About This Class

plant lovers: If you like plants and want to learn how to propagate them, this course is for you. This first course is a look at how plants duplicate and have babies in addition to the care that you must follow and on what occasions to carry out what type of propagation.

Hi everyone! In this course we'll learn the basics of plant propagation. We'll learn how to do it in three different ways: by putting the plants in water, by cutting the stem or the leaves and by dividing the plant.

This way, you'll be able to grow new plants from the ones you already have.

We are going to go step by step, exploring all the basic concepts and from time to time, telling one or another fun fact.

1. INTRO!: Hi everyone. In this course I want to show you the basics of plant propagation. In the first video, I'm going to show you how to prevent it by water. In the second video, I'm going to show you how to do it by current plan or the leaf. And in third one, I'm going to show you how to do it by binding to a hover your drink. 2. Propagation by water: FIRST PART: You'll need a container to please the cuts of the plant. They chose a glass bottle. You'll also need a pot with soil. And of course, new favorite plant. Here we have the string of parts in Tiny OS Ciara and afford us to cut this. You can use any take of Caesar's. Here I have the string of hearts. It's really easy to propagate, and it's actually my favorite. First, I'm going to grab some Caesar's and cut right here. And you see, we need to cut any midpoint between the lease. So you can see I have a section with leaves right here that's called a node. Here's another note. And this section between the leaves, It's colon intergral. Understanding these concepts will allow us to understand the basis of plant propagation. Let me cut another section. You'll see this is released. So any meat point where the leaf is coming out of the bind, each column noted, and the part of the bargain between every node. It's called internode. I think you get the idea from the notes that we submerged in water. That's where the roots are going to come from. Here, here, and here. We've got these leaves because if we submerge them with the bright, they're going to rot. We don't need this leaf, so let's put it aside. You can keep cutting the vines as long as you want. Remember you've got the leafs in order to prevent bacteria from an imaging device. I usually like to leave about two or three naked nodes to place them in water. But if you prefer, you can leave only one node. Once we've done cutting grown-up container, in this case a glass bottle and fill it with water. Try to change the water once a week. Make sure you're typing up your water container or whatever you're using. Because as the water evaporates or the plant uses it, the water levels will drop. Please make a note into the water and arranged device us you prefer I like to accommodate at good amount of fines so that it looks lethal a lake to see how your arrangement plan. So as a project, upload a photo of your favourite arrangement and share your experience. If you make more than one, the better scent glands are beekeepers and others, something longer than others to route this is a process that you can do with a wide variety of species, which can help you if you want a house full of plants that are not spend a lot of money if you are impatient and these will be the difficult part. Now we have to wait, I will three weeks for the baby plants to route. And just like a front affect these baby plant, it's actually at clone. It has the exact same DNA as the mother plant. At first, it can be scary to God the fines from the mother plant, but you'll see it'll keep going happy and healthy. In fact, just a little bit of stress can be healthy for organisms. And that's it. Remember to share a photo of your baby planks and your experience. Thank you for watching and see you next time. 3. Propagation by water: SECOND PART: Let's try this. Impresses with another plant. I person you might buffet, I am propagating this plant because they wanted to keep it as a gift to my little sister. And as you can see, just like this true of heart, this plant has nodes and inter nodes. Let's put these ones aside for a moment. In this case, there's only one leaf green for mixed-mode thing, how large you want the CO2 be over? You can cut every section with nodes in order to have more baby plants, in this case and leave a large brain. Let's give it as a MOOC. And there you go. We have these healthy, beautiful, fine. Because I'm using a large jar. I'll cut the leaf. Remember, it is important in order to avoid bacteria. Once you have the baby plant variety, it can be placed in watery. Keep going with the rest of fines you have. This is how they look in a few days. It depends on the plan you're working with. Roses, for example. They need about two to three months. This one here, some of Sarah, which took a little less than two weeks to route, I think about a five phase. The goal is to get the plan to have roots so that it can be transplanted or simply allowed to live in water. They don't need to be that large, just strong enough to capture the necessary nutrients and water. And be careful. Not all plants are able to live in water for a long period of time. If you want to transpose your VAD vine, rabbit but with soil and make her with your hands. Keeping in mind that the buffaloes came from being in water. So we'll need to keep the soil moist. Don't need a lot of nutrients. So you can keep them if you want, if you're propagating meters per means after a few weeks, beliefs My turn yellow because of the lack of nutrients, which means time to clump them into oil. Okay. Don't do what I did. I didn't change the water of my buffers and that's why they have these yellow leaves. But despite this, the vine has large roots. So remember, I, you will leave doesn't mean a plant-based diet. It just means you have to pull a little extra tension on its needs. Please apply them to the soil, can cover the routes with it. Applying a little pressure. Now you know the basics of propagation with acquire. Remember to share a photo of your baby plant and your experiences. Thank you for watching and see you next time. 4. Propagation by cutting: For these parts of the course, elite up with soil, your favorite succulents and upper of Caesar's. He'll see my succulent has become very, very large. I need to trim it. And instead of throwing away that piece of the plan and propagate it. This way. We'll have to plants that you remember about the nodes, have the inter nodes. Great, because that's where we'll need to get the plant in case you don't remember. Note it's any midpoint between the leaves. The plant may seem a little funky, but don't worry, we'll be able to see a little sprout competent in about a week. Just like with leading the left video, we'll need to blood the leaves from the foot so grep can leave and give it a gentle twist. You'll see it'll come off very easily. Try to get them out completely. Keep looking the muffin, but don't throw the lifts away. We'll use them further on. We've got only the part of the stem you'll put into the soil. Because if you cover the leaf, they won't be able to survive. In these ways, we can use the leaves to keep propagating plants in case you have more than one type of succulents and can grab some leaves too. It's not necessary to cut the stem for this part. There you go. Collect the leaves. Each one of them will become a baby plant. How well the live will route from the thinnest part as a new individual rows of the lifeworld tryout and ship. These very characteristic of succulents in general. Just like a random fact, a succulent, it's any plan with thick foolish, you should adapted to water storage. Now, please The Venus Bart oftenly into the soil. Some people just leave the leaf on the soil. But I've referred to burry the TPP, think in a way you prefer, is fine. In this case, I'm arranging them in circles. You can do it this way, making lines randomly, as you refer, time to be creative, to sprouts are in for a VK and in these particular case, they don't need a lot of nutrients. So leave about a centimeter apart, one from each polar. Usually, if you leave, leave space to a plan, it will grow that much. If you'd have enough space, tend to grow a lot. See how the root will grow from leaving about one or two weeks. Trying not to remove the leaves to see the root. But if you do, just try to touch it asleep unless possible. This is because this part of the plan is usually a little bit delicate. So please some gently the soil and that's it. You can see now how the tiny sprout will look like. Let me show you from a little closer. Careful. Beautiful. Isn't it tricky to order your plan once or twice a week, we're going to need the soil to be moist. Careful, moist, not wet. If you see them leave Lake these in a couple of weeks, don't worry. As long as this broad looks fine. It's completely normal. If not, just tried to worry baby plants more time. Don't forget this, then we cut it, seems to put it into the soil. Tried to be careful while doing this to avoid breaking the stump, you can help yourself making a hole with a bang or SDK first, pleasing the plant and covering me to a plane allele of pressure. Now you know how to propagate by cutting the plant. Thank you for watching. See you next time. 5. Propagation by dividing : For this part of the course, you'll need a plenty enough, but then a shovel. In case you didn't have one, you can use a knife. He doesn't have to be a sharp point. These type of deviations for those plants that spread from a central crown and have a clumping growth habit. These boundary here, ESA chives, mobile was peroneal, commonly use in the kitchen. It seems like a big blend from a little individuals. What we'll need to do is literally to separate these tiny individuals from the group. They both will continue growing in size and creating new time individuals for us to take care. First, insert the shovel in earlier to dq, then tried clump. Some people use a knife either this way or taking out the plant with soil and careening like a cake triggered should be brusque what removing the bulk, simply loosen the soil by moving the shovel from one side to the other. You can try twisting the ball and put him carefully. Try to water the plant first. Dry soil tends to be harder, so it can be more difficult to remove the book. Either way is okay, but I strongly recommend just beat up the process. Here's the bug with some roots, which means it was a good deal. Let's cover up that hole. Now. We need to report this plant. Pits are the best helpers. Make a whole and the ones with through the plant. We can cover it and apply a little pressure. Remember, plants certain made to be moved. So you can see my little sad the first few days and consistent. Now we have a beautiful baby clip. Now you know how to propagate by defining. Please upload a photo and share your experience. Thank you for watching.
