I am Sheetal , an artist currently based out of Bangalore, India.

I always loved to color and sketch as a kid but lost touch on the way but rediscovered my love for art again when I was on my maternity break and had some spare time to get back to art.

I started with watercolors without any prior knowledge about the medium and fell in love with it and now it’s been more than 3 years and I am still not done learning about the versatility of this medium.I also started exploring about digital medium and have been experimenting with it for almost a year now.I also love to experiment with other subjects and mediums like gouache, acrylics.

My artworks are mainly inspired by the beauty ... See full profile

I'm Sheetal and welcome to my Skillshare class. The class is divided in simple steps so that even if you are a beginner, you can follow along the instructions easily to create the stunning landscape. Now, if you find this interesting, and let's move on to the next section and check the materials required to begin the class. 2. Tools Required: Let's quickly look at the two tools required to start the project. You need an iPad, an Apple Pencil and procreate application. I am using a seventh generation iPad I'm using the latest version of Procreate application with this 5.2. 3. Canvas Specification: Let's start the project. So first let's look at the canvas that we would need for this project. Open the Procreate app. Once you open it, you see the + icon at the top right corner. You get a list of options available canvases. You can go ahead and choose any Canvas, or you can create your own custom canvas by tapping on that icon. You can specify the Canvas details be it in pixels, centimeters and millimeters. And create your own custom Canvas and tap on Create. And you will have your custom canvas ready. This is how you create your own custom canvas. I am going back to gallery tapping on the + icon and I will go with screen size canvas. This is the canvas that we will use for the project. This canvas is of the size 1620 by 1620 pixel. You are free to choose canvas of your preference for this project. And this is the Canvas that I would be using for the project today. If you're ready when the Canvas, Let's move on to the next section. 4. About the colors: Now let's look at the colors that we will be using for this project. I will be mostly picking the colors from the colour disc. So as and when I pick up the colors, I am also going to add it to a palette. I'm going to create a new palette. I'll tap on the pallets and tap on the + icon and create a new palette. Once I pick the color from the tests, can use it to the project. I am going to add it to this palette, which I will be uploading it to the resource section so you can go ahead and download it from there. Be there ready with the palette, or you can choose the colors as and when. when I am doing the project. 5. Importing color Swatch: You can find the Bluebell beach forest swatches uploaded in the project and resources section. Please make sure that you download this before you begin with the project. Once you have downloaded the swatch, go to the file where you have the swatch or the downloaded swatch present. Now, you need to import the swatch to procreate application, and it is just a very simple step. All you have to do is tap on the Download swatch and it will be automatically imported to procreate application. Just scroll down and you will see the swatch in the palette. 6. Background Layer: Now let's start with the project. Tap on the colors go to the disc and I'm going to pick this green more towards the yellow value. This is the color that I'm going to pick for the background. I'm going to add it to the palate. Tap on the Brush Library, airbrushing, and select the soft brush in to set the size of this brush to about 40% and opacity is set to 100%. And we do the background layer. That is, I'm going to fill about 3/4th of this canvas with this shade of color, which is more like a yellowish green. Once you're done filling about three-fourths of the canvas, Let's go back to the color palette. I'm going to pick purple more of lavender color from this disc. very light shade, more like a lavender shade. And I'm going to do add it to the palette. I'm going to fill the bottom and 1/4th of the canvas with this color, using the same soft brush. Just apply horizontal strokes and fill in the canvas. We ready, with the background layer, tap on the layer and rename this layer. I'm going to rename it as background layer. 7. Background Trees: Now tap on the layers and tap on the plus icon and create a new layer. Now, we will be adding a background trees. So rename this layer to as background trees. We will be adding couple of background tree layers. So this is going to be the first layer. Now the layer is ready, tap on the color wheel, the color disc, and select a darker shade of green. This is the green that I'm using. I'll add it to the color palette. Let me just delete this and add the new, one that I just picked. This is more like blackish green. And I can say. that's the color. Now tap on the Brush Library. Calligraphy. Go with this Brushpen. Adjut the size of this brush. I'm going to reduce it about twenty-five percent. And opacity these set to 100%. Now using this brush, I am going to add tree trunks like this. I'm going to add them randomly all over the canvas like this. Now, don't worry about the shape of the tree trunks. It may not be perfect straight line. These are anyways. Background trees. We are going to blur these trees. So just add a few lines like this for the tree trunks. I think I'm going to stop it here. Now tap on adjustments Icon Gaussian blur and set the blur to about. I'm going to set the blur to about 10% by just dragging the tip of my pencil towards, tapping on the screen and dragging it towards left or right to adjust the blur. So I'm going to set the blur to about 10% 8. 2nd Layer of background trees: Now on the Layers and create a new layer by tapping on the plus icon. This is going to be layer three, and I'm going to rename this layer three as background trees. Number. This will be the second layer of background trees. Renaming a second BG trees instead of BG to be big, but you get it. It should be background trees. We have 2nd layer of background trees ready? We will be repeating the same step that we did for our first background tree. Tap On the brush library. Select the same brush pen using the same size and opacity. I'm going to add some more trees or, treat trunks and this layer as well. I'm adding a little thicker tree trunks by increasing the pressure on the tip of my pencil. So again, see it looks darker and thicker as well. If you keep adjusting the, pressure on the tip of your pencil you get darker or lighter tree trunks like this. So now we'll blur this layer. Tap on adjustmentt icon Gaussian blur. I'm going to place the tip of my pencil, on this screen and drag it towards the right and set Gaussian blur about 8 to 10-% will increase the blur to about 10%. We are ready with a second layer of background trees. 9. 3rd layer of background trees: Now we're going to add one more layer of trees. The background trees, so I'm going to tap on the layers, tap on the plus icon and create a new layer. And I will rename this layer 4 as third BG trees or background trees. The more background layers that we are going to add. It is going to add depth to your paintings. So that is why we are adding multiple background, blurred background tree trunks to create that depth. Now using the same brush, same size, I'm going to increase the pressure on the tip of my pencil and adding more darker tree trunks like this. Again, I'm adding them randomly. Adding one more at the center here. That should be enough. Now tap on the adjustments. Gaussian blur. You'll have noticed I am using the blur in each layer. For this third layer, let us set the blur to about 5%. Yeah. We are done with our final background layer, or the tree layer. 10. Foreground trees: Now it's time to add the foreground trees So tap on the Layers and create a new layer by tapping on the + icon. I am going to rename this layer five as Foreground trees. Now, using the same color, same brush, and same size, I am going to increase the pressure on the tip of my pencil and I'm going to add even more darker, three trunks in the foreground. I'm adding in-between the tree trunks, the background tree trunks as you can see. They are little. thicker and darker than the previous layer of tree trunks. Adjust the thickness of tree trunks by going over them like this. Go over and make it a little more thicker. I'm increasing the thickness of all these 4 tree trunks. in the foreground tree layer. You don't have to take the tree trunks, all the way to the bottom of the canvas because we are going to fill the bottom layer with the blue bells flowers. You need not worry about the bottom section of this tree trunks, it will be covered. Now, we're ready with the, foreground tree trunks. Let's add some texture to this tree trunks and let us do that in the next section. 11. Adding texture to the tree trunks: It's time to add texture to this foreground trees. So tap on the layer and apply alpha lock on this foreground trees layer. Now go to the color palette. I'm going to select this olive green. go to the Brush Library. Textures And go with this grunge brush set the size of this brush to about 100%. Opacity is set to around 70%. And I am going to apply some texture on these tree trunks. Just going over the tree trunks like this. And you can see the texture already. Let me just zoom in and show it to you how that looks like. And this is how the texture is going to look like. That looks like a lot of green. Let's make some adjustments. Go do the color wheel and go back and select black from the disc. Using the texture brush, go over and apply some darker, texture, that is black texture to the tree trunks. This looks much better. Now. Go back to the color wheel and pick brown shade. So I am going through definitely strike. And I'm going to this darker shade of brown using the same texture brush and I'm going to add some brown mixture as well to these tree trunks. Now, add them to all the tree trunk that you have painted. Now,go back to the color wheel. I am going to add it to the color palette. And we are done adding texture to the foreground trees. Back to the color palette and picking this black and going over and adding some more black texture. Now let me just zoom in and check how this looks like and I'm happy make the texture. Let's move on to the next section now. 12. Background flowers: Now it's time to add the flowers. So go to the Layers and create a new layer. Now again, we could be adding the bluebells in three different layers. So this is the first layer, and I'm going to rename this layer six as background flowers. Once you have the background, flower layer ready , let's look at the colors. So we will be mostly going with the shades of purple, for the blue bells. So I am going to pick a very light shade all purple more like a lavender shade that we used for the background. And go to the Brush Library. Organic. Go with this snow gum brush. This is the brush that we will for using for adding the blue bells. Make sure that you are in the background flowers layer, and get it just above the background trees layer. go to the color palette. And I am going a little darker shade because its too light, so this would be the color. So let me just delete the previous color and add the next color. I will reduce opacity to 70%. The size of this brush to about 17%. And add the flowers in this background flowers layer like this. It's okay if you see caps and you need not fill complete layer with flowers. You can use some gaps in between because we are anyways going blur this layer. So now tap on Adjustment icon Gaussian blur and set the blur to about 7%. Increase it further, I will set it to 10% And we are now ready with out first background flowers layer. 13. 2nd layer of background flowers: Tap on layers and create a new layer above the second background tree layer, Tap on + icon and rename this layer seven as 2nd background flowers, which is going to be our second layer of blurred background flowers. Once you are ready with this layer, make sure that it is above the 2nd background, trees layer. Now, pick a shade little darker than the previous purple shade. So this is the color. I'm going to add it to the color palette. Now using the same brush. That is the snow gum brush, I am going to add my second layer of background flowers. I'm adding them randomly at different spots like this. You need not fill in the layer completely with the flowers. Size and opacity is set to what it was previously and add them different at spots like this. It's done now .Tap on adjustments icon ,Gaussian blur and set the blur to about 4%. We are done with the second background layers. 14. 3rd layer of background flowers: Now tap on the Layers and create a 3rd layer of backgrounds flowers. So move it just above the 3rd background trees layer. Rename this layer 8 as 3rd background flowers, which will be the final layer of background flowers. Make sure that you follow this order. of Background trees and then background flowers. And again, 2nd background trees. Second background flowers. I've been used the previously , used color, but I'm going to increase the opacity of the brush to 100%. And I will also increase the size of the brush and set it to about 16%. And again, I will add my 3rd layer of background flowers, adding them randomly at different spots. This is how it looks. 15. Foreground flowers: Now for the final layer of flowers, go to Layers and create a new layer just above the foreground. trees layer and I will rename this layer 9. I'm going to need to rename it as foreground flowers. Now go to the color palette and a shade darker than the previous shade. And this is the color. And I'm going to add some flowers in the foreground using the same brush. Now you can see the difference in the color. This shade is a little darker than the previous shade, and this is a brush that has dual tone. We can see dual tone flowers here Fill lived on board first layer. Now I will increase the size of the brush to about 20% and add. Some bigger flowers. Keep increasing and decreasing the size of the brush to add these flowers. This is how it looks. Now you can fill in as much as you want in this layer. 16. Adding leaves to flower area: Now let's add some more depth to the scene by adding some green leaves in-between. So I will go to the disc and pick shade of green. This is the color and add it to the color palette. Using the same brush, snow gum brush, I will reduce the opacity of the brush TO 70-65%. I'll reduce it further down to about 60% and I will add some green leaves in-between. It adds more depth to this painting. Add them randomly at different spots in this ground like this. You can go ahead and add some leaves in previous background flowers layer as well. I'm going to pick this first green from the palette. I will add some different shade green leaves in the foreground as well as background. Also choose a different shade of green and add by just tapping on the screen like this at random spots. And this is how it looks. Going back to the 3rd background flowers layer and adding some more green leaves in this layer. Now go to the color palette. I'm going to pick. another dark shade of purple. I will go to this foreground flowers layer and add more darker flowers using the same brush. Keep adjusting the size and opacity of the brush to add different shades of flowers in this flower area. This is final color and I am adding it to the palette. You can see all different shades of purple in this flower area. And it looks beautiful. I will go back to the palate and pick, green and add some greens in between. Happy with how this has turned out. I'm going to stop it here. 17. Background leaves: Now it's time to add some leaves to this foreground as well as background trees. Just like how we did previously, we are going to create separate layers for adding the leaves to these trees. So let's go to the background, flowers layer and create a layer just above it. I'm going to rename this layer 10 as a background leaves. I'm just going to add it. As BG leaves. I'm just going to zoom in and go to the color palette. And pick this previously used green and go to the brush library. So we'll be using the same brush that is snow gum brush. This is the brush that we will use to add them, use that as well. So I'm going to set the opacity to 100% and size to about 10% here. And I will add the background leaves like this by just tapping on the screen and adding them randomly. This is how you add the background leaves. Now tap on Adjusments icon Gaussian blur and set the blur to about 10%. 18. 2nd and 3rd layer of leaves: Now go back to the layers. go to the 2nd flowers layer and create a new layer above this flowers layer. This will be our second background leaves layer. so I going to rename, it as 2nd BG leaves. I'm going to repeat the same process again for the second layer of background leaves. I will use the same color and same brush, add my 2nd layer pf background leaves like this by just tapping on the screen. Now once you're done adding these leaves , tap on adjustment icon gaussian blur and set the blur to about 5% and we are now ready with the 2nd layer of background leaves. Now tap on the layers and go to 3rd BG flowers, and create a layer above it. And I'm going to rename this as 3rd. BG leaves, Repeat the process for the my third layer of background leaves using the same color, same brush I am going to add. leaves like this. Once you're done adding the leaves, tap on adjustments. Icon, gaussian blur and set the blur to about 3%. And we are done with our final layer of background leaves. 19. Foregound leaaves: Now tap on the layers and create a new layer above the foreground flowers layer. This will, the final layer of leaves which is going to be the foreground leaves. I will use the same brush. I will increase the size to about 20%. Now go to the color palette. Use the same green instead. add the leaves in the foreground. Again, keep adjusting. the size either increase and keep decreasing the size of this snow gum brush and add the leaves in the foreground. I will go to the color palette and pick a lighter shade of green as well and add some lighter green leaves. In the foreground. I'll go back to the color palette and pick a darker shade of green. Pick this 3rd color from the palette, which is a darker shade of green and add some darker leaves in the foreground. This is how it looks when you add different shades of green in the foreground. Now magnet. 20. Final touches: We need to add some branches to this foreground trees. So I'm going to pick this fifth color from the palette. Rather, I will go with this 3rd color from the palette, which is a very dark shade of green. go to the brush library Inking and select this technical pen. I will use this brush pen. I'm going to set the size of this brush TO about 20%. Opacity is set to 100%. I will go to the foreground trees layer. Now before adding the branches, I need to remove the alpha lock that I have applied on this foreground trees layer. Now, I can add the branches to the trees. I will add branches to all the trees. On the foreground. Trees like this. You can go ahead and add as many branches as you want for this foreground trees. I'm gonna stop it. We are done adding, beaches to foreground trees. And this is how it looks. So with this we are done with this beautiful project. I am going to pick this dark green from palette and go to this organic and select this snow gum brush. And I'm thinking of adding some more leaves. in the foreground. You can add some darker leaves in the background layer as well. Add it to the background 3rd background leaves layer Now tap on on adjustments Icon gaussian blur. and set the blur to about 5%. Now you can add this darker shade of green in. If you feel that it's necessary, you can go ahead and add the darker shade of green. background leaves layer. I'm going to stop it. And I'm happy with this result. We add done with this beautiful project. I hoped you enjoyed creating it. 21. Conclusion: You can use all the tips and tricks that you learn in this project to create this autumn landscape as well.
