1. Introduction: Hey guys, my name is Eric and untreated for play skillfully, where I teach you all things. Piano, wherever that'd be, scales, chords, songs, whatever will help you to be a well-rounded piano player. Okay, So in this particular course, we're going to be looking at arpeggios, and this is part of my finger exercise series. So I will suggest that you check out the other courses before you come to this course, or you can come straight to this course. So what are we going to be the canal? We're going to be looking at the arpeggio. And what is an arpeggio? How to play the arpeggio in the left hand and right hand. And I'll also be showing you different exercises for their patients. So I hope to see you in this course and I will see you all. 2. Arpeggio Explaination : What is an arpeggio? And arpeggio is a broken chord. So as you can see, a code this when you play all the notes at the same time. But on our Petros when you break up that code. So e.g. you might want to start on G to the B to D. So you go GBD, you go to the next uptake for the same pattern. Or you might want to start with d, b, d, g. That could be another pattern. Then we just keep repeating that pattern over a number of days. Just know that the arpeggios are just codes that have been broken up. And that's what an arpeggio is. There are various ways that we can play the arpeggio exercise. You can play with hand separately, one hand at a time. And there is another way of playing arpeggios, crossing over our hands. I'm going to show you all of this in the next lessons. So next, I'm going to show you a few different exercises using the arpeggios. So CZ 4. Arpeggio Breakdown - GM Right Hand: So welcome to our G major arpeggio. We're looking at the notes G, B, and D, and they are the only notes we're going to use in this whole exercise, coming forward and backwards. Song I played right now with a click. Then I'll explain to you how it all works. After 4123423 and back. So let's play this exercise. What we do is that we are forming the very first node of the code, which is going to be G. So you play the code, so G, second finger on, the third finger on D. The little finger plays G. So the farm and little finger play the exact same nodes going forward and backwards. Alright, so let's do that again. So those G to the B, first finger on the fifth finger on G, sort of fulfilling that doesn't get used at all in this exercise in the right hand. All right, so that's the first part. So what we do next is that we put off farm on the next note of the chord, which is B. So what we are essentially doing is that we're playing the same code but in a different order. Okay? So we put our formula b. Now, our next node, it's gonna be D. Next note is going to be G. Then our next one is going to be B again, right? Because the little finger and thumb play the exact same notes. Right. So I'll put those two parts together. It will be like this. Yeah. Let's do that again. So off the floor without the metronome 12341234 and go to the B1 3.4. Let's do that with the click 1234123. So next we move on to the d, which is the final note in G major chord. So now the same notes, but now we're starting on D. So now it will be d to the CEJ to be, let me end on. Because again, farm and little finger up paying the exact same notes. So you must put that all together. It will sound like this. The fall over from over again. And that's basically it. So what we do after we play this part is that we go back to the G Again. We just basically repeat the whole cycle again and that's how it works. So now let's put those three parts together. We're gonna go from the GI section to the D, to the D. Okay, so like this plate, you first see an idea. Key part, then be part. Dinner deeper. Okay, Let's do is click 1234. Yeah. So that is what I would like you to work on. These come from the key part to the B part to the DePaul, then you're going to repeat the whole thing again. So once we get up to here, then we go back to the G, P, B. Then let me end on the G like that. Okay, and it's the whole cycle going forwards. So let's play this now with the metronome going all the way up to the g123. Go one. Okay, great. So if that's still tricky for you, take time to work on it just going forward, then dreamy for the park going backwards. Now to go back, we ended on the G. So from the G note, we go down to the d, to the B, to the G. So now we're moving a little finger from the G to D to the B, and the G to D to the B, and so on. So like this, it goes Ji De Ci, then they will finger goes down to the d, dy. The finger goes down to the B, B, B. And last one little finger goes down to the G Again, g and g. That's basically it. So let's play this one now, going scrolling down, nice and slow. I'll count for us before we do the metronome. So 1234 go 12341234 to the b1234, back to G. Repeat the whole pattern again. Last one. That one that goes to the G is the last one. So I'm not going to pay the metronome just going backwards off the 41234. Go go forward and backwards with the metronome. So let me quickly show you how we're going to go back off the going forward. So it goes like this, affords them again. Yes, you press that G twice. Then we go backwards like that. Yeah, and so on. Alright, so let's play with the metronome. Off the fall 123, go gantry. But before they went along, How you been able to do that? And if not, just keep working at it and you'll be fine. So I'll see you for the next lesson where we're going to be looking at the left hand of this exercise. 5. Arpeggio Breakdown - GM Left Hand: So far I left hand, we're doing everything exactly the same as the right hand, apart from the fact that we're using different fingers to play the notes. Let's get started with this. I'm going to play it down here for the left hand, but you can play it any way you want to. But I'm going to play down here for the left hand as before, we don't use our forefinger. So the fingers we're going to use are the fifth finger, the third finger, and second finger and our firm this time round only difference between the left hand and right hand is that we go up with our little finger. Let me go down with our family left hand, whereas in the right hand, we went up with a farm and went down volatile finger. So like this little finger because the G, B, D, shade and little finger goes to the B to D, J, bead and little finger goes to D. Yeah, and we keep going right, because the same parent back to that G. And we end here. Let me count you in as we do this, off to four. So 12 341-234-1234 to the D key going all the way to the end. Last one. Let's do this now with the metronome of the 41234. Okay, and that's it. So that going backwards, we're using a farm to go back on the notes. Okay, So from the B to D, to G, to the B, and so on. Alright, so like this. Then the firm, the day g and last one. So just remember that we doubled the GI before we go back down. Let's do this going backwards with the metronome. Off the fall 1234. We are now going to go forward and backwards in our left hand with the metronome off the fall 1234. So far, next lesson, we're going to be looking at G minor. So I will see you in that lesson. 7. Arpeggio Breakdown - Gm Right Hand: For the G minor arpeggio, we are going to be using the notes G, B-flat, and D. The only node that is different is the B-flat. So similar to what we've done in the majors, where we went from the notes in the code, we're going to do the same thing. So we're gonna go from the G to the B flat to the D, and they will be the only notes that we use in this pattern. I'm going to play tea first before I show you how it's done with the metronome off the 41234 after 41234. So that is just a quick demonstration of what I want you to achieve to play this, what we do is that we go from that g to the b, to the d, to the G. But this time our second finger will go to the next node, which is the B-flat at this point. From underneath to the D, to the G, to the first finger on the B-flat. Like that song to play it for you again. So G, a B-Flat second thing, golf F and Grundy than ceasing grungy than second finger on B-flat from an d. Second thing, second thing, grungy than Festinger and B-flat. Alright, so let's play out with the metronome 1234. Let's do that one more time. 1234. Yeah. Once you get to that. So once we get to that, B-flat, me go back to D. And D. Second thing, grungy than fussing gram, B flat. So that is basically the whole cycle. Then we repeat it again. All right, so we go back to that G, then repeat, which done a second ago with the first part. So it goes like this. The whole cycle into the B-flat to D, then starts again, and so on. Yeah, so let's try and do that whole cycle so we can go from here to be fat. Then lastly, the D before we start the whole thing again. So let's do that now. Off the fall 1234. Yep, and that's it. Let's keep going. After 4123 key go in, last one. And that's it going forward. So let's go from this g old way where we stopped off the fall, 1234. Now going backwards, the PET g go down. Quite often. Granted D. Now Paul fed thing gotten a B-Flat. Second thing got on the B-flat. Then little finger on that. And so on. Yeah, let's do this nice and slow. So surfing, going that B flat, little finger in that D. That's going to be going backwards. It's gonna be like this. G, d flat, G, B flat, and G, D, then forefinger and B-flat. Second finger on B-flat. So just remember that it's the first thing go on a B-flat first, then the second thing go on B flat. Then we end like that. So let's do this nice and slow that no metronome. So like this, 1234. Okay, and that's how we do it. I'm back. So let's do this now with the metronome off the 41234. And that is it. So we are not going to go forward and then backwards off the 41234. So that is how we go forward and backwards with this exercise. 8. Arpeggio Breakdown - Gm Left Hand: So in our left hand, it goes like this. So Paul Farmer that G, a B-Flat, second finger on D, and J, then surfing grumpy flat. Second thing RUN D from G. Second thing, gram beef that. Then no finger on D. And J, second finger and B-flat. Then repeats the whole cycle again. Alright, so let me show you that again. Finger on G, a B-Flat, second frame grown D from a, G, then first finger on B flat, sixth finger on D. And second finger will land on second thing I would land on a B-flat. Then little finger goes on that d third finger and j. Then the B-Flat second finger run than thumb on D. Then the pattern repeats again. Let's try that. Let's play with the metronome. So stopping at d123, go again to three and again. Okay, great. So once you are able to play what I just showed you just now, you should be able to play the whole thing. It just repeats itself. So let's do this whole thing now. So going from this G up here, I'm going to end here with the firm right off the 4123. Go. Repeat again. And last part. There we go. Let's do that one more time. 123, go. Okay, and that's how we do it going forward and backwards. It goes like this. G to a D, D flat, G. Then the second thing, ground beef, fat. Too little finger on D. Then second finger goes on that B-flat, G, which it goes underneath. The day. That then G, sec finger, little finger and thumb. And keeps repeating. Then last part. Okay, let's do this with the metronome just going backwards off the 41234. So we're not going to go forward and backwards after 41234, t3. And so that is how you play the G minor arpeggio and our left hand and right hand. 10. Arp - Breakdown - Mixed Positions Ex1 (Major): Got to start with a G note in our left hand, but in our right hand, we're going to start on the B node. In the left hand, it will be G, B D, G, B, D, G. In our right hand it will be q0. Be cheap. Yeah. So it's all the same notes, but this played in a different position in our hands. I am now going to break this down for you. In our left hand, we play the G, our right hand, we play the B. The B and G will play together. Then the next note in the left hand will be B. But in our right hand it will be d. Play those two together. Then the D in the left hand and the G and the right hand will stay together like that. With the students over one uptake. Let's do this again. So G and B, B and D. Then D and G. We are using the same fingers as before, so we don't use the forefinger in our left hand or right hand. So it's just 123.5. So let's do this again, just one octave. So it goes G and B together. B and D together, d and g together. And it continues on GNB. So that's how we play over one octave. Now let's put it over two octaves. So we're playing the same thing but twice over, right? So it's cheap to be the g with the j. When we get to this point here, our second finger will be on the D and the left hand. Our third finger will be on G and the right hand firms together. So G in the left hand and be in the right hand. Then third finger and second fingers together. Or B and D. Then D and G. Then we finished off the gene or left hand and be in the right hand. Like that. Let's play this first without no metronome. So after 412-343-4123. Let's do that one more time. 123123. Let's play with the metronome at night. Five BPM. 123, go one more time. 123 go. And that's it going forward. So going backwards, It's going to be like this. So little finger with the farm. So now it's the fifth finger with the farm at the end. I forgot to mention when going forwards, we end with the little finger in our right hand and our farm in the left-hand, we'll end on the G like this. Yeah. So now going back, it goes like this. So it's the she in the b, b, d, and g be in the left hand, the right hand, thumb together. So G and B, second finger and third finger. So D and J. Then b and d. Then we end little finger and the left hand on G and farm on the right that again, fat no metronome. So 123, go one. Free. So I'm not going to play with the metronome off the 4123, go 123. And again. So guys, let's put this altogether now going forward and backwards with the metronome. After 412341 more time, 123 go. So it's just as simple as that guys, so just working out for me. So join me for the next exercise and I will see you soon. 11. Arp - Breakdown - Mixed Positions Ex2 (Major): This exercise is similar to the last exercise, but now we're starting on D and our right hand or left hand is exactly the same. So we use them all the same nodes in the left hand as a last exercise. But in our right hand, it goes D to B to D to G to B, to D to G, B. Then little finger on D. Do that if we want more time. So we're starting on the d Now. D, G to B, from underneath to D. To B to D at the end. Yeah. So in your left hand, it's the same thing. The G, B, G and B. And so the gene or left hand will match the D in the right hand. And left hand will match the G in the right hand. And the D in the left hand will match the B in the right hand. And that's the order. So I'm now going to place exercise and you can try me as well as we go forward. Okay. So after fault that no metronome 1234 go. Let's do that again after 41234. Let's do this now with the metronome of the 4123. Go one more time. 123, go. So going backwards. G and a D gets the same way, went forward. Yeah, so it's pretty straightforward idea this exercise. The same way. One more time. So the D and the G, B, D, G and the B gene D, G, B and D, G, B, then G and D. Let's do that now with the metronome just going backwards. 123, go. Alright, that's it. So we're not going to waste no time. We're going to go forward and then backwards off the floor. 1234, go one more time. 123, go. Okay. And that is it. So well done guys, if you're able to do that and if not, practice it and practice it and practice it. Alright, so I'll see you for the next exercise. 12. Arp - Breakdown - Mixed Positions Ex1 (Minor): Welcome back, guys. So we're looking at a G minor. G minor is the G, B-flat and D. So it's going to be the same as the majors, but we're just changing one node, which is the B flat note. The B-flat knows that only note that it's different compared to the G major arpeggio. Let's first look at the fingering. So the fingers are little bit different in your right hand. So we start with our second finger and our right hand. Yep. So it goes like this and the right hand. So those B-flat from the D second finger on the third finger, and that B-flat from on the D, second finger on the G. Then we end with the third finger on B flat to that fleet one more time. Second finger and B-flat from one d, second finger and third finger and B-flat, famine D. Second thing, grungy. And third finger on B flat. So in the left-hand finger, and it's just the fifth finger and G, a B-Flat second finger on the farm on G, first finger on B-Flat. Second thing, grantee, and from on the G. So when we put this all together, it will sound like this. That cause the fingers that will match together will be the little finger and your left hand with the second finger in your right hand? The third finger in your left hand with the firm in your right hand. The second thing got in your left hand will go to the second finger in your right hand. Then the firm with the third finger. Then we cross over with the left hand on the B-flat than the firm goes on the D. The second thing in the left hand goes to D, the firm goes second finger goes to g in your right hand, and the firm goes on G and your left hand, and the third finger on B-flat in your right hand. All right, so let's do this nice and slow that now click. So it goes like this. G, B-flat, D. D in your lifetime with a G. G in your left hand and B-flat and the right hand cross over with your first finger on a B-flat and your left hand and goes under with the farm on D in your right hand? Second fingers in both hands. So we on the dean or left hand. And the G in your right hand, Do we end with the G on the farm, on the G in the left hand, and the third finger on B-flat in your right hand. So let's put this in time now. After 41234. Let's do that one more time. 1234. So I'm going to play this with the metronome now and play them with me. 1234. Again, 1234. So we go back the same way we went forward. So down, down this time go under with the G in your left hand and over with your right hand on the B-Flat. Second finger ends and that B-flat, whilst the little thing that ends on a G in your left hand. Let's put that together. For 12341 over. Let's put that altogether. We're gonna go forward and then backwards now, right off the floor, I would love for you to join me. 1234 backwards. Again. 1234. I'm playing at 95 ppm, but you can make this much faster if you feel it's too slow for you. Challenge yourself as well. Try and get to that 105 or even one-twenty. See how fast you can go do this exercise? And I will see if the next one in the minus. 13. Arp - Breakdown - Mixed Positions Ex2 (Minor): Second exercise in a G minor. We are going to play the D note in the right hand, the left hand, those are all the same. But the right hand now is going to be D, G, B flat. Alright, so our finger in the right hand would be like this. From an that d second finger on that G first finger on B flat, D sec finger, and G, B-flat, and little finger, D. And that's it. So who has put it all together? It will sound like this. Sort of fingers that are matching is the little finger and the thumb. Then the third finger on the B-flat to the second finger on the G, to give up the D and the left hand with the B-flat in the right hand. The G in the left hand with D. When we cross underneath the D in the right hand, you go over with the left hand on the B-flat with the third finger and the second finger and G in the right hand, then second finger on the D, and third finger and B-flat. Then lastly, the farm on G in the left hand with the little finger on D in the right hand. Just like that. So we are now going to go forward with this exercise. Now I'm just going to count you in without no metronome. So 1234. Let's do that one more time. That no metronome 1234. We are now going to try this with the metronome off the 412341 more time, 1234. And going backwards like this. So we know it's gonna be the same thing, but it's going down the little finger and thumb. So I'm not going to play this nice and slow that no metronome and just counting, you win. So 12341, more time. 1234. We left and the right hand. Then we end right there. I am now going to play this with the metronome going forwards and then backwards. Dry me off the fall. 12341 more time, 1234. And that is it for a minus. So I will see you for our next exercise. See you soon. 15. Arp - Breakdown - Hands Crossed: In this exercise, I'm going to show you a different way of playing the arpeggios. This way is used a lot in classical music and even in other styles of music as well. Cool, alright, so I'll show you exactly what we're going to do and what I would like you to achieve at the end of this lesson, we are going to look at three different codes. The first one is C major, the notes are C, E, and G. The second one is F-major. The notes are F, a, and C. And the final one is G major, which we have done in the previous lessons, G, B, and D. And they, the only notes we've got to use for this whole exercise. So it goes like this. The fingers that we're going to use are the inner left hand is going to be the fifth thing offered and farm and the same in the left-hand, exactly the same thing as, Let's start with a C major chord first, in the left hand, we're going to play C, E, G, ramp is the same thing straight afterwards. For us over the left hand and play the same notes. Then say same notes with the right hand above. And then do that for you again. Under the right hand. Then finish off the right hand. The right hand will be the second to the. Then we end with the pinky at the very end, right? That one more time. For the final time that we play the C major, we end on the pinky on the sea. After. For that sequence, we're going to go from the C major first to the F-Major, to the G, Then back to the sea to the final time that you play, the C will end with the pinky on the C here. So let's do that one more time. So after 41234, stop there. Then we go to the F major. So it's the same pattern, right? So f, c, repeat that with me. Off the 41234. The last one is G-Major. We know these notes, GBD. Then the final one back to the C major. This time we end with the peaky on the high seas. That at the end, I'm going to play this now with the metronome. Off the 41234. I'm now going to play each code with the metronome. So let's start with the C, first of the 4123411, more time, 1234. Now let's do the F-Major off the 412341 more time, 1234. Let's do the G major after 412341, more time. 1234, the last c1234. Little finger. Make sure before you put everything together that you've mastered the C Major by itself, the F major arpeggio by itself, and the G major arpeggio by itself. So now we're going to put it all together. After 4123, go one more time. 1234. And there we have it. So well done guys group got to the very end of this course.
