1. Intro - Melodic Minor Scale: The piano can be challenging, especially with all
the distractions in life work, family education. But have you always had that
burning desire to learn? You may have started the
lessons when you were a kid, but I didn't finish to
a point that you felt confident to play by
yourself or play for others. Or maybe over time,
the excuses have piled on as to why
you can't learn. Now. I'm too old, I'm too busy, it's too late. However, this does not
have to be the case. Hi, my name is Eric, and I am a piano tutor for
play skillfully. And as a piano
educator and musician, I aim to help all my
students learn the piano in a simplified way that they can understand and
grasp with ease. Also helping all my students to achieve their goals
at their own pace, but also with confidence that they know what
they're doing. After they finish the lessons
in my skillshare lessons, I will be breaking down all the essential parts
of learning The piano, the chords, the scales, chord progressions, songs, styles of music,
rhythm, music theory. All this will be found
in all of my courses to help you to become
a confident musician. So what are you waiting for? I would love to have you on my course and guide you through the process and help you to become the musician that
you've always wanted to be. Hey guys, so in this
course I'm going to be teaching you the
melodic minus scale. And if you have not already, check out the natural
minus scale course, the harmonic minus scale course. And then join this
course afterwards as they are all linked together. I will also be going
through songs in this course that uses
the melodic minus scale, so it will help you
to get familiar with the sound guys, what
you're waiting for. I look forward to having
you on this course and I will see you
all real soon.
2. Intro A Melodic minor: Now going to look at our
melodic minus scale. And our very first
one is going to be A. Again, in the A
melodic minus scale, we add the sharp, now we turn to sharp in the A melodic
scale as you can see. I'm going to show you this next.
3. Am (Melodic) Right Hand : A melodic minus scale. We add another black, which is sharp now, has been canceled out now. And from the a natural
minus scale has turned to sharp and sharp in
a melodic minus scale. Let me play this for you first and you'll get an idea
of how it sounds. It goes like this.
Same finger as well. Now, the first finger on sharp. Finger on sharp, keep going and that's how it goes.
Pretty straightforward. Again, same
fingering, but we are now just including
the sharp note. Let's do this together
after four once, once you fully understand it, join me now without
no metronome, after 41234 sharp, they go back over and that's basically it. So now let's do this for
the metrono after 41234. There we have it guys.
That's how we play the melodic minor going forward and backwards in our right hand. Next up is our left hand.
4. Am (Melodic) Left Hand : The left hand is exactly
the same as before, but now we're adding the shop as I mentioned before.
So it goes like this. Now, our third finger hits the shop and second
finger hits the G shop, one of 41234 breckods after 41234234. And that's how we
play the melodic minus scale in our left hand. So work on the right hand and
left hand as I always say. Then join me for
both hands together.
5. Am (Melodic) Both Hands : We're now going to put
the melodic minor all together with our left hand
in the right hand plane. At the same time,
just remember when we get to the F sharp
and G sharp in our left hand is
going to be our third and second finger in our right hand is going to be our third and fourth finger. All right. Third in the left
hand in the right hand, second in the left hand, and fourth in the right hand, yet to hit the G sharp. Let's do this together,
nice and slow, after 41234, And that's how you play
it. Take your time. If you have not got it yet, just work on it and then join me with the metronome
afterwards. So once you're ready,
you can join me at this. 0.123 go 12 free and again 234. All right, so that's how we play
the A molodic minor, going forward and backwards. I'll just say this as well. It's important that you
know your major skills before coming to the
minus skills because they're all actually
linked together while I'm guys in completing
your very first skill, which is the A minus skill. And I will see you
for our next skill, which is going to be
the minus skills.
6. Intro E Melodic minor: For our melodic minus scale, we have the C sharp as
our new black note. As you can see, I'll be
showing you the scale next.
7. Em (Melodic) Right Hand : We are now looking at our E minor melodic in the right hand. So if it goes like this,
I'll play it for you first, then I will demonstrate
it afterwards. So it's pretty straightforward,
All we're doing is this. So it goes to the
E, to the F sharp, to the reat put from underneath, go to the C sharp sharp
from underneath again, repeat the pen under, then end. All right, join me this
time. So nice and slow. Goes sharp to the cheek under all four fingers under. Again, one more time, then all the five fingers
to the end like that. All right, so now
going backwards, it's 543 to one over to the G, over to the shop. We end on just like that. So just working at
going forward and backwards and then
joining me with the metronome now after 41234 on more time, 1234, and that is it. So next up I'm going
to be showing you the left hand of the same skill.
8. Em (Melodic) Left Hand : The left hand. It
goes like this. All five fingers going up, third finger over to the shop. Now, four finger
over to the shop. Third finger over. Let me
end on just like that. All right. I'm going
to do it again. You can join me this time. All five fingers up.
Fred finger over. Four finger over the last
time, Fred finger over. Then going backwards,
it goes like this, under under again
to the last time. Fingers. All right. So work
on that for me. Going forward and backwards. And then join me with the
metronome after 41234. And that is it. Work on each hand separately then dummy when we put both
hands together next.
9. Em (Melodic) Both Hands : As mentioned in the intro, Just think of this scale
as the major scale, but with a flattened
third note, all right? So the finger is exactly the
same as the major scale. Apart from playing G sharp, we're playing, you can join
me as I play this. Okay. I'm going to do it nice
and slow after 41234, down to the gene,
Everything the same. Just that one more time. Love for one. Yeah. Okay. Then going backwards under your left hand over
in your right hand? Right left hand in
your left hand. Just like that. All right. So if you
can do the major scale, this scale will be pretty
easy for you because all we're changing is the sharp. That's all we're
changing. All right, so let's place now
with the Metro Watch. You can do that. Do
that by yourself first. Then join me with the
Metro after 41234. And there we have it goes. So just work on that. And
join me for our next scale.
10. Intro B Melodic minor: For the B melodic minus skull. Our new black note is
going to be Che sharp. I'll show you this next.
11. Bm (Melodic) Right Hand : I'm first going to
demonstrate to you the B mylodic minor. Then I'll break it down to you afterwards. So it
goes like this. As mentioned in
the introduction, I'm only changing that one note from D sharp now
to D. All right? Everything else is exactly the
same as the B major scale. I'm going to pay for
you nice and slow. And you can join me at
this point as well. Now under can follow up, sharp, sharp,
sharp, under the B. Then repeat the
whole pattern again. Now all your five fingers. Okay, don't you one more time. Then go backwards. Third over to the D. Fourth
over to the shop. Then lastly further to the D, and that's how we play the B minor moosic going
forward and backwards. So I would now like you to
play with the metronome with myself after 412341. More time, 123. And again, next up I'll be showing you the
left hand for this girl.
12. Bm (Melodic) Left Hand : In the left hand. Just
think of the B major. As I said before, it is
exactly the same finger in. You can join me at this point if you're already confident with the B major scale
and just know we're just changing the D sharp to D. All right. After 41234 over over the third, over the four under under again. Under one more time. Yeah, that's basically
I did one more time. So over with the fourth,
over with the third. Then lastly over
with the fourth, go backwards under
the firm under again, last time, end on
four, just like that. So, I'm now going to play
this with the metronome after 41234 and that's how we do this. Next up I'm going
to be showing you how we play this in both hands.
13. Bm (Melodic) Both Hands : The melodic combiner
in both hands. So I'll play it for you first to metronome and can draw me
if you want to as well. Again, think of it as, think of it like as the B major scale. Okay? And let's take away the
D sharp and turn it into D. Like this over with the fourth in your
left hand under, with the thumb in
your right hand. Th finger over in your left hand under in your right hand, the full finger over
in your left hand go backwards under
in your left hand to go under your left hand to B. Over in your right hand under
in your left hand to the E, with the thumb over to
D in your right hand. And that is it. All
right. Welcome that. And then join me, as always, with the metro 1234, and that is it. And that is how you play the
B minor melodic.
14. Intro F# Melodic minor: New note for the F
sharp melodic scale is D sharp, as you can see. And I'll be showing
you this scale next.
15. F#m (Melodic) Right Hand : For the sharp. My logic minus the only note
that we change from the harmonic min
is D to D sharp. All the other notes
are exactly the same and the fingering
is exactly the same. In the right hand
and the left hand. I'm going to pay
the right hand for you going forward
them backwards. And then we'll play with the metronome
straight afterwards. That is how we play the
sharp melodic minor scale. Now we're going to
play it going forward and backwards with
the metronome. Also, if you find the finger
in a bit challenging, you can change some
fingers around as well. These are just my suggestions
that I think work. But if you find
them really hard, you can make some changes
with the finger as long as it's helpful
for you. All right. So now we're going to do
it with the metronome after 41234. And there we have it guys. So we're gonna look at
our left hand next.
16. F#m (Melodic) Left Hand : Okay guys, we already know
the fingerings and the notes, So I'm gonna play it going
forward and backwards. And then we'll do it with a metronome straight afterwards. So it goes like this. All right, that is it. So now let's play with
the metronome 1234, and that is it. Next up I'm going
to show you how to play this in both hands.
17. F#m (Melodic) Both Hands : Right guys. So we're going
to do in both hands now. So I'm going to
play nice and slow, going forward, and then back. And then we're going to do
this for the metronome next. Just make sure you're
playing the same notes at the same time in
both of your hands, and you will be fine. So make sure you've
got the right fingers as well in the right places. Now let's play with
the metronome. 123 Go. All right? And that's
how we play our F sharp melodic minor
in both hands.
18. Intro C# Melodic minor: For our C sharp melodic scale, our new note is
going to be a sharp. I'll show you this
next up. Okay.
19. C#m (Melodic) Right Hand : So I'm going to demonstrate
to you now the de, flat melodic minor skill
in the right hand. And then I'll break
it down to you next. So I want to think of this
scale as the flat major scale. So what we have now done,
we have replaced the, with the E. Now we no
longer play the F note, but we play the note. But order notes are exactly
the same as deflator, as the flat major scale. Okay? If you know the
deflat major scale, this will be easier for
you because all you're changing now is the F to the. If you don't already know it, go back to the lesson
where I'll show you how to play the deflat major scale. All right? So all we're
doing now is changing the F to the. All right, But order notes
are exactly the same. I'll play it for
you one more time. You can join me this time, then I'll play the metronome
straight afterwards. So, the only white
notes are E and C. And there we have it. That's it. So, I'm going to
pay you now with the metronome and you can join me when you ready. 1234. And that is, it
goes. So next up, I'll show you the left hand.
20. C#m (Melodic) Left Hand : For the left hand, Erin
is exactly the same. The fingering and the
notes are exactly the same as the flat major scale. But as I mentioned before, all we're now changing
is the node to the E. I'm going to play it for you one time
through up and down. Then we're going to play
with the metronome. If you do not know
the flat major scale, I suggest that you go
back to that lesson where I taught that in the
left hand and then come back here because
it'll make it so much easier for you to
learn this scale here. All right, so I'll play
it free now for them backwards then we'll do with
the metronome afterwards. And they're right there. All right guys, So
let's play this with a metronome now, 123 go. So that is it guys. So next up we're gonna put both
hands together.
21. C#m (Melodic) Both Hands : In both hands together.
Right? It's going to be easy for you
as long as you know your D flat major
skill. All right? So I'm going to get
straight into this. I'm going to play
it in both hands. First going up and down, then playing with a metronome
straight afterwards. Okay, that's how we played. So now I'm going to pave
the metronome after 41234. That is it guys. So, work
on that scale for me. Again, as I mentioned, go back to the D
flat major scale if you're finding it
tricky to play this one. Because once you can understand
the D flat major scale, this scale won't be hard at all, will be
pretty easy for you, because all you're
changing is one note, okay? So let's work on that.
22. Intro G# Melodic Minor: The G sharp melodic minus
scale has as its new note, and I will demonstrate
this to you next.
23. G#m (Melodic) Right Hand : For the sharp,
melodic minus scale. Instead of playing the
note, we play the F note. Now that's the only difference. The fingering is all the same. So I'm going to
play it free once, going forward, them backwards. And then we're going to
play with the metronome straight afterwards. All
right, so it goes like this. So we are now going to play
this with the metronome. 123 Go. Okay, and that is it. So next up is the left hand.
24. G#m (Melodic) Left Hand : The plan is all the same
and we already know that the new note is going
to be. So let's go. Alright. That's how we
play it, So watch already. Join me with the metronome 123. Go and that's how we play
in the left hand. So next up, we're going to put both of our hands together.
25. G#m (Melodic) Both Hand : We're going to put both
of our hands together. So watch me first as I'll go
up and down in both hands. And then we'll play together
with the metronome. And there we go. So
I'm going to play with the metronome now and I'll like you to join me once
you're full, ready. 123 go. So that is it guys.
So working on G sharp, melodic minor scale.
26. Intro D# Melodic Minor: Our next melodic minus
scale is the D sharp. Melodic minus scale. The notes of this Skell are
D sharp sharp sharp sharp, C, D and D sharp. As you can see, I'm going to
show you this Skell next up.
27. D#m (Melodic) Right Hand: Okay, so for the D sharp
melodic minus scale, the only difference is now
is that we're changing the B to C from the
harmonic minor. With the harmonic minor, we went from B to D to D sharp. In the melodic minor, it's going to be C to D
to D sharp at the end. All right. That's
the only difference. So we're not playing no more. We're playing now, I'm going
to play it for you first, and then we'll break
it down afterwards. So as I said earlier, all we're doing now is
changing that B to C, okay? So it's all the same as
the harmonic minus scale, apart from the new
know which is. So I'm now going to play
with the metronome. Join me once you feel confident
and ready to join me with the metronome after 41234, and that is it. So next up I'm going to be
showing you the left hand.
28. D#m (Melodic) Left Hand: The left hand is all the
same as the harmonic minor, apart from the new note, which is C's instead
of the B note. I'm going to play
it for you now, going forward and backwards. And then I'm going to
play with the metronome. So I'm now going to play it. You can join with me, or you can watch me and then play with
me with the metronome, And that is it. So
I'm now going to play with the metronome, 1234. And that is it guys. So next up we're going to put
it in both hands.
29. D#m (Melodic) Both Hands: Guys, I'm gonna play you
in both hands for Yes, Going forward and backwards. Then we'll play with the
metronome straight afterwards. All right? That is it.
So as long as you know your flat harmonic minor
scale in both hands, this won't be easy for you
because all we're changing is the B to the C. All right, so now we're going to
play with the metronome. So join me when you're ready. 12, free go and that is it.
30. Intro A# Melodic Minor: Our next goal is the
sharp, melodic minor. And the notes are A sharp, C sharp, D sharp sharp. I will show you
this one next up.
31. A#m (Melodic) Right Hand : A melodic minus scale. We add another black, which is sharp now, has been canceled out now. And from the a natural
minus scale has turned to sharp and sharp in
a melodic minus scale. Let me play this for you
first and you'll get an idea of how it sounds.
It goes like this. Same finger as well. Now,
the first finger on sharp. Finger on sharp, keep going, and that's how it goes.
Pretty straightforward. Again, same finger in, but we are now just
including the F sharp note. Once you fully understand it, join me now without no
metronome after 41234 sharp and go back over, and that's basically it. So now let's do this for
the metrono after 41234. There we have it guys.
That's how we play the a melodic minor going forward and backwards in our right hand. Next up is our left hand.
32. A#m (Melodic) Left Hand : So far. Left hand
fingering is all the same as the harmonic minor. I'm going to get
straight into this now, so watch my fingers or you
can play along with me before I play with the metronome.
So it goes like this. So just work on that scale before you join me
with the metronome. But just remember that it's only just one note
that's changed. The F sharp has now
turned to, okay, that's the only
difference between that discale and the
harmonic minus scale. So now I'm going to play with
the metronome after 41234. So work on this scale on
your left hand and then join me next as we put
both hands together.
33. A#m (Melodi) Both Hands : Okay, you guys are going to put both my hands together
now for this scale, going to go forward
and then backwards to watch my fingers
very carefully. I'll play it nice
and slow for you. And then once you're ready, and once you understand
how to play in both hands going
forward and backwards, join me with the metronome. All right? I'm
going to start now. Make your fingers. Yeah. So we start and
end on the same finger. Okay. So work on that. Please don't just jump straight
in with the metronome. Play nice and slow and
then drum me afterwards. So now I'm going to
play with the metronome after 412341 more time. So that is how you play
the sharp moomino.
34. Intro Fm Melodic Minor: The F melodic minus scale. Our new note is going to be. I'll show you this next time.
35. Fm (Melodic) Right Hand : Now looking at our
melodic minus scale. So the only differences
between this one and the harmonic scale is we no
longer play the C sharp, but now we play D. All right, so the only black notes we play are the flat and
the B flat note. I will demonstrate this
in the right hand first, then I will break it down, and that is it. The
finger is all the same as the harmonic minus
scale as mentioned before. The only difference
is, is that we're playing D and no C sharp. So what I would like you to
do is practice this skill. And again, all the same finger, just change that shop to D. All right, then
once you're ready, join me with the
Metro after 41234, and that's how we play the melodic minor in our right hand. Next up is our left hand.
36. Fm (Melodic) Left Hand : The left hand fingerings all the same as it was
in the right hand. The only note that's
changed is the C sharp to D. I'm going to play up and down once then with the
metronome next. There we have it guys. Once you can do that,
then join me with the metronome after 41234. And that is it
guys. The next up, we're looking at both hands.
37. Fm (Melodic) Both Hands : I'd like you to work on your
left hand and right hand. I'll play it for you first, going forward and backwards. And then we'll play with the metronome
straight afterwards. So watch my fingers as I go up and down, or you can
play along with me. Then we'll play with the
metronome afterwards. So once you got that
under your belt, then join me with
the metronome 1234, and that's how you play
the melodic minus scale.
38. Intro Cm Melodic Minor: For the melodic minus scale, we'll be playing the notes, and I'll be showing
you this one next up.
39. Cm (Melodic) Right Hand: We're now looking at our
melodic minus scale. The difference between the
harmonic minus scale and the melodic minus
scale is that we're now changing the A flat to A. Okay? All the notes are the same as the harmonic
minus scale. Apart from we have now
changed the A flat note to A. The fingering is all the same for the left hand
and the right hand. So I'm going to
play it free now in the right hand going
forward and then backwards. Another way to
think of this skill is that it's a C major skill, but now you flatten the third. Yes. Another way
to see it as well, so all the white
notes as you can see, as it is for the C major skill. But all I've done is that
I've moved the E to E flat, So that's another way to
actually see this skill. So let me just quickly break
this down to you going forward and backwards.
So it goes up like this. 12 to the flat three. Go under to keep going from
underneath the same pattern. The only black note is the flat. Go backwards further, F over further over. Then we end just like that. So now I'm going to play
with the metronome. When you're ready, join me. 123 go and there we have it guys. That's how you pay the C melodic
minor in the right hand. So next we're looking
at our left hand.
40. Cm (Melodic) Left Hand: Our left hand guys,
it's exactly the same as I mentioned
in the last lesson. In the right hand of the
melodic minor skill, the only thing
we're changing from the harmonic minus
skill is the flat to A. Or the other way to look
at this is that we're flattening the third note
of the C major skill. All right, So we're
turning the E to E flat, but all the other
notes are white, so the only black note is. All right, so I'm going
to play it for you, going forward and backwards, then straight into the
metronome afterwards. So my fingers go over the full finger
over the first finger, over backwards, under, under there,
the last one. And there we have it guys. Alright, so welcome
that and then join me with the metronome 1234. So next up we're going
to put both of our hands together for the
melodic minus scale.
41. Cm (Melodic) Both Hands: So now we put it both together. I'm going to pay one
time through and then I'm going to pay the
metronome straight away. Okay. So you can join me
now or watch my fingers, but as long as you know
you see major skill or C minor skills,
you'll be fine. Because the fingerings
all the same and only a few minor changes that
I mentioned earlier. All right. So it goes like this. All right? And that's
how we play it. So once you're ready,
I would like for you to play with
me with the Metro. No, 123 go. All right guys, and
that's how we play the C melodic minus skull
in both of our hands. Just take your time to practice this skull and you
should be fine.
42. Intro Dm Melodic Minor: The D mylogic miner
has as its new notes. And I will show
you this next up.
43. Dm (Melodic) Right Hand: So far I deem a
logical minus scale. On the right hand, I'm going to show you
how the scale goes. Then I'll break it down for
you. So it goes like this. All right? So it's
pretty straightforward. As long as you know
you're harmonic minor, this will be even easier
for you to understand. All we're doing now
is counseling out the B flat and turn it into a B. The only black note we
play is the C sharp, whereas in the harmonic minor, we played the B
flat and the shop. Now we're just playing the shop. All the notes are white
apart from the shop. Not, let's break this down. And all the fingering is
exactly the same as well. No changes there. We
put our thumb in, the D, go under as usual. Yep. But now the B flat is now B goes to the shop and
everything else is exactly the same.
Then go backwards. So all white notes apart
from the sea shop. Not fall from the shop and end it right there. Welcome that one is going
forward and backwards. But again, it should be
easy for you as long as you know your
harmonic minor scale. All right, so now we're
going to play with the metronome after 41234, So just work on that and I'll see you next
for the left hand.
44. Dm (Melodic) Left Hand: So guys, let you know the
left hand finger is all the same and all we're adding
now is that C sharp note. So I'm gonna play
it for you first, then I'll break it down for you. So it goes like this, and there we have it
guys to break this down. It's very simple, which is 543 to one same thing as before, adding that C sharp by itself, then going backwards under all your five fingers A guys, so we're now going to do
this with the metronome. Let's go of the 41234. So guys, work on that for me and we'll look at putting
both hands together next.
45. Dm (Melodic) Both Hands: You guys are going to
get straight into this. So both our hands together, I'll just note that
the only thing that's changed is the B flat
is now turned to B. So I'm going to play
it for you once, going forward and backwards then we're going to go with the metronome
straight afterwards. Okay, So let's go and there we have it guys, to this place now
with the metronome. So once you've got it, so once you can play this
going forward and backwards, then join me with the
metronome now off the 41234. So guys, as I always say, just work on your left
hand, your right hand, and put in both hands together for the scale, and I
will see you soon.
46. Intro Gm Melodic Minor: The mologular minus scale
has as its new note. And I'll be showing
you this next up.
47. Gm (Melodic) Right Hand: For the left hand. It's
all the same notes we just learned in
the right hand. Okay, so all we're changing
is that E flat to now. I'm going to play it for
you, going forward and backwards then I'm going to go straight to the
metronome afterwards. So you can play
along with me now, or you can watch me
then practice by yourself and then join me with
the metronome afterwards. So it goes like this again. Your first finger land on the E. All right, and that's
how you play it. Okay, so in your own time, practice it at your
own speed as well. Then once you're ready, join
me with the metronome 1234, and that's how we
play the left hand for the melodic minus skill. So next up we're going to be
putting both hands together.
48. Gm (Melodic) Left Hand: So for the left hand it's all the same notes we just learned in the right hand. Okay, so all we're changing
is that E flat to now. Okay. So I'm going
to play it for you, going forward and backwards, and then I'm going
to go straight to the metronome afterwards. All right, so you can
play along with me, so you can play
along with me now. Or you can watch me
then practice by yourself and then join me with
the metronome afterwards. So it goes like this. So again, your first finger land on the E. All right, and that's
how we play it. Okay, so in your own time, practice it at your
own speed as well. Then once you're ready, join
me with the metronome 1234. All right, and
that's how we play the left hand of
the harmonic minus, that's how we play the left
hand for the melodic minus. Next up we're going to be
looking at putting our butt. Next up, we're going to be
putting both hands together.
49. Gm (Melodic) Both Hands: Okay guys, so we are now
going to put both of our hands together for
the melodic minor scale. As I have already mentioned, the E flat has
turned to now, okay? And that's our new note in this scale. So let's
play this now. I'm gona play it for you first, going forward and backwards. Then I'll play with the
metronome straight afterwards. So you can play
along with me now. Or you can watch my fingers
pause, then practice. Then once you already
join me with a metronome, so I'm gona play it right now. So that is how we play our melodic minor scale
in both our hands.
