1. Introduction: You've been thinking about
starting a personal brand, but you have no clue
where to start. Don't fear our money
is here. Just kidding. My name is our module
three, the founder of our money talks
and media company, which helps engineers and entrepreneurs improve their
communication skills. And in this class, you're going to understand
a long-term viewpoint of personal branding. Right now, a lot
of individuals are thinking too small when it comes down to
personal branding. But in this class, you're going to understand the importance of thinking and
themes, not niches. You go to think in terms of
building your one true fan. How to be consistent with creating content
for the long term. Along with plenty
of other topics that will allow you to overcome perfectionism and start building your personal branding
Empire today, if you're ready, I look
forward to seeing you inside.
2. What is Personal Branding: Personal branding is
marketing yourself. It just so happens
that in this era, we have more information
technology than ever before. Individuals can nowadays
become media empires. There's no more gatekeepers. Nowadays. A lot of the
leverage is permission less, which means you
only need desire. Now the thing is, when you have too much opportunity
presented to you, it's easy to overtake. You're going to be
thinking too much in regards to the technology. You're going to be like,
which camera should I get? Which Mike should I get? Do these wires fit
with these wires? And you're focusing so much on the tools that you completely
lose sight of yourself. Understand who you
are, marketing. It is your Self. Which brings us to
the next question. What's so special about you? You need to understand
that if you want to be consistent for the long term. And that's what I'm
going to help you discover in the next video.
3. Think Themes, Not Niches: I'm sure you've
heard of the niches get riches. In my opinion. I'm not a big fan of this quote because I lived with this quote. And unfortunately, I was
burned by this quote. When I was initially
starting my personal brand, I was focused only
on public speaking. I would only think in
terms of this niche. Now, in the initial stages,
this was a good thing. But over time, I started to feel burned out much quicker is because I could only
speak so much about public speaking until I start
running out of material. Right? So I had to reevaluate my entire position and I
started to experiment more. Eventually, I started to learn that whenever tackling
public speaking, a lot of individuals
also needed to learn how to speak
to human beings. Don't look at a crowd. Look at individuals that just happened to be
sitting by each other. This perspective dealt
with social skills. So naturally, I transitioned
from only public speaking to adding social
skills into my arsenal. Once I was dealing
with social skills, I learned that human beings are not simply logical creatures. Instead, they are
emotional creatures. If you can view them as
emotional creatures first, then they just start
making more sense. Suddenly, I added emotional
intelligence into my arsenal. And overtime, I
added creativity. I added concentration
skills into my arsenal. Out of nowhere, I started to get way more topics to speak about. I was no longer thinking in
niches of stinking in themes. I was no longer thinking in
terms of public speaking, only stinking in the theme
of communication skills. So as you're building your
personal branding Empire, you're gonna be thinking, well, what do I talk about? What's my team? You don't have to answer
that question yet. It's okay for you to
start off with a niche. But hopefully you
understand that over time, if you are feeling burnt out, there's always another
opportunity to think and themes. And you'll notice, once
you're feeling burnt out, just take a pause and you'll
see that there's a lot of these other subjects that
you naturally hopped into. As you are discussing
your niche. Think about what all of these
subjects have in common. Once you find out what
they all have in common. That is, when you are
discovering the theme.
4. Pick One Platform, Then Expand: I recommend starting off with one platform than expanding. The reason why I recommend
this approach is because once you start
off with one platform, that's when you're starting to understand what it's
like to create content, you understand a
routine that works for you and you're not biting
off more than you can chew. There are individuals who
start off with Twitter. They build a practice routine. They build an audience, and eventually they
expand onto a podcast. Now, once they're
starting the podcast, they're not just starting
out of the ether. Instead, they can
transition there, put her audience to
their new podcast. So once you're starting off, I try your best to measure one. And it doesn't mean that you're only sticking with this forever. You can, if you would like to
get a proficiency for this, then slowly began expanding
more and more from there. And you will find out that
once you're expanding, you have a lot of
different ideas that you can speak about. Because initially
you focused on one.
5. Being Consistent: No matter which platform it is, you need to be consistent. But consistency means different things to
different people. Let's say you want
to be consistent with emailing your email list. If you go to five people, each of these individuals
are going to give you a different definition
of being consistent. Some people email
only once a year. I've heard of people
that do that. Some people e-mail monthly, some weekly, some daily. So before trying
to be consistent, you need to experiment and you need to understand
what works for you. Initially, when I was
starting my email list, I was focusing on weekly emails. But later on, I felt
as though I wanted to build a stronger relationship
with my e-mail audience. So I began doing it daily. Once I began doing it daily, I noticed that a lot of my
die-hard supporters stuck with me and a lot of people
ended up on subscribing. All good. It doesn't matter if people
stick with me or leave. I'm still going
to be consistent. And hopefully you start to build that same mindset as well. Because it doesn't matter
if you're choosing Twitter. It doesn't matter if
you're choosing YouTube, podcasting, etcetera. You need to build promises which are self
and the more debt, you eventually create a
content creation schedule. You're already in luck. A lot of people don't
even get this far. Now, it's simply a matter
of executing this schedule.
6. Strategic Alliances: Once you have been consistent
with building your brand, you want to form
strategic alliances. The reason that you want to form strategic alliances and
not just alliances, is because on the online space, a lot of individuals
ad clutter pure life. They really don't care if your business and brand
is successful at. They just want to
form a relationship with you so they can move to Alphaville or pitch
their services to you. Therefore, you need to put a lot of emphasis on strategic. Because once you are being
strategic in terms of who can help you and how
you can help them back. That is when you're speeding up the learning curve as you're building on
a certain platform. Others will often come with certain ideas that you
initially never considered. When I was building
my Twitter profile, I never for a second thought about starting an email list. But luckily, there was this one individual who
wanted me to succeed. And overtime I wanted
him to succeed once I got to understand
what he was trying to do with his business. And he was the one who gave me the idea of building the list. So what the correct
strategic alliance. Not only do you get ideas, but you also want to
be consistent as well. Because you see
this other person consistently are getting
better at their craft. Consistently
expanding from niches to teams are providing
value for others. Now you're like, okay, well, what excuse do
I have to be lazy? So a strategic alliance, it gives you added ideas and
it holds you accountable. It's very fulfilling
and it will help you with your personal
branding journey.
7. Sharpen Your Craft: Some people get so obsessed with the numbers that they lose
sight of the bigger picture. They're like, well, what's
my follower count like? What's my retweets like? What's my engagement rate like? But they don't understand that in order to build
a personal brand, it's you then needs to
always remain the focus. For you to remain the focus, you need to always get
better with your craft. If you're, let's say building a personal brand on plumbing. Understand that plumbing
never stands still. Nothing in this world
ever stands still. A plumbers are consistently
getting new technology, new processes, new people, new guidelines which
you have to understand. And the more that
you understand it, the more debt you will be
ahead of your audience, which allows you to
give them value. If you're telling them
what they already know, does that sound
valuable? Of course not. You always need to be a
couple of steps ahead because you're always
sharpening your craft. Initially, when I was starting
off with public speaking, I was very much focused
on public speaking. But the more that I
practiced this craft, the more that I realized
that there were individuals who wanted to learn how to speak in
front of the camera. I saw that. I was like, okay, that's just one
individual who know, that's just two individuals. These individuals are adding up. Whoa, public speaking, that phrase is evolving
before my very eyes. Before public speaking,
men only speaking in front of a crowd in a
geographic location. Nowadays, public
speaking is still that, but it's also being able
to speak in front of machines like a
microphone, like a camera. So by sharpening the
craft organically, I was presented more ideas and I was able to share
this with my audience. So the message is, don't get so caught up
in the numbers that you lose sight of
the bigger picture. It's always the craft that
needs to be at the focus. And the more that you
keep improving it, the more content ideas
that you will get.
8. 1 True Fan: If you create content
for an audience, it's always going
to feel like work. If you create content
for your younger self. It's always going
to feel like fun. This is the biggest cheat
code in order to building your personal brand and
allow me to share my logic. There is this one
author who created this concept known as
1 thousand true fans. And within this concept, he says that you only
need 1 thousand true fans who are willing to
support you and buy everything from you, whatever products that
you release in order to build a successful
personal brand. Now, granted, these are just rough numbers for you
to understand the concept. But you want to know something. Even before thinking 1 thousand, you want to think one. You want to think, how
can I serve one per cent? And often, a lot of
these marketing experts, they get you to focus on
someone other than yourself. I believe the cheat code is to focus on
your younger self. Because by focusing
on your younger self, you're able to automatically empathize with this individual. You understand the certain
pain points that they have, what they struggle with, what they want to learn. Now, your insights
are hyper targeted. As you're focusing on
that one individual, you'll realize that
there are plenty of individuals like
this individual, which allows you to build
more of an organic following, which eventually leads
you to one thousand. One thousand, you can keep
multiplying it from there. But if you focus on
that one individual, you'll notice that there's that ease when you're
communicating. When you're communicating
to a crowd. Something about it. It doesn't feel natural, doesn't
feel organic. It feels as though you're over here like a deer stuck
in the headlights. When you're focusing
on just one entity, your younger self, you
improve creativity. You improve relaxation skills. You improve
introspection skills, along with plenty of
other skill sets. So this is the biggest
cheat code of the mall. Give advice to your younger self and watch your empire
gradually build.
9. Final Project: For the final project,
your goal is to create a report that answers
the following questions. What is your niche or theme? Which platform do you
plan to be consistent on? And what are some hurdles
that you see along the way? Answer these three questions
and you will automatically build your perspective in regards to the personal
branding game. And once you have
filled out this report, go on and post it in the final project section
right down below, I look forward to reading
it and best wishes, which are personal
brand in the making. If you would like to follow the Armani talks personal brand, be sure to check out
