1. Introduction : Hello, my name is Marie graft, YouTuber and Mandela. I do bunch of stuff that helps means we're assuming my passion for artistic creativity. What's amazing about paper crafting specifically is the simplicity and charm. And since that comes from folding a paper into different shapes, even cutting it up to create something new altogether. In this course, I will teach you how to make paper flower decoration and how to actually craft a giant purple flower. I'm here to share all my tips and tricks for making paper flowers. Even if you are never murder paper flower before, these tips will help you get started. To start with basics, we will learn to make 12 simple lower cutouts. This is a basic introduction on how to fold and cut paper to create mini flowers. Once you practice basic shapes of flowers, we will try making some complex flowers. Once done with it, we will learn to make some average state flowers in which we will experiment with pupate and shipped, which we can use in our final declaration. Then we will learn the detailed process of making different types of giant paper flowers that you will get an idea on what preparation is needed for making this plumbers. Then the most important part to learn for our declaration is to create beautiful lip patterns and paper. When's our final giant paper flower declaration? From selecting the colors, petal shapes, leaf patterns, all the preparation that is needed. Then in the final lesson we will assemble all these elements to create a standing paper decoration in which you can use as a backdrop for any events like wedding decor, baby, and even just for kids room and nursery. Flowers are so fun to make and can be used in so many different ways. And better, endless options for color combinations to measure the cost. And the best part is that the whole thing is made from nothing but paper and glue. They're super affordable. But let's start making some beautiful flowers together. 2. Art Supplies Required: Let's see what material you need for this whole course. Scissor, pencil Glue, scale. Lets see which color papers we will need for our paper flowers. These are the craft papers. I usually use this A1 size sheets You can also try using a3 or a4. The thickness of this paper is around 80 GSM. 3. How to Make Simple Flower Cut-outs: If you are someone who loves to spend hours working on beautiful crafts and arts then I bet you know that you can never have too many paper flowers at hand. There's always some use to get out of paper flowers in craft. Our first lesson is about making this beautiful and simple flower cutouts. Let's get started. Start out with the square piece of paper. Here I'm using 8*8 cm paper pieces preferably thin or lightweight paper. You can also use square origami paper. Fold the square diagonally in half to come up with a triangle. Fold the he resulting triangle in half to make a smaller triangle. Fold the resulting triangle again in the middle to come up with an even smaller triangle or the easier way is to fold it in opposite side. For this smooth cut afterwards. Rotate he triangle so that the longest side is positioned vertically and the solid corner is at the bottom. Draw a simple arc on paper. Let's try it on white sheet for proper visibility. Cut the arc using scissor carefully unfold the paper to reveal an 8 petal flower Lets make few more shapes Fold paper diagonally 3 times until it makes a smaller triangle One more simply wider. arc then before . Draw and cut it to make a beautiful flower, Follow the the same procedure to create different shapes. Use your creativity to draw variety of petal shapes. The arc drawn in step four is actually just a basic half petal shape. You do not need to stick to an arc. Try making slight variations with the tip or the upper portion of the petal Create a variety of flowers by using different colors, patterns, and texture of the paper. Try varying the size and steepness of the arc step 4 to come up with interesting flower shapes. Try to cut the shapes in single smooth stoke to give it a fine look. Experiment with different shapes. Take inspiration from real flowers. Use it in your paper craft Glue together 2 or more flower come up with some flowers. Flowers. Photograph thing is a great way to show others. What do you find aesthetically pleasing? With the wealth of opportunities to play with colors, shapes, and textures that you endure. It has given us so many beautiful things to enjoy. The most beautiful creations United at the flowers. So good in different colors and fonts. Reload to take a stroll. When all the flowers bloom, the Clovis increases the happiness level in the blood. On the fragrance in color with Lowery possesses the word has always been a better place to live in. Design to life. Giving knowledge to others is customer ID. Whenever we wish well to someone, we give them flowers. Irritability first thing in the world has a tendency to perish. A better way to give flowers to your loved one will be to give them the clovers, myriad of paper, flowers or plan to make and looks pretty rarely. Use bile salts, small pieces of paper to decorate these flowers. Leave it this way if you want. Deploys to decorate greeting cards, scrapbook, make gift box or bag. Making this flower shapes is a great practice for you in order to create complex flowers. 4. Complex Flower Making (part one): Paper flowers are crafted using simple materials, but the time spent making them is what makes them special. If you’re looking to brighten up your craft session and creations, then you’ve got a ton of creative ways to do so. One of them is paper flowers! You can add them to photo frames, to birthday cards. In this lesson we will learn to make few complex flowers, first one is ever-ones favorite - paper rose, in this lesson we will learn to make three different types of roses. Making Roses from papers are very easy and they will also look like real ones, So lets get started We need 3 square pieces of paper for making one rose Take one square piece of paper and fold it diagonally Make two more diagonal folds. Mark a petal shape on paper. Cut and remove the top portion Take another square paper and follow the same procedure. Use the flower shape we made before to mark the new ones so that the shape of the flower will remain the same. Cut a small hole at the bottom Now open up the paper and you will have a flower shape with a hole at center Take one flower shape, cut and remove one segment from it. Take the second flower shape, cut and remove two segments from it. Take the last flower shape, cut and remove three segments from it. Using a plastic needle or scissor curl edges of all pieces outwards. Take the first larger piece from which we cut and removed segment. Apply glue on one segment, cut the excess part, glue the adjacent segment over the glued portion. Apply glue on edges of remaining smaller pieces we removed from the flower shape, roll and press. Allow the glue to dry. Now we have all six pieces of the rose shapes, take small round paper, Take the largest piece and place the second largest inside. Arrange all other glued pieces inside. Adjust each piece in a different manner to see how they can be glued to make look like real one Apply glue lightly and stick each piece separately Our pink paper rose is ready. For next rose, we will use slightly different curve pattern. Take 10*10 cm square paper, Fold it diagonally three times, Draw a simple curve and cut it. Cut a small hole at the bottom Now open up the paper and you will have a flower shape with a hole at center. Make the three more same size flowers. And cut the segments as we did before. Glue the adjacent segments. Curl it using scissor, and place it from larger to smaller order to create a gorgeous paper rose. For base use a small round paper piece. You can make paper roses using the rolling method which is both quick and easy. Alternatively, you can make paper roses using the folding method but it takes a bit longer and requires more practice. Both methods have a beautiful and impressive end result! For next flower take four square pieces 10*10cm and 8*8cm Fold it diagonally. Draw and cut in shape of flower, Fold the edges of flower to give it a realistic look. Glue the four flowers together, Now for middle take 2cm radius round paper and draw a spiral on it, cut and roll it to make a mini rose, we will learn a detailed process to make this rose in next lesson. Next up, Take three square pieces of different sizes, and will make a different flower by following the previous steps. Keep experimenting with this shapes and sizes and you'll be surprised by the finished products. Now take 30*2cm paper strip, Fold it in half and again in half. cut fringes into your paper and Roll your paper up to form your bud. Your first attempt might look a little rough around the edges, but with a little practice, you'll soon be making paper flowers like a pro. 5. Complex Paper Flower Making (part two): Paper flowers are fun craft to make and require minimal supplies. They also make a great gift to give to someone special. Lets start with making the paper rose Take a square paper of size 20*20cm And using a compass, draw a circle of radius 10cm. Draw a spiral within the circle. Use a pencil to draw a spiral that begins along the edge of the circle. and ends in the center. Start the spiral narrow and make it become wider towards the center Alternatively, you don't need to draw a spiral on the circle if you feel confident in cutting one without having the guideline. Cut out the spiral, follow the guidelines of the spiral that you drew in the circle. You can erase any pencil lines after you have cut the spiral out, if you like. Roll he paper tightly in a spiral shape Begin at the narrow end of the spiral and roll the paper toward the center. The paper tightly so that it doesn't easily unravel. Fold the spiral center to make a flat base for the rolled paper. The flat base is the bottom of the rose. Let the rose uncoil to its preferred size. Stop letting the rose unravel when it is the size that you want. Glue the base to the bottom of the rose. Cut the extra part from the base. Once the glue is dry, the rose is complete and ready to use. Next up, we'll be making the origami flower, which is called as kusudama flower. For that 12cm paper. Fold the square piece of paper in half diagonally. Fold the triangle bottom 2 corners to its point. Fold each previous fold backwards, halfway. The back-folded back edges to line up with the edges of the square underneath. Expand the triangles you folded in the previous step. Tuck in the triangular point sticking out on the both sides. Fold the left and the right most corners inward along the creases that already exist. The resulting outline should once again be a square, glue the top of the folded flap. Bring the folded flaps together fastening them in flex Make 4 more of this. Apply glue to the central sim of each piece. Begin pressing the pieces together. The five cones will make the Kusudama flowers 5 petals. Continue adding pieces until you have assembled the entire flower. Glue everything together in a circular formation. The pretty kusudama flower Can be made by folding 5 or 6 square pieces of paper. If you make 12 flowers, they can be assembled into beautiful kusudama ball. 00:06:49.510 --> 00:06:55.760 Take 15*3.5cm paper. Fold it horizontally, then vertically Draw a line at the bottom. Cut vertical lines into the strip leaving the line untouched. If you want tiny petals ,make this snips together. IF you want larger petals make them further apart. Open it up and glue the both together Start rolling it from one side, making a middle bud for our flower. Take another sheet, draw a line at around 1 cm, fold the paper twice and draw and cut the fringes leaving the line untouched. The strip should still include every layer of paper that you started with .No need to cut one sheet at a time. Take your cut up strip and wrap it around the bud. Roll and roll until you come to the other side of this strip and it's all wrapped up. Spread them out and squish them a little. Your classic strip flower is ready. You can use this to make different wall hangings. A classic flower will be made up of only one shade, . but if you're feeling adventurous, combine a few together. How much you should cut will depend on the size of the flower you want to make. If you are making several flowers, experiment with different sizes, Just cut strips that are of various widths and it will automatically create smaller and bigger flowers. For our next flower, we will be making same paper bud sheet as before. Then take 14*10 cm sheet. Fold is in half, draw a line at bottom around 1.5cm. And then cut some strips with the gap of around 0.2 cm. Make two cutouts sheets like this and then glue them on each other. Take two paper bud sheets and start rolling it until it makes a big flower bud. Take your cut up strip and wrap it around the bud. Roll until you come to the other side of the strip and it's all wrapped up. Cut the extra portion of it. Spread them out and squish them a little. 6. Large Paper Flower Making : Before directly jumping on to making giant flowers, we will first learn to make average size flowers to understand the process. We will be making 8 different shapes of petals. let's start with the first. Take 5 pieces of size 12*10 cm paper. Take one sheet and fold it in half widthwise. Draw a petal shape on it starting from top to bottom and cut it smoothly. At he base of the petal, cut the middle line. This will create two flaps. Make 4 more similar petals by cutting 2 or 3 petals together. Will save much of your time when you are creating flowers on large-scale, just make sure that it doesn't affect the quality of cut on edges of the petal For the base take a square paper and draw and cut a circle of radius 4cm. Now take the petals and glue the flap so that it overlaps the other. By doing this, it will cause the petals to sit at an angle instead of laying flat. Do the same for remaining 4 petals. Once done, glue this petals one on the base we created before. To make the center of the flower, take 20*10cm sheet, and fold it in half length-wise and then vertically, You are now going to cut a fringe, but make sure you cut from the side that is folded. Don’t cut all the way through; leave about a 1cm gap from the edge. Once you have fringed the sheet, open and glue it on the other side. Now begin rolling it up. Use some glue along the way to keep it in place. Now all you have to do is add glue to the center and add it to your flower! Now before going further let's practice and try some different shapes of petals for our flowers. For making giant paper flowers you have to follow few steps which starts with choosing sizes and shapes of petals, cutting them and arranging them on the base and creating a center. You can draw this shapes on cardboard or thick papers to create templates for your flowers and decorations Once you have this template, you don't really have to worry much about getting start with giant decorations, you can just refer this templates and choose the preferable shapes sizes to create your own shapes by taking inspiration from this. Lets use few of this designs and make some flowers to see how it actually looks after its done. Follow the same procedure for cutting the flaps, creating base and center and arranging all the elements together. This is a very versatile technique and you can get so many different flowers just by changing the petal shape, size, color, and the center 7. How to Make Giant Paper Flower: In this lesson, we are going to learn each and every detail step to make a giant paper flower. First step is petal making and for that we will need three different sizes and colors of paper to make three layered flower. Here I'm using the red, orange, and yellow. First take your big paper sheet and fold it in half widthwise. draw the rose shape on it and cut the petal. Stack 5 half sheets, trace the large petal and cut out. At the base of each petal, cut a 2" slit . This will create 2 flaps. Glue the flaps so that it overlaps the other. By doing this, it will cause the petals to sit at an angle instead of laying flat For the outer layer, you do not want your petals to angle too much. So do not overlap the flaps too much. As you move in, the petals should stand straight up. so for your medium and small petals, you want to glue the flaps so they overlap more. Follow the same procedure for medium and small size petals. Make 6 petals in every size. Next step is to make base for our flower, for that we are going to use a hexagon shape, A regular hexagon features six equal sides and six equal angles. and because we are using six petals for every layer, it is easier to use hexagon than a circle. Take a square paper and using a compass, draw a circle of radius 7cm. Move the compass point to the edge of the circle. do not change the angle settings of the compass. Make a small mark on the edge of the circle with the pencil. Move the compose point to the mark you made. make another mark on the edge of the circle with a pencil. Make the last 4 marks using the same method. You should end up back at the mark where you originally started. Mark the dots with pencil. Connect the dots with a ruler The 6 places where your marks cross the edge of the circle are the 6 points of your hexagon. Use your ruler and a pencil to draw a straight line segment that connects the adjacent dots. Now cut these guidelines using scissor Lets arrange this petals we made on the hexagon base Take the larger petal and glue it on each side of hexagon. Curl the petals using scissor. This step is to be done before you glue your petals on the base so we will curl the remaining pieces before we glue it on the base. Use medium petals for next inner layer, glue them in between 2 red petals Finally the small yellow petals in-between the orange petals. Last step is to make the center for our flower. To make the center of flower, take 24*14cm sheet and fold it in half lengthwise and then vertically Cut the fringes Don't cut all the way through. Leave 1cm gap from the edge. Once you have fringed the sheet open and Glue it on other sides. Now begin rolling it up along the way to keep it in the place Glue the center and admire your pretty flowers. We will make 2 more giant flowers, but using different colors, shades and petal shapes and sizes. Follow the same procedure as before. Cut the petals in three different sizes and colors. Glue it on the hexagon base in3 layers and add the center bud to it. Once you understand the steps you can create infinite numbers of giant flowers of your choice. You can use different patterns, colors , sizes. even the material. 8. Paper Leaves and Paper Vine Making: Adding paper leaves and vines to your giant 00:00:11.040 --> 00:00:12.675 flowers can be a perfect. finishing touch. In this lesson, I'm going to teach you how to create paper leaves and paper vines. I have designed lots of paper leaves and vines since I started paper crafting. And let me tell you when you are looking at your flowers and thinking something is missing. It is probably the leaf. If it is hard to create shapes by your own. just gather some leaves from garden and observe the shapes and try creating patterns from it. First we will try making some designs on plain people to get an idea. I have kind of lost track of how many different paper vines and leaves I have designed. But I'm going to round them off for you. We will start with making some pointy leaves and then move on to making the Bahamas leaves and paper vines. Take 14*7cm paper. Fold it horizontally and draw simple leaf pattern and cut it open. For next one, create a simple leaf design and Then starting from the tip of the leaf make small and even accordion folds. Unfold the paper to create that 3D effect on paper. Next up another pointy leaf. Draw the structure, cut it smoothly and cut small triangle from the edges starting from the tip to bottom. Similarly with the big paper sheet cut the shape of your choice and some downward triangles. Next up is the bahama leaf. Hold and draw plain leaf structure and then draw this rounded abstract design on the edges. This leaf pattern goes really well with any kind of giant paper flower. Lets design and practice some leafy vines. First one is long fern leafy vine. Paper vines are generally easy to draw, but when it comes to cutting it needs good crafting skills. You need to handle the scissor properly to give a smooth cut around the edges. This fern leaf template is great to use with small design. Then the round tip vine. Draw the bubble like structure and cut it. The veining technique can be used on any leaf design, even the basic one. It will give you your backdrop or arraignment. A slightly classic farmhouse rustic appeal. 3 point leaf template. This template often goes good with small flower design. Last one paper butterflies. Paper butterflies are not dainty but also fun to make. When you are finished you can use these butterflies around the giant flowers. 9. Final Decoration (preparation): Over the past eight years, I've been making this blooms and received plenty of questions on how to display your paper craft. It's no doubt that people want to do DIY for their events. And this is a wonderful way to accomplish that. This large easy paper flowers are perfect for backdrops to use as a photo spot or Just to make a big statement at special events like weddings or baby showers. So our last two lessons are based on how to plan and assemble these kinds of giant flower decorations. Starting with selecting paper colors, you can choose any kind of color schemes according to the event. Here I'm using an analogous color scheme, which is a group of three colors next to each other on the color wheel. Making a petal template. Decide what flower you will be making and plan accordingly. Decide the shapes and create templates using a cardboard or thick paper sheet select any two shapes we learned in previous lessons and make template for our paper flowers. 4 different petals like this and 3 different hexagon sizes for the base. Take the large paper and draw and cut a petal shape. Similarly cut the remaining three. Once we have the templates, it's easy to make flower petals. We will be making 2 red, 2 orange , 2 yellow and 2 lemon yellow flowers. Some small flowers to place in between the flowers. Let's start with making petals first. For the red flower use largest three petals. Let's give this petals name for a clear understanding. P1,P2,P3 and P4 From the bottom of the petal cut a slit about halfway up to the center to create 2 flaps, glue them on each other. and using scissor curl the petals in the outer direction. You can do multiple petals at one time by putting the stacks of paper inside the folded paper. Cut a slit in the bottom of each petal, cross the 2 pieces and hold with glue so the petal stands up. before gluing petals give them shape and dimension. Curl the tips of each petal in or out. Now create a bunch of petals in a few different sizes. Now that you have cut out all of the pieces, its time to put the flowers together. Use the largest hexagon template as the center base of red and orange flowers and the center bud as we learned in previous lessons, we will glue petals onto this piece of hexagon. Begin gluing the largest petals onto the base. Overlap petals to fill gaps as you glue them down. The more you overlap it, the fuller the flower will look. But the more petals you will need to cut. Continue gluing petals on around the hexagon, until you get back to the first one. don't worry If they aren't evenly spaced, real flowers aren't perfect either. each layer will have smaller petals. Continuing the process with red flower, add a 3rd row using small petals. Finally add the center bud to it. The giant paper flowers with three layers of protection is ready. For our next yellow flower we will use P2 and P3 petal templates. Make six petals for each layer. Assemble it using medium-sized hexagon. Add the center to it. Next up, lemon yellow flowers P3 and P4 petal sizes. We'll use smallest templates and hexagon base. Make 6 large and 5 small petals and add the center bud to it. Once done with giant flowers, we will make some average size flowers to decorate in between the giant ones. Hold the paper width wise and draw a simple curve on it. Cut and glue the flaps. Now for center, we will make the flower cut out. We learned in first lesson. Fold the square diagonally 3 times and cut the pointed arc. Remove one segment from it stick the adjacent petal on it using glue. Curl the petal outward. Now, let's assemble the flower. Use the circle for base and glue all the five petals evenly around it. Add small flower at the center. Create 2 red orange and yellow flower. and 4 lemon yellow flower for the final decoration. 10. Final Decoration (assembling all the elements): Outside of special events, Giant flowers are great to use as home decor. Nursery wall decor is a really popular choice for large paper flowers. Lot of people want to know how to do this for themselves and to customize the paper blooms, just like they want. In this lesson, we will decide which leaves patterns will go well with our giant flowers. We will first arrange few flowers and leaves to see how it actually looks. And according to that, we will make paper leaves for our final decoration. I've selected this bahama leaves and fern leafy vine and maybe some 3 petal leaves. Use the leaves we created in previous lesson as a template. Create as many as you'd like in your final decoration, as per the number of flowers you will be using. Now using these flowers and leaves, you can create small arrangement for your living room or maybe workplaces. For our final decoration we will be using all the flowers and leaves we made to create giant backdrop decoration for any sort of event. Lets see how you can arrange these elements on wall or maybe on curtains. For wall you can consider using these double-sided tape, use small rectangular pieces for each flower and leaves. And for curtains if available, you can use this metal pins. For our declaration, I'm going to stick these flowers on the wall using the double-sided tape. Lets start arranging. We will arrange all the flowers and leaves in U-shaped curves. First one is this gradient flowers we made in our 8th lesson. Next, arrange 2 red flowers on both side of it. Press gently after sticking it on the wall. We will continue to arrange flowers in order to create gradient color scheme. Arrange all the flowers from large to small sizes. Arrange the remaining small flowers in-between them, according to the colors of giant flowers. Paper flower has been very popular for its easy to make and gorgeous addition to your home and events. Finally start adding the large Bahamas leaves on both sides and then the leafy vines near them and finish it with 3 petal leaves at the bottom. Paper flowers are perfect for decorating your home. This blooms can also make great handmade gifts and many are perfect for events too. Here our final decoration is complete Hope you have understood the whole process and will be able to make variety of different flower decorations like this. Congratulations on completing this whole course.
