I'm an illustrator and artist from Scandinavia.

I have always loved drawing and painting. I love working with watercolors, ink and color pencils!

Joining Skillshare has really helped me improve my art. I love painting loose watercolors, but also work on portraits and drawing animals. I'm very inspired by nature!

I am currently studying multimedia design, to learn more about graphic design, webdesign and communication.

I'm currently teaching two watercolor classes, and hope to make more classes soon!

1. Intro: My name is Maya. I'm an illustrator, an artist from done. Mark and I love to work with water colors in this class. I want to show you how to paint some beautiful watercolor Galaxies. First, I'm going to go over the supplies needed for this class. Then I'm going to show you how to step by. Step paint, Watercolor galaxy. This class is meant for those who are new to watercolors. But if you're more advanced than I hope to give you some inspiration and for the class project, you're going to paint your own watercolor galaxy. 2. Supplies: Let's talk a little bit about the supplies you're going to need for this class. You're going to need some watercolor paper. And I was at least 240 grams of paper, which is cold pressed on. I like to use rough paper that is glued on 44 size so I don't have to stretch my paper. I simply cut along the sides of my painting. I wasn't stunned, and of course you're going to need some water. I'm of course you're going to need some watercolors. And if you have some white acrylic paints, that would be really nice to use in this class. You don't have to have it, but it's really nice to paint stars with. If you have a wife gel, come your Houston as well. Then, of course, you're going to need some water for Berges. I recommend using an old brush for splashing techniques. It's a really good idea to have some paper towels, right? If you have some asking Floyd, that is great for painting stars. Okay, now let's start painting 3. Using masking fluid: masking fluid is used to cover up some part of the painting that you don't want to get paint on. This is really great for painting stars and other glowing stuff to use masking fluid. Start by shaking the bottle well, then taken all brush on splash around the paper like this. You can also use an old toothbrush. You could also paint with a knitting pin and like depend. These levels barrels on planets. With my masking food, it's going to look really cool. Astro Wars If you'd use a brush, then you should clean it immediately after painting with asking for it to clean your netting pin, you just need. He's a paper towel to dry it off comes right off, so it's really easy. Once you're done splashing the masking fluid around, you have to wait for it to dry completely before teaming. 4. Painting the galaxy : I make some mixing red with a lot of water. I usually put a few drops of water and to my paint so it will lose enough. The pain l a bit before I start painting. Then I cover my entire painting with water. Then I started painting with my pink paint. I just use a little bit of paint paint in the middle of my opinion. Then I use a lot of blue for the rest of the painting. I also like to mix him a little bit of purple or green, but it's really up to you what it is you want to use if you asked. Some think that can be really beautiful to mix them. If you're not sure what kind of colors you like to mix them, you can take my other class under the sea. It's about mixing colors. I'm trying different color combinations for your paintings, and there's a really nice color exercise there as well. I add a lot of blue pigment to my painting because it's going to dry lighter, so I want you achieve a rich color using lots of pigments. I mix in some black on, but I want the paint to mix on his own, so I don't push it around a lot. I just stabbed him. This is where you can use ink or violent or another dark color like a very dark blue. It will look really beautiful. - If you're painting, it's really wet. You can soak some of the most off with. It's a paper towel. No, I take some of my white acrylic paint to splash it in and create some stars. And I'm using my finger, Um, making a flipping motion with my brush. Teoh, create this splashing effect. You can also use a toothbrush for this. I keep adding some more paint on telling me like my penny Mr. And then I just let it dry completely before moving on. 5. Finishing touches: not a lot of my panting is dry. I can use my fingers to gently rub away of the masculine. Then I just brush it away with my hands. I'm feeling what is under the masking fluid. It's so much fun. I really enjoy this process, but it's taking a while, so I'm going to speed off the beginning for you. If you have a wife gel time, your comm used that now and paint some more stars or other details. It's really up to you if you want to your paint on top of the painting. Once it's drying, you can have some more color on. You can also paint planets with some maybe yellow car. It's really up to you. I want these comments to look like they're glowing. So that's why I'm paining with a little bit of orange and yellow on him on. I think it looks really cool. While the planets are still wet, a little bit more orange Teoh create on interesting shadow effect, and now that my painting is done, it's your turn to make an galaxy 6.
