1. Introduction: Hello everyone. Welcome to this class on painting watercolor. Florio's. My name is Lisa and I'm a watercolour artists from Malaysia. You can find me on Instagram where I share my art works and some short video tutorials. In this class we are going to pink four types of watercolor Florio's. I will show you step-by-step on how to paint a cost small flower. A pansy. Adele Athenian, and my favorite flower, the Paeony. We'll practice some basic watercolor techniques, such as sweat on dry, wet on wet glazing, and how to create color bleeds. So if you loved painting forest, This class is perfect for you.
2. Supplies: Let's take a look at the supplies that you need for this class. For papers, we need a 100% cotton compress or the condor papers. Now because cotton paper can absorb and hold more water, it will stay moist longer than the cellulose paper. Therefore, it's important to use a 100% cotton paper because we be painting wet on wet for some of our flora rose. So we need our people to stay wet for a longer amount of time. Now you'll be using round rushes to pain and floras. So here of course, trees in that tech brushes in a size to 610, but I'll mostly be using this size six. I also have a natural hair brush here. Now this is good for Linda wet washes cause it holds a lot of water. Now I prefer to use a synthetic brush when a working web on where this is because a synthetic brush hosts less pain than an Azure hair brush. This way I can have better control on amount of pain that I unload on a wet surface. You also need the pellet, our plate to mix your colors and to absorb excess moisture or pain from your brush, you need a paper towel or an old rag. And make sure you have a job, clean water to rinse on your brush. Now for the paints, you don't have to use the exact colors and brands. The amusing. You can use any similar colors in your palette. Or you can try mixing your own kindness. So these are the colors that I'll be using in this class. Lemon yellow, permanent yellow, deep. John, brilliant roles, bright opera, but Sienna, violet, ultra marine, only screen viridian and royal blue. Now if you don't have a royal blue, you can use civilian blue or diluted mix of cobalt blue.
3. Cosmos Flower: For our cosmos, flowers will be using the following colors. Permanent yellow di, rose phyla are shallow marine burden, CNR or Leaf Green and viridian. I've prepared a very diluted mix of algae marine. So I'll start by loading my brush with this mix opinion center using god-like marks. Then using the same makes our pains on PEDOT PSS with jagged edges. Now as you can see, Tardos of pin on the petals. So I'm just going to spray them around and let them so into the paper. Cause I can see some parts of the paper are starting to drive. Now we need our people to stay wet to allow us enough time to work wet on wet. Then I'm going to grab my dark pink and this to the center of the flower and letting it be. Now make sooner European mix is not too diluted or otherwise it was spread all over the entire flower. We can also add a little bit of pink to the flower tips. And because the paper is wet, if a plan nicely into the petals. And now with a ring, send them brush. I'm gonna draw out some of that pink to create shadow lines in our patios. And you can also use the end of your pin brush to draw more define lines. Now I'm going to add a bit more saturated pink to the center and also to some of the patho tips costs. The previous layer has started to fade. To further document, decenter our ad libitum, file it to my pink makes and drop it on the center line. Now DES not much water in this mix costs. I don't want it to bleed too much. Then are used the end of my paintbrush to draw some shadow lights for the flower's center out in little dots of yellow and burnt Sienna by some purple dots along the edge of the center. Here I'm using a thick consistency of violet as I don't want it to bleed too much into the patterns. Alternatively, you can allow the potatoes to dry completely before adding this yellow center to prevent color bleeds into the paddles. Now cosmos, you could stem and leaves. So we're paying them using density of our brush. Here. I'm using olive green, but you can use whatever green sea life from. Now on for the site facing flower, I'll make a ping mark to indicate the base of the flower by the pentose originate. Then I'll use my ocean marine makes to add independent rows. We can add more century the pink to the base and the pentose tips and let the color bleed. Then we'll draw out some shadow lines from this pink mark. Now and for the flower, but I'll make a few SEE strokes and I'll also paying too tiny leaves at the base of the site flower. We repeat the remaining leaves once decide flower is completely dry, cause we don't want any green splitting into the flower. So for the leaves are pink, thin, wispy strokes. And our document with a bit of a region. Now once the site facing flour and flower but are completely dry, we'll finish the painting by adding tiny leaves at the base of each flower.
4. Pansy: Two, p naught and C, we'll only be using three colors, permanent yellow, deep rows, and violet. So here I've prepared a very diluted mix on phyla. And we're going to use this as the base color for our pencil. So I'm going to load my brush with a good amount of wash. And I'll start with the two side patterns. Apply a nice even layer of wash and make sure that pain is evenly distributed and there are no water produce. Here. I'm keeping the wash on the wet site so it doesn't dry out before we have time to draw in our colors. If you want to learn more about watercolor techniques, do check out the video on watercolor techniques in my first skew share class. Now wants to be very returns to a machine. We can start working wet on wet. So switching to a size six synthetic brush, I'll grab my Ping makes. Remove access pain and slowly tab in the color along the edge of the petals. Now make sure there's not much water in the mix. We don't want you to spread too fast and onto the entire pectoral. For beginners, you can use a smaller brush like a size two for better pain control. This way, you only release a small amount of pain each time you tell your brush on the paper. Next, using my size to brush, I'll pick up a small amount of saturated violet. And I'll talk in a little bit at a time onto the pink areas. Now here I'm using a smaller brush cause I do want to unload too much violet onto the paper. This is because I still want to ping areas to remain visible. We can also tap in the bitmap pink, as long as the paint is still wet. Then repeat the same steps for the lower pesto. You can allow your site pentose to dry completely before adding this newer patho. So this we prevent any unwanted color bleeds. Now, I usually use a synthetic brush when I'm painting right on red cars, a synthetic brush holds less pain than a natural hair brush. This way, I have better control over the amount of pain that I released onto the wet vapor. Next, we'll paint the top petals using our pink makes and Mark opinions to read. We'll add some shadows and beings. Now while the pain is still red, I'm going to type in the bidder violet to create some shadows. Then I'll use the tip of my brush to draw some veins. Then I'll do the same for the petal on the left while leaving a white space between these two pentose. Now before adding details, make sure the paint is completely dry. So here I'm using permanent yellow deep to add in the center. Then lastly, use the tip of my brush to paint some famous lines coming out from the center.
5. Delphinium: Now for our Delphi's, we'll be painting small petals. So for beginners, I recommend you use a smaller brush that aside to cause if you use a larger brush, you might overlook your brush. We paint and farm produce of pain on a pentose. That's why it's better to use a smaller brush as you pick up less amount of paint. Also is better to use a synthetic brush, cause a post less pain than a natural hair brush. Now, we'll be painting some front-facing flowers and site flowers far down filename. For the front-facing flowers, you create four to five petal flowers. The tip of my brush to meet these pentose shapes. And for the sunflowers will create to-do tree path of flowers. Now, I'll be using a size six brush costs. I want to pin them quickly. We'll be using these three colors to pina flowers, YOU blue, ultra Marine can vibrate. To get started, I'll use a pencil to let me sketch a sentence stem far down. This will give me a rough idea on where to place the flowers. Now the Darwinian has a conical shape where the base is white. And as we move outwards it becomes smaller. So we'll keep that in mind when he p-naught flowers. Now to create some interests in our painting, we are going to vary the colors of flowers by switching between the three colors that I mentioned earlier. Now I'm going to start with file it for the first petal and then our rinceaux, my brush and pick up some light blue depict the next factum. And again, rinse out my brush, but this time with more water to it, my brush out, dilute their royal blue to create a lighter blue. Then I'll just pick up another color for the next pencil. We can also use clean water to pull out colors from the adjacent petals to create lighter tone. Now to add la contrasts and depth to our painting, we need to have some dark and light tones. So far the darker tones, we will just use a fake consistency of filing and algae marine. And for the lighter tones, our light blue and clean water to pull out colors from the adjacent paddles. So I'm basically just switching between these three colors and letting a pentose touch to allow the colors to bleed and plan with one another. As a result, we have this smooth colour transition in our flowers, ranging from light to dark tunes. So this add small dimension to our painting and make it look less flat. Now, instead of fully loading my brush with paint, I'm using just the tip of my brush to pick up p from my palette. This way I'll have less pain on my brush and less likely to form puddles of pin on the petals. Period. And we can document the flower's center with some phyla. Rather pain is to remember to add flowers on both sides of the center stem. And also keep in mind that the base of the Delphic near miss wider. So you need to add more flowers at the bottom. And as we move up, you'll add more site flowers. And right at the top, you'll add the flour. Now make sure to always reinstall your brush before picking up a lighter color so you don't contaminate that color with the dark pigments from your brush. Now at this point, I realized that my flowers are out of alignment from the center stamp. So I'm just trying to see where I should place the stem later on. But for now, I'll just add some psi potatoes to balance out the overall shape. So now I'll pick indices into stem before adding some sites lowest and flowerbeds ended top. Now beside flowers at the top should be smaller than the ones at the bottom. You can also make them lighter in color if you like. Next, connect these sunflowers and flower buds, datacenter stamp. Over here we have some flammable logic open. So for this we just pick the breed. And now I'll connect the rest of the flowers to the center step. This bottom part of the stem should be thicker. So I'm going to add a few more brushstrokes here. Then I'll finish off the pending by adding one less flow over here and some shadows. Understand.
6. Peony: I'll be using these colors to pin up Union. If you don't have this rose color, you can replace it with any dark pings from your palate. Now will be painting a puny which is half open and half-closed. So here I'm preparing a diluted mix of Sean brilliant. This would be the base color for our puny. Now this is a pinkish yellow colors. So if you don't have this color, you can make your own by adding a bit of pink to some lemon yellow. So we'll start by painting to front petals to form a semicircle. Now making checker ages at the base of these petals and leaving some white space between them. Then we can add some shading by dropping into opera pink at the base and gently spray the ping around. And you do the same for the open panel on the left. Now here I'm just adjusting the shape of this pentose to make the center Bob blue puppet rounder. There are shadows here at the base of this center above. So I'm going to dock in this area with some dark pink. Now this is the center point for our puny. So all our pentose, we point back to the center point. Now I'm going to ask some open petals at the bottom. For this panel here, I'm connected to the left to allow some of the dark pins to bleed in. Now, remember to leave some whitespace too, such as the separation of pentose. Here I'm mixing a bit of lemon yellow region brilliant to create a warmer tone for this side Pacto over here. And I'll connect this to the outer petals which are in the background. Now here I'm making short overlapping strokes and leaving some white space to give the illusion of those tight little pack, those in the center. And our darker the inner petals here, to differentiate them from the outer petals which are in the background. I'll narrow this gap here with a bit of pink and then I'll continue to add more shading while the paint is still wet. Now if at this stage the pin has dried, what you can do is you can apply a thin layer of water over the dry petals and then just continue to add the shading. Now there should be shadows here at the base of this center bow. So I'm gonna darken this area here to add more volume and shape to our puny. Here I'm using a thicker consistency of minder pink mix. Now you can use a clean them brush to soften any hard edges. Now we can always go back into, adjusts the shape of our petals if we are not happy with the overall shape of our puny. So here I'm just extending some of these side plateaus to give my puny Amal rounded look. It's better to do this while the paint is still wet. Otherwise you might get some hot edges. Now allow the puny to dry completely before coming back into add some finishing cultures. For the stem, I'll start from the bottom and I'll align it to the center of the puny. Now here I'm leaving a tiny gap cause I don't want any queens to bleed into the puny. Now for the leaves, I'll mix a bit of permanent yellow deep with olive green. And I'll use this as the base commander. So to create the leafs, I'm just pressing down as I drag my brush and then I'll quickly lift my brush. Now, I'm gonna create some color variation in the leaf. So I'll drop in a darker shade of green. Body pain is still with. This creates contrasts and asked more depth to our painting. And I'll do the same for the rest of the leaves for the cuny, but I'll make some C code using Jungian unbridled growth. Then I'll type in a bit of doubt pink and let it blend in nature. And while the penis duet, I'm going to create a little color bleed with the leaves by touching my brush to the edge of this puny, but so as to pink bleeds into the leaves will get this lovely color transition from pink to green in our leaves. Next, I'll painters human leaves over here. And I'm just repeating the same process from earlier on. Now I'm going to shadows on the stem. But before I do that, I'll just rerender stand with some olive green. To get this darker shade of green. I mix a bit of filer with very good. Now that our puny is dry, I'm gonna glaze the outer pentose with a bit of lemon yellow and our dark when the inner pad those a bit more. Now I'll let this dry again before I add the statements. For the statements, I'm adding a BIM lemon yellow to my dark pink. And I'll use this to draw some shot thin lines in the center. Then to finish off the painting are just narrow. This gap here with a bit of John Brennan.
