About This Class

This class is suitable for the adventurous watercolor beginner.

In this class I will show you how to paint a starry night sky and a forest silhouette with watercolors. My process demonstration will allow you to follow along and create some cute bookmarks at the same time.

Even though the scene we will paint might look complex, I trust it's broken down into easy to follow steps, that a watercolor beginner is able to paint the starry night sky as well as the forest silhouette.

By the end of this class you'll know how to paint a night sky with stars and how to add a simplified forest silhouette. In addition you will have some gifts to give to your friends :)

Don’t forget to follow me on Skillshare. Click the “follow” button and you’ll know when I launch a new class. Feel free to follow me on Instagram or facebook as well :) That's where I post my work the most.

Have fun painting!
Jana

Hi, I’m Jana.
I’m a self-taught artist working mostly with watercolors. I loved painting since I was a little girl - it just stuck with me. During my teens and early twenties I painted a lot. Then my husband and I moved from Europe to the U.S.A. and a little later our family started to grow, so the priorities shifted.
In 2012, when we moved to Sweden temporarily, I started painting again almost daily as well as practicing calligraphy and hand lettering. Since then I have filled pages on pages of watercolor paper and I’m not tired of doing so. There’s always something that needs to be painted! :)

In the past I have taught quite a few watercolor and lettering workshops in person. I enjoy connecting with my students and love to see their progress. I... See full profile

1. Introduction: everyone I'm young, and today I'd like to show you how to paint a starry night with watercolors and a very simplified, forested it. And I don't think people classically who my instagram account because I painted such scenes but often and always went opposed to them. I found the question. How do you paint those? Quite a Not so I decided. Why not make it castle? I've heard this class for the beginner as Wallas, an idiot level for the beginners. I included a few exercises, some basic watercolor techniques like that. What's technique, for instance, which we will use for the background and some practice. Stroh's for the Senate will painting some apple green trees, very simplified, and with that, you should be able to paint the final picture in this last. Even if you have never made it with a lot of couples before. So you will have fun following at home, and I hope it's not too hard and try to forget down in easy steps. Yeah, in the end, I hope you will have fun. It's you will have a picture. You're grown up. And if you do, which I hope then please share your results and anti paintings here on censure in the projects on also on TV media. Just have me. Yeah, Just thank you so I can see them. I would be great. And everybody else wants this year. Wonderful people. Still, of course we'll see you less. 2. Watercolor supplies for this class: All right, let's talk supplies for this class. Of course, we will need watercolor paper. There are many types out there, you know, just the generic pad off watercolor paper will do for this class. I have you, for instance, the cancel watercolor paper. It's a cold press, which means that surfaces a little bit rough. I like this kind of paper, but they're also hot pressed watercolor papers, which are more smooth. But next to see if you do not have any erotica color paper at home, try to get some cold. Press porter color paper at 140 pound. That's the weight so called great off the paper. These pets come in all different sizes I have here. This is a nine by 12 inches as well as is this one of Adriano. That's a very smooth one, but same size on the archers, which is a more expensive paper, a nice work surface so you don't have to buy it arches, which is more expensive, as I said, or a proper Yanal, also more on the expensive side, but continous pretty nice. Also, I like stress more papers, and for this class I will actually use this type of pad, or the size of the sheets, are a 5.5 by eight 0.5 inches, which is basically half she'd off letter size paper. So if you cannot get a get your hands on something like this, you might as well take a bigger sheet and just slice it in half or cut it in half. And that will do. I will explain later why I don't want to want you to use a full sheet off nine by 12 for this kind of class. If you think so. This is true big of an area for you to cover their also small pets, like postcard size prints out there. Richest nice a few, or want to use your pictures to send to friends as a postcard, and then also, since we will do some exercises before we start actually painting the picture, you might find this rather nifty. It's what's called Visual Journal, and it has watercolor paper and is bring bound, and you can keep this as your journal. Basically, I don't have much in here except some colors, torches and some of just experimental stuff, so you can also use this for your exercises. Just use whatever you will feel comfortable with. Size wise. Yeah, that's about the paper. I will also have a list off my favorite papers and in the class material. So look out for that. Uh, she should be doing all right. Next is watercolors. Of course me. We need water colors. I have these pallets that I use most of the time. As you can see, they look quite messy, but that's just how I work. And I don't mind that some artists like clean pellets. So they came out this area where the mixed colors. I rather keep it that way because I think the pains are just too precious to wash away. But that's the preference Each artist tests their own. So, as you can see here, I have pans that are either, you know, so small pens that I just said in there I filled them and put them in here. These bigger areas, I just felt directly from the to and for discuss you can use either watercolors or pen watercolors. Doesn't matter to me either. Raise fine. I prefer working from a pen that I pre moisten with a drop of water before I start painting . Yeah, you can do that. Or if you have a set already, just use that You don't want to buy expensive pains to to use in this class. I will have a list off the colors I will use for this class. But just in general, we will use a darker gray. I have pains worry which a love has usually bluish tint to it. I love that for picking skies for dark stars. Some kind of blue I either French ultramarine or indigo was nice as well. And then maybe if you have a turquoise I love this type off turquoise from shrinker. It's called Helio turquoise. This would work or any kind off greenish color you have green is shade will work fine on if you don't have a green or don't want to use when you can also use yellow for the lower part of all painting. We just recently moved and so I haven't found all my tubes it except the blue and green shades. So otherwise how would have shown you my yellows and oranges? Anyway, I will list the prince I will using and painting this picture in the material so you can look this up. Okay. All right. What else do we need? Of course. Since you want to paint a story night, we need some white for the stars. Easy three would be the General Pen, which this one is from secure. And I like these in general. But for the painting, I prefer white ink. Um, I have this one. It's a bleep proof white from Doctor Ph Martin's. I love this one. It's very opaque. Yeah, it just works very well for this type of painting. And this one brings us to what kind of precious to use. I just start from the from the back soc for applying this white ink. I like to use either a depend pointed pen or a very tiny brush. The brush here, that's a double zero. As I said before, I will list the materials that I use and you can look this up. So if you don't remember what I said here, it doesn't matter. You can look it up. Otherwise, for the rest of the painting for the big cloned and this guy in general, I use a round brush. It's called a round brush as a nice tip stood can be a bigger size. I will use a size 12 and for the forest or the evergreen selects, I use a smaller brush, usually on either. This is my favorite size could. It's very versatile. Is size six. It's also around tip. It's more afraid here back if it's what you will see, it has a nice tip to to. So these are the three sizes you will need, like a bigger size, like 12 10 12 or 14 and then around in size. Sorry, a size six and then a very tiny one for the details, meaning to stores or if you don't want to use a brush with that. And I think you can also use a Joe open. No see better here. Okay, then. Of course, since we work with watercolors, we need border. So have a jar with water ready. Some artists prefer to have two doors. Anyone for the cane Warner and 14 dirty water. I usually just use one. And if it gets too dirty, I just changed the water and you would need some kind of paper, towel or rag to wipe your brushes option. And for the class project. You will need a ruler to measure your bookmarks later. And to mark where? The light school with a pencil. So this is Yeah, for the very end and for the class projects. All right, Now you don't need a ruler and pencil. Okay? I think we have all the materials that we need Next is to start practicing some article the tickets. 3. Watercolor practice 1: Wet on wet technique: Okay. So for everyone who has never painted with watercolors, I wanted to show you from the red on red technique because that's what we will need and use for filling the background for painting. So before I start painting anything, I usually go into my palate and pre but the pinks. I usually use just this little reservoir of water from a water brush. But you can also take a little Mr to wreck your pains because then it's easier to pick up the pigment. So I just dropped order. In an age of the pains I know I will use. And then maybe in some or two. So I will use the, you know, some green I have here the indigo, the Paynes Grey. That's what I use for sure, but a nice guy. I have a Blue Ridge in this case is off the French Ultra Marine. And yeah, that's one thing I learned over the years. It makes it much, much easier to pick up the paint This may. Okay, I I suggest that you just take a piece of practice paper, as I mentioned before. Just use some generic watercolor paper, maybe £140 and can can be cool press or hot press Doesn't matter. I decided to use this one since I already have some experiments and color swatches in here . So I already did some. And this is basically what you will end up with after this exercise. We just used three or maybe just two colors and I will show you how to achieve this that one color blends into the other. So this is what you will have in the end after this exercise. I should have said that to at the beginning. If you have painted with watercolors and know about this technique, you might as well skip this section and go ahead and go to the next video. All right, let's take a fresh page and just get your brush birth on the border. And then for this one, just block in the area like your rectangular area or just any shape you like. I usually do some sort of rectangle. Just go with clear water or if it your order is already a little bit dirty. That doesn't every year. Just get a direct. You can even see it here and there. You see you where the water runs, and that's where we gonna paint. It really helps of the paper is Brett that the pain spreads more easy and that's what we want. Okay, so I started here. Just what exercise? I take the pains great and repel it, little bit swishing around so that the brush is loaded with the paint. And then you just start heading. Would you have when you brush on the red area on? That's what it should look like. It always depends on the paint itself and also in the paper. How does painful spread? But that's what this exercise is also for. You can just leave. It is now just to see what the pain does, so you have a better feel for it. But what I will do is I will go to my next point. I'll take some Luke any kind of group, minus the ultra Marine, and then I go right. You there the color that I used before bleeds into. I just had some pain there, and then you see how the spreads. So this pain has a different behavior, you could say, and then you see already also dated blends nicely with the first color we used, and that's what we want and any CEO nicely. This goes into the border, and this is nice as is, I think, but you can leave it as is. But what we want for our painting is heading on the lower area where we but did write the paper. If you can see it all, you have to hold it against the light and you still can't see it. And that's Marie, the lightest color for painting. In this case, I usedto yellow mixed with a little bit of green. Ah, that's what it does know. It spreads towards the water, not to the bet area. And that's what we want to be an hour painting we want in the lower Third. We want the painting rather light so we can see the select later. This area is for me, for my taste to light, so I will add a little bit off my favorite turquoise, which I will use what a final painting, too. And I just at this in the lightest area here, just like this, and it doesn't have to be street lying or anything you do is just can dab it into this area and then I think too much yellow. So I just paint over the, you know, a little bit he will see. Once this particular painting is dried, it will be your other night. So just assured a difference. I will add a little more off the pains. Great, right on top, just on top in the upper part. How different it will look once it's dry because water Connor always dries much lighter. Then it looks minutes Brett. So make sure for your dark area and a friend of painting that it's dark enough. But this one is just exercise so you can experiment with any kind of color and any kind of shade. So weaken. May we do another one, and you can also use different color combinations. I painted these story nights guys also with purplish colors, so I would start out with, uh, what rectangle again, directing your sheep and I would start again with my Payne's gray. It is on top, man. Enjoy. Enjoy watching how it's prints. I really enjoy this process. So like this and as image and you can use some purple, for instance. They used purpose and pinks once and this came out really nice to even though I'm the perceive purplish person or pink person. I rather am a blue person and some pink maybe here and just some light pink down at the bottom. But it's more or were even. But that's right and maybe some more Jewish talking here. So we're gonna get a nice of purple. Maybe when you see how this pushes the pink just don't like this and let's just leave it and let's see how the stories. So this is just in an exercise that you can practice as much as you like, until you feel comfortable that you get a nice flu transition from one color into the other . This is what we want. Basically, you know that you don't have straight lines or anything across the background that it's just a smooth transition between the colors. And then once this is dry, we will practice painting the Sylhet 4. Watercolor practice 2: Simplified Forest Silhouette: So for the Sylhet I use as mentioned before smaller brushes, I have here a number two and a double zero, which I think it's too small to double zero. But if you have a number one, for instance, that would be fine, too. And make sure it's a pointed tip on your brush. This one could be bit point here, but it will work if you have afraid. Tip. Discipline Network Let's see how we will do with this one. As also mentioned before, we will use a darker color off course. Participate it. I will use pains. Great. But if you like to use a black or a dark grown a dark green, everything is fine. It's just whatever you prefer. I just love using pains. Great, because it's a completely black. But it's yeah, nice and bluish, and it fits to the blue tones. I love trees, so we just go in and at the paint to the bush. And then the first thing I do for the salutes is just a cover. The bottom of my painting with a let's say outline or not outlined but like this is the ground basically where the trees are growing from, Let's say that we yeah, that's more Linskey. Then Skip talk here so it can be. But it is a hilly, and if it's not dark enough to make a little darker, that will be fine. You can go over it later as well. If it dries to light, that's fine. So I covered that, and this is just a practice. Peace, right? So if there's something happening, you don't want to happen in your final picture, that's fine. That's what we're why we're doing the exercise. Okay, so then, once I have this grown covered, then I add the tree trunks. So I basically just pages Quinn and do this. I just add different. Size is off lines, upward lines. You can leave him, or you can paint them as straight as you want or also like crooked ones, because there are trees that are not growing really straight up right, so feel free to experiment there as well. I usually just go in and use those straight lines, but as I said, you can experiment there and do whatever you like. Then I usually turn my paper a little bit because it's just my hand feels more comfortable than adding the other strokes. But you don't have to do that. You can experiment and find out which way works best. And I started the top nut at the very top off the tip. But go a little bit further down because the trees usually have a tip. And since this is rather small, it would be very difficult to sculpt this very treetop. So I just grin and like little left and right brush strokes. So you basically at Lyons perpendicular, more or less to the tree trunk. And this is just, uh, abstract way to to pain trees. So what? How I paint them evergreen trees. So Troy, like this one is rather well, I don't like how this came out, but this happens. That's my retrying and figuring out how the brush works and how much how many lines you will paint to make your trees look like the way you want him to look. So this one was like too little in my opinions, so maybe a little bit normal. You could do that this month, and since this is also small, I might try my really small brush getting the paint here and let's see how that goes. I was a bit too wet. Happens to, uh of the race that works good. Just some lines along the tree trunk, left right, Maybe some gaps in between. And as you go further along, you will. You will see and feel. Could you hopefully get more comfortable doing these strokes and then your trees? Hopefully you will look like trees. Somebody has one missing here, and then maybe one more thing. It's not necessary to feel like the whole area. You can leave some gaps because there's enough forests. They're not think that tens all the time, So there are some neither areas. And if you view like this, one looks like a little bit too to even. I think you can even add like reading tall tree in there. Maybe another one here, and you can do that while the other trees are still wet. But you can also wait until they are dry and see in your exercise pieces. You can just see how how you like you re like reading until it's dry or reading it world. The area is still but all right for this piece, I would just say, I'll leave it at that. Maybe this one needs to be with darker, sir. Um, that would be my practice peace. And just so we know how this whole cell, it would look on a different color combination. That's just paint another one over this publish groaned. So again, with my smaller brush, I just had some ground for worst groaned and the final picture. I will cover this completely, I think. But in this practice piece, that's fine. Just to edit loosely and an iPhone that the number to brush. Waas here it is sorry that it was just too big for this small square or a rectangle. So I used my zero instead to two trees. Again. I'm gonna go with Payne's gray, but just for the demonstration purposes, that's add some purple to it on again. I just some tree trunks, tolerance, small ones, a group of trees make it a bit, you know, spaced. And then at some groups. And I would always start out like this not, you know, like not every eighth of an inch align, but just spread it out a little bit so that it feels natural. And if you can't decide what's natural to you or not. Just look at some pictures online to go forest or for a steal it. If you go that you will get photographs and then you can get inspiration from that as well and meat. Also one thing. Oops, that's a paint on here. Um, I usually work from left to right because the paint with my right hand. So I avoid that I go over to the left side and maybe smooshed the paint. That's maybe one thing you might think about and take into consideration. So then it's some lines, just some small ones in just, um, it's almost like his exact motion I use almost because it's not really zigzagging, but straight a Have your hand lose than just started top and just go left and right. Well, that wasn't good wine, but why not? Next one, Just the top. Maybe not as worried and just spread out a little bit and end territories that have lost some names to so you can leave some caps sort of looks more natural, and you can practice that as many times as you want, and once you feel comfortable, you can just go ahead on and start the next video where we're paying the whole scene and no final picture. Well, you know where I will lead through more trees here, and then I'm done with this exercise. So you go last tree on. That's it for me. No, I see One more. It was hiding here. There we go. I think that's that as exercise. So yeah, Go ahead. Have fun and experiment with different color combinations like this purple electors to actually and the bluish and ter Chris version. All right, keep practicing and then come back to the next video. 5. Main Painting 1: Night Sky background: I take my number 12 Want to brush, and right now it's just loaded with border. I just Morriston. Or what's the paper over The whole sheet on this could be done quicker. If you would take a clean sponge on, dip it in water, then this. Just swipe it or wipe it over the page. But I just like to use the brush. It's just part of my process, and it's that gets me in the mood to prepare for this painting so it doesn't matter if it's , you know, there are a few dry spots, but you usually can see this pretty well if you hold it against the night for just look from a different angle. You see where you have missed maybe something, and it's very, very well possible that some areas dry before we get to them. So that happens. You just what's your brush and go back in with some water? So my page, you know, you can see you probably. What do you Well, what's There were some spots, so and then we're good for some paintings. Who would have to wait until the order is soaked into the paper a little more but for this one, weakens just started right away. And but the spending I start with the pains. Great. We're just, in this case, the darkest color and perceptible that here a little bit. I take this, my pan. I just dip my brush into it. And then I just go ahead in the pellet to to work the pigment into the brush. Very little more water so that it's loaded with paint on. Let's see what happens. It's a little bit. That's what I mentioned before. If you don't want this to happen, you just take this down with some painter's tape. But I just usually don't mind that. And in this case, also, I do not want to have a white border. So I try to just work with it and, well, if you get some paint on your fingers and done murdering, right, so here we go. Just spread the paint over the upper part. It was remember, it's a night sky, so it can be a really dark on. You can add some no to it. You will get a nice variety this way, and always remember, the paint usually drives lighter. Then it looks like when it's better. So make sure it's in the upper part of the East pretty dark, because that's much nicer. Pick later with the stars, and that's just how you add it. Very usually like to add some more blue in the lower parts when you approach the middle section of the paper to start, lighten up a little bit and to suggest that it was just before dusk. So it's not completely dark yet. And since the paper is nice and wrecked, well, good, um, a nice spread off paint, very soft lines or no lines at all Nations E. And then I go in with my trick, Royce. My idea trippers memory favorite to replace of all so Far East and I finish up with some greenish tools, which most of them you will not see nor park. I still like to cover everything, So just in case I decide I want to do something different, then I have everything covered with paint. E o green, a little more to Christ, just a depth areas, and he can't be a nice variation doesn't have to be even spread. You know, there's a bit color variety and there that's I think the beauty off the water comedy it's possible to spread and you will see these, um here is here. They will spread. I was nice. Spread out nicely and it wouldn't matter leader that it's maybe looking a little bit off. See? And I see here meanwhile, that there's some kind of light area which I'd like to dark in a little bit on. You can go in still still wet and it will spread out and be a bit darker and ready for some stores. And here we go. That was quick and easy. That's it. So there you have the deaths. I guess going to be a nice scarry in preparation for are forced to it. Now we have to be patient and let it dry. It has to be really dry. Make sure it's dry. I cannot say that enough before we start painting to seal it. Okay, 6. Main Painting 2: Forest Silhouette: okay, lets at the Sylhet. Remember, Just as in the practice part, just prepare you paint that you want to use for the sell it at a drop of water or misted with some water so it can soak and you haven't easier to pick up some pigment with your brush. And then also just as in a practice, peace just ahead some forest terrain or some Yeah, for his groaned on the nor part with you, the darkest color you want to use. So I again I'm using the pains. Great. And I just go and loosely on just suggests, um to ring. Can I do this over the whole with off the page? Because for later I will use this for my project. Cheat there as you have heard or read, it's gonna be bookmarks and I want each bookmark to have a piece off this forest or some trees in there. So just added loosely If it's not covering all the areas with the rial dark color yet, that's okay to know I have some problems. He with my tripod, it's in the great, So okay, just when you wet the areas go back in, there is some more dark color, and then it will spread so that it's that it's dark in all areas and it doesn't have to be black. Okay, so it's rarely happens that something is truly black in nature. Snow that's coming fine. Oh, and I forgot to say this. I'm using their number six sides brush for this for the next part, adding the tree trunks. I will use my smaller brush, but you can do as ever you like and whatever brush feels the most comfortable for you. Okay, that's good. Now I'm taking my smaller brush and at the tree trunks. And remember, don't over think that just go in and add some tree trunks here and there. I usually wait until this area's dry here, but since we want to move forward and we're just going to do with this way in here, I have a group of three here, and I was about to do the same here, but then I would look to to a similar, I think, went when I had a really big one here and see more lines on that street at all. There's quickly, and that's fine and just keep adding them until you reach the end of the paper. Just keep adding Don't don't over think ok? So more over here Looks awfully seem right. Well, we can change that while we go along later. Good. That's my tree trunks now armed to adding the actual tree shapes here. I see my paint is a little bit to what? My taste. So I leave that on, Just start the next tree and I rather move along, Mama Tip, go down and then start Not right at the tip with adding the exact motion. But I go down a little bit and then just start there this way. I don't know. I just prefer the tree shapes over or versus if I would start right at the beginning at the tip. Just do whatever tree shape you prefer and what you might find in your area. This is I think this is also to do with what we like and what you prefer. What we see around us most often, it just I think this is just, uh yeah gets into into your system. And then you painted the way you see it out in nature on keep those exact motions lose on. Lift your left your brush once in a while from the paper, so you get these gaps like here or here. It looks more natural that way, but it also it needs some practice because in the beginning, if you concentrate on doing those lines, you might think about lifting your brush. So just keep on practicing. It's doesn't have to be perfect. In a sense, it's always perfect because once you try, you have tried and you have learned something. So, for that matter, it's perfect. You don't something, and I'm pretty sure whoever will get a bookmark later from you, so they will appreciate it no matter what. Well, I hope so. Great. Just keep adding until you reach your last tree or every other tree. As you see here. I leave those until everything is dried because what might happen if I go in too early, It just might bleed into each other, and I do want some definite lines in there. If the tree trunks are close to each other, just pick one tree that you finish first and then move on to the next. That it's not touching will continue doing that until I arranged in. So that's how it looks here. The next step would be after everything is a little bit dry. Go in and at the trees, actually shape of the trees and limbs to the ones you haven't finished yet Like this one. This one, this one, your two more. And if you feel there's ah yeah, the gap in between the groups is too big. You just at more tree trunks and go ahead and fill your forest line from left to right or the other Iran. And once you have the feel, something is too wet. Still, just let it dry and come back to this area later. I will just do that now, finishing this one off Getting Moreland's here Here's another one and I found this group itself looks like a tree. So I will definitely come back to this one later. And I wanted to add something here because that looks yeah to empty spot me. You can add dimension to this forced scene with depending on how opaque or translucent your painters. If you add more water to your pain there it's lighter. Of course. Right. Then you get shades like this. So you can still see the other tree trunks. I will take care of this because that's something I do not like in this case, but it's not finished, so I knew able take care of it. But also a lighter color would suggest that the trees are in the distance. And if you wanted to achieve this suspect for your forest scene, you would just start with a watered down paint. Just demonstrated a quick here it's Mother Light and then you add this tree shaped their E , let it dry and once try, I will show you how I add dimension. It's just simple. You just add another tree in front or overlapping used the more saturated color for more saturated paint. That's all that's to it. So reading this one, I think we need one more here. Small, big. But I think it's more one Korea, and you definitely can go into the, you know in the foreground here because it's not completely dark. You could even get something like this to just so just that there is some hills or some some groups of other registration growing, you know, just petting some grasses here and there. It will be not very obvious to see in the beginning, but if somebody's looking closer, I don't see those details, and that's nice, too. But you don't have to do that. That was just what's popping in my head right now. Otherwise, you just keep it very dark and then you don't need any more details soon, and you just keep working your way to the other side until you are happy with your result with the forest scene and I will just keep working and I will show you how does well look when mine is done? Next part will be adding the stars. But before we do that, let's come back here one more time. I remember this one in the very light shed. It's definitely standing in the back now that we are heading this dark one here because Darko means more in the foreground to the viewers, I that's just how we do it. You keep working and feel free also to post your results, or you're in between results in the class projects. That would be nice to see. Two. Were you all doing with that? Also, feel free to ask any question. If you have have you have them and otherwise just have fun painting. I will continue here and show you the painting when I'm done. Okay, I think. Ah, consider mine done. At least the forest. Andi. Now we just need to let a dry and export really will be adding the stores and this guy. Let's at the source in the next video. 7. Painting the stars - finally! :): At this point, we are ready to at the stores tour painting as mentioned before, I will use the white ink and my double zero brush and just avoid over thinking What I usually do is I add very quickly and randomly the biggest stars to the painting It is start somewhere on the left top area, and either just I make small dots or just dip on the page and leave without that. And without thinking, I try at least not to think too much where to place it. Because then it just in the end, fuels more natural that the stores are not, you know, like do matter clean. You pleased? Um, yeah, Just just go ahead and have fun placing white dots on the paper. Let's just think about white dots and spread them all over the place or not all over the place. But mostly, of course, in the darker part the upper part of the painting meaning in the sky. And when I have enough off the bigger ones, when I think I have enough, I might just look at it and decide I want a few more Don't here. They're just at them Wherever you feel or think like a rather big store is needed where you want one. They can go as Noah's, this area and sometimes I use on the bleeding areas off the color as guidelines. You know, you see here that this Payne's gray made like a spur curve here and sometimes I just performed. I just followed his lying to kind of on. That gives an interesting effect because later I will fill in mother small stars here too. And, well, it gives the impression off a yeah, galaxy like feeling. And once I'm done with this with the biggest stars, I usually change the brush or switch out the brush for my depend on. And I will show that to you in a minute. Uh, so I think I should be it. And then you can let this dry. And sometimes when I I have washed my brush and back into the England, this particular Inc I use here, sometimes it comes out to thin like here, Here, here. Then that's no big deal. You just go back and get more ink and go over them again. And then they're really white. Try to have to really white or even if you are, if you like a glittery effect, you could even go in with some glitter pen or Glittery Inc. That's a nice a pick to, but for this we just stick with the white. So if you use a dip pen like I have here, you know if you have done this before, but I usually get a brush, get some ink on the brush, and then I transfer the ink from the brush to the depend this pain. If you use a depend, you can make really, really fine ducts, and this gives a nice pick. But if you are not, you know that patient. Or if you if you think those stars are too little, then don't feel pressured to anything to use a depend. You can even use um, finer or a smaller sized brush. Then a double zero and double definitely worked, too. So I just keep on adding dots on. I will just go back to my brush just also to show you that you can, with a little less pressure. Then we did in the first round off stores reading Uh, did You can also achieve brother small dots as well with the brush. And then this way. The size off the stores is a little bit even in displayed. The size of the stars has some variation to it, too, because depending on how much pressure you use, they have different sizes. All right, we'll keep doing this until I'm happy with the amount of stars. And as I already said in the beginning, just think of it as a practice peace. And then you'll feel much less pressure. I think, at least, and if you think of it as a practice, peace and just see how the pain behaves, how the colors are playing well, together or not, and just depending those stars just randomly and this way you don't think too much and don't over think what you're doing and that maybe a mistake happens. Which of course doesn't happen, puts forward just happy accidents, and we are just learning from them. It's just practice, practice, practice and have fun with it. That is also a big thing to remember. Don't take it too seriously. Just fun with it, and if you do, then it's a very relaxing exercise. At least that's what it is really to me sometimes in the evenings when I do, I don't want to do anything else than adding some stars to a dark radical. A background is always relaxing. Roast makes me happy. So let's all just keep adding stores and let's show each other what our pictures looked like. Once we don would be great if you post yours in the class gallery. That would be really nice to see so we all can have a look at your creations. But really nice. I will show you how this one turns out. I bet you have read through the project description. If you feel like it just makes them bookmarks out of this painting or if you'd like it so much, of course you don't have to cut it up, but just paint another one, and maybe you will use this one as before works. And I'm pretty sure people who will receive them. They will be very happy to have a handmade story night bookmark, enhance offense. Thanks so much for joining this class. I hope you had fun and that you learn something. And if I ever do post another class, I hope I will see you again. I would just finish off here and let you go. Finish your painting too. And I was you in the class projects on Instagram or Facebook? Just tell me if you post something on Instagram or Facebook. That would be neat to to seo creations there as well. I have all my contact information in the about section in the class section as well. All right, Thanks, everybody. See you next time.
