1. Intro: Hi, I'm Shannon Gilman or involvement in my home studio. For the next 30 days, we're gonna be getting in the habit of painting every day. It's a lot easier than you think, and there aren't many supplies they'll need. So if you're with me and with this class, you could download supply list class instructions, and you can also download and easy how to about watercolors and wash the materials all be using for this class. Feel free to use whatever kind of paint you like the best. And if you've never painted before, this is a great way to experiment. Paintings won't take very long anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes, depending on the week, and they'll be pretty small, so we'll be able to squeeze them into busy schedule. If you'd like to purchase your supplies, you can through the link below, And once they come where you gather them up, we can go ahead and get started. You can sign up to get an email reminder every day. If you like. Getting a daily email will make it so much easier to remember to paint every day. Also, if you miss a date, don't worry about it. Painting time is so short that you could do more than one every day. If you need Teoh to catch up and if you miss, it's not a problem, You just start again. 2. Getting Started: some of the supplies you'll need for this class is some watercolor paper, either hot press or cold press. Hot press is gonna be smoother, and cold press will have a little bit more texture to it. Either one is fine. You can also use a travel watercolor sketch book of you like If you find yourself painting often, you'll want to pick up a desk easel. It'll save you from staring straight down at the tables. Hop. It will be easier on your neck. I'll be using a number two pencil, this white plastic eraser fight pen tell and I also really enjoy these three types of brushes. One is a small room tip. The other is a round, flat brush, and the last one is a small Finn detail brush. All of these brushes are relatively inexpensive and could be found in any crap store for this class. I'll be using Windsor in New and Designer Wash. It works a lot like water color, but you can also be very opaque and Matt and is great for scanning. This is a higher end product, so if you'd like to use a more basic watercolor set like this one that's a great way to begin as well. You also need to small glasses of water, one for clean and one to rinse out the dirty paintbrush. Also, a small plastic travel cases my favorite tools to take when I'm doing watercolor painting on the go, this one closes and has a rubber gasket around it so the paint won't leak. This is a totally optional thing, but this is what you'll see in the videos. You'll also want to be sure that you have all of your supplies ready to go. I like to keep mine in a bag near my desk. There's also, if you're just getting started and aren't sure painting is your thing. Go ahead and purchase some inexpensive brushes and a cheap watercolor set just to get started. 3. Week 1: e o. We're gonna get started with our sheep That's already laid out labeled it. And it's got seven boxes, one for every day this week. I'm just gonna be using one color every day to keep it simple and to not take too much time . So you're gonna set your timer for two minutes and we'll get started today. I'm gonna paint with blue and I'm using quash. But feel free to use whatever paint you like. If you want a basic tutorial on paint, you can download the free printable that'll explain the difference between watercolor and quash. So for week, one day one, I'm just gonna do really basic shapes and patterns without any particular object in mind. The reason you're working in two minute intervals is that it's not a lot of time. It's not too much to commit. And we're keeping the pattern symbol because the goal this week is just to get in the habit of doing this every single day. So seven days for two minutes total 14 minutes. You could do this just really basic stripes and dots. Yeah, and I'm watching my timer. We don't have much time left, so I'm gonna speed up. It doesn't really matter exactly how good the painting is this week. It's just seven paintings, seven days for two minutes. That's cool, and I'm done. 4. Week 2: Welcome to week to this week. We're gonna be doing seven paintings for five minutes each. Keep your color palette really small. So just use about three colors and you can paint anything off the top of your head. Or if you want, you can use an object. I'm gonna be using an object today, and I just grabbed this tomato pincushion off of my sewing table. It's a simple object, and it also is only two colors followed. Make it easy. So I'm using quash again today. Like this little spray bottle just keeps it easy. And I could talk it with me when I travel. If you want to, you can draw your object out with pencil first. Because the object I chose today is really simple. I'm not gonna do that. I'm just gonna hand it. Okay, here we go in about five minutes. So my object is tomato shape. If you decide to choose an object, make sure that it's a simple object. Don't pick something that has a lot of angles for detail. If it does have angles in detail, try and simplify it as much as you can join. His paintings don't have to be realistic. Too much mortar going on here. This also has a little strawberry. I am painting in reverse, mostly because I didn't leave myself in a room. Just not a big deal. So after doing the two minute paintings last week, you're gonna find that five minutes seems really long. But that's okay. You just take a little bit more time and make sure that those shapes are tee chills that you want to have. I always have to Jurors of water use one to rinse all the major paint out. And then I used the 2nd 1 to pick up clean water and paper sells to dab it off and also with the round brushes. I like that. I can have really thin point tips. And if you press really hurt, you're gonna get a thick or stroke. If you already done with your painting, you need to slow down. Everything's going to have a little bit more detail today because you have a longer time. So that blood a little bit my bottom layers not drink yet because my object was really simple and straightforward. I'm gonna let it dry a little bit, do some shadows underneath Well, that dries. And I could go back and clean up the green right there. So get my grade running a shadow on any something grounds it. So it looks like it's actually on a service versus If you were to just shadow with Red and I out of time, that's five minutes. So for the rest of week, you're going to do the same thing. You're gonna set your timer for five minutes and continue to pain seven more meetings. 5. Week 3: Welcome back to week three. This week, we're gonna be doing seven paintings that air eight minutes long so the boxes have gotten bigger. You should have two sheets of paper locked out, just divided up into quarters. That'll give us seven. I'm gonna move the second sheet all the way. Set my timer for eight minutes this week. You can paint whatever you like. You can use as many colors as you like. You just want to make sure you're spending all eight minutes painting. So it's a test from your stamina again. Eight minutes really isn't very long. So the painting this because definitely gonna have more detail. And so I've got my paint palette ready to go. I've got my brushes because I'm gonna be doing a little bit longer painting. I'm gonna be using a round brush, a small brush, and this bigger brushes. Well, these are all really inexpensive brushes, but a bigger brush is definitely gonna cover sport territory 6. Week 4: Hi. Welcome back to weak. For this week. We're gonna be doing 15 minute paintings every day. So go ahead and set your timer getting materials prepped, and let's get meeting the paintings this week, We're going to seem a lot longer. In 15 minutes, you're gonna be able to put in much more detail, and you might want to pick a theme for the whole week. I was thinking about food and desserts and said, That's what all of my paintings turned into. Having a theme for the week will make it a lot easier to know what you should paint. If you'd like to start by drawing out your sketches in advance, you can just use a light hand with the pencil. I've been doing time lapse just so you can see how the whole week came together. 7. Tips & Tricks: e just share some tips of things that I do to help me paint. Every single day I take my travel watercolor set with me. I keep a little notebook in my bag, some of those handy watercolor brushes that have water in the handle. I fill it up with water bottle. I use a lid to mix my paint in or Teoh clean the brush. Super easy, super handy, especially when you're on the go Do it while I'm waiting for my kids at the park after school, on my way Really anywhere. So it's super handy. Keep those things with you and you could be painting every day.
