1. Introduction video: Hi everyone, Welcome to organizing your first kitchen. I am. Those have an Ima soft skills trainer. By profession, I helped my clients to build the confidence and improve their communication skills. However, there's one more thing that you should be knowing about me is I love organizing and that is the whole idea behind mine this course. Now, when I started setting up my pitching a couple of years back, it was very random. I borrowed a few things from my mom's kitchen. We used our wedding gifts and I randomly bought stuff that I liked. However, when we move cities and we moved homes, I realized how unequipped I was. And I wanted to tweak and make a lot of changes in my kitchen. But by then, I had already put in a lot of resources. I wish somebody had told me to buy certain things and not to buy certain things. So your I am with a list of resources plus some valuable information that will definitely help you through to set up and organize your very first kitchen. Now this can also be for somebody who has already set up the kitchen and don't know how to declutter or rearrange. This can be a very good evaluation. So in today's times that we are flooded with a lot of information, lot of products, it becomes very difficult for one to actually decide what products will be valuable to them. 2. Identify your needs: Hello and welcome to setting up your first kitchen. As overwhelming as it may sound, you do not need to worry. It can be an exciting process to set up an organized kitchen with the right number of things. Before we even begin our course. There's one thing that I would like to share. On a daily basis. We are exposed to almost 6,000 to 10,000 advertisements in a day. What that means is that somewhere there is a blur of between our needs and wants. Now our goal with this course is to set up an organized, easy to use, budget friendly kitchen with quality items. So it's very, very essential that before you start, you identify what your needs are. And I will be attaching a sheet with certain questions like, what is the size of your family? How often do you plan to cook? How often do you plan to do your groceries? Do you like coffee or do you like tea to set up the coffee station or T station? These are small things, but they're going to add up and they will reflect in your kitchen about that. 3. Basic items required: Hi. Now that you've identified your needs, let's look at some of the basic things that you would be requiring in your kitchen. Cutting board, knives and scissors, or something that you can not do without. A bamboo cutting board is a healthier option than using plastic ones. I generally keep a separate one for meat and a separate one for fruits and vegetables. Knife you can get maybe two or three. Again, I keep a separate one for meat and a separate one for fruits and vegetables. That's my personal preference. It depends on how you would like to do it. Stainless steel for lambda so that you can use it with hot items as well, a mortar and pestle with rolling pin rolling board. Now, in our Indian kitchens, we like to make something called party, which is our style of bread and a rolling pin and rolling, but we just can't do without a box or find Greta box greta of fine Rita, I prefer like when we're doing the cheese, I would prefer bigger. And if I'm doing the vegetables than I would like to use the fine greater good pair of tongs, measuring cups and spoons. Again in stainless steel, it would be a better option. Goods bachelor, rubber and steam list1 to use for various dishes. And your stainless steel or glass bowls, which can be used for mixing as well as storing. So it will become multipurpose and it uses less space in your kitchen. A good water jar of water dispenser. So you're in India, we use something called an earthen pot. Clipboards, which can store up to five to ten liters of water. We don't drink tap water, we use some, use water from the water purifiers. We store it and keep it and keeps the water cooler. If you cannot get that in your region, just use a normal glass jars, which are a better option than using plastic, cloth, oven gloves, trash can. Now we are separating our wet and dry waste. So depending on what your region follows or what your country follows, bio trash can accordingly, storage jars, of course, to store your ******, then salt, sugar, tea, coffee. I personally use a glass jars which can store up to 500 g of items. And then I refill them as and when needed, glass, Pyrex, baking dishes. So you can, if you're somebody who bakes, you can get these because these will be multipurpose. You can bake as well as in the same dish so you don't need many serving bowls. And generally avoid non-stick ones. Now, when it comes to your pots and pans, you have to identify the dishes that you would be preparing. If you prepare a lot of rice, you prepare soups or anything which is like a gravy. You would use your stock pot for that. You can buy two sizes if there are more members in your family and you prepare different dishes, a good sauce pan. Again, you can use stainless steel in this one, or you can use cast iron as well for both stock part and your saucepan. A good skill it so depending on again, the number on your usage and the number of members in your family, you can get a size which is multipurpose, a grazing plan for your pasta sauces, anything that you want to make, a slow cooker and an instant pot is a good investment. If you're somebody who maybe works from home or short on time, you can just leave your recipe in there and cook with the allotted time in it. But this is something that I have purchased and I don't use it a lot because of the recipes that I prepare. I would say a slow cooker or an instant pot is option. A pressure cooker for me is an essential. So if we prepare a lot of pulses and green, so we would put it in the pressure cooker for cooking. Next comes your equipment. So a hand blender, I would say is an essential if you're somebody who prepares few days to or generally any dishes which require you to prepare a gravy food processor, I would say is optional. I do own a food processor, but it's not something that I use very often. And a microwave oven is, again, your choice. If somebody if you're somebody who loves to bake, then yes, you would get that. I purchased my microwave much later because it's not something that I prefer using and I don't really cook in it. Or even an oven. Stove is something that I use maximum for my cooking. And depending on how much you're going to cook at a time, it if you're going to we are a family of three and my dad visits as office. Often, we would be cooking for four people sometimes. And three burners work well for us. If you're going to be cooking for more number of people than three or four burners on the stove would work very well for you. A good blender which will help you prepare your ginger garlic paste or any other pays yours. You can also put your suits in this, I forgot to mention for the food processor, there is only one part which I use quite often is the shopping part. And that's something which you can get it in the hand blender as well. So it will save, you can save up on the food. So if you get one part in the hand lender, which allows you to talk as well. Air fryer, again is something I would say is optional. I recently purchased it and yes, I do use it but not often. Again, with your choices of coffee machine juicer. Juicer is something that I don't own and I prepare my juices in the blender. I have a jar which can be used. I have like four jars in my blenders and I can make juices in that as well. So I don't need to purchase another equipment which will, of course take up resources and space in the kitchen. If you are somebody who likes Chris dose, then yes, a toaster would be something and essential in your kitchen. And then let's go on to the capillary. Now, capillary again is a personal preference depending on what don't you like. Spoons, forks, knives, goals, clades, the set of these that is completely optional. I love having people over fatigue, so a T-shirt isn't essential for me. In spoons, I highly recommend that you get different sizes. So you can have like soup spoon, you can have spoons which go into your spice jars. So you can keep those which you don't need to put your wet wounds in that. And there's a separate one for each spice jar. You can have serving spoons as well. Folks, again, depending on if you're serving them of your dinner or you're having eight for your desserts. Knife again, your butter knife, you or again, if you're setting up the table, then yes, you would have different sizes of your nice if not, then just get the regular dinner size bowls again. So I generally keep us separate dinner set for guests and irregular category for everyday use, which is easy to handle. Again, when guests are coming, I also note if there are kids coming, then I take out the lighter plates, which are easier for everybody to handle. If I'm setting up the table, then yes, I would take out the fancier heavier plates which everybody can enjoy and easily. And I will be attaching a list of all these items so you can carry it when you're shopping or just keep it handy even if you're shopping online. 4. Estimate your Budget to Set up the kitchen: Now that you've identified your needs, we will get into the finances or the budgeting for your kitchen. Now in the kitchen, we require a lot of items from small to big, and they require considerable amount of finances. So it's always good to set aside a budget for it. You can even keep monthly goals or quarterly goals of buying a set of items that you can split into and it won't be heavy on the bucket. You can also look out for the offer's going on in your local regions or on websites like Amazon, which have great deals on a daily basis. So if you don't have Amazon in your local region, check out the local stores. Also, some of the things that you can do is in the case you've previously owned some pods or your family or friends have owned box bands or utensils that are not being used any longer. You can also get them exchange for new ones. Always invest in good quality products which are toxic free from any substances that can cause harm to your body. First, good-quality products will last you longer. Secondly, absorb the nutrients from the food. So it's very good to cook in these kind of utensils. 5. Organizing the kitchen: Hi everyone. Now that we've got a budget, means identified it all your essentials in place. The biggest question that comes is how to arrange these in your kitchen. Now it's essential that you place your items in a way that creates a flow and easy to access in a way that you can use them every day without any hassle. And that's the whole point about organising your kitchen and rearranging your kitchen. Now, typically it would be wonderful if you can invest in a modular kitchen, which basically means that you arrange oliver cabinets, drawers are in-built and they already had equipped withdraws where you can store your items. Now, I do understand because of budget constraints or because of if you're staying in a rented apartment and it might not be possible for you to do this. So in that case, we will look at other ways that you can organize your kitchen. Now there are a couple of items which would be a spice rack. You can store your everyday ****** which you use on it. Typically, these to prepare meals, e.g. I. Would use salt, pepper, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin, or condiments, cinnamon powder quite often. So I would keep them in a place which is accessible and a spice rack works very well. You can also use a drawer spice rack. So in the case that you don't have countertops space, you can put them in a drawer and you can label all these items. Or you can just keep them in transparent jars, which are easy to access and easy to see. All to your monk and glass holder or a tornado. In the case that you don't have a dishwasher and you wash and keep your utensils. You can put them on these to dry and also to access it. Easy. Your napkin holder to make sure your napkins or in one place. And the sink candy is something which you can store your dishwashing, detergent or your liquid, or any other items related to cleaning in one place. Another tip that you can do is using refrigerators, storages, which are transparent. And you can see the items and you can sort them out as soon as your grocery comes in so they are easy to access when you have to prepare your means. Cabinet tracks are something which work very well if you don't have enough space to create cabinets, but you just have a space in the corner and you can place it in your everyday pots and pans can be placed there, or your plates, bowls and given an oven or a microwave can be placed very easily, you're hanging cabinets can be placed in any of the shelves or behind the door so that you can keep your accessible items are rotating. Tree is another great idea to paste everything in one place and you have all of it sorted out. The cabinet track is also something which works for storage so you can keep different items and arrange them according to the sizes. A rotating trolley, again, if you don't have much space, but you want to store all your items in one place, then this works great. A plate organiser to keep your plates for everyday use. Next comes your capillary. So if you have a drawed big enough to store all of the spoons and leaders together, then get a good big tree. And if you have a smaller space, then you can maybe put in the smallest size trees. And you can put everything in one place. Now if you don't have drawers or space where you can store them inside, you can also on the kitchen counter or on your dining table, you can easily place holder. You can store all your cutlery which is in one place and easy to access. Now, banks are one thing which create a lot of clutter and you don't get them just in time when you need them. So a bag dispenser, again can be placed in one place and it becomes very easy to grab one just as soon as you have to go out of the house or put one in the trash can. Some more ideas that you can use your is your pan organizer. This works very well. So this is something that you can keep in your cabinets. If you don't have drawers. They can even be used as to keep the bigger pot. So it's easy to access. Floating shelves look great if you are arranged very neatly with all your jars or your pantry items, or even any other pleads that you use on a daily basis. And over the dough organizers, also something to keep the extra items just handy. Another tip would be to keep your pantry. I'm containers offers size, or get a set which are of similar sizes and easy to store because it makes them stackable. These all items which I have mentioned just now are easily available on Amazon. Or you can even check them out in your local stores if you don't have Amazon in the region where you are living. And ikea also has these items easily available.
