1. Introduction To Notion Masterclass: Welcome to Scotia. Scotia is basically
where you can learn all sorts of
different skills. And this is a Scotia class
brought to you by magic turn. A teacher who is a medical
student and a YouTuber who teaches you how to
make it lasts more productive using
different skill sets. In this class, I'll be
teaching you about Notion. Notion is basically a one
workspace for every team, whether you individually,
personal or business, or whatever it would
be to suit your needs. So notion has all the
options needed for you. Notion can be used to organize your life
in different ways. This can be for your personal, as medical students, social or different types
or whatever would be. In this session, I'll teach you how to create these toggles, how to use the toggles, how to use the different types of blocks and to
organize your life. Finally, what you have
is suppose something similar to this with
Kanbans in galleries. And eventually when you've
finished the Skillshare class, what I'm hoping for you to end up with something like this. Not exactly terms of this
whole page obviously bar, when it comes to this overall, you have something along with type professional study,
whether your students, where your profession
and you have eventually have inbox where you can type stuff and
let's say finish work. That way you'll be able to do is go to the contact side of it. And basically Clinton and
you'll see this calendar view, complete the video from the and what you'll

2. Setting Up Notion: Hi, and welcome back to
another video and metric tons Skillshare for how to organize
your life and notion. So just want to be telling you how you
can download notion. So if you type in notion
on your Google webpage, what will happen is you'll see this page and this
will be notions. So are you wanting
to, depending on the computer system you use, either use a Windows, Linux, or Mac, depending
on which one you use. So if you go to here, it will be Mac or
Windows, iOS and Android. So if you're on a tablet
to Android or iPad, iOS go to this one. We'll focus on Mac
or Windows for now. So it goes a Mac or Windows. Download, whichever
one you're using. Click on Download,
say some remarks, I'll click on here. It's going to be Apple silicon, intel processors, different one. So if you go here, click on this and
what will happen is you'll end up
downloading this. So take a few seconds
just to download. All we have to do
is just click on Open up, install it afterwards. Then what you do
is the following. So this is the page we'll get to when you actually
download notion. You click onto the first
times where you open up. The ways you can do it is
you can do three options. Have Google accounts
or Apple account, it'll say Microsoft account. If you have a Microsoft account
for Windows, you start, use a general email
to get started, samsung go with Google. So what happens is
when you login, then afterwards you'll
see go come up. Then you'll see once
you've logged in, once you logged in using Google Apps or something
like Microsoft. And then we will
see a D3 options for my team first
use two skulls. So in this video I'll be telling you how
these personal use. So click on Personal, depends on your school team. They'll be paid options. For free option. You can send me
e-mail here 10 min on gmail.com and you use
that personally use here. And tell us what to
experience your life to be. Basically for teaching
purposes of the educator role. It'd be again, freelancer. What you plan to a
notion it could be any. So we'll just type in, let's
say, project management. Company goals personally want to do is project
management here to show how it works, right? Metric tons notion. And this is the page you
will get started off on. And in the next
couple of videos, I'll tell you how you
can use this to make your notion dash a whole lot better and give

3. Using Templates: Hi and welcome back to the other interior in my metric
tons Scotia notions here. And so I'll be going
over how you can use the notion dashboard overall to make your life
more organized. How you can use it to
keep track of your goals. So in this video, I'll be
telling you how you can use the templates siloed. So I taught you
how you can login. So you can click here. This is a free plan
you can see here. Now in this video here, if you click on Templates, this hotel, the
range of templates, what you can do as an
example where you can do, say if you had to do this
speed, the simplest swap, all you will do
here is This is me, my notion that helps you to do your simple task
management create organists truck task,
which is really good. Gavin tszuj to
consign to people. You have a task name and
you also check box as well. You want him to tier. Whenever you do click, click Template, what happens is, okay, I've clicked
here click Template, and it brings a whole
range of tasks. With this task can edit some, you can assign them, you
can do a due date for them. Say two days can be 27th and could be end date as
well, which will 28th. Then from there you
can sign up there. You can change and rename
it to task to task three. In task here, it
will be tasked 11. So all you have to do is
just play around with them. I'll just show you a few more
and then you have all sorts than here if I said to go
for the engineering texts. But if you go here,

and it brings it all up here. So these are all the
types to have in terms of the templates as a very good useful
tool that you want. Quick shortcut, make your
tracker quickly in Notion, or make your dashboard
quickly organised. And you don't want to go
through the whole thing. But overall, it's
a really good way to also go from morphine
to community here, which brings up
all the templates. Really useful, really important. So keep this in mind if you
want inspiration or ideas. It's all there is to the

4. Blocks And Pages: Welcome to another video in the Skillshare medic
ten notion class, where I'll be telling
you how you can organize your life
views, notion. There's video, it'll be
based on blocks and pages, as you can see here. So you must be wondering, how do I get a blank
page on my Notion. So suddenly in the
next video or not, so what I've done here is
used to add page button. A quicker way of doing this too. What do you do here is add page. You can type in,
let's say pages. And it'll come up all the
way. And just to be here. Now this looks good, but this is the more basic way
of doing this. If you go here,
blocks and pages. Now what I'll do is I'll plot, I'll write this down, reduce the following commands. So you need to use this command. What this does, slashed brings
all these basic blocks. That's a way to create a page. So you can type in,
let's say, conditions. If you are a medical
student or you could mean the physio could be any
health care professional. Then you could type
in our solutions if you're engineering students
or engineering person. So what will happens
is using this, making your page ups
slightly Toronto and builds up to a lot more than
using the slash command. Again, what happens is then you get all these
different types. I'll explain to you
individually how you can do it. So heading one, really good
for having good headings. So it'll be, let's say type
one or heading, heading one. They'll type here. Here there'll be medium
section heading too. It's like a Word document
about the same time. It's all on Notion way. Everything is going to
be connect together. Then this is going
to be due to do the to do list
create video today. This is what happens
when he creates, do this and you press Enter. It brings another one down, say something else like
S rings and another one. It keeps doing until
you want to stop. Then you've got all
these other types here, the table he toggles one feature I find really
useful as a toggle list. So to toggle this allows you
what is the weather today? And it doesn't
tell me instantly. We have to just past
the arrow here. Sunny and cloudy, e.g. this is very
important because it tells you what's
underneath the toggles all you can hide
it good for using the technique of active recall, which I've mentioned it
before in my YouTube videos. And here, it's basically
in sunny and cloudy hides. This gives a question, gives you the answer really good for learning new content or whatever professional you will be in or studies you'll be. So these are all
the types you have. Say if I click on here, Let's say link to page while too is I'll just
click here pages. If I click on pages, it automatically
brings me two pages. There's a backlink as well. Go back to blocking pages, or we can do switch back
and forth between them. So it's really good. You can explore all the
different options you have. We'll then this part here. So again, I've been through a few of the different types

5. Decorate Pages: Hi, and welcome back
to another video in the metric tons
Scotia notion class. I'll be going over how you can decorate your pages
and create good pages. I'll do it again for so
go here and I'll type in page so here it
will be conditions. And let's because I'm from the medical
profession, what I'll do, I'll tell you how
I organize it and making pages look good
to learn medicine. Going away would be start
obviously add an icon. The icon and with
type here book. And what I'm doing is typing
close book afterwards. One way to do it, my
structurally different toggles are wind need smell
with a medicine. Again, I'm going to use page. It'll be anatomy, then it
will be cardiology. There. I'm thinking this is taking really long to make
all these pages. If I need to make 20 pages in
one go, how would I do it? So I'll type out
the word I need to first toe it would
be endocrinology, hematology, and also, these are different topics you have
to cover within medicine. So, so what I'm doing now is the following. I just highlighted all this. I'll type in, I'll click
here on this six doc column. While Jews turn into page and work does change
all this into pages. Then you click on the icons and activities
to type in the muscle. It gives the icon there for muscle cardiology is the heart. It will be here endocrinology. There'll be along the
lines of here will be blood for the muscle. You get to just afterwards, we can just start
labeling this here. Then afterwards what happens is once you got all this made here, then you'll see a huge
amount of progress, especially when you
come to doing it. Then the whole pages are
much more decorated and mix. It looks so much better as well. And actually makes you
want to work on a lot more compared to if you
were to just leave a plane. I just put different, uh, different types here in terms
of what the topics are. So what I've done,
I've made my list here that afterwards you
want to make this better. So how would you make
this a lot more better? So the way I would do it as
as good to cardiology, e.g. if you have subtopic, let's say you have an MI. So an MI is basically
myocardial infarction. Does term use. All right, so this is a
key topic in medicine. You can write all
sorts of information. I'm just going to pull
like this here in terms of underscores just to tell you what information
when I put it down. Once you've written all
the information down. So then you want to do
a subtitle definition. The way I did this
with definition is press the Control or the Command pasta
control with B. And for Windows, use
control shifts as well. There'll be Command Shift B
and I if you're on a Mac. So I'm doing Command Shift, Command Shift B, which
is going to be bold. Command B, which is
definition in this case. So actually if you
come to do it, It's not command shift. Unless when it comes
to doing colors, then it'll be Command
D for definition, command I for using italic. So Command I, italics and what it does press
a wanton stays with them. So I'll write the
thing here which will make it easier for
you to understand. So for bowls on Notion, use the following instruction. So be Command B, Mac, which means bold. Command, which means
Mac, which is italic. Commands be who spoke here, Control, Control B, which is
going to be a Windows bold. Then control, which is
going to be a Windows. Tell us these are
the different types of ways you would use this, especially when you're
on your Windows or Mac, depending on which
system you're using. So these are just
simple instructors I've just put here in terms of how to just following instructions
and you'll be fine. Now, the definition, this
is how I've done this. A definition here says a key topic in medicine
we can do afterwards. If you click here, I
want to make this to be more colorful and bigger. So you'll click on Heading
three, the hedging three. Then I want to highlight this
so I know some definitions. I'll give a nice different
color, the background red. And this is a very key
thing I need to know, CFPB, either in
bold or click here. Then what I'm gonna
do then is go here and type here,
let's say orange. And that clearly
highlights you want the medicine color to be
in a different color font. Random background, while you will do is go here and click. Therefore, that's how
you make your pages are whole bar better when
you come to doing it, that you have all sorts of information in terms
of its symptoms. And all sorts lunch rice, this is how you decorate
two pages and shape them, not only just how you add
an icon, so add an icon, they're using their senses, the heart, again,
openness, a cover. This is good in terms of colors. We could just change the color, add some much one trustee, you can upload your
own files used in from your computer or
your Windows or your Mac, or you can use this here. This looks quite interesting
to learn and look at. Okay, makes so much
more from what is the basic simple
page to allow more complex adding layer
after layer, right? This is the end of
this video to show you how you can

6. Intro To Databases And Views: Back to another video, the metric ton Scotia
notion series. While we go over
the introduction to database is a database
essentially is derived from the where you put a piece of data or piece of information into a system works and turbidity
recommend use. So that's where our database, as it comes to Notion databases are basically made of full of code beforehand. So all you have to do is type in database
and I'll come up. So if I type here, you've got all
sorts of databases. So the way I'm going
to do is if I type in, let's say database
inline full page. So I'll do full-page for
us because these are, this is why you call a database. A database here I'm
just going to type in database for Page, want to go back a page, click on this previous one. Database full page. Again, there'll be an open book. So the way I'll do it
here, less slowly open, we're not completely open, then it will be the name
here, let's say videos. If I have different tasks, I wanted to say
there'll be videos. Studying coding, there'll be all sorts
of different things. Then you can assign tags. And the way you would
do this is to say videos is basically
for Skillshare. Skillshare, they're
studying medicine. Depending on what
subject to study, you can do that encoding here, which is going to be programmed. And so that's all sorts of
get used in terms of tags. Now what happens is you
can use another party or you can add to create texts, number, select, multi-select. Now I'm going to do is here. I'm just going to
make a checkbox. Checkbox allow me to workout
when I finished it or not. So that's how you would do it. Very important to see in terms of when you're doing
this that allows it to take stuff off the basics to do with the databases
and what they are, then you can add more to it, which I'll go into
further videos on what, what types you need
to know in terms of making include
successful database, how you can use it,
while to as well. And just show you how
this can be viewed. When you're looking
at the views of it. The view options
as a table view. There's a board view. There's a timeline view, which allows you to see
stuff on different points. You only just see anything
losses specify the date. There's a calendar view. Again, I haven't
specified a date. The ListView, which I have
here, the gallery view, all sorts which I'll go
over and being more, you can face image, open pages and center
peak the ad full pages, signed pages from a desired
peak that you can go to, full page, that you
go to the center. We'll do centipede for now. Let's go back to the table. So this is what database does, and thus all the different
types of layouts as well. We used to see. Then in terms of
next up filters, which I'll go in the next video, how you can sorted

7. Filtering And Sorting Databases: Welcome back to another video in the Skillshare class
on this one as well. I'll be going over how you can filter and sort
with the database. So if you click on
salt for starters, there'll be solved by name. So if you haven't
got sold by name, it'll do it alphabetically. And we'll do here then is
if I click name ascending, and what essentially does
is because CSV is sent, you will also have
this descending if you wanted to go
the opposite word, source according to the name, then if I get rid of this, you can add multiple sorts. So you can have Checkbox. Checkbox is basically work will be ascending or descending. And regardless of this, it won't change
anything or less. And tickets, if you were to untick it to uncheck
box comes first. The chatbox comes later than if you were to do the
descending side of it. Check box comes first
unchecked cubs after. So that's how you
do the check box. And finally, if you were to have an Add sorting
again for the date, let's say the tags, even the ascending here, descending the, it will be again PMS rather than SMP
depending on how it does, it automatically
organizes it as well. Now cutoff filters, these
filters are very important, especially if you want
to have something, don't want to have something. If it contains, let say here. Let's say is really useful
when you used in tags. And you can create an array called Linked Database as well, which I'll go into more
detail in a minute. So here it will basically be tags with the tags wild
zoo is the ruler can say, let's say Skillshare
automatically just keeps stuff, gets rid of everything else. But that's not useful. Because if you can get
rid of everything else, whereas everything else go. I'll go with this
in the next video, which should be on linked
database is how you can transfer from one database to another in a systematic way. You have everything organized. It's really cool
trick, really niche. All these notion dashboards have them to increase
the productivity, help teach you how to
do the same thing, which took me some
time to work out. But here, if it is, does not contain Skillshare, everything else will
stay and everything else will stay and
Skillshare specifically go. The key thing is to play around with the filters,
understand them. So this is all there
is to the filtering and sorting out of hope

8. Linked Databases: Welcome back to another video in the Skillshare
series for notion. Well be going over how you
can create a linked database. So I'll do is I'll write here, organising my life.
Organizing my life. That could be anyone that
can be used for the medium, could be your whole
life in terms of work, personal, anything else? The way I would do here is if you were to have a database, you want to create
a linked database. So now this top row, these are full-page use
that in a line database. So Inline database, so
you can rename this. So let's say you need to have
the Jew tasks or do tasks. Do tasks here. So let's say you have
complete, chose Jews studying. We talked with friends, assign them different tags. Here will be again,
let's say medicine. Let's say he is gonna be social, complete chores going
to be personal. These are all the
teams you have. Then you have all this. How do I put this according
to how I want it to be? Then you can add it
here, say a checkbox. Checkbox now call asap so you
know you've done it or not. Tell yourself, is it urgent? Is keeping up the other
trump box? Is it done? Finally, have a date. In terms of what you want. It could include time
if you want to save, It's hard to know if
it's here today, maybe. That will be the due dates. Complete, chose to
study, whatever will be. Will you see that is
when you have oldest, you can also drag this. I'm just going to drag it
here according to the date. Then you have done
studying or tomorrow. And let's see, that was in terms of priorities for
I know straightaway, this is important here. So what I'll do is now I'm going to tell you how you can link
this with database. Before you left

bit more decorative. If you don't want

create heading one, and I'll center align
it here like this, so it would be personal. Okay. I'll do is create

these different colors. So this will be an
orange background. There should be a
blue background and this would be

is finally create another database
which is in line. And I'll do the
same thing again. Here. No problem with this is if I
were to create a database, I have this did
not link together. So whatever I put here, if I were to say, let's say create the filters
that once I create a filter, if it's TikTok, it
will not go into here. So what I'm gonna do
is I'm just going to get rid of this database. Overall. They don't
want this here. Thus, the problem
is when you create these individual
databases won't work. Now, first thing
I'm going to do for that is to set my filters here. If it's done, you will want to check it
once this is done. So let's file a filter. If it's done is checked, or if I was writing
done is unchecked, is do the opposite. So you want to keep it. Then it'll go thus
the table there. So that's why you want to be. Then here, what I'm going
to do, the magic happens. This is what I call the
magic sudden notion. So you want to create
a link database. Link view of a database.
Links to view. Insisting database here
would be to add Jew tasks. Do tasks would come here. So reason being I do Zhu
tasks and repeats again is linked view database
again Jew tasks. And finally there will be again database link view of Jue tasks. Alright, so using database I used to do tasks because
that's what it's called. Now here you have your
personal tasks here. This is where your Chu tassel. You can just type in
whatever you like here, since this is your main
place he had to toss. This is linked to
your original table. Now, the reason being you
have this is you only wanted to toss up
personal to appear here. So if I said to you, here, you will have
is the following. So if I were to filter, it will only show tasks. Say outfile sir tags. It only contains personal. Then you would have filter. Tags only contains
medicine blindly, who would have here? Filter only contains social. That way you have all
these stuff here linked. If I said to, you know, it is going to be filter tags. Tells them contain
Madison social, personal. Whatever you add the saying
that'll complete tutorial. This is going to be pass all the personal because
this is what I'm to do. Teach you how it's done. Now, once I click on it, before I want to click on this, click on asap, click on
and due dates and stay. Then click on here is
what happens is is there isn't a while I've done is I've transferred wherever
I've done that too here, I'll actually see all
this coming up here. Completes skills. If a medicine that could
be anything with skills. And you'll notice
that it disappeared. So it's appears here that says, what do you need to do when

to create a link databases. And finally, once you're
done with the task, you don't want to
just take it off, check it off it done. And that's how you
would do it here. So this is how you create your linked databases to have
relations to each other, helps you to tick off your
tasks at the same time, put tasks and one central table, distribute them into
different places, making you more productive
throughout the day. So thank you for

you can make Kanban board. So by just typing the slash

would have progress to something else so you
can create a new page, e.g. new page will be to do. It's already been done. So progress and cards, if you say cards here, complete videos, awesome
stuff you want to add in. Let's say the start, the middle, and the end. What will happen is
you can move this over to here for some progress, moved to see it as complete as all there is to
combine specifically, you can also rename
this teaching. E.g. then you have dust
Campbell Kanban board. This is the gallery view. Gallery view is
basically if again, if you basically just
typing gallery view here, new database, anything you wanted to the page on page two, page three, add anything
again, create a template. So if I'd say template and bus and configure out
whatever you want. Then you get out in
terms of options and all the rest to
gallery and Kanbans. Thank you for
