The first part of the course is where you are going to learn about the notion basics. How to create a page. What are the basic blocks involved in Notion or the advanced features? And what are the tips and tricks that are in notion that we can utilize effectively and efficiently organize our workflow. Then the second part, you're going to deal with essential features that are provided by notion. This part will make you very flexible in using notion. In the final part, you will go through practical lectures of project management using notion. This is where you're going to learn about how to design a project workspace using core principles which are going to entirely and totally transform the way you are going to organize and create in your work is going to be both efficient and effect do reducing the cognitive overload and at the same time, streamlining all the task functions. Scaling with me and learn notions beginner's guide. Thank you very much people. 2. #1 Notion Basics: Hello guys. Now I'm going to teach you about the basics. Notion. Write, edit, and what are the features that are available and how we can actually operate using Notion, the basic operations on your notion. Understand this. Everything in Notion works as a page. Every little thing is a page. You can nest pages, 100 pages, which can turn into a book or something that you can go. But ultimately every single thing is a bit. You can see, let me just delete this. There are already some pages which are given by notion itself. You can either use them or you can create your wound. These are simply pages. You don't have to worry about. Anything that is more complex than that. Everything is a bit, there are some advantage things which we can learn along the way. Right now. Understand that it is just a bit. Now I'm going to create a new page. Click on Add a page. It will open up this bit. At first it is entitled, You have to give a title. I'm going to use the platelets demo page because I'm going to place holder use an ocean using. There you go. Now you have a big demo, but we have some options here. This is an empty page with icon. This is an empty page. There are templates which are provided by notion which we can use. Import is trying to import something from somewhere else in Notion supports other types of files as well which we can import and presented as a notion page. Here it is not pages, but here it is databases which are also presented as pages. This is a database in the form of table. This isn't the form of a board or more particularly, you know, it is a Kanban board. This is a list database. List of items. This is a calendar database. One is a gallery database. Then this is a timeline database. These are different versions of databases which we can use right now. We're not getting into this in the next lectures we will probably deleted with databases. Right now let me just click it. Mtv DICOM. They have given an icon to display, can see here demo page. You can click on this and you can change what I want to show. You cannot upload an image or give a link so that an ocean relax dragged whatever image that is presented in that link enjoyed as urine, more imaging. Instead of choosing, you can also try random. You can see how these things are, how the image is being selected randomly. You can scroll down, find items which we reach using to have a great relevance with your page. Properly. I'm going to do this. That is the demo page. You're going to add cover and add comment. Let me choose that. It will do a cover your page. Firstly, to select something. You can change the cover. Either you can give a plain color gradient, are something from the archive of notion have saved here. Or you can upload an image or give a link. Or you can either search through Unsplash library. I'm going to choose something. We can also reposition that you can show rich part of the thing you want to show your position. Yes. That is one way of showing it. Add comment is doing comment about the page. And if there is any update that you have made and you want yourself to remind about it, or you want your team members to meet about it. You can add a comment here which will be displayed at the top so that they will know. We have just added a comment which when someone enters here, there'll be able to know, alright, this is the update here. You can simply delete comments right now and delete them. You can edit them. Just to let you know that there is a feature of add comment. Before I move on to anything, let me just tell you if you're trying to add text, it is just a simple thing. Adding text, I want to write something. If you are writing something on Notion page, it is as easy as typing on a notepad, but with extended capability and functionality and show you what those are. To understand, the writing is as easy as this. Also, we have different multiple types of blocks. Blocks or nothing. Action. Within an ocean pitch. This you can see the manipulator undertake. Talk about writing. There are two blocks. Let's see how we can make some editing. But before that, let me show you how many types of things we can add. How many types of things in the sense Amina types of blocks we can actually add. Let me introduce to all the blocks that are a bit. You can see type slash for. Let's treat it. Now you have been given what are the available blocks? These are basic blocks. One is typing text, which we have already shown here. The next is a bit. You can see the subscript, subscript m beta sub base inside this bit. But let's see how it is done. Here. A new pages open. What this will do. Let me give an icon. It is a sub page within that what I said initially notion can have pages and pages within pages. Eventually making seemed like a book. Not just here, but we can also access it here and click on demo page. The drop-down will give us a *****. That is one advantage. To-do list. We can use this to create a notion budgets, and we can do a to-do list of items where we can check off things as soon as they are completed. Well, let me show you that. Click on this. You can see if you hit at the rate. It will give you an option. Ph or mentioned age, date or reminding me tomorrow and add some moralist. That way. Do this way. You can actually add items. Brutalist there. Whenever you have gotten groceries, you can check them off. Nice, right. That is a way you can add to the list. Choose heading one, heading one, heading two, and heading three. These are given to find a structure for your writing. Headings do depth, meaning whatever you are writing. You can also see our demo page is referred to it that gonna do my heading one in March. That is, you can actually, this way you can maintain the list of these. Now, let's go and learn about the other block. You can see income here. You can color into blow duplicate them are clear contents within a table. In the table you can write like that. Blink list. If anything, within this, actually let me introduce a feature dropping bag and I want to choose them. Under Emma. In this way, nothing is visible now. But in the case of homogeneous resources, know where your information is hidden. You know where your information is available. And you want to access it. But you don't want it to be available in some place where you get it. Wanted to be accessible but not really poison out of disturbance and it's in the way information is being viewed. You want all this information, but in the emergency case you want something else right here. Then click on this and you'd get decent. Although this is not an emergency purposes, but just giving you an example. I'm just going to show you how to create a product. We can might be something that is a CT. Vida. It is nothing but giving preparation. You can see that there is a separate contract. Obviously we have greater, pretty creative. If I click on this sidebar. Right now we are in demo page, so demo page is highlighted. When I click here, the task list will be highlighted. You can see you now we are here. This way, you can actually link to other pages within your page. If you have something that the user who's coming to them, your display. This is a caution step which most people should be taken because when you're writing editing at the same time, your mind is in a position where you're not able to write anything. What do you do, right and finished it? Or you can actually edit anything. That is callout. What else do we have? These are inline where you can visit in reminder equation. These are database, media, image, graphic. Now here we are going to see what else can we video? Let's start a video. I want to say upload, download. I will put this. We can also video, have embedded a video. You can either upload a file size that is less than five MB or you can actually, this is a link from the YouTube which I have embedded. We can actually play it here and also extend size. You can also shrink it. That is one other. Here are some things you can embed PDFs, google Maps. You can embed a Google Drive or Google Doc, or a Google sheet. You can embed a tweet that we'd get Hub, GISD, Google Maps, Figma, abstract envision project denied a lot of things you can actually link or embedded with denotion. I'm going to embed this one actually creates. You can embed a project which is available within the links. Actually. See the file is being uploaded. These are some ways we can write Xt and make sure that we are getting using as many blocks as possible. These are some basic blocks which right now let me go into telling you how to edit. You can either do the whole block or just a simple part of a blog. I'm going to highlight this. We can actually change it into anything we want. We can create a link. Hotlink do have one. I'm going to use this one. Now you can see this is, I think at the same time. Now it has been opened. And I can actually change the entire thing. I can make this part as red. Change anything you want and add a comment. Or you can bold, italicize, underline or strike, or change it as markets code. You can create an equation which is transform. You turn the mathematical equation are, you can mention a page or a person, or you can simply delete the entire block as well. There are a number of things you can do. Not only that, but also you can after the new edited on the goal. Me agree. What I will do it. Background. There are a number of things you can edit. Depends on what you want it to. I wanted to change it to heading two. This is a task. This is the basic functionality or the basic operations that we can perform using notion. In the next lecture, I'm actually going to take you into advanced operations using Notion to stay ahead with me. Thank you very much guys. 3. #2 Notion Basic Features: Not just that, but let me give you some understanding right now. We have a sidebar here which displays all the pages, templates, important, crashed means deleted beatings. I'll show you, I'm going to delete this thing here. Go to current page. We have this delta. We can close the sidebar. Now. You can share dispatch published on web. You can, if you click on this link, you can copy this link and share it with anybody, anybody going to view this big, depending on the settings, you can either allow comments or editing. You can also make it make this accessible on search engine or allow distributed duplicated as a template. You can invite people to this particular page. I'm not making this. You can add comment. You can show the updates that we have made on this page. You can make this a star so that writing feverishly would turn this off, it will be lost. Then let's click on this. These are some other settings that are particular for this page. Those dissipate go from top to bottom. Now we are in default side. This is the lifestyle. This is mono style. This is default. Considered mono. The kind of extra want and what seems reasonable and really easy for you to read. You can choose that. Right now it isn't moderate texts can change it, this protects, or you can increase the rate of your pitch. Or you can even customize based on growing. Which means showing backlinks to page. This page has been linked in to upload page discussions where you wanted page comments. All of these can be provided the top of the page or wherever we want log page. When you lock pitch, editing will be totally remote. You cannot edit this entity. You're gonna add to favorites. The easy, one easy way is here. You can copy the link and shaded with somebody. Undo or Control Z or Alt Delete is used to retract the changes you have made. History. This is personal PRO. Right now we are using a version, going deleted pages, delete this page or import something from somewhere. You can see you can put $5 from greater import fellow SINR conference next and markdowns here three comma separated values or KML betas, Word document, Google Docs, Dropbox, Paper, workflow. Then our number of things which we can import or export. You can export this page as McDonald's CSV, PDF or HTML. You could include content everything or no files or images and paste format later if for A3 legal tabloid, a scale person degenerate, including sub-pages, subpages in the sense like we can see the romantic general here. This is a sub page. If you want to include, you have to upgrade. Your version. Won't be including some pages in the Slack channel. Slack channel is where you can get with your employees on the remote end, you can move it to somewhere else. These are settings with this individual. Let me show you patient hearing chicken foods, do you these are integrations that you can use on your notion. Dashboard, language and religion. Earning credit settings which you can change your name, domain, you can set your own, give it an icon or public homepage. These are members when you actually use it for when you want to use it to the team, right, for free with there is an avulsion of it. Are upgrade. You can use it. Try for free here conducting cells. These are some facilities are features that are provided when personal, personal protein and Enterprise Billing new actually used for security and identity. These are for enterprise, not for us. Integration to integrate other things. Google Robb, lack anything else we can integrate along with notion. The ******, the future quick, fine. Where you can actually listener into personal filtering based on whatever we want. Depending on the filters. You are done with any kind of you will be getting up data about all the updates of your pages. Just did. Here. Those are some things to keep in mind. Just del database. Thank you very much. 4. #3 Notion Databases: Hello guys. In this lecture we are going to discuss about databases. Learn about how to use, create, and modify, and apply the database pages within notion. Let me take you through these things. The very first is I'm gonna give a title to this page. I have created a new page that I would give you a good understanding about databases. Database example. You can already see here. There are different types of databases. One is the table database, board database, List database, calendar view database, gallery database. Promotion provides us with six different types of databases. Depends on what and how we want to use them. Depending on the need of your work, you can use whichever one you want. The video. First thing is I'm gonna go with the payable type of database because D is the most fundamental way of representing the database. First thing is let me do this anion. Click on Run. This is a table. Column names. Extend. These are rules where we can act. Dad died. First thing is every record in a bead in a database has a page. The first theme, this is where pages are going to happen. Here if you type something, different, tags, multiple things. We have kept. It is I'm gonna deal with the properties. Give different than that, you would understand what this record actually means and what it is. For one feature review. You can click on this, will open up a page here and whatever items you feed here. Simply to give you an understanding. You can actually have part of things. The database, rows and columns have bases itself. Within database. We can have a lot more pages. Pages within pages. But in an organized format. This is a payable real database. Do we have to change it to enable database? We going to do is I'm going to just put demo database, database table economists to give. Database is nothing but giving you a view like N band task board. Each card item within Kanban view. Have the status, what chartered or in progress or completed. You can add log on with your own cards and x would give you the status. In particular item is processed. That is more deadly. This is just a rough items. You can use it. People my list there. But no databases. Be utilize it based on your phone. Then we have a catalog, items. You can add it. Calendar database is time, and you can create a page on time or date specific timeline, particular I ask it. Being processed. This particular random process. Valerie data. Don't worry, we're gonna go in depth in each of these database type, giving you one of them that we actually have. This is the database. Here. We can have pages. File, cabinet, can jumble your crab, you have a traveling portfolio and you want to save contents based on which country you have visited. Then you would go for these types of things. And this would be for a grease country. And you would place all the grids related items here. That way you can actually make a lot of usage with gallery databases. Now let's deal with the properties inside a database. I have said within every database we have an item. Here, we have records. Each record have a multiple properties, which means properties are nothing but what defines our gives meaning? Identification to a particular item. Record one, record two, record three. There are three different records, but we understand which one. I mean, what each record belongs to. Given here a chart review for first one. The second reason in NW, the third one is an annual review. If you don't have this kind of identification, attach it to it, you would just have to go through every single record, which is going to be a lot more time taking if you have too many records in your database, although the name itself of the page or the record can give you a lot of identification. When you have a 100 records and you want to find out something which you don't or you might not remember the name of it, then you can actually use these tags or whatever properties that you have set. Go through that particular record and find out. It is a great way for you to go through anything you wanted to find. Let me just give you what kind of properties and click on. Right now we have capital. The property that you can actually pick out, what are the kind of properties that you can give. The first basic, these are texts, simply giving a description for anything you want to create. Then the number. You can have a cutoff up, purchase items, you can give it a price. Or if you have something like tracking your weight over the weeks, you can give it a read as a number. Then select is where we have used the tags in each other, v and dv and annual reviews. Or this select is going to be giving you the option of choosing only one. One tag per record. You cannot choose multiple, but multicellular give you, we'll give you multiple choices. You can tell it to 31 or two, or three or as many as you want. This is where you can add reminders, are geared, deadlines are included when an event has occurred or when a record has been created. Like if you are maintaining your budget should here, you can do a transaction date. Or if there isn't a task you have assigned to somebody within your team or to yourself. You can give it a deadline. Person is when you actually referred to a person on your team. This is where assignments can be useful. Files and Media. Whenever there is a record where particular items are, references, are attachments that are really necessary. Go along with that particular record. You can upload files and images. Street tick box. Checkbox is when you can track the status with a single checkbook. I mean, like if you are maintaining a habit tracker, which we are going to create it within our course in a very subtle manner. If you want to. Just keep it checkmark that you have completed something, you can use checkbox. You already is when you want to record. The redesign. Didn't use URL as property. Referencing an e-mail address. You are running a blogger outreach, Outreach. Multiple people are using number of list of people. You want to email it to them and just do the e-mail addresses. Putting the full numbers. These are basic properties. Here we have tangent of property. Formula is when you can do properties. The formula for using, these are not basic ones. These are some things we can customize. Done our need unless are very advanced and very useful, which we are going to discuss in our course. Plus extensively, we are going to dig deep into it. Then relation. Relation will allow you to link or reference to another data in another page. That is rollup. Follow-up is when display and summarize data from I can answer. Relation is where you can link or reference to another page. Database and roll-up is when you can extract some kind of details from the relation or the reference grid. I'm going to teach you how this is done. This lecture. Right now. Review created that particular reference. Predict by whoever has estimated time. If you want to track the status, update particular page, you can choose these two things. Who edited? These are some kinds of properties that we good usage of. Just go into deep. I'm going to tell you about related. Now these are problems. Let me tell you how to. Here I'm going to give deadline. Let's not talk about filters. Builders are nothing but making sure that your database or whatever you're trying to view in your database, you can exclude some items from viewing in a particular view. I mean. Right now we have three records. There are 300 records and you only want to visit about basic view of each other via the cartridge. Then come here into Filter, Add Filter, tag each other view. You can only have records of each other. Review that. And if I want to hit chart review and annual review, filter, and in the end, tag review, now I have two records. Let me just turn into a group filter deadline. Before. Now you can see there are two filters. This way you can actually create database views. Our create view records within a database of only those records that we tend to your category. This filtering, you make use of properties as the guidelines of how you want to view the cuff. Now you have understood how filters work. Let me remove all of this. If you want your records to do it in a certain way. Now we can see the deadlines on d 2421. You can either have them in ascending or descending. I want the earliest deadline to be. What I would do it 2s, which property of ascending? You can see now it has been ordered. Ending. Earliest Deadline would appear at the bottom of this at 110 new format. This way you can use sort. You can use sort or you can apply sort on multiple things. If I have 30, you can see you can apply sort that you would understand which one property. Data record. Filters on tort are some things you can think. Modification, the way the databases are showing record. Records are being told you not to simply remove any record. The standard, all the records of your database are still existing, but within that particular view, filtered and sorted. That is going to be customized based on what properties we have covered filters and sort. Now let us look at page, webpage and you must have databases nor to them at that point. I want to say each of these databases which we have greater page data later, which means when I go into the sub h, I can have the database. By going to this board database, I can put each database is created in the form of page. But if you want the database to be shown within a page and actually create one. I'm gonna go to, which already has I want here. I'm database, which you can see here there is Inline database type. You will have inline and a full-page 2s. Here I'm going to choose inland. Now you can see this. Here. You will get all the records which are mostly whenever we do Inline Database, it will be filters and toward applied because inland databases, what did we would use up inland databases is show only particular records that belong to a certain page. If this is a page that has all the customer requirement data, I will be showing the online database, record customers and the requirements. And if there is any time period involved, I would apply that filter as well. Those are sorted based on priority. It will be much more useful to inline databases are where you wouldn't be seeing these apart of who says where we can in pretty single database type as an inline and flipping database. You can use them. Let me show you those thing. Here. The database, table, inline, gallery, inland, list, calendar, inline, timeline, and you can come on your table database few page for database, for gallery database, full timeline database, list database, full-page Islander database flip timeline database. Database type has a calendar, Sorry. The page view and inline view depends on what you want to choose. Now it is time for us to discuss the database. Let's look into that. Let's see what we can do. Here. We have records about all of them. What if you wanted to view things are records that have only reviews. Here we have got review review any interview. Interviews. I will do is if you can filter and sort by those. Not the main one. You would do is to name this part of filter. Regards to if I wanted to review records. This one, due to what is the hitchhike? In this way, you can actually use different views. These are database views. Within the database. This is created as a table database, but we were able to create a few of the list. We can use multiple database types and different views for a single database. That is cool. Now, if I wanted to view ports based on deadline, I have a calendar. I wanted to group things by deadline. Deadline. Here you can see 16 has one deadline where when one has under the deadline 24 has another important thing to understand here is we are we are trying to show which is an item on which day. Simply, this would be a simple procedure. If if it is attached, there has to be performed on that particular day. You can see it as a deadline or it can be seen as a reminder. But what if you have a test that has to be completed on a particular date, by a particular day reaches. It has to be started on a particular day. Like you have a task that is, they started in first, asked to be completed by March. You don't want to be reminded on 25th and you don't want to be sure it as something that has to be descent pattern times. You wouldn't be going for deadlock timelines. But here we don't have to do is I would go for all I would actually do timeline. If I go to Part of it is. In this way, you can see whenever you get to this part, you will note there is something that has to be started, but it is attached that has to be carried out over the period of five days. And by the time we did today, you have to be able to finish. It, would plan accordingly for the entire five-day period. Timelines are useful in this manner. You can either see all the records here or you can simply close it. But let's get back to all records. This way you will be able to use different database views, single database, different way. You can actually create all kinds of stuff. If I add a status here, you can see that there is one task completed. You can see here the time these to it because just to give you an example, what is happening to them are completed, which are already showing is in progress. This is if you don't want all of these properties you can have. You can see this is a much more cleaner view. In this manner, you can select which properties are to be shown and which one should be turned off. Just because you'll have turned off these properties here doesn't mean those are removed because in this view those properties are invisible. But if you go here, all the properties are again visible. In this manner, you can use database views to make sure that you are having a clean and also a very flexible way of using Notion databases. Take advantage of this database, which when you are trying to tinker with any kind of data that you wanted to store and use and modify and make use of and actually use it to replication. Guys, database also has feature. If we have more number of records, we can actually search. I hit here. I know something about onto. I want to search. This is how you can use the search feature. Rechecking actually help you in being a lot of stuff. Simply a winding filters and sorts. If you are obviously aware of more than name you have given record. Third trigger is something to be for you to use if you're aware of this hood if title page. The next is template. You have seen here a chart review, interview, annual review. These are some pretty independent things which means not, not in the sense where these tasks are pretty common. But I'll review or an interview or an annual review. It'll have some boilerplate things that are pretty easy to do, which means which are repetitive, which don't need too much thinking. Or sometimes the questions will be common for all of them. For example, an annual review consist of questions give their Daniel review is being conducted for ten employees. A question is for all ten of them will have ten questions. I mean, if the reviewer is actually wanted to go through each individual, then it will have some other usual way would be all the ten employees will be facing similar questions. In this case, you don't want to included anybody. Didn't see whenever you get this. We can give this. You don't need to change. You would know, for interviews. Go ahead and add a needless to say, this will be called. Everybody. Welcome. We'll review. You can do this. You're trying to conduct. Should have created a headline. Have. You can see this way. Quite actually used. If you can create a database template, which is always useful, it can be pretty easy to work with if you're working in a software project and there are bugs being reported, you don't want. There is a certain way each bug has to be reported because there will be certain details common for every bug. And each bug will be having a description. And second details are common for anybody that has been recorded. In that way. That iteration, what we would do is you would create a template that named as bug report and give the common details that are necessary. Although you would leave room for giving any additional information, templates are useful when you have a common information necessary for recording any new any common type of tasks, that is, Peter, once in a while. Do you have any template has to be entered? That is the process here. We have covered templates are distinct. This will be, I'm going to have hello. I wanted to show this has purchased something from the items I want. Then what it will do is items won't be a multi-cell, but this will be a relation. I will be using the items databases and reference database. Jacob t-shirt. And I want the price to be available here. Then I would use discipline lobe property name. I want the price on them on the sum. Now, if there is somebody likes, you can see the prices on this. If you go to higher yields. Data to either hide this property viewed as you go into customers purchase. If I want. I want this day. This is how mediations and ellipse can work. Great way for you to link to databases and create references for the next would be linked databases. That's going to understand. Now let's create the linker databases. We have already seen table database having these. If you want a new page where just to distinguish. This is only for what I would do it. This is when you have a HR, if you are a hedgehog and you want to see what tasks are assigned to you, what other reviews that you have to conduct, then you would come here and bleed to see what reviews are pending. This is unlike database views which we have seen earlier. This is a linked database, which is, which means a database that is already existing within another page. And yet you can create a copy of it here. Just because you have filtered here things doesn't mean that the actual database effected. The actual database is the ending everything. But here we have our things. We have filtered. Although when you actually make any changes here, if you actually pull two tables, they're open record one. If you go back to open this, you can see databases are where you are having a copy of the already created database. They want. Although you can use, you can use you can use different tools. It is always easy. Photocopy of that is that you learn everything that is to know about databases. Let's get to the next lecture where we're going to learn about some useful and very effective Notion tips and tricks. Thank you very much. 5. #4 Formulas 101 Part 1: Hello guys. Notion. Great way are a great tool for uniquely organization productivity and collaboration. Notion uses a pretty neat and unique property called formulas. The formula property within those databases. Also this notion. Even further. What are formulas? Formulas can be infinitely complex. I can nested if conditions and functions with like structure or plus, plus to literally like two plus two equals four. I'm going to give you a brief introduction and practical examples and show you how formulas are used. How can you write formulas? And water formulas are actually existing right now to use. If you are new to formulas. This lecture, we'll actually give you the detail understanding about how to go ahead and learn about formulas. Notion. But this is 101. We are going to be pretty basic in this lecture. Is going to be already Linda lecture, but I'm going to go ahead and teach about every little thing. Some people, it might be really picking breadcrumbs. Are some people who just going to be complex. It depends on your level of skill. But right now, I'm going to go through every little detailed part of notion formulas and make you, and get you familiar with this. Very first thing. What is a formula like text, number did, and other basic properties which we have already seen within Notion Basics lecture. Formula properties contain a value for each item in a database. While you manually input that value for most properties. Properties automatically generate the values by transforming other properties and useful. Define those transformations. You write a formula. For example, you have a database which as some details like firstName and lastName. But you still want to have a full name. Then you would concatenate those two names and a full name. But why our formulas useful? Utility of notions, formula properties, virtually endless. It will start with simple, common applications. Gradually expand the way you use it. The highest level, you will use formula properties to achieve one of two outcomes. Calculate a new value from other properties. Brief I'm at another property, changing from number to string, the string to number, or are calculating age, something like that. There are three ingredients of a formula, but right now, I'm gonna give you the value types you can derive from, from formulas. Number one. Number two different paradigms, or floats or integers are whole numbers. Hello. Once we have decimal point, decimal numbers, numbers, both of them where it is adductor or later text. What can we consider it as dream? But three, database value type. Two types of things is indeed property where you can actually eat. One is now function. It is a function defined within the notions to give you the date of this particular day. Data as two weeks. The Boolean is either introduced boolean and understand these things. But one isn't, is three is good for is Boolean reading. Those are the notions. Database value types. Here. What do word in the sentence? What are we going to do using the formulas? We have two things here, operator and perform medical operations. Candidate, medical nothing but operations. Addition, thymus, fraction, multiplication, which means multiply to them. Ashes of Buddhism is a percentage or adolescent result. In reminder, these are arithmetic operator concatenation. Either character. How do you concatenate? Well, we do have this ray is. Intestine. You use the playing field between. When you use bless between two friends, adding. The next string. Functions. Functions are like predefined functions are the functions that we have created. These functions, we can perform certain operations that will either create a new value or modify the value that we have already stored in another property. What I mean, we're doing something what we are what we are doing. You're doing something to walk. The property difference means the other columns in the database. Because properties exist other than what we are creating this form, you can refer to those properties, the database, and actually perform a new, a new operation and get a new value. Literal values are values that we can do. Inside the form. Constants are some values which are changed at all, are not going to change. When. Finally, as function, if you are create a certain criteria, that criteria is met. You can say this action is that is the basis of functions. Let me take you notion, actually help you understand how can we do certain operations. I'm gonna create a new database. Formulas. First one is database. We can click the entire thing is done with them. Type form. It is. This is an number, is it is aligned to the left. Formula. Plus to give six. I'm picking the dysfunction. How it can be what we want. There is another function, unlike others. For what we have to do. The separator, I'm going to pick dataflow votes for. Is nothing but difference between you can see where you have to put the capital. You can see to calculate an important route of things that we have. I'm going to let you I have shown you all the database and you're tight. Let me introduce you to the Boolean debt, which I have already told you. Discuss about minorities. Chip. Let's go ahead and introduce written Written first equation. The value of the value of this one is true. The unequal. These are some numeric function. Mbs is written that positive cube root multiple greater than or equal to, greater than. The least is pi divided by argument? The largest. Opposite. Sense, the base ten argument. Practice. Number. This number, something very important. 6. #5 Formulas 101 Part 2: Short string and number cannot be added because an a plus sign is given as an operator between two strings and concatenate, concatenate. Two numbers. Add. But if it is given between a string and a number, it is going to be a little, let see how it is. Firstname. What do we do? Efficient, but still I want to string, Hi everyone The other way. Let me do not have we have excellent. Both of them will show. Yes. We have this regular expression which we are not going to direct. This is beyond the scope of our course. Regarding specific. Good. Greater than This is discussed. Okay, great head-start. We actually element for us. She's going to perform good. 7. #6 Formulas 201 Intro: Hello guys. Now, I'm going to take you through formulas to 01. In this lecture, we are going to focus more intensely on how to use formulas to perform certain operations in a more complex manner. The previous lectures or Formula One 01, we have been introduced it to formula operators, arithmetic operations, functions, and what we can do with them. Now, it is our basic understanding. And we have to use the understanding that we have obtained to practice and actually apply it so that we can use Notion more effectively. For this lecture. I have chosen this Eisenhower Matrix. Everybody is pretty much familiar with this. But let me just give you an understanding and what theories about Eisenhower Matrix is a very productive and organizational tool or system which, which will give you a very clear understanding about what we should be doing, what you should be not doing. A little more than that. Let me tell you something. This is pretty much a weekly organization or weekly planning system which people can adopt. Every task can be categorized as either important or agentic. Whenever you want something to be done, you have to take it in this matrix. This matrix has four columns, two rows and two columns. The columns are urgent and not urgent. Rows are important and not important. It is a matrix with four boxes. The first box on the top-left is when a task or project is comes under both important and both urgent. If it is both important and urgent, you'd have to do, you have to do the task. Here. The tasks with clear deadlines and significant consequences if not completed in a timely fashion. 8. #6 Formulas 201 Part 2: If a task is not agenda, but it is important. This is when you have to schedule, it asks me to no set deadline, but that bring you closer to your long-term goals. These are the ones which you have to schedule. Falls under the top right corner. The bottom left corner is when a task is not important, but it is something that has to be done. Urgent task that needs to get done, but don't need your expertise in order to be completed. This is when you delegate certain tasks. Something that is very, very important, sorry, something that is very urgent. But yet you can use someone else because your expertise doesn't match clearly to that finish that task, then you have to delegate a task. Then finally in the bottom right corner, attach that is not important and that is not Agent. This is wet tasks that distract you from your preferred course. You don't add any measurable value. That case, it would be deleting those tasks because deleting tasks do not worry about it because see any progress or choose something you have to have certain amount of focus. Unless you delete some things from your life, you cannot achieve any kind of focus. When you, when you delete some tasks and you delegate which things are not really up to your expertise or tax that tasks which are beyond your expertise, you delegate those tasks. And when you schedule your tasks which are not having any deadline, but still it helps you to bring closer to your long-term goals. These things, when they are cleared out, the tasks which have clear deadlines and at fall into the top-left corner of doom. That is when your life becomes much more clear. Ritonavir matrix is very, very important for you to apply if you want. What I wanted to do is I want to prepare a system which will help you to use this kind of workflow that I'm going to create a table database. Let me just close the sidebar because I like here it will be the task name. Here it will be, the deadline. Will be here, it will be. Let me do this. To customers. That is not what we are having a trick. Actually. Just give you an understanding. Pretty much if something is, something is important, is important not embedding. This is something we can taxation. Not tell you something. One important formula you will have. There is more potent, but not important, but urgent. Important. A good understanding of how we want. We want exactly. That you're having you wanted to do something, you can go ahead and try it out. This is one good example of triangle formulas to 01. So with this knowledge, I hope you can use formulas and much better way. In the next lecture, we're going to learn about project management. Creating project management dashboard. This is one way you can find your way and if you have any other approaches, but feel free to drop it in the comments section. Thank you very much guys. 9. #7 Project Management using Notion: Hello guys. In this lecture I'm going to show you how to design a project management. Your project using Notion. The main aim in this lecture is to use Notion very effectively so that all those things which we have learned until now are actually useful for us. And they're going to be effective in the way we are doing. Any day. That cognitive overload is decreased in terms of organizing productivity and managing stuff. Right now Let's get ahead into this project management lecture. And this is not just a simple project management that can be done in a particular way. It is like a framework which can be adapted to any kind of project that you want to take over. Any framework. Obviously, we'll have some, I'm going to give you a rule here as well. Here is one. To rural areas. There will be a master database. All the information regarding projects will be available. All the projects which are working on will be stored in a master database. Using that master database, we will be creating contextual views use, which will have only particular data that we need to visit. That is the whole concept if you are trying to achieve using this Project Management lecture. Let me just take you through this. Every project. Project asks resources. I'm going to research. What would be the appropriate. Let me click on that one. These sources. This is like a radical. We will have a neat project. We're asked to complete resourcing. He did for the whole project as well. Then we have. A particular area of your investment. Bucket. Next one, investing in list may not have been investing. Investing is a different from us. Projects, tasks and resources, meetings and events, and bug it. Now we have pretty much the boilerplate for everything that we want. Be having okay, great. Nice. The resources. This isn't multiple projects which is not really visit. You want centralize infinitely fast mastered and resources. I wonder how old a meeting with people who have already created YouTube channels and I wanted to learn from them. Meeting with you have finished. First step. Realize what we are going to do here. Going to create project-specific. You go inside the product, must be able to view related to it. If initially needing more resources. The individual project is listed here. This is not the kind of focused view. When someone is walking on a particular project, they wanted to view the things that are related to that project. That is what I'm saying as creating contextual views within dashboard. Now it is time for us to create a dashboard for our project. Our project is aka YouTube. Whenever somebody goes into this, must be able to that are related to this. Very first thing is I want to create, how do you do this? You have database. We have I can YouTube channel page here. Creating a linker death. That is what we're going to use. The first one I wanted, the resources. We need. It related. What do we know? We need to apply? I wanted to view. But it isn't because it will be the default list here to be default index tonight. We have everything we haven't wanted to do here. We need a temp. These things are going to be stamped. Project. That project is going to have result. Text mode. Case. We don't want to be. It can actually doing this is easy. Click on create new template. I'm going to name this as project template that you have. Minute. Taking a bit of it. Feature. A little bit. Great. The project template. This is a nitrate. This is a great way for us. You're already having master databases. Master data. We have centralized information in master database. We have also created contextual views within dashboard. If you have any questions or anything that you have doubt or anything you want to ask, just head out into the comments section and throw your quotient. I'll be very quickly to answer. You will not be back down from asking because some people might be new to this. Some people might be already ahead of this. If you are someone having a question, There's palpable. Bump it up into the comments section. I'll answer. Thank you very much guys. 10. #8 Recurring Tasks: Hello guys. One of the cool things about Notion is that we have the ability to customize, organize our own pages. And we can pretty much do a lot of things using Notion. And the formula property also extends the capability of what we can do with it. So let me tell you this. Now we're gonna deal with recording desk. What is recurring tasks which are to be repeated again in the same way, but we don't have to be bothered by it. Let me tell you how to do that. Sometimes we dealing with that. Do it, you're done. Sometimes you might have to quarterly, something like that. What would you do in those easiest thing is to just keep record. I'm going to show you how to do that using some. First one will be assigned. Show you how to do. If you have 21 good example of how to do. Wanted to. Thank you very much guys. 11. #9 The Mindful Notioner: Hello guys. Welcome to this lecture of mindful users. The title is The Mindful notional. Pretty much says someone who uses notion. Very mindful manner, not really straying away from principles, but yet still experimenting new things with a certain condition. Let me tell you what those are telling you. I'm also going to give you some practical lessons. First one is centralized, textualized, centralizing your information in the master databases and then creating contextual rules as Dashboard. This is the core principle. Because whenever you have this as standard, a core principle in the way you are organizing the information. And it can get to this principle, we'll make it an effect. Because all your information is gathered at one area and you have contextual rules that are going to help you focus. Yes, contextually views will help you focus. That is the most important thing as well. Let me give you an understanding of the project. Each project was asked. Hello, related meetings and even seem principle. If you look into project here, this is a master database. Here we can tasks from all the projects. Here we have resources that are necessary. Tasks to be completed. Project. These are master database. There you have meat. But these are master database. It'll be going to the project. To project textual news things. Only the resources. Meetings are new to this particular project. That is a great example. Information database. Focused. Textual reviews helps a lot. This is a good example for that. Core principle characters too. For anyone trying to create a product. Having all the database will give you project the same time. Great contextual help you focus when textual purpose of a hierarchy, which means less than this hierarchy levels. This is really very critical. Hierarchy exists. Provide sure that your system working within a structure. You have to heat the hierarchy. Let me give you an understanding. Information accurate. You have hierarchy information accurate. Using databases instead of standalone pages. You're using databases across the hierarchies. All the information will be will remain accurate. Mentioned is going to be consistent because whenever a particular area of the data, linked databases we are going to add up to. That particular database will be, the information will be consistent, manageable, which means you can organize your data either through contextual views or an edge it from a master database. Information is pretty much standard. It has a level of a level of confidence when you have described a hierarchy. Is to within your within your system? Yes. It reduces redundancy. Yes. When you have the same kind of helps you to do is it reduces redundancy. The places where you can edit is going to have is going to change it please. Same kind of view. Extra. Them are interlinked. You can actually use linked databases. The context dependency is you have to edit. Distance is average. Or for relational data model, yes, relational data modelling, where you can kiss the areas of project. Each project will have to be perfect. Finished the project accompany can live. You can actually ask, those are going to be at the bottom level. Standards. You maintain. Efficient. Asks me, didn't ask her project which resources? You can actually keeping everything intact. Relational data models are automatically create will automatically create conduction. I could have done earlier. The product. Creating a context. We have contextual resume. Is it decreasing? Going to be easy for you? This is a particular hierarchical view that I'm going to. Workspaces are entirely dependent, dependent workspace as exists at the top is level of hierarchy. These are different areas of your personal and professional anthropic, anxious and answers. And can read some of your content creation process. When you are financials with different, different. Also see researching for YouTube. Spaces are entirely individual pages. Pages are your strategic hierarchy. Here you have two databases. Alone, pages on B. Database. Pages are with pages workspace. After that blocks. These are technically pages, database item pages. These are where your test, everything falls down. Have to have a certain amount of integrity within your system. That is why only three was pretty much this is from Tiago Forte. The number for magic message indicating seems to be the net process. Whenever a system's hierarchy, the limit of four actually becomes a bottleneck. To think too much instead of acting, have to have this kind of, what do we say? Kind of due process system that is going to stick with this for level of hierarchy. Actually related and consistent plus areas. Then make notion yours. You have to be able to customize your notion for yourself. Instead of just simply sticking with what you're putting on the internet, you have to be able to use motion as like writing has to be on your fingertips. You have this level of skill and ability within fashion will be able to make much more free and comfortable using it. Understand this notion is very powerful to each power is only lacked by your ability and then stay nimble. Have to keep it simple. Because a lot of times people will complicate what things to have, has to be done. But eventually it falls down to some simple it is the better it can process and be aware of more T-shaped. Yes, variable t has shown parks and heavier. Share anything you want. You can, depending Within the information, you have to be very careful about what you picked. B should be aware of what those icons. Using icons consistency will give this tendency to look. And this data icons are optional. These things can actually help getting very good capability. There is some kind of graphical interface on using it. Your mind sticks to it. These are things whose icons. Good example would be, here are some I want to use just copy. This will be probably icons.com. Those are freely icons. These are very useful. It doesn't interact with. Action. Animators are not spreadsheets. You have to understand databases. Collection of records. Tyler collection records. Properties are called saying w values. This is a different video. Value. The value you cannot simply something is text. Use it Is not. Have to value what types are always sort your damages always. Reason doesn't mean that you have to have once, but because you have to understand this, don't want to go through tax up, down, going to create a lot of cognitive load. You have to be able to seamlessly go to one after the other. How do you decide which one to go after one after the other? To date already, or energy or impact level up for you to decide which way what we have to use it. That is pretty much about the mind. These principles are pretty much fruit. Motion is not just black and white text. Powerful product to any organization, but everybody indication nor organism, freelance organum. Everybody are using the workflows. It is for you to bandage of this is as advanced as anytime. Thank you very much guys. 12. #10 Prudite Project Management Part 1: Guys, object is a frequency. Obviously like I have using the children. 13. #11 Prudite Project Management Part 2: Guys, let me just restart what I'm saying because this is a very important thing. The first important thing is for us to create a centralized information in master database. That is the one we have missed. Here. I'm going to create search for projects. I'm going to take table there. New. Right now it isn't. We have formulated all the projects. Centralized information database. For example, if I have a task. History, resources for me guys. 14. #12 Prudite Project Management Part 3: Hello guys. Now that we have formed our master databases, it is time for us to create contextual reviews. Let's go ahead and do that. Thank you very much. Let me just adjustment audio filters. Let me go ahead and take what we have here inside content. What I wanted to do here is the very first thing is I want to show I'm going to apply a filter. The resources. This is a nice way. Here. We are only having, these are only going to have values. That is one way to look at this. We do it. Project. Nice. Going to have back. This is done over there. This is the areas of your life. What The ones who focus for older people. Because this is a nice idea. We have blob. Blob, what I'm gonna do it, complete everything that is related to blog. Here. Give it a minute to load up. Because Jeannette are where it is, because of vice, is taking a bit done. How it must see everything is now fog interior. The tricky areas to make sure that we are using falling under way we want it. This is a pretty basic homepage for project. But understanding that we can actually customize displaced once we have taken everything that is necessary to create our tasks and databases, actually creating contextually for them. It's actually going to help us. What we are going to do. This is a nice start for how we want. We can further increase on how to proceed. Right now. This is where we're going to stop because we have learned about how to go through it and then adding effects to it and then create the product. All of this is happening. If I go ahead and add a reason, what will be the reason? The resources will be the resource. Resource will be online resource will fall under Content. See, wait a minute. Just going to blow. Project. Here I can put federal belongs to both content and as well here, don't link content, it will remove the template. Save this. This is how you can actually add anything that is going to happen. One important thing to understand here is you can also create media and create a new view under by D. Customizing it based on your need and use case is actually more important than actually learning any kind of fixed. Understand one thing. You are learning how to use Notion. These frameworks which I have laid out in this lectures, are actually principles which you can use and customize to make sure that your workflow, thus flawless, does flawless and flowing like water. So that you can actually take pride in actually getting the work done rather than doing work for work. Most of the times people will get caught up in work about work rather than work. That the tasks and deadlines, everything will be disrupted and everything falls apart, then all the anxiety starts to kick in. It is really important for you to make sure they fill in these principles which I have laid out in this licorice. There's how to work so that you can actually go ahead and think about things that actually matter. Deployed, upload some other things we also, which will help you actually get some decent amount of credibility within how to develop more notion that right now this is great stuff. Thank you very much guys. This understanding I hope you have learned a lot about let's get ahead. Thank you very much. 15. #13 Project Assignment: Hello guys. Now I'm going to give you the project assignment for our course. When you have learned a lot using Notion, it is very important for you to apply all the principles we have learned and use all the tips and techniques that you have learned within the course. Let us see what is the project assignment. Number one, create a master database, centralizing all the information in that master database. Number two, create contextual views within dashboards. These two points are the core principles of how we have designed a project management workspace within their notions course, you'll be going through the same steps and create a template or page inside notion, which is going to hold these two principles in its workspace and then submit that notion template or page as the project. I hope it is very clear because this is what we have done in the course. But it is very important for you to apply what we have learned and create a project. Try to accomplish this project and submit it as a course assignment. Thank you very much guys.
