Personal Motivation. And what we're going
to look at here is what is motivation now? It's basically a driving
force that plays a role in shaping success
and well being in both your personal and
professional realms. This session is going to look at the benefits of
motivation in both areas. Highlighting how it
fosters goal achievement, enhances your performance,
promotes growth, and improves overall
quality of life. The motivation is the internal or external, or as
it's also known, intrinsic or extrinsic force that drives individuals
to take action, persist in their efforts
and achieve their goals. It's the spark that propels
people to do something, whether it's pursuing a career, improving their health, or
pursuing personal growth. The motivation could come in various sources such
as personal desires, external rewards, or
a sense of purpose. Now first let's look at some intrinsic motivation refers to the internal drive that comes from
within an individual. It involves pursuing a task or goal because it's
inherently rewarding, enjoyable, or aligns with your personal values
and interests. Now let's look at
extrinsic motivation. This, on the other
hand, involves external factors or rewards
that drive behavior. These rewards can
include praise, money recognition, or
avoiding punishment. Even now, let's look at
some general benefits. It fosters a positive mindset. Motivation enables
individuals to maintain an optimistic outlook even in the face of chal***ges. This mindset not only supports personal and
professional growth, but also contributes to
improved mental health. So motivated individuals often display higher energy
levels and vitality. And their enthusiasm for their pursuits
provides them with the drive to overcome fatigue and stay committed
to their goals. Motivation empowers
individuals by giving them a sense of
control over their lives. They recognize that
their actions and choices directly
influence their outcomes, leading to increased
self confidence. Continuous learning
motivated individuals are more open to
learning and adapting. They seek out new
knowledge and experiences, leading to personal development
and broader perspectives. Now let's look at benefits
in your personal life. Motivation fuels the
pursuit of personal goals. Whether it's pursuing
a healthier lifestyle, learning a new skill, or
traveling to new places. Motivated individual
is more likely to take consistent action towards achieving their aspirations. Motivated individuals exhibit greater resilience in
the face of chal***ges. They view setbacks as
opportunities to learn and grow, enabling them to bounce
back from adversity with renewed determination in terms of happiness and fulfillment. Setting and achieving
personal goals leads to a sense
of accomplishment. Contributing to higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction. Motivated individuals often
report a greater sense of purpose and overall well
being and self improvement. This drives individuals to continually seek
self improvement. They actively seek out ways
to develop new skills, expand their knowledge, and
enhance their capabilities. Now let's look at benefits. In a professional life,
motivated employees are more engaged and productive. They approach their tasks with
enthusiasm and dedication, leading to improved
job performance and the achievement of
organizational objectives. Motivation stimulates creative thinking
and problem solving, so we're talking about
innovation here. Motivated professionals are
more likely to come up with innovative ideas contributing to the growth and success
of their organizations. In terms of career advancement, individuals are driven to
excel in their careers. Their dedication and
commitment often leads to increased opportunities
for advancement, recognition and higher
levels of responsibility. Motivation can also improve
teamwork and collaboration. When individuals are motivated, they are more likely
to contribute positively to group dynamics, share ideas, and work
harmoniously with colleagues. Now let's look at how
you get motivated. First off, something simple
called finding your why. This is a phrase that's
often associated with understanding your deeper
purpose on motivation in life. It's about identifying the core reasons
behind your actions, your decisions, and goals. Let's look deeper into this concept, clarifying
your purpose. Why is your reason for
doing what you do? It goes beyond the surface
level goals and tasks and delves into the fundamental purpose that drives
your actions. It's about asking yourself why something is
meaningful to you. Discovering your Y can be a powerful source of motivation. When you know why
you're pursuing a particular goal or dream, it becomes easier to stay
committed and to persevere. Even when faced with chal***ges. Your Y can also help you align your actions with your
values and beliefs. When your goals and actions are in harmony with
your core values, you're more likely to experience a sense of fulfilment
and authenticity. And finding your Y can provide clarity in
decision making. It helps you filter out
distractions and make choices that are in line with
your overarching purpose. Understanding your Y can help you become
more resilient in the face of setbacks when
you encounter obstacles. Your sense of
purpose can help you bounce back and continue
pursuing your goals. And your why can often
connect to your passions. When you're passionate
about what you're doing, you're more likely
to be engaged and enthusiastic about your
work and pursuits. So how do you find your Y? Finding your why is a personal
and introspective process. We'll look at some steps now
to help you discover it. One of these is self reflection. Spending time reflecting
on your life, your experiences,
and the things that bring you joy and satisfaction. What activities make
you feel alive? What issues or causes
deeply resonate with you? Ask why repeatedly. When you identify
a goal or desire, ask yourself why multiple times. For example, if you
want to change careers, ask why you want to do
that, and then ask why. Again, to dig deeper into
the underlying motivations, seek inspiration, read books, listen to talks, or connect
with people who found their why their journeys may inspire you and provide into
your own purpose. Do a values assessment. Consider what values are
most important to you. Your Y is often closely tied to your core values and experiment. Don't be afraid to
try new things and fail exploring different paths. Sometimes your why becomes clearer through actions
and experience. And listen to your gut as well. Pay attention to your
intuition and inner voice. Sometimes your Y is a subtle
feeling that gives you a particular direction
and write it down. Putting your thoughts
on paper can help you clarify and solidify your Y. Keep a journal to document
your reflections and insights. Remember that your Y can evolve over time as you
grow and change. It's not a static point, but it's a guiding
principle that can lead you to a more purposeful
and meaningful life. Now let's look at
something simple, like creating a
motivating environment. Say for example, your workspace. A clutter free and
organized workspace reduces distractions and
promotes a sense of order. It's easier to concentrate and stay motivated in a
tidy environment. Ensure your workspace is comfortable with an
ergonomic chair. Proper lighting and
good ventilation, physical discomfort can
distract from your motivation. Also think about
visual inspiration. Surround yourself with
items that inspire you, such as motivational quotes, pictures of loved ones, or
remind us of your goals. These visuals can boost your
spirits and motivation. Maybe create a vision
board with your images and words representing what your
aspirations actually are. Display it where you can see it daily to reinforce
your motivation. Now let's look at things
like task organization, used to do lists, or
task management apps to prioritize and
organize your work. Crossing off completed tasks provides a sense
of accomplishment, motivating you to tackle more. Monitor your progress
towards your goals. Seeing how far you've come
can boost your motivation to continue and then
minimize distractions. Limit distractions from
smartphones, social media, unnecessary notifications
during work hours. Consider using website blockers
or apps to stay focused. Establish specific
work hours and communicate them to
others in your household to minimize interruptions and
also a healthy environment. Maintain a balanced
diet and stay hydrated. Proper nutrition
provides the energy needed to stay
motivated and focused. Incorporate some form of physical activity
into your routine. Regular exercise
releases endorphins, which can enhance your
mood and motivation. Also surround yourself with supportive and
motivated individuals. Join communities or groups related to your
interests or goals. The encouragement of
like minded people can be a powerful motivator. Find an accountability partner or a mentor who can help you keep on track and keep motivated during those
chal***ging times. Also, continuous learning, make learning materials
easily accessible. Have books, courses, or podcasts related to your interests
readily available, and that can inspire you to expand your knowledge
and skills. Set aside time for skill
development and personal growth. Sense of progress can
be a strong motivator. Link to this as well,
Celebrate your achievements, both small and large. Rewarding yourself for
completing tasks or reaching milestones reinforces positive
behavior and motivation. Reflect on your accomplishments. Regularly acknowledge
your progress, boost your confidence
and your motivation. Another thing as well is
about being adaptable. Motivating environment should be adaptable to your changing
needs and preferences. Be open to modifying
your workspace or routines as necessary
to maintain motivation. By intentionally shaping your physical and
social environments to align with your
goals and motivations, you can create an
atmosphere that constantly inspires you and drives you
to achieve your aspirations. Now let's look at how you
sustain long term motivation. That this can be chal***ging, but with the right
strategies, it's achievable. What I'm going to do now is go through some practical advice to help you maintain
that motivation over a longer period of time. Setting clear and
meaningful goals, define them in specific,
measurable terms. You smart if you need
to make sure that they align with your values and
have personal significance. Meaningful goals provide a strong foundation for
lasting motivation. Divide your long term goals into small and manageable milestones. Achieving these
smaller steps provide a real sense of progress and
keep your motivation high. Create a vision board, as
I've mentioned before, visualize your
long term goals by creating a vision
board using images, words, and symbols that
represent your aspirations. Place it where you see it
regularly to stay inspired. Maintain a growth mindset. Believe that abilities can be developed through
effort and learning. And this perspective helps
you view chal***ges as opportunities for growth,
not as obstacles. Developing positive
habits is a great one. Cultivate habits that
support your goals. When behaviors become automatic, it's easier to stay motivated. Consistency in daily
routines can be a powerful motivator.
Stay accountable. As mentioned before, get
an accountability partner, a mentor, or a coach who
can hold you to account. Regular check ins and discussions
about your progress can help boost your motivation
and track your progress. Keep a journal or use a tracking app to
record your progress. See how far you've come and that can reinforce
your motivation. Reward yourself. Don't
underestimate this one. Set up a reward system
for achieving milestones. Treat yourself to something enjoyable as a way to celebrate your achievements
and stay inspired. Again, surround yourself
with inspiration, books, podcasts,
whatever it might be. Watching documentaries, just have them
relate to your goal. Have them relate to your
motivation and stay inspired. Find a support network. Connect with like
minded individuals who share your
interests or goals. Join clubs, forums
or groups where you can exchange ideas
and encouragement. And then also visualize success. Spend time visualizing yourself achieving your long term goals. Imagine the process, the
chal***ges you'll overcome, and the rewards you'll reap. Visualization can boost
motivation, no end. And then set reminders as well. Use technology to
your advantage. Set reminders on your phone
or computer to prompt you to take action on your
goals on a regular basis. And stay organized links nicely. In with that one, organize your tasks and
times effectively. Use ca***dars to do list task management apps,
whatever it takes, structure your day
and stay on top of your responsibilities
and embrace flexibility. So it may seem it goes
against what I've just said. But be open to the fact that sometimes your plan
may need adjustments. Adapt to changes were keeping your long term vision in
mind and reflect and adjust. Periodically review your
goals and your progress. ****** what's working
and what isn't, and be willing to adjust
your strategies accordingly. And this is where
something like a mentor or a coach can come in handy. Also, don't forget to
practice self care. So we've talked about all
of these great things. But looking after yourself
first and foremost, your physical and
mental well being, adequate West nutrition
and relaxation, They're essential
for maintaining motivation over a
long period of time. And staying persistent. Understand that
motivating can fluctuate. There will be days when you feel less motivated than others, But being persistent means that continually taking small steps, even on low motivation days, helps you achieve your goal. And then celebrate milestones
as well as the end result. Celebrate small milestones
as you go through. They'll help you
achieve your way. They'll recognize your
progress to stay motivated. Okay, so quick summary. Motivation is the
internal drive and desire that propels
individuals to take action, to set and pursue goals, and persist in the
face of chal***ges. It's a complex
psychological phenomenon influenced by both intrinsic
and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic motivation comes from within and is fueled
by your interests, values and the joy
of the task itself. Extrinsic, on the other hand, arises from external factors, or rewards or consequences. Understanding personal
motivation involves recognizing the role of habits, the psychology of rewards the
