1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Stephanie. Yeah. I'm a certified Montessori teacher, three to six. Ever since I gave my Montessori training and seeds for getting the classroom. My knowledge of the work that Maria Montessori be, it has always amazed at the outcome, confidence, peace and joy. They tilt generally in the classrooms. This is why I want to make these scores, because more people need to know about these. We will learn in this course about the basic principles of Maria Montessori. Top principles that will help us better understand the cell and that will help us know how to guide him. Maria Montessori talked about these principles, were 100 years ago. They still apply to us in our days. These are the same principles we need to erase coffee then independent, happy children that will make this world a better one. At the end of this course, who will do a project of observation? Observation is the cornerstone of Maria Montessori school work. And it's an amazing tool that will serve us for the rest of our lives. I hope you feel inspired by the work done Maria Montessori, and that this course will change the way we see and treat children. 2. How Everything Started: Maria Montessori was born on August 31st, 18, 70 in Kiribati, Italy. She was born in a period of great change, political change because Italy was becoming a country and social change because the idea of women's rights was entered Italy. Mario was their only tell and when she was eight, she moved to run with her parents, where she had more educational opportunities. Integration in Rome at that time was consisted of four years of primary school. And then that you wanted to further your studies of you. Or if you had the opportunity, you could just from a classical program. We have literature, Greek, and Latin, and this is what women were expected to do. Or a more technical program where they will study history, science, math, geometry in geography. And Maria Montessori was really, really good at math and she really enjoyed it. So she decided to pursue a technical program. She was the only girl with another one in that program and the boys bully them. And so in order to from them, they give them their own room for recess and lunch. During this time, Maria Montessori decided to go to medical school. Her father did not agree, but her mom was always supported. Her. Montessori tried to enter a medical school and she did not give him the first time that she was persistent and the non-Java until she was in this space. We're not easy for her. She was the only woman in medical school. She was allowing the lectures, but she was not allowed into these sections. So they only, they only time that she could do this human dissections was a night when no one else was there by candlelight. She becomes that one time the smell was so unbearable that she asked field worker to stand next to her while she was doing her the session and smoke. And she said that when this was not possible or it was too hard that she will try to small herself. She also tell us about onetime where she was feeling discouraged and doubting herself and she was going back home from school. And she saw these bigger mother on the street with her hotel. And the little boy was playing with a little strip of colored paper. And he was so engaged and look so happy just doing that. The spark, something special in Medea and then make her pursue her dream and pursue her goals and do not give up. In 18 96, Mariette graduated with honors and she became the first woman to lead to hold a medical doctorate degree. After her graduation, she started her own panic and she also work in a hospital with woman and children. She had any special interests in the pediatric field in 18 97 she also doing the Psychiatric Clinic at the University of Rome. And her work was to go to the acylium and just select some silver ion for study to bring back for a study. The conditions in which these children were were really bad. The caregiver, higher barrier respect for them. Maria said that in one occasion, she told her we discuss how the children, after every meal will throw themselves on the floor and ground. The crown soap, bread, crumbs, soap read my upsert them. And she realized that they weren't eating these crowns. There were molding them with their hands. And she realized that these children are craving type tangible experiences. It was in this moment that she decided to study any work that have been done until then with mentally disabled children. And she came across with the work that Dr. ether and his disciples Sit doctors again. She realized that these children, they shouldn't be in a hospital or an a coelom. They should be in classrooms and they should have a special location for them and they could thrive with that. That was the moment where my Montessori turned her whole courier to a location. She actually came back to. She went back to the University of Rome to study a prevents anything that had been written in any word that have been done about navigation in the last 200 years. Here 1900s at group forum, the sufficient funds to create a school based on Dr. Montessori education, educational principles. My own story, we can decode director and she will train teachers on her makeup of the team. She also they did Carrie herself to study and observe and teach the children. Based on the reactions of the children. She created a setup. Materials, these children extremely well and they achieve skills and no one thought they could ever achieved before. She presented them to the State Exam and her mentally deficient children, the US as well, or even better than normal children. And these maker question the quality of education in schools around this time, Dr. Montessori, she actually had an affair with the Kohl director of that school and she got pregnant and got us and bear a son. They actually had setting not to get married for their own reasons. And during this time, I'm married. Or pregnancy was very bad. And the woman will have had to stay at home and she will have had to give up her whole career. So she made the hard decision to send her songs with some of her family. And she will come and be sinking often. But I'm sure that was a very hard decision to, but we'll see that at the end. Her son, his name is Maria Montessori. He will play a big role. Mimo stories carry it also. He will go with her and stay with her until the last golf her base. So in 1901, she left the orthopedic school and she actually went to the University of Rome to study what's going on with the schools and why, why is the educational system selling in teaching children? 1904 she became, she was named Professor in the University of Rome. But she always hope that she will be able to someday try her method on normal children. The opportunity came three years later. This time children burned role in primary school at seven years old. We spent that children younger than that, we will stay at home. And I loved it on the lysine, on the streets. And so people turn to Maria Montessori for our solution. And on January 6, 1907, the first guess or they can be named, was formed. Meiosis are you always hoped to start the team children in the elementary level, but she was actually excited to also try her method of teaching with these cellular children. Since she was also the teen other universities, she had another woman with her full-time to stay with their children full-time. And it's important to say that this woman, that she higher, she wasn't a teacher and she did this on purpose so that she will not have any precautions. Ids off a location where you want to sorry. Does these children life skills like blowing noses and washing hands and how to take care of their environment. And the parents were amazed by the change that the children had. The parents also beg my Montessori to teach their children to write and read. And even though he walks in her planning, she tried and she created the first sets of language materials. And these cylinder we're writing and reading. And the parents were amaze. They always go for the miracle worker. But she will say, Don't look at me, look at the children, which is an anecdote that I really like about her. During this time and until the end of her life, Maria Montessori dedicated her life to train teachers, to teach, and farther her education to the elementary level, together with her son Matteo Montessori. Just already died on May 6, 1952 in Holland. Her life is a life of inspiration, is the life of not giving up, of really pursuing your dreams and goals. She left a legacy that we must carry on and helping them achieve their full potential. 3. The Human Tendencies: One of the goals of the Montessori approach is to come down there. So micelle will physically and psychologically or roles is to help itself developed independently in his or her environment and become a person at that fifth to his or her time, place of residence, and culture. Maria Montessori set that to a t of these, it is necessary that we studied the nature of men. The same as the Maria, the above human nature. Let her to think that with Venus there is a force that motivate us and guide us. Teeth, different attributes throughout our lives. She called these floors human tendencies. These tendencies we have from the moment that we are born and through our whole lives in relation to human through Mencius, Maria Montessori differentiates between two terms, nature and nurture. From the moment that we are born, we come into the world with the potential to develop certain attributes such as small Ben, language, culture, and personality. This is something that we have by nature and he never changes, doesn't matter, problem off or gender, economic situation, language, etc. On the other hand, nurture is the consequence that we suffer us humans. Depending on different experience that we've had, different sacred circumstances, decisions, places where we have being race, culture, and this is a lifelong process. Nutrition is the mean in which we develop those attributes and we have a nature from birth. The human tendencies are base on the basic needs of human beings, both physically and other ones that are a little bit more spiritual. Maria Montessori named Tan, human tendencies, exploration. Human beings are naturally curious. Curiosity leads to exploration and they need to know and understand and explore through their senses to learn more about the world around them. That is why our role as adults is to provide them with an environment where they can be safe and free to move throughout their space. Orientation is our awareness of where we are in our environment or in a situation. Every child has the need to orient themselves through it. The chalcone now his place in the world. Order. So many information that they tell is observing since birth, they need to make sense of it all. The human tendency of order helps me tell, begin to get the grace and organize all of this information. And he's mine. E.g. green, yellow and blue are colors. By doing this, they are coming to understand their environment. Activity, manipulation and work. Children have the desire to work into unequally babies with everything in their mouth and one to everything that is within their reach. They are exploring the texture, taste, temperature, the shape of those objects. This is the way they are receiving information from there. There are thickening the information that is building their intelligence. It is only when we perform a task that we truly understand that repetition. Think about when itself first learned to block. They are persistent and do not give up no matter how many things they fall. They practice and practice until their muscles game this string to be able to spend and actually walk by itself first learn the fundamental skills before they can acquire speed, increase confidence, and mastery. This is done through repetition. It is to repetition the possibility becomes ability of addition also satisfy some inner need that the child may have. Dr. Maria Montessori recounted a story of a three-year-old student who was deeply absorb enough would've blog activity, she says, and I quote, once they tell without interrupting her and counted how many times she will do her work over and over. It seemed that she was never going to stop. I invited the other so then to sing. But the Leto Bureau and went on with their work and continue. Even after the scene had sees, I come to 44 different exercises which she made when she finally stopped and deeds. So absolutely independently from an exterior costs, they could disturb her. She looked around with an expression of great satisfaction as if she were with being from a deep and restful sleep. Accuracy and precision is the energy that help us be more effective and precise interactions. At t, This quantity is through practice. When you see a young toddler a trend to drink water from an open cup. At first, water goes everywhere but his mouth. But as he practices and repeats over and over again, his movements become more precise and control until he's able to bring successfully from a cup with our spleen in water. Perfection is the feeling of wanting to improve an activity that we know we can perfect. Perfection comes as a result of exploring, manipulating, and repeating, learning experience that deep sense of satisfaction and joy when they are allowed to work until they haven't achieved what they feel is perfection. Abstraction refers to the ability to transport a person, place, or thing that is concrete into an abstract thought. At the beginning, they sell only starts by observing things that are in his environment. Later he will be able to imagine those objects are around him without having them in front of him in the Montessori classroom when Intel is around three years of age, we use materials that help us understand difficult concepts like quantity in a concrete way. When it gets older, we use more abstract materials that support that concrete knowledge that they already have. Imagination is the ability we have to create form, and modify concepts within the mind. My donation does not develop in itself under three years of age. In fact, during the first plane of development, which we will talk about more in the next segment. Imagination is based on the experiences that they tell has had and what he has seen. Later on, he won't be able to have a more creative imagination. Communication is the ability to understand as well as to the other soup is the way we express ourselves as individuals must remember that verbal communication is as important as nonverbal communication. As you can see, all these human tendencies are interrelated and they work together. We all have them naturally from birth or dealt with adults is to nurture this human tendencies in the towel in a way that will help them adapt and dragging his environment. 4. The Four Planes of Development: Montessori believed in the development of itself or the firm faces. Thanks to her scientific studies, she had a great deal of knowledge about the physical and psychological development of the Tao. Also her many trips abroad where source of our in-groups framing her theory on the different planes of development we go. She was able to see and witness different children from different backgrounds and economic situation, different language, home. She found this universal foundation in their development. And she called these different planes, therefore planes on development. The first plane of development goes 0-6 years old. This is a stage in which the child will experience the greatest transformations. He goes from being immobile newborn to this towel that was acquired. Language has perfected his movements, has to make social connections. Marie Montessori device the space into two sub phases. The first one goes 0-3 years old. In this one it's cell acquires language, he has more control over his movements. He grows so much physically. But the most important characteristic of these surface is the use of a server mine. He is able to retain all kinds of information without effort, without any choice. Everything goes in good or bad. In this case they are, so mine is acting unconsciously. The second sub phase goes 3-6 years old. And in this stage, the child, as a reminder, is acting consciously. They tell is able to choose what information he lived into his mind or not. In this state, he also starts to order and categorize all the inversions and experiences he received his daily thanks to views, human tendency for order. This is an important time for the tail because he will start to perfect his body movements and he will learn more vocabulary to reach his language. As adults, it is very important that we give to tell an environment in which he can thrive physically and psychologically. Also, in this state, social relationships are very important for the cell and will help him create these personality. The thinking fan of the element goes 6-12 years old. In this stage, we do not see this huge transformation, changes that we saw in itself in the first Glenn. These teams are more subtle and more constant. In this stage, the child is more carefully to see him and his friends and he feels comfortable creating a social group. He's also, he also doesn't need as much attention from his bearings. So he's becoming a little bit more independent in that way. Also, Maria Montessori said that learning this stage have a strong sense, sense for justice and empathy towards others. So it is good to include children in volunteering activities so that they can see the positive impact that they can have, their environment and society. On the other hand, Tillman, imagination and intelligent in these states is highly developed. So it is still incurred that they worked with their hands to maintain the concentration in whatever work they are doing. The best environment for these children goes beyond the walls of the classroom. They need to be outside exploring and also being nurtured by others who specialized in a particular task. The third plan of the Bowman goes 12-18 years old. This is such a huge state of transformation and change that Maria call the rebirth xi divided into two sub phases. The first one goes 12-15 years old. And in these ages is where the biggest physical and mental changes occurred. There's ecological bar of the students is also imbalanced and that creates feelings of insecurity, doubt, and disappointment. This adolescents also have a strong feeling to have other cultures and they're very empathetic. They also want to express their thoughts and emotions through works like graffiti, music, art. And Maria Montessori said that the best environment for these students will be out in nature. And he suggested that it will be the best will be to work in a pharmacy school, 15-18 years old. That the lesson we'll begin to consolidate his personality and his goals in life regarding studies more than anything else, the work environment, and we'll be back in the classrooms. And the students will be much more compared to the more intellectual work. Your Montessori also said that these students should be prepared to face already a college level education. And the last and forth plaintiff development goes 18-24 years old. This is a States in weights, very important decisions are made, or students to walk path, they're going to take in their lives. And also how to become self-sufficient in every way. 5. The Absorbent Mind: Dr. Maria Montessori was a revolutionary off her time during the 19th century, the general societal thinking was it certainly had no capacity to learn. The maria Montessori proved this accusation false. With her studies, she explained the difference between our brain and the brain of children being there's much more powerful and with a greater capacity to retain information. She also explain how the experiences that children have when they're dumb, not also enter their minds, but also for me, creating their own individuals. So why is that so remind is a period of intense mental activity from birth to six years old in which the topics, everything from his environment and good or bad that will create him. This states the maria Montessori called the also remind, can be divided into two parts. They're conscious mind and the conscious mind. This is why we talked about in the first plane of development. The conscious mind goes 0-3 years old. This is a state in which to tell us going to take everything that he came from, his environment and he's going to do it in an unconscious way. They're serving mine is working unconsciously because it's all going to take a tremendous amount of information. He's beginning. Experiences, culture, language, smell, taste. I do. A lot is thinking everything and all these information that is sticking him by his surroundings. Surroundings is going to create the person that he's going to be. Maria Montessori calls this phenomenon incarnation, which means new Tau. So the information that is coming into the cell and how it's coming into hotel is going to create hotel is going to be our powerful of servers. Children are immobile for quite a long time. You have served on newborn. They are still in Cannes more for awhile. Maria Montessori said that they tell myself, serve and be still too big in everything from his environment. He needs this to be able to take in all the impressions from around him. The second phase is the conscious mind, and it goes 3-6 years old. And I don't want you to take a moment and think about your earliest memory that you have. Think about how old were you? Probably know younger than three. And this is because they are sort of in mind. The age of three becomes conscious and then makes recalling memories possible. These states that cell is organizing and categorizing all the information that he has and that will keep helping him creating, creating his own person. But the most important thing about this stage is that the child starts to use his hands as an instrument to get to know the world. And this is going to make his learning goal from unconscious to conscious. Maria Montessori me an explanation of the characteristics so they're still remain there. The following nondiscriminatory, it lets all the information that is received, whether it's good or bad. Global, regional focus your attention on one thing in particular, alright, able to look at the whole picture, being able to look at the smallest details, unconscious for the most part. They don't pick up information even when they are not paying attention. Universal, it occurs to all children regardless where they come from, works adversely and without tiring their server mind. Never tires. E, works naturally. Creative. It's goal is to create an individual adapted to freeze time and place in the world. Than that make it encourages the child to seek knowledge and still only from his environment. Maria Montessori also recalls the creations of the absorbing light in this way. Language they tell will learn whatever language he's surrounded by. By the age of four, he will be able to speak his mother tongue with almost no difficulty. Morph men as children grow and develop, their movements, become more and more coordinated. Maria Montessori states that it's child has an inner energy that drives them to move, which she calls harm. As teachers, we're in charge of providing the towel with a suitable environment in which he can move smoothly. Culture, they tell us who he is because of his circumstances and Coulter in which he listened and he is surrounded by HE them to d, The Tyler Bowles and understanding of his relationship to his environment and his place in the world. Order. The cell begins to weave together the nullity us gain and categorize it. Memory. Myalgias are the things that all done. You wants to know how many memories become a powerful memory then works and consciously, when she calls Mamie, this type of memory is what allows us to create language, is at the age of three, the design has a conscious memory. Studies conducted by Maria Montessori teaches us that the age in which the greatest mental connections are made at the age of three. Today's scientists affirm these. Adam that 70-80% of these mental connections in a person's life that h, Knowing this, we must consider are oxygens. As adults, we must make the best environment for our children to grow and develop. And also not getting their way of learning. Only providing help when needed. 6. The Sensitive Periods: My own to recognize that there are different stages of development in children. Each of these stages are important because they help the child gain different skills that he needs. She called these stages are sensitive periods. We find period as a time where the TA can take whatever he needs from the environment and incorporate it into his person. These goods are transitory, meaning that once they're gone, they're gone forever and universal. Every human being experienced them. The work that it took them though during this time, during these periods happens in naturally some internal need that It's all right Montessori named for sensitive periods. My first one is the sensitive period for language and goes from birth to six years old, is the longest and most visible period of birth. Babies are attracted to the human voice. They all serve different names and words of their language. At six months, they begin to get at around ten months to one year. This sensitivity changes from cells towards, well, they're two years old itself starts to expand their vocabulary and sounds and more refined by the agency for this. So you've seen grammar and syntax in their vocabulary and by the age of six, their mother tongue is foreign. After this point, it will be really hard for them to learn another language. It will be, won't be as easy as it was during this state. And this is because the sensitive period for which ends at six years old, as you can tell, my mother tongue is not English, is actually Spanish. And even though I didn't learn anyone else, they don't. I can still speak it. But I know that if health hover on it and what else leave it until the age of six, it will be much easier for me and I will color, it will be more and rich, and also my pronunciation will have been better. As adults. We can help them by using appropriate and correct language and by pronouncing well in theory, it is also very important to read to them during this stage, the sensitive period for order goes from birth to four-and-a-half years old or even two. Sorry, I realized that children have a need for order. These need for order is different from us, from the adults. For us is more for comfort. For appearance is something external. For children, is something more internal. Or there are helps them relate to their environment. And it also fulfills the need for orientation and identity. This sensitive period for order, it is also very visible. We can see it manifests in a towel as soon as a few months old, e.g. when their routine is disrupted and they're having a hard time coming back to normal. Children need these sensitive periods for order to organize and categorize all the vast information they receive for their mind. And this helped them make sense of the world around them. Maria Montessori identified two types of border in itself, external and internal. External order means the relationship between objects in the environment, a place for everything and everything in its place. I want this area becomes a time where this term came in. And she put an umbrella on the table in itself was there. And she started to throw a fit. She was so upset and she was crying and crying. And they couldn't figure out what was going on until they realized that it was because of their umbrella. Umbrellas don't go on the table. This tells himself, or there was disrupted their relationship. She created with the object, with the umbrella. And then by environment, what's disrupted. And so we can see millions of examples in children like these. Internal order refers to the child's awareness of their own body. They tell discovers that his own body can have an impact on his environment. He spoke man as a telecom tools his body better. He can now begin to explore his environment more and more. He then becomes aware of what hispanic can and cannot do. As adults. We can help them by teaching them where things go, but also being consistent are putting things where they are. And also we can create a safe environment for them. Freely move to get to know their own body and their environment. This sensitive period for movement goes from birth to four-and-a-half years old. Maria Montessori then defined the development of balance as one of the first to develop, as well as hand control. The development of bonds happens in stages. Firstly, it has to sit up. Then they roll on the floor, then they stand up, and then they take their first steps. Lungs, they can walk. Their hands are free to manipulate things and explore. Or hands are what allows us to come into contact with everything in our environment. It is not until two-and-a-half, four-and-a-half years old, they gain more control of their movements. And by the time that they are four-and-a-half years old, they are in full control of their body. And this is why this sensitive period of movement fades away. The last one is a sensitive period for the refinement of the sensory perceptions. This sensitive period goes from birth to 4.5 and involves all the sentences. Ever since birth, we explore the role with our senses. This is why we see children putting things in their mouth. Is there a way of exploring and learning qualities about that object? A doll experiments with the object in his environment. He says, serving all the qualities of that object, even the smallest and the most. And notice the deals when working with itself. I'm sure you've noticed that they sell many, many times to see things on the floor ends, little frogs. And this is one of the many manifestations of the sensitive period from the age of two-and-a-half to four-and-a-half. Children will refine these senses. Sorting things they learn into more specific categories, like colors, smell, taste, texture, temperature, sound, so that they can be linked to the objects are being explored. Borges Maria Montessori created sensory materials to organize this information and to also give the child the respective vocabulary. Maria Montessori states that itself will learn more skills and learn faster. When integration is revolved around these sensitive periods. As adults, we must observe itself to see in which sends a big area hears it. And he can be in more than one at the same time. One way we can see this is that they'll be drawn to an activity more than other. And when he's done, he will be satisfied and with a feeling of relaxation. When these sensitive periods are starting to fade out, they tell us willpower will be very important in their life. Like I said before, these sensitive periods are transitory, which means that when once they're gone, they're gone forever. But that doesn't mean the child hasn't learned a language by the age of six, will not learn it ever. That just means that it will take more effort on his part and more willpower. 7. The Prepared Environment: Children's needs can be met by an environment that is well-prepared to meet those needs. Maria Montessori investigative what cylinders needs are and what environments are best to serve those needs. Irrigation should begin by creating these types of environments and removing any obstacles for Mattel, the first environment for the tail is his or her home. And you think about a, a home is the sign for adults. The furniture and appliance, they're big and they're out of reach of children. This is why it's so important to prepare an environment for them, an environment that will support their mind, that will think consideration. There are sensitive periods and that will support their development. The Montessori educational environment is composed of three elements. He took them very important and indispensable. First of all, the children. The children in the classroom has similar needs and mental capacities to be able to well to the activities that are carried out. Second, the physical environment. Everything in the environment has a purpose. I feel like the Montessori method falls below the concept of minimalism in that way. And third, the adult which is train, it's trained in the Montessori method, and it's in charge of linking the children to their environment. These three elements of the triangle have the same importance and they knew one another to be able to have an authentic and effective educational experience, the environment we create in a Montessori classroom. Man of peace and protection. Maria Montessori describes some of the characteristics of this environment in the children's house. Beautiful. It is very visually pleasing, which inspires and tell to respect the environment. Beauty in the school inspires activity. We use wood and natural materials. Clean, remove anything unnecessarily from the environment. Organized the classroom in a way that facilitates muffin and avoid distractions, sufficient space, space for children to move freely into all materials without any problem or disturbing their classmates. Tell size furniture. All classroom furniture should we tell size? The purpose of these is so that they can be more independent. Reality base, we must expose her children to reality. We use real objects. This helps the children refine their movements connected to nature. Today's children are so close off to technology, but they may not have as much contact with nature anymore. By putting animals and plants in our classroom, we instill in its children a sense of responsibility. When I was doing my Montessori training, I work as an assistant in our elementary classroom. And the children, Alice, her birth and a fish. And they were responsible to take care of them. They're responsible to feed them, to clean them, intubate them. Practical arrangement, how to specific places for basic daily activities, such as taking shoes off, setting the table. Art board then is to try change of clothes. All of these places should be accessible to the tell. When we're preparing environment in this way, you're maximizing the learning, independence and exploration of it's tough. 8. The Importance of Observation: The cornerstone of the Montessori method is observation. But you are serving the cell. We become aware of his sneeze and in this way, Here's the one guiding us in how and why to the team. In order to meet those needs. We can define the war observation as looking with a mind that is not influenced by other ideas jumped men's or expectations. This will require a transformation in us, in the adults, seeing their children for who they really are. It's also important to look at each tau from our first start. It stay regardless of what happened the day before. And to really neutral with all of our students. We must also be careful of gentlemen as we can pass it to the tiller and they can be a negative impact for them. Maria Montessori also talks about the importance of having a balance between objective and subjective observation. Objective observation alone is very cool. This is why we also need to observe subjectively. However, if we also only subject, hopefully, we can be carried out by our feelings and they can also have an impact on our observations. This is why we're advice to give on an observation journal so that we can write down both are objective and subjective thoughts and ideas. And then we can take advantage of both. Bedroom observation has two main purposes. The first one is to get to know the needs of itself, to know how to better help them. The second one is to remove any obstacles possible for the benefit of the cells that Belbin, as we can see, everything we do in the classroom is tell center. Tell. My Montessori spoke of some practical aspect of observation that we should keep in mind. These are our in assaultive whole group. Even aware of serving one particular hotel, we must realize what's going on in the room with the rest of the group. Observation of the environment. The adult is responsible for the environment. So we must also serve their environment. They cleanliness, the shelves, they materials, use, et cetera. Montane patients, we must have the ability to wait. Let the children experience their own pity moments in which they can discover for themselves. Let them solve their own problems. Absurd, the beginning of things routine such as when children first start working or when they're first open their lunch bag, these simple activities can help us find out and now they tell better and what are the specific needs of surf the following presentations. The same time, it is also important to notice the beginning of an activity that also serve happens after. So in the Montessori classroom, we will teach Ellison to upsell, and then after that, we will disappear and observe that cell and see what he does with that activity. If he's focused, if he's interested, UTC has so that we can better help them after an observation journal, if it's important to write down everything there'll be observed. Every detail is important. It will teach us more about the children and how to better help them. I'll serve the changes in the child, both emotional and physical. By assigning these observations of the children, we will be more prepared to better respond to each case. Active and passive observation. These two types of observation are equally important. Active observation is when they tell ME adult are in direct contact, e.g. during a presentation. Motivation is when it's on the adult are not interrupting therapy. In this case, the adult will see on a tear it close to the area where the tail is located. And without causing too much attention, he will do the observation by taking notes. In history, the reason and motivation through which the observation is carried out is to get to know a little better and to get to know us better. After all, the purpose observation is not too big, subtle, but to perfect or understanding of him. 9. The Montessori Guide: The teacher in an underserved classroom plays the role of facilitator of knowledge. The adult is responsible to guide, it tells us to normalization, which is their ability to concentrate and to work freely in his environment. As adults, we must always also studied ourselves. We must see what are our strengths and weaknesses. And this takes a lot of humidity in our par. Or eagle has gone down so that we can better help the tail and Guy him. Maria Montessori, thoughts about two effects that are most prevalent in us as adults. And anger. We tend to depths the town too quickly without stopping and seeing what he breathes doing, we must cultivate the habit of stopping and are serving me tell reformed dumping in punishing them. Marianne Montessori said that it's important to use our imagination to see the potential of these children and to see them for what they can become. If we serve itself in this way with humility, this will increase their respect towards us. As adults, we are the example of itself looks up to. They will absorb and reflect everything we do. We must pay attention to your actions so that we can be there Example for them. On occasion, a teacher told me of an experience she had in her classroom. She said that one day she realized that the children were thinking offer. She was in the glass and she didn't know why and he was driving her crazy until she realized that when she will come to the classroom and see them hurt, she was taking her shoes off herself, but she didn't even realize until that moment. So the children were just imitating her. This is a great example to see how our actions can reflect in the children's actions. And then we should always mobility of good behavior for them. The Montessori guy is sometimes also called the Dynamic Link. He's in charge of the brand, their environment, and connecting it to the town. We do this through observations. The observations that we do help us to know what activities are best friends. Chow, also ration is the central point of Maria Montessori work. She said that it is important to look at It's Chow from a neutral point without prejudice. And this is the hardest part of our work. Observation is a skill that we cannot learn in a few weeks. This is killed the new learned through a lifetime of Putin. As the adults we must care for HR, must make every tell feel comfortable coming to us to ask us questions and to make them feel that they can come to us for support. But always doing this with us and some dignity and respect. But above all, we must give the child the opportunity to choose actin, think for themselves. We are accompanied them in this experience. 10. The Project: Now that you have earlier case, they want to serve fundamentals. You know how important observation is. Like I said before, observation is the cornerstone of Maria Montessori sport is where everything started. So of course, our product is going to eat your surgery. We talked about ulceration journals. Observation journals are a great tool to record your observations. I actually have made a few observation journals. This is one of them. You're interested the link in the description of the video. But essentially in your germinal, you want to write it on the dog here. Some good degree. So you will write date, start time, whether blades. And you can also write move because all of these things have an impact on your observation. And then on the button up the rest of the page, you are going to do two columns, one for time and another one for your observation. We like to have the two columns all the time and also vision together so that we know a lot of time each observation happen. Normally if I see something new in the object or person that I'm observing, I will write any time and then I will write the observation right next to it. So I know exactly when that happened. The assignment will be to do two observations. The first one will be till serve an object for 10 min. And the second one will be to serve as a living thing for term limits, that can be an animal, a plant, a person. And after you do this, I invite you to go to the private section and to leave a comment saying, what are those two things that you observe? And what have you learned about observation, but you didn't know before. You're free to write everything that comes into your mind, you can even draw a picture of whatever throughout Surry, anything that will give you new information is good. I know it may seem like a lot of time observing an object, e.g. for thin whole minutes, but you'll be surprised how many things you can say about it. I remember my first observation. I was also really a treat. And I was a little bit skeptical on how many things I could say about the street. But I, to my surprise, I found myself writing nonstop. Maybe go to a park or somewhere where you can be major and I'll certainly things around you. All starvation is a good opportunity for us to start, to slow down, to be aware, to concentrate in one single task. In today's world, I feel like that's something that we've barely do anymore. And it takes practice. Observation is a skill or her lifetime. We become better at it the more we do it. I would love to read. Wendy chose to serve, and why are some things that we learn about observation. So please make sure you share that in a glass previous section. 11. Final Thoughts: Thank you for doing these scores. I agree. Called the uterine and a little bit more about the fundamental principles them every month disorder and that they inspire you. And then you can implement them in your life. Whether you are a parent or grandparent, it doesn't matter. These are principles that can be useful for everyone. I am excited to hear about your observation. And if you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments. I look forward to talking to each and every one of you.
