1. Trailer: Sometimes it only takes one single presentation, visual illustration to get that new job doing that new customer, to convince your supervisors or colleagues about your proposal. There are many icebreaker moments in our life. Most of them has to do something with visually showing your idea proposal inside. In our digital age, it's just second nature to be able to visualize it professionally out of your pocket from your smartphone if you like. In this class, I will teach you modern type of zooming presentation template that you can easily learn and apply right away without necessary background knowledge. You only need the latest PowerPoint version for this. And nothing more but learned is easy but powerful template within minutes. And make that next big move in your career with your new visual skills. I will see you in class. 2. First slide, master slide overview: Let's say your PowerPoint presentation is a website. This slide is the homepage of that website. The clickable icons are the menu bar and you have five subpages. First step, you have to open the selection pane in order to always have an overview of your slide. Go to Home tab, arrange, and then selection pane. This is like an area in Photoshop where you see exactly which item located, exactly where which layer covers another layer and so on. Have a basic understanding of layout. Here we have two rectangles in the background. Both of them have a little transparency. As you can see. You have the title and five groups. Groups, meaning that the icon, the title of the icon, and the little description are grouped together. If you want to change them later, you should keep the same grouping. Next important thing before we start is the Slide Master. Go to View tab and click on Slide Master. Here you see all the pre-built slide layouts. You basically just have to copy paste, not entirely, but that's the only thing you have to do. And change the text so that you keep the consistent look and feel. There are some items that you can only edit within the Slide Master view, like the title of your content. It's a simple template, but you have enough choices to visualize your content. To close the Slide Master, you have to click here and it's closed. You are back now in the normal view. Now that you have an overview of your homepage slide, we move on with the entry effects. 3. Background picture: As you have seen in a trailer already, there is a building in the background. Let's find a picture and insert it to our slide. Go to Insert tab, click on pictures and stock images. This is an amazing feature from PowerPoint, which is not new at all. By the way, here you can find many beautiful, high-quality pictures, completely royalty free. So you can do with these pictures, whatever you want. Also for business purposes and no need to give credit to anybody. How cool is that? A little hint for the advanced users. If you click on cut out pictures, you find wide range of photorealistic characters with different positions. But this is the topic for this course. So let's get back to the pictures. You find here, very useful categories like this one here. And then within that key word, you find many related pictures. We are looking for a building picture. So let's type in building. You see, we have many options, but we need one specific picture. Let's see, here it is. Click on it and insert. As you see, the picture size is not the same as the size of our slide. To be sure, you can go to the Design tab. Then click on the slide size. And here you see widescreen 169. Now these all modern presentations have the 1609 aspect ratio. So we have to crop our picture first. Click on the picture, then go to picture format. Click on Crop. Go to Aspect Ratio. Down there, select 16, 9. Now just click away outside of the picture. And there you have the aspect ratio. Now you have to enlarge it to create the exact size of the slide. And for that, Let's open a new slide. Click under the slide and just hit under, delete everything from the second slide. Go back to slide one, cut the picture and paste it to slide number 2. And now you can be 100 percent precise. You see the little red lines as well as our guiding you. But the surest way is to click on the picture, then go to the Home tab and click on Arrange. Then click on Align Left, then align top. And now you just have to click and drag the right corner below until you see it fits perfectly. Click on the picture and cut it by Control X. Go back to the first slide and based it by Control V. Again, you have to align it perfectly. So go again to the Home tab, arrange again and do the same. Alike left. Then align tough. Now you only have to send the picture back, so it will be behind all other pictures and shapes. Right-click on the picture and click on Send to Back. Or you can also do the same in the selection pane. Just drag and drop the item there. Now, delete the empty slide. And now we have this nice background picture. 4. Setting up the morph transition and entry animation: In this class we will create that nice motion design effect at the beginning. This is called the Morph transition, which is a big-time game-changer feature in PowerPoint since 2016. I personally love it. Here's how it works. First, you always have to duplicate the slide where you want to see the more transition. Click on the slide and click on Control D. That's the shortcut for duplication. Duplicate and click on the first slide, we will make adjustments here. Select all the objects down here. So this rectangle and the five groups. One hand, if you move the selected objects manually, you might make mistakes. And then you have to fix that. In order to prevent that, you can hold Shift button and only then move the selected items with your mouse. That way it stays in one line. Why you're moving it. Now you only select the five groups and just click and keep clicking the down arrow button. After then just hold Control and click Always On the first in the line like this. By this MOOC, you deselect the first group, but the rest still stay selected. Of course, you could do it one by one, but that's not effective. Let's save some valuable seconds this way. As always, you can test the adjustments here by clicking on this star icon. This is the play animations preview trigger. Now we have to do something with the title. I will rewrite it, let's say make it real. I adjust the font size a little bit and align it to the middle. I will add an animation for this one. Click on the text box and go to animations. Open up this step and click on More entrance effects. If you drag this little window to the left and click on different effects, you can preview them from here how they work. Some of them are not really nice, but most of them are useful. I like to float up, for instance. And now if we preview again the Morph transition, you see a weird thing happens to title. It's a good example for the more transition because it only happens between two identical objects. And by rewriting and changing even just one single character that made the two textbooks is not identical anymore. So to keep the Morph transition for this textbox, I have to copy paste it, Control C and then Control V on the first slide. And the same action as before. Just move it upwards and let's preview it. In this case, red and the slideshow. Yes, looks nice. You remember from the trailer and it looked a little bit brighter at the beginning. The reason for that is the different overlay that you see here. And here it's getting more complex with the morphing transition because you can also play with color transitions. You see that this object is filled with a gradient colors, meaning the combination of two or more colors. Right-click on the shape. Then you have to adjust the transparency of both colors. Click on the color on the left and adjust the transparency to 90. Click on the right color and adjusted to about 80%. All right, it's getting interesting. Preview it now. And you see significantly that there is a color transition to very nice. To make zooming out effect from the sky, you have to enlarge the background picture. For this, you will need to open the selection pane just as before. Go to Home tab, arrange, and click on selection pane. Now you have to scroll down and click on the picture. Click on this corner of the picture and drag it until the size of the slide sees only this guy. And now preview it. And you see this beautiful Zooming out, perfect. Great. We are ready with the entry effects. In the coming lessons, we move on with the further zooming functions. 5. Creating section zoom slides (chapters): This is the most exciting part when we create a clickable zoom buttons on our main slide. First, we have to create a kind of table of content for PowerPoint. We add sections. Go here under the second slide. Right-click and add section. Type in topic one. Up here. It's not so important, but to be precise, rename it to overview. Then add four sections and the name them correctly as Topic 2, 3, 4, and 5. Once you are done with adding the sections, let's click here right below Topic 1. Hit Enter three times, and click on the first slide within Topic 1. Now remember from the first lesson, as I showed you the master slide view. Here we only practice first together, but after Dan, It's up to you which layout you choose and how you edit that. Now, Home tab and click on Layout. Here you see all the pre-built layouts. Let's use the two basic slides. The half decks, half picture, one, both sides. So we add this one too. And as a third one, we add an only text slide. Now go back to the first slide of this section. Add a rectangle. Click on the rectangle, and texts in number one. Change the color to white and enlarge the number like this. You will see later why it's important. Now, select all three slides. Hold Control button and click on them one by one, copy them. And by Control C, click under every other topics and paste them one by one. By clicking always Control V. Once you're ready to each topics, override the numbers according to their topic number. And here comes the moment of truth. Click on the overview slide, then click on the title of the section, Topic 1. But in a way that you keep holding the left mouse button. Why you keep holding it? Drag it gently to the overview slide, just like that. And you just created a Zoom slide more precisely as Section Zoom slide. Quick on this slide, as you see, it looks like a picture and it also behaves like that. But it's a slight within the slide. Up here, you see that PowerPoint generated a new tab for this slide. You only see this tab if you click on the Zoom slide, click on it, and now you have many adjustment possible. It is only for this Zoom slide. How cool is that? And why you clicked on it. Powerpoint also generated a little index number down here. This implies to the number of slides that this Zoom slide includes. Namely this is not just one slide, but a group of slides, precisely the slide number 3, 4, and 5. So exactly the slides of this section. And now do the same for the other topics. Or we'd other words, the chapters. Well them. In the coming lessons, we will adjust and modify these slides. 6. Adjusting the section zoom slides: Let's see from the slide show how this works. You see that these are now clickable items on the slide. Now we have to make them look nice and place them exactly within these circles. Within circles here. Select all of them, hold Control button and click on them one by one. Let's move them here so that you can focus in the first one. Click on the corner here, hold the left mouse button and resize it like this. Don't forget, all the five zoom slides have to stay selected while you are doing so. Now all slides have the same size, so you can do the rest manually. And this is the moment when you see why was it so important to label them like this? You can make sure Which slide belongs where and no need to search back and forth. Just place all of them gently within the circle. There is one more adjustment that we can do all at once. Select all of them. Again. Go to Zoom tab, click on Zoom border and click No Outline. Nice. Now we have to create a transparent picture before we move on. Add a rectangle shape, resize it exactly to the slide size. Again to be always save Home tab, arrange, align, then align left and align top. Then grab the corner and pull it down until it fits the slide size. Now right-click on the Shape, Format Shape, go to transparency and make it a 100 percent transparent. Right-click again, Save As picture and just save it on your desktop and name it transparent. And don't forget to delete this transparent shape. We will not need this anymore. Now click on the first zoom Slide. Zoom tab, click on Change image, then click from file. Go to your desktop and insert the transplant picture that you just made. This one, you have to do it manually step-by-step. You cannot do it by selecting them all. Unfortunately. Now, it's getting very nice. Go to slideshow. You made all the Zoom slides transparent so I'm visible, but they are still there. Of course, if you hover your cursor over the Zoom slide, you see it changes The signed it over here, there is a clickable item. You can just click on it and it beautiful zooms into that slide. Very nice. Important things about the navigation. As it's not dynamic way of presenting anymore, not a linear step-by-step, one after another order. You have to understand first how it works. Let's say you start at the second topic, you click and zoom in. You can forward as always, by right arrow or simply mouse-click. This is the first slide of this section. The second and the third. Once you reached the third. So the last slide of this section powerpoint will zoom out. Same thing happens backwards. Zoom in again, right arrow. You go forward and now move back by left arrow and click left again, and it zooms back again. Now zooming again. And the great thing is here that you don't have to click through section forwards or backwards all the time. You can zoom out at anytime at any slide you want. Just click Shift and left arrow. Then it zooms out right away. Beautiful. Let's just try here to zoom in second slide and Shift Left Arrow. And it zooms out again. Just make sure that this is always checked here. You find it by clicking on the Zoom slide, then zoom tab, and over here. But don't worry, this is always an automatic setup. So it's always checked first by default. Now, delete all the number as you don't need them anymore. And now we're all set. We just have to adjust the content slides. We will do that in the next lesson. 7. Adding content to your slides: Adding content to your slides is very easy. You just have to keep in mind some principles. Try to follow the template guidelines and do not use more text as advised. This might be hard sometimes, but try to make it shorter. The shorter, the better. Here, you cannot use more than two lines, otherwise you break the harmony of the layout. Seems like a tiny thing, but your eyes will feel automatically that there is something more than needed. Obviously, you have to add your presentation title or your logo here if you like. Remember, go to View tab. Click on Slide Master. You see here two main slides. This and that one. If you change it here, it will automatically change in the sub, sub slides to click on Close Master View and you are back again. Page number is not really important. It's up to you for most people is just too strong old habit that they feel naked without page numbers. So you have this option two. I tried to communicate better with pictures and nice, well-fitting picture can really breath life into your content. This is an image placeholder. You can click on it. You can click on this icon over here. Then you can insert pictures simply locally from your computer. The easier way is make sure you are on the slide where you want to add the picture. Then just go to insert pictures and stock images. This is exactly the same as we added pictures at the beginning of this course. But now if you click on insert, PowerPoint will automatically inserted to the image placeholder. And we'll also adjust the size accordingly, which really saves a lot of time for you. You see, it looks nice. Let's add a title like this is the new way of doing experiments. As you see, it looks already weird that it's more than two lines. But here you can still correct it. Just click here and pull it to the right. Of course, there is text limitation, but for such title, you can still do that. Same here. Let's add another dummy text. Once again, if you want to change the layout and just click on the slide where you want to do so. Then Home tab layout, and you can choose from these, a full background image layout could also be a good start. Again, go to insert pictures, stock images. Let's say this one. Let's have a look at it too. Looks also fine. And as you see how you start to add content to your slides in this consistent way, it really can make you feel like you feel the presentation with life, not just simply with content. Don't forget the slide sorter view down here. Once you are ready with all of your content, it can give you a very clear overview section by section. With that being said, we have come to the end of this course well done on completing the lessons. I'm sure if you apply this template as you learned here, big things will happen in your carrier. Please don't forget to leave a review. And I'm looking forward to see you in my other courses. 8. EXTRA Lesson: impressive animations within your slides: This one is an extra lesson that I created for you. As I assume you managed all classes and you just can't wait for more. But even without this, you are already able to apply and customize a template for your needs. You must have seen in the trailer, this part looks very nice, right? You might think that it's very tricky, but it's not. It's pretty much the same type of transition that we used at the entry animation. Namely the more transition. Technically it is not animation but transition, but after all, looks exactly like an animation. There is one little trick though, which I will show you in a minute. Let's go one by one and start here. You just learned from the previous lesson how to add these nicely positioned pictures. Let's add the Morph transition between these slides. Let's see what he does. You see? Nothing. What I want to do is to make this picture move over here, while it's generally transforming into this picture. And here comes the trick. For debt. You have to open the selection pane. Remember where it is. I can literally hear your voice telling me to go to Home tab, arrange and selection pane. Thank you. I'm glad you remember. Go to the slide where you want to start the morphing. Click on the picture, and here you see it has an aim. Simply image. Double-click on the name and just insert two exclamation marks. Select the complete name copied by Control C. Go to the next slide where you want to see the transformation into the other picture. Click on the specific picture. As you see it has a different name. Double-click and just based the other name by Control V. Now, let's see it again. Beautiful, just as we wanted. The key is the double exclamation marks and the identical picture names. If you miss any of those, it won't work. First of all, let's add the Morph transition everywhere, and it's always better to speed the transition time up a bit. The default two seconds is kinda slow. Remember that slide sorter view down here, it gives a better overview. Here we already have the more transition, but speed up to 1.5 seconds. Now select slide number 7, 8, and 9. Remember that you hold Control button. Now add the Morph transition and again, 1.5 seconds. Now we will do all the rest at once. Select slide number 11. 12, then 14, and 15. And let's do the same thing as before. Now here you notice an interesting thing. You realize that even though there is no exclamation marks, still it works. What happened? Plus, even if you change the name, still works. You see this is just an automatically generated name by PowerPoint. As you inserted it from the stock library. You could ask me right now, what the heck are you talking about better on? I know it is very confusing at first, but it's not really complicated. And believing the difference is that PowerPoint is actually smart and can differentiate identical and not identical pictures. Therefore, this picture that you want to morph here, there is no need for transforming those pictures. Since it is exact, it is exactly the same picture. It's just morphing and not transforming. This is the difference here. Transformation is only possible between two not identical pictures. Then you have to use the exclamation marks and the same picture name. Next one. You see how these are definitely two different pictures. Therefore, you have to do the same. Click on the picture here, double-click, add the two exclamation marks copied, then go to next slide. Click on this picture and paste the name by Control V. Test. It looks nice. And let's have a final overview. Looks all very nice. All right. You have now this extra animation tool in your pocket. I'm sure you will rock with your next presentation or whatever the situation may be. And with that being said, It was my pleasure to teach these powerful tools to you in PowerPoint. And remember, PowerPoint is not the software that it used to be for more decades. Believe me, it's already a magic weapon. Use it wisely and you will be successful with it. Please leave a review and I'm looking forward to see you in my other courses.
