About This Class
This is not your grandmother's macrame! In this class you will learn how to turn basic macrame knots into artful, modern wall hangings for your space!
Meet Your Teacher
After being burned out from the corporate side of graphic design, I decided to take some time rediscovering the right side of my brain.Somehow I have managed to exercise my left brain for most of my life and still find a way to satisfy my guilty pleasure in art. Coffee barista by day, hobbyist by night!
During this time, I got back into writing, taught myself macrame, and worked part time at Rifle Paper Co. while I drooled over all the packing and pretty printed things. While I am still refining my skills, I feel comfortable in where I am headed!

Your assignment will be to make your very own macrame wall hanging. I will teach you how to do 3 basic knots: lark's head, square knot, and spiral knot. Once you have mastered these knots, I will teach you how to create patterns with those knots!
I recommend keeping your piece between 7-12" wide for your first try!
Materials you will need:
- Wooden dowel, stick, or pipe Hobby Lobby or Home Depot
- Yarn or twisted cotton rope Knot and Rope (1/8" or 3/16" is recommended)
- 2 S-Hooks (and a clothing rack to hook them on) Home Depot OR The Container Store (I just bought some from The Container Store and they are much bigger!)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Embellishments: metallic washi tape (Michaels) macrame rings (Amazon or Joanns) copper couplings in place of beads (Home Depot)
For this class, you will upload the following:
- A picture of the materials you will be using
- A final picture of your completed piece
