1. Introduction: Hello everyone. My name is Amir Mirza, amitriptyline artists and creative director. I've been working from last seven years. I've worked with major brands, including United Nations, Pepsi railway, the keratin. In this class, I'm sharing all my techniques and experiences to guide you. So let's start at the gloss. This course, I will teach you how you can originally design a bender, former original client brief, but streamline workflow and a procedure to design a vendor or a billboard for your client. In this course, I will discuss with you introduction of client brief, samples of client brief. After that, we will deter mind that client needs. After that, we will discuss the design principles, typography, color theory, image selection for the vendor and billboards. And after that, we will discuss that designing veteran of vendor design in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. And after that, I will tell you how you can present your design, your banner designed to your client. And after that, we will prepare the banner design file for the production. And after that, we'll finalize this project and discuss if you have any questions. So let's start the class. 2. Introduction to Client Brief: Before starting designing, we need to talk to our client and get enough information so we can do our design job very exceptional according to the expectation of our clients. So first of all, first purpose of understanding the purpose of client brief. First of all, we need some information so we can get that information from our clients, e.g. design style, the content, the vendor, the copywriting. So we can design in the best way possible so we can get and grab the attention of our plane. After that, we have identified key elements in our client brief. There are some key elements in our client brief, e.g. we need to ask the budget from our clients. We need to ask the deadline or timeframe from our client. We do. We need to ask the design samples which kind of designs they like so we can design according to their expectations. These are the major elements of the client brief and as well, you need to ask the copyright if they have, are you have to do it by yourself? So learn how to analyze a client brief. We will analyze our client brief in the next section of class and we will discuss the benefits of analyzing client brief and what are the information crucial for the client brief? E.g. deadline, website, the data he wants to put in our clients, in our billboard. So these are the important thing we need to add in our client brief, e.g. here is a frictional client brief from my previous client. So he said, Hi, My company is looking to get a billboard made. The images that we bought on it are attached. My boss wanted a picture of Lake tau as the background and the bottle to standard out. We would also like the words made without water and Nevada sipping whiskey to be on it alongside with the website. And for our website. Is there anything else you can do? This is what I got information from my client. He said he need to attach an image as a background image of Lake. He also gave me the copywriting little bit of lag tau are made with the tower and Nevada sipping whiskey. So that's how you get the original brief from the client and you extract information from the client. So whenever you are getting a client brief, you need to determine what are the needs of Mike Light. Understanding the importance of determining the needs of your client. You need to understand the important. So you can exactly designed your billboard in that way. How to ask the right questions to your client, e.g. sir, what is your budget? Do you have any allocated budget for this design? I have a better idea. Can we can discuss or you can raise your budget a little bit. Maybe you can also identify how to address client needs in a banner, e.g. if there is missing something like He told you to put a put a website, but the business nature is you have to put the food. So you can ask your client cell maybe you can add who nobody in it. So you can create a listing. You need to create a list of questions you can ask from your client. E.g. I. Have created some list for the design review will share with your clients. So e.g. what is the size of billboard? What is the content for the billboard? You have any website or address copyrighting you have for your banner or slogan, and InDesign Preferences you have for your billboard. Any creative requirements you have, like, you want a very creative design. Do you have any design sample? And very important, what is the deadline of your project so you can complete your project on time. Maybe do you have any allocated budget to complete this project so you can get the idea of how much client wanted to spend on all this vendor design or in Billboard design. So you can code accordingly. After that, you have to also collect the assets from the design brief, e.g. in my original design brief, he said, I want an image of Lake tau and background of Lake Tahoe and bottle of whiskey to stand out and made veto water among the Comstock distance.com. So I've collected these assets from my design brief, e.g. first of all, lakes, our background image. I posted this a bottle to stand out. I got a photo shoot of their bottle of whiskey bottle and I put it here. Also you section of what we will do it in the software with typography. And of course we have the left side of my client as well. So these are the assets we need to collect from design brief so we can create a rough idea for our clients or we can get started working on a prototype of the billboard. So start creating a draft after you collect the data from your client, you need to crafting the idea. So once you have all our answers, the requirements of banner billboard design, you can move to your globe Illustrator and started working on crafting the idea. First of all, set the CMYK color mode and then set the size of your billboard. If it's in the field, you need to make it in the '80s so you can have a Less file size and you can work more smooth. And also for the large-scale printing or outdoor printing, you need to make it into inches. So without play of AI. 3. Create Initial Draft: We will now work on gentlemen client's design brief and I will design a billboard in front of you. So we have a design brief, my companies looking to get a billboard, made the image that we want on it are attached. My boss wants the picture of Lake how as a background and the to stand out. We would also like the words made without water and Nevada slipping whiskey. Also, they wanted to apply their website on it. So first of all, we make a canvas according to their requirements, which was 14 by 18 ft. Whenever you are designing a billboard in feed, you will keep your canvas in the inches so your file gets small. After that, we have to get the copy of the content for our billboard. In this case, we have to apply the constraints like made without water. So we will apply made with water as our content tagline. And also we will add other taglines which is requirement of our client, which is Nevada's whiskey. So we will just for the quick, we will copy this and paste it as a new layer. So we can, we can make it in a fast workflow. And just we need to copy it again and then paste it here. So we have these two lines and as well, the client's requires to have their website in the billboard. So we will keep the website of our client in the billboard. And it takes times you have to focus on the requirements of client. And first of all, you will apply all the content which is needed for your website. And then we can start designing the bill word. So e.g. I. Just put the exemplary content which was required by our client on the billboard. And now after that, I will start working on the media side of it will go. So I think we can make this text a little bit semi bold and offered that we can make the changes. So this is how you can use your design brief to create an initial draft of your billboard design. 4. Banner Design Theory: So when you crafted a rough idea for your banner and you are going to design your vendor. You need to keep in your mind some basic design principles for your vendor design. So I will just put a little bit of theory of banner designer in general graphic design so you can have the idea. First of all, we need to understand the design principles or in the banner design or in the graphic design, how balanced warehouse retrieval. So there are total 12 basic principles which is contrast, balanced, emphasize proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, veteran, whitespace, movement variety. These visuals and graphic design principles work together to create a feeling and functional design. E.g. you have to keep your design in the alignment. You have to do the reputations, you have to do the contrast play. You have to do the hierarchy in your design. Or if there is no alignment, then you can do the balance in your design with the color of black and white ratio. Maybe you can create a balanced tension. It should be some outline and you need to p bar rhythm in it, so it will look for it. After the design principles, you need to keep in your mind the colors you are choosing for your billboard or your brand. It usually depends on what brand you are working for. What is the theory of brands? So e.g. you can choose radical or if the brand is exciting, cis-trans low energy, or you can use a blue color if the brand has very cooperate feeling. Or maybe a brand is more like into the green energy, then you can use a green color for the freshness quality. And if a brand is very minimal, you can use a black and white color. These colors or effect will in fact, on your ad, on your bender, and it will effect on the image of your brand as well. So you have to keep in your mind what colors you are choosing for your better. After that pipe overall, typographic is very important when you are going to make a visual add. Typography is basic elements when you are making a banner ad, how to select. I will teach you a basic idea of how to select appropriate typographic for your vendor. Simple lines, a, B, C. You can see I just made a simple lines. These lines give the emotions are rough emotion or smooth emotion or emotional apply for emotion. E.g. if we translate anger, we can do these kind of harsh line and same. We will use the cluster for our cinema 4D. After dad, if we were to give the harsh emotion, we will do the sharp angled line. Or if we want to make a playful emotion, we will use a very playful I love. So it will look playful. And that's how you can use e.g. if we were to happy, friendly emotion, we were to give in our vendor are in our air, will just use a gentle curve line, e.g. this word. After that, maybe if you want a little bit calm and balanced and corporate loop, we can use the columns for how the emotion play with the edges of your fault, or the lines or the feel and look of your quote, e.g. head is a desk or a little test online emotions result e.g. which looks the happiest. 123. I think that this one look happier because you're giving the emotion. Which one looks more angry? This is looking a little funny. This is leukemia to see this. This is a little bit angry. And which one is little more sad? This is little cooperate. This one is a little odd, but this one is looking more. And which one is looking funny? And of course this one is giving the field. So it's all about the play of light and how the line is giving creating emotion. In the fall, you will choose your According to tear. After dad. Image selection. Image selection is also very important in the banner design. It depends on what kind of brand you have. Also, we will discuss it, e.g. brand imagery is an essential tool for your brand use to communicate with target audience. It works on other elements. It works on other animals like your logo brand voice, messaging, your image selection work with your logo or messaging and make a combined image of your brand. Image selection is very important. E.g. I. Have two image selections here. The first one is Tiffany. They have very minimal imagery approach, very minimalistic. Me. And the other side, I have a GoPro image selections. It's a page for the GoPro adventure page, adventure category brands. So they have very adventurous picture where there's how you need to select the image for your banner or your billboard according to the grant. We can give a message for the feeling with developer relations of your audience, with your brand. So now we will start designing our billboard. 5. Banner Design Basic: After that, now we have a picture here which we got from our client of the town lake. And we will use this as our our background of our billboard. So it will just take time. And with the time you can, you can make this billboard perfect. We're just applying the picture of the lake and Command Backspace so we can make it layer behind our Nevada's layer. Or you can click on the layer section. And now in the layers, you can see where our background layer is. So you can change it up or down according to the requirement. So it's all depends on where you want to keep it. Like this. You can keep it here. Maybe. After Ahmad and the backspace, I will put it in the video as well, how you undo it and offer that. We have to make a clipping mask so the image get fit into our canvas size. So I will select both images are image and the rectangle and click on the most and make clipping mask. So it will easily clipping mask hour background. And after that, I will arrange it to send back backward. Or maybe we can send it to the arrangement. We will send it to back. So it will send to just as a background. I'll get back to the end. And after that, we need to apply a little bit more elements in our billboard. Like we need to have the portal of our wine here are our whisky here. And after that, just a little bit. Zoom, I think we can make our website on this section. We will play according to the line of the rule of thirds. I think the bottle will look good here on the sitting on the stones. And after that, I will apply this batch here as well. On the billboard, it will look like it will look good. I think. And I think we can apply this on this section. It will, it will look just a little vintage. Look in our billboard. It will look better in this space. You have to design according to the choice of your client and samples you got. So I'm just preparing the design. And after that we have our logo, which is in white and we have to make up a local little prominent. So I will keep the logo big and I will select these and I will go to the align central line and make these two little center. So our logo can look better. I think I will remove this section for now because it will making our billboard little awkward. And I will increase the size of our logo a little bit. So we have to make corrections, we have to do to see the font, to read the design from which area it's getting different. So we can manipulate it and we can make it correct. 6. Banner Design & Typography: So now we pasted the basic content of our billboard and now we have to make corrections of the text are we can say typographic for it. We can use multiple phones, multiple design styles, typographic styles for it. First of all, I will try to make it into the white color. And then I will make our layer into the opacity. I will select all these layers. Maybe I will leave the website layer behind it, and I will choose these two layers and apply our opacity to multiply. Maybe we can try which way it's going better. And maybe overlay, overlay is doing better for us. And after that, I will try to make on my phone a little bit better for it. I will. Maybe we can choose different font styles. E.g. we have here won't sell it. And we can experiment other fonts as well. If they are going fine with our style. Maybe we can choose a little bit of arm if all, you have to experiment in which font is nice. We can also try some vintage for it as well. And for it we have to type vintage. And maybe we will get to the sun vintage force. So we can make few examples with the vintage forward and simple font. So we can show it to our client for the better results and better idea, the better design style. And far no, I think I will choose lemon really good for there. And it's beautiful font in its own way. And I will choose lemon milk for this one as well. And maybe lemon milk in the regular. So now it's making a little comprehensive look in our imagery. And after that, I will make it a little centralize and I will make it a little bit above. And I need to make the correction of our backgrounds. Our background look more realistic and more better for it. So I have to make the changes in my background so I can, I can make the area of my text a little bit more better. So I will select the a or with the selection tool, direct selection tool. We have to selection tool, selection tool and Direct Selection tool. With the direct selection tool, I will try to make a little bit play with the area so we can, we can get a little bit area or for our background so we can decide which way we need to get. So we can have our little bit of margin to experiment with the scene in our billboard. So it can look maybe a little bit better. I think we can try to add this part a little so we can balance our texts between two layers, are two separate layers where our mountains are, skies are getting together. It maybe we can add a little bit of a gradient towards the, towards the background. So it will merge our background and more visible our text. For it, we will make our gradient from up to down, and we will choose the opacity. We will select the color of our gradient to the black for both points. And then we will use the 0% opacity for the other point. And after that, I will make my gradient opacity to multiple as well. So it will start giving a little bit smoother effect for the loop we wanted to create for our billboard. And after it, I will make this too after the layer of our background. So the other layers will load, get in touch with it. And I will duplicate this layer. And I will apply this layer below our background as well. So this is how you can keep experimenting with the layers, with the styles. So you can get an achieve, very cool, very realistic result that can help you in your branding, in your design asserts and overall imagery of your design as well. It's all about experimentation. From the more you experiment, the more better results you will get. Four now, I need to make a change is a little bit. We'll try to make the opacity to 60%. Maybe I, maybe I will put it to 20 per cent. I will try to put it. Yeah. And now I will try to make it a little bit more. Maybe 70 per cent. Maybe I will keep it to the 100. 100 is fine. Or maybe we can keep it to the 90. So we can, we can experiment. And I will put this bottle of Nevada as well to, first of all, I will go to object and unlock all the layers so I can make the position of my layers to front or back. So I will refer it in the bag. So it gives a little bit too much blue my background. And after that, I will. Make a little bit more changes. Yeah, I think it's fine. And then maybe we can put our layer here, or maybe I can put it here. So it gets a little bit more visible. It's all about experimentations. The more you do the experiment, the more better results you will get. And I will go to the opacity again, and I will increase this opacity to 100%. I will make the gradient area little bit increased. So I can get a little bit visible. Look for my text. It's very important to make your text visible. The more visible texts will get, the more accurate results you will have. And the more sales you will generate, the more relative results you will have in your billboard design. The more and the more relative results you make, the more happier your client will be. And we can also decrease the leukocytes little bit. And after that, we can make variations for, for our logo, for our billboard. So we can give our clients a little bit of variation so it can be happy. It will be good for the business. And after that, I will need a little bit vintage look. Maybe I will use my vintage fonts. I think this one will look good. I'll select the font and then I will click all the winter. And maybe I can choose this font and this font. Or maybe this depends on whatever you want to express. I think this one will be fine. Maybe this one this one is better, in my opinion. Depends on along the law. It all depends on the wounding to the requirements of the client. Maybe I will select it and keep it vintage and then I will make this one this this one for the Nevada. I will also make it to this one. And I will decrease the size a little bit and make it like this way so it can get little, little artistic because we're doing it for the whiskey designs. So it should have to be artistic. So you can we can get our clients are very luxury experience we want in our billboard. And also, I can, I can make another, another composition with the typographic compositions. You can change it to the photo topography. You can change the background, anything you like. And in it, I will prefer to make another form which I can keep, maybe Trajan. It's a very good, very amazing fault. It's used in the Game of Thrones as well. So it gives a very comprehensive, very cool looking look. And this is how you can make multiple, multiple samples with the use of typographic and layers. And I need to make a little bit of work on my website. Look as well. So I waiting, we can try to keep this way, or maybe lemon milk or Trajan, who can try it? I think this one is looking better. And we can keep it to the pole. We can change the text details. And after that, we can lower its size a little bit, just a little so it can be focused. And on the level of working here as well. Maybe we can do it here. So it gets attracted very quickly towards our clients. And maybe we can also give it a drop shadow. I think this will, this will find and it looks great. And after that, we will see how we can represent our part to the client. 7. How to represent your design: So after making the design finalized, we will explore our design and we will try to see how we can make our design more perfect. All we can share our design with the client in a more better way. We can, how we can represent our design in a more better way. So it will look fine. Or we will get the acceptance of our design and we will get our efforts, the payment of over efforts. So we will go to Export and we'll go to Export As and we'll also save it as I listed for file for the backups so we can make the changes and we'll explore it as a JPEG. We'll make a new, I will make a new folder which is named as form stacks. Stacks distillery. So I can keep my older content of my files in the same way. And I will use, Use Artboard and I will export all the art boards in my PNG from maybe, or maybe I can, I can select that shape back so it will be fine. It will have less quality, but less file size as well. Because I'm showing it for the sample. And often it we will share the original PDF file with our client and then our design is approved. I will make it a JPEG, save it in the combs stacks, export and index for section. I will use the side, then I will use the values. I will use a color style and laughter it, I will just click on the Export. It will take some time to export your files. And we can refine our files into Photoshop so we can learn how we can represent our file in a good way, in a beautiful manner. Exporting artworks takes time because it has to takes time. It needs to develop the artwork as well. If you are making artwork in the big size, that's floating artwork next time. So you don't have to worry if your computer is taking a lot of time in exporting the artwork. So we have here all our exported artworks, our banner designs, and we can recheck it and we can control it if there is anything missing in our artworks. And after that, I have a very good, great mock-ups in my billboard designs, which I will use to express to my clients. So we will learn how we can use this as a mock-up. So we will go to the Photoshop. I have my layers opened up, the billboards I will use. And then I will just click on it and I will just relink the file to my new file, which I'll billboard I designed go to learning and link it with the first billboard and just click Okay. And it will be automatically placed on my billboard and it will look great. I'll have to resize it a little bit. I will just select Command T and I will resize my billboard because you're in a big size, so we have to resize it. And after that, I will just zoom in so I can have the idea with our billboard is representing on which direction it's going on. And after that, I can make I asked adjustment layer, e.g. I. Can make a curves layer to increase or decrease exposure of my Billboard to make it give it a little better look, to make it a little bit more visible. And I will save this Command Shift S. I will name it as, I will say, save it in the same layer, which in the same folder. And I will name it as billboards woke up, just mockup one. And I will say with allergy, big as well. So you can, you can understand the workflow of designing the billboard for the client. And after that, I will use this billboard. I will select on it. I will link this file to my billboard as well. I will use the first billboard again for it and click Okay, and then I have resize it a little bit. So I will resize it by pressing the Shift key. It will not change a little bit. Anything in it can. I will have to go to the art work and change our billboard size again. Here. I will select the whole sizes and lumen so I can make the corrections in a very smooth way. So nothing gets disturbed from my design. And after it, I have to make the corrections are very perfect and confirm if my correction is doing fine. And I can remove the artwork lights. I can use the billboard lights, like in the style of my layer to the normal. So we can, we can have the idea of power billboard, which way it's going on, which direction is going on. So we can have a very perfect, very streamlined look for our billboard. I will increase the size and mode. And here we are doing good here. And this is how you can represent your artwork in the mockups. So it will look good and it will help you to get more clients. And it will help you to accept the billboard designs very quickly as well. Just save this file, share it with the client so you can get the feedback. And after getting the feedback, we will make the changes accordingly. Or we can approve the design, we will finalize it. That's how you make a billboard or banner design, our flyer design, or what you can say, a slogan design from the brief of our client to life-size billboard. 8. Print Ready Final File: So to create a print ready production file, we will just go to our file. We'll click on Save as and we will save as a PDF because PDF is mostly file which is production ready and go further printing. Choose Adobe PDF.
