1. Introduction to the field of lavenders in watercolours : Friend. I welcome you on a new skill share class where I will be sharing with you how to paint a beautiful field of lavender flowers and to recreate this beautiful postcard for your beloved ones. For those of you who are for the first time here, my name is Ala. I'm a sched illustrator and the water colorist from 2020. I'm an art teacher too. In today's video, I will be sharing not only how to paint lavender flowers, but also I will be sharing the tricks on how to mix different red and blue colors to get different purple colors. Obviously, you can take violet colors from your pellets straight away. But I really advise you to start mixing colors and to enjoy the process of getting a new shade of a specific color. During the process of painting, I will be sharing how to create the lavender flower with different shades. Somewhere it will be warmer color. Somewhere it will be cooler color. And I will share how to create this in a beautiful composition. Let's jump in. 2. Supplies: The supplies that we will need for this class. It will be watercolor paper, 200 GSM or higher density watercolor paper, mixed medium paper paint brushes. I will be using my Escoda number six Kolinski, Marta Kolinski here for creating the mixed colors as well. To share with you the polite how we mix the colors on it. And as well for the lavender field, I will be using a thinner pain brush. I will be using the Ncino, a synthetics. Number four, you can use any thin pain brush that you have. I will be using my 36 pence watercolors, white nights, I will be using different red and blue colors from the sleet. We won't need any pencil or user. We will need water, and hair dryer, and some tissues. Let's jump in. 3. Basic knowledge on how to mix colors to get purple: In this video, I invite you to paint some beautiful landfill of La vendors. We will replicate the reference, but at the same time I want to do it exactly in the same way we are artists. I will change it slightly. The idea of this class is more educational then to replicate exactly how it is in the picture. What we see is that the lavender flowers are violet colors as well. We have to consider that only we see the violet colors. There is also in the background, we see some rose colors as well. In the front, we see more blue colors. We also have green colors. Not only the violet colors. This is why as a mean color, I will propose you to apply like a very light violet color or even some pink color as a main color for the land, the flowers, and the light green for the stem. And for some details. Let me show you how to do it. First I will, I have kind rose. I have also kind, and I have violet colors. I want to make use of these colors because I don't know if you have these colors on your plate. This is why I will take some red color. I will mix it with old shamin color. I will show you here. I will take some ruby red color. I will take it already has some old shirin colors in it and some old irin color till I will get a beautiful violet color that I need. I see that here, the color it is more blue and it is cool enough for recreating the color. And to have the color a slightly warmer, I add more ruby red color. We see that here we have more red color. Here we have more or less the light color that we need for the background light violet color. If we apply ultramarine color, we have violet, really strong violet color. This is one way to mix up colors. If you want, you can also change. And instead of ultramarine color, ultramarine color is a granule in color. We will take ruby color. I took a little bit more from the start. I will take some blue color coupled blue color. I will take more. We see that the color is slightly different. We also have some violet color, but it is a little bit different to what we used to have here. Or we can take red color, ruby color. We can take some bright blue color. We see that the colors are changing slightly and change differently. By the end, I think that I will take cobalt blue color and ruby color for this main color that I will use. 4. First layer of painting lavender flowers: Mean color that I will use. For example, I will take ruby color and bright blue color. I mix till I have this light rosy color or light violet color. You see it is still pink. I add more water. In water colors. It is important that we apply with lots of water, with lighter color at the beginning till we start understanding how to apply the colors. We start little by little by adding small dots like this. I will take a thinner pain brush. In my case, I will take one gook number four synthetics. I will start doing some slight moves where I will replicate the flowers from the background. As you see, we have a beautiful flower that have flowers here. Then it has a stem and then it has another flowers. I will replicate those two. I will take just into attention the flowers that catch up my attention and we'll replicate those here. I have another one. I will paint it like this. I start from the background flowers first because those will stay with first layer only. I won't apply any layer on those la, instead the flowers that I have in front of me, I will apply several layers. I apply little by little these flower, if we would work with the wet on wet technique, I would make those blurred. In this case, it is not the case we are working with different layers and this is why I'm not doing those blurred. I will make those with strong color. We have the four and we have a small stem to the main stem that we have. We see that somewhere we already have lighter colors, we have more blue colors. I will add a mix of blue to have a cooler color. I will replicate those here. Here we have a little bit cooler color. For example, here, this flower that we have in front of us, it is very cool here, it is super light. Then we have a little bit darker and warmer. This is the case when the light is cool. Shadow is usually when we pat, we see warm colors in the light, cool colors in the shadow. I will take a tissue. I will add more details. I play around with these flowers. I will make even lighter. I took the blue color more. We can remove slightly the excess of color that we have by removing it with a tissue. These flowers are in the background. Those don't necessarily need to stay super light, super dark. The main flowers that we will have in front of us is this one. This one I will replicate another one here, some flowers in the background, but I will add, I will come up with those in front. Somewhere we have like a flower like a dot and a smaller stem. It is clearly seen somewhere. It is not seen. This is why I make a bunch. The main color actually is always a bunch. Later we work with details and we can replicate and make those to look better and to look more visible. But first layer usually is, it is not required to work with so many details. Okay, here we have the main color. I have also green, Not only the flowers. Here we have another one. So pay attention that I paint with the main color, all the flowers that I wish. And here I paint more flowers. Meanwhile, I leave the dry. You can use a hair dryer to dry. I will proceed with the stems. 5. Painting stems in watercolours : For the stems, we will use a very light green color. I have many green colors on my pot, I have from yellowish green to green and olive green here I would work with olive green. But because I don't know which colors you have, I will proceed with normal green color that I have. I will use simple yellow color. I will use very few green color and more yellow color to recreate the main color for the green for the stem. We can also add some violet colors from here. And add it here to work with some darker shadows. With this color and this, and with reflections from the flowers. But as main color, we will work with this green, darker green color for the shadow, for the highlight will work yellow and green color. Now I will the colors I will prepare here my mix of colors. You see how beautiful it is and I take my dinner pain brush and I work with it. I remove the excess of water. And for the flowers that stay in the background, I will apply a very light color, for example, here. Now, with this mix of color, I will get this kind of green color. I will use it here. I will add more green color, more than yellow. Are again. 6. Last layer: Let's proceed with the flowers that will pop up in front of us. These were the flowers from the background. Now I will pay more attention to the data comes in front of us. For this, we've already work with the stems and with the main colors. Now we are working with the second layer and we will improve the darkness of these colors. We use more blue color, a little bit of ruby red. We will make these beautiful, dark violet colors. We make it warmer. Now we adjust and apply less water and more color. We start to recreate the shadows that we have here. Usually the shadow that we have, it is right in the middle. Outside we have lighter color. We leave it with one layer on instead. Inside were darker color again and make it a little bit darker. You see the difference between these flowers that stay in the background and this one that stay in front of us. I like make those to pop up in front of us and to catch up the viewer eye. This will stay in the background and I will take this one in front of us. Apart from this, we see that we have some greenery. And I will add some green color, just simple green color here in the background. I can add it to now. Last but not least, a very lovely effect that I really like to do. By the end of any work like this, I take some color and make some splotching effect. As we don't have any background here, it will look fantastic here. I take all the colors that I used in this work and add some splotching effect. That's it. Look how beautiful it gets. 7.
