1. Introduction: Welcome to mastering
goal-setting. I'm really excited that
you're here with me. Goals frame your future and help you work towards
something tangible. They are driving force
for those of you who are continuously on a journey of self-improvement
and betterment. For many of us, goal-setting
isn't necessarily an area in life that we need assistance in following through, could be the real issue. Or maybe you don't know
where to start and end up giving up hope long before
the process has even begun. In this module,
I'll help you quiet the internal noise that surrounds your goal
setting journey. This will aid you and clearly
seeing how to be the best, most successful person
that you can be by setting and sticking
to long-term goals. This module, we'll show you how goal setting requires
a lifestyle change. One that requires consistency, that works for you
and your schedule. Here's what we're going to cover during this 11 step module. Mastering goal-setting. First, let's start off with the goal-setting questionnaire
and go into micro goals, stretch goals, smart
goals, a goal worksheet, goal tracker worksheet,
the worksheet, checklist, notes, Resource
Toolkit, your why, and finally, content
visualization creation as we go through this module as well
as any of my others, I invite you to move
at your own pace. Pause and reflect as
it feels right to you. Take the time you
need to fill each of the handouts as well as take some time for breath
work, water stretching t. This is time for you. And when you're ready, I'll be here for you.
2. Goal Setting Questionnaire: Step number one, goal
setting questionnaire. What are three to five
goals that you've set and achieved in
the last 90 days. No matter how big
or small the goal, go ahead and write those down. We often set goals and
once we complete them, we just get on, keep
trucking forward. And almost don't even
take the time to savor the journey of
our accomplishment. And this is huge when
mastering goals, the success in print is there and we want to keep
tapping into that. Now, when you reflect on
the three to five goals, I invite you to think
about how you were feeling when you
achieve these goals. You did it. So congratulations. I invite you to feel it
and really soak it in. Clients have said
that they feel calm, brave, proud, excited about
their accomplishment. Describe how you felt when
you achieve these goals. Now, we want to
flip this around. What are three to five
goals do you set but didn't achieve in
the last 90 days? It's okay. It's good to come from a place of compassion
and non judgment. And that's exactly
why we're here. Let's turn these goals that we didn't achieve into
opportunities. And go ahead and list
the goals that you didn't achieve in the
last three months. Once you are complete, describe how you
felt when you did not achieve those goals. You might even check in
with yourself right now, reflecting on how
you're feeling of that non follow-through
are facing the reality that you
have set these goals in the past but
haven't achieved them. How does that make you feel? What does your
heart saying to you by not achieving those goals? What emotions are
coming up for you? Now, self-awareness
is a key component to tapping into the
mastery of goal-setting. And of course, that
accomplishment, how do we want to feel
versus how we might feel, really harnessing the motivating feelings when we're ready, let's continue on to page
to select from the list how you would like to feel when
working towards your goals, and how you will feel when you're accomplishing
and achieving them. Feel free to write
in any of the spaces below if it's not
included already, would you like to feel
accomplished or brave, carefree, fears in tune? Go ahead and circle any and all that you would like to feel. This is really going to
pull into our motivation, the continued
motivational source, even saying that you want to feel it is setting
that intention.
3. Micro Goals: Step number two, micro goals. And before we begin
this process, I'd like to go over
the importance of both micro goals
and stretch goals. Now the definitions as well as some examples that are
really going to support us. First, why is it important to set micro and stretch goals? Well, it's simple. We get overwhelmed when we focus on only the stretch goal, that long-term huge goal, it can feel a bit unachievable
or even daunting. Now another reason is
that we really want to anchor success
with micro goals, those micro wins, and we're more likely to keep it going
forward for that stretch goal. Think about it. If we set one goal and that
was to lose 51 pounds, that can feel very overwhelming, like we've already
become defeated yet, if we set a weekly
micro goal and let's say this is to lose
two pounds a week. Well, does this
feel a little bit more doable, more motivating? Maybe these micro victories, we'll be getting
into step three, which is stretch
goals in the moment. So I'll be mentioning
some more examples covering both micro
and stretch goals. For micro goal, I will
research hiking trails. Stretch goal for that, I will hike Machu Picchu. Another example for micro goal, I will sign up for
a tennis lesson. Stretch goal. I will join a
tennis league micro goal. I will lose two pounds. Stretch goal. I will lose 50 pounds. So micro goal, I will
walk four times a week. Stretch goal, I will
lose ten pounds. When working towards goals, it's critical to set micro
goals, small, actionable, bite-sized steps that are paving the way to
that stretch goal, that long-term
goal, when looking at your goals of which
you want to achieve. Remember, micro goals consistent of what steps you
would like to achieve, to what stretch goal,
the large goal. Let's go ahead and write down your four micro goals and the space is provided
on page three.
4. Stretch Goals: Step three, stretch goals. Now pull from each micro goal and create your stretch goals. Think about what you really, really want from
each micro goal. What is the stretch goal
that you're working towards? These are your goals. This is your optimal life. Take the time you need. I'll be right here.
5. SMART Goals: Step number four, smart goals. Let's review. A smart goal is an
acronym for specific, measurable, achievable,
realistic, and time limited. Let's turn your micro
goals into smart goals. Micro goal, I will
research hiking trails, micro smart goal, however, I will research three hiking
trails by next Tuesday, April 23rd, micro goal, I will sign up for
tennis lessons. Micro stretch goal. I will research to tennis
clubs by Friday, April 26. When you are ready, write out your four micro smart goals
when those are complete. New bond to start your
stretch smart goals, which is on page six. This is really exciting. I know it's a lot,
you can do it. I invite you throughout
this course and all of my others to check
in with yourself. Throughout each process,
how are you feeling, what emotions are coming up? Allow yourself to
observe your emotions, feelings, and reactions
with no judgment. Just allow them to be
there and witness that.
6. Goals Worksheets: Step number five,
which is found on page seven, goal worksheet. Each worksheet is organized, so all of your micro goals, all four of them will be broken down into micro smart goals. Once those are complete, each stretch goal will be broken down into stretch smart goals. We're getting crystal
clear here, aren't we? At the top, you will write
in your micro smart goal. Go back to page five and look
at your notes as you wish. Let's begin micro
smart goal number one, I will research
three hiking trails by next Tuesday, April 23rd. Now let's break this down. Continuing with this example, what needs to get done
in order for us to accomplish researching three hiking trails
by next Tuesday, we'd need to schedule
time to research. I have a few friends that hike, maybe I can reach out for referrals and I've heard that
there's some hiking apps. Maybe I can download
one of those, so great. Now let's create action steps
to achieve each mini goal. We do not want to leave
any stone unturned. So check our calendar. Perhaps we need to block off
time and a calendar as well, childcare and
charging our computer and continue on to
mini goal number two, which is to reach out to friends
for referrals by Sunday. What action steps
needed to go wander your mini goal number to continue on until
you feel complete. There are eight
spaces available for your action steps to
achieve many goals, you may use all eight. You may not need to go
through each handout, breaking each and
every micro goal, then onto stretch goals down. These range from
page seven to 14. You've got this. Congratulations on
going through each of your micro goals
and stretch goals. Making them smart. Going through our goals with a fine tooth comb really sets us up for success around
achieving each and every goal. Relish in the work
that you've just did. I'm sure you found certain goals more or maybe even
less important to you, which may have shifted
your priorities. And that's what
this is all about. Our priority is
aligned with our goals and then in turn
create our lifestyle. I want to take a
moment to acknowledge you for really going through this process that
took some time and it also took some introspection
and processing. It's a great job.
7. Goal Tracker Worksheets: Step number six, goal tracker. I loved the next two handouts, seeing where we are making
progress is so motivating. Maybe you are someone who loves having a checklist
or a to-do list. And if so, these handouts
are just for you. The next two are specifically every time you make progress
in each of your goals, micro smart and stretch smart. Check it off, cross it off, and don't forget to have many celebrations for
each and every goal. And rewards and
celebrations are big, not only big but extremely important on our subconscious
and conscious level, your brain evokes
positive emotions by rewarding yourself, your brain realizes that these
efforts are positive and your brain will start
to link pleasure to accomplishing the goals at hand. Some of my clients have
reported back and different ways that they've
celebrated their successes. And some have been to get a
massage, go for the beach, walk, checkout a work early, and even some have
taken art classes. I invite you to think of ways that you would like to reward yourself upon successfully
accomplishing your goals. Now, remember, each goal
can have different rewards, so have fun with it. And the most
important thing is to allow and receive
you to the work. When is the right time? Go and celebrate it.
8. Worksheet Checklist: Step number seven,
worksheet checklist. This is on page 16. This is a great
one-stop shop for your goals and
step-by-step checklist. Feel free to make
copies of these and use them as you break down
each and every goal, go ahead and as you complete
a step, check it off. It's going to feel so good
once you complete each goal. That's when you get to
implement the reward. And always remember,
check in with yourself. How are you feeling about
the progress you're making?
9. Notes: You will find on step eight a full note page to
follow through, continue more reflection
and some journaling. Some clients like to journal how important each goal is to them. Some like to vent and empty out their feelings around each goal. And one that I personally love is that some clients
like to write out a story around each goal and how it will feel when
they achieve it. Remember, the power
of visualization, the power of intention.
10. Resource Toolkit: Step number nine,
Resource Toolkit. This is great for finding continued support
and motivation. What resources do you need to thrive around each
of your goals? Is it a coach? Is it that you need compassion, perhaps more energy,
or patients? Is it that you need
a permission slip? Whatever you need, you can fall back on this
resource toolkit to support you through this journey and all
the other ones to come.
11. Your Why: Step ten, your y. Here I have eight powerful and thought-provoking
questions to uncover your true why behind each and every
one of your goals. Not only the ones you have
done during this module, but all of your goals
moving forward, these materials are
so powerful and useful throughout
each phase of life. Remember to always
pull these tools out as part of your
mastering toolkit. Here we go. First question, when you
think about your goals, what are the top five
dash seven driving forces in you accomplishing them? Is it feeling a sense
of accomplishment? Maybe it's a financial
freedom, are getting promoted. I often hear a major
driving force supporting optimal health by
accomplishing a goal around weight-loss, e.g. I. Hear, yes, to lose weight is the driving
force of that health. But moreover, it's getting off medications,
comfortably walking, feeling confident in your body, getting to play with your kids, your grandkids,
keeping up with them. Who is involved with
accomplishing your goals? Family, your coach, friends, spiritual community,
athletic community. Is any additional support needed in accomplishing
your goals? Maybe it's having
a support group, having accountability are
even having more structure. What support would
that be for you? It went back into
a few client notes and saw a common theme around taking the time to
structure out of plan. This, of course, it encompasses structure and mind-mapping, but it also touches
on accountability. Is that what you need to
accomplish your goals, write it all out. Moving to page number 20, in what ways will your
life be positively impacted by accomplishing
your goals? Maybe you'll have more time
or more flexible schedule. You'll be happier,
maybe reduce stress. What comes to mind for you? Question number five? Can you identify it any ways
in which your life might be negatively impacted by you
accomplishing your goals. The unknown of what to
do next maybe will be bored or have a feeling of
lack of control, feeling lost. What emotions come
up when you think about accomplishing your goals? Is it excitement, feeling accomplished,
relieved, complete? And next, he'll be the
first two to three people you tell that you did indeed
accomplish your goal. You might have different
people for each goal, maybe one person is as passionate about one of
your goals as you are, and that's what you need. Maybe there's camaraderie
or enthusiasm. Now let's go to question number
eight, the last question, how will you celebrate once
you accomplish your goals? We went over a few
examples earlier, getting a massage,
going to the beach. Maybe having a few of
your closest friends over for a lunch or maybe
taking the whole day off, just being for you. We all could benefit from
that way of celebrating. So celebrate big.
12. Content VIsualization Creation: Step number 11, content
visualization creation. Are you a visual person? This will be great
for you if it is, and even if you're not, I still think you might have some fun. And studies show that the
more you see your goals, the more you visualize them, the more likely you
are to achieve them. And like Dr. Wayne Dyer said, You get what you think about
whether you want it or not. So let's think about
some good stuff. Let's get thinking about these
goals and visualize them. You have done such a great job mastering goal
setting, this journey, and now it's time
to really create your content visualization
creation and really see it. Here's what you'll need
for this exercise. Magazines, images,
photos, scissors, glue sticks, or tape, mid to large size poster board, and a space that you
feel the most un, now, collect any words and those
images that speak to you, there doesn't need to be a
reason why speaks to you. Just allow that feeling,
that creative side. It could be a tree, it could be a shape, it could be a word. Just allow yourself to
collect these images as freely and
accepting as possible. You might notice that you're
drawn to hiking trails. And if that might be
one of your goals, then I'd imagine
why it's calling you or photographs of food. If one of your goals is around
we're learning new things. It also might be an image that doesn't really pertain
to any of your goals. Keep that and put it on your content visualization
creation board. It might be a goal
that is to come, take your time that you need. Do not rush this, just spend time being creative. When I host content visualization
creation workshops, I often like to have
music on candles burning, religious have a nice pace
and a nice environment. Feel free to space the photos, the words in the
way that you want. There's no exact
right or wrong way because this is all you,
it's your creativity. And how fun when you're
ready and complete. Take three to 5 min to look at your content visualization board with eyes have compassion, strength, allowance, motivation,
kindness, curiosity. What you see is part of you. This is you. Congratulations, mastering goal-setting
is officially complete. Continue doing the work
and remember your tools. They're always here for you and I'm always
here for, you know, you were doing amazing and
you are so appreciated. Live with love, live with light.
