About This Class

Hi, I'm Olga, and welcome to this perspective drawing party!

IS THIS CLASS FOR YOU? This class is suitable for complete beginners in interior sketching and perspective drawing in general. Interior design and architecture students will benefit the most from this class.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? In these four lessons of the class, I will cover the basics of a 2-point perspective, the most important for interior designers and architects since it gives one of the best and the most dynamic views over the interior. Step by step, I'll take you through the basic perspective concepts like the horizon line, eye level, vanishing points, picture plane, and I will show you exactly how to use them in your interior drawings.

HOW YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE CAN CHANGE AFTER TAKING THIS CLASS? After mastering this new skill, perspective interior sketching, lots of my students took their interior design practice to the next level, where they can freely sketch their ideas in front of their clients. Some of my students became interior sketch artists and now earn money by drawing commissions for interior designers, design magazines, architectural firms.

YOUR BEAUTIFUL CLASS PROJECT: At the end of this class, you will draw a professional-looking interior sketch by using perspective basics I cover here. Your class project will be to draw a professional-looking bedroom sketch in a 2-point perspective. I'll show you step-by-step how to accomplish it by, first, introducing you to two of my favourite methods of building a 2-point perspective with scales (don't you worry, they're really easy and super fun!). Next, by making a pencil drawing of a bedroom and finally, a technique to colour it.

WHAT EXACTLY WILL YOU LEARN HERE?

  • During this 30-min class, I will deconstruct and make perspective easy for you by sharing the best techniques and methods so you will learn how does perspective work in interior drawings.
  • Step by step I'll take you through the basic perspective concepts like the horizon line, eye level, vanishing points, picture plane and I will show you exactly how to use them in your interior drawings.
  • Together we will go over secrets of perspective so by finishing this class you will complete a couple of perspective exercises (lessons #1 and #2 after Intro) and draw your very own beautiful and professional-looking "Dream Bedroom" interior sketch by using a linear 2-point perspective (lessons #3 and #4 after Intro).

I'm sure that at the end of this class, you will fall in love with perspective as much as I do and finally will stop struggling with it.

All lessons in this class are short and sweet and packed with essential knowledge.

MATERIALS: As for the materials for this class, all you will need here is a pencil, an eraser, a ruler and a sheet of paper (plus a couple of markers or coloured pencils, but it is optional).

The debate surrounding hand sketching VS 3D imagery has become a hot theme these days. Having grown up with computers, today's interior design and architecture students are extremely adept at creating a computer-generated images, but often lack confidence in their freehand sketching skills, or even do not know how to sketch and how to use perspective at all.

Perspective freehand sketching has almost become a "lost art", and this class is perfect not only for students but also for design professionals, as well as for those who just want to learn to sketch and see things in a new light.

Sketching, and the careful observation that it entails is essential for the successful development of the next generation of designers. We can't underestimate the importance of being able to sketch out an idea on the fly and learning to see in a new way, especially for a visual industry.

As a teacher, I am surprised by how many artists, designers, and architects have never formally trained in perspective. Most of us had some lessons in high school or at the Art Academy, but typically those lessons more frighten then make perspective easy.

Please let me remind you that this is a beginner interior sketching class where you will master a 2-point perspective drawing from scratch, so don't hesitate, grab your pencil and paper and draw with me now!

Happy learning!

1. ✏️Introduction: Hi, I'm Olga and welcome to my first cause on skill share. I must get charges. Book author and founder, My own line school of staging. I teach interior designers and Arctic. It's haunted while the ideas by hand so they can achieve their maximum potential and create the best projects in this skill shack lost, you'll mustered two point perspective. Relinquish Scales, One of the most important skills for those who would draw and especially for interior design, is an architect for whom sketching is an essential part of their professions. Perspective is the basement for everything. The queen of Drawing, for example, in Leonard, that of Inches treaties on painting, he suggests that perspective is the first priority for a would be painter. I love perspective, sell so much, and I want to share my passion, experience and knowledge with you. At the end of this class, you'll be able to accomplish in interior rolling off a bathroom that employ leaner two point perspective depth. We will begin with some fun exercises, so you will understand perspective and finally stop struggling with it. So let's did like a perspective party. Let's play with it and don't you worry because no prior knowledge drawing experiences required these class designed for beginners, interiors and students and architects will especially benefit from this class. So I can't wait to start and share this wonderful perspective skills with you. See you in lesson one. So grab your pencil and paper and drove with me now. 2. ✏️A Simple Method to Build Perspective: Hello there. My name is Tyga and welcome to my new leader lesson in English. In this video, I'm gonna show you guys how to deal with Newborn respective here ago. So let's get started. Let's find all these vanishing foreign. It is the drawing we will accomplish during this lesson, and I will show you how you can make going perspective in really easy and fun way. So let's start by drawing of rise in line and putting some kind of vertical line somewhere in between. And let's draw to vanishing points, a one to the left and a two to the right, right? Let's so divide this line into three equal parts, and the next tab is holding a line starting from a one. For example. Off course, you guys, you can use your ruler or maybe razor if you need Teoh, but I do recommend you to use some to draw by hands because it's an excellent exercise for you. After that, we take this distance and put it to the right, and up to that, we draw wink. One more line, starting from a tool on the same manipulation. Let's take these distance this segment and put it to the left and drawing a line from left vanishing points and basically what we have now we have for a square foursquare, uh, in perspective. So I will showed in my blue pen. Now I want to draw second square using my 1st 1 Let's throw two diagonal lines. Ah, the intersection off diagonals GIF gives us ah meat point And through these meats born we once again holding choline from our vanishing point And you can see I I will use my dog Blue pen It intersects here and we connect the very left point with this new intersected one. So here we go one more intersection and through these point we drawing a line from all a to And as you can see, we have second square to make third square. We need once again to diagonal lines and off course. If you use your ruler and eraser, your drawer wink will be much more accurate. But I think you get the idea The method is really very easy or unity. There used to be really focused and ah motivated Great. Let's follow shower principles on the left side of our flooring. So once again drawing the line from a two through this meat point off the very first square we we've already done, Andi, connecting these two lines you intersection and connecting it with a one with the the line . So once again, two diagonals meet point. Yes, and through this meat point line intersection on connecting these two points. So it's really fun and easy, because all you need to do is just repeat after me on you will get these idea and what I'm gonna do now is to prolong thes lines from our vanishing point through the flooring and you go of Allah. Now we have this NYSE greet on the floor, but let's make it also on our ceiling and on the walls. So first of all, let's use our squares on the floor in their points and draw some vertical lines which are parallel to each other. And let's make the same steps to the right. So remember, they are parallel to each other. And to the very first vertical line we did remember we divided Teoh this first vertical line into three equal parts and what I like about this method that it makes really very easy and fun creating, for example, into your e perspective. So let's imagine that dozen. It is a room with seating three meters hide and each off the segment on the first to a vertical line. For example, it's one centimeter, which means that it's our scale 1 to 101 meter equals one centimeter on paper. And, uh, using this technique, we can make a very nice greet Mito greet on the floor on. After we did it, we can put any furniture, any dimensions off the furniture. Oh, it will be really very easy. And now I want to put some color on my squares, and I want to do it. Check of wise and let's like new color from all marketers. I'm using Coptic Child Mark Harris and let's put this color to the ceiling to make this drawing even more AP urine. More fun and, of course, actuals in blueish because for the City of video, my nails blue so everything is gonna be blue and maybe orange. Let's see why orange, because orange is complementary color to the blue, according to the color Well, so here ago and I wanted to check wise a zaydi dutiful my previous squares. So hope you're in Jersey Cedar on off course. Evan. Welcome you guys to my video course in English for interior designers. Check out the link down below and visit my website for more information. 3. ✏️A Fun Second Method: Hello there. My name is gonna go and welcome to my second video lessons in English. About two point perspective. This less I'm gonna be a little bit more detailed and I will talk about some very interesting points in two point perspective. So let's get started. So here is the result of all today's lesson. Let's start by creating a frame for our future drawing. Basically, you confuse any scale, any piece of paper I'm using here, a 44 months and, um, putting a horizon line now. Attention, please. Super important moment. The diagonal off our picture frame equals the distance between two vanishing point. So in my case, it's 20 centimeters. And as you can see, I'm putting these twenties into my uterus on my horizon line, and here we go, a one a two vanishing points. After that, I'm gonna place a vertical lines on where in the middle of my picture frame, but maybe a little bit closer to my second finishing point, and divide this line into three equal parts. Let's say that our ceiling equals three meters, and in my case and work, I want to work with the scale 1 to 50 which means one meter in reality equals two centimeters on my paper. And as you can see, I'm holding the lines through my vanishing points. Well, the next step is drawing a horizontal line which is parallel toe all horizon line. And these new line is gonna be a ruler. So we take these segments. In my case, it's two centimeters each, and I'm putting it to the right and and putting it to the left. So basically, we have now to rulers 1st 1 waas vertical divided into three equal parts and 2nd 1 is horizontal. Great. My congratulations. Because now we have ever think to create our great on the flooring and guys. I would say that this is the essence off two point perspective on. Actually, this method is my favorite favorite one. I'm creating all my interior wrists using in two point perspective, using the's exactly these method. So what I'm doing now is, as you can see, I'm drawing lines, putting some points of interest actions and containing holding lines, so just repeat after me. So, as you can see, all the constructions into one perspective are not that hard. Really, because all you need to do is to keep in mind this do on Lee to vanishing points and use them for each and every line in your drawing. Because these two points, they affect everything in our perspective. And the last step is the most fun, I suppose. Just selective favorite colors on great these nice check a wise greed on the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling. Each and every foursquare we created is basically a square meter on the floor, and after that you can put here any for richer you wish. So it's excellent base for your future drawing. So I hope you guys enjoyed this video. Please subscribe to my channel and check out the link down below to participate in my course Internet course, especially for interior designers season and bye for now, Have a great day. 4. ✏️A Pencil Drawing of Your Dream Bedroom: Well, hello, my dear creative student. And welcome to the first part off your class project tutorial. At the end of this class, you will be able to draw an interior for bedroom in two point perspective. But at the end of this part, you will accomplish a pencil drawing. So in terms of materials, all you will need here for the first part is basis paper and a pencil. So let's get started. I love to begin my drawing by showing a picture frame. This is basically the borders off your drooling to really help you, Teoh, break this fear off a white piece of paper and stand throwing. The next stop is showing the horizon line. Sometimes it's referred as I leveled on. Then we put out to vanishing points on the horizon line. So normally I take the diagonal off my picture frame and I put this same distance off the diagonal in between my two vanishing point. So this is the quickest and eases to eight to locate your vanishing points. Yes, there were a couple of methods where you mathematically find this exact space in between the points, but for now, let's keep it simple. next I show the corner off the room. So here you can see that my left wall is opening more because, see, majority of my objects will be located here on now. I put a scale ruler kind of. So my room is three majors high. Let's say that he will have a scale 1 to 50 which means one mitre invalid equals juice into interest on paper. On. After that you can see what I'm doing. You're already familiar with this from the previous lessons, so I simply draw lines from the vanishing points. Next, it's time to locate our protagonist. Our biggest object. It is the bad. So on my scale ruder On this corner, I find the height off the bad. So here it's 50 centimeters. So it's half a meter and he had meter. Is Justin teenagers? That's why Oh, 32 centimeters will be once and change your own paper on now. As you can see, I'm simply building the box off the bed in terms off depth. I'm not using here any particular scales. I I'm simply using my eyes. I imagine rent, but if you want to be very secure, precise, you can use the drooping that we did in the first lessons off this class where I showed you exactly how to show meters on the floor by using this line the this scale ruler horizontal scale ruler which is running through the Z remark. So please refer to the first lesson off this class. You can use this piece of paper from the first lesson and you can put it beneath this drawing so you can trace all the lines if you want to ice. And next we're drawing side table. Once again. This is a simple box, right? So first think an interior is an drawing Is we really want to see all the objects Simple geometric forms on all we want to avoid going into two mice totalization into this first stage. So now simply focusing on big forms like cubes on squares or something like that, Like simple geometric forms as I can see, hear my side table. It's likely lower than behind of them bad so you can play with it also will half a doorway here normally doorways on two meter and 10 centimeters hide. So I will find these point on my ruler. This corner and I'm I'm goingto line from 81 Probably hear allocate laid her own, um, cheer in the corner. I want to locate this nice candy Nevin style. Oh, shelf wakened poodle This magazines and so on. I'm sure you've seen something like that. E gear, for example. Andi, I really lost this in place. It is so here. My dream bedroom for this general is Scandinavian style bedroom. Maybe that's because I lived for almost three years in Copenhagen, Denmark. Sehr, really? I'm really into Danish in Scandinavian design. Right here on top, off the bad allocate painting painting probably two paintings. So again I'm using my vanishing points. I'm using the borders off the bed to align this frame so you can live it like that All as me maybe. Want Teoh split it in half. How we, dude, we show two diagonals off the rectangle for on this intersection off to diagnose Gives us the need line. And now you can see it That that so much is it to oh show to painting considered for one. I tend to show the headboard I'm using a to vanishing point to show it so you can decide on the hide of fit. Plus, I'm using this vertical lines to show its borders, and it's time to show this rose off pillows. Basically, the biggest shapes are done, probably later own. I will include a chair on a phone round, but for now l quickly sketch the rose off the pillows. And that's that's incredible addition to your drooling all this but lining bedroom deck or oh, like pillows and covers something like that. It holds in LA It'll enlivens us cage dramatically. It gives it life. Andi. It makes our space really beautifully arranged. So here, what I want to do is I want to soft in a little bit old in lines. Which off now quite are like regent, right? Quite dry. So I'm showing some curves in order to show tax style. Show this bad cover you can think of could like it a second stage that the first stage was building basic geometry of a space geometry of basic objects like cubes arranging the composition right. And now it's teach number two. When we add security, cower and decoration all these beautiful folds. Maybe I want to put a carpet in front of the bad again. As you could see it, I'm using quite to vanishing point. Quick side note. If you find this to Gerald is too fast paced. Please use Oppose Bunten and refer to it Maybe a couple of times. All right, so now the interesting part we want to place out lighting on top off this side table. So how do we do it? Don't worry. I know that it's quite fast, so I will show to you all over again. So first we find kind of midline off this length off the side tables and we drove vertical line from it until it hits the sitting climb. And then which were lined from 81 one more time will find the midline off the Mank office. I table withdraw vertical and what it hits the ceiling climb and then reuse all a one to draw another line. So now it's time to okayed our lighting. So how do we do it? We can find the intersection off to Devon. Also, flip plane like a projection plane off this side table on the floor, or simply the on a table top off this side table, and then we draw a vertical line from this point of intersection of two diagonals, and that's when we drove her to climb here. I don't want this line to be aligned with my picture like the all the left line off my picture, my friend. That's why I moved this light ink a little bit closer to the left. For the second lighting was simply use the hide, the 1st 1 So we converge this high to the vanishing point. I too, this is how we find the hide for the 2nd 1 All right. Next step is I finally finally will show this cheer so it's hide will be 50 centimeters, the same as the bads Hide first, Look what I'm doing. I'm showing its basic form, even though its shape it can look at my look quite sophisticated with all this curse. But this is the secret to drawing complicated forms thirst. We find the skeleton for all future old jokes by showing its outlines and its height. And then we can add all these lovely curves A real office chair design. I found this on Pinterest that come you might use Pinterest for inspiration as well for your dream bedroom. Maybe want to draw a classic bedroom. Or maybe Art Deco style fusion. Love to anything Herbert your heart desires and always remember to take a fort er off this stage of this pencil drawing stage on a shell is Fortier with other students off this class . Also share your progress on Instagram with the hashtag so dark in the students. This is the hashtag that my students used to Shante their drawings from my video courses. All right, so that's it for this part off for your class project I country to see in the second part where you will need a couple off college materials, it can be markers. I will personally use markers or it can be wanted Qala colored pencil literally a couple off Collis, you will need so country to see the app on Congratulations were completing the first part CEO in partisan 5. ✏️Colouring your Interior Sketch: Hi and welcome back to the second part of the cost project where we're gonna call of this beautiful interior off bedroom. I'll be using professional markers to demonstrate the coloring process. You might want to choose what you call colored pencil. Also, basically prepare a couple off Collis either from what you call up. Oh, colored pencils. So maybe also have a couple of mark yours. If you're interested in my favorite materials that I used for interiors and growing, please refer to my website or guard editing dot com slash resources. So I love to start my current era drawings with the lightest, lightest color. So here I will be using this brown on a black one. So obviously I'm starting with the lightest with brown. Yeah, I'm using its chisel knee on. Let me tell you a couple of words about professional markers like Catch, call PX chart Parks per markers, Zeke. And so on. Ah, they are really such a great material to use because there are pretty quick on day. Look, or just call us right, and you can do layering with them. So if you will like this technique as I demonstrate it, you might want Teoh pick a couple off marketers and give them a go, By the way, in my paid video courses, base and prawn basis for beginners and pro, it's like a second stop second level for advanced students. I showed exactly how to color with professional marketers how Teoh make gorgeous insurance and drew wings with professional markers so you might want to check out the program off my video courses. So here I'm simply demonstrating. The coloring process will not go very much in dumps on the technique because I want this class to be a relatively short. But I think you can clearly see that markers let you work on color really, really quickly. So even this second part off this class project, it's so much Ah, shorter in person with the first part where we did respected drawing in pencil only. And here look at how much we've already accomplished that reminds. You want the time that all the lines are converging back to the vanishing points, even the lines off this timber flooring. By the way, notice that I switched Teoh the brush, nip off the marker, and you can see how much softer lines look now and you can play with its thickness. You can press harder and get sickle line on. It's really good, especially for rendering textiles right Folds something very soft family. Something like that. All right. Now black marker accounts into play, and please notice once again, I'm using its brush. Need to show it's lovely part. Turn on this little carpet in front of the bad. That's Chelsom Ah, Stripes and some decker I reeling off this simplicity on graphic off minimalistic decker in Scranton events, talent, heroes and off course. I will use this color in different parts of my drawing. I will spread it throughout the drawing, so put it on some graphical pictures on pillows and maybe too bad line. And it's interesting. Teoh. Compare how differently before different needs, like jizz oni on brush need and the combination off our them in one drawing creeds. This interesting look off the drawing, which is very, very attractive to the eyes off the viewer because it's always interesting that when you can use different types off lines, more technical, right, more straight to the point like chisel name gives us and softer look more organic. One with this process nip and it's time for me to switch to the chisel name. Since I plan to work on this lightings and I really want this night fixtures look, uh, nice and sharp. So I'm using its white cheese allow you to achieve of this beautiful strew great graphic minds. Also, I will use it with a side table, for example. So basically it adds more precision sharpness to your drawing and you can rotate this need in your hands and achieve different thickness. Different type off line. Sometimes it even reminds me off this calligraphy pans when you put it on paper. Precise angle it will give you is beautiful differentiation off thickens. Meanwhile, we are almost done with the coloring. So basically, all we have to do now is to add some outlining for the cheer and for on the shelf in the door, Andre, that will be it for this tutorial. So you can see that even with a super duper limited color pill at right here, basically two colors and the 3rd 1 is white collar off the paper itself, we can achieve pretty good results, right? So it's also part of Scandinavian design. Very minimalistic color plaid natural tones, black Kahlo, white collar, then read in love it when I used to live when I lived in Copenhagen. In the majority of the apartments they have this Ah, nice white painted walls and it gives lots off light and spaciousness to the apartment, I guess. A closing, this literal bedroom interior. Ah, that we did. I really wanted it. It gather all the information from the class and reflected now throwing off him terrorists cage. So what I would love to see from you is an interior rolling off the bedroom that employ these leaner to born perspective that employ ducks one more time had over two Been trust. Don't come for some inspiration. All, said the aunt. Off this tutorial, I have a couple of examples self drawings made by my students, who also took this class because check out the hashtag on instant ransacking the students Teoh cut even more inspired by examples of my students and please share your progress. Ah, here in the comments below or little this skill shot cost. And of course, it's very anti recommend to frame. You're going on to add some taxed. For example, here It's cantidad, an interior in two point perspective by Olga said, I cannot so my idea creative. I hope you injured this class. Please share it with your friends. I would be super super grateful if you dio let's help people to stop struggling with respective drawing and to fall in love with perspective. Plus, I deeply believe that perspective is the queen of drawing, and it's essentially important, especially for architects and interior designers on Even in Leonard Adventures book on painting that he suggests perspective is the first priority for would be painter. All right, here's it a little little from backstage for you from recurring off this video tutorial. I really hope you enjoyed it, guys on. And as I promised, at the very end, I will share with you a couple of drawings made by my students. So, Joe, this little gallery and we can't wait to see your drawing here as well. Ray Jokey did Congratulations with completing your costs project. It was August Sorokina on right now. Thank you for watching 6. ✏️Outro: Final Words & Next Steps: Well, my dear Creative.
