Make Fun Animated Sticker & GIF Packs With Procreate Animation

1. Intro: You know those cute little digital stickers that you can use on your Instagram stories? That's what we're going to be creating together today. I'm Kelley Bren Burke. I'm a self-taught artist and animator living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I'm going to talk you through creating a variety of digital stickers with three different themes: hearts, stars, and the word yes. For example, we're going to create all of these heart animations and more. A digital sticker is simply a GIF or an animation with a transparent background. That way you can pop it on top of a photo or another image. To create these animations, I'm using my iPad and the Procreate app. I'm using my Apple pencil, but any stylus will do. Creating animations on Procreate is more fun and easy than you'd expect! And that's why I love them so much. I would consider this an intermediate class. Some knowledge of Procreate is helpful, but I'll talk you through every step along the way and I'll share tips and tricks as I go. This class comes with some great free resources, like Procreate brushes that I created for you to use in your animations. After you take this class, you'll be able to apply the concepts that you learn in many other projects. You'll be able to create your own unique animations to share on social media. Class Project & Resources: Today, I'm going to talk you through creating a variety of digital stickers with three different themes: hearts, stars, and the word "yes". I used the phrases GIF, animation, and sticker, kind of interchangeably. An animation and a GIF are exactly the same thing. A sticker is simply an animation or a GIF with a transparent background, and that way, you can pop a digital sticker on top of a photo or another image. Next, I'm going to tell you about some free resources that you can use to create your digital stickers. I created some free Procreate brushes to share with you. You can access them here, under the "Projects & Resources" tab. You do need to be on a web browser to access these freebies. They don't appear on the mobile app. We're using a glitter texture in some of the animations. I've found a pretty gold glitter image for you on Pixabay. Pixabay is a website full of free images that you can use in your artwork. I found this one by searching for "glitter." The glitter texture is also downloadable in the "Project & Resources" section of this class. Need some inspiration for stickers to create after this class? I've got you. It's a great source for inspiration if you're looking for ideas for GIFs to create. You can also upload your own animations to GIPHY. I'll pop a link with that info under the "Project & Resources" tab. I'll also show you how I use the GIPHY website to upload and share my original GIFs. I will see you in the next lesson. 3. Animation Overview & Canvas Setup: For this lesson, we are going to create our sticker canvas that we'll be using throughout the class. We will also be doing a brief animation overview in Procreate. Let's get started. To create our sticker canvas, click on the plus symbol here, and then click right here at this little folder thing, I'm going to name this canvas, you don't have to, but it helps me stay organized. We're going to do 1500 by 1500 pixels and a 300 DPI. We're going to go to the color profile. Generally procreate will default to the Display P3 color profile, and that gives you the most amount of colors available. That's a great one to use most of the time. But in GIFs, GIFs limit the amount of colors. If you don't want to be surprised by the colors in your GIF at the end, start with an sRGB color profile. Then we're going to hit "Create." Then we'll have in our canvases Sticker Square with an sRGB color profile saved here. I did the new one down at the bottom, and I call it Sticker Canvas. Since I already have one, I'm just going to delete that old one, because this is the exact same thing. I'm going to tap on it to start our animation overview. For this class, you received some brushes in the KBB Sticker Class download. I'm going to show you real quick just how you can create an animation just from using this stamp right here. I am going to choose a color. Let's just do an orange. I'm going to click on this here. I'm going to make this a little bit bigger. That is good. We have our YES in the middle of the screen, I'm centering it there. We are going to make the YES look bigger and smaller just by duplicating it and making it smaller, I will show you what I mean. I duplicated the first frame. What we're going to do now is turn on Animation Assist. So, Wrench > Animation Assist > on. Then you'll see you have this new thing at the bottom and you have frames at the bottom. Frames are exactly the same as layers up here; you can see as I'm tapping around that it's switching back and forth. What I'm going to do here is I'm going to my Settings. The settings that you'll use for animation vary. But in most cases, I like my Onion Skin Frames down to about one, and my Onion Skin Opacity at about 30. My Frames Per Second, it always start at 15. In general, I like it a little bit slower, so we'll just start with eight, but we can play around with that. We have our first YES, we have our second YES. I'm going to make my second YES smaller and center it. You can see here that with the onion skin frame effect, you can see the top frame there behind it. That's just a good guide for us as we make our animation. I duplicated the bottom YES and navigated now to the bottom layer. I'm making that YES a little bit smaller again. Here's a quick tip for Procreate. In general, you can make things smaller easily without losing quality, but you don't want to stretch things out. So, going from bigger to smaller is okay. Going from smaller to bigger can make you lose quality. I'm going to duplicate that bottom layer one more time and make it just a little bit smaller, and center it. Now we can go to the bottom and hit Play to preview our animation. That is a little bit slow, I mean a little bit fast. I like six frames per second for that. If we go to the Settings, we can see what it would look like as a Ping-Pong animation. Animations generally start as a Loop where they do the same thing over and over again. I like the Ping-Pong effect here. It'll go from start to end and then go backward. One-Shot I don't use it very often and it's exactly what it sounds like. It's just a one-shot, one and it's done. Here we have a GIF and it's a GIF because it has a background color. As soon as we remove the background color, it becomes a sticker because a Sticker has a transparent background, where the background looks exactly like everything around your canvas. Another thing we want to do when we're uploading GIFs to Giphy, which we'll cover later; we want the canvas to be as small as possible, because if you ever use GIFs or Stickers on Instagram stories, you'll see that sometimes they're really small. This is how to make your GIF as large as possible. You go to Wrench > Canvas > Crop and Resize. You can just bring it in as close as possible here. Actually, I want to make sure that I'm on the biggest YES here. If I cropped into this YES that wouldn't work. So I want to see the biggest YES there for cropping. So, Wrench > Canvas > Crop and Resize, I bringing it down, right down there. Let's just bring it in a little bit that way, every little bit helps and then hit "Done." So now we have our first animation. That was on a One-Shot and you can see that's not very fun. I'm going to put that to a Ping-Pong. I'm going to turn the Onion Skin Frames to None, so we don't get distracted by that in the background. We have here our first animation. A couple of other tricks here. If you wanted for some reason, the last YES to be on the screen for a little bit longer, you can tap on it and you could do a HolD Duration. Let's just see what it looks like for six. That gives just a slightly different effect. You can see here the last frame with the Hold Duration of six. You can see six little, kind of grayed-out, YES's following the last YES. That is just a really quick introduction to animation on Procreate. I'll be talking you through all the steps as we go along. You will learn lots more as the class progresses. I we'll see you in the next lesson. 4. Layered Heart GIF: Welcome back. In this next lesson, we are going to draw lots of heart stickers. Let's get started. I call our first sticker Layered Heart and next, I'm going to show you how to recreate this. Let's go back to our Gallery. Let's duplicate the Sticker Square template by sliding over and hitting "Duplicate". Let's open that up. I'm going to use this color palette throughout the class, but you can use any color palette you'd like. I'm choosing this kind of pinky-red color and I'm going to use the Inka. I like this brush because it's an organic-looking brush and that's the effect that we want for this sticker. I'm going to clear that and I think I'm going to bring the brush size down to about five percent. That looks good. What we're going to do is we're going to keep duplicating the top layer whenever that is, draw a new heart on top of it, and then keep going. I'll show you what I mean. Just like that, duplicated new layer, new heart that is close to the original one, but not exactly the same. We'll do that, let's do it five times. Let's see what that looks like. Let's hit "Play". I think what I want actually is for there to be a screen where there is no heart. I'm going to add a new layer here and drag it to the bottom and then see what it looks like. Our settings here are on Loop. Let's try it as a Ping-Pong, and I like that effect much better. The speed? Let's slow down a little bit. I think 11 looks good. The next thing to do is to make sure that this is cropped in nice. We're going to make sure that our Onion Skin Frames are on Max so we can see all the layers so we don't cut something off. We're going to go to Wrench > Canvas > Crop and Resize and just bring it in as close as we can here. Then hit "Done". So, we have made our first heart GIF here. So that was our first one. Let's move on to our second one. This one we are going to draw a heart and then erase it. It looks like we're drawing it on the page. We are going to grab one of our templates, bring it down to our hearts, and get started. Again, we're going to draw a rough heart. I like that one. Going to move it up a little bit here. I am going to crop my canvas; Wrench > Canvas > Crop and Resize. Too close there. We have our heart and we are going to erase away, so it looks like we're drawing it. To do that, think about how you would draw it first. I would go like that. In this one, we're going to be erasing away little bits of it and for this one, I am going to use the Inka brush to erase. I'm going to start, I'm going to duplicate this heart, navigate to the bottom one and what I'm actually going to do for this one is turn on the Drawing Guide to help us. I'm going to bring the Grid Size up to about 260, and we're going to erase away roughly like one square at a time to keep it consistent. I'm going to start down here. I'm also going to turn the Onion Skin Frames to two and the Opacity to about 30, so we can see what we're doing. Here I want to make the brush probably a little bit smaller because I want it to look natural there. That looks good. I'm going to keep going. Roughly, umm that was. Because that's at the bottom, let's not do the whole square here. We'll just go roughly to there. Then duplicate the bottom one, erase away roughly one square again. Duplicate, and keep going, erasing about one square every time. Now we have our last screen here, I could erase that, or I could just hit "Clear," so we're starting with a clear screen here. Let's hit "Play" and see how that looks. It looks good. Again, a little fast. I think about 12 looks good and we already cropped that, so we are ready to move on to the next one. 5. Wiggly Hearts GIF: This one I call wiggling hearts. Let's go back to our gallery. Recreate the sticker square template. I'm going to choose white for this one, you can choose any color you like. I'm going to use the Inca from the inking set. What we're going to do here is draw three hearts. I'm going to bring up the size to the brunt of the brush to about 10 percent and draw a rough heart, another one, and another one. What I'm going to do next is create a new layer above that and draw them the same but different. You'll do those just automatically. You won't be able to, even if you're trying to trace, there would be little variations here. One more layer, and let's see how that looks. That is obviously really fast. Let's try about eight. I like that. Just one more time is showing you to go to the Canvas, Crop and Resize. We are done. That is our wiggling hearts. Our next one is going to be a variation of this. Our variation of the wiggling hearts, I'm going to bring it down here. We are going to use the same brush, same size, and we're going to draw three hearts. In this one, they are going to appear one by one and then wiggle. I will duplicate that first layer. I'm going to use my mono-line brush to erase. That's a good erasing brush. I am going to erase the top part here. What I'm going to do is bring these, go to my settings and bring the onion skin frames to one and to about 30 percent. There I can see more easily what needs to be erased. That's erased. I am going to actually bring this down to the bottom. Duplicate the two hearts again, and erase this one. Duplicate this layer again. This time I'm going to clear it. We start with an empty frame here. Let's see how that looks really fast, too fast. You can certainly leave it like this. Or you could add the variation that we're going to add, which is creating a little wiggle. We're just doing the same thing that we did before drawing over it roughly two times. Back to the Inca brush and another blank screen. Let's do it one more time. Let's see how that looks. The wiggle is a little slow here. What I'm going to do here is have it pause on the last. Let's try having it pause here for a little bit. Let's do a whole duration of, let's just say even two and see how that looks. Let's try turning off that blank layer and seeing how that looks. Let's just try one more heart layer to get a little bit more wiggle going. I do want this bottom layer on some I'm going to click that checkbox again. That's the variation of the wiggling hearts. Let's go to the next one. 6. Beating Hearts GIF: Our next one is going to be a heart that gets bigger, and then there's these little marks to the side here. This is a quick little three-layer animation, so let's keep going. For this, we can use a heart stamp that I gave you with the class. I'm going to do this in white, but you can do any color that you would like. So I'm going to grab my white from my palette. I'm going to see how big that heart stamp is, not big enough. That's pretty good. I'm going to straighten it and make it a tiny bit smaller so I can accommodate the little things on the side. That was my KBB heart brush that you get with this class. I'm going to use the inker brush again to draw the little things to the side. I'm going to draw those actually on a new layer so we can duplicate them and have them exactly the same on both sides. Here, I'm going to duplicate these guys. Go to arrow, flip horizontal, and then just move them on over to the other side so they match for now. We are going to keep our little lines on one layer and our heart on another, and we're going to group them together by dragging them over this way and hitting group. Then we're going to duplicate the group. In this one below there, we're going to make the heart a little bit smaller and center that again, and then just redraw the lines so they get us that wiggly effect. I'm going to hit "Clear" on this layer so we have a new space for the lines. We're going to duplicate this bottom group one more time, go to the heart, make it smaller, center it, clear the line layer, and redraw those lines. Let's hit "Play" and see how it looks. Let's make it a little bit slower. We are going to use this same animation to create the next one. I'm going to go back to the gallery, duplicate this one. Next, we're going to put it with a little chat background like this one. To do that, we are going to make all of this a little bit smaller. To do that in unison, we're going to group these together and then go to the selection and then they'll all be moving in unison. It is on uniform, so that's good. Then behind here, we're going to want to draw the little chat bubble and keep that in the background. I'm going to use this pink again. I'm going to use my monoline brush, draw an oval, and I'm going to fill that in with the pink, create this little tail. This one is going to be in the background, so I'm going to tap on the red thing and put that in the background. We can see here that our heart is still too big for the chat bubble. We are going to again group these guys together and move that little heart in unison. Let's hit "Play" and see how it does. We are good since we have the background toggled on here. The red chat stays steady in the background and the heart moves. We're just going to crop this, and we are done. 7. Pink Heart Ping Pong GIF : I call this sticker pink heart ping-pong and that is actually hard to say, pink heart ping-pong. I will show you how to recreate this one. I am going to use this pink again. For this animation, I'm going to use my monoline brush and it's going to be colored in. There's my heart. I don't think I want these little edges. I still have my Inka brush as an eraser and this time I do want to switch to monoline. I made my heart tiny bit bigger there and I'm going to create a new layer. Actually, I'm going to start with a pale pink and this way we'll go from light to dark, instead of from dark to light. I'm going to go to the next layer and draw another heart on top of it. This is important. If you color drop from this layer, then because of the opacity settings, you're not getting the right color at all. To pick up the right color, you need to navigate to the original layer and pick up the color there. We're going to drag it down into the right and we are going to make another heart on top of that that is very similar again, but just a little bit different and that's going to create a wiggle. We have this color and we bring it and make it a little bit darker, new layer, new heart, and again, we're going to do this about, I don't know, we'll see, about eight times. I'm seeing that my variation is all like at the top so I'm going to try to make it varied in a different way. Let's see how that looks. Really fast, I'm going to turn my onion skin frames off to get the full effect. I like it, it is bugging me, this weird little tail, so I'm just going to erase them. Let's try that. That looks good. That's the effect we want. That's a loop. If you want to see what ping-pong would look like, I think I like that one better. That's why I called this one pink heart ping-pong. Let's go to crop our canvas. First, let's make sure that our onion skin frames are back to max so we don't crop out one accidentally. We are done with that pink wiggling heart ping-pong. On to the next. This one, I call heartbreaker. We have five hearts that are popping on the screen. This is our last heart animation and we are going to use our heart stamp brush again and we're going to draw five hearts on the screen and we're going to vary the sizes a little bit so it looks a little bit interesting and this stamp brush will naturally change the angles a little bit there. What we're going to do for this one is we are going to duplicate this and work on the top layer for this one. What I'm going to do is erase a bottom heart here. Let's do the smallest one and then redraw. I'm going to use the Inka brush again. There are little five deals here to make it look like there's some action going on and then we are going to duplicate the layer each time and then make one change to it. In this one, we are going to just erase our little lines here and then duplicate the layer and we will erase this big heart up here. I am going to bring the settings down for the onion skin so we can see clearly what's going on. See, right now, I can see that I did not erase that one well. Here's some little pieces here that I want to make sure that are erased. The one action for this screen is we are racing that heart and then we duplicate it and we create our little lines. Duplicate that, erase our lines. You can still see that thing down there. Because you're duplicating each time you want to make sure that everything really is erased well. Duplicate one more time. Let's go back down and erase this guy. Duplicate, draw five lines, erase those, duplicate. We're going to erase this guy and then we're going to draw five lines, duplicate, erase the lines, duplicate, and now we have our last heart which we're going to erase. I'm going to actually add a new layer at the very bottom so there's a blank layer to start and let's see how this looks. That looks good. I think that speed is actually good. I don't know if we actually want that blank screen at the top. Maybe what we want is to navigate to the topmost layer and put a hold on that of book three, let's see how that looks. When an animation doesn't look right, a lot of the times, I can make it look better by just doing that, going to the first or the last screen and creating a blank screen or by extending the whole duration. That was lots of hearts. The next thing we are going to do is lots of stars. I will see you in the next lesson. 8. Rotating Gold Star GIF: In this lesson, we are going to draw lots of stars. Let's go to this Gold Star and hit "Play". We are going to be creating this rotating star that's wiggling a bit. Let's get started. For this one, let's just use the KBB Studio Pen. To help us create this star, I'm going to start by drawing a circle, and I'm going to edit the shape and hit "Circle" here. I'm going to take the Selection tool and make sure it's in the center here. That's good enough. It doesn't have to be perfect. This circle is going to hold our star. It's just going to help us create it. I'm creating a new layer above that. But I'm just going to turn down this circle, so we just have it as a rough guide, that's not ultimately going to be in the animation, and I'm going to see, I'm at about 15 percent here. I think that's good. What I'm going to do is just create a star kind of thing. I'm going to bring these lines out to the edge of the circle, and then I'm going to make, each time I'm going through the center of the circle, and then I'm going to make more lines that are a little bit shorter just to get a little variation here. I think that looks good. What we're going to be doing this time is rotating our star 45 degrees to the right every time. Let me show you what I mean. We're going to duplicate it. This one is pretty easy. We're going to go to that arrow at the top, grab this green nodule and then rotation, you can see it will show you how far you rotating. We're rotating 45 degrees every time, and we're going to do that seven times so it will be a full 360. We're going to duplicate that one more time in the bottom, selection arrow, another 45 degrees to the right, duplicate again. Selection tool, 45 degrees. We're going to do that three more times. Now I'm going to turn the Onion Skin Frames to one, and 30 percent. Again, 45 degrees. We have seven layers, let's see how that looks. That looks good, I like the speed. I'm going to crop that just a little bit so I am going to bring the Onion Skin Frames to max, Pause, Wrench, Crop, and Resize, and we are done. That is our spinning star. That's a white variation of our spinning star. If we wanted to do that in gold, I'll show you how to do that next. I'm just going to duplicate this to start, and I'm going to group our bottom ones together for an easy delete. I'm going to hit a layer above there. I'm going to import this gold glitter that we got from, I think it was from Pixabay. The link is in the Class Resources. It's not quite big enough, so we're going to duplicate that. We are going to flip vertical so it matches, and we are going to match that up. If we pinch them together, we'll be able to see there's a nice seamless look here. We are going to make this a clipping mask over the star. We're going to group this and what we're going to do is duplicate this again. I always like to keep an original one here and turn it off before I merge these two to make it one gold star, I'm going to bring this up. I'm going to duplicate that old layer because we don't need that, and then we would carry on in the same way, Duplicate, Arrow, 45 degrees, and I'll just do that again real quick. Here we have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 layers. Let's hit "Play", and there we have our gold spinning star. Onto the next, this one is a variation of spinning stars, and I will show you how to recreate this one. For this one, let's try it the KBB Studio Pen. That's a little thin, I'm going to bring it up. Let's try 11. That looks good. I'm going to make three stars here. Each one, I'm going to start with an X. I'm going to want a little variation in these, and so I'll make these guys a little bit shorter and then I'm going to make this star at the bottom a little bit bigger, and then one more. That looks good. I'm just going to grab this arrow and just center it a little bit. We are going to keep all of these stars on the same layer and we are going to duplicate them. We are just going to spin the whole layer around 45 degrees. Let's go to the right and 45 degrees. For this one, we definitely do not want to see all the star, so Settings, Onion Skin Frames, none and we'll keep going. Duplicate the bottom one, move it 45 degrees to the right, and keep going about seven times. Rotating the bottom one, oops, that was 60, 45 degrees. Here we have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 layers. Let's hit "Play". Here they are moving counterclockwise and just spinning around in a circle. Let's bring the frames per second down. That looks good. It's pretty cropped, it's pretty close to the edges. Let's just see if we can bring it in at all. Let's bring the onion skin frames to max and hit "Pause" here. We could crop just a tiny bit of the bottom here. Other than that, we're good. There are our three spinning stars. Let's go on to the next one. 9. Smaller & Bigger Stars GIF: This one I call smaller, bigger stars. We're making these stars, as you might guess, bigger and smaller. We are going to use a different star brush here. I can see here that it's labeled Heart 2, but let's call this our diamond stars. I'll change the name. In this one I'm going to make five diamonds stars. We have this big star in the middle. Make that smaller, because other one is smaller. It always looks more interesting if there's an odd number of things. That's why I have five stars here. That is pretty good and what we're going to be doing here is duplicating this layer and using our Selection Tool to make the stars bigger and smaller. This one we will make bigger, just tiny bit bigger. We're going to select the middle one and make that a little bit smaller, and we're just going to randomly change the size. Some of them will be getting smaller and some of them will be getting bigger. That one smaller, and this one bigger. Let's just see what it looks like. That could be a sticker all on its own, but let's just keep going. Going to take this layer, I'm going to change the onion skin frames to one and just randomly start making things smaller and bigger. This one I'm going to make bigger, this one smaller, this one bigger, and this one smaller. Let's just duplicate this one more time. Let's randomly make things smaller and bigger. Start with a big guy, make it smaller again. Let's make this one bigger, smaller, bigger, and smaller. Here we go. We have our five stars that are getting bigger and smaller. I think it would actually look cute if you had a few more. If you had a little bit more time, I would probably add a couple more stars in here just to make it a little bit more interesting, and then you would just be making those smaller and bigger in the same way, but that is that animation. I call this one wiggling stars, let's duplicate that one. We are going to use our KBB Star brush for this one. Let's bring it to about 35 percent, we're going to have one star, big star to the left, and we are going to add a new layer. Do a smaller star over here, new layer, and it will change the size again. That looks good. I'm going to group these three stars together, and I'm going to take this group and I'm going to make sure it's pretty much centered, and then I'm going to duplicate the group and we're just going to wiggle the stars randomly. We're going to start with this first one, we'll rotate it 15 degrees that way, second one, rotate it 15 degrees the other way. This one, 15 degrees that way, and we're going to do that one more time. In that one the point of the star is off the page a little bit, so I'm going to move it over. Maybe I'll make it a little bit smaller too, just for a little bit more variation. Let's see how that looks. Let's turn down the frames per second. There we are at about eight, and there are our wiggling stars. Let's go to Settings, our onion skin frames are max, and let's crop our Canvas. Wrench Crop and Resize. We'll just change it a little bit that way, and we are done with our wiggling stars. 10. Ombré Star GIF : For this one, we are doing an arm brace star effect in ping-pong animation. Let's recreate this one. I have the size at about 44 percent, that is good. I want my star straight for this one. I actually do not want this one completely centered because we're going to be growing it to the left here. Let's make our star blue. Let's duplicate that star. Let's just pull the color a little bit to the right and down, fill this layer, and then move it to the left and a little bit over. I'm going to grab my monoline and just connect these edges. It's not working because it's on alpha lock here so I have to an alpha lock that. I have my blue and I'm going to color-drop that. I'm going to grab my eraser and erase away these little edges. I'm just going to keep connecting these lines. Draw a line underneath there so it connects. We can color-drop, connect these guys. There we have our shadow of the star. Now that we have that, we're just going to keep duplicating the shadow and making it a little bit darker. Alpha lock the layer and move it in the same way so it lines up there. One more time. I saved it, it's two more times. Alpha lock the layer with a darker blue. We might be running out of space. I'll show you how to fix that. What we're going to do is we're going to grab our stars here. Since they're all highlighted, they will all move in unison with our selection tool and that looks good there. I'm going to duplicate the bottom one more time, make it a darker blue alpha lock the layer. Drag it over. I'm going to bring it down a little bit because I want this to line up here. If you just tap here at the bottom in any direction, it will move it really subtly. I can see here that these aren't lined up perfectly, but that's okay. That one at the bottom is bothering me so I'm going to move it. One tap there. Let's turn our background color off. This whole thing, the angle is a little weird. Again, I'm going to group these and just rotate the whole thing a little bit. Yeah, I like that better. Then center it that way. Good. We're going to create a group here of our stars and we are going to duplicate that and we are going to turn off one layer each time at the bottom. I'm turning off the darkest layer, duplicate again. The darkest layer is still off and I'm turning off the second darkest, duplicate again. I'm turning off the middle one. Let's just test and see how that looks. I just want to see what that looks like. Animation Assist on play. Yeah, that looks good. This is going to be ping-pong. Navigating to the bottom again, duplicate that, turn off the second lightest. That is going to be our first layer. Let's see how that looks. Let me slow it down and turn the onion skin frames off. I have a blank frame down here, which I'm going to turn off and see. I think I'm going to like that better. Yeah, this way the blue star is always there in the front, the palest one. Then the shadows are ping-ponging behind it. That is our arm brace star. This is the fun one. I call it shooting star. Let me turn on the background so you can see it better. This star is a gold star that's going to be moving around the page. Let's recreate that. Let's just use yellow for now. But it doesn't matter because we're going to be doing an overlay. I'm going to make it a little bit smaller, so we have room for our stippling brush. Here is our stippling brush in that it comes free with the class. I'm going to do a new layer, pull it behind my star, and grab a stippling brush and just make these little whatever they are. I'm going to group them together so we can see them together. What we are going to do here is we are going to add a layer. We are going to insert wrench, add, insert a file, insert our glitter. That was available in the class downloads. I'm going to do a clipping mask over my star. I'm going to duplicate the gold texture again and do a clipping mask on top of the, let's just call it stardust. I'm going to bring that down. We're good. Everything is golden here. What we are going to do here is duplicate this group. We're going to turn this one off so we have it. Now I'm going to merge these guys together because they will be moving in unison together. I'm going to merge the first two layers by pinching them together. The star and the glitter. I'm going to merge the second two layers and I'm going to actually merge these guys together now. I'm going to bring them up to the top in this group is not empty. I'm going to delete it. Here we have our star that is going to be moving around the canvas. I'm going to make it smaller. We are going to be going to the left on this one. What I'm going to be doing? I can clear this layer, duplicate this, grab this, move the star down. We're going to be moving at about the same length every time. There will be about this much space in between it. We want to make sure that we don't cut off our little stardust there at the edge. What we're going to be doing to give it a slightly different look each time to make it look like the stardust is moving, is we're going to be using our liquefy tool. We are going to go to the magic wand, liquefy. Here I have a push and my size is at 36 percent, my pressure is at 25. I have no distortion. My momentum is at about 50 percent. I'm going to use this to just move my stardust around as I go. It doesn't look static. I'm going to duplicate the bottom one. Go again. Tilt it a little bit. It's right here. I'm going to go to a magic wand, liquefy, and move that again. Duplicate, twist it a little here, move it. My stardust isn't cut off. Magic wand do a little bit liquefy. I'm trying to liquefy the stardust here, but I actually liquefied that little bit of the star. I want to undo that and make sure that I'm liquefying only my stardust. Go to the bottom, duplicate, grab my arrow, so I can move it here. In this one, it's helpful to be able to see the other layers so we can see how it's going around. Let's see how this looks. That looks good. We have our fun shooting star. If we turn off the background color, it will make it a sticker. Let's see how that looks. Let's make it a little bit faster. Let's try eight. That was good. That is our shooting star animation. I will see you in the next lesson. 11. Five-Star Review GIF : I call our next one, five-star review, let's recreate it. I'm going to grab yellow, you can choose any color you'd like. I'm going to grab my KBB star stamp and that's actually a pretty good size because I want it to be five across the screen, so I'm going to duplicate that one and I am going to move it that way. I'm going to merge these guys, I'm going to make these a little bit smaller, I'm going to duplicate them. I'm just going to turn my drawing guide on here and I'm going to make the grid a little bit bigger so I can make sure that they're lined up. I'll make the drawing guide a little bit darker so you can see it. This layer right here, I need to bring up a little bit, so they're all touching that line, that looks good. I'm going to merge these guys together, I'm going to make them just a little bit smaller still, because we still need one more star for our five-stars. I'm going to take my selection tool circle around here, three fingers down, copy, and then three fingers down, paste, so I have that one star that I have isolated and I'm bringing it over here. I'm going to pinch them together so our stars are on one layer, and this one I am going to crop my canvas right away. These stars aren't going to be wiggling or anything, so we can bring it in close, we don't have to worry about that, and I'm going to hit "Done." What we're going to be doing is just erasing one star away at a time, so I duplicated the top layer and navigated it to the bottom layer, I have my eraser here, monoline, and I'm just erasing this, and what I want to do again is bring the onion skin frames to one and the opacity to about 30 percent, so 20 percent, that's fine, so I can make sure that I'm erasing everything and I don't leave any stragglers. We have our four-stars duplicate that layer and navigate to the bottom, erase the fourth star, duplicate again, erase the third, duplicate the bottom layer, hit "Clear," so we start with nothing and let's see how that looks, super fast, but other than that, good, so this is at six frames per second. I think I want to hold it on the last frame of the five-stars, so let's try a whole duration of four, let's make it three, so whole duration here for three, and let's hit "Play." I like that. The settings there are seven frames per second with a whole duration at the end of three. Okay. On to the next one. This one is another like five-star review that has wiggling stars above lettering or a font, and I will show you how to duplicate that one. Let's go to our sticker square template that we did before, make sure we're on the layer that has five-stars, and three finger swipe down to copy, and then we go to the gallery, get a blank square template, bring it down, open that up, and then three fingers down, hit "Paste," it's going to remember from the other thing and here we want it to be white, so we're going to Alpha lock white, fill layer. Good. That makes it a little bit easier, we know we're going to want those a little bit smaller to fit the word, so I'll just make that a little bit smaller. I am going to go to wrench, add, add text, and I'm going to type in review here. I want the font to be different, so I have a lot of fonts in here, you can use any font that you would like for this one. Let's just try island tea, let's see how that looks, and what it needs to be, if you tap on here twice, then you can be editing your font, so I go to these A's and what I'm looking for is a big R to fit around the words. This font is called KA darling, I got it on Creative Market, I'll link it in the class description. But again, you can use any font that you would like. What I'm going to do is I'm going to make this review as big as I want it to be and then I'm going to take our stars and make them smaller, I like that. What I'm going to do is I'm going to put the review in the foreground, so it'll always be there, so I'm going to tap here and turn review on, so that's going to hold steady throughout the thing and then our stars are going to be moving. What I'm going to do here so we can wiggle our stars is I am going to separate them here, so I am going to cut and paste each star. Now that stars are on a different layer, and I'm going to do that for all of them. Selection tool, three-finger swipe, cut and paste, navigate to the three stars, and then this last one, and I'm going to delete this empty layer here, and so here we have our five-stars. I'm going to group them together, I'm going to duplicate them. So I'm going to go to my first star, I'm in a wiggle it 15 degrees to the right. I'll go to the middle, maybe I'll do that 15 degrees to the right, the end one, 15 degrees to the right. Duplicate, let's take the second one. The second star 15 degrees to the left, and the fourth star 15 degrees to the left. Let's just see how that looks right now. I think that looks good. So here we have our wiggling stars above our review. This is one we're definitely going to want to crop because we have so much space at the top and the bottom, so wrench canvas, Crop and Resize, and we are done. I will see you in the next lesson. 12. Handwritten Yes GIF : Hi. Welcome back. I call this section lots of yes. Let's get started. We are going to do a handwritten yes to start. This is what it's going to look like. I'm going to choose a hand-lettered type of font and I'll show you what to do. Let's go back to the gallery, duplicate our sticker square template. I'm going to drag this down here. It's next to the original. I'm going to go to wrench, add text, and type in yes exclamation point. I'm going to double-tap that so I can edit the font. This is a font called Florence. That's really pretty. I am going to use that. You can use any font that you would like. I'm going to see what this looks like with a lowercase y. I prefer that. Let's make this big. For yours, as I said you can use your own hand lettering. You can use any font that you'd like. I'm going to duplicate this yes, and keep it in the background there. It's there if we need it. What I'm going to do with this yes, is I'm going to rasterize it. It will just become shapes on the page rather than the text. It's not editable. That's what it looks like here in the frames. I'm going to delete this extra layer because we don't need it. I'm going to copy the rasterized text layer. Then I'm going to start erasing in the opposite direction of how it was written. If you would write yes, you would start like that and end with exclamation point. I'm going to start with the end of the exclamation point and just start erasing. I'm using the monoline as an eraser. I'm going to go to my settings and I'm going to turn my onion skin opacity down so I can see what I'm doing to about 30 percent and the onion skin frames we'll keep at two. I started by erasing that little dot. I'm going to duplicate, navigate to the bottom layer. I'm going to erase half of that exclamation point. Duplicate, go to the bottom, erase. Let me make my eraser a little bit bigger and duplicate. We have done this type of animation in this class already. So I'm going to speed this up while I erase. We are at our bottom one. I'm duplicating the last one and then I'm just going to hit clear to clear that layer. Let's see what that looks like. That looks good. I'm going to add some frames at the end of the animation. I'm going to tap the last frame and give it a whole duration. Let's try eight to see what that looks like. My frames per second are 15. Let me try 12 or 11. That's fine. It's a little slow I think. I have that at 14 with the whole duration of eight and I think that looks good. Let's move on to our next one. Our color-changing yes. I'm going to show you what that's going to look like. The font I used in this one was Amatic Sc bold, which is a free Google font. You can use that one if you'd like. I might try a new one for my new GIF. I'm going to go to wrench, add text, type yes exclamation point Going to double-tap that, yes so it's selected. Here's a font I use a lot it's called highway. I'm going to adjust the tracking, so there is more space between my letters. That way I can change the colors easily that they won't be touching each other. The tracking here is about eight percent. Here, you'll see that tracking adjust the space between all of the letters here. Let's make this really big. For this, maybe I'll use yellow. I'm going to choose different shades of yellow for this. I'm going to duplicate my yes. I'm going to turn off the original. I'm going to again rasterize my text and I'm going to alpha lock and change all the colors to this light yellow. Let's see how this looks. That looks good. Then I'm going to go one by one and just color drop different shades of yellow here. Now that we have our three colors that we're using, I'm just going to add them to the palette here, so they're handy if we need them. What we're going to do is duplicate that, yes. It doesn't have to be alpha locked anymore. We're just going to keep going through the colors. Our last one was this gold. I'm going to move the gold over to the y. Then after that dark yellow, we will have the lightest yellow and the second lightest yellow and so on. We're going to duplicate that one more time. Go to the bottom one, and now we are on the third darkest yellow. I'm going to move that over to the y. Let's see how that looks. That is really fast. I think that looks good. We could add one more frame here, just so all of the colors are represented. Now the exclamation point is going to become the lightest color. I think that looks really good. I think the speed is pretty good. It's on a loop. We could try and see what a ping-pong looks like. I think that looks good too. It's just whatever you prefer. I'm going to pause that there. I'm going to crop the canvas. It's snug around my words here, wrench canvas, crop and resize and I'm just going to pull this down here. There we have our [inaudible] ray, yes. Let's move on to the next one. 13. A Big Yes GIF : I call this one big yes. It's just a yes that gets bigger and smaller. You can hand letter it, or I also gave you guys a yes stamp with the class. Duplicate our template, drag it down to our big yes, so it's there. Here are two different yes stamps that you can use. Let's use yellow again. That is good. This one will be the biggest yes. I'm going to crop the canvas here, French canvas, "Crop and Resize". This is a really easy peasy animation. What we're going to do is just make this a little bit smaller. We'll do that four times. Just grab the selection tool, bring it in. When you're doing this, when you're adjusting sizes, it's always better to start big and then make your things smaller as you go. That way, you're not stretching out the pixels and getting a weird pixelated look. This is our big yes, and it is a loop. Let's try ping pong. I like that even better. I think the speed is nice at 15. That was a really easy peasy little gift for you guys. Back to the gallery. We're going to keep going. What we're going to do next is, I'm going to show you how you would put your big yes in chat sticker like this. What you would do for this is you can just duplicate your Yes GIF and then add a chat bubble in the background. I'll just show you how to do that real quick. Duplicate the yes. Since we don't have a lot of room here for our chat bubble, I am going to select all of these, grab the selection tool so they'll change all at the same time. I'm going to move it over like this a little bit. I'm going to add a new layer, drag it to the bottom. This will be our background layer, so I'm going to toggle background on here. I think I'm going to choose a white for our text box and I'm going to use the KBB big monoline. I am going to turn the onion skin frames off and just make sure that this biggest yes is selected. I'm going to navigate to the background layer. I'm going to draw an ellipse here. I'm going to color fill it with white. I'm going to make the little chat tail. This is probably going to be a little bit too small for the texts, but we shall see. Yeah, that's our biggest yes, and it's outside the bubble, so we're going to change the size again. We're going to group just all the yeses together and make them fit within our chat bubble. The chat bubble is toggled on to the background and let's hit "Play". That looks good. There is our easy variation of our big yes. I will see you in the next lesson. 14. Colorful Yes GIF : This next one we're going to use the stamp again. I'm doing mine with a variety of colors and I'm filling up this page like that. You don't want to get your yeses too small. If you're using your sticker on Instagram, they get really small, so it's going to be really hard to see the smallest yeses and they'll probably get pixelated. Just keep that in mind. I am just going to choose this palette right here, and I am going to use this thicker yes stamp. I'm going to start with a yes in the middle. I think that's a good size. If you want the yeses to be angled, just angle your canvas a little bit. The sample stamp, like straight across the page unless you angle your canvas. You grab a little green. I'm just going to use those same colors again and just do little yeses around there. I don't like these yeses being on top of each other, so I was just trying to get this one right. What I'm going to do actually is just move this guy over so I can have more room for my last yes. I think that looks good. What we're going to do is we're just going to erase one yes at a time. This will be easy peasy. This first green, I'm going to go to the settings and bring the onion skin opacity down. It's 30 percent so I can make sure that I can really see what I'm erasing here. I started erasing on my top layer and I really want my top layer to be the one that's full of yeses and my bottom layer to be the one that has the yeses disappearing. I'm bringing that to the bottom. I am erasing my blue yes. Duplicates. Erase saying, let's erase my green yes. Duplicates. I am going to erase my yellow yes. Let me bring up my eraser a little bit since this doesn't need to be detailed work. Duplicate, and I'm just going to keep going erasing one yes at a time. Now we are down to our last yes. I'm going to clear the last frame and let's see how that looks. I think that looks good. I'm going to pause it. I'm going to navigate to the last frame, tap on it, and I'm going to add a whole duration there, of about eight and let's see how that looks. I think that looks good. We could probably crop the canvas a little tiny bit. I'm on my first yes screen here, so I make sure I don't cut off any of those things. I'm going to just bring this in just a little tiny bit. The stickers on Instagram do get so small that it's really important to crop it so you get the best, largest results and you can always make it smaller from there. Let's move on to our next one. Now this one's fun. I call this one jumping yes. Let's hit "Play". This is another easy one. This font I'm using right here is, I think it's Highway. Yeah, it's Highway. I'll use a font that comes with Procreate instead for the next one. We just want a blocky font and there's one that comes with Procreate, it's Futura and it has a bold option, we'll use that instead. This is another easy one and I will show you how to do it. Wrench and text. I am going to type "Yes". I'm going to select that, change the font to Futura, bold. I'm going to make that bigger. Make sure all my text is selected and then I'm going to make that all caps by toggling on this TT thing right here. My other one was white, so this time, I will do "Edit Text". I'll just choose a different color, feeling yellow today. Let's do yellow again. I'm going to duplicate this one, delete that extra layer, toggle off the original, rasterize our top text layer. Then we're just going to be using the liquify tools to stretch that yes out. Let's go down to our settings and turn our onion skin frames to two, our onion skin opacity to about 25. I'm on that top rasterized layer. I am going to go to Magic Wand, toggle down to liquify. Right now, I am on push with a size of 51 percent, a pressure of 40, no distortion, 48 percent momentum. This is something that you can really play around with because there's no perfect settings for those. Let's just try it as it is right now. What we're doing is we're just stretching out this yes subtly. Let's see how that looks just to start. The bottom layer isn't done. I'm going to duplicate that, turn off this, and then just hit, so then it just jumps up a little tiny bit. I am going to duplicate our top yes. Magic wand, "Liquify". Spring it up a little bit and do it one more time. I'm going to show you another way you could get a similar result. I'm on this top one, and I'm tapping this arrow, and I'm going to warp over here, and there's an Advanced Mesh option. What you could also do to get a similar result is to just make the top of it a little bigger and wider. Let's see how that looks. I think that looks good. I think it looks like a very enthusiastic yes. Let's just do it one more time. Let's do our mesh option again. Arrow, "Warp", "Advanced Mesh". I think I'm going to do this one as a ping-pong. Let's see how that looks. That looks good. It's a little distorted at the top, so I either liquified a little bit too much I think, or perhaps it would have been better and a little bit more subtle to use the Advanced Mesh option. Either way, I think it looks good. Let's crop our canvas from the top one, which is the biggest one, the biggest yes, or the tallest one, you know what I mean. We are done. That is a jumping yes. I will see you in the next lesson. 15. Ombré Stacked Yes GIF : This one I call ombre stacked YES. Let's look at this one, this font is phosphate that I like a lot. What we want here is a chunky font. Let's use Futura Bold again, that's a nice one. You have to tap on this tab and have it selected, make it all caps, go to Futura, Bold, make the text box bigger. I'm going to have this fit three times. I think that'll be good, going to duplicate that, delete that bottom layer, rasterize my top layer. I'll stick with my yellows again. I'm going to make that my lightest yellow. Duplicate that, go to my third darkest yellow fill layer. That one below there. Duplicate one more time, bring down my YES, and make that my darkest. It's actually gold. Let's group them together, and let's go to that group and make sure it's centered. We have a little room to crop our canvas here because our words aren't going to be getting any bigger. We are just moving the colors down from light to dark. I'm going to duplicate this one, go to my top layer, and I'm going to start by making the middle YES the lightest yellow. I don't want to do it that way actually, I'm going to fill both layers. Then that's going to be my middle yellow, and this is going to be my gold. One more time, here the gold is going to be in the middle. This is going to be the lightest yellow, looks the colors are moving down. My middle yellow here, for the top layer. Let's see how that looks, it looks fast. Let's bring that down, I'm going to turn off the onion skin frames so we can see it more clearly. I think that looks good, let's try it as a Ping-Pong. I don't think I like that. This actually, I'm realizing I did it a little bit differently from that other one, it's still cool, but let me see what we did with the other one. What I did with that one, as I turned off the layers and I'll show you how to do that too. I think they're both cool. We have this one that looks like this, which I like, and then if we wanted just a little bit of variation, I'll show you how to do that real quick. I'm going to duplicate this one, we're going to stick with the original one, so we're going to delete the other ones. We have our light to dark original one. We're going duplicate that one, and we are going to turn off the bottom gold, YES, and then we're going to duplicate that one, and then we're going to turn off the middle, YES. Then we'll see how that looks when we hit "play". I think I also want maybe a blank screen to start, and then I want to hold the last one for a little bit, let's try. I'll hold a duration of five, let's see how that looks. Speed it up just a little bit. That is at six, I like that. Those are two different ways you could get an ombre stacked YES effect. One more guys and we are going to be using the same font. I am going to duplicate our last YES. I'm going to go here, delete everything except for our original, YES. This one is actually pretty quick easy. I didn't show you how we're doing it, I'll show you. Here we have our glittery YES!, and I have it here in white as well, polar fills with white. This looks tricky, but it's actually a lot easier than you might think. We are going to go to our, YES, we're going to go to Edit texts. We're going to double-tap on this, it's all selected. We are going to navigate here and we are going to click this little O here, so we get an easy outline of our font, and this is a great trick to use. We are going to grab the glitter texture that we used earlier. Wrench, Add, so I have this saved in my file, and here is the glitter that we got from Pixabay. I'm going to make this clipping mask onto the YES!, so it is applied thereto that. I'm going to group these together, and I am going to rasterize my yes, and I'm going to make that a reference layer. Then I can add a frame above or below it, it doesn't matter. It's going to remember that outline that we had, and I can fill it here. What we're going to be doing here, is we're going to be erasing away a little bits of the YES!, so it appears to be filling up. Let's start by cropping our canvas. Let's turn animation assist back on. Put this yes, in the Foreground actually. That will hold steady while our letters are changing. We're going to duplicate that first pink YES!, I'm actually going to turn on my Drawing Guide, use that as a reference for how much I'm going to erase. It can be consistent and not have to think too hard. I have my grid size here at 79 pixels, and I'm going to be erasing away. Let's do about half a square every time. Duplicate, navigate to the bottom, erase again. Duplicate the bottom one, clear this layer, and let's see how this looks, I'm going to turn off the Drawing Guide because we don't need that. I think that looks good. I don't think I'm going to change anything other than put a hold on this last pink layer. I always do a whole duration of four to start, let's see how that looks. I think that looks good, so that is our last YES!. I will see you in the next lesson. 16. Upload to GIPHY: Here, I'm going to show you how to upload a GIF to GIPHY. Now, I just created this quick sticker using my KBB "YES!" Stamp. It's just a simple little GIF with a yes getting bigger and smaller, so it's a ping-pong GIF. I am going to export it by going to Wrench, Share, Share Animated GIF, and I'm going to hit Export, and that's going to go right to my camera roll. Next, we're going to go to GIPHY. The website is giphy.com. This is a search engine for GIFs, and it connects to Facebook and Instagram, and other places. Here, you'll see that I have an artist channel on GIPHY. We can go to my dashboard. These are some of my most popular GIFs and stickers here and some of them we created in this class together. You can use any of my GIFs or stickers. You can find them by searching for Kelleybb or Kelley Bren Burke when you are in Instagram Stories. Here, we're going to upload that latest GIF together and we're going to choose a file and it's in my photo library here and I'm going to add it. What I always do is make sure I add a source URL, which is my website and my GIFs and stickers are always G-rated. I will start by typing first Kelley Bren Burke and Kelleybb, so I can find them easily when I'm looking to use them in Facebook and Instagram. I'm going to hit Upload to GIPHY. There it is. If you wanted to see all of the GIFs I have available on GIPHY. You could go to my channel. Here I have different collections such as happy birthday, hearts, love it, stars, yes, arrows, swipe up. Here are all of my GIFs here. I've been doing more stickers than GIFs lately because, well, for this class, and they seem to be a lot more popular. That was just a quick overview to GIPHY.
