2. Pricing Plans: The great thing about male chimp is they have a lot of different pricing plans in place for whatever level of business that you have. No, the plan that most of you are probably going to use at first unless you have already built in email list or built in audience is the free plan Now. I thought the free plan actually only came up to 1000 subscribers, but actually is 2000 subscribers. I think they might have changed out recently, so the free plan allows you to have up to 2000 subscribers and allows you to email 12,000 times per month. So that's a lot of emails, and then they also have their pay plans. They have the group plan, which starts at 10 bucks per month, and then the pro plan, which starts a 199 per month. Now most of you probably aren't going to using the pro plane unless you have a low security , have a pretty big misses, and you need to be sending a lot of emails and a lot a lot of advanced email marketing features, so most of you probably is gonna be in the free plan or in the growth plan. Now, what's the difference between the free plan and the growth? The rough plan? Well, to be honest, there is really not much to be, to be honest, The biggest difference that I see that I personally experienced between these two plans is just the email of per month. Sometimes, if you have 2000 email subscribers around 2000 and you're emailing them every day, multiple times a day or something like that, the 12,000 emails per month might not be enough. So that might be when you wouldn't want to upgrade to the rough plan. Something else that they have that notion talks a lot about is sometime optimization. So basically, this is when no chimp calculates the best time for you to send your emails based on your historical NATO, and I haven't really had too much success with this, So it's not really a future that I would really worry too much about, Um, so it's the feet. The free plan in the growth plan, for the most part, are pretty much the same. Now, if you're interested in calculating your estimated cost per month in the under the roof plan. They have a calculator for that so you can calculate just based on the prescribers that you have. So let's say you have 3000 Describe er's. You expected to be paying about 50 bucks per month. See if you have 1200. You'll be paying about 20 bucks per month. So the calculator is a great way to estimate how much you can expect to pay on their milk ships paid pricing plans.
3. Signing Up For Mailchimp: The really great thing about male chimp over other Imo subscribers is they actually offer a free plan. They offer a free plant if you have to 1000 emails of vibrators, so we have to do to sign up. For that is, just go to the website male chimp dot com and click on Senate for Free, and you'll need to intern your infirm. Eight your information, your email, use name and passport to get started. The whole process will take about five or 10 minutes. Now the important thing to keep in mind when you're starting your email marketing service is you need a physical address, and this is for anti spam law, especially in the US It's called the Can't Ban Act. Anyways, you required to have a physical address associated with your email account, and I would advised usually against using your, um, your home or your house, your residents wherever you live and actually buy a peel box. You can buy Appeal box at most U. S. Postal offices for around 60 to 80 bucks for in the entire year, so it works out to a couple bucks a month. You can also buy Bill boxes that FedEx or ups as well, but they're a little bit more expensive. So just, uh, just make sure you have your P O box address ahead of time before you sign up for milk chimps free email service.
4. Custom Domain : one thing that I want to also mention is the email domain that you use for your email under milk ship. Now most of you will probably be using some kind of Gmail or Yahoo or free email account, and that's great. But for email marketing, those types of accounts, especially Gmail accounts, the emails that you said are much more likely to end in the spam inbox of your recipients than if you used a custom domain like one of the name of your website. So if you're website is top jewish dot com, if you use that, as is the domain name instead of at gmail dot com, you have a higher likelihood of hitting the regular inbox versus disband inbox. So, um, a custom them name, name like that would probably cost you a few bucks for enough. You can actually get one from Google for about five or six bucks per month, so it's not that expensive, and its investment, I would I would recommend that you take
5. Creating A List: all right, so after you've created your first milk from a cow, you need to create your first email list, and you need to create the list before you could actually get people to sign up and before you can start emailing people to get them to purchase your products are drive traffic to your website. So what you want to do is going to the main tab and then click on lists and don't take you to this page. Now is you can see already have various email this set up. Um, let's say you don't have any of that. So what you actually do is click on create List. Now it's a very simple form that you need to fill out. You'll need. It felt like 45 different things, and it takes about two minutes to fill this out. So let's get started on what all of these criteria are. So the first is just her list name, and this is just an internal name that you call it. You can pretty much call it whatever you want. Email list, email list newsletter. Um, whatever you want to. You basically identified the list. The second thing is the default from email address. So this is the email address. Your subscribers will be receiving all of your emails from so whatever you. But here will be the fault address when you create a template to send to an email template to send to your subscribers. Now aside, I've already discussed before. A lot of people like to use Gmail accounts, but I found that Gmail accounts have a higher percentage of actually getting your e mails inside somebody Spam Box vs Door Normal inbox. So it's just something to be aware of. So I would for a from email address. I would typically like to use a dot com address because it's a lot, uh, have a higher chance of your lands in somebody's inbox versus to spam box. And obviously, if you can land in the inbox more times, you'll get more opens. You'll get more clicks and you'll get more sales to your website, and everything you felt is the from name. And this is just whatever you want to call yourself. It could be your business name. If you own a watch shop, you could call it Tommy's watches, or it could just be your real name, you know, just Tommy. And this is what people will see on the email subject line when they receive it. From you will be from Tommy. Finally, uh, much requires you to write a short explanation of why people signed up for your list. So it could just be something like, you know, thanks for signing up from my list. Ah, you signed up for it because you wanted to receive tips on how to grow your business, how to grow your sales and stay tuned for daily emails for me. So it's just really something simple to remind somebody why they signed up figure list. And I usually keep this pretty short. I usually like to keep it. You know what you said? It says I don't want people have to read a novel here. And finally the contact information on the list. So this is basically your address, as I discussed before. Um, when you when you have any Medalist, you have to have a physical address. Typically, most people use appeal box. Is this part of the can spam act, So make sure the address is correct for legal purposes, and then finally, you have various forms settings. Now there's a few that I want to point out, so I typically like to do the daily summary notification. So this means at the beginning of every day I'll receive a summary of all the people that have described to my email address. And I also get a summary of the people that have unsubscribed from my address and also get daily updates on how my how I'm tracking in terms of all my subscribers. So it's a very useful day. I look on a daily basis that you can do it one by one, which means whenever someone use describes to your email address, you can to me molest. You'll get an update or is so many un describes, you'll get an update as well. But I don't like to use those ones because you get too many emails. So I just like to get a you know, quick daily summary and then click save and your first email list will be created
6. Importing Subscribers: now, when most people start an email list, they typically don't have any. Subscribers already are anybody they can added. But let's say you do. Let's say you've already have a bunch of information about your customers from the purchases on your website, or you have conduct information through, um, a variety of other means. You can add them in to this new email list that you've created. So all you have to do is go in and click on Add a subscriber and you can entering the real . Their email information. Ah, first name, last name and a variety of other information. Now this is best used when you're adding and one person at a time, if you for a special circumstance. But let's say you want to import a huge email list. Let's say you've I already have an email us from one of the other sites, like our burger or convert kit or anything like that. So what you want to do is you will, first you wanted. You want to export all the information out from those websites, and you want to download it as a CVS, uh, Excel file. And because once you do that you could basically upload this into milk ship, please. Basically one uploaded A the CVS CSP. Sorry CS file and that will import all of your subscribers into the list.
7. Exporting Subscribers : now, one thing I want to show you guys is how to export your email list, and there's a variety of reasons why you wouldn't want to do this. So the first thing you want to do is click on whatever even a list that you want to save. So I'm gonna click on this one, and this will just be a very quick dashboard showing you who's on your email list when they signed up their contact rating and so forth. But the important thing that you want to do is click on exports, and this will export your contact information as a CS V filed. So you can, um, this follows trooper important because it basically acts as a backup. So in case your account gets deleted, are any weird, unforeseen events you did not want to lose your email this because it's a very important tool in your business, obviously. Now, luckily, I've never had this happen, But I like to do. I do like to back up all of my all my lists on a regular basis. I usually do it about every month or so if I remember. So that way, if anything happens to my count. I forget the passport password gets deleted. Whatever. I at least have something. Um, something backed up. And the other reason is to export your email list on a semi regular basis is because maybe you want to search providers, you know you don't like militant anymore, and you want to switch to convert kit or any other email this provider And when you switch your obviously not going to be able to pull in all of your contact information off your subscribers directly and the way you do that is just through the by exporting into a CSP file, and that foul is what you're gonna upload to renew provider to upload all of your contacts , so that way you don't lose anybody.
8. Sign Up Form Part 1: once you've created your first even list, where you want to do is create your sign up forms, sign up forms or how you're going to get people to give you the information so you can start emailing them. It's basically how they sign up for your list for milk. Ship has a few different sign up forms that you can create, and I'm going to focus on the 1st 3 starting with the form builder, the form builders William Nice, because it allows you to share a link that will take the take you to a sign up form that looks pretty much like this. So here's the link that you use and war. We'll click through it once we've finished building the set up for him. Now, I don't really like to do anything too crazy with the sign up form. No crazy colors. The crazy background image is nothing like that, trying to keep it very, very simple. And the one thing you want to keep in mind is the less information that subscribers have to input into your sign up form, the more likely they will be to sign up for it. So you don't wanna have so many fields like this because that will really turn people off. And, um, you know, information is precious, so they're not gonna want to give you too much information about them up front when you really have established that trust or that connection with them. So the first thing you want to do is add a message on that top, and what I like to do is basically one or two sentences, maybe three cents of describing why they should sign up for your email list and what kind of information they should expect to receive. So let's say you have a website and your dry trying to drive traffic to it. Um, let's say you block about traveling or something like that, so you could say something like Sign up for my email list and get the get the best travel. Best travel tips to travel around the world. Odd for less. You can basically do anything you want to the Funt. You can increase the size at in a bunch of different colors, but I have to keep it relatively simple. You know, simple is better, typically, like to bold the message and then center it so click saving clues and a little update on the template. So obviously email address. Well, let's go back here. So these are a bunch of different fields you can add into the sign up form. But again, I like to keep things as simple as possible as less information as possible. So let's start with the email address. Obviously, it should be a required field. Put your self explanatory, but but I just felt like it should be explained. Um, the second thing you want to do is add in names now. Typically, I only like to ask for the first name. You can make this required field meeting. They have to fill it out. Otherwise they can't sign up for the email list. But I typically on I typically keep that's required field because I like it because it has . I have something to address them by and every email and makes a lot more personal so that the, uh, at the top of every evil that send out to all my subscribers, I always have the first name on there. So it's a little bit more personal, so I'm going to save that last name, so I'm not really a big fan of pinning the last name on an email sign up list because it takes up space and it's really not necessary. Most people, most people. It would be fine just to have the first name for most people. So last name that really necessary. I'm going to remove it and the address. So the address is something I don't really like. Toe. Havas. Well, typically not selling a physical product for most of my email lists. I'm selling a digital product, so I don't really need to know what your addresses now. It might be necessary in certain cases, but again, that's a lot of information for a subscriber to give you up front. So I'm going to go ahead and delete that and saintly with the full number two. I really don't like. Um, I don't think people like giving out their phone numbers, especially to a stranger on the Internet, so I'm going to delete this one as well. All right, so this is a very simple sign up form. Um, I'm pretty much finished designing it. Like I said, I like to keep everything as simple as possible. The less information that people have need to fill out, the more likely they will be Teoh give you that information. So email address and first name is really all that you need. If you wanted to do some other things to do on the design, you can't as well. Like you can change the background, the background color. Right now it's It's a great color, but you can change its you any other color. You can change it to read. You can change it. Teoh Black, Anything like that. So, um, that's something I typically don't like to do. But if it's something that you want to do, the pop make it pop out and you can add in the background color could change the header. Um, you can change the Fahd so on so forth. So there's a lot of things you can do to customize the email list. Okay, So once you've finished the, um, once you finished designing it, this will be your sign up form your L. So if you click on this hope sorry. If you copy and peace that and plug it in to your browser, that's where it will look like. So when you send somebody to this link, this will be the sign up form for your, um, for your email list
9. Sign Up Form Part 2: In the last video, we went through a tutorial of how to create a Santa form using the form builder that the form builder is really cool because it gives you a direct link that you can give people so they can sign up for your email list. And this is really helpful if you want to. You send that link through email to your friends or your customers are your family are. It could be shared through social media as well, so I have to use it on Twitter. It's a really great way to just send out a tweet your subscribers to your Twitter followers with that link and have them sign up. But let's say you have a website and you want to get people to sign up directly on your website, so you need to create an HTML code that you can embed in your website and that'll allow people to sign up for it. Now, don't worry, you actually don't really need to do any coding. I just need to copy and paste a form, um, that mail chimp greats for you. So let's go through a tutorial on how to do that. Now this already takes in the information we created in the last video, so we really only want somebody's email address and their first name. Now there are a few different templates you can use for the embedded form. You can do a condensed version or horizontal version are and and styled version. But I like the classic one. The convinced version pretty much looks like this. All that axe is for your free email address. This is this might be useful if you're putting it on a sidebar on your website. But I really like the classic view, the horizontal version as well. Pretty much the same thing. I don't really like this one as well. And the installed version is pretty. It looks pretty old school, you know, something you would see in, you know, the nineties. So I like the classic version. No wonder you definitely want that it is the form title because it just says prescribed to are merely list. It doesn't really tell you why. So whatever you, whenever you're including a title in your Senate form, it should definitely include why they should sign up for your email list. Maybe you're giving them a free e book are a free video. Siris are something so I'm just gonna type in, signed up before or e mail list and get the best hacks to travel the world for less. All right, so that there you have it. Once you've created this sign up form, all you need to do is copy and paste. This all you do is copy and paste this ht mo clued into your website. So wherever you want to place it, Typically, I did place it either in the sidebar are in the middle of some kind of post block post. So just insert that into a website and you'll be good to go. Your website will have a sign up form that looks exactly like this.
10. Sign Up Form Part 3: the final set up form that I want to show you. Is the subscriber pop up now? This is a little bit controversy. Oh, I typically don't like to include it onto my website. I know some people do, so that's why I just wanted to create a video about it. But this is basically if somebody goes to your website, there will be a pop up, um, on on the Web page, and it'll prompt them to set up for your email list. Now the reason I typically that like to do that is because I don't want to be very in your face to anyone that visit my website and get them to sign up for my email list. And there's been various studies about how describe a pop ups, impact your search rankings and, in my experience, the it does lower your search rankings a little bit. Not really. It's not really the most significant factor, but it can't have a small impact. So this is something to keep in mind. So what you want to do is just click on that, and this is what the interface looks like. So the first thing you you should probably do is just at a quick photo. I typically like to include my logo or anything like that already have a bunch of images uploaded, so I'll just include if a lot of nice beach, So there's a few different formats you can use. When you're creating this, you can create my favorite. One is the modal the format because it's just right in the center of the screen. Very easy to access, and this is this is exactly what it will look like. When somebody goes to your website, it will pop up and it'll look like this. You can click the slide what and aerobically slide in from the right, or you can click on the used to fix one, and this one's a little less intrusive, so this might be in a better option, but you need todo. You need slick one of these three formats and then the fields. You can add in different fields as well, like first name and email address. Uh, this is just the image alignment. So if there's known alignment, it will. It won't online, um, the top alignment. It will be on the top, the right alignments. It will be right Here are the left. It will be right there. I didn t like it to be on the top because I think it looks better that way. Funt, this would just be the front of of your of your text. I like to keep in aerial because I think it looks the best. And it's the default one anyways, and obviously the text. So it says prescribed to re mailing list. So obviously you wanna have something a little bit more enticing than that. So sign up and get or free e book. So something like that has a little bit better than something just signed up for subscribe . And the final thing? Well, okay. So once you finish this, you need to generate decode. So this is a quote that you will need to place on your website. Hold on. I forgot one thing. So the pop up settings, it's really important. So, um, you can There's a few different settings you could include on here. You can make it appear on your website immediately. You can have it appear after five seconds. You can have it appear after 20 seconds. You could have it appear when they scroll to the middle of the page or at the at the bottom of whatever page the viewer is looking at. So if you're going to do this, I would recommend after 20 seconds. That way it doesn't really pop up immediately. When you're when you when somebody visits to a website and after 20 seconds. Typically, if they're staying for more than 20 seconds or a minute on your website, they're pretty interested in what you have to show already. So if you But if you have it set up to display after 20 seconds, there's a much more higher likelihood that somebody wax lee. Give you information and sign up for your email list. So once you finish, you just need to publish the code, and it will give you the code that you include on your Web site. So this is the HT moco that you're gonna want to insert into your website, and that's how you create the pop up
11. Create An Email Campaign : Creating your first email campaign in milk ship is pretty easy because they have a lot of great templates, and the process of actually creating email is pretty self intuitive. So let's go through on how to do that. So if you go into your campaign tab right here on the top, you have all the campaigns that you have in draft mode and any campaigns you've sent already that what you want to do is going to create campaign, and it will ask you what kind of campaign you're creating. You can create a landing page at AD, but we're going to create an email campaign So we'll talk about automated and a be split testing emails and a little bit. But I just wanted to go over how to create a regular campaign, and we're just gonna call this welcome. Okay, so the first, um, line on the top is what what list? Would email miss your setting this campaign to? So let's just say we're going to send it to our newsletter, one of the really cool things about, um, about male chimp. If you can poach beacon personal lives, who you are standing it too, so remember, when we create a Senate form, we ask somebody to put the first name as required, field to sign up for the email list. So you can, um, the first drop down option is first name, so you can include somebody's first name, Aziz. The person you're addressing it to when you send out the email you can do the last name is Well, first and last name are some kind of custom. Um, custom name. So I like to use the first name because it's a little because it's more personalized. It's a little bit more friendly. Not a really cool thing about milk. Chimp is You can segment are tag your audience. So if you want to email everybody on your email list, you'll want to keep this as it is of the default. So you're emailing all subscribers on your email list, but let's say you wanted to target a subsector of your entire audience on the email list. Let's say you only want to target a certain population of the people, and you can do that. So the 1st 1 that I would like to do is the added. So this means you targeting you can target people by date, range of when they were added to your email list. So even say that, they added, You can only email people if they were added to the email list after a last campaign was sent a specific campaign or a specific date. So let's say we wanted to only email people that signed up for the email list after February 25 2019. We could do that another way. You can segregate your email list that I like to do is campaign activity, so you can do this through a variety of different ways. First of all, you can do it based on opened. So this is which emails they opened, which emails they clicked on which, um, which he most they didn't open, which email stated and click on. So there's really a lot of variety of what you can segregate by, and there's different reasons why you want to use each one. So let's say you're looking at campaign activity and you want to target people that have opened certain emails, and you can do that. You can target people that open. Let's say each of the last 10 campaigns or they just eat. Or you can try get based on the Pacific emails that you've sent so you can do as a follow up. You know, if you're trying to sell a product and you notice somebody opened the email, um, you might send them another one. No, it hopes that they'll buy the product. You can also click. You can also send email campaigns based on emails that they didn't open. Let's say you're trying. You send a very important email. You're promoting some new products that you're selling some new event or anything like that . And somebody didn't open that email. Well, you can send it. Send that email to them again. So let's say they didn't open this email and I wanted him to. I wanted to resend to anybody that didn't open that email, and I couldn't do it. Do this. So the really cool thing about segregating your email list is you can target different people that you want, and there's a lot of I'm going through everyone, because that would take too long. But campaign activity and, they added, are my favorite ways to target and segregate my email list and is a very powerful tool to target specific people that may be interested in What is your offering? Okay, okay, there we go. Eso from So it already the front I've already frozen because its automated based on the information we feel about when we created this email list. So it's from, But you can edit too, so you can make it from instead of this name, you can say it's from, you know, Andrew. Instead, you can also add at the email address to to send it from another one subject. So this is just a subject of the campaign. Um, whatever is you're trying to dio. So you're trying to sell new product. You can say something like new product lunch. No, I typically like to have the first letter of of every word in the subject line capitalized because it makes it pop out relative to all the other emails in somebody's somebody's inbox and preview text. So a lot of some people don't really like to use a preview tax, but I really do, because it basically gives him a preview off. Whatever it is, whatever it is. And you were standing in the email, so think of it as like a book description or a very short description that summarizes what's in the email without them having to open it. Um, check out our latest shoes. So something like that. Okay, so after you fill this out, the next thing you do is actually designed your email. We'll go over how to actually create a temple in a future video. But I wanted to talk about how to create one from scratch, because that's probably what most of you will be doing. So there are a lot of different templates that milkshake has that they've created. You could have one that sells products, um, education, making an announcement, anything like that. But I like to keep things pretty simple. And the one I like to use is to basic one column email template that they have. So will you have. Here is the design of the email on the left side, and on the right side you have different blocks that you can add in. So let's go over this first. So the 1st 1 in this email is a logo, so you can add an image here, um, of your business logo or a picture of your product that you're trying to sell or anything like that. So I've already uploaded a few different photos. I'm just gonna choose one and never looked like that. And next is actually just a body of your email text again. This is where your, um, going to send an email discussing whatever it is you're trying to sell, whatever it is you're trying to promote. Or maybe it's just trying to let people know that you have new block post or anything like that. So this is where you're going to talk about that. So the I didn't text the left here, the left side will actually update. And when you're done, all you do is just save. Now there are a lot of different, um, content boxes. You can drop in here. Now, let's say you wanted to add more pictures or something like that. You can do that too, so you can drop. So what you do is you left. Click it here, you drag it over and you drop it wherever you want in your in your email, and then you can edit damage here. So let's say we wanted to do this image instead. So we just dropped in a new image. Let's say you wanted to include more text. Um, you can do that as well. Just drag it over. Drop it wherever you want. Social media is well, you can drop in that. You can drop in a video you can. You can use the YouTube video or you can upload one yourself. So there's really alive in second. Really Nothing you can't do with the mill chimp email campaign designed Now. One thing that I want to go over is just the social media, but in here on the bottom. If you have any social media, Facebook, instagram, Twitter, anything like that, you can link your accounts. All you have to do is type in the type in your user name the link to your Twitter, your l, the Facebook, your health to your Facebook page or your Facebook group. And whenever somebody, whenever somebody clicks on that in the email, they'll be taken to your social media pages. So that's really that's a really cool thing that you should probably set up now. Once you've designed the email, I just want to save it, uh, and preview it. So what you want to do is go here on the top and go enter preview mood, and this will Basically, this is what it will look like when somebody opens it in their in box. Basically, an email that you've created. This is a death cop version, and this is the mobile version. So this this is what it'll look like if somebody opens it on their phone. All right. One thing you might want to do is just sometimes has team all to yourself. And this is so you can see what it looks, what it actually looks like in your inbox. Finally, you can see once you're done, if everything you want to save him, close it. All right? So once you free did your email, you just need to schedule it. And that's really cool thing about milk, Jim. You can schedule it to send out immediately, or you can schedule to send out in the future. So when you're done, if you want to send immediately this click send. But if you want to schedule it for the future, all you have to do is select a date that you want to send so you can do all the way up to next year. But let's say we wanted to send that next week. Next Sunday. We could do that, and you can set the time as well. Um, what now? Asked, I'm set to Pacific time, but you can change that the Eastern time or mountain time or wherever else you are. And when you're done, just click scheduled campaign and everything will be set, and that campaign will be sent Doubts on March 17th 2019 at 9:45 a.m. To all versus crabbers. So that's basically the gist of how you create your first email campaign.
12. Creating Email Templates : all right, so we went over a video on how to create your first email campaign, but I want to talk about something that's a little bit different, so I don't talk about templates, So templates are super useful for your business because it creates a email template that you can use directly off of. So one thing a lot of people like to do is that they like to include their logos. They like to include a signature page or anything like that links to the website, and it can be very cumbersome to recreate that information every time you want to create a new campaign. So the way the way you get around that is creating a template that you can use. So what you want to do is go on here and click on templates, and then I'll bring you to this page and click create template I like to use. There's lot different templates you can use. You can use something that no ship designed, but I like to use the basic one, um, the one column one. I think it's very simple. You don't really need to do anything fancy at all, All right, for the first thing you may want include is a logo or your picture. If you don't want to do that, you can delete this block. But if you do, you can add in a picture. So already I've already uploaded about your pictures, obviously. So let's say I want to use this one. I'm just gonna insert that and that'll be, That'll be it. So this is a great place to put your logo. So is, um when somebody opens their email, they know exactly who it's from and what your brand is or what your business is. Second thing you want to do is actually designed the email. So this is a template email that you want to use for, you know, certain e mails, or maybe it will be your regular email. But what I like to do is just have, ah, just have a quick signature or anything like that. So, typically, at the end of every email may just a font. Politically, at the end of every male actor, have a signature. You know, something like best wishes, best wishes, and then and then you can add in like, let's say, a link to your website or something. So I just use Google as an example and then adding in a signature like this is, I find it's typically pretty useful. So, you know, if somebody likes the content in your page, they might go through and click on the link and go to your website. That something else you definitely want to do is include your social media pages here so that, um, the default links for all of this is just where dot com, facebook dot com and your website. So what you want to do is in clean. Include the link to your Twitter user name. Include the link to your Facebook page ad include the link to your website. And it's really cool, because if somebody wants to share your content or visit your visit your social media pages , they could do that. So this is typically a template that I would use basically like to have a logo or some kind of picture on the front and in the actual body of the text. I'll have a furniture and also a link to my website and then my social media pages. So this will be when it looks like on a preview when somebody opens it in your inbox. Best wishes Andrew and then a link to the website and also a link to social media pages. And I'm going to save and just called this template sample temple. So next time you want to create hold on, let me get this safe. So next time you want to create an email, you can use this template so you could click here and then click on Create Campaign. And when you click on at a design, it'll be exact, the exact template that we just created. So this is a great way to include things like your logo, Xing signature or anything you want on all of your e mails, and that will save you a bunch of time. Trust me on that.
13. Mailchimp Analytics : The really cool thing about male chimp is they have a lot of reporting and analytics, so you can really analyze how your emails are performing attractive, historically and so on and so forth. So it's a really powerful way. Teoh kind of analyze what you're doing and what you can do, what you can do better and what's not really working with your campaigns so you want to do is go into the reports tab on the top that I really liked dashboard because it's very simple, and it's not very cluttered at all. Now the first thing that will show you is just an overview of all of your campaigns throughout every email list that you've created, you know, show you the open rates in the click rates. So it looks like my click rate and my my open rate, at least, has been pretty stable for the last year or so around hovering around 20% low 20%. Now you can segregate this list based on things on different list that you've created. So I have a newsletter that I have. I have another email list so you can kind of segregated by that category and Also, you can truck revenue if you have that integrated into your account that I don't track revenue because I'm not really, um, selling much with this email less. It's more of affiliate marketing. Um, are trying to trying to promote someone there, some other products. So, um, if you integrated revenue, you can definitely track that as well. If you scroll down, you can see all of the performance of your email campaigns. Now, as I conceive, it really sent anything over the last few months since November of 2018. But it basically tracks all of your emails, so let's take a look. If you want to take a closer look at any email that you send out, all you have to do is click report on any one of these. So I'm just gonna click the report, and this is what the interface looks like. So it was sent to 147 recipients under the Dividend Growth Masters newsletter email list, so the open rate was 21.1%. That means about one in five people opened. This email was clicked 0.7 times the list average is about 18.5% for the open REIT analyst average is 2.2% for the click rate. So obviously this email performed a little bit worse than what my normal my normal emails perform. It was opened 31 times, clicked once, no bounced and two people unfortunately undescribed from this email. And this is what I really like. It tells you how many clicks you have and how many unique clicks. And this is really important because if you want to sell something or if you want somebody to visit your website, you definitely need to be tracking and looking at the clicks Metric and the skin. So you a 24 hour performance of how the email campaign worked. But what I really like about what I really tried to analyze when I'm looking through my email perform. Marketing performance is the total number of clicks. So the top number, the this is true of all the links inside that email, and it looks like it was only clicked once, but you definitely want to be funneling people towards, um, whatever you're if you're trying to sell or whatever product it is you're trying to promote , so it could be some product from your website or a product that you're promoting or anything like that. And something else that that you can track is describes with the most Opens. That is really important because obviously, if someone is clicking, clicking you're any of the links are opening the emails more than the others. They definitely have a more vested interest in what whatever is you're trying to sell or talk about, So this could be a really great way to target people. Some of the emails sent follow up emails selling a product or promoting something to them. And these are typically the subscribers that will be more receptive to whatever it is you're trying to promote. And finally, no more chip also tracks. Ah, you're opens by region in the world. Now, I typically don't use this as much because I haven't really targeted anybody outside the U . S or anything like that for most of my email less. I'm actually just targeting people in the U. S. So it's not as big of ah helped me when I'm trying to promote something, but it actually is a very interesting statistic. You can kind of track if you're a little bit nerdy like me. So most of my it looks like most of my emails are from the U. S. Subscribers in us and a little bit from the UK and Canada. But that's just a quick tutorial of the reporting features in male ship. It's a really powerful tool juke. Hone in on how you're actually performing and which describe if you can target in your email lists, use Elmore of your product or promote what it, whatever it is you're trying to promote.
14. A/B Split Testing : you've probably heard about split testing in the world of online marketing, and what it really means is just testing various elements of your ad campaign or of your email campaign to figure out how to how to find the author Melo add or email to send to your subscribers. And Mel Chip has a really great A B testing campaign that can allow you to do this. So what you want to do is go into your campaigns page and open up a new campaign, and we're going to select email. We don't talk about regular and automating emails, but we're going to go to the A B test now and what's gonna call our campaign testing or it's gonna ask us to choose a list. Now we can create. We can choose from the entire list, or we can create a segment out of the list. For example, we can weaken, destroys the entire list or weaken weaken, build different segments of that list. We can target new prescribers, recon, target, active prescribers, and those are subscribers who have open at least one of or last five campaigns and a bunch of other customer behavior as well. But I'm going to target the entire email list now. No chip. A B testing allows you to try three different variables. Uh, I start before different variables, but it will only allow you to test one of those variables at a time so you can test the subject line of your emails. The from name, the content and the sun time, the from name. I don't think it's as important to test. This is basically who, um who the emails coming from from the point of view of your customers. So you may want to use your business name like Kay Jewelers or something. Or you might want to excuse your own name like Andrew instead of Kay Jewelers. I don't think that's as important. Too important to split test when it's up to you, in my experience, the subject line at the content and the same time, or the more important variables that you that you want to test. Now, once you select everybody the variable that you want test, let's go with the subject line. We can contest up to three different combinations that what's really cool about this on the dashboard on the right, over here as they don't tell you that the how maney how many are recipients will receive each combination. So about 24 recipients will receive each of the three combinations, and we contest How, What percentage of your recipients should we receive? The combination seeking goes low A zero A 10% and it's high 100%. But let's to stay at 50% and it will ask you how to determine the winning percentage. So this is what you want to metric that you want to track. Do you want to track open rates so the open rate is basically what percentage The percentage of subscribers that opened that email that received it? The click rates is the percentage of of clicks in the length of the emails, and you could also tracked by revenue or some other manual metric. But I typically like to track the click rates because I usually have in mind most. At least I usually have links to my products or services. I offer that I want people to click through to, um to purchased Um, let's do the subject line variable first. If you click, next will go into set up and it'll ask you to have three different email subject lines so you can type in whatever you want. T try to test your email subject line. Let's say you you're trying to your offering a Thanksgiving. They black Friday sale on your watch is in your shop. You could test different ones, like 20% off, Um, or you can do something a bit more urgent like 20% off for the next two hours, or 20% off over this weekend. And then you can try to test which one is gonna work best for you. Let's say you wanted to track sometime. You could do that as well. If you do this, you only have one Your subject line because much of only allows you to test from one of those variables at a time. But if you go down, you'll notice that there's different sometimes. So you can said march 12th 2019 at 8:30 p.m. You can send it at 10 p.m. And then 11:30 p.m. That a variable you may want to test is the content it. Okay, so the content is the actual what actual body of your email what it is. You're typing an email, so it allows you to test three different email campaigns. Essentially. So in the 1st 1 let's use a safe template. We have. So the 1st 1 you contest, um, whatever it is you want to test, maybe you're trying to in this in this remote you're trying to tell a story. And the second email, You maybe you're trying to test a, um instead of a story you're trying to sell them on. Why it is they want to buy your they should buy your product. So you want to create three different emails, three separate different emails and that allow you to test which one works the best for future reference. So the really cool thing about a B testing is that it will allow you to test variables and determine what your what Your memo base is more receptive to
15. How to Grow Your Email List Final: all right, now that we've gone through the bulk of the course talking about milk chimp, I want to go with the bonus section of the course, and this won't focus primarily on growing your email list, best practices ads and getting your conversion rate to higher levels. So let's start off with growing your email list. Now there are three primary ways. Then I grow my own personally Melis for my websites, and the first is promoting on social media. So if you have a Twitter account, if you have ah, instagram account if you have a Facebook account, start posting on those to encourage people to sign it. Very email list to get, you know, up to the information daily emails about about your product, about your websites, about your blawg. Just just letting people know that your emails that your email list is out there is a really great way to promote it. The second way to do this is including a sign up form on your blog's or your website. This isn't that doesn't matter if you own a blogger or if you own a online e commerce store having a sign up form on the website is super important because if they're already on the website, chances are they're interested in. They're already interested in whatever you have to offer. So on all of my wife, let's I like to include a sign up form, either in the main sidebar of the website are just on the home page, and I know a lot of you may be using the main 1 may want to consider pop ups on your website, so that's an avenue you may consider as well, so as an example. Here's a travel blogged that I follow, and it looks like the pop up already already popped up on the Web sites. Many ways. If you go to the website first, um, he was, Here's what looks like, but basically, when you when you automatically go to the website, there's a email list. There's an email list for you to set up, so that's exactly what you want for your website as well. So they're thing you want to consider. The grow. Your email list is something called league lead magnets. So these are something free that you offer your email subscribers. Potentially most drivers to give you the information so you sign up for the email list, so I'll talk about this in the next with you. But it could be things like free books free many course free shipping on your products or something like that. Basically, it's something you give them, something enticing you give them in exchange for getting their information.
16. Lead Magnets: So in the last video, we talked about lead magnets. Now these air basically free things that you offer for potentially more subscribers so that they give you the information and sign up for your email list. So it's, ah, quid pro quo type of a situation. Now let's go over some of the more commonly magnets that you probably want to use to grow your email list. The first is one. The most popular ones is free e book. Now this doesn't have to be a gigantic novel or anything like that. So let's say you run a it website on how to use Twitter to promote your business so it could just be a free 10 page e book about the best Twitter hashtags to use something about the basics of using Twitter anything like that. It could just be a very simple book, a simple tutorial. It doesn't have to be 100 page book, er, anything crazy like that. The idea behind this is very simple. You offer something free so people sign up for your email list and people love free things . Nothing you can offer is a resource guide, so this could be a guide to something like how to create your first YouTube video or, if you're selling watches, it could be a resource guide on how to how to properly clean watches without damaging them . A checklist is also a pretty interestingly lead magnet. So let's say you are selling auto parts or anything like that for Let's Say, a will change or something like that. Ah, checklist could just be a checklist of things of a checklist of normal routine repairs are maintenance items you you can perform or in your car a cheat sheet. So this is primarily for in my parents info products. Information breeze. Products like online courses are anything like that, so it could be a cheat sheet. Like, uh, let's say you have a finance course or you have ah, investing based Web flight achieved. She could just be a list of definitions that they should know for a particular investing topic, like trading stocks or bonds. So if you're on an e commerce store, one thing that a lot of people do is they offer this a discount or free shipping. If you sign up for the email list now, this is very popular, even for big brands like Ralph Lauren or, UM, are, um, any of the big brands like Gap or Banana Banana Republic? So what we do is basically you offer either free shipping or a discount if this after email for your email list did. This count can be pretty small, you know between 10 or 15%. But it typically it's enough to get someone to sign up for email list. So off offered them a 10% discount for the first order or free shipping for the first order . A case study. So this is primarily for information based products. But let's say you have a course teaching somebody how to how to draw our how to paint what case study would be. You know, however, students came from not being with a paint at all to be able to paying a very good self portrait a matter of a month. So the case study is a very helpful way to demonstrate why your product or service is useful and finally, a many course. So this is basically like a small online course that you would give for free, inward, the have in order promote one of our product our service that you were promoting. Now again, just like with the E book, the mini course doesn't really have to be so super long. You know, we could just be a 20 minute, 20 minute tutorial on how to use the basics of photo shop or something like that. It doesn't have to be anything extraordinary now. The use of league magnets. It's super important because typically, these are what enticed potential visitors on your website to sign up for your email list, so having one will greatly increase the chance of of multiplying your email list over time .
17. Best Types of Emails Part 1: in the final Siris of our bonus lectures. We're going to talk about the best types of emails to send the first type of email that's really important to send two years. Subscribers are self interest or benefit emails and these type of emails. You're basically describing how the audience your subscribers can benefit from your product or service, and these distribute the bread and butter off most of the emails. You directly speaking to why they would benefit from whatever. Whatever it is you're trying to sell, let's say you're trying to sell Ah, yoga mat. You can talk about the benefits like I'm healing your joints, becoming becoming more flexible, becoming healthier. So anything like that. Another important type of email and this is especially born in when it comes to email subject lines is curiosity. So these are emails that you use to pique the interest of your of your prescribers. So it could be something like, you know, did you know doing yoga twice a week could reduce your chance of of heart attacks by 20%. You know, something like that, something that could something that could really get their interest. Typically, I ask a question in the email subject line to get people to click through now, you don't want to be too two quick Beatty in the emails and get people to click that way. And another thing is, you don't want to use curiosity emails too often because they will start getting old with your email subscribers, so use it sparingly. But it's a really powerful type of email to stand to your subscribers and then a type of emailed to offer your your subscribers is the offer email. So this is the type of email where you send to offer them free stuff or to give them a discount on your products. So it could be something like free shipping on all orders this weekend. Or it could be a 10% discount for the holiday begin this weekend. It's basically a on offer to entice them to buy your products. The fourth kind of email dissent is urgency or scarcity, and this is often the most powerful type of you know that you have now. The subject line of the email should communicate that urgency so by urgency are scarcely I mean, you're trying to give you trying to tell somebody your email subscribers. Why? Why they need to buy Now Maybe you're gonna Maybe you're running e commerce story, and you're about to run out of stock for on your latest products, so you can be sent an email out something like, we only have 100 units left of our newest watches. Get it? Now are you have to wait in the month for our first apply chin to catch up. Or let's say you run you offering a different service or something like that to a newsletter paid newsletter. You could be something like, you know, we're gonna cap out, are we're going to, um this We're going to stop signing people up next, next, next Tuesday. And if you don't sign up now, you're not gonna get on. So it's basically a way to tell people why they should sign up now. Now, the issue of scarcity is you don't want to use it too often, just like curiosity, because people start getting tired of it and it will start to seeing like you're promoting very, very hard. And you know what you are. So you want to you use it sparingly for it to be us effective as possible.
18. Best Types of Emails Part 2 : So the fifth type of email it you want to send out is a personal email talking about you basically get. Let them know the person behind the brand behind the business, and that's really effective because it's really it's much easier for somebody connect to a person than it is for them to connect to a brand. So you want to break down that barrier a little bit and let them know who you are, what your products are your services Dan for and why you started the business. Maybe with a personal story or something like that. The news is a really great way to take advantage of what's going on that's really hot in the news and also to stay in touch at up to date with your subscribers. So you want to keep. One way to do this is basically comment about news in the industry or in the business that you're in. You know, if there's any regulation in the business, you can comment on that and how that could potentially impact people and how you might be able to help. Let's say you run a fitness email list you can talk about and you study about how fasting, how fasting impacts your body. So coming on that news makes you a lot more relevant in people's minds. Now, social proof social proof is very important because we as people we like to look at other people and for for proof that the concept works. And this is really what social proof boils down to you can. You can use this to advantage in the most by talking about students or people that have used your product. I have succeeded and whatever days we're trying to do and the finally tepee mo and I would say this is my favorite is the story mode. So this is when you tell an interesting story, and this goes back to the concept I was talking about before about being entertaining in your emails. You don't want to be boring. You want to be very entertaining, tell good stories and get people excited to open your emails in the mornings are whenever you send them out and a story is a really great way of doing that. And the way I like to do this is basically just talk about a story in my daily life or when I was traveling or anything and tie it back into whatever product or service that I'm trying to sell my subscribers, And the reason why a story works so well is because it's very personal. You know, when you're talking, when you're talking about a story, it's very conversational. So it's not a very formal email, and the conversational tone is what a lot of people like about these types of emails.
19. Things I Learned From Email Marketing: now. I've been email marketing for about two years now from my online businesses, and I've learned a few interesting things that I think anybody just starting out in email marketing should definitely be aware of or at least learn. Now the first thing that you want to keep in mind is email consistency. So you want to email your subscribers consistently are. They will definitely forget about you. You know, over the years I've actually subscribe to various email subscriptions to a lot of people that I follow mostly in the self help are generating income niche and some of them. Sometimes I'll actually get an email, and I will have totally forgot that actually signed that for that person's email list and then most more often and not actually unprescribed from nine email list. So that's something you don't want to do. You don't want your survivors to forget about you and the way to do to get around that is email consistently. If you start, if you email consistently and then stop for you know, three or four months and you start, you start your email campaigns again. Most people will honestly forget that you ever existed and though even wonder how they actually got on your email list and you don't want that happens to you because you'll get a lot of until I'm subscribers that way. So definitely keep down in mind. So a lot people are definitely gonna ask what is What do you mean by email consistently? Well, if you're selling information based products like an online course are an e book or anything like that or coaching services, even even stuff like that, I would definitely say email a few times a week, at least 3 to 4 times a week for my info based products. I typically Eamonn my subscribers about once a day, and most of that is through my automation campaigns, which is also really nice if you're selling e commerce products, I would say once a week or maybe even twice a week, is a really good number to shoot for. That will be a really good range so people don't forget about you, and they're still thinking about thinking about your products. The second thing you want to keep in mind is you definitely want to be entertaining. Our people will unsubscribe. You know, these days it's really easy to sign up for an email list. The average person is probably signed up for at least 10 or 15 different email. This, you know, from different brands or for different, uh, followers that celebrities that they might follow anything like that. So there's a lot of people vying for their intention, so the number one didn't keep in mind. Don't be boring keeping Keep your aim of entertaining so stories and do that while promoting your products and your email list will be very successful that way. Now, a lot of you are probably wondering how do why not be boring? Well, my definition A lot of a lot of people, the tree emails, like a science paper. They're writing for school or something like that. That's something that's something you don't want to do. You want to be personal. So when you're writing email, think about think about it like you're talking to. Your friend very caught a very conference conversational tone, so no big words, nothing too fancy. Justus, if you're talking to you, a good friend of yours over coffee. The other thing that I've learned is you do not want to include too many pictures are too many links in your email. And this is for one main reason. If you include a lot of links the, uh the recipients, their email provider, you know, whether it be Google, Hotmail or Yahoo, it will think that whoever sending it is sending a lot of spammy links. And if they think you're sending them sending them spam, you're gonna wind up in their spending box, and they are gonna open your emails, which means they're open rate is going to go down significantly. And you don't want that at all. You want people to be opening your emails and clicking on those links. So the weight, the way to ensure that you don't do that is keep your links to a minimum. I would say no more than two or three links in an email. And if you've includes a lot of links, like I said, you're definitely gonna wind up in their span box and you don't want that to happen. So keep keep the links to the minimum. In general, I like to keep the link, um, at the end of the email to call the action, basically so at the end I'll be like, you know, if you want to make money, be sure to sign up for my online course here or if you want. If you wanna knew what to show off to your coworkers, click here and by my latest watch. So something like that I call the action at the end. And the final thing that I learned is that converting people on an email list to paying customers takes time. Now I can differ between people, but it takes time. You know, somebody is not just going to SaiPan an email list and start buying all of your products right away. It's exciting, too, so people to convince them that you're your products or services, are worth the money. In my experience, it can take, you know, it could take a week or I can take even months. I've had people that have been on my email list for months before they actually purchased anything from me, so it really depends on the person. But it takes. It really does take time to gain someone's trust and t to get them to spend money with a stranger. So keep that in mind
