1. Welcome to class: Hi, guys. I'm Camilla, and I'm a water colors from Denmark, and I'm super excited to have you here joining for skills here class. So thank you a lot for pushing that play button stay. We're gonna learn about loose laurels, and we're gonna pay this as the class project. But before we get there, we're gonna do a lot of sketching. A really hope you'll upload the sketches, sketches as well, because the process is just as important. And the sketches just to get familiar with flowers and hopefully make loose rolls loose and hung. 2. Stuff to use: Okay, let's look at what we're gonna use for this project. First of all, there's paper. 3. Going green: OK, guys, Now start. Let's start painting. Lucky to familiarize yourself with the brushes first before we jump into the flowers. 4. Focal flower: The ever feared peony: Hi. Welcome to the fun part of the class with the kind of paints of flowers. The new style of house is a very sketchy type of style, but we're still gonna look at some reference photos to get the shape right. So I thought my good old friend Pinterest you could do the same. I did a simple sites for peonies and just look at the shapes are like, um when you find your pictures, paint the flour and use like one of two minutes of each flower and move onto the next one. And if it looks a little bit like blob, my will, you'll see in the next list. Don't worry about it Well, in the outline later, and it'll shape the flow nicely. So heavy painting. Okay, so now we're ready to paint our first flower and it's the piano. Yes, we found on Pinterest just before, and I wanted to start with the PNE because there's a lot of people who fear the PNE because of all the pedals kind of intimidating, but I wanted to show you that it's not that hard. It if you just kind of, ah, go loose with it so Right now, I'm just making a lot of strokes, so kind of shape of flour. And it's just what paint on dry paper. So it's the we don't write technique. I'm not mixing anything, anything at the moment. I'm just put it down from some paint and when I come to the outside tried to use less pigment. So it's it gets lighter, and I kind of make the strokes like the leaves before where you put down the type of brush and then pushed down. It was actually the same. Secondly, guess we're just trained. Yes, you can see the middle is stock, so it gets a lot more focus. Now. Try to paint the flower on the lower side of the picture. It's always good to paint flowers from different angles so it can create some interest in your painting. And here I'm just trying to get cup of flour, but see how the pedals work together. You can see it's definitely not the same flowers not coping at all. I'm trying to get the the pedals and foreground and the background and then just putting down some color here, wet on wet that will spread very nicely to the outer petals just to make the center nice and focused. And I'm just gonna pay the couple of piano small, and I'll speed up the process. Okay, so we painted some flowers, and, uh, I think it's looking good. Now we're gonna paint the outlines, and I just just a just a come. There you go. You said fine liner syrup 0.1 here. And I'm just kind of drawing the outlines of the pedals. And when I said kind of, I'm not doing a correct outline, I'm more like a record line. And it's not exactly like in the photo unless you could see him actually, right now, drawing the shape of a flow that's not in the reference photo, it's to the left of it. And I'm kind of drawing from, uh, from memory here, but you can easily find you your reference photos. It's really nice to have the next to you because you get the shapes right. When you paint enough, you'll get muscle memory, and, uh, that's a great thing. To have a reference photos is always, always, always perfect next to and, uh, I'm doing the outlines and a bit later on during some small details with the final line as well. And hopefully these lines will shape the flow very nicely. Tried to make sure that you you don't paint so close to move the pain of things that you don't leave some white space whites basis so important in this style really creates lose whatever flower. I'll just speed up the process, and I'll see you when we're gonna do some details and some shadows. - And now that we did the outlines, it's time for a little bit of detail ing and I use a bit smaller. Fine. I hear it's a sore point, Cyril five. And the details are actually just small strokes. That kind of indicates which which direction these pedals Lee have a little. It'll really shape the flower a lot when we do this, because outlines and color is just not enough. But these small details makes a lot of difference, and the state does Willis well, which will do in a second and just be loose for that and kind of start from the middle and go outside out of the pedal. So now that we did the airlines and the details, we're gonna make some shadows, and I'm just saying a blessing technique here. We're just use a darker value off Florence and just adding some strokes at the end of the at the bottom of the flower. And then I'm just wedding my brush just water and diluting the pain, the paint. So make a nice transition softening bitch. And I know shadows can be a bit terrifying, at least a two least. I thought so when I began to paint flowers because I never knew where to put them. Uh, but I always put it at the edge off the pedals, the bottom of the flower and whether pedals over left. And that usually makes a lot of difference in the flower. Yes, you can see, I just painted with overlaps, and that kind of creates a dimensions of flour. Of course, you don't need to put, uh, put down shadows like I do if you know where do looks a lot like a flower with all the outlines in detail, but I really think that that shadows makes a flower pop even more, and in this case I'm using a the same color as the flower, just in a darker value But you could easily use another color like blow green or something like that, to contrast the flower and make some interesting real spur salts. I often use blue with the with the purple styles, for example, and with pink flowers because to create some interest so you can always have fun with it. Those flaws and meant to be fun. 6. Detail flower: The Muscari: Okay, so now it's time for the last Well, the flower I can't pronounce for some reason the most. Curry and I found my reference picture on Pinterest as the other times just painting the flower here and you'll see I'm not buried. Detailed with this flower is just getting the feel of it. And the process is the same as the last two. First reply the watercolor wash wet on wet and with on Dr Another cults believed nicely, just very loose. 7. Final bouquet: Hi and welcome back. I'm so happy you're still here. I hope you enjoyed some sketchy and learn some tips and tricks along the way. Now we're gonna take it to the next level. We're gonna put all the elements together and create a floral arrangement. And just to recap what we what we learned so far and what we're gonna make. There you go. Um, first, we I learned how to paint the pne, which is a focal flower, big head flower. Then we learn to paint the to, which is a medium sized flower and the most carry here to be a small size flour and create some some details. Then we made some foliage and some grass to give it some texture. It's also your final class project and I can't wait to see what you will come up with them super super excited. First of all, it's always nice to not have super perfect flowers. Some imperfections create a mechanic look, and that can be achieved in a lot of ways. And if you layer the flowers on top of each other So someone in the front and some are just kind of picking through you create some dimension and movement to the flower.
