About This Class

This class titled " Logo Design Tutorial:  Minimal Logo Design & Custom Logo Design Process using Placeit! " is designed to teach the art and skill of using software called Placeit for making professional & commercial grade logos. Regarding graphic designing, Placeit is a versatile, relatively newer tool on the block.

Placeit is primarily designed to make graphic art for Print on Demand T-shirts and several other merchandise. Its lesser utilized potential lies in logo making or the easy-to-master process of logo design, mockup creation, and certain kinds of video content creation. Placeit comes from the house of a solid graphic company called Envato. In this course i have taught to use placeit for custom logo design including both minimal logo design and graphic heavy logo design process.

What makes Placeit amazing is that it has hundreds of high-quality, easily customizable graphic templates and independent elements like fonts, icons, video clips, and sounds. So you can give wings to your creativity and design s seemingly endless stream of unique graphics. Once you get used to the process, it takes only a few minutes to create high-quality professional-grade graphics or logos with Placeit.

Add to this, any logo design you make on Placeit is your creation, and you are free to use or sell it commercially anywhere in any form under your brand name. So there is no shortage of reasons to learn and use Placeit for graphic designing; however, for this course, I have primarily discussed Placeit as a great and versatile tool for logo design. I have covered typographic logos and minimal logo design and graphic-heavy logo designs judicially in this logo tutorial class. So stay tuned and master the art of making killer logo designs easily using Placeit!

1. Class Trailer: Hello friends. This is Kartik and Risch and Assistant Professor of Management or 35 content strategist and a season corporate trainer. I've been teaching digital content writing, marketing, and entrepreneurship for years now. In this course, I'll teach you how you can use the power of place it, create stunning commercial grid logos for your enterprise. I will talk about how you can use the place it to create both minimalistic as well as graphic heavy logos. I will also touch upon how you can use the complex graphic templates that are available in lower segment of place it for your print on demand businesses. Finally, I'll talk about the advantages of place it over to its nearest surface, that is Canva and Photoshop. In the end, I'll give you some prototypes, which I learned with my experience of using this software. And how you can save a lot of time and utilize the software to the best of its potential. Looking forward to see you in this class. 2. Introduction to Placeit Interface: Hello learners. Welcome to this course on logo making the Placeit. Before we proceed, let me tell you why we are talking about placeit. After all, there are several options available when it comes to software for logo designing or for graphic designing in general. When it comes to graphic designing Placeit is a versatile, easy to use, and relatively newer tool on the block. It is primarily designed to make graphic art for print on-demand t-shirts and several other merchandise. It's less than utilize potential lies in logo making. As you can see, there are several different categories available here. Not only categories, such as architecture and design, clothing and beauty education and art. Finance & legal food and events, Gaming, HealthCare, Lifestyle and fitness, music and podcast and services. But under every category, there are several subcategories like in clothing and beauty you can find easily jewelry, street fear, clothing brands, etc. Similarly, under education and arts, you can find templates for writers, publishers, photograph or education and daycare, etc. You can also look into finance and legal subheadings like consulting, finance, law firms, realtors, etc. Food and even similarly, gaming, healthcare, you name it, they have it. And not only this each, these are only categories and subcategories. Each sub-category would have hundreds and hundreds of templates out there. And they keep adding new and new templates every week. So designers are virtually spoiled four choices. There is no dearth of options out there with a little tweak here and there, changing the color, changing a font, changing a text, adding some texts, changing an image, changing the icon here & there, You can create an unbelievable range of high-quality designs. Be it Logos or any other design. But for the sake of this particular course, will focus ourselves only on logo making. However, I must tell you there are other options available in this software. When it comes to graphic design. You can make Videos intros & Slideshows For social media, you can make Instagram stories, Instagram post, promo videos, Facebook cover videos, etc. There are so many options out there. And of course, there is a primary purpose of the software, which is to design apparel and other merchandise using several templates in sub templates, as mentioned in the logos segment, there is no dearth of options. Whether you're designing a t-shirt or a mug, or designing logos etc. Just to give you a brief about mockup as well, there are several different mock-ups as well. What are mockups, how they are useful, and how you can utilize the potential of Placeit. That is the subject of another video. For the purpose of this video, I will remain focused on logos, how you can leverage the power of Placeit with its several categories and subcategories in virtually every industry and hundreds and hundreds of templates out there to make both minimalistic as well as graphic heavy logos and beauty about these logo designs that you are making Placeit. You can use the same designs with minor tweaks here and there for your print-on-demand business as well. So I'll touch upon that as well. So with this, let's move ahead and let's see how we can go about it. Once you get the heck of it, it is very, very easy to create high-quality professional-grade graphics or logos using this software. And add to that, any design you make with Placeit, it is your copyrighted property by default. You can use it anywhere under any brand name you want whatsoever for commercial as well as personal purposes. There is no restriction. It is clearly mentioned in the agreement once you buy the copy of places, together with other tremendous features of Placeit like high-quality graphics and less range of templates and ease of operation. It's highly scalable software. If you start using it for your commercial purposes, if you're selling your graphics on platforms like fiber or any other freelance platform, it's an excellent, excellent tool. And perhaps the must-have tool in your arsenal. So with this information, I hope now you get some kind of familiarity with the software interface and how you can use it to make high-quality graphics. In this particular case, we'll be focusing only on logos, but as I've told you earlier, potential of software is beyond logos. So looking forward to you, in next video where we will talk about minimalistic logo design with some examples. I will also ask you to take some notes and all always keep your attention. Because I want you to make a logo once you finish this course using Placeit and submit it as a project for this course, I'll try to review as many projects as I can and give my personal inputs on each and every one of them. Thank you for watching. Keep watching, keep learning. Looking forward to see you in the next video. 3. What are Minimalistic Logos?: Before we design a minimalistic logo, let me very quickly tell you what are minimalistic logos and what are their important characteristics. Minimalistic logo designs aim to depict their bran 00:00:11.250 --> 00:00:16.005 -entity with minimum text and graphics without distracting the audience. The purpose is to convey more clearly and concisely with minimum design elements. The brand message. The minimalistic logo, should be neat and proportional concerning the angles and shapes used in designing. Often basic geometric shapes like rectangles, triangles, and ellipses are used in minimalistic logos. Simple solid colors, often monochromatic color palettes are used to add elegance to the design. The font is another important aspect of minimalistic logo. Simpler, elegant fonts like San Serif are preferred as it gives a more traditional & classy look to logos. Finally, one more important aspect of a minimalistic logo is that design elements should be well spaced and the design must look neat, clean. And now you have a basic idea of what minimalistic logo means and what are the important elements and characteristics. So let's design one in the next video, keep watching. 4. Design Minimalistic Logos with Placeit: Welcome learners to this new video. In this video, I'll be showing you how you can design minimalistic logo very easily using Placeit. So what we need to do, we are already on the homepage of Placeit. What we'll do, we'll click on the Search bar and type the minimalistic logo. Over 900 templates currently are there under the minimalistic logo tab. So what we need to do, we'll click it and press Enter. So these are templates, as you can see. These are all suited for designing a minimalistic logo. You need to go through it. There are several pages. Each page contains several templates. So you need to spend some time and figure out the best one that suits your requirement. For the purpose of tutorial, I'll be taking any one of them and I'll turn it into a minimalistic logo in front of you. Let's start with the first one itself. Here we have a template. You must be asking yourself, this doesn't look like a minimalistic logo as it is, because it has some bold colors and it has some elements which are apparently not looking like minimalistic logo elements. In a matter of minutes I will be changing it and you'll be surprised at how easy it is to use to create a minimalistic logo from a template. Let me first introduce you to the elements which you will find in almost any template. Like on the left-hand side, you would find typographic elements 1, 2, or 3 at times. Depending on the templates, of course. (On right side) text elements, text background colors, images, and so forth. So usually it remains the same for all templates across all categories. But in certain templates, you will find there is an option where you can add your own elements like a textbox, or a logo from your side, in case you're designing something else, In case it is not a logo, then there are some minor variations, but conceptually it remains the same. So interface is very standard and that's why it is very easy to use. So let me change the color of it. Say, I clicked on the whitish-gray shade and you can see the background of this black block change to this particular color. Similarly, I can change this purple color to a dark gray. Or if I need a transparent file because it's a background color for this particular graphic element. So if I don't need this color at all, I can choose the transparent element. It is very important to have this facility if you are using a software for primarily as a print-on-demand tool, which Placeit is. So this is a very important & handy feature, you may or may not require it in the Logos. So for the sake of this tutorial, let me change it to something else which is more visible. Similarly, I can change the color of the main graphic to any which color I want. And if I need to change the color of this typographic logo text here, then I need to do it from here. I can change it to say this one or this one. This is how easy it is. And I can also change the font from here. There are several different fonts already inbuilt in Placeit, and many more are there and I can download it if I need to. But for the sake of the tutorial and I'll be taking an existing font. Now what else I can do here? These are the shapes that I can easily change. Suppose I don't want this shape here. I can pick any of the shapes available here. See how easy it is. I clicked there and it appeared here, automatically replaced, formatted in its place. I click there. It again changed. If I don't want any shape here, I can simply click on no-image and see only typographic elements are left here. So if you're not happy with the shapes here, which is often the case, there is a huge inventory of shapes available. You only need to search here. Suppose I am creating a logo for our meditation business or meditation-based company. So what I'll do here, I'll simply type meditation. And it will offer me hundreds of shape related to meditation. I can pick any one of them. If I'm not happy with this, I can try something else to find more variations like yoga, which is related to it. Some of the shifts will repeat and some will be unique. You need to apply your mind and be more creative while searching different kinds of shapes. You never know what kind of shape might come up and will be most suited to your design requirements. Suppose I like this particular shape. I'll click here. And it will appear automatically. See all properly formatted and its place in proportion. And I can move it. I can increase or decrease the size. I can move text elements as well. I can move this block as well. And if I'm confused, what I have done in the last 2-3 steps and I'm not happy with that. I need not to whether I simply need to reset the layout. It will automatically come up as it was by default. Now let me change this text first to make it more relevant. I've clicked here. Now. I simply need to change the text here. See it is already looking totally a different logo, totally a different design, and it is professional at the same time. Let me change it a little bit more. It seems too bulky for my liking. Let me be more innovative. This looks beautiful. If I'm not happy with the colors again, I can experiment with them. I can change it in tune with my brand's color. If I'm not happy with the graphic or I feel I must try with something else. There's no hum. The alignment which I have made here will remain as it is. I can easily change it and bring it back if I'm not happy with the changes that I've made, suppose I click here, you'll see the graphic will change without changing the shape. See how beautiful and easy it is. One more. This looks good, isn't it? So suppose I finalize this particular one, and my minimalistic logo is ready with a minimum of fuss, minimal headache. And very easy and quick to make. Just imagine the potential of this tool when you are designing logos for the commercial purposes. Suppose you are selling it on a platform like Upwork or fiver. What you need, you need a tool that gives you the ability to create professional-grade commercial-grade graphics and logos very quickly. And you can have as many variations as you want. And they, unless your customer who is hired you for designing a logo, is happy with the services. You can offer them multiple variations and change them in a matter of minutes. So it's a huge time-saver and it can give you a great, great advantage with respect to your peers who might not be able to do it as quickly with the other tools. So I strongly recommend if you want to start freelancing career as a logo designer, consider this tool. So now our logo is ready. So what we need to do, we need to download it. To download this, we need to click this Download button. What it will do, it will process two files for us simultaneously every time we download any graphic on Placeit, the one with a transparent background and one with a colored background. So it depends upon you. If you want a colored one or you want a transparent manner, you want both of them, you can have both of them. It has prepared two files by default. So let me download this with a transparent background. Because usually you need a transparent background file. If you're using a logo, you want to have a file that can be placed on any background. So let me download this. Okay, It has been downloaded to my system. This is my logo, meditation for life. You can also create several 100 logos like this and with totally different theme and purpose with equal ease and equal speed. So looking forward to seeing you in the next video, where we'll talk about graphic-heavy logos. Keep watching, keep learning. Thank you for watching. 5. Explore Logo Templates for T-shirt Designs: Welcome learners to this new video. In this video, we'll talk about how you can use the tremendous range offered by logo templates in Placeit to give you designing ideas for your print-on-demand shops. This is a logo design from the fashion template. I won't be repeating the format of the template. It is in a standard format more or less. The few changes depending on individual templates across the platform, on Placeit. So I'll be simply doing things very quickly. I won't be repeating the things for the sake of brevity. I just want to keep it concise to give you an idea because I'm using this logo template for print-on-demand primarily. So what I'll do here, I'll simply take the background color out of the equation. As I've taught you earlier as well, how you can easily with single click, remove the background color. I'll do it here very quickly for you. Clicking on the background, selecting the transparent icon. And here we go, the background color is gone. Similarly, I'll change the color of this flower here to something more rose-like. I'll change the color of this leaf as well. Now I'll change the color of the font with the transparent background usually the darker color goes well for print-on-demand enterprises. So I'm taking black font here It looks great with the Red. See this pink line here. This is the center of the canvas here. And similarly, there is one pink line on the horizontal axis as well. Yes, here it appears. So it gives you an idea of where the center of the canvas lies. There shouldn't be much of a gap between graphics & the text. If you're making it for print on demand purposes. Let me resize it a little bit. I can tilt it as well. Now this looks good. So this is a sample of how you can use a template available in the logo tab to repurpose it for your print-on-demand enterprise. This was your tutorial for using logo designs for print-on-demand purposes. I hope you enjoyed this and you learned something useful here. Thank you for watching. Keep learning. See you in the next video. 6. Design a Graphic Heavy Logo with Placeit: Welcome friends to the next video of this course. In this video, I'll be teaching you how you can make a graphic intensive logo. Use Plaeiit with equal ease, with which you meet the minimalistic logo in the previous class. So suppose I am making a logo for a hypothetical company which is selling car accessories, maybe a four wheels car accessories. For the sake of explanation, I'm just imagining this company. So what I need is a logo template with the car design, I'll change it into a car accessory logo. Let me type car here. Choose the logos on the categories and see what appears in front of me. It is showing 178 car results in the logo category. So here are the logos recommended by the Placeit fo cars. Okay, let me take this one. I can take any of them, but I've chosen this one for no specific reason. Okay. I'm into the logo design page. Just see on the left-hand side, there are many options available. There are four textboxes, outline, color, and Banner Color. Drop-down menus are there. Similarly, there are many options available on the right-hand side. Text outline, background, graphics, ascent. Usual sections are there, then main graphic section. Then there is one background graphics section, which is addition in this particular template. So there is much more room to customize it, much more room to make it graphic-heavy. That's what we want. So what I'll do here, simply change the name. I won't be changing the fonts because I need trendy fonts for this kind of logo. Out of these icons here. If I don't want any other tab, I can simply search it off. So this will not appear. It is mentioned over there, 1992. This will not appear now. And one more point, sometimes heavy graphics take some time to load. So be patient with that. Now I'll change it to assessories. It is showing accessories here nicely written. It looks already very good. Now what I need to do, I'm not happy with the car. I want to change it to something else, something which is more appealing. So I'll go into the graphic section, main graphic section, and see if I can find something better here. Like this one. It looks nice, but I need to realign this "Four Wheel" textbox Let me push it a little bit higher so that car is more visible. See, now it looks much better. You can see Car is properly visible, so is the four-wheel tag. Now, what additional changes we can make in this, let me see. Okay, this background graphic section is additional in this particular template, as expected because it's a heavy graphic template. So what I'll do, I'll change this circular graphic behind the car to something which is more appealing. I can change the colors as well. I don't like this yellow one. Let me change it to something which is soberer. Again, you can always opt for brand colors. If your client has given you a certain set of colors, you must take to that. See it is already looking much better now, I want to change this pink as well. So this is my hypothetical accessory company Four Wheels Accessories logo ready and I can download it with the colored background as well as with the transparent background as was taught in the previous video on minimalistic logos, the process is the same, the only difference in heavy graphic and minimalistic logo design on Placeit is that you have got more options to work in the heavy graphic section, Certain templates suit this kind of logo, and certain templates suit minimalistic logos. This is how easy it is. You can design any graphic-heavy logo in Placeit. With equal ease as you have designed the minimalistic logo design in the previous video. There is no complication at all. It's just fun to work with Placeit, With this, I'm ending this class, and in the next video, I'll be introducing you to the project work for this class, which is to design a minimalistic logo with Placeit. So looking forward to you in the next video, keep learning, keep watching. 7. Project : Design or Sketch a Logo: Welcome learners to this final video in this class. I hope you have learned something very interesting, something useful if you were unknown to Placeit, 00:00:08.595 --> 00:00:12.360 Now you will be well conversant with its interface and its potential. And if you already knew were using Placeit, you will be in a position to use it in a better way. Now for your project work, what you need to do, you need to create a minimalistic logo using any of the template of your choice for a hypothetical business of your choice. Or if you have an existing business and you want to try a logo for that, you can do that as well. In case, you don't have Placeit with you right now and you don't intend to buy it immediately, then you can simply draw a sketch of a minimalistic logo and write a very concise and powerful tagline. Simply click the photograph of it or upload the scanned version of it or, a screenshot of it to your project segment. I will be reviewing as many projects as I can and giving you my feedback. With this, I'm signing off. Hope to see your project soon. 8. Six Advantages of Placeit as a design tool: Elephants, welcome to this video. In this video we shall be talking about some of the advantages of place it over PS, the two competing surface implicit our Canva and Photoshop. I'm sure most of you are familiar with both Canvas and Photoshop. Let me brief you very quickly how place it is better than Canva when it comes to ease of operations. Plus it is focused on relatively narrow niche, which is print on-demand and logo making. Whereas Canvas, too broad spectrum to be fine tuned for any particular category. This is a strength as well as weakness of Canada since so many people are using Canva for so many purposes, there is a kind of repetition in the market. So templates, the elements get a kind of repetitive field. Whereas place that is relatively new York it on the block. So whatever you create with place it looks and feels like unique. Talking about Photoshop. No doubt there is no artwork which you cannot create with Photoshop provided. You know how to use Photoshop. And there's a steep learning curve. And using Photoshop, it is not a tool meant for non designers. You need to be very good with u vector graphics and other designing stuff to be proficient with Photoshop. So if you don't have diamond patients for that tip learning curve associated with Photoshop. Then again, your options are limited to Canva and place it because these two sort Riza drag-and-drop softwares. And even in this two softwares, as I mentioned earlier, there's nothing like place it, place it is focused and designed for the purpose of print on demand as well as local making. So if you're a logo maker or you want to set up a logo making business, then it is we're trying place it for your enterprise. Second advantage with place it is that you will not find any other tool which has such a vast range of logo designing templates. And not only the number of complexes quite high, but quality of graphics used in those templates is also pretty high. So if you are using it for your local making business, you are never short of quality templates for your projects. And this holds true for both typographic as well as graphic heavy templates. Third advantage implicit is that every graphic that you make would place it comes with a transparent file. You can download both transparent as well as colored background files implicit, by default, either these functionalities are missing in other surface or they're a little bit difficult to execute. So lesser scores, head and shoulder above this. And when you are designing lots of designs day after day, then it saves a lot of time for you. So this also may explicit hour the tool to try. The fourth advantage would place it is that it comes bundled with a resizing to, it becomes very, very important to resize your graphics four different sizes without distorting their scale. So with place it, you can do it very easily since the resizing tool is free and bundled with the software, you can easily go to your my download folder and select any file you have designed previously and resize it, scale it as per your requirements. Fifth, and perhaps the most important advantage of place it is that it comes with very clearly laid out license used policy. You can send any artwork that you create with place it for commercial purposes. And it is very clearly mentioned in their licensed amps, which is not found in many other softwares out there. There's lot of ambiguity when it comes to selling your art using any of the surface of there with basic, it is crystal clear, no doubt about it. Whatever you create your own set and you're able to sell it commercially wherever you want, however you want. So that's a big plus with message. Finally, it comes bundled with a premium range of fonts. There is no dearth of quality fonts implicit. And if you're using text-based designs very frequently, then place it is a tool for you, how you can make best of the available fonts and how you can utilize them or save them or mark them for your future references. I'll be sharing it in a pro tip video. So I believe I've given you enough reasons to consider place it when it comes to designing logos or any print on demand related stuff. I hope you enjoyed this video. Keep watching, looking forward to see you in the next video. 9. Bonus: 3 Placeit Pro Tips: Welcome learners to this new video. In this video, I shall be talking about some of the tips that I've learned, that my experience of using implicit pro tip number one, how to use font library of place it place it comes bundled with Extensive Font Library. And at times it becomes very difficult to remember which fonts you have shortlisted after a lot of hard work and after a lot of searching from the library, it makes sense once you find the good fonts to save them for future reference, implicit, it is very simple to do that, but most people are not aware of it. What you need to do, you simply need to click on the Start button and turn it yellow. Once you do that, Let's start. Font will be saved in the placenta found. You can easily access that from the safe fonts subfolder. And believe me, it saves a lot of time. And lens are kind of contiguity and consistency in your designing work. Pro tip number two, as I've mentioned earlier, place it has enough range of templates to serve virtually every industry and every requirement. Yet if you are unable to find something unique that you are looking for, there is an option to contact them. You can submit your request. What kind of content or template you're looking for. And they're usually very robust in their support. They will come up with some amicable solution for your requirements. Protect number 3, this is very important. If you'll apply this one, then you are going to save a lot of time when you use implicit. When you choose a segment in place IT industry tie for your requirements. It gives you an option to put the name of your brand, a friend. If you do that, what it does, it changes the name of all the templates, beads for 100 templates, 506, 100, 100 templates in that category. And it takes usually lot of time. So in order to save your time, it is advisable rather than putting the name of your brand or your company. At this stage, you just selected and blood out of the even samples first, whichever template you like, you can pick it up and then put in the name of your brand. This will save you a lot of time. And as far as making changes in the template is concerned, you can still make a lot of changes even at this stage. I hope you like these protests and I'm sure if you're going to use them, you're going to save a lot of time and you will be much more efficient and proficient with implicit, happy designing.
