About This Class

Class Overview:

Hi, Welcome to my online course. In this course, we will learn together how to create a logo, specifically how to find the right logo shape. Maybe my friends and I have experienced confusion when thinking about what shape of logo we want to make. If we make a logo without thinking about meaning, value, and philosophy, all we get is a random logo shape. Even brainstorming is sometimes not enough because we still often feel confused about finding the shape of the logo.

In this online course, we will learn several methods for finding the shape of a logo, which can help you make decisions when creating a logo.

What You Will Learn:

I have organized the material step by step to make the course easy to learn. We will learn in detail.

  1. Understanding the Client Brief: We will learn how to translate the client's brief into keywords that will help find the logo visual. We will also dissect four logo briefs from different companies.
  2. Six Methods to Find Logo Shape: We will learn together six methods of finding the shape of a logo. This method is the core of the course, which we will understand more deeply. Friends can watch the logo course that I made previously about the logo creation process, from studying the brief to getting to know the types of logos to constructing the logo.
  3. Logo sketch: From the keywords we have determined through the brief, we will experiment to find logo shapes.
  4. Digitalize: I will convert my sketch into a digital or vector version using graphic software. In this course, I use Affinity Designer. However, you can use other software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, or Inkscape.

Why You Should Take This Class:

This course will help you find the right logo shape. Because each company or entity has different characteristics, it is necessary to take a different approach when choosing a logo.

I have compiled the material systematically and coherently. So that the learning process will be more efficient.

Who This Class is For:

This class is suitable for all levels, from beginner to intermediate. It is suitable for those of you who are still having trouble deciding where to start when creating a logo. It will teach you how to find ideas for the visual form of a logo.

Material/Resource:

I have prepared a project you can follow to deepen your understanding.

Thank you to all my friends. Have a nice day.

1. Intro: Hello friends welcome to my online course. In this online course, we will learn together about the process of creating a logo. More precisely, we will learn one of the most difficult stages, and one that we often complain about when designing a logo, which is how to find an appropriate logo shape. I have often experienced confusion when thinking about what logo to make. Designing a logo shape without considering its meaning, values, and philosophy, we get just a random logo shape, and we are confused what does the logo actually mean. Although the logo is an important role, it is not only attractive and pleasing to the eye, but also convey the values of the company or entities. So a brainstorming process is needed to determine the appropriate keywords, meaning, and philosophy. However, brainstorming alone is not enough. Even though we have gone through the brainstorming process for the client's brief, we still often feel confused about finding a logo, right? So in this online course, I will share several methods for finding logos. Our logo will be based on the client's brainstorming and brief. Through this online course, there are six methods that I want to share with all of you, among them, creating a logo inspired by the shape of the product or service like this. And there is also a method of creating logo representing a real object, whether an object or living creatures like this. The logo sheps can also be influenced by companies backstory, philosophy, and several other methods that we will learn later. We'll study these methods in more detail and comprehensively. We will also learn and practice each method that I share directly so that friends can fund the appropriate logo sheps more easily. So what do we learn. First, we will learn about materials and prepare tools for logo creation. Second, we will learn together to understand the brief that the client wants learn how to translate briefs to become keywords and preferences in determining in the logo shape. There are four briefs that we will review, and then we will create a logo by finding different logoshape from these four briefs. Third, we will learn six methods of finding logo shapes and practical sessions, so friends will clearly understand each method. Fourth, to practice understanding, friends can also upload and share work in the project section so that it can inspire other friends. I have arranged this course systematically to make it easier to learn. I also made it relatively short and effective, so it's easy to understand and doesn't take a long time. The hope is that this course can help friends in creating logos. You will find not only random logo shapes, but also one that have strong identity. It can represent the vision, mission, and inherent brand values. Then it has positioning in the public's minds so that it becomes the leading face in recognized brand. If you like, please remember to give a review of this course, I appreciate it and also don't forget upload your project. My name is Fathoni Ashari and I'm waiting for the next session. Thank you. 2. Prepare and Tools: Hello. My name is Fathoni Ashari, and thank you for joining the next session. During this session, we will prepare the material and tools used in this course. This course will not primarily focus on the step by step process of creating logo from scratch. Instead, it will emphasize how to conceptualize the design and the shape of the logo. I assume you may already have some experience with logo creation or have previously designed logos. However, this course will hopefully provide valuable knowledge and experience for those who are unsure how to create logo. During this course, having paper and stationary on hand to take notes will be helpful. And this will allow you to write down important information for further reference and serve as a bookmark for videos. Additionally, having paper and stationary can be useful for brainstorming and sketching the logos idea. We will also use graphic design software to practice creating logos. Various graphic design software options are available, including Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Affinity Designer, Inkscape, and more. And you can choose any graphic design software according to your preferences. It is not recommended to use Bitmap graphic processing software like Adoby Photoshop and Gimp. Create logos. Although photoshop offers many features for creating impressive effects, but logos requires flexibility, consistent colors and easily editable shapes. In addition to using vector graphic processing software, graphic design skills are also important. It's not just about processing gpics, you should also be able to create visually appealing and modern designs. Well, it's not necessary to have advanced design skills for creating logo, because we just manipulate the basic shapes. But if you have these skills can be very beneficial. 3. Client Brief Explanation: Session, we will break it down more further about client briefs. Briefs in the logo creation contains information from the client about the logo that we will create. Clients can provide a detailed description of the desired logo. Client briefs are very important for designers because they help them brainstorm ideas. Designers will find a various ideas, keyword, visuals, and other ideas. Not everyone or client can make this brief. Not all clients understand company branding, and client often just want consumers to know the company, brand and logo and have a positive impact on the company. So what if the client can't make a creative brief? If it's so, we have to conduct interviews to collect the necessary information? If you can't meet in person, you can communicate via e mail, chat, or video calls? Be clarity from the client is really needed. We need more information from the client to make a logo. And there's no standard form for client brief, but there are several things we can ask to enrich the client's information among them. Learn about the business the client is working on. It can be in the form of the product or services. We can review the business in more depth. Among them is what product or services are produced. Doesn't the client company already have a titling or slogan? What you clients want from their company in the next ten years or more further. We can also explore the product uses and the variety of products. From the differentiation product, we can learn about the market. We can also review the business processes, such as the production process, or if it's related to the services, how the company serve to the customers. We can analyze the pros and cons of products from the perspective of the clan or owner. This is import because the provides us with valuable information and keyword that can be used when creating a logo. Owners are the most knowledgeable about the product they produce. So by understanding their perspective, we can efficiently grasp the essence of the company and its products. The product or services offer must have consumers And we can ask about target clients and consumers characteristic. We can ask what the message that the client wants to convey to the customers. This message is essential because it will be embedded in consumers' minds in the campaign and in the logo. We can expand on the consumer side, ask about their experience with the product or service. We can also explore the weakness and strength based on a consumer opinions. Studying the characteristic of competitors is also no less important. We must also understand companies whose products or surprises are similar to their clients. Who are the customers, and what are the advantages and disadvantages and what differentiates the client's product from competitors product? This is useful for determining positioning, so the logo has a strong identity. Lastly, but not less important, is being able to explore the backstory or unique story behind the founding of the company or industry. There must be a unique stories when the company was started. For example, the big idea or motivation when building a company can also come from ideology, philosophy, and thoughts held by the owner or founder. Then we enter the logo equation. In this logo question, we discuss the logo that will be created for the client. We have the same perception and at least reduce destruction when designing the logo letter. The first question is whether the logo that we will create will include the company name or not. For example, whether you want to include the company name or the abbreviation or just a name fragment. And this will be related to the logo sharp letter, especially if the logo uses a unique phone or modification of the company name. The next question is, we ask concern the logo style or layout, namely the placement of the logo mark alone or in combination with the logotype. We could provide several assembled to help clients choose. For example, only the locker mark appears, then combine the logo mark and logotype like this. You can also modify the logotype or change the front letter. There are many other logo layout samples. The more samples you have, the more option clients can choose from. Choosing a layout is very important, so we only experiment a little looking for a logo shape, and the client can choose which logo layout they prefer. Then the next important thing is that complexity of the logo. Will the logo be made to resemble the certain shape? It is close to a basic shape or a picture mark, and this is also very important because sometimes designers have their own idealism, that the logo should look simple, even though the client wants a logo that resemble a picture mark on a vice versa. We should also provide logo samples starting from basic shapes until they are close to the original object or picture mark, so clients can choose which logo on they want. It is also important to remember that if the client feels confused about the choices, it is our job to direct them because e or complexity will impact logo placement if applied to media or mockups. Then there are several other equations such as whether the company already has a tagline or slogan, Actually, this is a very optional because logo really contain a tagline or Slogan unless the logo is embedded in the product packaging or material that sufficient spaces to place the slogan or tagline. Then we can ask the client what message and emotions do you want to convey through the logo. Of course, this is also one of the considerations for how we will design the logo shapes, color, and feel. It will be more awesome if the logo could convey a message to the audience and customers. We also ask whether the client specific request for the logo or already has an idea of the logo, but still needs to improve it. For example, the logo may resemble the shape of certain object or certain logo, and we have to look for what needs to be repaired and perfected. Lastly, we can reference several logos that client might like. We can use this reference as a comparison in a several aspect, such as uniqueness, font selection, color selection, space between letters, or level of visibility. Sometimes you need to benchmark the logo that is compare it to similar logos. 4. Understanding Brief With 4 Logo Briefs: Friends, we have learned a little about client briefs in the preview session. So to deepen our understanding of briefs, we will discuss four logo briefs. These briefs are critical because they closely relate to the method discussed in the following sessions. In fact, we will practice directly creating a logo based on the four briefs, and we will break down in this session. So friends, this session is important to listen to because it helps you to understand the next session. Okay, we have four logo briefs. First, there is a brief from Teman Photo Studio. Second, there is a brief from the Livan company. The third is a proof from Daisy fashion, and the fourth is brief from SunPower. I make this brief as a demonstration in this course, but based on how I create the logo and the process I have carried out. The first brief is from the Teman Photo Studio. As you can see here, the client explained the Teman photo studio in a short description. Teman Photo Studio provide photoshoots in all format and setups. It has become an all in one place for photoshoots. Serving from preparation before the photo until the photo is printed, maybe what we have in mind is that we can create a logo from camera visual, But let's look at the product and services In the product and services, Teman photo studio serves self photography, wedding, graduation, family gatherings or commercial proposes. To ensure good result, Teman photo Studio also has a print shop that is managed by itself. No less important is that the advantage that the Teman Photo Studio has, they use new equipment and professional crew, they also serve customer requests regarding the costume, wardrobe, and room setup. This description observes that Teman photo Studio focuses more on photo Studio than photography. So we can collect words from the description above. Photo studio because of its business, multipurpose, because it can shoot photos in all formats, then flexible or flexibility because it also serves customer requests, professional, because it has a professional equipment and crew and perfection because they have its own brain shop to ensure satisfactory results. Friends, you can elaborate the keyword because this depends on the brainstorming that you do. For example, memories, happiness, immortalizing moments, bonds, and many others. So we have several keywords. Photo studio, multipurpose, flexible, professional, perfection, memories, happiness, bond, and immortalize the moment. These keywords are what we look for in the visuals. Then we also have target customers, namely Gen Z and Millennials, who will determine the font or style of the logo design that we will create. The second proof we will discuss this time is the Livan company. Livan is a tech manufacturer of gadgets, such as personal computers, laptops, tablets, and computer accessories. The name Livan is taken from the Word life and Advance, with the intention that the product from Livan creates can help customers live. The products or services offer include PCs, laptop, tablets, and smart watches, and Livan also produces computer accessories such as Mouse, keyboard, headphones, and power banks. Part of Livan Services also serves Service Center in several cities. Now, we moved to the advantage. The advantage offered by Livan and its product is that they care about build quality and are very competitive in specification, even though the price is more affordable than competitors. Also pay great attention to design and models when assembling products so that consumers are confident using Livan products. From the description above, we can get several keywords, live and advance because it comes from the combine name, boost productivity because of the function of Livan products. Then there is build quality, which describe a good and solid product, and there's also a competitive, which means bearing the compete with the competitors and also increasing customer confidence. Friends, you are free to search for the keyword you want because the essence of brainstorming is searching for the right keyword and ideas so that the logo will create will have a deep meaning. Meanwhile, in terms of target customers, Livan is targeting gen Z and millennials. Anyone needing productivity computing such as students, office workers, and content creators indicates that the desired logo visual is relatively simple and modern. What type of logo we will make for the Lifan logo, and do we want to use a logomark or logotype? We will discuss in the next session. We will move to the third brief, which is a fashion brand called Daisy. Daisy is a fashion brand for women and girls. It produces and sells clothing, especially for women, such as a dress, shirts, pants, and business suits. The Daisy brands product advantage is that it is positioned as a brand that produces products of high quality and detail. Then pay attention to the each products can, model and design. Another advantage is that the Daisy factory is committed to the environment and sustainability because it uses 100% raniable energy for factory facilities. There is a correlation between the brand name Daisy and the Daisy flower. Care about the environment and sustainability. So the Daisy brand is close to nature. As for the weakness, the price of the product from the Daisy brand may be slightly above average compared to the competitors. It is still very affordable for the middle class or even low income. Indeed, the main target is young people too old from 18 years to 65 years, especially the middle class who are still actively working, such as students and workers and for formal and informal events. Another weakness of the Daisy brand is that it is not yet well known among the wider community. If it becomes more well known, it will realize that the quality and the design are commensurate with the price. From the description above, we can get some key words, including elegant, because of the sleek design, sustainability, and environmentally because it uses renewable energy for production activities. Also, daisy products are produce of high quality and are comfortable to use. Because it uses a daisy name inspired by the daisy flower. It has a close nature to nature image. Brief number four. The fourth is the last brief that we will discuss before we learn methods for finding logos and practice of creating logos. In this fourth brief is a brand called SunPower, which is provide solar power plants for home to business scale. SunPower can build power plants for residents, restaurants, schools, and large scale businesses such as hotels and universities. Advantage of the solar power plant is that it utilizes solar energy, which is converted into electricity and then used to power electronic equipment. Apart from that, in the future, there will definitely be demand for transition from dirty energy to renewable energy, and solar power plant will become one of the clean energy solutions. Therefore, SunPower wants to be the leading company in this market. Meanwhile, the advantage of the sun power solar power plan is that it easy to install and maintain. Apart from that, SunPower also offers a gurantee of up to ten years for surface and spare parts. Because of disadvantages, SunPower is confident that its products are durable. However, let's look at the disadvantages. Namely that people still need to gain an understanding of solar power plants. Most of them are still hesistant and afraid to transition energy from conventional electricity to electricity from solar power plants. Moreover, the price of installing a solar power plant still high costs considerably compared to the state electricity or conventional electricity. Therefore, if we look at the customer target, solar power is targeting the millennial generation who have a stable income and on their own homes or have started a business on a small to large scale. It is also targeting people who live in the city, many of whom have businesses in the city center, but it's also suitable for those who have housing on the outskirts too. From the description above, we can get several keyboard to visualize in the logo. Keywords that we can take include solar energy because it utilize solar energy, followed by solar panels. And after all, solar power plants are often illustrated by solar panels. Then there are buildings because the power plants offer can be used for restaurants, schools, universities, and even hospitals. Then we can also take ideas from the name sunpower, which resembles a sunflower, right? Sunflowers grew following the movement of the sunlight. Also, sunflowers depict happiness and long life. So we can take advantage of the meaning of sunflowers. So we have solar energy, solar panels, building sunflowers, and we will visualize this keyword and become the logo for SunPower later. We have finished discussing the four creative briefs for which we will look at the visual logo together. We have brief logos for Teman Photo Studio, Lifan Company, DC fashion, and SunPower. With these four briefs, we will practice creating logos, and we will create a logo based on the method that we will learn in the next session. So, friends, to keep your enthusiasm up, we will learn to make logos together and see you in the next session. 5. Methode 1 Company Name and Product Visual: Friends, we have previously started several examples of client briefs to gather keyword and imagine what kind of logo we will make. This time, we go straight to method number one to look for the logo shape. In method number one, I combine the company name with the form of the product or survice offer. So in the Unified logo, the company's name and the product offer becomes visual. To make it more straightforward, I will give you the following example. You may already be familiar with this logo, right? The Burger King logo. One of the franchise may be in your city. And let's look at this logo. We can see the name Burger King and above and below the name, some shape depict Burger Pettis, right? So the name Berger king is combined with the two buns above and below as if it described the shape of a Burger. Audiences and consumers will quickly recognize this logo and the product offered. In addition to the logo, there is a circular blue accent, which makes the logo circular, so the logo looks proportional. In the following example, friends, you can see this NOR photo studio logo. At first glance, we've already know that the logo consists of two elements, the Camera shape, and the studio names. So when the audience first see it, they can already guess that this logo is related to the camera. The camera chef indicates that the company or the Studio is engaged in photography. The camera shape indicates that the displays or this company or services engage in the photography. In the logo. Then use a lens shape that resembles the letter O from the word nor in the logo. With one unified. We can see if the company provides photography services and also known the names of the studio. We can change the shape of certain letters in the product or surfaces offered. This is also applies in the follow example. In the mango, we can see that the letter O is changed to the shape of the mango fruit. Overall, the writing can still be read as a mango, and the viewing audience can also guest that the product or services is related to the mango fruit. The following example is one of the famous franchise Dunkin Donuts. If we look at this logo, we will find the name and logomark. From the name, we already know that this franchise's superior product is donut. The font selection also depicts as a round shape identical to the donut. Then what is unique is in the logo? If we pay attention, there is a glass shapes that says DD and an illustration of steam on it. We can analyze whether Dunkin donuts not only provide a donuts, as in the main menu, but also provides hot coffees and various other drinks. Coupled with the orange and pink backgrund, it becomes a brand identity, which makes this logo very strong in the minds of consumers and the audience. So this logo combines the shop of the coffee with the franchise name, Dunkin donuts, even though it could actually stand alone. And the logo type of the name Dunkin Donuts is already recognizable, and the combination mark logo is also outstanding. So when making a logo, we can look for a logo shape by combining a name and an object or shape that represent the product being offered. But the question is, what kind of company is suitable for using this logo designed method? Unfortunately, not all companies are suitable for using logo using this method. We must pay attention to several things. This method is usefully used to show what products or services are being offered. The important point is to show the product to audience, were also including the company's name. So product visual tend to be more important than the name. For example, when you're walking in the city and accidentally passed by NOR Photo Studio, you know that this is a photo studio from shape of the Logo, which represent the shape of the camera. So you realize that this is place for photoshoot, and potentially, you'll remember that place. When you need a photoshoot, you can go to Nor Photo Studio and when the services and results are promising. Customer will be satisfied and Then remember the company name. it is the same when looking for cafes in your area. Cafes usually use logo that represent coffee beans or coffee cups. Sometimes using sandwich and bread to show that this place is a cafe. So So that people who see it will be aware and become customers there. Suppose the service and taste of the menu, there is good, and the customer will be satisfied. And in that case, the customer will remember the name of the cafe and its logo. This method is indeed suitable for culinary plazas, food cafes, and snacks that showcase their product or surface. And it also applies to the other fields such as photo studio, construction, or surfaces that are often needed in certain area. So companies that use this logo usefully target customers only in that area or in their area is limited. Even though Burger King and Dunkin's Donuts use this method, their companies have survived for several decades on international scale. However, for companies that are just starting out and have yet to receive much attention from customers, using a logo with a combination of the company name and a product related is a is choice. 6. Practice 1: Hello, friends. This is in the practice session. I will practice making a logo from the brief we discussed in the preview sessions. So in each method that I share, there will be a practice sesion for making a logo. So that friends get a clearer picture of the material that I have and we'll convey in the following session. Okay, this is first logo, uses a combination of the company name and the product offer. We will make the logo for teman photo studio, whose brief we have discussed previously. Okay, let's go to the logo practice. First, I usually sketch in a sketch book or drawing book or a regular paper print is also possible. In any paper which you have. What I sketch is the first experiment when looking for a shape. Because in decision found the company name and product offer method, I took the initiative to draw the company name first. I started with I started by writing Teman, starting from T, then E, then M and A letters, and finally, N letters. I use capital letters and a Sans style from the letters because I wanted to be easy to read. Then I gave a camera visual behind the letters behind the letters, M A and n letters. If you are observant, the visual of this logo looks similar to the RON Photo Studio, which the logo that we have discussed previously. I will and I will also use a visual concept like ron Phototudio. To clarify the sketch, I did shadow throughout the logo. The goal is to make it more readable than the visual will look like this. Next, we move on to the digital section. I immediately typed the name Teman and looked for a phone shape similar to the sketch of the image I had made. I use the Tahoma font. I think this font is free to use if the several parts of the font are different, it needs to be edited in several parts. As usual, I converted after I writing them the name company. Then I convert to curve the name of the company that I have created before. And and then I'm doing re edit in the T E and I letter. There is also the letter A, which will be drawn with a camera visual behind it. It is necessary to edit it in the letter A. Likewise, the letter, which is very different, needs to be re edited. Then the camera visual is placed right behind the letters A and n. For the camera, I put a rectangle visual with a circle behind the letter A as if depicting a lens, a lens of camera. Then I look for the color of the camera. Beside that, I make the color of part of the letters and n the same as the color of the letter A. So that is readable or easy to read. More or less the logo. It can be developed further, but the practice for the company and product, we will learn the next method. 7. Method 2 Company Name and Iconic Shape: Friends, we previously learned how to find a logo shape by combining the company name and the product offered. We have started one method and practice making logos using that method. We will move on to the second method, which involves finding a logo design that combines the company name and iconic shape. Let's look at the following logo, which is the logo from ICA. If we look more closely, the IKEA logo does not use the shape of the product offer. The IKEA logo consists of the company name as a typography. Then an oval shape is edited behind it, then wrap it and blue rectangle frame. And there are no form of household furniture products such as table, chairs or cupboard, where these pieces of furniture are part of the products. IKEA has undergone many logo changes until it finally choose its current logo. IKEA has introduced an iconic shape surrounding the typography and blue rectangle. The yellow oval and blue rectangle are Ikea's iconic shapes, and these icons are well known among customers. Making a yellow oval and blue rectangle into a IKEA icon took a lot of work. The IKEA need to present a good product to gain customers trust, and then it takes a long time for the icon to stick in customer's mind. Let's consider the following example of Logo from Sprite. Like Ikea, Sprite combined typography from the company name and iconic shapes. The iconic shapes resemble a green splash that wraps around the typography. The green splash shapes has become an iconic sprite. However, Sprite has also been consistent with its typography over time. So in the combination of consistent typography and distinctive icons produces the sprite logo that it is today. Next, we will discuss this logo. Yes, that's right. The logo for Linkedin. The company name is Linkedin, and the letters I and N are separated and framed with a blue rectangle. Something slightly different about this logo is making the letters I and n, which have a blue frame into a visual identity. Even with this visual identity, people can already seen that it is the linkedin logo. Moreover, Linkedin visual identity can also be used as a simplified logo. For example, it can be used as a minl icon in Apps. We can take several points regarding this method from several examples of previous logo. This logo shapes is suitable for increasing brand awareness in the eyes of consumers. The audience and consumers can immediately read the company name and serve as a reminder that the name is unique by choosing a phone that's supported by an iconic shape that will become the brand identity. A logo like this does not display a product or services. This means that the name and brand identity are more important than the visual of the product. So the company wants to make a good name and brand identity, the main weapon to build customer trust. At this stage, the product or services produced by the company are usually good and mature. So trust is more important in the eyes of customer. Therefore, using a logo name and iconic shapes is less desirable for companies operating in food, culinary, and service sector that are just starting out. And when you are just starting out, you need a visual representing your products and services, so your audience can easily recognize them. However, using this logo is suitable for developed businesses with several product or product variation. The company no longer says what it sells. Still, it is already at the stage of legitimizing its product and service with branding, logo, and brand identity. Because of its purpose as company and product branding, this logo is often also used to legitimize of its product being sold has good quality. That's good and create a feeling of being trusted when faced with many combating product choices. Sprite. When you consider sprite to be a good product, then when you are on the beverage self in the supermarket for example, sprite become a consideration unlike other products. And often the sprite logo and its brand identity appear on product pckging. Take a look at the following logo. The logo of Indomie one of the Instant noddle product in Indonesia. This Idomie uses typography and brand identity, which is red and yellow with a slight degradation to orange and green. This logo also appears on all product packaging. So the logo will legitimize the quality and price of product. The logo does not show in the product shape. Instead, it is a label that says this product is from indomie, which is already known in the minds of consumers. In making this logo, we emphasize choosing a specific font that tends to be unique and may haven't yet to be used by other logos. Anticipate similarities in these typographic fonts it is highly recommended to create your own pont or change or edit an existing font. We can see in the following logo, Sprite, IKEA, Indomi, Skype, Amazon, and Linkedin, none of them use similar phones. Apart from that, consider the form of brand identity that represent the company's value, and as far as possible, there is no other brand identity that resembles or similar to it. The advantage of using a logo is combining typography and brand identity among others. The first is suitable for growing companies that want to carry out branding to customers trusts. It's easy to remember because the audience can immediately read the company name and brand identity because it has its own identity that is different from other logos. Logos can be applied to all products or services to legitimize good product quality taste and satisfactory service. Logos can help consumers when they are faced with other product offers, when they are in front of shopping self, because you need to read the company name and brand identity. 8. Practice 2: Hy friends, we have learned a new method of creating logo with company names and iconic chaps. In this second logo method, I will make a logo from Daisy Fashion, using the company name and iconic shap method to become a brand identity. First, as usual, we start drawing and sketch in the sketch book because it uses the company name element. I started drawing the company name as Daisy. I started with the letter I and then the letter S. I started from the middle to estimated that the each letters. Then the letter A so that it was symmetrical and then distance between the letters looked proper. Then after the letters A, I and S. I drew the letters y and d. If you are observant, I wrote the letters that have their own characteristic. There are some part of the letters that have a shape. This is shown to represent the circle in the not only have an elegant visual, but also in harmony with daisy flower. Then to make it clearer, then to make it clearer, I shaded the logo to have slightly clearer picture of the shape of the logo. More or less the logo is like this. Next, we will move on to digitalizing, on drawing in graphics software. Here, I have prepared several rectangles that I've been adjusted in size and distance so that the distance between the letters looks proportional. So so all that remains is to adjust the size of the logo shapes. I didn't make the font from scratch, but I use Georgia font from the default on the windows. The consideration is that this font is already available by default in windows. So I think it's safer to re edit, re edit it. I adjusted the size and height of the font to match the box that I created earlier. So it's more or less like this. I edited one by one until it really fit. Then in the next stage, there are some part of the font that I don't want. I trim some part of the font. For example, the variant in the letter T, I can also edit it via the node. In this logo manipulation. In this logo manipulations node editing skills. We can add nodes or reduce them. As long as you're familiar with nodes, I think editing the shape will be shared, like we editing nodes with curves, or maybe manipulating curves or something like that. I also edited in the letter A. I changed the top part of A. I a rounded variation with a circle. Indeed, I previously re edited it and inserted a circle in the letter A. It does require high precision because sometimes the letters have different thicknesses, so we also have to be observant with the thickness of the letters. A Also added a variation above and below in the letters. Likewise, the letter y is rounded at the bottom, eliminating the variation at the top, and it is indeed very difficult to match the thickness of the, especially at the p that will be used in the. It does require on there. Then in the letter I. Because I think there are no other variation in the font except rounded in some parts such as in the letter A. Then in the letter, there's also rounded above in the letter I. Then I give the letter I a yellow color representing the Daisy flower. Now we will enter the brant identity such stage. I use an oval shap to frame the Daisy writing to frame the das name. Then I give it a dark blue color, and I change the color of the Das letter to white. Then I res that not yet proper. More or less, the logo that will be created will be like this, namely, having a brand identity from the oval shapes that frames the daisy writing and then the yellow color above the. And the yellow color above the letter I. 9. Methode 3 Representation Object: Friends, welcome back. I'm glad we have learned together in the method of finding logo shape. We have learned three methods. The first is to combine the company name and the product form, and the second is to combine the company name and brand identity. So in this session, we will use the object representation method. What is logo that uses object representation? In general, logo use the shape of existing objects such as animal, plants, flowers, fruit, and inanimate object. Let's discuss this method. Then this is the example logos. I don't need to explain what this logo is. Yes, of course. This is the Apple logo. On concrete example of a logo that uses object representation. The company name is Apple. The logo is taken from the representation of the Apple fruit. So the visual logo is in the form of an apple. Of course, it's just in the shape of an apple. Perhaps its uniqueness and identity aren't strong enough, but apple doing differently. A part of the apple fruit is made to look like it's bitten. And so when you encounter the Apple Biten, it has become the identity of Apple logo. Let's go to the following example. This is the Shell logo. Shell is an international oil and gas company with almost all oil and gas industry areas, including production and exploration, refining, supply and marketing, trading, petrochemicals, and power generation. In the case of Apple, the company name is shell, and the visual logo adopts the shell shape. The company name is also represented in the form of a logo. Hence, the shell shape becomes the identity of the shell company. Have a strong identity, the colors red and orange were chosen which have their own meaning. The Following logo is one more example. The next example is, yes, just by looking at the Logo friends, you already know this is the Puma Logo. Puma is currently one of the largest sporting goods manufacturers in the world, competing with company like Adidas and Nike. The company name is Puma and the Logo represent the Puma animal. The Puma Logo uses a jumping Puma pose to strengthen its print identity. So when there's a visual of Puma jumping, it has become the Puma identity. Of course, the Puma jumping pose has meaning and value that the company wants to confide to its consumers. The three example above, we can learn that object representation can be used when the company name, representation and object, it an animal, animal fruit, plant, or even an animate object. The advantage is that it is easy to find the object you want because the company name indicates what object you want to use. Apart from that, to create a strong identity, the object representation underwent editing, such as Apple, with the Apple button logo, Shell company using the Shell shape, and Puma brand sportswear, also using a representation of a Puma jumping. The shape of the Apple biten and Puma jump is a strong brand identity factor. Then the question arises, what if you want to use object representation? But the company name differs from the name of the object you want to use as a logo? The answer is, of course, yes, because object representation is not limited to the same company name and the same logo. Take a look at the following logo. This is the WWF worldwide fund for nature Logo, which adopts the chap of a Panda. The worldwide fund for nature is an international non governmental organization that addresses conservation, research, and environmental restoration issues. The Panda shape was chosen because WWF wanted a charismatic and almost universally liked animal. Panda also shows that WWF is committed to protecting wildlife, including wild animal and their habitats. The WFF logo, we can learn that the Panda animal object was chosen from the logo because of the consideration that the Panda represents the values and mission carried by WWF. The company's value and mission are represented in object, namely the Panda animal. Another example is in the following logo, the current Twitter logo has changed to X. But if we look closely at the logo, it clearly represents a part. Using the concept of sparrow flying freely. Sparrows indicate that they often sing loudly. So if sounds are collected in a large number, the loudness will be even greater. Apart from that, the birds fly facing upwards, which signifies freedom just like freedom of expression on Twitter. Often express opinion on Twitter in response to events in their lives. For example, like to criticize the government because it behaves strangely. Okay. The Twitter logo choice of a blue sparrow with a flying upward pose represents the value and mission of freedom speech for everyone. Twitter uses this sparrow to represent the company's value and mission. Another example of a logo that uses object representation is the CNBC logo. CNBC is an American business news channel that broadcast business news and analysis program from documentaries, sport, and reality television. If we look closely at this NBC logo, we will see that it resembles a peacock, which flutters its beautiful feathers to form the logo. The peacock's head is now turned to the right to suggest the peacock is looking forward and not backward. The 11 feathers of the peacock logo represent NBC's, six division, namely news, sports, entertainment, stations, and network and production. What happened with the CNBC logo is that the Peacock animal object, which looks complicated because it has a lot of feathers. Then we simplify into a simple logo, but keeps its peacock shape. The point is that the object or living creature that appear complicated in terms of shape can be made a simple and still represent the company's vision mission and values. Several example that we have studied, the essence of this method is to choose animate or inanimate objects that can represent a company vision and mission also values so that the main substance you want to display can be represented in the object. For example, the sun is a large and bright object that illuminates and helps life. Example of the other object containing water can mean cleansing and purifying. There are many other objects that can elevate into concept. Concept can be also originate from animals and plants, for example. Also are often considered intelligence, educative, diligent, and focused. Tigers and Cheetah are often interpreted as a fast chile and Tug. Foliage is also often interpreted as healthy, natural and environmentally friendly, and many others object can be seen from the concept. There are no specific criteria for a company that suits this logo. Still, the logo does not describe the product, but rather represents the company's value, vision and mission. Second, this logo is suitable for large companies and significantly impact their customer or for their society. Third, the company name does not always have to be the same as the object chosen. For example, Twitter uses a bird object, CNBC uses a Peacock or WWF uses a Panda. As long as we can simplify the object shape and have a strong logo identity, there won't be a similar logo shape even though the object is the same. Or the advantage is that this logo is the easiest to apply in any medium from app icons, and mockups to products. For example, Apple and Twitter are easy to apply on Apple devices, and Twitter is easy to use as icons in apps. The most challenging thing is simplifying the object shap to find a strong identity because many objects out there have been used as a logos. it drains your mind when finding the right shape. To learn more about this method, let's go strike to practice. 10. Practice 3: Friends, we have learned the logo shape method from object representation. This time, I will practice making an object representation logo. I will make a daisy logo that utilizes the representation of the daisy flower shape. Remember that the company name is Daisy, so it would be better to have a logo representing a daisy flower. Okay, let's go to the practice. First, I made a logo using the symbol feature. The symbol feature is usefully to create mandala. If you still create spot mandela, you can search on the Internet. And fortunately, the affinity designer have the mandala ability to create mandala. And for friends, who don't know mandala, you can search on the Internet for individuals. I made it first. Star tools to create ten sides. I first created a symbol template so that it could be copied on the other side later. I only added one side, then the other sides will automatically follow. This method is very beneficial because it's very effective and looks precise. Now there are ten rectangle templates. I first add a circle in the middle in yellow orange. Then I hide the rectangle and start throwing the shape in the symbol. The shape will be thrown automatically on all sides. more or less like this. I just need to carefully change or add it the petals and consider various shapes. The game of node and curves is very important. The point is how we create of nodes and curves is very important. How we can edit nodes and curves is very important here to get the desired petal. Well, it took me a long time to experiment with the shape. Problem is that the color of the daisy flower itself is white. However, if I use white, it is very difficult to apply. Also the white color will class with the white background. Choosing white on the petals is an unreasonable decision. I use a black outline that represents the petals. I applied to a light color, the petals will look white. Well, if the color is dark, the patron is dark, just change the color of the petal outland into white. Then I made a logo version, one with petals and the other with petals. I just need to pay attention to the shape of the petals again as much as possible to represent the shape of Daisy flower, but still look simple and different. More or less, the representation of Daisy flower logo is like this. If you want to combine it with the word daisy, you can I have copied the daisy writing that was made previously. I just change in the color and I add a blue background frame. More or less, it will be like this. 11. Methode 4 Combination Representation: Friends, welcome back, I'm happy to still be learning with all of you. So far, we have discovered three methods of the finding logo shapes. The first methods combines the company name and product shape. The second methods combine the company name and brand identity. The third methods used the object representation method. So what method is this time. This time we will create logo by combining several objects. This is the most widely used method because it combines afro shape or objects to create a new logo chap. As usual, we will learn from existing logos. Do you recognize this logo? You definitely do? Almost certainly, one of these three is in your dekstop or smartphone. The browser logo is Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. But have you ever been curious, or do you know the meaning behind this logo? This browser logos do not use the company name, nor do they use a monochrome or logotype. If we look at this logo, the mozilla fire fox logo looks like the names fire and Fox. The fire form a fox and seems to embrace the Earth? This could mean that this browser is as fast as a fox when crossing the Internet. The keyword fox reflects a fox and a child animal. Then the fire that burns reflects a may be brave. And then there's a representation of Earth that, which means surfing the Internet. Likewise, the Microsoft edge logo depicts a big waves in the sea, often used for surfing, so the surfing keyword is represented as the Microsoft edge logo. In this logo combination of representation method looks for several keyword and then looks for visual to combine. Fox plus fire plus Earth become the firefox logo. Waves in the sea become microsoft edge. And let's take a closer look at the following logo. for spotware brand you already know. It has Adidas, Nike, and rebook logos. The Adidas logo uses a visual improvement chart depicting increasing progress in sport or training. So Adidas logo represent the progress of training or progress of certain process, which implies that Addidas products are suitable for sports and exercise, which will increase the progress of sport or maybe progress of training. The logo shape is based on a keyword or several keyword. Then looking for visual to represent it, this keyword can come from the product, product advantages and company vision and mission or even the story behind the company. So the selected keyword will form the visual of the logo. But what must be remembered is that we cannot list all the keyword resulting from brainstorming. Still, we can take two to five keywords that the best represent the company. As another example, take a look at the following logo. There are a Hyundai Toyota Audi and Mazda. Of course, Friends are curious about the meaning behind the logo. However, something more substantial is how the back story and keyword are chosen to produce these logos. This part is in the letter H in the hyundai logo, which is true. But if we observe, another form is implied, namely the hyundai logo which resembles two people shaking hands. Hyundai wants to depict the closeness between the company and its customers. In other words, there is an agreement between them. The Toyota also has a meaning behind it. When decomposed, consists of letters that can form the name Toyota. So from the T letter to O and Y letter here and O letter again, then the last is A letter. So the Toyota logo was built from the company name into a new form. Then the Audi logo also has meaning. Even though we just saw four circles, the logo has a back story behind it. That's when in 1932, the four companies Audi DKW, Horch and Wanderer joined together from Auto Union AG, which would later become Audi AG, and the company needed a new logo, and the four interclocking rings were born. So a combination representation of logo can start from several keyword. Then look for representation of the shape and several shapes can be combined. Combination forms can also come from the backstory as in the example of the Audi and hyundai logo, which creates logos based on the past experiences or experiences by their companies. So the Audience often needs to have understanding or knowing the meaning behind the logo because the logo does not represent a product or surface. 12. Practice 4: Hello, friends, we have learned to create logo with a combination of object representations. This time, we try to create tri logos, not just one, but three logo at once, because I think this logo method is very common and widely used. So it will be better if many logos could be created. Okay, I will create the first logo from the Teman Photo Studio brief. The logo that I will create does not use the company names, but rather a combination of representations. First, I experiment with the logo that would be created. I draw several forms of logos at this stage. I was still confused about what form of logo I should draw. So the shape of the letter t, then the visual of latter t, and then the visual of the letter T and the circle that depicts the camera lens. Then there is a visual of the letter team that seems to depict two people who are happy. Start with the keyword that we have found that before through brief, namely happiness and capturing the moment. So it's as if the two people are happy to capture the moment, ready to be photographed while forming the letter T according to the initial letter of the name, the man. Then there is another visual of two people looking at each other who will be ready to be photographed. I'm again, starting from the keyword that I have determined previously. From several previously created visuals, I chose the visual of two people looking at each other and being happy. Then and then the digitalized logo stage. I started drawing the letter T on the right side, which is higher than the left side. The tall one depicts the man and the lower left one depicts the woman. Then the circle above depicts the heads looking at each other so to deepen the connection and emotion. So I took the concept of the logos as if a co, friends or family who are ready to be photographed to capture a happy moment. Then just edit some part that proportionate yet. Maybe the body part looks too thick. A rounded part can be added to some parts of the body to match the rounded ones on the head. Then the last one was chosen, a a combination of blue and orange. The blue on the right side depicts a wise and reliable. The person on the left side is depicted as a cheerful and loved figure. More or less, the logo is made like this. If you want to combine it with the company name, just put it below or beside it like this. But I think the the logo stands out even without including the company name. So more or less the logo that will be made is like this. 13. Practice 4 Part 2: A friends still practicing logos with a combination of representations. We will create a logo from the Sunpower brief in the second logo. Starting from the keyword, sunflower, sunlight, and solar panels, we will create two logos. In the first one, friends, you can see two squares I have drawn, and I will use the first square for the logo sketch. I started by making a middle circle. The, the circle represents the center point or in the sunflower. There are pistils and stamens, then row flower petals. Now, these flower petals also represent the shining sunlight. I only made half of the sunlight because the bottom will have other visual. So the sunlight is only at the top. I. At the bottom. I intend to draw e shape of leave because it starts with a sunflower vissle, so under the flower, there must be leaves. However, these leaves will also represent solar panels. Now, I cut the sunlight part to form a circle because sunflowers are circular. Then I continue drawing sunflower leaves at the bottom. To clarify the sketch, I filled it with shading to all parts. So the top represents the sun light, and the bottom represents the solar panel shaped like a sunflower leaf. As if the sun light from above will be received by the solar panel and converted into electrical energy. Then we move onto digital visualization. In the digital process, the flow is like when sketching a logo, starting from the orange circle in the middle. I use the start feature to make the side 16 points. Then the star shape with 16 sides overlaps around the circle. And I will only use seven side of the 16. It's more or less like this. I trim the star pieces with a rectangle, so that they form sunlight that matches the rectangle. I delete outline so that the logo look simple and clean. Maybe the process is a bit long in this section, but the point is I recrop Then move on to the bottom, two circles that I thicken the outline. Then I give the outline a blue color and change it to curves. I trim one of the rounded part like this, and I add another smaller rounded part below it. So it looks like there are two lines on each side. I made this change because I was inspired in the middle of the logo making process. So sometimes I get inspiration when the sketch is finished. I think there's nothing wrong with changing the shape of what has been sketched a. Yeah. So the point is and the top is sunlight, and the bottom is the solar panel that receive the light, taking the basic shape of the sunflower combined with sunlight and solar panels. The choice of color is also intended to resemble a sunflower, and the leaves are blue because they follow the color of solar panel. We just need to name it sunpower and it will be more or less like this. I'm still making the second logo for sunpower. Before making a sketch, I have made a rectangle. Then I immediately sketch the logo. The second logo is still the same, starting from the keywords sunlight and solar panel. But it does not carry the representation of sunflower. So it is just a combination of sunlight and solar panels. I sketch the logo first to see what the result will be. This is just the alternative. Maybe we have another inspiration from the Visual. So sometimes when I get in logo, I create more than one, maybe two or three logo as a alternative, if client is not agree with the first logo that we have offered. Okay. Let's to the practice. At the top I made seven pillars that represent sunlight. The sunlight seems to come from above and then shines on the solar panel. Why? I took seven pillars. I think this is no specific reason. I think seven pillars looks proper, looks proportionate. Then at the bottom, I made a semi circle a solar panel. I cut it into smaller sheps like this. Then I failed in the sheeting to get a clearer fiscal picture. I also shed it the top and more or less the logos catch that I will make later is like this. Sunlight from above, shines on the solar panel below. We move on to the digitalization season. First, I made a rectangle and made a half of circle for the bottom. Then another circle will be made for the space between the solar panel and the sun light letter. I started to divide the bottom solar panel into sections, two on the left, and two on the right. Then it was divided into 12 section in total, similar to the tile floor, right? But this is a representation of the solar panel. Then at the top, I started making the sunlight using the star feature and then changing the point side to 20. Then I set the inner circle, circle and the res to look like this. After we think it's proportional, we scale up the star shape to cover the rectangle like this. I just trim it to the rectangle. The result is more or less like this. Then I cut the sunlight in a yellow color that represent the color of sunlight, and I deleted the outline so it doesn't interfere. I still remember that in the beginning, there was a half circle as a space between the solar panel and the sunlight, more or less like this. So that the pattern represents the solar panel. It is given a little variation to resemble the visual of solar panel that is usually found. More or less, the result will be like this. For the last one edges, put sunpower at the bottom and so the third logo is the result of the combination of sunlight and solar power. 14. Modification Company Name: Friends, welcome back. I'm glad we have learned together about finding Logo shapes. We have learned four methods. The first is to combine the company name and product form. The second method combines the company name and brand identity. In the third method, we have also learned the object representation method. And the last session, we have learned combination representation shape. We will now use the method of editing typography and company name or modifying the company name. Then modifying the typography of the company name. What does that mean? Let's discuss it. As you can see, several logo on the slide. What do you think comes to mind when you see this logo? I'm sure you are familiar with this logo. Yes, this is not entirely a logo type that relies on typography, but typography that has undergone editing may be well known as a monogram. Let's focus on the CNN logo. CNN, which stands for Cable news Network is a US news channel that broadcast news via online cable and TV. And it's logo CNN combines the letter C N N as if they could be written in one stroke. C and N. Then if we look at the letters, CNN, they are connected to each other, and there is a middle line that passes through these letters. So the middle line is what connect the letter, so that they are unique and identical. This concept also comes from CNN's philosophy when CNN was founded. It started with cable broadcasting. So the cable element was the link between the letters. They combine the three letter CNN into a new shape and add a center line that connects the three letters. This is what is meant by modifying typography to form a new logo. The following example is in the IBM logo. I'm also sure that my friends are familiar with this logo. Like CNN, IBM also uses an abbreviation of the company name, which is the modify into a new form IBM, which stands for International Business Machine Corporation. It's a multi national technology company specifically engage in Hardware, software, hosting, and consulting services. The logo uses a monogram and abbreviation of the combination, because it is too long to write infull. Actually, from the acronym and type of the font used, it can already be a logo, but the logo adds a horizontal line accent as if a slicing up the letters. The monogram is added with lines to form a new letter that is unique and becomes the identify of IBM itself. The same is true of the ESPN logo, which uses the monogram logo from the name of the broadcasting channel, and adds horizontal lines, which add to its uniqueness. Apart from the example of the monogram logo above, several logo, have also undergone modifications. Take a look at Nescafe and vans logo. The letter n in the Nescafe logo has also been modified to add a horizontal accent, likewise, the letter V in the vans logo also has a horizontal accent. You can modify it by adding line accents, letters or outline. A look at the following logo, the Starwars and Oreo logos. In the starwars logo, apart from modifying the letters, they also use an outline, which makes the logo look unique, likewise, with Oreo. The logo becomes distinctive and unique because it modifies the perspective and adds a blue outline. In this method, emphasizing modifying the typography of the company name. A abbreviation such as CNN and IPM can be created if the company name is long and has more than two words. Then the letters are modified by adding a horizontal accent. Or, for example, an outline, you can also combine the letter shapes. The next question is, what kind of company is this method suitable for? Logo using this method is suitable for companies that have developed and are concert upon their good name. A company's good name is important because its products are mature and very competitive with competitors. This means that the consumers will trust the products sold because they trust the company that makes them. Likewise, the IBM and HP and Tel both produce computing technology products. However, each consumers must have their own level of trust in each brand, likewise, CNN, ESPN, BBC, and CNBC. Surely, every viewer has trust in each broadcasting media. By modifying the company name, the logo makes it appear more unique and easily recognizable so that customers can easily remember and identify it. It is also easy for customers to read the company name because it is a logotype edited in the letters. When deciding to make a logo like this, you need to remember that adding accents and editing letters or an outline is turned for a specific reason. The addition of an accent to the CNN represent the shape of the cable and the addition of a horizontal line accent to the IBM monogram represent a window protector. Likewise, adding outlines to Oreos, and Star Wars has its own meaning. 15. Practice 5: In the previous session, we'll learn the logo method by modifying the company name. This time, we'll practice making the logo. The logo by modifying the company name. The logo that we will make is the logo from Livan company. Livan is engaged in gadget manufacturing and I will modify in the company name. As usual, I sketched the logo in the drawingbook straightaway, the first time. I tried to write the company name without a font with a specific font. But I made all the letters myself because I took the initiative to bring a sleek, simple and modern font. and there is no need for many font variations. This logo will also be our practice logo in the next session, so we will create a logo for Livan and company during this session and the next session. After the writing, the Livan name, I fill with shaded to get a real visual. I fill with Shadow to get the real visual image. The first catch I made after thinking about it was too stiff and too mainstream, I think. Then I made another slightly different version so that the Livan writing would have its own uniqueness. In addition to being sleek minimalist, and modern, it is also not too stiff. I edit some rounded parts, so the font is not too sharp and stiff on each side. I am more confident about the writing on the product. And the logo sketch looks like this. So we'll move on to digitalizing the logo. I have made of five rectangles that I have adjusted to each letter so that the size of the letters I letter looks proportional. I made the letters and I only with rectangles and using rotation. Whoever the letter V seems to need to be careful in making the slope of the letters. So for the thickness of the font, everything will be the same because it starts from the same rectangle. After the letter V is finished, just mirror to make the letter A, and then the letter. After all the letters are finished, I add runs to several parts of the f as in the sketch. I edit it to the letter, letter, letter A, and letter. After it was finished, I gave it a blue color until it became like this. We will make this logo from the next method, which only uses fonts. Since I wanted to modify the logo of the company's name, I tried to use the outline as the main shape, and the result like this. We only need to make some parts of the outline that are too sharp and more like in the letter A N and V. More or less, the result is like this the logo of the Livan company if you use the addition of an outline. 16. Unique Font: Friends, welcome back, and I'm thrilled, we are still learning together. We have learned five methods so far, right? And if you forget something, you can review the previous session, can play again the previous session. In this session, we will learn how to finding a logo using fonts alone or using unique font. Con that uses a certain font is often called Logotype. This logotype is more concern with the company name than introducing its products. The company name is the main value. The company name is the main weapon for selling products and services, so that consumers put trust in every product they buy. It must be accompanied by the quality of name products and services. A good product will also produce a good company name image. For example, try looking at the following logo. I'm sure friends are familiar with this logo. We see the Sony and Nokia logos. Both are technology manufacturing giants. Maybe two decades ago, Sony and Nokia were among the brands that dominated in the cell phone market. Even now, there are still many people who are loyal to their products. Sony, for example, still exists in electronic goods, such as smart phones, cameras, game console, and multimedia systems. Likewise Nokia still exists in the telecommunication field. We can take the Philip and Toshiba logos as an example. Both are also manufacturing giants in computer equipment and household electronics. Their companies have existed for more than a century. It's just that the products sold have shifted according to the times. So a good company name can legitimize a product. Would think that cameras made by Sony have no doubt about their features and quality. People will also have the same perception when choosing household electronics that the Philips and Toshiba brands are considered because of past experiences of being satisfied with their products. So the company prioritizes a logo that can be read directly. This logo will be embedded in their product, such as smartphones, computers, TVs, multimedia system, refrigerators for example, and so on. If we collect more companies that uses logotypes, there will be many more, for example, like this. There is one crucial thing that we might ignore. If we observe, even though we only use a logotype or font, we can still differentiate between the many logos. There is no similarity between one logo and another. If it only uses a font. Why? Many factors explain why logotype is unique in this case. Even if you only use a phone, there are many ways to ensure it doesn't resemble another logo. The first is that the company name itself is unique. Yes, the factor that differentiates one logo from another is the company name. The more unique the company name, the easier for us to differentiate. For example, Phillips Thosiba, Sharp, even though the product markets overlap and our competitors. Consumers can easily differentiate them because their name differ. Then there are the Sony canon and Panasonic logos. Even though they have camera products, consumers can easily differentiate them because of the different brand names. So the more unique the brand names is, the easier it is to introduce the logo to consumer. At least in the same market, there are no similarities name. What makes the logotype different is the type of font used. Unique font will make it easy to differentiate from other logos, whether you use clean, modern, classic, handwriting or something else. On also include letter thickness and italics. Although this is trivial, it is very influential. Our benchmark is that at least the company name is not the same as the company name of the competitors. The p in the logo that we use is not the same as the type of font used by the compotitors. And the color of the logotype that will be used is not exactly the same as the color used by competitors. In making this logotype, we look for as many references as possible for this font. Thickness and colors used by competitors logo, show that our logo will remain different and still have its own characteristic. In making this logotype, we look for as many references as possible for the fonts. Thickness and colors used by competitors logo so that our logo will remain different and still have its own characteristic. So for who is this method of using unique font suitable? This logo method is suitable for companies that prioritize image. A company's code name is everything, and it legitimizes the product offer. The company name will be displayed clearly on each product, and this is often found in electronic devices, such as household electronics and computing devices, such as computers, laptops, smartphone, camera, and et cetera. Our logotype only use in a tech manufacturing. Not really. Many fashion brands also use logotypes in their brands, and companies in other field still use many logotypes. 17. Practice 6: Friends, we are in the last practices in the practicion using the Unique phone. This type we're taken in the previous session, because we are both making a logo I'm making a logo for Livan Company. It's just that in this logo. I don't use an outline, but color the font itself with a color. So the logo will look more or less like this. This is just simple example of logo. And we just need to the less proportional parts, for example, in the space between letters, and I think the result will be more or less like this. The Livan logo uses a unique phone and I don't use an existing phone, but I create my phone myself. So yeah, the finally logo we make like this for Livan Company using the Unique font. 18. Conclusion: Hello, friends. I'm very happy to start it together in this far. And we have reached a conclusion, and there are several things I want to add and also summarize of this online course. Firstly, don't feel difficult or complicated when working on any logo. When we can solve the brief and also brainstorm, it will be easier for us to find a visual logo. Second, it is very important to establish communication with clients. At least we conducted an interview to find out information about the logo that we will create. We should ask the question in the brief to understand the client's wishes or the client's one. And we might think the logo is good, but not according to the client. So establishing communication with client is very important. The choice of logo shape method is adjusted to the entity's characteristic. Each logo design method has different characteristic and is intended for different companies. So understanding the company product, competitors, and target consumers is very important to find the right keywords. Fourth, friends are free to search for keyword when brainstorming. However, as much as possible, it is related to the company and its products. Indeed, brainstorming is difficult and sometimes takes a lot of time. Fifth, increase your logo references by looking at existing logos, at least international company logos or well known logos, and try to find out the meaning of the logo behind it. Looking more at existing logo is also very useful for finding logo shapes references and measuring whether the logo we create is similar to an existing logo. We often create logos, but there are already lots of visual ideas on the Internet. Or at least in the Logo, we create does not have any similarities to the logo already well known or large companies, because there is a possibility that there will be a problem in the future if it's sued for plagiarism. Sixth, we can also learn about the meanings of shapes. Every form, every thing, every object or every living creators has meaning. For example, logo with object representation, such as Twitter, CNBC, and Shell, of course, have reason why the user objects, as well as the other logos. For example, the browser logo is close to a fast object, and usually the logo is round. Second, consider a logo that is unique and has strong identity. Uniqueness and strong identity can come from choosing of fonts, colors, and names the company, so that it becomes a strong print identity. Our togetherness ends here. Thank you to all of you who have followed this course together. Hopefully. This course can help friends in making logos. I am Fathoni Ashari Thank you and see you in the following course. Thank you.
