1. Introduction to the Class!: Hi, everyone. I'm Saba, and I'm super excited to welcome you to this fun and
creative Canva class. So I have been using
Kanva since years, and I absolutely love it. As a freelancer, I help clients to design
the graphics for the YouTube thumbnails for social media and for the
businesses. And guess what. Everything I do, most
of it is from Canva, and that too from the
free version of Canva. So you don't need to buy
expensive subscriptions or expensive tools for something that will look beautiful
and professional. So in this class, we're going to make amazing YouTube thumbnail that will grab the attention and also will give more
click on your videos. So we are going to do
everything step by step. You're going to design with me. That means it's a fully hands
on class. So don't worry. Even if you're a beginner
or if you don't know how to start though you know how
to do Kanva, it's fine. I'm going to teach you
slowly and clearly. So we will cover
two simple methods. First, I will teach you how to design a thumbnail from scratch. You will learn how to
choose the right size, background, colors, fonts, and how to
add text and images. And then I'll show you how to use ready made
templates in Canva. And this templates save time and are super helpful when
you want to create some. And the best part
of these classes, we are going to do everything
in the Canva free version. Yes, so even if
you're a beginner or student or if you're not
willing to buy the Canva pro, this class is perfect for you. I know that Canva
is a simple tool, but don't forget it's
really powerful. If you go deep inside that, you'll fall in love
with the designs. Because once you
are experimenting and you go for every features, you will love to use
every part of it. So, trust me, you are
going to enjoy this. At the end of this class, you are going to
get a project work. That means you are going
to perform a task. So I want you to make
your thumb nail. Using your own imagination or you can use my method,
which I'll be teaching. And the thumbnail, it
could be for anything, like it could be
for your own video or your favorite topic
or just pretend video. And then don't forget to
submit to the project gallery. I would love to
see that. So let's jump in and start creating. And I promise that by
the end of this class, you'll be proud of your designs, and you will start creating
more and more thumbnails. So let's begin this
creative journey together.
2. Lec 2 - Start making your first thumbnail from scratch.: Hello, everyone, and
welcome to the class. So right now we are going
to start with learning how to make YouTube thumbnail
with the help of Canva. So yes, this is the UI of Canva. As you can see, we
have many options. So on the right side, you will see upgrade
to Canva pro. But we am going to teach
you in the free version. So there are options like create home, your designs templates. Down, you can see lots of
templates for your reference. Here are the
templates. What's new. So you can check for
Mum or for design, your yoga day, or
what else you can do. This are the templates
for reference. Okay. As I've clicked
yoga over here, if I'm typing something
else like coffee, so all related to coffee,
I'm going to get here, as you can see, these are the templates which
we can directly edit if we want to use some. But again, some pictures, you'll be able to see
that on the corner side, it's written P. Pro means this template will be only available for you if
you have a pro virgin. As I've said that I'm going
to teach you in free virgin. Let's start with a thumbnail. I'll go in the
create on the left. Here you have the options
like what do you want? Do you want an Instagram post? Do you want Instagram story? Presentation, if you go ahead
here on the left hand side, you will find it
YouTube thumbnail, just click on it, and here you get the proper YouTube
thumbnail template. So whatever is your topic, you are just going to
go ahead with that. And on the left hand side, you will find many
templates for reference. If you have any YouTube channel and you want to make
the thumbnil of that. So yes, we can make on it. So if you have a topic,
like, for example, I'm having a topic
like learning Abacus is easier with any of the name you can take
it, for example. So let us start. First, I
want if my topic is Abacus. So the background I want is
something related to mats. So first of all, I'll go ahead
with the background color. Any color you want, or you can
add a new color over here. So this is a document color. You can add new
colors over here, so that directly from here, you can paste it. You can use this these
are default colors, gradient which is already made. You can just click on one of the gradient and in this way, you'll get the color. If you want to add your color, you can make your
color pallet as well. If you want to add one more
shade in this, the black one. If you want to wear
black, some light shade. Okay. So here we
get three options, blue, pink, and black, which we can use as well. Again, if you want
to add a new color, like there is blue, if you want to add black, again, if you want to add some
color like this one. So in this way, you are
getting the options over here. You can get the style in which gradients you want.
If I want this. So here I have got. If I
want this, this is the way. So in this way, save your brand. Yes, I want to save changes. So here I'm getting
the third option. If you want to use this, you can use this background as well. Okay, so this is the background color which we have added. Now, if you want
to add an element, so start adding it. Or if you want to change
in this gradient, this will also look perfect. So first, you have to
add for the thumbnail, I would suggest first, you need to add the photo over here. And then some text
on the right or photo on the right side
and text on the left side. In this way, you can go with the photos and all the elements. So that we are going to
see in the next video.
3. Lec 3 - Add transparent photo in thumbnail with editing & outline: Hello again. Last video, we have seen how we have
made the color gradient, and now we will start putting
the elements for that. If you are making thumbnail
related to, you know, abacus. So let's put the photo first. So if I'm having
photo already in the uploads, here we go. Okay, I have this photo. Moreover, this photo is not
having background, for sure. But yes, in some pictures we have background and to
remove those background, there is an option in this
to remove the background, as you can see on the top. But again, this is the probogin so we cannot use it over here. But if you want to
use the background, there are many other websites on which the background can be removed and we can get this
photo without a background. So yes, here is our photo. So we can fit it in
with our own wish, like Okay, I want this
much photo to be there. And if you want an
outline because it looks very highlighted if
you are using the outline. For that, you have to click
on this picture and then edit once you click on Edit on the left hand
side, as you can see, there are many filters available which you
can use if you want, and you can go in shadows then outline and as you can see, you have got the
outline black color. From here on the left, we can change it to any color you want. I want this color because
it looks more bright. And if you want to
increase the thickness, then on the left hand side, there is a size option and
you can increase in this way. So I think 35 is okay. Okay. So here we have this
photo with the outline. If you want to
increase the size, just Okay, here we go. So the photo is done. Okay. Now we can go for the
text once the photo is done. So we'll see in the next video.
4. Lec 4 - Adding Text , Colours , Graphics elements: In. Now, as the photo is done, so we can put them
text over here. For text, you can go
in the text option down you can see that
there are many text used. You can find the read over here. If you want to use
the same template, you can use, you just need to put like this and
you just need to edit. That's it. But if you don't and if you
want to add the text, you can go for that as well. Okay. You can increase the size. You can select here is a size. Let's put it 50. Okay. You can increase
more if you want. Okay? I think this looks nice. As we have to show. So here you can duplicate it. And make this size smaller. And you can low Abacus, with let's think her
name is Sara. Okay. So you can select you can
change color on the upper side, you'll find the
features for text. Like there is color, text color, bold, if you want, as you can see, select, and then Italics, if you want, underline, this is list option. This line spacing.
Advance formatting. This is transparency. Effect, we will also see. But in the next line, animate as well I show you. First, let us do this text. I think this color
should look more bright. First, let us make
the rectangle. Just press R simply or if no, then there is other way. If you go in tools, you'll find shapes over here, and here you will
get all the shapes. Okay, here we go. Or simply
pressing R is also okay. And then lower the size. This rectangle, you
can see above text, what we want it below that. So just go in the position,
make it backward. And then a just the size. For sure, we are not
going to use this color. So to change the
color of rectangle, here we have color option. We can go for blue. Yes, this looks more bright. And if you want to change
the corner in round, so you can go for it. That is okay. And then if you want to change
the stroke weight, here you go, learn a Bus, okay. Now, for the next line, you can write tricks and tips, make it cap tricks and tricks for speed. Accuracy. Okay. First of all, we can
make it centered. Okay, here we go. So now I think this
should be more highlighted so we
can use effects. In this, there are many
facts like shadow, lift, outline, neon. Of course, we can change
the color like if you want, you can use this
yellow, more bright. But if you want to choose color, then Any color you want. This is neon. You can
go for this lecheco. I think outline looks cool. You can change the color
to light blue or this. Let us do one thing. Make it black from inside, and for the outline, you can go for lighter shade. Okay, this blue looks cool. You can make this size lower. This way, if you want, you can make it more. Okay. This looks cool. It's aligned properly. Make it more bold. And if you want, you can
change the font as well. Okay, I would like
to do this one. One more changes I
want to bring is Okay, this looks cool, but let's
increase the letter spacing. Here we go. Okay. This one looks cool. If you want to increase
more font size, this is perfect. All right. And down we can go for animated
form like in elements, if you go, you will find
the subscribe word, and we want it for
free, of course. If you want just photos, then there are options
for photos as well. Or if you want graphics, here we get the graphic. I can click directly, change it to this thing. Subscribe. You can change
the color as well. But adding red looks cool. Subscribe. Then
again, you can go for the elements if you want like, here we have like,
share and subscribe. We have all the three.
We can go for graphics. Here is L and share. We can decrease the size. Let's go for subscribe and
this we can decrease the size. Here we go. Let's
subscribe like and share. And you can go like this. See if I'm moving this, only the text is moving. But let me align it. If it is centered, yes, this one is centered, what? Okay, here I am getting
both the red lines. That means it's centered. Selecting this, then
holding shift and then selecting the rectangle,
both are selected. There is a group option,
so you can just group. And once you're grouping, whenever you are moving
this, everything is moving. Okay, this one is centered. Okay, this one is align. This one is also perfect. On the right side, we can put some elements like elements
related to abacus. So we have got so many, we can use this lower,
and here we go. Yes, this looks perfect. If you don't like, there is also one option if you don't
like the T shirt photo. Here on the top side, you can see three colors. Black is for hair. Brown is for skin color and
this blue is for t shirt. We can change this as well. If you want to make him
wear red one, here we go. So yes, we can do this as well. If you find that I'm
finding this text little bit faded like some more thing can be added or to
make it more bright. Instead of this blue outline, we can go for red as well. Effect instead of this, if we go on a bright side
of red, let me check. Okay. I can do one more thing. I can increase the
thickness as well. Okay, the thickness
is increased. Let me check which
color looks more cool. This looks cool, but again, it doesn't match with
the background color. I think black looks cool, but we can decrease
the thickness. And instead of light green, we can go with white. Yes. Here we go. So as you can see, that photo
is done, the text is done. The main highlight text is done, subscribe like and
share and one element. Again, if you want, you
can use other element like if this photo
looks little alone, we can use something else. Let me show you something. If I'm using
background light Okay. As you can see here, this is somewhat we'll get a
flashlight behind the photo. If I'm going for this
green, of course, it should be behind, so I'm changing the position
to backwards. And instead of this, I can use yellow color and I
can increase the size. So behind the photo, you will get some effect. Okay, so here we go. So here we have got
the foot or position. We can go in layers and you can see this all layers are done, if you want to choose
some specific layers. So here we go. Done. Again, if you want to put
some elements like I feel, I can put some arrows Aerographic. So if you like this one,
we can go for that. You just need to
decrease the size. I think this is done. It looks cool now. Now

5. Lec 5 - Share your thumbnail Design: Again. So we are done with
this YouTube thumbnail. Now, if you want to share
on the right hand side, we can go for the share option. Okay, this is the
5.7 second as it shows the preview. Here we go. In this way, we are going to get the proper YouTube thumbnail. For the share option, you just need to click Share
and it's Download option. You can copy link or
simply download MFO video. If you want video, you can. But if there is no video, if there is no this element
of arrow is not there, simply you can go for PNG. Which is best for complex
images and illustration. If you're going for MFO video, you just need to
download. That's it. Then you'll get your
downloading YouTube thumbnail. And then you can easily upload it on your
YouTube thumbnail. Okay. So now, I hope you
have understood this, and there is the
other way as well. If you want to just edit the template for making the YouTube thumbnail,
we can also do that. So that we are going to do

6. Lec 6 - Learn to make thumbnail in ready template: Hello again. So as we
have done with this, this we have made it
everything by our own the background
color we have selected, again, text we have done. We have chosen with
our own choice. We have also used the
picture of our choice, everything, like elements
we have taken by our own. So now, plus here,
we'll go for the next. You don't want this
background, of course. And if we want to choose
anything, you know, directly, we want to just edit from left hand side,
we can go for that. There are many
options available. So let us go for
the free one. Okay. So this is cool. So how to
become virtual assistant. Instead of that, if
you want to go again for the learn Abacus, we can go. So you just need to edit,
like, learn Abacus. Sarah, as you can see,
this text doesn't fit, so we can go for
something which is okay, we can make it fit in the size. Here we go and tips and tricks for speed accuracy. As you can see, again, this is not fitting
to this properly. We can do like this. If you want, you can
align it into the center. Okay, this looks cool,
as it was before. And here is the name. So we don't need name. We can just write it
like and subscribe. That's it. We can also
change to this way. So this is the way we can edit. We can also edit the photo. We can also edit this triangle. Since we don't want to
change or we just want it in any other direction or any other position,
we can go for it. If you want to edit
this triangle, we can go for that as well in this way or any other
shape if you want. But we are happy with
the original one. We can also change the color. But since I just want to
show you how we can edit. We are not going
to change anything We're just removing this photo. Also, this can be
edited as well, like if you want it in the
center or on the corner. This corner, if you want to duplicate and you
want it down as well, you can go for
this side as well. Okay. If I'm going, one thing I want to show
you if I'm going like this, we don't see any red line, but if we are coming back, as you can see, there
are two red lines. One is on the left,
one is on the right. It means it is properly aligned to the shape where
we have done it down also. And if we are coming more down, so you can see that it is also seeing that it's on the center. Okay, but this looks nice. Okay. And now we just need
to add the photo over here. So if you can go in the upload, and you will think that how
I'm getting this photo. The thing is, I'm already
having this in my device. I'm just uploading and it uploads over here
and you just need to select so here are some
options, so I'll be using. This looks cool. You can make it bigger. But as you can see, this is showing on the right
side like this. If you want to flip,
just there is an option. We can flip horizontal
and here we go. Now it fits properly. Okay. So here we are done. 1 second. I just want to move this
triangle properly on this side. Okay. Now it looks perfect. Now, as you can see,
we have just edited the photo and whatever text we wanted we have
written for our choice. So this is the thing
which we can do when we have to just edit on the
ready made template. In this, we have made it
everything from starting, nothing was there. It was blank. We have done with our
own imagination and we have selected the
background color, then text, and then
elements and photos. Here, everything was ready, we have changed the

7. Time to do a task!: Once again. So now, as you're done with your class, so I think there should be a
test in the form of project. So yes, this will
be a task for you. You can make a YouTube
thumbnail for your YouTube. Why not? You can just give it a try. So let's do one thing. Start your Canva and then
just click on the Create, then go to the option and
click on YouTube Thumbnil. And there the template opens.
That will be a blank one. So it will be of your choice. If you want to use the
ready made template and just need to edit, go ahead. If you want to make
it like a scratch, like how I taught
you in the class, so you can do that, as well. So for that, check the color, make the proper colored
background design. Once that done, use
the text photos. First, you need to think about the theme of
what it is going to be, like, which thumbnail
you want to make. Related to that video, you're going to make
thumbnail, right? So, yes, just think about that. And take any random
video in your mind. Of course, I'm not telling
you to make right now, but just think that if you're
going to make a video on, for example, how to stay active, how to learn French in 20 days. For example, if this is a video which is
going to be there. So for that, how you're
going to make a thumbnail, imagine if you're going
to use the photo, use it, I would suggest use elements
also so that element, for example, the
elements like arrows, Imoges or some backgrounds. So that will enhance
your YouTube thumbnail. And also, you can use text, but make sure that your text
should look bold and clear. So that will make thumbnail
more attractive and make sure that it shouldn't
be more crowded because overcrowded
will not look good. So once you're done, just
download it in the PNG format, and then you can share that
file in the project gallery. I'm really waiting
