1. 1. Learn Autodesk Sketchbook Pro from Basics to Sketch Drawings Introduction: Hello students, welcome to the most exciting course in
Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. This is a pretty handy
and interesting software to learn the basics
of digital drawings. I will show you how we can exactly designed something new. In this course, we
will learn how we can exactly download and
install the software. How we can configure the tools. What are the important things that we are going to discuss, how the brushes are working, how we can import new
brushes into our library, and how the layers in
the software works. This course is for
the beginners in digital art or product
design or engineering students who wanted
to illustrate their drawings or share their
ideas with their claims. If you are using your
mouse on your PC, it will be hard for us to
learn digital drawings. So I strongly suggest you
to obtain a drawing pad or a tablet to install the
software and practice drawings. Then after it will
be very easy for us to do the quick works like cut, copy, paste, undo, etc. So then it will be very
interesting for us to learn and do the
drawings, right? So why are you waiting? Let's just go to the course
and let's get started.
2. 2. Autodesk Sketchbook Main Menu: I hope you have
download and install Autodesk Sketchbook
Pro software. And I'm going to head over
to the software directly. So this is the software
and its interface. In this interface,
I'm going to explain all of the user
interface is over here. Here. If you go over to this file menu and
then you will have a bunch of different
options available for you to configure
the firewall. So they are same like
other softwares. Maybe if you click this new, a new document will
be opened for you. And if you go to the File
and then New flip book, it's a different one
if you want to create GIFs or animated sketches. And then you have to use this
flip book option, right? We'll talk about that later. And here, the Open icon, you know that if you want
to open the documents that are used to
design sketchbook, you can open them right here. This is open reason. If you have reason files,
you can open them. And then the save icon
here for the shortcut keys same controlled plus S is
used to save the document. Save As you know that, right? So if you want to save it on the, another different place, you need to do this Save As
option for the shortcut, I prefer to use
control plus shift plus S to save this
one down, this one. And save a copy. As of course, if
you want to save a copy and you need
to do this command. So in this file menu, you have Add Image option. That means you can add separate images into
the software and you can make them as a reference sketches
or reference images, and then you can
do the sketching. So that's a good thing in
this Autodesk Sketchbook. Here you have a page setup
if you want to set up your page size and
different things for printing or other
purposes. You can do that. Here. You can directly print
if you are connected to the printer as well, and then you can
send it to male. So for someone else, and here it's exit. So that's the File menu for you. And if you head over to
the Edit menu and then you have the undo redo
Cut Copy option. Of course, you can use these edit commands
from this Edit menu, but you have some
Edit menu options over these Quick
Access ribbon as well. Here, if you go to this
stylus responsiveness, then you can adjust how
your stylus is going to behave for your
responsiveness, right? So you can increase or decrease them according to your desired. And if you go to this one and
then go to the preferences, that's the option we
need to consider. In this preference, you can
adjust the general settings. Maybe you can
select the language or rotate the Canvas
application or default, save format, PSD file or TAF. And here if I go to this brush options
and then you can have some bunch of
different brush options. We'll talk about
the brush options later when we are
talking about brushes. If you go to this
canvas and this is called as your canvas, write, this paper is
called as your canvas. In this Canvas you can, if you click this one, enable Canvas scroll bars, and then you can enable
scrolling this canvas. Here, you can set
up the resolution, right, according to your desire. If you go to this system
option associated file types, what are the file types? You can save them
or export them. If you check them. Tiff, JPEG, GIF, right? So when you are
saving the document, and it will automatically save the additional these files as
well in the folder, right? So that is why it's here. And here it's a hotkey. I definitely use
most of the time. So for hotkeys,
for quick access. So here they are basically looking similar
or familiar to you, right? For new control plus n, Open Control plus 0, sale contract plus s. So
this one is important. I prefer to use this one, control plus shift plus S. I most of the time
use this command. And for the undo control Z, of course, redo control
plus y and cut copy. They are similar to what
we have familiar already. Here on the tools. That's what we have to
focus more right here four, quickly opening a rectangle. You have to press M on your
keyboard so that it will quickly open for a rectangle. You can draw rectangle if you
click em on your keyboard. And Leso magic band. If you are going
to select a magic when you can simply click
W on your keyboard, I will tell you the use of usages of these commands
in our next lecture. Just cover up there are some hotkeys and
then we have to be aware about those things
for quicker purposes. Right? And then the lagoon, lagoon is called as this one. If you want, you can
customize them according to your frequent tools that you
are using most of the time. And factory defaults if you want to raise it your
brushes palette. If you change the brush opacity or the thicknesses
and then it will automatically reset
into default, right? Then learn the color palette. You can customize
the color palettes according to your desire, right? So that is the preferences
for you moved to cancel them. And if you go to
the Image menu and it has image size itself, right? So you can customize the
image size according to your desire for
pixels or percentage. How much you want to scale
down or scale up your image. You can customize
them here. And here. You can have the canvas size. You can crop it according to, or you can rotate it clockwise
or counterclockwise. Mirror Canvas, etc. You can play around
with these settings. And here you have a window. That means this window, which tools or items you
want to show or hide them. Maybe if I click
this toolbar and the toolbar will be sent out. So I'm going to have the, the default, okay, That's
the window for you. And if you click this
and you will obtain the default layout, right? But I like to have this Kotler
editor over here, right? So you can obtain healthy
from a sketchbook if you want to obtain a quick
tour or whatever it is, something that is the
File menu for you. If you don't
understand anything, you can ask it to
me some questions. And then we will start about this particular ribbon
on our next lecture.
3. 3.Autodesk Sketchbook Canvas Zoom, Move and Rotate: So first things, first,
in Autodesk sketchbook, if you want to zoom in or
zoom out, it's very simple. You can test, will rotate your mouse upwards to zoom
in or downwards the zoom. So that is the zoom in and zoom or function
for you in here. And here you can simply
press the spacebar on your keyboard to
access to this one. Alright, it's a
quick rotate canvas or rotate or move Canvas. If you want to
move the canvas in the left or right,
whatever the direction, you can do that by pressing the space and holding
that one right. After that, you can move
your mouse over here. And then you can
press your mouse, and then you can play around
with the canvas, right? If I release the space bar on my keyboard and then
that will be gone. If you press it again. And then you want to
Zoom the Canvas inside. So for that, you
need to head over your mouse, pointing
this spectacular. And then you have to hold your
mouse and move your mouse upwards and downwards
to zoom in or zoom out. I release the mouse button. And now I'm going to
release the space bar. So that is how it works. And you have the Quick
Access in here as well. Zoom, rotate the
canvas space bar. And here you can press the
Space bar on your keyboard. And then you can click this
one and hold your mouse, and then you can rotate your
mouse whatever the place you like to rotate the
canvas as you wish. I release the mouse button and I'm going to release
the space bar. So that is how Move
Rotate Canvas works.
4. 4. Autodesk Sketchbook Selection Tools Select and Deselect: And here, this is
a selection bar. And if you want to
select something, you can do that one. As an example, let's
say I draw like this and I'm going to select this portion
on leave for that, you can go to this one. And then I can click this rectangular selection
tool bar like this. And then I can left-click my mouse and hold it like
this to select this portion. Let's say I want to have this
portion to be cut, right? For that, I need
to press Control plus X on my
keyboard to do that. And let's say I wanted
to paste that over here. For that, I need to press control V on my
keyboard to have that. If I want, I can move that
wherever the place I like to. You can press it like this. You can hold the mouse button on that one and then you
can rotate it like this. If you want to scale this up, you have to move
your mouse on here. Then you have to press and
hold your mouse left button. And then you have to
move your mouse upwards or downwards to scale
it up or scale it down. That one. Right here. If you click this and hold, and then it will be
moody like this. If you wanted to rotate, you have to click and hold
your leftmost on that one, and then you have to
rotate it like this. So that is how this works. If you understand
how this works, this bar or this
circular icon works. And then everything in
this sketch book will be easy for you to
understand, right? So I'm going to close that one. And here you have a bunch of different options available
for you to select something. So this is the oval shaped
selection like this. And then you can click
Control X to cut, Control V to paste, right? So here, why the desired one
was not selected, right? Can you, can you identify that? What is the problem? The problem here is that I'm
currently on another layer. That that means I'm
on another page. Another sheet that
is on the front of the background sheet
that is called layers. Here, if you click
this Layers icon, you can understand how the work. Right here. It's a background layer. This is the background layer, and this is the
first layer that I drew this sketch after
I cut and paste. And then it will
create automatically a new layer called
as layer number two. Here, you can show or hide
those layers like this. And then when I was
doing the paste again, and then it will
create another layer, that is the layer three. That is why the
layer is shown here. If you want to do it
in a single layer, in a single piece of sheet, you need to combine them, all right, For that, you have to click and hold your left mouse
button on this one. And then you have
to click this one. You have to move. You can move your cursor like this, right? And then you have to move
your cursor on here. So currently I'm holding
my mouse button, I need to release it. So if I release this with
this one and then it will merge with the billowed
layer and the third sheet, the second sheet
will be merged as a single sheet to act
as a second sheet. Then if I click
and move this one, or maybe if I move this
one and then it will all be merged together to act
as a single piece of sheet. So that's what I'm
going to do now. If I click this
merge all and then you will have only one layer. You can be, you can add, delete this background layer. Maybe you can hide
these if you want. Can not be able to delete that. So currently now I'm
in the first layer. And then the first
layer contains every drawing that I
have drawn over here. Now, if you want to
cut that, right, maybe using a oval shape or a lesser selection,
maybe less. So selection is this one. You can move into whatever the position like you want here. You can select them. And then you can cut down this one and you can
paste it down here. So then the third
layer will be creator. Of course, the
layer number three will be created and
you can merge them. You can merge all them to have it on the single layer, right? So that is the
Selection tool for you. You can select this one. This means a polyline one. You can click that one. And then it will add a
line segment endpoint. And then you can add
another polygons end point, and then at that point and
then point up to so on. After you have completed
your selection, you can double-click that
one to select that one. And then you can
press Control plus X to cut that. And then you can Paste it on another
layer like this. You can move it or scale
it down like this. Right now. I'm going to explain
something new for you. So I'm going to merge them
all up for that here. If you go to this
magic one tool, then it will select whatever the drawing
you want to cite. And if I select
someone like this, and then it will
select the magic, whatever it's
inside the drawing, it will select that one, right, for the
better illustration. I'm going to
illustrate it to you. Buy a new layer. I'm going to delete this layer. For that, I need to
have another one. So then I can delete this layer. In this layer, I'm
going to sketch a circle for you, right? Or maybe a box like this. So this is close to one. It's a closed box. Right? Now what I'm going to do
is I'm going to select everything else
rather than the box. For that purpose, you can use this magic one option if you
click the magic one tool, and this is the magic one tool. And if you press it on the other side
outside of this box, and then you can select
it, this one, right? So I'm going to cancel that. If you want to select this box only you can select
inside the box. You can cut it down and
paste it somewhere else. So then you will have this
icon like this, right? So that is the magic
one tool for you. You can configure them
here on another one. You can add them, right? If you check this
one, sample, one, sample all layers, and
then this one, right? So this one will select all the things in
all these layers. So that is the selection of sample one or sample all layers. It will select everything that
is showing on your screen. Regardless of selecting
the layers one by one, it will select
everything else that you select on your screen, right? So that is the sample one or sample all
layers tool for you. And then here it
has a replacement. If you select another one, it will replace the
selection from here to that. If you select another
one that will replace this one here, if you check this
one and select it, and then it will add
them together, right? If you select another one, and then it will add like this. And rather than using this one, if you use this Remove
option and then it will remove a particular
portion like this. Right? So that is the
Selection tool for you. And here this one is
an inward option. You have selected
currently this one, if you want to invert, that means you want to select the rest of the things
on your Canvas. You need to click this one, then the rest of
the things will be selected. For that one. If you want a king
sell that one, you can click this
de-select icon to de-select everything
you have selected. Right? So that is the
selection for you. And I'm going to click
Escape to escape from the selection
option, right? So this is the de-select
option if you select something and if you want
to dislike something, and then you can click that one. So let me cancel this, right?
5. 5. Autodesk Sketchbook Crop and Quick Transform Tool: So here, now what
I'm going to do is I'm going to explain
this crop option. If you want to save something
that should be cropped or you want to save some
portion of your drawings. So this is the best
option for you. If you want to make
some straight lines, you need to press
Shift on your keyboard and then you have to
draw lines like this. Then your lines will become
straight lines, right? So this will work for horizontal lines and
vertical lines, right? If you want to draw some
diagonal lines, straight lines, you have to press and hold
D on your keyboard and then you have to draw some
diagonal lines, right? So this will work diagonally. I'm going to have a new
sketch book right here. This is a quick
transform tool, right? Let's say you have
designed a box like this. And this box looks
too scaled up. That means is too much. And you want to
scale it down a bit. So you can do that
quickly by pressing this quick transform icon and
then you can rotate them. You can rotate them. Or maybe if you want to
scale it down like this and you can do it quickly, right? So that is the quick
transform tool for you. And this is the
transform tool if you select that one and then you
can transform it like this. If it's a shape is doesn't look pretty
good and then you can easily transform it or maybe
applying some perspectives. You can do that one, distort, it's a
scale option, right? So it will scale it
down, up and down. And this will
transform this job. That means it will move
the handles like this, right? Without scaling them. Here, you can cancel them if you don't want to have
that transformation. If you want to hand
the transformation, you need to click
this one, right? So then you will have
that transformation
6. 6. Autodesk Sketchbook Floodfill Tool: And this one, this is
called as a paint bucket. In your paint. This is a fluid-filled
option in Sketchbook Pro. If you click that and
then you will have three different options for
you to fill the closed areas. That's very important. Closed areas. If you click that, then
this area will be filled. And then I need to press
Control Z to undo that. And here you want
to paint this area. You can click that
simply. It's very simple. But what I usually do is I usually do this catches on the first layer
or first, second, third layers and use
a separate layer for the paintings or for
coloring purposes, right? Then that will provide
me an extra layer of safety for my drawings. If I wanted to change
the colors or delete some areas of portions and
apply some different colors. That will give me
an extra layer of safety for my basic catches, you can just simply click
this color it Editor icon. And then the color Editor
icon will appear over here. And then you can
choose the colors, whatever the color you
want to apply for. Right here, you can overhear, you can use this zero
point over here to select which color area you want to choose as an example,
or light blue. And then this is
the color, right? So currently is in black. And if you want to select it
to the light blue or light, you can select that one. Or maybe you can change
it to RGB or HSL, right? So here, you can change in RGB, you can change this
color as well, like this, right here as well. And then the color will
be showing over here. This is the color
you are currently selected, or here, right? So I'm gonna go
in with this one, this color and apply it to here. Right. Now that the color
will be applied, but it's a solid color. What if, if you wanted to
apply some gradient colors? So I'm going to
quickly undo that one. So if you want to
apply a gradient fill, you have to select this one and then you can click that one, and then you can double-click that one to change the color. Or you can double-click
this one to change the other side's
color like this. And then after you can
move it down like this. So here to adjust the fill
proportions like this, right? So maybe you can
adjust them like this. And here it's a grayish color. You can change it to like this, to have a different
color like this. So that is how you can fade
with the colors, right? So it's a gradient field
and it's a linear gradient. That's the thing we need to consider. It's a linear Ville. And what if you wanted to
apply a just cancel that. And what if, if you wanted to apply a radial fill
as an example, if you have, I've
drawn a circle, right? And you want to apply
a gradient fill into it like a radial
gradient, right? So I need to go
to this one and I can apply a red color
in it like this. And then I can move the color palette
according to my desire. If you don't want this
point to be there, you can just simply
delete that one. And then you can have
two colors, right? If you want to apply some kind
of shadows in this model, you can do that one
like this, right? So that is how you can
apply some shadows in here. So if I double-click this one, and then they can change
the color maybe into dark black to outline
the perfect shadow. Yeah. So that is how you apply some radial radiant to your designs according
to whatever you like it. If I click Okay, and
then that will be applied to that one, right? So that is the fill option, flood fill option
for you, right? So I'm going to
uncheck that one.
7. 7. Autodesk Sketchbook Text Tool: And here it's a
text option, right? So if you want to add some text in your sketches
or the drawings, you can click that one. But as a result of
adding this one, and it will add another
text layer over here. If I click that one, you
can notice that here. And another layer
will be added here. As an example, if I type world. So here I place it over here. You can notice that here I can, if I move my cursor
towards this one and press the left mouse
button and move it like this. And then it will move. And if I press this one
and then it will scale it like this right here. If I press this one, and then it will uniformly
scale that one, right? And press that one
and scale it maybe in this direction or in
this direction, right? That's the scale option for you. And then you can,
if you press down this one and move it like this, then it will rotate like this. I'm going to close this one. However, even if I add
this text on my drawings, it will be added as a separate
layer on that, right? So it's a separate layer, doesn't connect
these two things. And even I can not be able to grow anything on
this layer as well, because it's a
separate layer for only this particular text. We can not draw
anything for that, but you need to
do is if you want to draw something newly, you need to create
another layer by adding plus icon of this one. Or you need to press this layer because you are currently
in this third layer. You can sketch anything on this layer as shown
in the cursor. But you can do
sketching on this layer because it's a sketch layer. You can sketch something
like this, right? Or what you can do is you can rasterize this text layer
into a sketch layer. That means it's a text, right? Currently you can
edit it, right? If I press and hold
on the text layer. And then I wanted to click
this one edit text layer. And then I can change it to
worlds or blah, blah, blah. I can change them. Now. I have to click
that one and hold it. And I need to click this one
or rasterize text layer. And then the layer will be a rasterized into
a sketch layer. Right now, I cannot be
able to edit it, right, since you can see
that there is no, a good way to edit that text, but it's a sketch. But I can adjust that or erase them because
it's a sketch. If I increase my eraser, so then you can notice
that it's a sketch, right? So that is the
difference between the text layer and
Eros polarized. It takes the layer rasterize the text layer means
it's a sketch, right?
8. 8. Autodesk Sketchbook Guide Curves: Now what I'm going to do is
I'm going to explain it to some important and interesting
things in sketchbook. Need to change the color, double-click that, and
change it to black. Here if I click
this one and then they have some guides, right? So they are interesting
because we can press them like this and we can add some straight lines like
this by adding a ruler. And the best thing
here is it has measurements itself right here. If I click that point and I want to place the
point over here. And let's say I want to
measure that on the place. Maybe an angle here
from here to the angle, or maybe the x, y coordinates. Likewise, I can design some sketches having
accurate dimensions, right? So what is the purpose of
doing this ruler is basically, I need to place some end
points of the sketches to obtain the proper
proportions of the sketch. After I obtain the proportions and then I can easily
draw them, right? So that is why we
use a ruler over here with the scale option. So here you can adjust
them according to your desire and then
you can draw them right after placing this ruler, you can not be able to grow
something outside the ruler. That's the thing you need
to consider here, right? You can draw only
with the ruler. So the next guide is this
curve, right curved ruler. If you want to add some
interesting and smooth curves inside some good translations and then you can use
this ruler, right? I'm going to increase
the mockers thickness a little bit by pressing the right close bracket for so then you can understand
them easily, right? So that is the ruler for you. So in this roller, this is the point. You can select this point, and then you can
select this point. So these are constraint
points, right? So this option is N scale option if you want
to scale those points. And then you can do that by
having adjusting that one. You have to click that by
pressing the left mouse button. And then you have to move
your mouse upwards or downwards to scale
up and down, right? Then this is called
as a meter option. And then this curve
as an example, if I had a curve
like this and if I press this one and then it
will be mirrored like this. Then the other one
is rotating option. You can rotate the
curves like this to adjust according to
your desire, like this. Lease. And then this
is the close button of this guide curve, right? I'm going to draw this shape. Maybe you can read like this. I just did like this. To draw some lines
like this, right? So that is how you can draw some guidelines by
using the ruler. It's a curved ruler. And then you have some
interesting shapes like this one. It's an ellipse. By using ellipse, you can draw some different kinds of
shapes in perspective. That's the important thing
you can consider over here. Here, I'm going to add an ellipse properly to
draw perfectly, right? You have to scale
it down like this. And then maybe you can add some shapes over here like this. You can add it, increase it by like this pressing
and holding like this, you have to press and hold your mouse left button towards, upwards or downwards to
have the shape like this. And then you can rotate it like this according to your desire, whatever it may be, and you have to place
it accordingly. And then you can
draw these shapes. And then the thing
I need to tell it when we are placing this one, if you want a Zoom
in your Canvas, you need to scroll
it down like this, but the ruler will
stay as it is. It will not go zooming, right? So then if you move that
one, maybe accidentally, you need to adjust your
ruler again, right? So then you need to
adjust your ruler again and then you
can obtain a shape. Here. It's another curve
called as French curve, and then French curves. This one, this one, this 13 different actually, so three different French
curves, actually sketchbook. So here you can scale them down to see them in our Canvas. Like this. Scale them up along curves. If you want to have
some long curves, you can use that. Maybe like this. We want to adjust
something like this. Scale them for their
skeleton. Right? So I want to erase this. So maybe this one, right? So then you can obtain
those kinds of shapes. I think, using an
eraser shape like this. Right? So here you
can play around with these things to obtain
a better shape, right? So you can adjust them, maybe you can rotate them
like this to obtain a shape, whatever you wanted
to have here, right? So that is the French
curve for you. You can adjust them and play
around with those curves. I will explain them when we are talking about
some examples.
9. 9. Autodesk Sketchbook Perspective Guides: The next thing in
sketchbook we're going to see is perspective
guides, right? So if I click that
and then it will open up a perspective guide. And I'm currently on the
single-point perspective mood. So why do we use this kind
of perspective guides? So the reason behind it is if we wanted to illustrate
something realistically, then we need to consider the perspective
view guides, right? So as an example, let's say we are going to
draw some street lights and then it has only one
point perspective. And then we need to constrain by the
boundary lines, right? So the vertical lines
will come like this. And of course the horizon, the lines will come like this. But the other lines, that means the
diagonal lines and other lines will converge
into this point. So that is why we call them as single-point
perspective, right? So this line will
converge into that one. And this line will converge
into that one right? In between. This will act as a wall. But the distance between
this and this and this, they are equal in length. So they have equal length. But the problem here
is it's perspective. It will look like
shorter and shorter when they go longer and longer
from our eye level. Right. And then the first strip light will be somewhere over here, and then the second street light will be somewhere over here. And then the third one will
be somewhere over here. Right? So that is how
we draw some kinds of single-point
perspective lines by using these kinds of guides. So basically, I prefer to use a two-point
perspectives so that in order to obtain the reference
marks of the lines, I used to do this
two-point mood, right? So the two-point months, it's similar to what we have learned on our first
point perspective. If I click that and then the two points will
be there, right? Two vanishing points
are there and the lines will converge onto
those two points, right? So as an example, if I draw a house like this, and then the house, this line will converge
to that point. And this line will also
converge to that point. So similarly on the house, on the side and this side
will also converge like this and like this, right? So then we can have some
kinds of drawings like this. And then maybe if we have a window that will
also converge, so each and every
line will converge onto those two points. Alright? So basically, the trick
behind considering these two point
perspective is usually, usually placed those two points outside of my canvas
or the paper, and then try to
draw some drawings. So then it will be more realistic if I draw it
on my Canvas, right? So that is a technique behind just you can place
the vanishing points outside of your Canvas and try to draw something
on your canvas. So then that will be more
realistic than that. You get an idea about that one. So it's a two point perspective. There are two vanishing
points on this sketch. And as an example, if I obtain a new one and then go to this three
point perspective, and then everything
on the drawing will converge to three
vanishing points. As an example, if I draw
something like this and this will be
going to that one, this will be going to this one. So like this, this will converge into three
points, right? So that means that
we have our eye on in this direction over here. And then this will converge into this point and this
point and this point. So that is how we draw
three-point perspectives. And another one we have
here is the Frechet mode. In this mode, if you
want to draw some kinds of geometrical shapes
or the patterns. And then you can use them to draw something
like this, right? So they will converge into
those points and then we can draw some kinds of
shapes like this, right? So that is why we have this one. Then we have a snap
or on snap option. And then if you select that on your two-point
perspective, if you set that to
the snap option. And then I can snap that one, we can draw lines outside of the perspectives
as well like this. But if you uncheck this one and you cannot be able to
grow something, right? So if you want to quickly draw some lines that are not to
be on the perspective line. You can check it or
unchecking, right? So if you check that, if you snap that, you can only draw lines
along with the perspective. That means it will converge
to these vanishing points. But if you uncheck that, you can draw whatever
the line you like. Right here, there's a lock
or unlock vanishing points. If you'll look the vanishing
points and then you don't have the option to change
the vanishing points, right? So that is why we
have a look option. Here. It's a show or hide the
horizon line, right? So it will hide or
show if you want to see the horizon line right now, you can sketch them quickly. If you are on snap that. If you snap that and then it
will be like this, right? So that is why we use those
kinds of perspective guides.
10. 10. Autodesk Sketchbook Symmetry: The next thing that we are
going to see is symmetry. We have three different
symmetry options. For S1 is vertical symmetry. That means it will be symmetrical
along with the y-axis. And the next one is
horizon tell symmetry, that means x symmetry. Whatever we draw, if I
uncheck that and you can see only the horizon dosimetry,
whatever I draw. And it will be symmetrical
along with x axis. And in here, we can have
both symmetry axis as well. As an example, if I obtain
bullets, symmetry options, whatever I draw on
a one quadrant that will be repeated on the other three quadrants
as well, right? Like this, whatever I draw here, they will be symmetrical on
the other quadrants as well. So that's why we use those
kinds of symmetry option. If you wanted to draw some shapes like this,
we can draw them. The next one we have here
is a radial symmetry. If I check that the other
symmetries will go over. And then we have a
radial symmetry. We can increase or
decrease the numbers of how many radial symmetry
is that we wanted to have. So if you wanted to
draw some kinds of shapes like this or
maybe your flowers, we can use these kind
of symmetry option for us to obtain
those things, right? So the next one here is extend or stop strokes
at center line. It's quite a bit useful
if you uncheck that. What you can do is you can draw the lines vary over
the place you'd like. But if you check that
light like this, if you have this
stopped strokes at central line option
and then you cannot be able to pass over the line. That means if you are in
this line in this area, you cannot be able to pass
after that area, right? So that is the limitation
of this one here. If you want, you can use them. Here. It's similarity, lock or unlock the symmetry
lines, right? So it will be locked. You can not be able
to change them. If you look, then
if you unlock them, then you can change or replace them by
using this one, right? And the other
option we have here is show or hide symmetry lines. If you want to see or hide
the symmetrical lines, then you can check this
or uncheck this, right? So that's how it works.
11. 11. Autodesk Sketchbook Latency, Predictive Stroke and Shapes: Now we are going to say, what is this one? This is called as steady stroke. And let's say if
you want to have some delays when you are doing
the strokes as an example, if you want a drawing like this, and then you'll have
an option like this. By using this delay, you can move your mouse
cursor somewhere like this, and then you can obtain a curved surface
like this, right? So that is why we
use that state. That means that it will have a time dilation between your strokes and
your most, right. So that is why we use them. So here you can go
over like this. You can change your
motion direction and suddenly like this. So if we want to
draw some kinds of shapes with the delay
option, you can use them. Here. You can increase or
decrease the delay, right? So I'm on my maximum. So if I draw like this, and then you can notice that
how much it delays, right? So by using this delay, I can move my mouse cursor
somewhere else. I need them. And then I can move
it like this, right? So that is why we use them. And here, it's an
interesting thing. I pretty loud to use this. It's a predictive stroke. So we can increase or
decrease them, right? So why we use predictive
strokes, right? So basically, they
are very interesting. If we are having
a low DPI mouse, then we can use this to draw some kinds of
geometrical shapes. As an example, if you
draw a ellipse like this, and then it will
automatically make it as an ellipse, right? So that is why we use this
predictive stroke, right? So if you draw some
shaky lines and then it will make it as
good line for you. And then it will draw a pretty much good
shape of it, right? So you can increase
or decrease it according to your desire, how much you like to
have a shapes, right? So that is why we use them in our designs for
predicting strokes. If you are losing
a low DPI mouse, of course you can use them. But if you are using a stylus or the pen on your
computer or your tablet, or externally used as a
device to draw something. And I highly recommend for
you to obtain such a way, then you can draw it by
your hand on a sketchbook. It will be pretty much
easy and interesting. The next thing on the sketchbook
that we are going to see is this one is called
as a droves tire. Here, if you want to draw
some kinds of lines, you can use them, right? So time-to-time, if we
want to draw the lines, we need to click and hold. And then release
it, click and hold. And we have Drew
lazy according to the lines we want, right? So, but this one is different. It's a polyline. That means it's a
continuous line. We have to click and hold it
and place it somewhere else. Offer a whole and
released that one. And then it will ask me to
place another line on there. And then it will ask me
to place another line, another line like wise, we can obtain a poly
line like this. If I double-click that one, it will close the
lines segments, right? That means it will be
the end of that one. Right here is a
rectangle, right? So you can place an drag and
place it like this, right? Likewise, you can draw
some kinds of rectangles. And this is oval shape. If you want to draw some
kind of oval shapes, you can use them to draw them. But if you hold the Shift on your keyboard and then
you can draw the circles, ovals if you hold your shift. And then you can draw
some circles, right? So those are the shapes
we have in sketchbook. The next thing we have
here is a layers. I already explained. What is a layer?
12. 12. Autodesk Sketchbook Layers: Now here I'm going to go with
a deep one with the layers. Layer can be named
as a sheet of paper. You can think of like that, but it's a transparent
one, right? One by one. You can play some kinds
of sheets and draw whatever the paper you want
to draw it right here. The background layer
can now be changed, but maybe you can show
or hide the layer. But if you double-click
on this one, so then you can change the color of your background, right? So likewise, you can change
the color of your background. Then this is the first layer. It should be there
to grow something. You can now delete
the first layer. But here if you click this plus icon and then you
can add some kinds of layers. Or you can press control
plus L to add some kinds of layers over it and
blessing that one. So then you can add
some kinds of layers or done right here. I'm currently on this layer, fifth layer because it's highlighted on the
blue color mark. If you want to change what layer you want it
to do the sketching. So then you have to
click that fourth layer if you want to edit or
draw some kinds of things. And here it's called as
opacity of your layer. So you can increase
or decrease that one. For an example, I need to choose a white color to sketch
on the black background. So I sketch like this on the fourth layer and I
reduce the transparency. That means opacity. This is how it will
look like, right? So basically I
draw some kinds of background shapes or
some rough drawings. And then I reduce the opacity of the layer and over on the layer, that means on the fifth layer, maybe over the layer
of the previous one. I used to draw the shapes
perfectly like this, shape, like this. Right? And this is how the layers work. We can set them as
a reference one. And then we can draw some
kinds of shapes according to the reference sketches or
even reference images, right? So that is why we use those
kinds of things. Here. This one is reorder or layer. If you want to reset
your sheets of paper in front of them or
about them, or below them. You can rearrange them
by clicking this one and moving them according
to your desire, right? So now you have seen that the fifth layer comes
below the third layer. This is called as a lock
transparency, right? So if you'll look that
transparency and then you cannot be able to draw
something on the layer. The layer is fixed, right? So this layer is fixed. And if you uncheck that and you can draw some kinds of
shapes on that layer, right? So that is why we use them. We can reorder them right here. You're going to show
or hide that layer. That layer you can
show or hide them. And then here you can change how it should blend
with another layer, maybe a darken blend
or multiply them. Likewise, you can
change how the layers should blend
together, right here. If you click and hold on
that layer leftmost button, if you click and hold your left mouse
button on that layer, then you will have some bunch of different options
available for you. Hide the layer,
duplicate the layer. You can add some new layers
or them Delete layer, delete that particular layer. Or the layer. Of course, you can
rename the layer for your later verbose. Or if you want to transfer
that file to your other users, and then you can transform
them by renaming those layers. It's a good practice renaming
layers and merge all, merge all the layers
and to act as a single sheet of paper and
then merged with below layer. That means it will merge
the below paper and this paper will be merged
to act as a single paper. So that is why we use this
merge with them below layer shortcut key is control
class II and locked layer. So if you lock that layer, then you cannot be able to do or change or edit
anything on the layer. But you can reorder
this layer, of course. But you can not be
able to edit or draw something on
that layer, right? That is the local layer option. If you want to unlock that, you will have to hold it
and then you have to move your mouse cursor on that and you have to release it, right? So that is how you
unlock your layers. And this is called as a group. And if you click that and
you can add a group, right? So here, if you click that
layer and add to that layer, and then it will be grouped. And here you can
click that layer and move it to that folder. So then these two will be on these group two folder, right? Likewise, you can group them
according to your desire. Right here you can change
the layers button as well. Maybe the colors,
maybe red color one. So then the group
color really changed. Of course you can change
this as well, right? So here you can change
different kinds of layer colors for you to quickly understand what is
the layer is about. Color codes, right? Then this is called as image. If I click that and I can add some images to that one, right? So if I have this image, and then I can add then at that particular image
to my sketchbook. And then I can start drawing or start attacking that one, right? Maybe I can reduce that
opacity like this. And then they can, on the, on the layer, I can
draw the lines. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to delete all the layers. So I need to click this one, hold shift and select this one. So these layers are selected. And I'm gonna go to this
menu option and delete that, then that layers will
be deleted, right? So that's the layer for you, hopefully understandable
these layers option. And we will move on to
the brushes, right? So this is called
S brush pallet. So if I check this and then
it will show if I unchecked
13. 13. Autodesk Sketchbook Brushes: That will be hidden right
here on this brush pallet. You have pencil, and then you
have airbrush and marker, chisel tip, pen, etc. So you have a bunch
of different options available for you to
choose from, right? So this is a pencil and
you can erase them, right? So to increase the
size of that one, you can do it in
a couple of ways. If you double-click
that and then you have the size over here, you can increase it
or decrease it by adjusting the handle
and amount of erased. How many amongst you
want it to be erased. So I prefer to use hundred
percent for this eraser. So close that, so then I
can erase them like this. Alright, so the next way is using the shortcut keys, right? So for the shortcut key
is increasing this one. You can increase it
by pressing this one, you can, can decrease
them, right? So if I press 0 on your keyboard and move
your mouse upwards, so then you can
increase amount erased, move your mouse down wars. You can reduce ammonia
erased, right? Okay, understand about that one. Like this. Right? So you can draw
some shapes, right? And then you can paint it
with the different color. You can select a
different color. Maybe you need to increase
the brush size, right? Likewise, I can paint it. Right? This one, we can have some
blurriness options like days. Of course, we can have some different options
available here. You can choose from
different items, right? So now we're going to learn how we can change these pencils. For that, we can click
this one so that the brush properties will be appearing or you can double-click
that particular pin. Here. This pen is available with the different size of flow, right? And witness, right? So you can adjust it and
draw them like this, right? So if you click that
and then it will open up your brush
library, right? So here you can change which brush library you want to have or that one. Alright? If you are an artist,
you can use them or pastels are colorless, right? You can choose from different brushes available
on Autodesk sketchbook. I wanted to have this
pallet to be there. What do you need to
do is you have to click this and hold your mouse. And then you have to go to this, been set to pellet option, then that will be pinned
on your palette, right? And then you can move upwards or downwards, or these libraries. And then you have bunch
of different options. New brush set. If you want to create
a new brush set, of course you can do
that and customize them. And this one is new brush. You can add new brushes
to your sets and a copy brush, brush, brush set. This is another thing
that we are going to see over here, right here. Export brush said, if you have customized and created
your own one brush, it's set, then you
can upload it, or maybe you can sell
it online. Right? Now, we are going to see how we can exactly import a brush set. For that, we need to download a brush set for
Autodesk sketchbook. And then after
what we need to do is we need to go to the library. And then we have to go
and select this one, hold the left mouse button. And then we have to click
this import brush set option. And then our curve, we need to select
the downloaded file for the brush set here. This is the example file
set that I have downloaded. And I need to click Open
and then offer some time. And then your brush sets will be imported into our library. And then what we need
to do is we need to select this brush set and then we need to apply it to brush pallet to
place it down here. To do that, we need to go and select this pin set to palette. So then our palette
will be appearing here. And then we can
close this library. And then we can use our brush set that we have downloaded. You can choose our palette
and roll the lines
