1. Introduction: Do you want to know how to describe a projectile
to an employee? What to do if an employee doesn't complete
the job on time. This course is all about dealing with this
type of scenarios. There are a lot of scenarios that you face on a daily basis. And dealing with those
scenarios is a tough job. As a leader, you have to
make the right decisions. And to make the right decisions, you need to have a
leadership mindset. In this course, you will get 20 scenarios that will test
your leadership mindset. And I will explain
that choice of the right decision
that should be taken. Hi, my name is Elizabeth Dean. I'm a self-employed
person working on my own and my client's
content projects. This course is for everyone
who wants to become a leader or someone who has some experience
in leadership. By the end of this course, you will be confident in
making the right decisions. So I invite you to
join me in this class. Let's get started.
2. The Marketing Project: Suppose you're new
client gets you a marketing project
with a short deadline. And you have to create a
banner as soon as possible. You have a graphic designer
whose name is Lily. Now, there are two ways you
describe this project to lay. The first one is, Lily. We need to provide our
marketing solutions for our new client. Your job is to
design the winner. Are you ready for this task? And he answers there too? Yes, sir. I'm very excited. The second way to
despite the project is, hey Lily, lily, you need to design a banner for
our new client. Please start working
tomorrow onwards. And she answers that. Thanks for giving me
this opportunity. Now, the question is, which description will help
the client in the best way? The answer is the description. Let's understand this with
the explanation given by a Harvard Business School
professor, Linda Hill, a professor at the
Harvard Business School, says that connect employee
goals to larger company roles. If the employee is you don't
know the roles they play in a bigger project or company success are less likely to be engaged
in their job. People want to be a part
of bigger objectives. It gives them a sense
of achievement. As a result, they work harder and are more likely
to perform better. If you choose the
first two description. That means you are giving
Lily an opportunity to work on a bigger project and she's more likely
to perform well. As she will realize that too. If she completes the
banner creation on time, then it will be an achievement. On the other hand, if you
choose the second description, then Lily will not feel much
excited about the project. As a result, she might
not work harder. This is a difficult situation because when you get projects, then you start thinking
about completing them. And most people forget
about their employees. And that is the reason creating
an impact becomes harder. This is all about right? Communication skills. So as a leader, you must do think about your employees first
and talk to them. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
3. Motivation with Incentives: Do you think incentive
motivates everyone? Yes or no? The correct weights would be no. Everyone has different
dreams in life. And that might not
be only money. Some people want to grow by
learning instead of burning. Because they understand
learning will make them improve and then they can unmoored,
then any incentive. Also, there are people who want a peaceful life and
sufficient money. So if they are earning enough, then their focus is
to maintain peace. A leader's job is to
understand the concerns of people in place of just offering incentives
to motivate them. For example, if someone wants to learn a new
programming language, then gifting the course of that programming
language will make him happier than incentives to
figure out others concerns. Or leader needs to have a friendly relationship
with them. Because people are
more likely to express their true intentions
to friendly people. I hope now you understand why incentives are always not the
best choice for motivation. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
4. Monthly Invoice: Let's have a look at this
email conversation between a director and employ
and the HR manager. The director sends an
e-mail to an employee with the HR manager, NCC high. We are putting things in
place to make sure we are doing everything right from
a legal point of view. So you will have to
sign an agreement. Once the agreement is signed, then you can resume working
on for their assignments. Also, you will need to raise your invoice on a monthly basis. The employer replies, I have signed the
agreement and center it. Then the director replies
and referred to HR manager. Please check and confirm
if everything is correct. Once you give the go ahead, we will proceed with
the next assignment. The HR manager checks everything and replies
to both of them. The invoice we received will fulfill all our
requirements for now. Therefore, we can get the
monthly invoice now onwards, the employees and the
current month's submission in the same e-mail
thread and wrote. Please find the attached submission invoice
for the scene. After this, in the next month, employees and the submission. But the director
refused the summation saying the employee must wait for the approval
from HR manager. Now, who is wrong
in this situation? The director employ both
of them or none of them. The correct choices,
both of them are wrong. The director is
wrong because he did not mention that the
employee will have to wait for the approval of the HR manager before sending
any further submissions. The employee is wrong
because he should have asked the HR
manager whether the invoice details
were complete or not before sending the
summation to the director. It was done in the same
manner previously, but the director is more
guilty in this situation. As a leader, his communication must be very clear to avoid any misunderstanding
because the director did not inform the
employee that he would need to seek
confirmation from the HR manager to obtain
approval for the summation. The employee acted
without hesitation. So as a leader, you must communicate
very clearly. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
5. An Employee's Problem: An employee whose name is John, tells his manager,
my father wants to divorce my mother and
leave both of us. I don't understand what to do. I need a few days leave
to sort this out. Manager says, okay, if you
need any help from my side, you can always call me. John replies, Yes, sir. I will call you first. Now, what do you think should the manager involving
Jones family problems? Yes or no? The right choice would be yes. A lot of people think
that they should not get involved in others
personal problems. But our leader must listen to others personnel as well
as professional problems. Because this will build
trust between the two. If a leader will listen
and help the other person, then this person is
more likely to solve the problem in the future
at his or her best level. If you will listen to others
or help them in any way, then this act of care will
change the view of pupil. But it cannot be done
in a month or two. Obviously, it takes
time to build trust. Sometimes people ask
for help just to check whether they can rely on a
leader or not at all times. I hope you got my point. Can, for watching this video, I'll see you in the next video.
6. Proposal Presentation: A colleague who
stops or loud while giving the proposal
presentation to a client. But the client
accepts the proposal. In this situation,
should you, as a leader, explain this mistake to that colleague about
presentation skills? Yes or no, the correct
choice would be yes. Because a leader always try to take out the
best in everyone. Even if the client
accepted the proposal. It does not mean that the
colleague need not to improve. A leader should try to
explain difficult things in a way that does not spoil
the mood of the person. Or we can say that a leader
should try to behave well in an awkward or
embarrassing situation for himself and others. Therefore, the colleague
should be corrected, but in a polite way. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
7. Making a Mistake as a Leader: Leaders who must not make mistakes in front of
other colleagues. Do you think it is
true? Yes or no? The characterize would be no. Inherently, everyone tries
to not make mistakes, but everyone makes them. This is human nature. As a leader, you can
also make mistakes. You should have the
courage to accept them. That will make you
different from others. Because most people try to avoid accepting their mistakes. On the other hand,
if start making improvements by taking
feedback from friends, colleagues, family members,
or whomever they trust. Therefore, you should remember that making mistakes
is not a problem, but not accepting them
could be a big problem. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
8. Business Idea of an App Developer: Let's listen to a business
idea of an app developer. I am an app developer and want to make an app like Amazon, but I don't have money. That is the reason I'm working hard in my job to make money. Once I will have enough money, then I will start
building the app. Does this thinking make
people successful? Yes or no? The right choice would be known. If you choose yes, that means you choose
circumstances over to Access. But we must choose twice
this over circumstances. Suppose this is
your business idea. Now, what you are doing is
you are choosing us safe way. This is not a leader's approach. A leader takes risks. Leader always try to find the best possible solution to the problems without
wasting any time. Therefore, you must start
working on your app idea. Even if you do not
have enough money, you can spend some
of your time working on building the app
along with your job. This would be the best solution to deal with the
financial problems. If you do not have savings or
you can talk to investors. If it's fine for you
to share your profits. A lot of millionaires and billionaires extracted
with little money, but that did not stop
them because they choose to isis over
circumstances. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
9. The party dress: Listen to this conversation
between Maria and John. John to Mario. Hey, Maria, I'm giving a party tonight
and you are invited. Now, Maria replies to John. Okay, John, I will come. Maria is a poor girl and
does not own good dresses, but to not leave a bad
impression on others. She rented a dress for
twenty-five dollars, then went to the party. Do you think Maria is right? Yes or no? The correct choice would be no. No, because she'd dress to impress by using the
things she does not own. If people like her
because of her clothes, that means she's in
the wrong company. People must be liked by
their character and conduct. In steward of their addresses. By renting, she showed that she is not living a life
true to herself, but the life expected by others. This is not a leader's approach. Always apps based on his or her true feelings
not to impress others. This can be learned from the
simplicity or similar PGI, Warren Buffet and
Mark Zuckerburg cans for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
10. Study Routine: The routine of an
economics student. A student of economics
will invest only 15 minutes a day with focus
and for the whole year. Do you think that there is a possibility this is
terrain can get good grade. So in the final exam, yes or no, the right
choice would be yes. There is less chance. But yes. If a student studies the whole year
consistently with focus, even if he or she
spent a little time, there are chances to
get good grades because focused with consistency is more valuable than
any other thing. The same as the thing
with leadership. If you look at
successful leaders, you will find that
most of them have the same consistent routine in their daily life and that makes them
achieve their purpose. They also applied this
consistency in their business. For example, even
after not earning a single penny from Alibaba
in the first three years, Jack Ma continued his company and he's a well-known
billion or just because his reason was clear and he consistently
for lobe his vision. So the lesson is, consistency with focus
will make a change. Tense for watching this video, I'll see you in the next video.
11. The hundred dollars: Let's listen to this story of two colleagues, Lucy and Jack. Lucy is a manager of
the marketing team and jet work through in the IT department and
they are friends. One day, Jack asked
to Lucy to Lando $100 and promised to give
it back within a week. After a week. Jack does not give
that money back. When they meet in the office, Lucy asked him about
the money and he says, I will give it to you. Don't worry. After a few days. Who does the same thing? Now, Lucy is getting angry
because of his behavior, but she does not say
anything to him. Gradually, she stops
asking about debt money, but does not change
her behavior. She does not ask
about the money, but offers her help in the projected Jack
is currently working on she believes that what's gone is gone and live her life happy. Do you think Lucy's right? Yes or no? The right choice
it would be yes. Because Lucy did not hold a grudge against
Jack and moved on. If she would do hold a grudge, then she will expand
her tan thinking about Jack's behavior and harmony.
This will hurt her. Therefore, she chose gratitude over a bridge and live
her life happily. Research says that people who hold grudges or less
likely to forgive, more likely to have higher blood pressure and
die from heart disease. Letting off graduates is one
of the most difficult tasks, especially in situations
when money is involved. But a leader must try
to overcome grudges and show gratitude because grudges
can never benefit them. To stop holding a grudge, you'll need to
practice gratitude. As a leader, you cannot stop continuing your relationship
with other colleagues. Therefore, you would
need to help them to change their behavior
by offering help. In this way, you can make a healthier culture
in your office. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
12. Top Notch Solutions: As a leader, should
you expect that top-notch solutions from people
to become a millionaire? Yes or no. The right
choice would be no. Expecting top-notch deserts
is not alluded quality. Because alluded understand that different people have
different abilities. The job of a leader
is to help them reach their full potential
and explore themselves. In this way, people can
improve themselves and come out as top experts in
their respective fields. So the lesson is alluded, should motivate others to reach their full potential so that
they can become top experts. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
13. The incomplete task: The Incomplete Tasks. William is a marketing
manager and Eva works, as I say it's executed. Eva works in Ethan's team, who is the immediate
manager of UVA, William Gaver task to Ethan. Ethan tells Eva to
complete that task, but Eva fails to complete
that task on time. Then William called both of
them and shouted at EVA. Do you think William
is right? Yes or no? The characterize would be no. There is a sing praise in
public and teaching private. Since Ethan was there, EVA is likely to fail.
More embarrassed. William could have called
Eva alone and asked to about the reasons behind
the incomplete task. If William called both of them, then he should ask about the
reasons in a polite way. Maybe she had a genuine reasons. But if shouting would be
done in front of others, then the relationship
between William and Eva will never become good. Also, even a full volume
cost, even private. Then shouting is not the
correct way to teach. The lesson is our leaders presents must make
others feel comfortable. Institute of miserable. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
14. Extra working hours: Extra working hours. The CEO of X, Y, Z company, he leaves the office on time and one of the employees
live webinar later. What do you praise
this employee? Yes or no? The right
choice would be no. Hair should not be praised, but must be Chad. Duty is to make sure that everyone follows
the company rules. If someone is taking an extra, then what is the
reason behind it? He should not be played, but must be checked. That reason must be removed. This employee is
either not able to complete his work on
time or showing it off, or using company property, etc.. Working more hours
is not a capability, but an inability if you
are not doing extra work. This can change
the culture inside the company and
pupil fillet starts staying longer than normal as their personal life
will be impacted. As a result, people
who want to spend their time with their family
members will not get time. Their family will not believe that the company cares for them. So the lesson is to run our long-term
successful business. The rules must be followed. If anyone is going beyond, then there should
be a check on them. One wrong step containing the company culture and it becomes difficult
to combat them. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
15. Oil and Meat: Listen to this history of two
friends, Shawn and James. James, Sean. I'm selling mustard
oil from home. Sometimes I think I should sell it on the
roadside to learn more. Once I will earn more than
I can expand my business. Chan replies, You know, I have a shop and
you can rent it. But I want to sell minute in that shop so we can work
together in that shop. And leukemia, small rent. Now, James says, that's good. I will do it. Tense. My friend. Boo think James
decision is right. Yes or no. The right choice would be no. If James wants to
expand his business, then any decision
that may hamper his future sales should be
taken into consideration. Since Sean wants to
sell mute in his shop. Along with James,
customers of James who are non-vegetarian or likely
to not buy from him. Therefore, genes will
be ultimately at loss. So the lesson is alluded. Decision must be
taken strategically by taking pupil and the
future into consideration. Otherwise, even big
companies can go bankrupt. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
16. Sales Executive: Lesson of leadership
from a sales executive. Men Eva, our sales executives at an apparel store, M2 Eva, I believe in never
judging a book by its cover either replies,
Really, that's nonsense. It looks matter. Have you ever seen a marketing
manager wearing a t-shirt? But they might do so. There is no harm in it. Eva forget it. I don't want to talk about it. The other day. Alluded
to that store veering Garden to talk to the lady. Welcome, ma'am. How can I help you
Eva clear Lehman? We do not have anything
for you. No, no. Please tell me what are
you looking for, Lady? Actually someone
polled chicken soup on my top by accident. And I need to go to a meter now. Please show me the
best suit you have. Money doesn't matter. Which lesson of leadership can be learned from this story. Leaders are good at
convincing people. Are leaders, walk their talk. The right choices. Leaders walk the talk. Hear ME told that she believes in never judging
a book by its cover, and she did the same. So the lesson is, never says things that he
or she can do personally. This does not mean a leader
knows and does everything. But here she says things
that are possible in their vision and their
actions reflect them. It is not necessarily related
to technical expertise, but to social behavior. Thanks for watching this video, I'll see you in the next video.
17. Dining Table & the Manager: Listen to this conversation
between a CEO, sales executive, manager, fails, executive tells to see you. Sir, I don't like one
thing about this company. Ceo replies, What, please turn? Sales executive tells him, Sir, the dining table for
managers is different. And for us, it is different. And ours is not well-maintained. It is very old and dirty. If you can do
something about that, it will be appreciated. Now, the CEO calls a
manager and asked him, how many days would you need
to replace this whole table. Manager says, it will
take at least a week. After listening to the
manager's response, the CEO announces
that now onwards, managers who will sit on that
table on the first, third, fifth day of the week, and others who will
sit on the second, fourth, sixth day of the week. Now many they're replaced
that table within a day because he had
to sit at the table. Which leadership
quality was shown by the CEO, integrity or empathy. The right choices. Empathy, alluded, always
shows empathy to people and never discriminate based on gender, position, et cetera. This brings joy to the life of people and they
feel more secure. So the lesson is
that as a leader, you should never discriminate. Otherwise, employees will never
feel secure and they will not prefer to become long-term
members of the company. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
18. Product Design Improvement: Let's listen to this history of a manager and a
digital marketer or manager who manages the
product design team and marketing team
in his company, interviewed very talented
digital marketer and hired him as a team leader for the
marketing department. After some time, the
manager asks him that if he can manage
the product design team. As he's going on
leave for a few days, the team leader says yes. Now, when the manager is back, he finds that product design is still on the same
stage as he left. There is no improvement. Who is responsible for no improvement in
the product design? The manager or the team leader, the right choices manager. Because the manager did not ask the team leader whether he knew about product
design or not. The lesson from this story is, if a leader is given an
opportunity to someone, then he or she
needs to understand whether the person can
handle the job or not. Understanding the
capabilities of others is a leadership escaped? It is better to give more
time to a job then to think about to doing it well in a shorter time with
unskilled people. Since the team leader did not
know about product design, then it would be better to, to someone from the product
design to handle the team. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
19. Headache of an employee: Listen to this history of
a manager and an employee. An employee as the manager to give him two more days
to complete the project, who did not meet the
deadline given to him and says that
he has a headache. The manager can
extend the deadline easily because the
project is internal. So the manager decided to do it, but does not tell about the importance of the
project to the employee. The manager tells
him that he can submit their project
a day after tomorrow. Do you think the
manager is correct? Yes or no? The right choice would be yes. The manager did the right thing because he showed that, hey, trust to the employee and distrustful will be helpful for the manager in the future. It is very important to gain the trust of employees because this trust will help the leader to get more
things done by people. If the manager has I stripped
to deadline in the future, that can not be extended, then he can ask the same employed to work
harder and faster. And he can even ask him
to work for long hours. So the lesson is
that if it is truly possible for a leader to favor an employee, then
he should do it. Because this will build
trust between the two. You might be thinking that after seeing this
behavior of yours, other employees might
do the same thing. They will also have
headaches or other pains. Yes, they will do it. But the solution
to this problem is that you will need to
inform the employee you favored and other implies that every time you
cannot favor them, it would not be
possible for you. But if it will be possible,
then you will do it. And if you have to expect
this information yourself, if you continue your
behavior in this way, then employees will
understand that you stick to your words and you
really favor them. But when it is possible, but when it is not possible, then you do not do it. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
20. Intentions and their Reflection: Intention, so always
reflect in the character of a person and everyone
understands it. Will be you agree with this? Yes or no? As a leader, you should choose yes. Because it is true
that intentions are reflected in the
character of a person. If a person does not have a positive intention
towards something, then your natural behavior
will showcase it. And the reason is that we, as human beings, cannot
fake gestures all the time. By default, we displayed
natural behavior and faking it for a long time continuously is not everyone's cup of tea. Therefore, a leader must
have a positive intention. Otherwise, the
reputation will be destroyed once the
position is no more. For example, if people
love to Barack Obama, only when he was
president of the USA, that means he was a
positional leader. But if people love him, even after his position
was taken by someone, then he will be called
an influential leader. The benefit of becoming an influential leader is that you will always
get respect to, which is one of the most
important aspects of life. And secondly, people will align their vision
with your visa. If people see that you
have positive intentions, then they will trust you. And if they trust you, that means they will trust
in your vision as well. As a result. They will
follow your vision, which is again, due to
your positive intentions. So the lesson is
that a leader should always have positive
intentions towards people, towards work, towards
his reason and torso, every aspect of life. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
21. Goal Matching: Listen to this interview story. A person named Liu appears for an interview and the
interviewer tells Leo. Leo you are a computer
science graduate, but your experiences in
marketing of a software. And in the last two years, you've worked in technical
content development. We are a pure technical
content development company and your profile matches
with our requirement. I will talk to the manager and let you know about
that further step. Now, Leo says, okay,
That will be great. Suppose you are the manager. What do you call you for
the next round? Yes or no? The right choice would be no. Leo is not focused. He's a studies and even experiences do not
match the company's goal. Looking at the information
provided by Him shows that he might change his mind in the future and move
into another industry. Has you should not proceed
with him, our leader. So decision must be based on the available
information without considering base to why hiring, because of this key hiring than costal lot of time and money. So the lesson is that a leader should try
to make sure that the objective of the company and the person he or she
will hire a similar. Otherwise, both of them
will waste their time. Thanks for watching this video. I'll see you in the next video.
22. Class Project: Hi, This is the last
video of this class. So first of all, congratulations
on reaching here. Now let's discuss
the class project. The class project is, you have to make
decisions based on the lessons in this
class and analyse the results you get after there to explain the scenario
behind your decisions. The reason why did you take that particular
decision and share the results with me
in the class project. This might be timetabling, but if you come across
something interesting, I would love to hear them. So make sure to share
your decisions and that results in the
class project pens for watching this video, I wish you become
successful leader.
