1. Course Introduction: Hello friends. I'm your teacher for this class. In this Maya modeling class, we learn how to create a vintage locked-in model with the help of curves. First, we learn how to set a reference image so we can create curves with the help of this. And the next step is how to create, modify and place curves. After creating these curves, next step is creating surface. We also learned how to fix some problem. They occur when you apply a surface on the curve. First I create some curve and then apply surface. And in the next step we create other curve and apply surface. After creating all the curve and apply surface, next step is very important. In this, we learn how to create a small and important things, and we also learned how to properly place them with the help of other viewport. In the last, we learn how to apply material. So it will look realistic, like metal paint on the body and the transparent glass. So it's all about this class and it's time to enter in this interesting class. 2. Set Reference Image In Viewport: In this Autodesk Maya class, we learn how to create a model with the help of girl. So first you have to download some reference image so you can easily create different, different parts of that Lyle TIN model. So first I switch to Google Images. Here you can see some reference image for creating a lot and model. And I want to try to create this type TIN model. You can download some images. So you can easily create different, different parts of this law TIN model. And then you can place these reference images in the Autodesk Maya so you can easily draw these different, different parts. Now I switch to my application. Again. If you want to place any reference image, you have to choose sides viewport. So I press Spacebar and switch to any side report you can choose anyone. I provide a outline reference image for creating this 3D model. So first you have to download that reference image, then go to View menu, click on the image place, and then click on the Import button. Here you have to exit that directory where you download that reference image. Then select that image. Here you can see the preview of that reference image. Then click on the Open button. This image placed in the center of this grid. First, click outside to select and then select with a window selection. Next step is you have to lock this reference image. So by mistake, it will not move in an indirection or by mistake it will not rotate or scale. So select all the transform related properties like translate, rotate and scale by click, and drag. Then right-click and choose, Lock selected. So it will lock first, click outside, and then try to select. Now, if you try to move this, you are not able to move because it's log n. Here you can see a blue color line between these parameters are locked. Now you can save this file. In the next class, we start creating curves. 3. Start Creating Curves: Now we start creating curve, but before we start creating any curve, you have to create a new layer. By clicking on this icon. A new layer is created by double-click. You can rename this, I'll rename this curve. And then click on the Save button. For grading curve, I choose CV curve tool. It's available in the create curves tool. And then click on the CV curve tool. But before click on this, you have to click on the Settings button, then reset this CV curve tool is active now you can see in this area, first we create this oil tank. So I june this area, create first point on this grid and then create a straight line by pressing Shift key, click and hold on the Shift key and then click here. So straight line will be created. In this area, you have to create multiple points with the equal spacing. So click. Smooth curvature will be created with this way and then create other points. You want to create a smooth curve. You have to create some extra points with equal distribution. Now I create a straight line. So press the Shift key and then click here, then click multiple points. Then click here. Now I created this curvature areas. So click point with some distance. If you want to adjust at this position, just click and then press Enter key. After pressing Enter key, next step is modified this curve. For this, you have to create on the component type button. You click on this. You can select these control points and then modify them a little bit, and then create a window selections, select this curve. Make sure Move Tool is selected in case if we want to move this, you can select multiple points with the Windows selection and then place them. After modify all these control points switch to select Object button. Now we create this next body part. So I assume this area. We create this new curve with the curves snapping option. By clicking on this button, you can enable curves snapping. Or you can press C on the keyboard. When you press C, you can see this tool turn on. And when you release is turned on, you can manually click here. You can select CV curve tool from the Create menu, or you can click on the last tool icon, because last time we use this tool, then hover your mouse on this curve, you can see a yellow icon appear on the curve. Click and move till the end. It snaps at the end position of this curve. Then you can start creating other points. Curve will be created with the snapping method. For complete this curve creation, press Enter key, and then turn off this snapping option. For modify this curve, we choose component type button. So I click here, then select these vertices. First June little bit. And then position them. After modifying this girl select object type button again with the same mistake week period, other curves also. So first, I create this one. So I choose the weaker tool again. And then click here. By pressing Shift key, I create a straight line and then press Enter key. And then next step is modifying this girl. So I select this component type button, then modify this little bit. You can see in this area is sharp turn shouldn't be there. So I move these control points like this. Little bit SAR, turn will be created there. You can see in this area, modification is complete. Now I select object type button. Again. In the next class we create other curves. 4. Start Creating Surfaces: In the last class, we create these three curves. If you want to turn off this reference image, plus select this. And we will do related options available here. Click and hold when this icon up here, and then move in the left side. So it will turn off. Then you can select all the curves knowing create next curve. So I click outside. First day enable the reference image to click on the reference image plane and then click and drag in the right side. So it will turn on. Now I maximize this area by pressing Alt and scroll wheel. Then I create this curve with the help of CVI curb tools. So I choose Create curve, CV curve tool. I start creating from this point to create a smooth curvature, create multiple points nearby. Now if I press Enter key, so secretion will complete. Then I click on the object, select menu, know a little bit and fix the curvature related problem. Choose Move tool, then move little bit upside. I think curvature is already very much a smooth. Then click on the object type button. Now I zoom out a little bit after creating these curve, it's time to apply is surface tool for creating 3D model with the help of these curve. First, I select this oil tanker with a window selection. But you can see the pivot position is not correct. For changing the pivot position, you can use the keyboard shortcut or insert key. When you press D or insert key is around this move. Now you can change the pivot position with the arrow handles. I move in the downside. And then June this area. If you want to snap this pivot on the curve, press C for color Snipping. Then click and hold on the circle area, and then hold your mouse. Now release your mouse and then click and drag again. Now you can see it's not moving in the right side. It's mean it snapped to curve. Fibers. Snapping with curve is little bit tricky. If you're not able to snap to curve, no problem. You can apply surface without snapping. Also. Now I press D keys, so pi what icon will change? Same as you have to select other curve and then place byword for lesion in the center. So press B again and move in the downside. Same as I select this. And then place here, I snap this pirate. So I press C, C for girls snapping and then click on hold on the center, then move. When you release your mouse, then move again, so it will snap like this. Then release your mouse and then press Tiki. So by what turned into a normal icon. Now you can apply surface tool on these curves. So first I select this, then go to surface, revolve, and then click on the Settings button. First you have to reset all these settings. So click on the Edit menu and research settings. For creating a smooth surface, you have to increase the segment number. You can choose. 26, 32. More segment means more smoothness. 26 also a very decent value. So I choose 26, then click on the Apply button, then click on the Close. A surface will be created. Now I press space bar to change the viewport layout and then maximize this perspective viewport, you can see a smooth surface is created same as I apply surveys on these curves. I switch to side view port, again. Go to surface menu again, then click on the reward. You can click here also because settings are already changed. Now I select this one and then F Play Services again. So his question is complete for these three curves. For changing those shading related option, click on the shooting menu and then click on the wireframe on shaded keyboard shortcut is Alt five. Now you can see the segment on the surface. If you want to see this surface in wireframe, press for numeric key. So shooting with change into wireframe. And by pressing five numeric shaded view will be applied on the surface. In the next class, we create other curve and apply revolve surveys tool for converting a into a 3D model. 5. Fix Problems & Use Duplicate Special: In the previous class, we learned how to create these curve and then modify them. After modifying a curve, how to apply is surface. This type 3D model will be created when you apply surface on the curve. But one thing that you have to change after creating these curve, that is naming convention. By default, naming convention looked like this. You can see in this image, renaming for this curve ends. This is very simple. Just double-click on the default name. Now you can rename this off to rename. Click outside. With this method, you can change default naming convention. You can take a screenshot for these naming convention, like base curve for this oil tank. Second is burner or this burner area. Third, grill curve for this grill. Same as V support for this side. Same as I renamed this as glass curve retainer. And don't curve for this chimney area. These are to handle curve for handling purpose. You can also rename with the same naming convention after creating or renaming these curve. One thing that you have to check every time, that is, vertex is properly placed or not on the center grid line. If they're not properly placed. You can see in this area a tiny little hole is created because this vertex is not properly placed on the center grid. If you want to fix this problem, you have to delete this face. I select this first, I copy this name so I can easily copy paste this naming convention on the newly created surface. Then click outside. I select this, and then delete. Now I select this vertex. First place, I like this curvature. Then click on the component type button and then select this vertex. Then click on the CVs. When you click here, some values are placed here. First, I move this in the left or right. By using Move tool. You can see values are changing, just type zero and then hit Enter key. Now it's placed on the center grid. Now I switch to component type pattern. Sometimes this type problem will happen. You can easily fix this by pressing Control J. Now you can check it properly placed on the center axis. Now, if you click on the component type button, you can see there is no problem. You can easily apply surface on this curve. Click on the Settings button, make sure 26 segment is selected here. Then click on the Apply. Now you can check there is no hole. Same as you can fix this type problem for this base current, there is no problem. But in case if there is a problem, you can easily fix with this method. Now I switch to side viewport again. Now we learned how to complete this handle. I only create outside, but by using duplicate command, we can complete this. So first we learn how you can create a duplicate and then a test them by pressing Save and then click and drag by using Move tool, you can create a copy on the viewport. First, I change the pivot position by pressing D and then click and drag. I think it's not moving. In case d is not working, you can press Insert key. Then click and drag. It will easily move. And press Insert key again. If you want to check vertex position, click on the component type pattern. And then June this area. Click on the CVs and type. Switch to component type. Now I press Control jet key to fix this problem by pressing Control J and it will come on the proper position. Now you can select this. Check CVs. It's on the zero position. In case if we want to move this little bit upside, you can move. Now, go to component type button. Now I create a duplicate copy in the x-direction. So I go to Edit menu, then click on the duplicate is basal setting button. First, I reset all the settings and then type negative value in the scale parameter minus one. Then click on the Apply. Now you can see it duplicate copy in the flip direction is created with this command. Next, type is very important. We have to reverse the direction for this newly created curve with a duplicate. Basal command. So I go to menu and then click on the reverse direction. Nothing happened on the screen, but it's very important. After applying reverse direction. Now you can attach them because they are separate. So select both car with the windows selection, then go to attach. Both curves are attached. Now, if you create a window selection here you can see total three objects are selected. It's mean when you apply, attach, a duplicate copy of the curve will be created. You can select them separately, but before moving them, you have to follow one more step. That is delete history. You have to delete history every time in Maya if you apply a tool and then you want to move that object. So go to Edit menu and then click on the delete all by type, then click on the history. So history will be deleted. Now you can select this curve and then delete by pressing Delete key. So I select this curve one-by-one and then delete. Now you can rename this and we have to rename this surface also. So I select this and then base retainers surface, then hit Enter key. Same as you can. Rename this by double-click here. Handle underscore curve. You have to rename these curves or services without any space. So I use underscore with the same method. You can also create a duplicate copy for this curve by pressing Shift key I created a duplicate copy here. Then change the pivot position in the center by pressing D key. Then click and drag. I think there's some problem by pressing Tiki, by whatnot moving. So we press Insert key, then press Insert key again. Click on the component type button. We have to place these vertexes in the zero position. So I select this. Click on the CVs. Make sure first check the x's by moving these handles. And then type G, press Enter key, then select second vertex, then type zero, and press Enter key. Now we have to check by clicking on the component type button. There is a same problem, so I press Control chaired problem is fixed now. Now we have to create a duplicate copy. So I go to Edit menu. Duplicate is PESTLE. Click on the Settings button, value is already placed minus one in the scale. Apply and then close it. Duplicate copy is created. Next step is reversed direction. That is very important. So I go to curves, reverse direction, then click outside, select both, and apply, attach. Attach. A duplicate copy is created for this handle curve. So if you create a window selection, you can see you have to delete these two curves, then press Delete key. Now you can rename this. So I double-click handled 01 or two. You can type then press underscore curves. I hope now you learn how to fix a small, small problem in Maya and also create duplicate with the health or duplicate and a test command. In the next videoclip, we apply circle profile on these curves. 6. Glass & Down Modeling: In this class, we create a curve for this class and this chimney area. So first I start from this class, now I june this area so I can see the curvature start or end point. I think I have to turn off visibility for this tree. So I select this and type of individuality area. Now you can see the start point. Now I choose civic or tool from the Create menu. Click here, and then click, create two points in this area. So a Sharpton will be created. Then press Enter key. Now I modify this curve. So I click on this component type button and then select Move tool a little bit this area, so I can see this curve. I think it's already very sharp. Just move a little bit outside, so a decent curve will be created. Arthur, modify this curve. I click on the object type button. If you want to change the pivot position, press D key again, and then click and drag, please this in the bottom side. Or you can also place in the center, press B again, and then I create this area. So I choose C because again, I start from this point. I think I have to press Control J. I create multiple points, so a smooth curve will be created. Then press Enter key. Now I modify this curve a little bit, so I click on the component type button and change the position for these points. Now I switch to object type button again and then apply reward on these curves. So I go to, I think we have to apply modelling here. So you can access surface menu and then click on the reward. Same as I select this curve and apply revolve again. Now I turn on the visibility for this curve. So I select this object and then type on. Now I switch to prospective report. And you can see in this model, same as I create a curve for this part also. So I switched to side viewport again. In case if you want to turn off this, you can change. Then select CV curve tool and create a curve. I start creating this curve from this point. Then click here. If you want to create a sharp turn here, press V key V for vertex snapping. I click on this point. Now two points are created on the same position. Then click on the next point. Now you can see a sharp turn. Today. We have to create a second point on the same location. So I press V and then click again here. Now you can see a sharp turn is created. Same as I. Click again on this point by pressing V. So two-point will be created, a sharp turn will be created that position. So it's very important trick in case if you want to create a sharp turn, use v for vertex snapping. Then hit Enter key and make some modification. So it will look better. I choose Move tool. Now I switch to object type and auto change the pivot position with the D keys. So I press D and then click. Think, press Control J, it pres peaky again, then click and drag and place here in the center. Plus dk again, and then go to surface menu and apply reward. Now I select this curve and type on top, turn on visibility. If you want to see in the perspective viewport you can see chimney and glass object will be created with the same method. Now I create this hanging pin and other curve. Also. This time I only create heart-shaped. So I create some point and leave this at this point in the center of this green. Now I switch to object type selection and then select this tool. I think tool is not correctly selected. Then select this vertex and move little bit upside. So a smooth curve will be created. They move little bit upside. Okay? Now I switch to object mode again. With the help of Duplicate command, we create a, another copy of this and then attach them in the next class, same as I create other curve also. So I chose three vehicle tool again and start drawing this area. I end this curve at this point, then press Enter key. Now, I modify a little bit. Now co-creation is complete for these three remaining parts. In the next class, we learned how to create a duplicate copy and then attach them. And we have to apply a circle profile on these curves. So a bar will be created. For this curve. We create a custom region so we can achieve this type look. You can see in the reference image. And we also create a support for this area. You can see this curve. We have to create this curve also. 7. Glass Suppor Modeling: Now I create a glass of Port wire in this area, you can see in the reference image it should be 45-degree. So first we create a circle, then press W key, and then placed at this position, you have to select the circle from the top view port side viewport, and also the perspective imports. So you can properly please this I move this a little bit outside. I have to check. Yes, is in this direction. And then I scale down from the left or right by using a scale tool. And then rotate this around 45 degree. By using Rotate tool. It should be placed like this. First I have to scale up. So choose Scale Tool and then increase the skin. Then move little bit downside. And also placed in the center. Then I switch to other report and then rotate this. And then check in the side view port also, and also check in the other side view port. Now, I scaled down little bit. Now you can see this in the perspective of war. It's perfectly placed. We have to create a cut at this area. Okay, so right-click and then choose a point, and then create a point here, same as press Shift key. And then create a second point in the other side. For create a cut at this position, we have to use detached tool, this tool available in the current menu. Click on the detach. Now you can deselect this and then select again with the window selection, you can see this circle cut into two parts. So you can delete this. The second problem is this. This grid size is very small, so we have to increase the grid size. Firstly select this and also copy this name. And then delete this surface. Now I select this curve and increase the size a little bit. So click on the component type button and then select all the vertices. Press for numeric keys so you can see the vertices increase a little bit this part also. And then remaining. Now it will fix in this area. No, I have play revolve tool again. So go to surfaced menu and then apply. Now you can delete history. First. Properly placed this. I think it's perfectly placed now. Knowing create a set of goals so we can have play is circled profile here. Now I select this Rs by pressing Shift key and then apply X2. So you can see, I think we have to select this surface and then reverse the direction. Now I select these vertices. And from the side view port, I move a little bit inside. Same as you can select these points also. I think it's perfectly placed. Now. Move little bit outside so it will not touch To the class. Now I create a, another copy so you can easily create with the safety. First I move down this pivot positions, so press Insert or D key and then move into downside. Then create a duplicate copy with the safety, and then rotate. First you have to delete history and then select only this surface and rotate. Now you can see after deleting history, that curve is not moving with the surface. We have to move a little bit inside. Okay, now its place and the perfect position. Now you can delete this. Circle, also. Select this, and then delete. If you want to see this model without wireframe, go to shading menu and then uncheck wireframe on shared keyboard shortcut is called file. Modelling is complete. Now in the next class we applied texture so it looks realistic. 8. Oil Tank Cap & Handle Modeling: Now I apply circle profile for these handles. So first I create a circle by using circle tool before click on this tool, first you have to check interactive creation mode is selected or not. You can check in the Create menu, then click on the null primitives and make sure that this checkbox is selected. Then click on the circle, and then click and drag, create a circle. Now, June little bit. In case if you want to scale down, you can use this scale tool. Then click and drag down little bit. Now I switch to Move tool and then select this circle. And by pressing Shift key, I select this handle. Now I zoom out a little bit. Then click on the surface menu. X2 setting button. First, reset all the settings and you have to make some changes in the radial position. Click on the Add path radio button. By word, component orientation, it shouldn't be on that profile normal. Then click on the circle profile perfectly applied on this curve. Same as I select this circle. Then press the Shift key and then select this handle. Then go to surveys menu again. And this time I click on the x2 because we already applied as settings in case if we want to scale down the thickness for this press Control J and then scaled down this circle. Then apply Extrude again. Now you can delete these curves and then place these surfaces. So first you have to change the pivot position, go to modify center pivot, same as I select this and change the pivot position. Now I select only this face and then click and drag. I think we have to move down a little bit. Same as I select this by clicking matter, if you click and drag, you can see two objects are selected. So we have to select only surface. Then click and drag. Now I create a fuel tank cap. So first I create a circle with the help of top viewport. I think the size should be similar to this area. Then I switch to side viewport again. Move this in the right side, and then create a duplicate copy with the Shift key. And then select both. Now I want to create a survey is between these two circles. So I go to surfaced menu and then apply law. Surface is created but you have to reverse the direction. So select this surface and then go to surface menu and then click on the reverse direction. I think we have to change the pivot. Also. Click on the Modify and then click on the center pivot. Now I place this phase at this position. So I move from the side view port and then switch to top view port and then placed here. You can see this in the perspective report. Also. I think we have to move a little bit outside. But you can also scale down in case it created little bit big. After placing this, we have to create a gap also. So first we have to create a profile by using CV curve tool. So I choose CV curve tool and then create a profile. Then hit Enter key. Now we have to modify it a little bit. So I clicked on the component type button and then change the vertex position. So you have to create this type here on the component type button and also changed by what position. So first I placed in the center, then press D key, and then move in the center. Now I apply revolve tool and then go to surveys menu, and then click on the revolt setting button. This time I choose 16 segment, then click on the reward. We have to apply reverse direction also, and also change the pivot position. So go to modify and then click on the center pilot. Now I place this from the top view port. Click and drag. I think Cij is little bit bigger, so it's scaled down. First. One more thing we have to apply a little bit design here. You can also create a design with the scale tool for creating a design. First, you have to select this component type and then select this vertex. Any alternate is pacing. So press Shift key and then click and drag. Like this. You can also select these vertices with the Lasso selection. Then switch to the scale tool, and then click and drag inside. So this type of shape will be created. Now it looks very nice. Click on the component type and then place. So I switched to Move tool and then place from the top view port first. You can also enable wireframe mode by pressing F4. And then switch to side viewport, place little bit down, and then switch to toe viewport again so we can see the center. Now you can see this in the perspective view port also. It looked very nice. If you face any problem in the rotation. Press F, F for focus key, and now you can easily rotate this. In the next class we create sites support. 9. V Support Modeling: Now I create this vertical support. So first we have to create a profile design for creating this support. I create this by using circle tool. So first I create a circle and then create a duplicate copy of this circled by using Move tool. So press W, then press Shift key, and then click and drag and create a circle. Now I scaled down, so I choose a scale tool by pressing R key. I think we have to scale in this direction. And then place here. Then created another copy by pressing Shift and create another copy and then rotate. You can rotate by using the rotate tool that's available here. Or you can also type the rotation angle first you have to check the rotation angle. Rotation angle is jet. So I type 90 and then place in this direction and then create another copy. After placing. These are called in this way, you have to apply a couple of tools, like Cut tool for creating a cut. Then you have to delete these segment and then we have to attach them. So first we apply Cut tool. So click curves and then apply. Now click outside and then select the shape one-by-one. Press Delete key. And then you have to select these segments. Also. Select and then delete. After deleting these segments, select the remaining segment, and then a test them. So click on the curves, are attached and then click on the Settings button. First, click on the edit and research settings. Now you have to change some parameter, like attached method. It should be Connect and then click on the Attach button. When you apply cut or attached tool, duplicate copy will be created every time. So if you click and drag, you can see so many copies are created. If you click here, you can see different, different parts are selected. So first select this and move in the right side, and then delete all other parts. First you have to delete the history. So click on the Edit, then go to delete. All type is three, and then delete by pressing Delete key. Support profile is created with this method. Now you can scale down by pressing Our key and then apply. So click on the surface x2, you can change the settings also. So first reset, then click on the Add path radio button, component, radio button and profile normal, then click on the x2 and then select and reverse direction. Now you can see it looks better.
