2. 02 Getting Started with Google Bard: Hey there. Welcome
to this class. Let us begin talking
about Google Bard. Here I am on my browser, and I have Google.com loaded. Now here in the search box, I'll search for Google Bard. And you will be shown
different results. You will have to take a look at the first
result Over here, here you can see Bar.google.com is the website that you got. If you click on this,
you will be taken to the official website
of Google Bard. Now, Google Bard is a language learning
model and it's like a chat bot that is
developed by Google. It is based on AI
model underneath it, and it's a powerful
tool that can be used for a variety
of different purposes. Google Bard can answer questions in a comprehensive
and informative way. If you ask any questions, it is going to give you
relevant responses. It can be used to generate different creative
texts like poems, codes, scripts, E
mails, or even letters. It can help you do all of that. One thing to notice over here is at the top left
you're seeing part. And it says experiment
Bard is still learning. It's still an experiment by Google and it is
constantly being updated every now and then with the new information
and abilities. But it's a really
powerful tool and can change the way we
interact with computers. Now part can be used in
different use cases. For example, if you're a writer, you can use part to brainstorm
ideas for your story. For example, you can generate
a list of characters, script plots,
settings, and so on. If you are a software engineer, you can ask bard to write code
for your new application. If you already have
some source code, you can give that as an input to Google part and it can
explain it to you. You can also use Bard
as a translator. If you want to translate any sentence to
another language, you can do that with part. There are different use
cases and you can read more. There is not much
on the website. It's a simple website. Okay. It just says Meet bard. It is a creative and
helpful collaborator. What we're going to
do is we're going to directly sign in over here. We don't have a sign
up button here, you'll see sign in
to sign in to Bard, you're going to need
a Google account. This service is built by Google and hence you will need a Google
account to work with it. Enter your Google
account credentials and press next to enter the
password on the next screen, and then you are
ready to get started. I just entered my credentials and I was redirected
back to the home page. You can see the messager
part was just updated. If you wish to see the update, you can click on this link. It'll show you what's new
with part. All right. To start using pard, I'll say try part. You will be asked for accepting some terms and conditions
which you can say I agree. And once you have agreed, you will be shown
the Bard dashboard. Now you can see over here, this is a sort of
disclaimer that I think so it says Bard will not always get it right and Bard will get better
with your feedback. Okay, We have to
just say continue. So this is like a disclaimer
that we're agreeing to and if you wish to opt in
to the e mail updates, you can say opt in over here. Okay. But I will just
say continue over here. And you will be landing
on this particular page, which has a chat
option over here. Or send a message
like Enter a prompt. It says here, you can send
in messages to Google Bard. This is Google Bard and how
you can get started with it. Like I said, Google Bard can be used in a lot of
different contexts. Like, you can use
it as a writer, you can use it as a
software engineer, you can use it as
a translator to translate anything to
different languages out there. If you're a teacher,
you can even use Google Bard to brainstorm as a teacher as well
as as a student. If you're looking
to learn something, you can ask Google Bar to hey, teach me about this
particular topic and so on. It's a really interactive
chatbot here, you will see this
disclaimer here. Human reviewers may
process your part. Conversations don't
enter sensitive info. What this means is, since
it's still learning, there will be some
reviewers that may review the information or the messages that you're sending
to Google part. If you want to learn
more about this, you can absolutely click on the Learn More pattern
read over here. This is the page that
is going to load in. Here you will see
an explanation as to why human review of my part, conversations, feedback, and the related
data is required. Okay? Google has an
explanation as to how it is doing this review and
why it is doing this review. Okay. So you can read
more about this. Okay. It also says that there are a number
of precautions that are taken to protect the privacy of their users, which
is fair enough. But the disclaimer that
they have given is we should not enter any
sensitive information. Okay, this is about Bard, and you will have
some points over here like some example
messages to get started. This is Google Bard, and how can you get
started with it?
3. 03 Bards interface: Hey there. Welcome back. Let us take a short tour
of the Bards interface. Here you have the
main chat screen. You have an
introduction from Bard. It says, hey, hi Bard, your creative helpful
collaborator. It also mentions a limitation. It says, I have limitations and won't always get it right, but your feedback will
help me to improve. Okay, it has some
simple messages with which you can get started. If you click on any of them, that message will be posted. And this is a message it says, give me a table to track the depth of a community
basketball team. Interesting. You can see here, here is the response from part. And you can see this is a table. You can export this
two Google sheets. Since it's a Google product, it has really strong
integration with other Google products like
sheet docs and so on. Here, I can export Google
sheets straight away. If you scroll down here, you will see some
feedback patterns here. This says good response. This says bad response. Here you have an option
to modify the response. If you click on this, it will
show you different options like whether you want to modify this response to
go a bit shorter, longer, simpler, more casual
or more professional. Then you have the
share option here. Okay. You can share
this export to docs or you can get a
draft of this in mail. Like I said, like strong integration with
other Google products. This is an example here. This will simply export it to
Google Docs and like mail. And this button
allows you to search. So if you click on this, okay, here it is, showing you
different search options. And if you click on any of them, it will search that
particular keyboard, okay? So this is how you can use this, and if you click
on this, it will disable the search options. Clicking on this will give you related search topics, okay? And then you have these
three dots over here, okay? So you can copy a response to your keyboard and you can also report a legal issue with
this response if you have. So these are the different
options that you get in chat here. You have a button to listen. If you press listen,
it is going to convert this and it is going to read this
response for you. Okay, you have an option to
view other drafts as well. Here you can edit this
input that you gave. I can add a question mark
and I can say update. It is going to regenerate
the entire response. If you feel that the
output was not good, the input, I need
to tweak the input. That way, you can do
this and it will update the response based on the
updates that you have given. This is one way of generating a new response by clicking
on the added button. Or you can also copy this and
paste it as in new input. Here you can say Enter. That
is something you can do. This is about the chat part. Now here you have
this message box. It says Enter a prompt here and you have
plus part in here. You can upload a file here. You can use a microphone if
you want to write a message. I can allow the
microphone option here. The moment you
click on this icon, it will ask you for
the permission. If I say allow, you can see typing in
whatever I'm saying. To disable it, I just need
to click the spattern. Okay. If you want to
type in something longer and if you just
want to speak that thing, you can use a
microphone here. Okay? Whatever chats you
create over here, you will see on the
left hand side bar. Okay, Here you can see
this is a side bar. And here you are seeing
this chat created. Now I can click on the three dots and I can rename
this to whatever I need. I can say first chat over here. Okay? And I can even
create a new chat, and you will see a new chat
page being created here. Okay? Or I can just
revert to the older one. You can do that. You can pin this chat
to stay on top always, and you can even delete
this. All right. You can even optionally
hide this side bar by clicking on this button here. It is completely possible. Okay, This is about
the chat interface. Along with the sidebar here, you will have an option to
see your bard activity. If you click on this,
you're going to be taken to a separate page
which will show you all the activity that
you have done with Bar. For example, I have
written two prompts here, which is something
that I see here. You have auto delete
enabled here. It will delete the activity
that is older than 18 months. Okay. And here you can see an option to delete
the activity as well. This is the My
Activity tab for Bard. You have some settings
here and there, Okay? You can switch to a dark
theme if you wish to. If you're working at
night and you wish to have a dark theme, you can switch there
or you can even use a light theme
like. All right. This is how the interface
of Google Bard is set up. They keep on making small, small changes to the interface since it's relatively new and it's an experiment yet you might see a few
changes here and there. Every now and then, whenever
you use Google Pard. That's about the interface of Google Bard and how you
can get familiar with it.
4. 04 What are Prompts and How do Prompts work with Google Bard: Hey there. Let's start talking
about what are prompts and how do prompts work
with Bard? What are pros? Prompts are essentially the
input that you as a user provide to get the corresponding
output from Google Bard. Now you can think of prompts as instructions
that you are giving. You're telling Google Bard
what you want it to do. Now they can be as simple
as write me a poem or translate this sentence into
French or something similar. Or they can even be more complex and could include
specific instructions. Now since we're
talking about prompts, we need to know few things
about prompt as well. One thing is memory. What is memory? Google Bard
has a short term memory that allows it to store the information from
the previous prompts. This helps Google Bard to generate responses that
are contextually relevant. It's like you are having a
conversation with a person because that person
will remember what you just said
2 minutes back. The responses that
person is going to give you will be
contextually relevant, and that is how Google
Bard also works. Now the memory function enables Bard also to remember
important details from the previous prompts
and it generates the responses that take
into account that context. This is about being contextually relevant in
terms of Google part. Now another point
is prompt phrasing. The way the prompt is phrase can also affect the response
that is being generated. For example, what is the
best way to write a e mail? If you take a look
at another prompt, write a follow up e
mail to client that is persuasive and highlights key
benefits of the engagement. These are two different prompts, and they both will yield different results because they have been phrased differently. This is about prompt phrasing. Now let us head over to Google part and let us
try this in action. So here I am on the
Google Bard interface. Okay, now let's try
some prompts over here. So let's say I use a simple prompt and let's say I'm planning
a birthday party. I'll tell Google, Bart, hey, Google part plan a party. The response that I get over
here will be to generic. Because the prompt
itself is generic, It just says a
party and it is not giving any details about the party or any
relevant information. Also, it's not specifying
what kind of party is. Party can be of different kinds. Like it can be a
anniversary party, birthday party, and so on. You can see the
response also here. It says, I can help
you plan a party, but here are some of the important steps that
you can follow. And it is just giving
you the list of steps. Okay? We can even
try one more prompt, So I can say plan
a birthday party. And you'll see the response
that it generates here. It's taking some time
to generate this one. But you can see over here, the response is
slightly different. It says, I can set a
birthday party for you, or I can plan a
birthday party for you, and here are some ideas
it is asking for. It's talking about
the theme here, okay? Then it talks about
the location, food and drinks, decorations, entertainment and so on. Okay, and here are some
tips that it's giving you. Now, let me add some
more context over here. So let's say I say plan a
child's birthday party. Okay, so this is also
a little bit generic. It's more specific than the previous prompts
that we have had, but still generic because we have not specified
the child's age, how many guests we want, or what are the themes
that we desire, and so on. Okay, so this is still
going to be a little bit generic and you'll see
the response over here. It is similar to
the previous one. Okay, so you can
go through this. It's still similar to
the previous one because we have not added a
lot of information. But here it has given
a specific example of the child's birthday party
that Bard Wood plan. Okay, now I can give
one more prompt like plan a birthday party
for ten year old boy. So here we are now
giving two details. Like two specific details
like the age and the gender. So it's a boy, okay? And the location, it talks about location,
food and drinks. So it's still quite
similar to the older one. Okay, let me give
one more prompt. So I'll say plan a superhero
themed birthday party. Ten year old boy. Okay, let's see what
this one generates. I'm expecting part to be slightly different
over here because I have specified few details here like superhero
themed and so on. The theme would be superheroes. Okay. Let us given some options and examples
for entertainment here. Okay, Let us give some
games and activities. Okay? Gifts. Okay? You can use this or
you can build on this. This can be a really
good starting point if you are actually looking
to plan a birthday party. But it would be really
good if you could add more details here. I have added a detail. I want this P party in a backyard setting
for around let's say 20 guests and it will give me some response basis that Okay. I've not added
quite a few details like what sort of food I
wish to have and so on. But you can see it
has given an example of a pod party decoration, which is of superhero theme. Okay, this is the image
location, backyard. If it's hot outside, you can set up a tent or a canopy to provide
shade. Makes sense. Okay? Now the food
would be pizza, hot dogs cake, and ice
cream makes sense. Okay. You can see it is asking you to pin
a cape on superhero. And this is a variation. Okay? This is a game that it's suggesting,
game and activity. You can see a few games and activities that
it has suggested. Okay, now if I give
one more prompt, like I'll make it a
bit more detailed. I'm saying over here,
plan is Spider Man themed Bdi party for a ten year
old boy named Alex. Let's say it will be held in spacious backyard and
expects 20 guests. Activities could include
superhero training course, pinata face painting, these are the few activities
that I wish to have. I have food menu that offers both wedge and
non witch options. And Spider Man cake for dessert. Let us see what it
has to give you. Okay, this prompt provides
a comprehensive overview. It also adds some of the Alex preferences to make it a memorable
occasion for him. Okay, you can see over here, this is an example of a
Spider Man theme party. And it has given this
link of Amazon here. Okay, You can see it's a good suggestion over here where happy birthday is also
written in Spider Man theme. Interesting cake is
also Spider Man theme. You can see these eyes here. Okay. Location, location
has not changed. It's still in the backyard. Food, and it has suggested some food options
like pizza, hot dogs, pasta salad, vegetables,
fruit salad, and so on. Decorations like everything has to be in Spider Man theme. Yeah, it has given few options. Over here, you can see
over here the pinata. This is an activity
the kids can take turns hitting a Spider Man
pinata filled with candy. Okay, Interesting
kids will enjoy this. Face painter can
paint the kids faces as Spider Man or their,
any favorite superheroes. Interesting. So you can have
a face painter there, okay, who can paint the
faces of the kids. The gifts. Okay. The cake, like
an example cake here. It has even given you the website from where
you can get this. Okay? Yeah. Here are some tips
that it has given. You can see how changing
the prompt and giving more details can result in
having better responses. Okay. And you can even
iterate over the prompt. So if you have given any
input to Google Bard, and then you realize
that I should have added this information or there is something that is
missing in the prompt. You can of course,
modify this and you can get some better results from the modified
prompt over here. Okay, so you can
see we started with the most generic prompt
like plan a party, plan a birthday party, then we added plan a
birthday party and so on. So it was quite generic
and like we have come and concluded to that
of a Spider Man theme party. You can even brainstorm
with Google Bard over here. You can ask Google
Bard that, hey, want to plan a body party
for a ten year old boy? Suggest a few theme
options or what could be different themes that I
could plan a Buda party on. This way, Google Bard can
even list the themes here. I had thought of Spider Man, I just gave that as an input. But you can even ask Google Bard for options or
suggestions there. Okay, process of modifying the prompt and
sending it again to Google Bard is known
as Prompt iteration. Here we have iterated
on our prompt to get some relevant information
for our birthday planning. All right, this is about
prompting and how it works. Okay. Also I wanted to give you a understanding of how memory function works
with Google Bard. Okay, let's say if I open
a new chat and if I say, what is the capital of France? Okay, there's a
spelling mistake. What is the capital of France? But that's fine. I believe Google Bard will
understand this. It says capital of
France is Paris. Now if I just say what
is its population, this will give the
population of Paris, you can see population of Paris. Now here I have not asked
for the population of Paris. I've just said what is
its population here? What is happening is Google bard knows that the previous prompt was getting the
capital of France and now I'm saying what
is its population? It is giving me the
response that is contextually relevant because
of the memory function. Okay, it, and it remembers that dispose the
previous prompt that I had given as an input
and I need to give results that are
contextually relevant. Okay. So this is an example
of memory function. You can try this
for any country. Okay. And even if you're
working with Google Bard, you will realize this over
a period of time that it's remembering whatever
you have told it. So this is Google Bard and
how prompting works with it.
5. 05 Iterating and getting effective results: Hey there. Let's start talking
about how can you iterate with prompts and how can you get effective results
with Google Bard. Here I have created a new chat in the
Google Bard interface, and I have hidden the sidebar here to get more visibility. Now let's say you're
working with a brand which sells eco
friendly sneakers. Let's say you have been given the task work on a
promotional campaign. You're looking to generate a catchy tagline and you
have decided that you wish to use I tool like Google Bard to get help
with the tag line. Now let us try out a few prompts that can help us get
relevant results. Let's say I start with the basic prompt and I
tell Google Bard that, hey, give me a tag line
for a new sneaker. And I press Enter. Now Google Bard will
generate a tag line, which is for a sneaker brand. And you can see these are some of the tag lines that
it has generated. So you can even give Google Bard an input which says like give me ten prompt tideas or give
me like ten tag line ideas. You can specify the count
and it will give you the number of responses or
number of results there. But here, since we have not
specified the count here, it has given around
five options here. And here it says, the sneaker that takes
you to new heights, the sneaker that's
made for your feet. It also describes this
particular tag line, and it talks about what
it focuses on and so on. You can go through this,
it is a decent response, but the result isn't catchy and it does not capture
the essence of the brand. Okay, now why
doesn't it do that? It's because we have not
given Google Bard that input. Let's say we start with
this basic prompt, we get a few results. Now let's say I add some more
context into the prompt and I say provide a tag line
for eco friendly sneakers. Okay, here I've just said give me a tag line
for a new sneaker. But here I'm specifying, give me a tag line for
eco friendly sneakers. Here I'm giving it
a bit more context. Okay, let us see what this
prompt has to generate for us. So you can see over here we
got some tag line options. So this one is really
good sustainable sneakers that let you leave your
mark on the world, okay? Because we've said
it's eco friendly. It has emphasized on the benefits to the
environment. Okay. If you read the description, that is what it specifies
over here, okay. Now you can see here, leave your footprint on the
planet and not the pavement. This is also impressive. This is because we
want a message. That's for eco friendly sneaker. Okay? And this tag line will attract people who care
about the environment. These are a few options, okay, that it has given. Okay? But this version of prompt does a better job at highlighting the
essence of the brand. Like it's eco friendly
nature and style, but still Mrs. the
factor around comfort. So let's say we have a sneaker that is also
comfortable for users. And let's say we
think that should also come out in the
tag line because tag line is actually
what people will relate to after the brand name. What I can say is I can modify the prompt and I
can say provide or draft a tagline for eco friendly sneakers that
are also comfortable. And I'll give this as an input. This will make sure that we have the comfort of the sneakers. Also, count in to
the tag line, okay, you will see feet happy Planet. This is one tag line which
captures both things, like how sneakers are comfortable and how
they're eco friendly. It says, leave your footprint on the planet and not your feet. Okay, interesting. It says sneakers that
feel good and do good the future, comfortable,
sustainable footwear. Sneakers that let you make a difference without sacrificing
the comfort make sense. This is essentially
a better response and we have like added
a few elements and we have iterated over this one prompt to get
something much more relevant. Now let's say we have a few
aspects of sneakers that we want also to come
across in the tag line. Okay, let's say we feel that this tag line is still
missing few things now. Let's say our sneakers
also emphasize on comfort style
and sustainability. Okay, along with comfort. So far we have just
added comfort. Along with comfort, we also have the other two elements or aspects like sustainability
and style, okay? Because sneakers of course, have to be stylish as well. This will also attract the
audience that values style. If I give this as an input, we will have all
these three aspects taken into consideration, okay? And you will see
sustainable sneakers that make you look
good and feel good. Sneakers that are good for the planet and good
for your feet. Interesting sneakers
that let you make a difference without
sacrificing the style. Interesting. So this
is the iteration which helps you including the three aspects of your sneakers or the product
that you have out there. Okay, now let us do
one more iteration. Let's say I also
wish to focus or emphasize on like the green
design, comfort and style. Okay, I can give
this as an input, this can give me a little
bit different output than what we had already
generated, okay? It is saying
sustainable sneakers that look good and
feel good, okay? They look much more
similar, okay? Are good for you and
good for planet. Interesting green design,
comfortable feet. Stylish looks, this is one
output that it has given. Okay? It has given only
one option over here. But you can literally work. You can modify this prompt
and tell Google Bard that, hey, I need ten different
options in this style. Or with this included, Google Bard can
help you with this. This way you can work
on the iteration. You can start with
something really basic and then you can literally brainstorm as to what are the
different elements that you need to add to get
the desired result. With the help of this tool, like iterating on
prompt is really important and it helps you get relevant and more
effective results as you modify the prompts. Okay, so this is
one of the tips, or techniques that
is being used, that is prompt iteration to get relevant results as the output.
6. 06 Controlling Tone: Hey there. Welcome
to this class. Let us start talking about how can you control the tone of the response with the help of prompts that you give as
an input to Google par. Here I am on the Google
Pard interface and I have created a new chat and
also hidden the sidebar. Now let's say I wish
to write an e mail to a vendor and I wish to get an update on the shipment delay. Now there is one
way of doing this. I can just give a straightforward
prompt like this. And I can tell bard to write a concise E mail to vendor asking for an update
on a shipment delay. This way we are generating
a simple E mail with the help of Google
Bard for a vendor. Let us take a look
at the response. You can see over
here, it has given me everything that I would
need for the e mail. You can see this is a subject. Here you have the message. It says a vendor
name, some greetings. Here I'm writing this e mail
to inquire about the status, you have to update the
order number here. Now, this is a pretty
standard E mail. And let's say if we wish to modify the tone of this message. Okay, let's say we want to get the formal tone for
this particular e mail. I can write a prompt over here, draft a formal E mail to
the vendor mentioning the specific order
number and kindly asking for a status update
on the delayed shipment. There are two things over here. One is formal keyword here, the formal keyword
we are using here. And these two things
are taken into consideration and the output you get is formal as well as kind. With the help of
these two keywords, we are modifying the tone. You can see over here, I'm writing today to inquire about, here we are being kind. Okay, here we are, opening the e mail with the purpose of the e mail we are mentioning
like this was the order, I've not received any tracking
information and so on. Here we are being a little
kind, we are saying, I understand like there have been some shipment delays
due to the pandemic. It has taken pandemic as
the reason for the delay. If you might not want, you can specify the delay reason as well in the prompt itself. Okay, since we have not
given any context over here, it has taken its own context. But you can modify this to
get your own context as well. Okay, now would you be able to provide me with an
update so you can see how it's being formal as
well as kind over here. Okay, now let me try
one more example. Okay, so let's say we have
this prompt over here. So I'm saying pen
and e mail, okay? Or you can say draft and e mail, it's like one and
the same draft. An E mail expressing
concern about delayed shipment concern is the keyword here which
will modify the tone. I'm asking it to emphasize
on a certain things, emphasizing on its importance to your operations and request
an update, which is fine. But the main thing
over here that will control the tone is
expressing concerns. This is something
that will give us an e mail citing that we are very concerned
about this. Okay? And I will give you
an e mail over here. Okay? So you can see the
response that you have got. So this way you can
control the tone by specifying the keywords
that you need to. Okay, Let me give you
one more example. So I'm saying I need an e mail
to send to a vendor, okay? And I need the e mail to convey the urgency and also
maintain the politeness. Okay, So I've added
these two things here. Okay, So I'm saying
an E mail to a vendor conveying a sense of urgency regarding the
delayed shipment. And I also want the e mail to highlight its significance to our business while maintaining a polite and understanding tone. Okay, let's see what is the output that this
prompt generates. So you can see over here
starts with the subject. Okay, It says urgent
delayed shipment. This itself puts in
some urgency over here. And the opening is
also with the urgency. I'm writing to you today
with a sense of urgency regarding the delayed shipment
for order number X, Xx. Okay? And it's saying, okay, delays must be due
to some reason. But I'm concerned about the impact this
delay will have on my business and the item that I ordered are essential for my
business And now I'm delays, I'm facing delays in my side
of production schedule. Okay. So you can see
over here like it is also highlighting its
significance to our business. And it is also like maintaining a polite
and understanding tone. Okay, so here it is saying I understand that
you're a busy company, so since we mentioned over here, maintain a polite and
understanding tone. It has like added this, I understand that you're
a busy company and I would appreciate
if you could this matter your immediate attention because it's causing
me a few hardships. Okay? So this way
you can control the urgency while
maintaining the politeness. So this is an example of
how you can balance things. Okay, let me add one more
prompt to over here. Okay, so let us say
we have this prompt. Okay? We are asking bard to write a balanced E mail
that emphasizes on urgency, politeness and solution seeking. Okay, I'm saying
draft an E mail, balanced E mail addressing
the shipment delay. It should communicate
the urgency, showcase the understanding of potential unforeseen issues, and seek a
collaborative solution. Okay, remember to mention
specific order number and the impact of delay
on your operations. Now here we are trying to
balance between three things, urgency, politeness, and we
also want a solution here. Okay, here you can
see over here, I'm confident that we can work together to
find a solution. You can see this
entire thing here. It opens the e mail. Okay? It says it's being
understanding over here. Okay, because it expresses
some concern over here. And then it talks about the urgent update on the
status of the shipment. And it is also asking
like if there is anything that we can do together
to expedite the delivery. Okay? And it says like, you are happy to provide any additional information
that you may need. Okay? And here it is also adding like a line
which signifies that you understand
that it's adding the essence of understanding
into this e mail. Okay? And then here it is, again being solution
oriented, okay? It says we can work together
to find a solution, okay? That is mutually beneficial. So this way you can balance
between multiple elements. Okay? Here we are
balancing between urgency, politeness, and
solution seeking. These are a few
examples as to how you can control the
tone of the e mail. Okay? If you want the e
mail to be a little strict, you can say draft
a strict e mail. You can use different keywords in emails or in your prompts, not e mails, and you can get the relevant response from Bart. This way to controlling works. Now let us apply this thing of controlling the tone
to writing e mails. And let's say you have a
scenario where you're working in a company and you wish to write an e mail to your boss
requesting a raise. Okay, let's say I piece
this prompt over here. Okay, This prompt says, write an e mail to your boss. Raise in a confident tone. Okay, you can see over
here, request for a raise. This is subject. And here
you are opening the e mail, Like what is the e mail about? And the accomplishments. You start talking about,
the accomplishment. And here you start
being confident. I'm confident that I'm a
valuable asset to the team and I deserve to be compensated accordingly. I've
done my research. Here you're backing your
request with some facts, okay? And it says, I've done my research and my salary
is below market reason. Okay. Here it is. Again, emphasizing
on this point. So this is a really
confident e mail, like you're sounding confident
in this e mail, okay? And you are writing
this to your boss. You can take this e mail and
you can work more on it. Okay, here you can
see the tips as well. You can include information like your specific
accomplishments and how they have contributed
to the company's success. You can research on market
salaries and you can add that. You can add your willingness to negotiate and
compromise and so on. So you can add these details. You can have one more prompt. You can say, write an
e mail to your boss requesting a raise
in a casual tone. If your boss is very
casual with you, you can possibly get an e
mail done in a casual tone. This is just an example
that I'm showing you. And the tone here, Here
you are being casual. You're saying like I
would love to have a chat and let me know what
works with your schedule. Okay, it's being casual
like you're talking about. You want to have a
chat about a salary. You've been with company
for so long and how you have contributed and made a lot of good
friends here as well. It's a pretty casual tone, okay? You can even modify this
to get a playful tone, which is not recommended to
send to your boss, okay? But for playful tone, I have a different example. Okay, What I've done is
I've said write a story about child's first day of
school in a playful tone. Because getting an E mail in
a playful tone is not good. That too, especially
for your boss. I'm just trying to have a
different example over here. I'm saying write a story about a child's first day of
school in a playful tone. You can see over here, this is the story in a playful tone. This is how you can control the tone of Google
bard in the responses.
7. 07 Bard in Different Roles: Hey there. Welcome
to this class. Let's start talking
about how you can get barred to take
up different roles. Taking up different roles can impact the quality of
responses that you get. Okay, so let me give you some examples as to how
this impacts the output. Let's say you want to write an email about meeting delays. You can ask bard to be
a strict manager or act like a strict manager and write an E mail about
meeting delays. Okay? You can do this with
the help of act as a phrase. Okay, Let me give
you an example. I can give this particular
prompt to Google pard. You can say act as a strict manager and write an e mail about
meeting delays. If you give this as an input, you're going to get the
corresponding output which will be written from
a strict manager. Okay, You can see over here, meeting delays is the subject. It starts with the concern here, and it says this is
unacceptable and it's causing a great deal
of inconvenience for everyone involved. Meetings are scheduled
for a reason and it talks about why
meetings are scheduled. And it also sends a message to our team that our
time is not valuable. So you are literally being
a bit strict away here. Okay. Since you're asking
Bard to be a strict manager, it has given you the e mail in this particular format here
it ends like by saying, I'm asking everyone to be more mindful of meeting
times in future. If you cannot make a meeting, please let me know as soon as possible so that we
can make arrangements. We need to work together to ensure that our meetings are
productive and efficient. Okay, so this is because
of act as a phrase. Okay? So here it has
taken up the role of a strict manager and it has
given you this response. Let us try one more example. We say act as a
concerned team lead and write an e mail about
meeting delays, okay? And it is going to give you a response as a concerned
team lead, okay? And this will be reflected
in the tone of the e mail. So you can see over
here, you are concerned. You are saying, I'm writing
today to express my concern about the recent trend
of meeting delays, okay? This is starting to be a problem and it's something that
we need to address. You're really concerned
over here, okay? I know that sometimes things
come up that can't be help, but I'm concerned that this
is becoming a habit, okay? You are not literally being
that strict over here, but you are actually
concerned that this is impacting everything and
how can we fix this? That is the thing. And you are also emphasizing on the importance of
the meeting over here. In between, you're saying, I also want to remind everyone that meetings
are important. Okay, This is one example as to how act as a concerned
team lead helps. Let me write one
more example here. You're acting as someone
completely different. You're acting as a
motivational coach, and you're asking it to write an e mail about
meeting delays. I'm expecting this to be a
little bit different here. Okay, because I've said
motivational coach, let's see what it
has to generate. You can see over here
the subject itself. Meeting delays a missed
opportunity, okay? This e mail sounds a
little bit positive here. Okay. I'm writing
to you today as a motivational coach and
not as your manager. I want to talk to you about
something that has been on my mind lately,
meeting delays, Okay. That is not okay. I know that sometimes things come up that
can't be helped, but I'm also aware
that I've been seeing a lot of meetings
that are delayed and canceled and that is
not okay Now here it is, emphasizing on how meetings
can be an opportunity, okay? It's motivating
now to tell you in the next para that how can
we as a team do better? We are talented, we are
not less than anyone else, and how we can fix this
essentially, okay? And you can see in the end it ends really positively, okay? So I believe in us, I know that we can overcome this challenge and
so on, it goes on. So it is sounding a bit
more motivating, okay? Because you are now a
motivational coach over here and you are writing an e mail to your team
as a motivational coach. And you're also emphasizing
on the problem here, you're bringing up
the problem as well as motivating them
to fix the problem. This is about the example of e mail about
meeting delays, okay? And you can see like, how we were able to get
different kinds of e mail depending on who you
are asking Google Bard to be. Okay? Google Bard can take different rules using
the act as a phrase. Okay? And it can help you
with relevant responses. Now let us do an
example wherein you wish to write an
e mail to a team. Okay? About missing deadlines. Okay. Now let us see what bard
has to generate over here. So let's say I have
this prompt here, like act as a strict manager
and I'm asking Bar to write an E mail inquiring
about missed deadlines. Okay, here this will be
a little bit strict. Like a tone should be strict because I'm a strict
manager here. And you can see over here it
sounds a little bit strict. It also ends really strict. I'll not tolerate habitual
lateness or missed deadlines. Oh my God, that's a bit stern. But it has to be
because like you have asked Bar to be a
strict manager now, you can even use concerned
team lead and get a similar e mail and this time the freezing of the e mail
will be a bit concerned, okay? And you can see
over here, this is like in a different
way altogether, because a concerned team
lead is writing this e mail, okay? This is one example. Then you can even write the same thing as a
motivational coach. And this will be about
motivating the team and also bringing in this question
about missed deadlines. You can see over here
it talks about belief. Over here it reminds the
opportunity and so on. This way you can
ask Google bard to take shoes of different
people or different roles. And this can really impact the quality of the response
that you're getting. This is one tip that I wish
to share with you all.
8. 08 Exercise Write Effective Email: Hey there. Welcome
to this class. Let us do a short exercise wherein we will learn how to
write an effective e mail. What we're going to do is we will have a scenario
in front of us. For that scenario,
we will work with Google Bard to generate
a nice e mail. This will give us
a few takeaways as to how you can work
with Google Bard. Real scenario, and how
you can modify and get the right prompt for Google Bard to get
the best response. And also we will have a gist of different abilities
of Google Bard. Let us say we have a scenario
wherein you wish to write an e mail for an event to
environmental experts. This e mail is
around environment. It's a big event and
you wish to write an invite e mail for these
attendees or these speakers. Okay, let's say we
have this prompt here. This prompt won't give
us a good response. We are just saying write
an invitation e mail. And this is too general. We have no specifics
over here like who is the invitation for or what
is the context, and so on. And as you can see, it has
given a random response, like invitation to a
annual company party. And this is because we have
not added any context. Okay, so let us add
some context over here. And I'll add another prompt. So I'll say act as a conference organizer and write an e mail for a event speaker. And let me press
Enter over here, it will give me some
response over here. Okay, we have set the
persona over here. We have set the persona
as conference organizer. Okay, we are asking Google Bat to act as a
conference organizer. Now as a conference organizer, it has given us this e mail.
You can see the e mail. It opens up with
a creating, okay. The subject is also nice,
It's pretty formal. It introduces first and then it talks about
the conference. And it then goes into the talk like what are the arrangements
that are to be needed? So we will be happy
to provide you with travel Typ end and so on. And it closes the e mail, so it's a pretty good e mail. Okay. With just minimal information
that we have provided. If you see the prompt, we have not added a lot of information. Okay. We have just said like as a conference
organizer and write a invite e mail or
invitation email for the event speakers. Okay. Now let's say I wish this e mail to be a
bit more full of energy. I want bar to be a little bit more enthusiastic
in writing the e mail. I also wish to focus on the
expertise of event speakers. Okay, here literally it
sounds pretty generic. Okay, the e mail sounds generic. What I will do is I'll
modify the prompt and I'll say act as a enthusiastic
event coordinator. Write an E mail for event speaker emphasizing
their expertise. This will give a different
e mail altogether. It should ideally,
because we have set the tone as enthusiastic, we're asking it to act as
enthusiastic event coordinator. Okay, you can see over here like it starts
with the subject. The subject is good, exciting invitation to speak
at the conference. If you don't want
these placeholders, you can directly give the event name as
well in the input. But since I've not given that, it has given me the
placeholder over here. Okay. And you can
see we would be honored to have you speak
at the upcoming conference. Now, what is the
conference about? Sure. In this para it has added a line about the work or
the expertise over here. Okay. This is a
pretty good e mail, pretty decent with the amount of information that
we have added. Okay, now let us say I wish to also reference the notable
work of the speakers. Okay, I can modify the prompt. I can say act as a respectful
conference host and draft an e mail inviting
the speaker to event referencing
their notable work. This is slightly different, wherein I have tweaked the
previous response and I've asked for some emphasis on
the notable work as well. Okay, so you can see the
response that it has generated. If you scroll down here, here it is, talking
about the work, I'm particularly
impressed about. Search on this particular
topic and so on. Yeah, this seems pretty good, a little bit different
from what we had earlier. Okay, now let me write one more. I'll say act as an
appreciative event planner. Okay, I wish to highlight their expertise of the speakers mentioning the notable work. And also add a personal touch from the previous interaction. Okay, I'm trying to
personalize this e mail. Okay, And I'm going towards personalization
because that will make the e mail be much more personal to them and it will add a
little bit of context. You can see over here
invitation to speak at. This is a subject
you have opening. I learned of your
work when I attended your talk at some
other conferences. So impressed by your
expertise and insights here, it has added some context about the previous
interaction that you as a event host has
had with the speaker. Now it has added one
generic interaction here, which is like, I
attended your talk. If you have like, let's say
100 event speakers like, it's not possible that you have attended those many talks. This needs to be modified
from case to case, okay? But this is a really
good output as well, wherein it has added some context and
some personal touch. The personal touch is
generic, of course, because we have
just said that we want to add a personal touch from the previous interaction, and it has just added that. Which is fine. We can tweak this to get much
more better result. Now, let us say I have a list of environmental experts that will be speaking
in the conference. Okay, I have few information
about them as well. I have the name of the person, I have their expertise, I have their notable work, and I also have some context into the previous
interaction that I, as a event host
had had with them. Okay, what I can do is I can add all of that information
into the prompt itself. And it is going to give me different E
mails for the same. Here it is, giving me generic
E mails for that purpose. But if I have all
the information, I can absolutely give
that as an input. Let me show that as an example. Take a look at the prompt
that I have added over here. I've said over here, using
the following details of the five
environmental experts, draft personalized
invitation E mails for each highlighting the significance
of their expertise for an upcoming
environmental event. Each E mail should reference their notable work and include a personal touch based on the shared experiences
or encounters. Okay, I'm actually
willing to have a personalized invitation where I'm adding some details
about the event. And I'm also adding
some reference to their notable work so that
they know I know about them. I'm also including a
personal touch where I'm adding some personal encounters that
I've had with them. Okay. Which they
might not remember. But I'm trying to make the e mail a bit
more personalized. Now, this is a
first participant, so these are all dummy
participants that I have gathered. Okay, now this is the
first participant and the expertise is
climate modeling and the notable work of her recent paper on Antarctic
ice melting dynamics, let's say for example,
personal note. Let's say I had met this person at climate
conference in Zurich last year, so I've added that
personal note and I'm giving that as
an input to bar. Similarly, I have,
for all the speakers, I have around like
five speakers. This is a second one.
Similar information. Third one, fourth
one, fifth one. There are five
people that I have. Let us give this
as an input, okay? This is a bigger prompt. As you can see, you'll see it got truncated
with three dots. If you wish to view
the complete version, you can just expand this. Okay, we have the output here. You can see the output here are personalized
invitation E mails for each of the five
environmental experts. And you can see here, like
the first E mail is this one. You have not given your name, date, venue, or the event name. It has just added some
placeholders there. You can replace that
or you can give that as an input in the
prompt as well. Okay. You can see over here, I first met you at the
climate conference in Urich last year and
I was so impressed by your expertise on
climate modeling and you can see I
was particularly interested in your recent paper on Antarctic ice melt dynamics. Here you're adding a really
good personal touch. The moment this person opens this e mail, he'll know, okay, You have some context
with which you are reaching out and it's
just not a random e mail. And here then you pitch in the event and you
close it. Okay. This is for the another
participant, Professor Anil Ama. Here you have for the third
one, like Clara Mendez. Okay? And so on. So here
you can see these are three options that
it has generated. Lydia, 12 Anil Ama three, Clara, It's just generated three and not the All we
can ask it to generate all. Give me for all five
here I've typed ten. Give me e mail for all
five participants. And let's see what it
has to generate here. It has given
personalized invitation, E mails for all
five participants. You can see over here 23. Okay. It has again, given
three responses only. I believe the result
is getting truncated. Okay. You can see Clara
Mendez is the last one. If I see my prompt
over here, Here, let us say for Benjamin, I can say give me e
mails for Benjamin. And no. Let's see if we are able to get e mails for these
two participants. Right? You can see we got the e mails for those two
participants as well. Okay. For some reason, since we had five
participants and the response was
getting very long, like it was being truncated. And you can see over
here, it's truncated. Over here, we were not getting the response for the
last two participants. What I have done is I asked Bard specifically for giving me e mails for the last
two participants. And you can see it has
given me this way. You can generate e mails. If you have the list of participants and some context
that you want to add, you can give that as an input
and bard is smart enough to take that as an input and process it and give you
the final end result. That's Google Bart for you.
9. 09 Translating with Bard: Hey there, Welcome back. I wish to give you a gist of the translation abilities
of Google Bard. With Google Bard, you can translate text from one
language to another. Let me give you an example. Let us say, I add a prompt here, Translate this text from
English to Spanish. Let's say I say I love cheese. And I'll press Enter. You will see the translated
text appear over here. You can see the translation
of I Love Cheese in Spanish. Is this Okay. It has also given you some
explanation over here. Okay. And you can use this to learn any
language if you wish to. Okay. You can ask Google Bard. Hey, can you give
me a plan to learn Spanish in ten days or to
learn Japanese in ten days? You can daily have some
lessons with Google Bard. It can give you lesson
plans and you can understand how it's translating
and what each word means. This can be at your own
piece or you can even use it to translate something that you are seeing
in your project. Let's say if you
wish to translate the entire document to
some other language, then you can use Google
Bard for the same. Asking Google Bard to translate anything will give you
some great results. That's about translation
with Google Bard.
