1. Introduction: Hello everybody and a huge welcome to my second batted class. I hope that you enjoyed the first class. And thank you so much for coming back. Today. We are going to make a piece of batik and we are going to dye it three times. In this class, you will learn how to overdye batik. We are going to use the three primary colors, the yellow, the blue, and the red. And if you're not familiar with color theory, that's fine. But I will advise you to buy one, we ought or to find one online. So let's get started. And there it is. 2. Materials and Tools: These project, you really need a piece of brainwashed cotton, fabric. Wax book. These wags in graphene, chanting tools, brushes, put iron. It will help you understand color. A black pencil column design that you are going to use for a disappointing news brands. He loves. The tree primary Karla dyes, yellow, blue, and red. Okay. So get your materials and tools ready. And then let's get started. 3. Health and Safety : Half and safety. Walk spots should be turned off and not do not leave pencils in the wax as it sits. Wide contact of the hot wax, which are skin. Do not touch the metal part of the basic part while using it. Because it can get extremely hot to not touch the melting wax. Done that over a heat Turtle Wax equals set on fire. Do not try to put our own wax fire with water. Use a fire extinguisher to use baking soda to suffocate the fire. Racks more can be highly damaging to the lungs. So please avoid goofing. It. Makes sure the room is well ventilated. For third year working area from waxen day with paper. Plays the wax BAD, unprotected and stable surface. Do not move the Watts bought while it is hot. Wait until it cools down to stay focused at all time. Makes sure that all the wire covered is I would avoid. 4. Coloring The Design: This is the design that I'm going to walk when I made different samples of My designed to have an idea on how it will look at the end. It is always a good idea to make samples before starting a project. You can make assemble by coloring the design using color pencils, markers, or whatever you can find. Remember Dad, this will only give you an idea about how the basic Michael look because the shade of today will ofcourse be different. I am happy with that simple. I decide to go forward with it. In my sample. I have white, yellow, orange, and brown. I take another design sheet. I mark it with w as a reference to remind me that I am going to leave this of the fabric right? In where I'm going today. I write Y for yellow, orange, brown. It is not really necessary to do that with a small basic. But if you are making a large piece of magic with a lot of colors and you did not take the time to make samples. It's a good thing to do. So you can plan the colour sequence. I have uploaded this design in the course materials section. So you can download it if you want to use it. Of course, you can create your own design. So gotcha, design ready. And I will see you for the next step. 5. Transferring and Waxing The Design: I am happy with my simple. Now, it is time to transfer the design onto the fabric. If you did not watch my introduction to batch class or you are new to batch, I will advise you to watch it. I transferred my design onto the fabric. Now, I am going to watch the areas that should remain white. I put a mixture of bees wax and power into the wax spot and let it melt. With my paint. Brushes. In my chanting tools are wax, the outline of the design and also the areas that had w for white as we funds. Please check the video about waxing dramatic in the battery for beginner class. I have finish waxing all the areas that are two women right? Now, I'm going to die the fabric into first dive that. See you for the next step. 6. First Dye Bath: The first die back. According to the direction of the brand that you are using. Deep the fabric into. 13 minutes. Make sure you cover all the fabric. When the time is up. Remove the fabric in hanging up to dry. I usually wait 24 hours before the second die back. I'll see you for the next step. 7. Second Dye Bath: The fabric is dry. Now it's time to watch the areas that are to be kept. I have finished waxing the area has to be kept below. Now. It's time to die here and rotate the smallest circle. You will be able to see the color combinations. As you can see. If I put the red in front of the yellow part of the color wheel, the result is orange. So I will use a red dye bat to turn me into a red die and place the batty kinda need to turn it into orange. Red dye bat 13 minutes times up. Remove the February from the red dye in Hague, it up to dry. Ok. You're doing great. I will see you for the next step. 8. Third Dye Bath: We have the fabric in orange, wax, the areas to be careful range. I have finished. Now, I am going to die. The fabric Brown. The fabric is orange. So just turned a small circle of the color wheel to see what color to add two orange that will give you ground. As you can see, by adding blue to the orange, we'll give you brown. Make your blue that bat. Did the backseat into the dieback finite attached in minutes. Orange clause blue will give you brown, dark muddy. Remove the battery from the diabetic. Hang it up and let it drag. I'll see you for the next step. 9. Removing The Wax: The fabric is now dry. So it is time to remove the wax from the metric. I use the iron to remove some of the wax from the metric. When use the boiling, our method to remove completely the rest of the wax from domestic. Please check my class Betty, for beginners to see how to boil the wax out of the fabric. So now is stem to boil it out so I can remove all the wax. I have removed the wax from the magic. Now. Hang it up to let it drain. The battery is drained. Now. I run a batty to set the day. You use your normal iron. Iron Dutch you used, but the island out process. The colors in the batik RPM much lighter. This happened because of the x's, the I was moved by the boiling process. And also you cannot just different lines in the background. This is what we call Chrome colon happened because they are cracks in the wax and the die has been treated. Those areas. We have finished the battle. You can frame it or make a one hanging witches. See you for the next step. 10. Final Thoughts: You have finished this lesson. Well, if we were able to start your BATNA weaken Germany, just let your creativity fuel. I will make another class soon that will teach you much more skills in critique and in order textile techniques. Please share your projects with me.
