1. Introduction: Hello and welcome to this course where I will teach you how to bring icons to life. We will take a vector file. Then we'll go into Adobe after effects and prepare this entire animation from scratch. It's a super found project to follow along and know how to do. This time we are going toe work with this military type batch. By the end of discourse, you'll be able to prefer any vector Aiken to use in after effects and completely animated to have a nice animation for your portfolio template or Web use. So enroll now, Let us open after effects and let's start the world. 2. Creating and importing the icon: Hello there. And welcome in this one where we'll work on animating a badge. I have a green example back preferred in Adobe Illustrator And I've already released the layers Two sequences. So the layers are prepared and you can work straight in after effect. If you, however, would like to create this bet on your own, I can show you a quick tip how to do it. Let me prepare a new composition. Full HD, while 60 framework, maybe eternity will be enough. And formance operation is way too much. I wanted to be five for seven seconds. Okay, Now I'll use the batch I've already prepared. But if you like to create those things within after effects on your own, you could, for example, select this rectangle toe a simple rectangle tool. You need off course to use the grit and guides to make it perfectly equal. I'll also will take title action safe. So I have the middle. Okay. And you could create the best like that. At first you could make a rectangle like days. If you are working in Adobe CS six, you should press the left old key while you create distracting because this way you will create a vizier pat if you work in CC or 2017 or older. Newer versions. It's no problem because you can always go toe rectangle. Click on this rectangle pet right click on it and converted to busier pat. Once that is converted and you click on the path you see with the Wiki, you can work with the pat. Ask you please. So the thing I would do here, I would create a new point here with my pen tal. I create one point here. One point here I would click on my path and I'll select this object, press my shift key and pulled it down. And I'll also select this object and pull this a little bit down. Now, this would be the base for my batch. It turned out to be too long. But that's no problem. Remember that you can always click on the path and you will be able to adjust the point. What I would do, I would just adjust the points like that. I would, of course, try to make it perfectly equal by going close to it and watching each pixel. I do. I see I'm not precise here. I'm not precise here. Don't tell anyone because this is just an example. And then I don't like the strikes from the batch. So I would just go here. Affleck another rectangle. I would de select everything because I would want to have it on separate layers I had created like that. I would click here and create a rectangle simply like this. And I'll just made the same off course. I would change the color because I can't stand this white. I really don't see anything. Okay? And again, I didn't press old because I can open the rectangle, open the pet and I can convert it to best your pat. Then I can click on the pad to work with the point. Note that if you click here, you are not able to click on the point. But if you say like just a path, it's perfect, because by using the VP selection tool, we can move it around. So again I would press G, I would click on the path I'll press here and here. Then I will just hit on the path again. Take my selection tool and I didn't make the cut I would try to make it similar to the bottom one like this. Like this. Of course, we would need to be perfectly equal here and Walla. Then you would just duplicate this shape. Put it here, duplicate this shape, but it here, make a star. Here, let me get rid off this great. Well, I wouldn't say that this is perfect, but this is the way of doing it. If you would be perfectly precise with the pixels, this sort, of course, go better. Since I've designed it here, let's use this one because it's it's way better than that. And I don't need to spend more time on this to find unit. But I wanted to show you how it's done with an after effect. Since after effects is not the perfect vector tool and not the perfect vector software. I will make my life easier by taking the product file, placing it inside the program and just important get as a composition. So I'll use composition layer sizes. Okay, press OK and I have the green example batch. Now I have older layers. Let me press control a control C and control V to see how big it is, it turns out to be a tiny bit too big. So I agreed it, and I'll place the composition here because the composition can be very easily size down, scaled down. So it's not as speak. Then I would go to a line, try to align it in center. I see this illustrator file might not be perfect, so the center might be a little bit off, so that would be your prepared to file toe work. Whether you decided to create this patch on your own or you use the project file, please import it into after effects as a composition, import, retaining layer sizes and place it within York new composition. This would be the preferred filed to work. Let's head over to the next lesson where we'll start immediately our animation. 3. Flipping the background: Okay, The hardest part is done. We have it designed. We can use it finally, inside after effect. Now, I do want to delete this file from aftereffect, so I will have not to worry about it when I delete the illustrator file or I do put it away somewhere so we can use this. Just select older object, right? Click and select. Create shapes from vector layer. What is great here is that after effects was able to create the shapes and weaken, delete the illustrator files and we'll have pure shape layers within after effects to use. We would no longer need the illustrator file so we can just straight out deleted and we're left with this beautiful shape players. Now the animation would be pretty simple. Let me start off by de selecting the title action safe. Okay, we have our background and, as usual, I would link everything to the background. So let me select everything with my shift key pick with the background. So the background will be the parent here. And I would imagine that rotation a flip rotation in the Y axis would look really good because this is a badge. It should look strong. It should have a military feeling to it. So let me try to experiment with that. If I press are I only have the simple zero Dacian, but I do want to make it a treaty layer. So I do will have other rotations. And if I will work with the X axis or why access what? You can notice that only this layer is turning. Why is that? Everything is parented, but only this layer is turning. This is because other layers are not set to be treaty layers. So to adjust that we just need to click here dragged down. And now all layers are treaty. Now everything will work properly. Okay, I'll start off the animation. I'll goto one second, but maybe that's too long. Maybe to about 25 frames and on the Y rotation. I'll pick one key frame. Then I'll go back and I'll make the rotation negative 90 degrees. So it will be a flip like that. I can show it to you. Okay, it's revealing from the left side. It turns and it shows itself. This will be your first initial animation. Then I would select those key frames out of course, he from assistant. Easy eased. Um, I wouldn't preview the easing. I would come closer and I'll maybe make it like that. So it's quick at the end. If you will not like this motion. Just press control Z and selected from the other side. Let us preview. If we do like this a bit more. Well, I would argue, but I can do it from both sides a little bit to make the motion really friendly. Okay, I think that really cool. This will be it for this lesson. In the next lesson, we'll work with the star. So a simple animation, we can apply to the star, so please follow to the next one and will create it really easily. 4. Animating the little star: Okay. We have our background flipping. The animation is adjusted and can't remember that we're working within this composition. The camp one is for later. Because we can move this exercises as we want. Okay. The green example. Batch. We wanted to work now with the star and my I imagine the start would look cool if it would flip around and appear from small to big. So I would need to press s like scale and shift our like rotation because these are the only two properties I want to work with. Let me go to one second. So I see the entire star. And as for the rotation, I want to pick a key frame. I want to put the key from a bit later because this is the end result. I want to achieve the normal stadium. And I want irritation to be Oh, not in the y value. Sorry. I wanted it to be on the Z value. So at first, a key frame here and then the rotation to a negative. Maybe. Let's be precise here, 1 80 so it will have one full turn, not an entire term, because that's always usually too much Okay, Well, and it should happen together with the initial flip animation, I will extend the key frames and let me preview what's happening here. Okay, I think this should take a bit longer. This of it quicker. Okay. I'll adjust it in the second because it's connected to the easing we need to do. And the last thing I wanted to address is the scale. Of course. At the end, it should have 100% scale. Let me align them. Okay, But here it should be about Well, not about it should be 0% so it's not visible at all. Okay, the innovation starts to look really nice, but as you can see, it's kind of boring. And it's kind of too slow because I want to start to be already there when the when the item flips. Okay, let me take a look at the easy. I definitely want to be a bit quicker here. Yep. I like the speed and the motion and the quickness of it now, but it starts too late. So the only thing I would need to adjust is taking those key frames and placing them a bit earlier. As you can see here. The key frames were shifted a little bit, so I can know preview it here. Yeah, perfect. And I hit the spot. At least I believe that. Because once this Aiken is slipping, the star let me dissect. It starts to appear, and as we see the entire icon, flipping the star already rotates around. The last thing I want here is the stripes to apply one after another eight in a really powerful fashion. But as for the star, I think it looks really cool. And we'll stop here and work with the stripes in the next lesson because I think we've done a good job here and let's get over to the next one where will work those three stripes and will make a really powerful animation out of them? 5. Animating the stripes: Hello and welcome in this next lesson. Now we have the star ready. We have the background ready. We can work with the stripes here. All right. I want to close down the star, and I will make it orange because we already did work with it. We don't want to hit it unnecessarily anymore. Okay, we have toe background. Shadow outlines Beard, so we do not have to do anything with it. Okay? It's right. Number one. And this time I would like it toe fly in and grow bigger to left and right. And then I want the next toe flight out off it and do the same. So we'll try to tinker with the position and try to figure out a way to make it look really cool. It will be simple. So I want to work with the position p and of course, the scale. So l a press shift s let me start with the scale off course. At the end, it has to be 100%. And at the beginning, 0%. So this is the initial animation, it growth left and right. And it comes towards me. As for the position off course, this should be the ending position. So I'll place another keeping here. But every year, let me maybe you work with that here. It should be above the star. And now I can take you from here, and I can preview if this will look, OK, It's just happened around here, so I'll take the key frames immediately. Let me maybe preview the other key frames. Okay, They were around there. Okay, I do like the motion, but I do not like that. It's visible in this area. And so the position is a bit too slow. The position should be offset a bit earlier, so it starts to travel, and it picks the size at the very end. All right. It starts to become more interesting now. I'll right click. Key premise isn't and, of course, has always East entire animation. Because now I can work both with the position and the scale. I do really like how the scale pops. Maybe try to make it quicker. Now it flies in more to the space. It should, but let me hit deposition. What happens with the position? Maybe it should be a bit quicker at the beginning, as Well, so let me try to adjust it, Okay? I really like the slow down at the end because it nicely face into the place. It should state. I think we tracked this animation pretty right. And the great thing here is that we can copy the scale, but not necessarily the position. So the position should be adjusted by hand. I process. So I see the scale. I pressed the strike. One country. See? On the scale. A bit later, Control. See here, page up. Page up. Page upgrade wrapped up. I want to see how many key friends I went forward. 12345 I went for 60 frames. Okay, let's stay with it. 123456 And the scale here. Okay, this would be what the scale brings. And I don't really like the six frame speed there. Six frames, Officer tweeted. We can eventually go with my old key page down, page down, bulky and page down. Page down, Page down, page down. So it will be now offset. Eight frames. Okay, I think this will be a bit more optimal because previously it was a bit too quick, and I do like the motion right now, but if we adjust the position, it will look just beautiful. So let's select the second strike and the 3rd 1 and press P because we want to work with the position a little bit. We know that at the end, let me press you The position should be a bit earlier than the actual key frame off the scale. So let me go here and check out page up to three Triki frames. Okay? No problem. 123 p. Like position with my shift key position here. No, that. Okay, now the last one page up, page up, page up and position. So we have a key from here. Okay, as well. They're 123 Position G frame. 123 Position, key frame. Okay, now, about those positions, we need to change the second value because we want it to be higher. Maybe I overdone it here. I should see the objects first, so I'll delete this key from in this and I will work with the last strike. It should be a bit higher. Exactly. So it covers up behind this one as well. The 2nd 1 it should hide behind the 1st 1 Perfect. Now it looks really cool. Now I can place the key frames where they should be. 123 It should be here. And this one as well I take This is a mark 123 And I had just the position. Okay, Great. Now I can select the position. Key frames. I can right click key from assistant Eastham in. And now I can preview the animation and the site if this is good or this isn't good yet just a slight adjustment because I think they should be a bit more with a punch. So I'll make the bunch to the left side so it gets quicker at the beginning. OK, Sorry for this one that we place it on the bottom so I don't mess up the speed. What about that? Okay. Really, really, really nice. And what you can eventually do now is to make them a bit later. Because now they might seem a bit too quick one after another. So, Elsa, like my bulky 12345 old and shift toe place. It's 10 frames later because I put this five frames later. So the second needs to be five and another five later. Okay, now I see it's the slow. Let's go back. 123 123123 Okay. And this is kind of the final animation I have. If you want to speed it up, just tinker around with those key frames or those layers. We can offer them a bit differently in the next lesson. I would like to show you less adjustments we can make here to make this finished and polish to be ready to use. 6. Leave a Review, Please: Hey, it would be extremely helpful for this class if you go to the Review tab and click on leave a review and write something there. If you don't see this button yet, you need to watch a few more lectures and it will become available. Sculpture now requires that classes have recent reviews on them. So it would help me greatly. You just click here, you tell if you'd like to class or not, and you write a simpler view and click Submit. I would be very obliged if you can do this right now. Thank you so much and see you soon. 7. Finishing Touches: Okay, welcome in this lesson. Now we have our animation preferred and to see the actual end result. Let's go back to our camp one because we have more visibility here. I'll also select the title action Safe to be disappeared and go back here. Let me make it a bit smaller because I would like it to cover the middle of the screen. I'll place it here in the middle, and now I'll preview if something is too slow. If it's right. In my opinion, the stripes flow in really nicely. Not too quick, not too slow. I can always adjust it a little bit here. If you want Toby, for example, quicker you just place them like that. Then they would appear a bit different. But I do like this study. Slow motion, which happens like that. If you would like to showcase this wagon, let's make a really simple lest adjustment. At first I'd select a background. I would select right click, new and of course, and new solid for the color. I would decide upon the color I can select from color schemes. Okay, Off course not that one. But I'll select Phil. I would place the fill in the background who notice? Read on as well and in the adobe color teams out, for example, explore some color variations I could use. Well, a bit too plain, A bit too simple. Well, maybe this will work. Okay? Or you could search around for something more interesting. I'm being two simple here. Maybe this blue? No, maybe this. Okay, it turns out that this one looks really cool. I have a perfect I can to showcase. I have really nice circles behind it. And I've made quick adjustments into this composition to make it look a little bit better. 8. Thank You!: Thank you so much for your participation in this animation. This tutorial, this little course and why, Thank you. I see a little mistake here. This looks the part isn't visible because you need to collapse. The transformation. If you put that on, it will be normally visible to its full extent. Okay, let me go back today. Thanks. I'm so glad that you took the time to work with me on this. I can Imation. I think this is a really great skill tohave and we slowly Aiken by I can learn new things, new techniques and we expand our overall knowledge about motion graphics. If you did like the tutorials, if you did like this entire course, please give me a jumps up. A positive review really helps me. This is the best way you can Thank me. And you want to show appreciation towards me. If you would like to see more off such classes, I will be very happy if you'll allow me to record more of them for you. For now, I'm signing off. Let us now play but around with it. And I will see you in the next one
