About This Class

From walk the dog to Godspeed and DNA, this class will teach you how to yoyo. Whether you've yoyod before or this is your first time. This class will help you to hone your skills.

As seen on Wavy News 10, Saturday Morning show, Hampton Roads show, Beach Street USA and ABC news 13 News Now, I've been yoyoing for over 18 years. I have also competed both locally and globally.

Ever since first picking up a yoyo, I've always enjoyed sharing this fun hobby and skill with others. Yoyoing has helped me overcome a fine motor control disability I had since birth. I have a desire to help others also overcome their disabilities through learning how to yoyo.
This passion drives me to show the world what modern yoyoing looks like.

1. Yoyo like a Pro Introduction to Yoyoing : There are many different styles and we'll use baring its shape, size, and weight. Modern Io's use ball bearings, which helps make the yo-yo spin longer, allowing you to do longer and more advanced trips. When choosing your first yoyo, I believe it is best to choose a responsive yo-yo. Responsively. Leos come back to your hand easily when you tug on the string. String. There are many different types of yo-yo string. I prefer polyester yo-yo string since it lasts longer than cotton, it has a stiffer field which helps with performing more advanced tricks. In the next video, I will show you how to put a string on a yoyo. I will also show you how to properly hold and throw the ilia. 2. Episode 1 How to Throw: So the first step to learning any tricks is of course, putting the string on the yo-yo. You want to make sure the string is the correct length. This will help you control the yo-yo what learning tricks. Let the yo-yo sit on the floor in front of you. Pinch the string at your belly button or a little higher to give yourself a little more strength to work with. Next, we're going to create a slipknot, create a loop with the string and bring it through the loop. Do the same thing one more time and pull the string tight. Cut off the excess string so it doesn't get in the way. Bring this drain through the loop to create an adjustable slipknot. Place to loop on your middle finger in between your first and second knuckles. Now you're ready to learn your first trick. It's time to learn the gravity pool and sleeper. Hold the yo-yo and your hand with your palm facing this guy. Making muscle and throw the yo-yo down. At the same time, turn your hand over. The yo-yo will return back to your hand. Let the momentum of the yo-yo do the work and close your hand for a clean catch. Now you're ready to learn the sleeper. This trick is very similar to gravity pool, perform the same motion. However, this time, give the yo-yo a little slack, allowing it to spin at the bottom of the string. Tug on the Yoyo to return it back to your hand. 3. Episode 2 Walk the Dog: Throw a strong sleeper, gently touch the Yoyo to the ground, letting it roll across the floor. As you walk with the yo-yo, tug the yo-yo, returning it to your hand. 4. Episode 3 Forward Pass: Hold the yo-yo and turn your hand over with your palm facing downward. Throw them out. At the same time. Turn your hand over. Catch the yo-yo as it returns to your hand. 5. Episode 4 Around the World: Throw the yo-yo out like you're doing a forward pass. However, this time let the yo-yo swing around 360 degrees, tug on the string, returning the yo-yo back to your hand. 6. Episode 5 Rock the Baby DIzzy Baby: Throw asleep or using your thumb and pointer finger, pinch the string with your non-zero hand at halfway between your hand and the yo-yo lift. You're not throw hand up keeping the string pinch. Using your throw hand pinched the string. Now create a triangle using your non-zero hand and bring it underneath the yo-yo. Swing the yo-yo through the triangle you created. Do a few rotations. So again, the yo-yo 360 degrees through the triangle. Drop all the strings and toggling the yo-yo, returning it to your hand. 7. Episode 6 Breakaway: Make a muscle holding eoyo in your hand as if you're going to do asleep or throw the yo-yo, letting it swing across in front of you. As the yo-yo reaches the halfway mark, tug on the string, touch the yo-yo as it returns to your hand. 8. Episode 7 Trapeze: Hold your non throw hand out with your palm down and pointer finger out. Now throw a breakaway. Let the string wrap around your pointer finger with a yo-yo landing on the string. Pop the yo-yo off the string, catching it in your hand. 9. Episode 8 Trapeze & Bro: Throw the yo-yo landing on a trapeze. Pop the value off the string, letting it wrap around. You're not throw him middle finger. At the same time. Sticking out your throw hand, pointer finger, land a yo-yo on the string. Swimming off the string back onto a trapeze mount. Pop the yo-yo off the string, returning into your hand. 10. Episode 9 Double or Nothing: Throw the yo-yo as if you're going to land on a trap PDEs. However, let the yo-yo swing around your pointer finger, continue this motion passing over your throw hand pointer. And finally one more time over, you're not throw away and pointer finger landing the yo-yo on the string, dropped the string off your thorough hand. Just swing the yo-yo away from you in one full rotation. Pop the yo-yo off the string, catching it in your hand. 11. Episode 10 Brain Twister: There was sleeper with their non throw hand, push your pointer finger into the string. Using her throw hand, place the string into the gap of the yo-yo. With your thorough hand. Pull the strings towards yourself to create momentum. Swinging the yo-yo in front of you while it's on the string. Dismount the yo-yo and return it to your hand. 12. Episode 11 Ripcord: Throw a sleeper and insert your non-zero hand pointer finger into the string. Now stick out your throw hand pointer finger towards your non throw him. In the yo-yo overthrow hand pointer finger landing. And on this trip, push her non-zero hand pointer finger down on to the two strings closest to your thorough hand pointer finger. This will cause the Yoyo to pass over your throw him pointer finger. Repeat this motion one more time. Drop all the strings, offer throw hand, pointer, finger, dismount the yo-yo and return it to your hand. 13. Episode 12 UFO: Stick out your non thorough hand with your palm facing down. Throw the yo-yo out sideways, letting the string drape over your thumb. Let this string wind around the yo-yo for a few seconds. Gently pull the yo-yo up with your thumb and toggling this string, returning the Yoyo to your hand. 14. Episode 13 Mach 5: They're asleep or Atlanta Yo-Yo. And this split bottom out. This is the same mount you learned when doing rip cord. Underpass the yoyo towards yourself with your non-zero hand. Continue this motion to where your hands are parallel with each other. Rotate your hands around the yo-yo. Stop the rotation when you throw hand is underneath your non throw hand, drop the string off your thorough hand pointer finger and dismount the yo-yo, returning it to your hand. 15. Episode 14 Split the Atom: Then the yo-yo on a split bought Mt, bring the yo-yo into the string in front of you while under passing with your not throw him pointer finger, push your pointer finger into the two strings and underpass that. Again. Bringing it up to the back string, pull on the two strings towards yourself through throw hand, corner finger, causing the Yoyo to rotate as you wouldn't brain twister. Drop all the strings offered through our head pointer finger. The smart the yo-yo. And returning to your hand. 16. Episode 15 Atomic Bomb: When the yo-yo on a split bottom out. Pull your non-fair and pointer finger down and under the yo-yo passionate eoyo onto the front string. Lift. You're not throw hand up and pass the yo-yo onto the string in front again. Repeat this motion a couple of times. Drop all the strings off with her head pointer finger, and return the Yoyo to your hand. 17. Episode 16 Unresponsive Yoyoing Learning to Bind: Graduated to a non-responsive eoyo. This means the yo-yo is made not to come back easy to your hand. So how do we bring it back to bind the yo-yo, you need to get an upstream in the gap to get it to catch and return to your hand. If you're a throwing asleep or in front of you, insert your not their head pointer finger in front of this string and bring her throwing hand down while lifting you're not throwing ended up bringing the string into the gap of the yo-yo. Well, you're throwing hand up, keeping the yo-yo on the street. At the same time, pulling your pointer finger out of the yo-yo will catch and return to your hand. To do this one, my thoughts dollar amount as you would a breakaway, which are non-zero and pointer finger into the stream will pull in your throat cancer the right. Bringing me go, you're on the string and under repeat the same motion as before. Finding the yo-yo. 18. Episode 17 String Tension: After you've been doing for a few minutes, you'll notice the string will tend to twist up on you. This is no fun, especially when trying to learn new tricks. Here's a trick that you can do to address your strain tension while the yo-yo is still spinning, land the yo-yo and then under mount, open up the loop with your non-zero hand pointer, finger and thumb. Insert your thorough hand into the loop. Grabbed the back string with erythro hand. Grab the string with they're not throw hand and pull to the left. The string should start to unwind itself. Check your attention and repeat this process until the string tension is neutral. If your string is twisted in the opposite direction, you can also do a quick adjustment or grabbing the string near the bottom of the yo-yo with you're not throwing hand. Popped the yo-yo up with your throat hand and at the same time, pull your hand to the side, causing the string to untwist around the yo-yo. 19. Rock the Yoyo to get momentum and then move your throw hand up and down, causing the Yoyo to pop back and forth between the strings. This not the yo-yo and bind. 21. Episode 20 Kwijibo: The yo-yo on a trapeze. Pop the yo-yo up and across your thorough hand over your not throw an intercept in this string with your throat and pointer finger, blending the yo-yo on the string and crushed her hands, swinging the Yoyo to the right, you should be in a 1.5 mount cross or not their hand over your thorough hand top the yo-yo up on cross your hands, lamba yo-yo on the string, putting you in a double or nothing now, dropped the string off your throat and pointer to rotate the area to the left. Hey, craft. It's not the yo-yo and bar. 22. Episode 21 Eli Hops: Lambda yo-yo on a trapeze. Pop the yo-yo up by bringing your hands together and then back apart, lending the yo-yo back on the string. Repeat this motion a few times. This month. The yo-yo and bind. 23. Episode 22 Snap Start: Sometimes we're learning tricks you may mess up and need to wind the yo-yo backup. A quick way to do this is to learn how to snap start. There's a few different ways to do this, but here are two of my favorites. Hold the yo-yo and you're thorough hand and place your hand over top of the yo-yo with your palms open. Push or not throw hand forward, putting pressure on the yo-yo. And at the same time, you're not throwing it in the opposite direction towards you. Cause an eoyo to start spinning. Bring eoyo onto the string and buying. Another way to snap start the yo-yo is to let the yo-yo sit at the bottom of the string. Take your non throw hand and hold the yo-yo and your hand with your palm facing downward. Hold your thorough and still hold down on the yo-yo with your non-zero hand causing it to spin by neodymium. 24. Episode 23 Rewind: When the yo-yo on trapeze dismount the yo-yo around. You're not throw him middle finger Atlanta and onto trapeze and his brother. Does not the yo-yo and perform a double or nothing. This is not the yo-yo again over you're not there and middle finger passing it over your throat and pointer finger at landing and on the string. Not the yo-yo wants more passing it over, you're not there and pointer finger, throw hand, pointer finger. And lastly over you're not throw hand pointer finger at landing it on the string, drop all the strings off your throat hand pointer finger. This mount the yo-yo, but swing it to the left on wrapping all the stream from your not their hand pointer finger, leaving you in a trapeze, dismount the yo-yo and bind? Yes. 25. Episode 24 Boomerang: Let me Jojo onto an under mountain top the yo-yo off the string by pushing down on the string with your thorough hand while pulling up with your non-zero hand. Dismount the yo-yo and bind. 26. Episode 25 Chopsticks: Lambda yo-yo on a trapeze spread out, you're not throw him thumb and pointer finger. Push down onto the string with you're not throw hand thumb landing a yo-yo on the strings in between your thumb and pointer finger. Drop all the strings off or you're not throw hand and buying. 27. Episode 26 Rapid Spin: Throw a breakaway inland eoyo as if you're going to enter a 1.5 mountain. Remove your non throw hand pointer finger from the mountain. Swing eoyo up and over to the left towards your not throw hand. Sewing the yo-yo away from you, rejecting this string from the yo-yo, pinch this string with their throat, hand pointer, and thumb to maintain the slack. Swing the yo-yo as if you're going to land in a trapeze while swinging the slack, landing it into the gap of the yo-yo. Released the string from your non throw hand pointer finger, letting it drop in front of the yoyo. Yoyo towards your throat hand while intercepting the string with your pointer finger, learning in a one-point five green triangle. Dismount the yo-yo by popping it up and over the strings. Release the string from your non throw hand pointer finger. Swing the string around twice, releasing that tension and then hook the string back into the yo-yo. Release the pinch string from your throat hand, thumb and pointer. Swing the yo-yo as if you're going to learn in an iron whip, dropping the slack into the yo-yo, release the string at the same time catching the loop with their non throw hand pointer, finger. Pinch the string with their non throw hand pointer and thumb. When the yo-yo and Slack over towards your throat hand landing the slack on top of your hand. Pull your hands apart, popping the yo-yo straight up into the string, binding the yo-yo. 28. Episode 27 Cross Chop GT: Start with the trapeze. Insert your thumb into the loop and pinch the string between your non throw hand pointer and middle finger. Bring your throw hand closer to your non-zero hand, creating a slack. Swing the yoyo towards your throw hand landing on a trapeze and his brother pull your non throw hand to the left, making this slack taunt. Cross your non thorough hand over your throw hand, dismount the yo-yo, swinging it towards your non throw hand and keeping your arms cross, landing the Helio in a reverse green triangle formation. Uncross your arms while swinging in the yoyo towards your non throw hand. Insert your throat hand pointer finger from the front end to the green triangle formation. Push down on the string. Does mounting the yo-yo from the back, continue that motion. Swinging the yo-yo over the top of your non throw hand pointer finger and into the string. Drop the string off your non throw hand thumb. Sweeney yoyo, back over towards your non throw hand. Intercept the string with your throw hand thumb disk mounting the yo-yo. Invert your throw hand. Linda, yo-yo in the inverted chopstick, dropped this string off. You're not throw hand pointer finger binding the yo-yo. 29. Episode 28 Skydive: Breakaway, letting the Passover, you're not throw hand, thumb and throw hand pointer, finger, pinch this stream between your non throw hand pointer and thumb up to the right, creating a slack intercept the slack, inserting your nod their head pointer finger into the loop. So when they go up into the right, releasing the string from your non-zero hand thumb, landing the yo-yo and the chopstick mount created, pop the yo-yo out of the chopstick mount and landed into the back string, puppy yo-yo straight up into the front string and out swinging it back through the open Mount. Lending the yo-yo back on this center strain, pinched the string on, you're not throwing hand between your pointer and middle finger and drop the string. Offer throwing hand, pointer finger, swing the Yoyo to the left around your non throw hand while incident in your pointer finger into the Slack loop. Let the yo-yo hit against the top front string reversing direction. Linda yoyo back around on the back string closest to you. Drop the string off, you're throwing hand pointer finger, bring the slack loop around the yo-yo, creating another mount. Dropped the string off, you're not their hand thumb and let the slack drop around and in front of the yo-yo, pop the yo-yo up slightly while underpass and the yo-yo around the front, landing in a green triangle, dismount the yo-yo from the front and buying.
