About This Class

I made this course for beginner and intermediate singers who want to level up their singing.

The title of the course says The Ultimate Vocal Exercises. And I believe in my statement. And I believe if you just put enough time into practicing these exercises, they will work for your voice no matter how bad or good you are at singing.

And the reason is simple. I've been testing out and redesigning these exercises for a decade now with more than five hundred private students I had. So it's obvious why I believe in their practicality.

Do them for enough time and do them right, and they will fix most of your vocal problems like breaking into falsetto, not being able to sing your high notes freely, not having a pleasant tone, and many more.

But I don't think just giving you some exercises will fix everything in your singing.

For example, if you do hundreds of push-ups for months, but you do them the wrong way, not only you won't be able to build muscles, you might also injure yourself.

It's one thing to practice an exercise; it's another thing to practice it right.

And because of this, I made detailed demonstrations of each exercise so that you learn the exact proper way of doing them.

I will also show you the wrong approaches you might take with singing the exercises. So that I can make sure you will to do them the right way and get the most out of your practice.

I tried my best to keep everything short and practical so you can watch the whole course at once and start your practice right away.

All the exercises come with demo files and MP3 files. And in two different formats for males and females to lower the chance of vocal range issues you might experience while practicing.

I hope this course brings you some value that can help you in your singing journey.

1. Introduction : Hi, Let's say you want to sing a phrase and you sing it like this. Just kill him. Again. Puma trigger. And your voice suddenly flips into falsetto. Or you might sing it like this. Just kill a man. It feels like you're all pushing it and it doesn't feel right. Or you might think it like this. Just kill a man and it's all off pitch. Or you might sing it like this. Just kill a man and it's all shouting. And you might ask yourself, why is it that I can sing it, right? I can't enjoy it. Do I not have enough talents or my voice isn't good enough? Well, it's not about that you don't have enough talent or your voice isn't good enough. It's the fact that singing is a scale and you just have not trained your voice properly. As simple as that. Let me give you an example. You've just bought a great piano, most expensive piano in divorce, which is set at it. And ask yourself, why is it that our chance play beautiful songs with it? No, you won't. Because buying a piano does not make you a pianist. First, you need to learn how to practice properly, at the very least, practice for some time, and then expect that the time you've put into practice to pay off and let you play the songs you love to play with your piano or your voice is exactly the same. How can you tell if your voice is an amazing one or nuts on Sealy, you haven't trained it the right way and you haven't put the right amount of time into it, you never know how much potential your voice might have. And in fact, if you have any problem with your singing or you're just not satisfied with your voice. It just means that you have not watched on your voice the way you should be. And this course is all about helping you with that. I give you the time to set exercises that will build up your voice and will eliminate the most common issues singers a struggle with. I will teach you the exact way to do each exercise and also how not to do them. Simply because if you do an exercise even four years, but you don't do it properly, it won't do any good for you. You will also learn how to eliminate the issues you have in your singing with the help of these exercises. And for all the exercises, you get both demo files and MP3 files and for both male and female voices. I should also tell you that this course is totally beginner friendly and you don't have to have any kind of knowledge of singing to start it. But it doesn't mean it's easy. It's not. I also tried my best to make this course as short as possible so you can learn all the exercises and once in about 30 minutes or so, and then start your practice right away. And please keep in mind if you want results, you need to practice consistently. You shouldn't expect this course to just do magic for you. Although I tried my best to compact as much practical information to this short-course and put the best exercises I've been redesigning for a decade now with my private students. It all depends on you and how much you are willing to work for yourself. But I guarantee if you give it a shot and practice consistently, you will definitely see some results. 2. How To Use The Course: How to use the course. After you learn how to do the exercises, you can start your practice with the demo files, which have my voice as a demo just at the beginning of each exercise. Now, after some time as you get more comfortable doing the exercises instead of the demo files, you should practice with the MP3 files that don't have any voice Demos. Practicing all of the exercises together will take you about 30 minutes. And you can practice for up to one or two hours daily. You can practice, solve the exercises more than others. It can practice all at once or practicing different sessions during the day. It all depends on you, how much time you have and what do you want from your practice. And most importantly, you need to do trial and errors in order to find out what works best for you. I should also mention that when you have less than 15 minutes to practice, or you just want a quick warm-up to start your singing. It can get help from my other course that consists of the exact exercises you'll learn in this course, but with some minor tweaks so that they can work better in shorter timeframes, like your five-minute vocal warm-up or a ten minute one. Now, keep in mind when doing the exercises, you should not push your voice at all. Expanding your vocal range takes time. And if some part of an exercise is too high for you or if it's too low, leave it. Don't push your voice respect to your voice and give it enough time to grow. Also, make sure you give your voice some rest in between each exercise. And you can rest from ten seconds up to ten minutes. It really depends on you and how you feel at that moment. If you feel everything is good and your voice is fine, you can move faster. However, if you feel your voice is tired and needs more time, given more wrist. And keep in mind that the more you're new to practice, the more time your voice needs to rest. And the last note at the beginning, you may not be able to do the exercises perfectly and probably you won't, and that's totally fine. But gradually you will definitely get better at them. The better you do the exercises, the better they will affect your voice and your singing. To become a better singer, you need to have a good set of exercises which you have. You need to know how to do them properly, which you will. And the only thing left is to give yourself enough time to learn. Now, let's start learning. 3. Ex1. HUM: With our first exercise is we should try our best not to put any extra tension on the voice and what spirit and is starting with a sound. We already know, well, a simple home. Here, we do it with the tongue out to have less tension in the back of the tongue and encourage more ease on freedom the sound. Don't think you'd like this. Be gentle with it and let the sound come out easily by itself. And try not to singular like this. It should feel smooth and connected. Not like this. It should be like this. When you're doing this exercise, you need to make sure that your face and neck muscles are totally relaxed. Your face needs to be completely blank, like there's nothing in it. You can also use a mirror while you're singing to make sure that you've loosen up all these muscles. Nora thing to keep in mind while you're doing this exercise is to make sure you don't hold back the year like this. It shouldn't feel like you are holding the air in your chest. Your breathing needs to be completely relaxed. 6. Ex2. LIP ROLL: Our second exercise sounds like this. What's our goal in this exercise? To sync from the bottom of our range to the top without putting any strain or tension on the voice. That's great. But it's a hard thing to do because most of us think we need lots of air when we think about singing higher notes. But that's not true. And blessing beer, especially on higher notes, we'll put a lot of strain on the vocal cords, so you need to get good at controlling your airflow. And one of the best exercises that helps you get good at controlling your airflow is definitely the liberal because it helps you have a more consistent airflow throughout your whole range. If you change your airflow while you're doing the liberal, you will probably lose your liberal. Now to do it right? First, put your lips together and make the sound. You might not be able to do it right away. So don't worry, just try out everything with me. Now. Make a sound with it. Now, low one. High one. Now what can you do if you have a problem doing liberal? First, put your finger on your cheeks and gently press your fingertips. You can do it like this or like this. Now makes your whole face relaxed. Breathe. And if your lips are too tight like this, just lightly push your cheeks forward. It takes a tightness out over your lips. If it's like this. And your lips are too loose, you can fix it by gently pushing. You're pushing your cheeks slightly towards your ear, towards the back. Like this. We take the slack out of your lips. In any case, you can place your fingers on your cheeks and move them around and experiments till your liberal becomes more steady and easy. Now, two things to do to make your liberal bidder. First, splitter to inhale through your nose, your mouth. Second, please don't push it when you go up like this. Yeah. The whole purpose of the exercise is to keep your airflow consistent throughout your range like this. So just let the sound come out easily by itself. 9. Ex3. FRY-NG: Our third exercise is called fry, Angie, and it sounds like this. It's the combination of vocal fry and the NG sound. Now, let's work on these separately and then we put them together. First, vocal fry, pitch and easy nodes and make it as relaxed as possible. For example. Make it as lazy as possible. And don't force it like this. And don't push it. It should, it must be easy. You need to pay attention to two things. When you do the vocal fry. First, your voice needs to be in its most relaxed state. Second, your volume should be as low as possible. For example, it shouldn't be like this. If your volume is too high, then producing vocal fry, we'll be really challenging. Ah, you don't want that makes your volume as low as possible. Now, VNG sounds say towards sing, but don't stop at the end and keep the sound like this. Is the NG sound. There's nothing coming out of your mouth and all the sound is coming out from nose. If you hold your nose, your voice stops. Any phew, close or open up your mouth. The sound doesn't change because there's nothing coming out of it. Now let's put them together. Fry. Angie. In a nutshell for ING is just a fan and raspy sound that's coming out from the nose. And that's it. If you have problem with this exercise, one thing that will definitely help you is to drop your jaw and make sure that it's loose enough. 12. Ex4. GOO: All right, So exercise sounds like this. Goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, Good. Good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good. Now, let's say you are singing or phrase. Again, daughter, dear. And this happens. Or ICU or something like that, your voice suddenly breaks into falsetto, especially when you are trying to reach your higher notes. It suddenly breaks and it might really discourage you. And that's why I put this exact exercise for you. Actually, the g sound helps your vocal cords not to slip apart easily. Good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good. So if your voice doesn't connect easily or you want more presence in your sound, then this exercise will help you a lot. Just make sure you don't sink it airy like this. Goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo. Accentuate the g sound. Good, good, good, good, good. Like this. Goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, ****, ****, ****, ****, ****. 14. Ex4. GOO female demo: Good. 15. Ex5. MUM: There are six is size sounds like this. One. Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm. A huge problem. Many seniors having their singing is as they sink higher, knows their larynx also goes up high. For example. Compare this to this end. It can be especially worse for male seniors. So to fix such issue, first, what is larynx? And second, how does it feel when it goes up high? And third, is it bad to sing with a hilarious position? The answers are first question, what's the larynx? Place your finger on your Adam's apple. Behind it is your larynx. Now, if you don't have a prominence, Adam's apple like me, simply place your finger at the top of your neck, underneath your chin and a slide down just a little bit until you feel is slightly protruding notch behind it is your larynx, your vocal chords. Now the second question, how does it feel to sing with a higher larynx position? Push your finger over it and swallow. Notice how it immediately rises. That's the extreme high larynx position. If you sing or speak with the high extreme high larynx position, sam will be still fan and tense just like that. Now in singing, for example, true the crew, compared to this man, oh man, cry. He see that tone feels unnatural and unhealthy. Now the last question, Is it bad to sing with a high larynx position? If it's the artistic effect that you're looking for, that's fine. But if you overdo it or you sing with a high larynx position because you don't have any control over it, then it might make some major problems for you. For example, you might not be able to senior high notes freely, which is not a good thing. Or you might sink flats and off pitch a lot. Or your vibrato or refs might not come out easily. Now to mom, exercise is a great way for working on your, on lowering your larynx and fixing the habit of singing with the highlands position. Actually by doing all of the exercises in this course daily, you can illuminate most possible bad singing habits you might have. And the extreme island is position is just one of them that I thought it's important enough to be mentioned. Now, when doing the exercise, make sure you don't spread the vowel like this. Mama, mama, mama, mama, keep it narrow. My mom, mom, mom, mom, mom. And if you feel hardship in your high notes and feel a squeeze like this, mama, mama, mama. Which means your larynx is going up high too much, then dark getting your voice will help you a lot like this. Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau Mau, Mau Mau. More, more, more, more, more, more, more. The darker the sound, the greater release and more freedom you will experience in your high notes. But definitely don't force your larynx down too much like this. Boop, boop, boop, boop. Just an easy dopey sound. 16. Ex5. MUM male demo: Mm mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm. Mom. My mom, mom, my mom. My mom. 17. Ex5. MUM female demo: Mm mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm. 18. Ex6. STACCATO-LEGATO: The next exercise sounds like this. It's first a staccato. And then legato. The most important thing for the staccato parties that you should not have an airflow first. And then Islam the vocal cords together. Shouldn't be like this. The right approach is like this. The starting point should not be airy. And if you chance, do it like this. You can also get help from vocal fry. Also makes sure you don't sink into loud. Be gentle. Especially when singing higher notes. Don't, don't raise your volume or force it like this. Be consistent. You can drop your jaw for the higher notes. But it's important to only open up your mouth vertically and horizontally like this. Keep it narrow. By doing this Sokoto, you're refining your core closures so that you have more power in your voice and more control over it. That's why we do the staccato before the legato so that the vocal cords trained to stay connected. Just, ah, not easily slip apart. And if when doing the legato par your voice breaks, it's fine. These exercises are not meant to be easy. With these exercises, you're working on your basic singing skills. And basic or simple does not mean that it's easy to, it's not. But no matter what, if you really work on these exercises consistently, you will see the results, but at the same time, you should not expect to see the results so fast. It's like muscle building. You won't be able to press £200 in the first month or exercising. Or you may, if you push yourself too hard, too soon, you will injure yourself. You will damage, solve your tendons and ligaments. When it comes to training your voice, it's the same. So practice consistently and daily and you will build a voice you love. Gradually. You're not going to build a voice you love in just one week, but you can make it closer to what you love in just one week. 21. Ex7. NUH: The next exercise sounds like this. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None. You should try to focus more on the end. Sound like this. None, none, none, none, none, none. And not seeing it like this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't think you'd like this. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None. Fingers. If only the end sound is important to you. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None. And make sure you don't sink it with a tight jaw like this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Open it up. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None. None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None. And as you go higher, try not to change the vowel. For example, like this. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None. Keep the vowel consistent. None, none, none, none, none, none, None, None, None. Don't change it like this. None, none, none, none, none, none, none, none. Also keep the volume, the pressure and everything consistent and the same. None, none, none, none, none. None, none. Don't think he liked this. None, none, none. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Keep it the same. None, none, none, none, none, None, None, None, None. None, None, None, None, None, None, None, None. 22. Ex.7 male demo: None, none, none, none. 23. Ex7. NUH female demo: No. 24. Ex8. Sustained NUH: And our last exercise, it sounds like this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's important to know that this exercise is the hardest exercise in this course. And I'm not telling you it's hard to scare you. I am telling you it's hard so that you know, it takes time. Now, keep in mind if your voice gets too heavy and out-of-control like this, for example. None, none, none. Make your mouth as narrow as possible like this. None, none, none. Don't make it wide. Make it narrow. None, none, no, no. If your voice flips into falsetto like this, none, none, none. None, none, none, no. It's because you're singing get too heavily. So singing with less weight like this, for example. None, none, none. Instead of if your sound is like you're pushing it too much like this. None, none, none. Nor your larynx or by darkening your voice. No, no, no, no, no. And instead of None, None, No. Now, if the exact opposite happens and your voice is too airy and two lights like this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Focus more on the n sound. Put more pressure on your n sound. None, none, none, none, none, none. Instead of no, no, no, none, none, none, none. None, none, no. Or you can also start with a little bit of Frei No, No. None, none, none, none, none, none, none, no. Now, one last tip that will work, no matter watts is to add a somewhat a cry quality to your sound like this. No, no, no, none, none, none. It should really feels as if you're crying. Especially if your sound is somewhat dull, like this. None, none, none, none. Or it's somewhat Saudi sound. By adding cry to it, you will definitely fix it. No, none, none, none, none, none, none. None, none, no, it's totally fine if you really exaggerate the sound. None, none, none. None, none. So definitely test it out. 25. Ex8. Sustained NUH male demo: None, none. None. None, none, none, None, None, None. None. 26. Ex8. Sustained NUH female demo: None, none, none. None. None, None, None, None, None, None, None. None. 27. Final Words: I congratulate you on finishing the course. I have another course that consists of the exact exercises you learn in this one, but with some minor tweaks that will help you to have a very quick vocal warm-up, a five-minute vocal warm-up, and the 10-minute warning, which can be very handy for when you just have a very short amount of time to practice. Or you want to do a quick warm-up to just prepare your voice and starts you're singing. If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. I would love to help you. And if you like this course, please leave a review. I really appreciate it. It's been a real pleasure. I wish you the best. Keep practicing and keep singing. See you next time.
