How to Record & Edit Your Own Videos and Tutorials. Screen Recording Masterclass

1. Introduction: Do you wonder how to properly record your screen at a webcam? Edit and assemble everything so it looks professional and makes sense to the viewer. Look no further since I will be covering exactly that. Screen recording, video editing, free programs, paid programs, webcams, microphones, equipment. I will discuss an Explain Everything you should know about those topics. I have created this course to focus 100% on teaching you how to professional. You record your screen. I will show you how to sound well on your microphone and some basic video editing. So you get your video's done right away. To really make sure that happens, I have prepared specific tests for you to perform and footage you will edit alongside me during the lectures. The beauty here is that I do not only focus on youtube or creating online courses, because once you know how to record your screen and turn it into an edited video, you can use it for any purpose. That perfect student for this course is someone who wants to start recording their own tutorials once to produce their own videos on their own terms. There is absolutely no reason to hesitate, enroll now and change your life for the better. I'm ready to start working. See you inside and let it go. 2. Download Resources: In order to really practice what we're doing, I strongly recommend that you download the resources for this class. You can find them in the project and Resources tab. Here on the right side, there should be something like resources dot zip. I will of course, change this file over time. So if you don't have any file, just redownload the resources. Once I have this here, I simply unpack it. In my case, extract, extract, and I have a new folder later on. Once you go about screening, recording and video editing, as I'll show you exactly how, what and when to use the first time you will use this in the video editing section where I have recorded a symbol tutorial with a mistake I made. Let's not prolong the introduction because I'm really excited to be finally working with you and I'll see you in the next lecture. 3. 02-01. Screen Recording: And New Section, a new cup of tea. A couple of things about required investment. At first, screen recording is screen recording is possible boat with free and paid programs within this course. In later section, I'll provide a couple of solutions or rather introduce you to programs that are a mix of three things. Very popular, meaning they will be most likely supported in the future and will remain as leading softwares often used, which means there will be many tutorials on the web to help you. And I will be sitting here and helping you as well. The third thing, tested and highly approved, both by communities would use it and buy me typically big disclaimer. I'm not sponsored or affiliated with any of the programs and solutions I provide in this course. Everything is based on my usage, knowledge and the research. Sticking to the topic of this section, which is required investment, I will list three tiers, a free tier, a semi free tier, and a paid dear. When it comes to free, it obviously requires no investment. I'll talk here about stream labs, OBS, which is currently free in the semi free, which means that you can use their software for free, but it will most likely add some watermarks are have some limitations and restrictions like lowering the resolution of your recording, lower FPS. A program like this, which we will discuss here is bandy cam, and a premium version costs around $40 depending on the current price and promise in the paid tier, I'll talk about Camtasia, which is a video editor or which includes a particularly good screen recorder. Its original price is pretty expensive, ad around 250 Euros, and you can test it 30 days for free. And they sometimes run pronouns, which can you get this program cheaper? So as you can see for recording your screen, you can either run free or go up to a couple of $100. 4. 02-02. Webcam or Camera: Webcam, like in my case you see here, or camera like in my case, you see on this side. First off, I want to very heavily stress that having yourself on the screen is absolutely not mandatory or unnecessary. Almost any topic can be explained with video and voice. It will really heavily depend on the type of content you want to produce, on your personality and your goals. You can of course, start without one. And once you have experienced by a camera later on, unless of course, you really want it and think it will enhance the overall quality and engagement on the video. It certainly helps to shine through with your personality. Gives more room for bad humor, as you can see for emotions. And you can show people how you drink tea. That's obviously a positive side. We will have, of course, an entire section about webcams where I went to showcase different models, different price points. How to possibly connect a DSLR camera to your computer, which is the ultimate high-quality solution. If this is within your budget, I treat the webcam as an addition and enhancement and an optional choice and emphasize that you do not have to stress about it. If you don't have one yet, you can consider getting it in the future once you have more experience with screen recording and overall in this entire business, this course, this class, will teach you how to create well edited videos, no matter the equipment you have, as long as you have a working PC or Mac. So the required investment here can be 0 doors up to $100 for a suitable DSLR camera and a connection device. But more about that in the webcam recording section. 5. 02-03. Microphone: Microphones, a few words about them. For screen recording, you can use a free or paid program for the webcam or a camera. You don't really need a webcam if you don't want it. But for the microphone, you will probably need an external USB microphone connected to your computer to sound. Will you came to this course to learn about screen recording, about creating tutorials, about how to create and edit your own videos. And I don't want to hold you to long here. So I cannot talk along about microphones. Since this topic is connected, it's inherent to the entire screen recording and video creation process. I will record an entire section about microphones and soundproofing and edit to this course as a bonus, what you however, need to know when it comes to microphones and their quality. There are essentially two things. The microphone itself and sound proofing your room to have less reverb, less echo, less bouncy walls, less empty walls. To make the sound bounce off an sound worse. You can have a 20000-dollar microphone and still sound terrible. But you can also have a $50 microphone and sound incredibly well to not waste any time, I will compare to you now for devices are built in a laptop microphone, which you shouldn't really use if you want to be competitive and taken seriously. And three microphones that I have present in my office, the Samson Go Mike, they're wrote Auntie USB and this year, the sure. Bg 42 USB. You can find out more in the dedicated section about microphones, what I want to show you here and recommend at a lower price point at about $40 depending on the current and the current price. There's this Samson Go Mike, which sounds absolutely amazing. You'll hear it in a second and it's super convenient and easy to use. You can open it that way. I don't know if you see this properly on the camera and you can mount it basically on anything. You can even create a poll here or something like a wooden pole. And you can create a really broad because microphone out of it. Maybe not with your finger. I'd prefer to have something else here, but I just want to show you the convenience of a small but high quality microphone. Let's hear the sound differences between the microphones and you will see for yourself what could possibly work for you. This is the laptop Mike. I am giving an example to give you a comparison and overview. This is the Samson Go Mike. I am giving an example Sound Test to give you a comparison and overview. This is the road NT USB mike. Once again, this is how an integrated laptop Mike can sound. Once again, this is how Samsung go Mike can sound. The sound isn't as deep and full, but for this price point, it's an amazing microphone. Once again, this is how wrote Auntie USB mike can sound. Once again, this is how sure PG 42, USB mike can sound. And I am the most confident talking into it because I'm using it all the time. So I kinda get its vibe. There. We have a disaster compulsion. I'd love to talk more about microphones, but I don't want to stop you from recording your screen and learning how to create your own tutorials. Few more informations and we will start the actual recording process. 6. 02-04. Storage and Security: Storage and security, a topic that is certainly overlooked and seems unimportant at first, but it's worth thinking about right at the start. Or recordings you shoot, edit, and produce, take up a lot of hard drive space on your PC. This is simply the nature of video, given that full HD resolution is now a standard. And for some niches like gaming, you most likely are going to record your screen at 60 FPS. Your drives will get clumped up with the material very fast. I think I've already uploaded my videos on my company's learning platform or YouTube. I don't need it anymore. What if those platforms close, you change your job or YouTube delete your video. Not to mention that once you put your videos online, they are processed down so the quality is lower even if you download it from the same place. Again, the downloaded file will be of lower quality. You should definitely consider once you have enough material to back it up, either on cloud or a physical drive outside your main Pc. And this is important outside your main BC because if a lightening strikes or your PC dies, there is a possibility that your data dice with it. Over the years, hard drives got a bit cheaper. Even SSD drives are now a bit cheaper. And from what I know, if an SSD drive dies and the content is very difficult or nearly impossible. To get back. Look at this course, I've just recorded one section and this section is already four gigabytes. Yes, I have high resolution files mode for my webcam M and my screen recording, but nevertheless, I do not want to lose this content once I will put so much energy and time into it in the long run, just remember to calculate that. In my case, I'm sending over my recorded video files may already rendered files onto the cloud and once a month and make a backup of my entire material to an external server which I have purchased esspecially for that reason, and external server, which is outside of my main PC. So even if my main PC blows up, my content is still safe, at least to the month that I copied it over. Just keep that in mind as a possible requires investment. 7. 03-01. Terminology: I'm doing that to have a better voice. I want you to have a perfectly clear understanding of what I'm talking about in this course. So we are always on the same page. I will very briefly explain terms. We will often come across like footage, codecs, MP4 files, or rendering. Don't worry, you will not have to memorize any definitions. At first footage once we get our screen recording or additionally webcam recording, which isn't yet edited with all our mistakes, misspellings and misspellings, especially in my case, codecs used algorithm, algorithm. The next important term, codec, or Coder decoder. This is an encoding tool that processes video and stores it in a stream of bytes. Sounds complicated, but in simple terms, codecs use algorithms to effectively shrink the size of the audio or video file and then decompress it when needed. A popular video codec, which maybe you heard of is H.264, for example, MP4. This is not just a file extension, this is actually a video format. A file format, more specifically a container which holds information about the video stream, audio stream, and metadata. An MP4 file can host in H.264 encoded video. Here on the screen you can see a small comparison between them. And the most important here is the last part and before as a file container. While H.264 is actually a video compression codec. Another processing step is rendering. This is the process of turning your edited footage into a ready video file, which we also can call the final render or the rendered file. You could obviously create videos without knowing all the above. You could press record, edit your video, and press render to get a ready MP4 file. But I want you to be completely aware of the things you work on. In the next lecture, I'll talk about resolution. I'm really excited about this lecture because as simple as it sounds, it's a really important step in getting and creating our screen recording and webcam recordings. I can only invite you to the next lecture, and I'll be waiting there sipping mighty and preparing my voice. 8. 03-02. Resolution: Resolution. I will not talk about a New Year's resolution, both computer resolution. You may laugh at me because for many of you, determined screen resolution is absolutely obvious and understandable. So I have been growing up with computers to, I am born 89. So you can imagine having all those old computers like 3-20 resolution or 640 per, for 80. I remember those. However, everything I explained in this course is explained in the context of screen recording and creating your own videos. So I absolutely have to briefly touch on this topic to be a thorough and not leave anything out to chance. Talking technical computer screen resolutions are measured in pixels. In simple terms, screen resolution is the number of pixels that are currently displayed on your screen. The resolution represents the number of pixels on the x and y axis, or horizontally and vertically. Currently, the most used and known resolutions include these ones, 720 P, also called HD, ten ADP, called full HD 1440, which isn't as popular, but it is there. And what's growing in popularity, especially on bigger screens like DV is the 4K resolution. As you probably know, your computer screen or laptop screen has its resolution. You can right-click on your desktop display settings. And over here, you will have the display resolution. If you own a Mac, you can press on the Apple Menu System Preferences, Click on displace, then click display. Then you can select scaled. Then you can select one of the resolution options. If I open disrupt down, it will show me my current and possible resolutions. Since my monitor is capable of displaying this one, this is the native resolution for my monitor, but I cannot go higher, not because my graphics card, because my graphics card would be able to display 4K, but my monitor isn't. I have a 25 inch monitor and this is the maximum native resolution. I can get out of it. So I'm working on it. So everything looks crisp and clear. Why am I making an entire lecture about resolution? Because in context of this course and recording your screen, this is especially important because what you see here, the display resolutions that you see here is the maximum resolution you will be able to record your screen. And of course, for most videos, full HD is completely enough, and this is super high-quality, but I am personally in a position with my monitor to record at a little bit higher resolution so I can have a bit higher quality footage file of the actual recording. There was a possibility that you have an older laptop or a smaller device, like a 13 inch. So you'll most likely have those resolution as a maximum. What that means for you will be explained in the next lecture, where I want to talk a tiny bit about upscaling and down scaling, which is another important topic I have to put here in the beginning of the course. So we know exactly where we stand with those resolutions. 9. 03-03. Upscale Downscale: Upscale and downscale. In this video, I'm going to spare a second on video scaling precisely upscale. And downscale. Upscaling means resizing your smaller resolution footage into a bigger one, which results in artificially creating new pixels. This results in a visible quality loss. For example, if you have a lower resolution recording at 1366 per 768 and you try to upscale it to 1920 per 1080, there will be unnoticeable quality loss boat while editing and what's rendered. Of course, technically you can do it. The video will be displayed as full HD, but the quality will not match an actual full HD high-quality file. It is just as if I would take my webcam here and make it bigger. Yes, of course I can do it, but you can notice I become pixelated and the quality gets lower, the vigor I am, I can do it for fun for some editing. But if I would like to stay on for quality, I need to remain a bit smaller. On the flip side, down scaling means resizing your bigger resolution footage into a smaller one, which will remain sharp because you already had your higher resolution file. There is no problem scaling it down without any quality loss. So the consensus here is simple. This doesn't mean that you are doomed if you have a lower resolution laptop and want to create tutorials. But to maintain the quality of your video, you'll most likely one to produce in 720 P, which is also fine depending on the topic and how much detail is people need to see on their screens what you can do to avoid that, you can consider connecting an external full HD monitor to your laptop. And if your laptops graphic card will be able to handle full HD and display the screen on this monitor. You will be able to record on that connected monitor screen instead of your laptop screen. This is what I've done in the past. I've connected a monitor to my laptop. Since my laptop was very strong record on that monitor and I got super quality files out of it. So upscale and downscale will be something we'll do multiple times when editing our videos. 10. 03-04. 30 vs 60 FPS: Woo, another very juicy topic when it comes to video editing, 30 versus 60 FPS. Fps stands for frames per second. Frame rate means the number of frames in a single second of video. The higher-order frame rate, this smooth or the video. But unless you record gaming videos or need to slow motion your videos, there is a big chance you can stick to 30 FPS. The most common frame rate for online usage is the aforementioned 30 FPS or frame rate. Recording your screen in 30 FPS results in a smooth visual experience for the human eye. Most, if not all, screen recorders can handle it well and you'll be able to capture your screen ad given frame rate. Another bonus is that the actual recorded footage won't grow too large. Also, not all screen recorders are capable of recording 60 FPS. If you record footage of higher intensity like game, you definitely can consider 60 FPS, but remember that the actual footage will be larger and your audience will need a faster internet connection to buffer that video smoothly. You can notice this on YouTube. You don't have the choice between 3060 FPS. If someone uploads a video in 60 FPS, YouTube only processes it that way. Also, not all platforms handle 60 FPS and the videos you upload to those platforms will be processed down into 30 FPS. It's very similar to the down scaling we were explaining before, but this time we use frame rate, not resolution. Youtube can process both 6030 FPS videos, but many online learning platforms stick to 30 FPS. So having a 60 FPS video gives you nothing because the platform will process it down to 30. Anyway. Keep in mind, where do you intend to publish your videos? And later on, when we talk about screener cordless, I'll show you everything you need to know about the frame rate in real end life action. If you understood those topics before watching the lectures, I can only give you a high five, which I still hope you've gained something from watching those lectures. And let's go to the next lecture because I want to move with this topic forward. 11. 04-01. Let us work - Install first program: New day, new section. Prepare yourself for the real work in the upcoming lectures, I want to show you both free, semi free, and paid tools to use to record your screen. A quick side note, the way the programs I showed you look like their color or aversion or the websites they are downloaded from, or even their name. If another company buys them out, may change over time. But in general, they will be available in a similar form. To get us rolling, you need to install your first screen recording program. I will explain the usage of internet lecture. The first program we are going to use is actually a streaming software and not a straight off screen recorder. But the recording functionality of this program is so brilliant that I think honestly, they should market and advertise themselves as a screen recorder as well. Please open up your browser and head over to stream labs.com. I'll go to my laptop now because I have streamed apps already on my main PC. So I will guide you to a new clean installation on my laptop. Okay, here we are on my laptop, stream maps.com. And on the right side you have downloaded. It will work both for Mac and Windows. I simply click on Download and I'll download it on my desktop. Okay, once I'm ready, I'm double-clicking on the installation package. I'm just agreeing getting to next and I'm installing the program. It will ask me if I want to launch the program, I want to ask you to register and what platform do you want to streamline. But since we are not using the streaming capabilities, at least in if you want only to record your screen, you can prescribe on the bottom. It will welcome you if you are already a stream or you can import some scenes that we do not need that click on the Second button, which should say start from beginning. It should automatically detect and wants you to configure your detected webcam. If you have one and you are detected microphone, since I'm recording on an external microphone, I will just leave it. The default one and HD webcam, okay, fine. This is the lambda webcam. You can skip or continue that. I'll continue. It will ask you to edit streaming theme, but you do not need that. Just go skip because we will create a new scene in the next lecture where I want to show you how to exactly capture your screen. Congratulations, At this point you have installed the software and you're completely ready to work. I'll try to change the interface to English and we will be able to continue in the next lecture and record our first screen. 12. 04-02. Free Tool - Streamlabs OBS (Scene): Streaming apps, OBS is so good that I'm using actually Camtasia to record my screen. But I'm using Stream labs to record my camera because Camtasia isn't capable of recording my camera in this high-quality and this frame rate. Okay, that aside, in order to make street lamps work, you need to do two things. You need to set up a scene and you need to adjust some options to set up a new scene. You'll click on this plus sign or you use this, you already have greeted by default, I create a plus sign and I'll call it screen recording because I just want to record my screen, or possibly also a webcam, they're done. I will take it as the first, and this is my screen recording scene. To the scene, you want to add your desktop, your monitor, so you hit on the plus sign. You are not concerned by widgets because widgets are dedicated to swimming, you are concerned about standard. You need to find here, display capture. You could possibly go for window capture, but this would only capture one window on your screen. You can take a look what you have, you're put in reality, you'll use this chapter and possibly video capture device. I'll select dislike capture. It shows me that it captures the primary monitor or secondary monitor. At source. It can be called my screen, for example, at source. And by default it shows me my first monitor because I only have one monitor connected to my PC. I select display one done, and I have my scene setup. You can of course, adjust the size. If you do this by mistake, you make the smaller. Don't worry, you can always rightly here, go to transform and select Fit or stretch to screen. Perfect. We have set up our scene, if you, for example, also on the webcam here going under plus, take the video capture device at source. And it will show you what sources you have. You can see the first problems. It should show here my login webcam, but for some reason it shows my camera as the webcam. Those are normal technical issues. I should reconnect my webcam to place my webcam here. If I want to use my camera, a person at source, I can make myself smaller. And as you can see, this is how I would appear on this scene if we were to record it. Perfect. My scene, a setup. But I actually wanted to only record my screen, but I can at any given point just make my webcam not visible. You have possibly completed now the first step, which is setting up your recording scene and setting up your screen and webcam if you have one, the next step will be a couple of options inside of three labs OBS, let us tackle the options in the next lecture. So we work at one thing at a time. 13. 04-03. Free Tool - Streamlabs OBS (Options): In order to do this, go to the left bottom side where we have settings. And only two things interest you here, output and video. In the Output Settings. I can close them swimming. You will set the path where your recorded file should be. I like my recorded files to be on the desktop so I can sort them into folders right away. So I select desktop, I select the indistinguishable quality, which is a very good quality. Losses would be too high. We don't need losses. This will be an overkill. This is completely fine. Mp4. And as the encoder, if you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you can select this one because this is something that Nvidia develop. If not, you will most likely have by default, set to this. All of those encoders work well. I prefer to use this one because it uses the graphics card and results in a super high-quality file. And this is perfect. We have everything set up. The other options are video, and this is actually what quality will be the actual finished rendered file, that's women UPS is recording as the base canvas. I select my entire monitor, which is the highest resolution, normally here, and output the finished file. I'm selecting this resolution because my camera only captures this resolution. But since I'm not capturing my camera, I'm capturing my screen right now. I will go for the full quality that I have available. The rest are things you already know. Selecting the FBS, you can select 30 or as you can see, stream labs is capable of recording your screen at 60 FPS, which is absolutely amazing, especially for gaming since I'm recording tutorials, explanatory tutorials 30 is completely fine done. And we have all settings ready. And just a small addition. The reason you didn't see my microphone here before is because Camtasia was already using my microphone. So streamed apps obvious, wasn't able to use it. Remember to go to settings, also to audio and select your Desktop Audio to default. So it will record your desktop sound and the Mike auxiliary device to your actual connected microphone. Some technical issues are unavoidable, especially when you can connect multiple devices, like I have here, a webcam or a camera and microphone, possibly another microphone sometimes. And those devices there are chances will not always be recognized properly. Just remember that you can always reset the software, disconnect and connect your microphone and go into the audio settings to set everything up correctly. Your task for this lecture will be of course, to record your screen at least 20 seconds to test it out. If I pressed record, boom. This is the moment it starts to record my screen. Let's say that I would make ten seconds tutorial here. I'm actually recording my screen now boat with Camtasia recorder and which removes OBS. Alright, this would be enough for a 15-second tutorial. I personally record and I have here my footage, my unedited MP4 footage. With this 17 seconds tutorial, as you can see, the resolution is very high. The quality is perfect. I can double-click on it. You can see everything is crisp and clear and this is how you could record a tutorial like that with stream labs OBS. Now it is your turn to record your screen and your first 20 seconds of a video. 14. 04-04. Semi-Free - Bandicam (for Windows): Okay, starting my recording in Camtasia, recording my webcam with three naps, OBS and downloading Vandy camp. I'm really excited because I haven't used bendy camp for a while. But it is a very straightforward program and it semi free. You can go to their website. It is obviously bendy cam.com and you can download Bandcamp. I'll install bendy come just like the previous programs. The reason I still want to show you bend the cam is how simple and straightforward This program is. And video as me again about their encoder. Of course, a very quick touch on Bandcamp settings. In the first box, you select what you actually want to record, which is the entire screen, most likely. Here, you select if you want to display your mouse, user microphone or use your webcam. I want to show my mouse. I wanted to use my microphone, but my microphone is being used by Camtasia, so I cannot duplicate that. But normally, I would select my microphone and press OK. As for the webcam, you can edit here and you can select if you want it to be merged two with the original file, with the original screen recording. Or which is absolutely great. If you want it in a separate file. I wanted in a separate file so I can edit it later. I will maybe select a logarithmic webcam. And I press, okay, this is most of the options you need to press, record and start recording. Before you do this, open up general, and select the output folder of the actual recording. In my case, most often this is desktop, as I've said to you. And I will select Desktop here again. So I have the files right here when I finished my recording. Then going to a video on the bottom side, you can select the video quality of the actual recording and look how amazing this is. Not only can you record your full screen, but in the settings, you can select 3060 and even more FBS. If you have a monitor that supports those refresh rates, you will actually see how smooth the recording would be. And you will be able to record at extremely high frame rates if you want to, for example, slow down new video or slow down your gaming footage. This is perfect. Normally 30 is enough and 64 gaming is perfectly okay. And this is the current standard. But I wanted to show you that Bandcamp has the possibility of higher frame rate. And this is why bendy chemists are great. I've basically set up the entire program in less than two minutes. I can hit record and I am completely ready to start working and recording my screen. Certainly bending them isn't currently available for Mac, but all other recorders look very similar and have very similar options. If you are on a Mac, we have to find other solutions. But if you'd like to practice here on Windows, just click record, record at least ten seconds of video. And what is great here, I am recording both my screen, super high-quality, and my existing camera, my webcam, at the same quality, I will stop the recording and we can very quickly preview the files and the camera in a separate file, which I could now edit into the video. Do not mind my sleepy eyes, it's October and the weather outside is really bad. So you just go ahead and if you can practice recording your screen for at least ten or 20 seconds, used the recorder and you will see each other in next lectures, where we explore more options and possibilities. 15. 04-05. Mac Users: I have to be fair and thorough here towards the Mac users. I can't test this myself because I don't own a Mac device. But from opinions and articles I've read a very good solution can be ScreenFlow. Screenflow is both a simple recorder and video editor, much like Camtasia, but at a lower price point at around $130. The price may of course, vary. This program, as you can see by this button, is exclusive to Mac users. And many tutorial and online course creators do use this software. The second Professional and most likely more difficult solution is Final Cut Pro. I'm sure you've heard about the software. This is more of an equivalent to Adobe Premiere. This program is not for recording your screen. This is mostly for video editing, for advanced video editing, at least from what I've read. So again, you can notice a slight difference in the programs because ScreenFlow might be a one stop solution for you. You would need, of course, to watch a couple of tutorials and read more about it. But those are the programs I certainly know are on the radar of Mac users. This is just a little bonus information. Absolutely. You can use the programs that I've recommended, like Camtasia and others. But if you would like to give those a try, be my guest and I'd be certainly happy to hear about your experience. 16. 04-06. BONUS! Taskbar Control: Free bonus lecture, vow. The reason I'm having this secondary taskbar here is because I am using a program, a very small program called taskbar control. What this little program does, if I press just one shortcut, my taskbar disappears. This is great for screen recording and tutorial on recording. I'm sure there are similar solutions on Mac. And overall, when recording your screen, I recommend hiding your taskbar so you appear more professional. Just for example, I'm very often recording tutorials about PowerPoint since this is the main program that I record my tutorials about and just look at it. I would have this taskbar here. It would always get in the way it looks unprofessional and it changes the aspect ratio of the actual program. I want my program to take up the entire real estate of the monitor. So I have my 16 per nine aspect ratio and I have no problems editing my tutorials. Then once I'm done recording my screen, I just press my shortcut and it is back again. What's great about this program is completely free and it really takes up no space or RAM from your computer. The way I have set it up, I have put this shortcut in my start-up folder, which automatically starts this program as Windows starts, it certainly doesn't have an automated function to start with your system starting, simply put a shortcut here into your startup folder. And Windows will automatically run this program each time your system starts, what's great, you just go to settings and you can set up any hotkey you want. I'm sure there are other programs which do this, but in my case, taskbar control has been great and I've been using it since years. 17. 04-07. Paid Tool - Camtasia: For the sake of explaining Camtasia to you, I'll actually use bandy cam to record my screen. Monday cam will handle both my camera and my screen at the same time with decent frame rates. To get Camtasia, you go to TechSmith.com or you Google Camtasia and it will take you right to displace. Camtasia is available both for Windows and Mac, which is great. And if you do not plan to purchase the full version, you can get a 30-day free trial, which is absolutely amazing. You can download it both for Windows and Mac and simply install it on your PC. Why do I endorse Camtasia, even though it hardly can record at 60 FPS. It cannot capture my gambling because my cabinet to high-quality and it can't handle boat camera and screen recording at the same time. And it develops pretty slowly. Camtasia gets an update each year. So they tried to push the updates slowly in order for you to buy the updated version. Camtasia is both a video editor and a screen recorder, which is absolutely amazing because Camtasia has its own recording format. Let me close now down the microphone. As you see here in my programs, I have TechSmith Camtasia, and I have Camtasia recorder to programs connected into one which have their own ecosystem of files, which are high-quality and take up less space than normal MP4 files. As you can see, it looks like any other recorder. It has a couple of options which I will not explain right now because they aren't very relevant. In order to explain to you how to record your screen, The most important thing you want to see is on the left side, you are selecting the actual canvas would be recorded. You can see if I make it smaller, I can still grab it and I can resize it to my entire screen to record my entire screen. Then I select my camera, my gambling, let me drink on it. I can only select my luggage webcam because the gambling doesn't work with Camtasia. So I can have my my webcam here setup and of course the microphone, but I'm using the microphone already invented them, so I don't want to overlap it. Two, Camtasia, the condition recorder, you hit record and it will automatically start record. You will see a three to one come down because you need to turn that off an options. But I'm recording my screen with Camtasia right now. Once I'm done with my recording, I can open the Camtasia recorder and hit pause or stop. Normally, contagion saves the files in your system. In the documents, I post-op, I have said Camtasia up to show me a screen with the recording. And if I'm satisfied with the recording, I can simply save. And this is the difference between Camtasia and all other programs. Save and edit. Let me press Save. Let's say that I save it on my desktop. Camtasia recording. This is not a normal file like an all other programs. This is a Camtasia recording, dot-dot-dot rec, which is an Camtasia format. And what is amazing. This track file contains all information about both the webcam, the sound, and the actual screen recording. So I can go right into editing. I didn't record my microphone right now, so we don't see an M and a volume here, but I can take my camera. I can edit it because this is like a separate instance of a file. Inside of this trek file, I will tell you more about a video editing later on, but this is how you record your screening Camtasia. And you can edit it, right, your Eigen resize it. I can chop it up into smaller pieces. I can overlap them, I can make them smaller, bigger. I can give animations. And this is quite Camtasia is so great. In a matter of seconds, you can go from recording to editing a pretty good quality video. Once you are done, you breath control P to produce a video, I have Custom Production settings, but you can have default settings like MP4, up to 100 ADP. Go Next, and it will start to render your file right away. I recommend of course, the custom settings. So get acquainted with what actually Camtasia is doing to your file. I select MP4. I do not want to produce with controller because this is for a website usage. I deselect this. You can change the size, you can change the video settings, you can change the frame rate to be 30, maximum amount of 60 because conditions is capable of editing video in 60 FPS with recording it a bit worse. The quality, it doesn't have to be so high. Next, Next, finish. And it's currently rendering my 3D video. So as you can see, it is a boat, a recorder, and a video editing tool, and it doesn't mean you have to use it. I'm currently recording this tutorial with bending them. So it doesn't matter which program you select the record. I want you to be aware of all the programs and select your favorite based on testing, testing, testing. When it comes to screen recording. At this point, we have two solutions. Either we use a webcam or we use a camera with a capture card connected to your PC and acting as a webcam. As far as recommendations GO, I want to explain to you everything to the best of my knowledge, but I absolutely do not want to force you to buy anything or to waste money because I'm not affiliated with any of the companies. When it comes to web cams, I have to recommend logic boat because I'm using two of their cameras. See 615 and the C 19-22 pro HD stream webcam. Those are the same devices which you see here. They only vary because this one can capture 60 FPS at 720. This one is a simpler one which simply captures 1080, but this captures that idea as well. And this one has this little privacy shutter. When it comes to welcomes, logic has the best selection and they have even expensive 4K webcams. But I'm not really recommending this because if you plan to spend more than 200 bucks, you'd really be better off purchasing a camera, or maybe you even have a camera at your home. You can click around on their website. They have a couple of solutions to the devices are very similar and the senior end-to-end has become a standard for webcams. Another endorsement about legit, if you read articles about best webcam or something like that in those articles, probably you'll run into only webcams from logic with maybe a couple of others, like the razor, QIO or Microsoft has their own webcam as well. But mostly logic webcams are recommended. And I can endorse that because they have their own recording tools and they also can change the color and white balance of the cameras with their native software. And next solution is a capture card called the Cambrian, the gambling by El Gato, a company that focuses exclusively on swimming devices and the candling allows you to connect your camera. We have a displayed here. It allows you to connect your camera with an HDMI cable, put it to your computer as a simple USB device. This way your computer should recognize it as a normal webcam, do bear in mind, however, that your camera needs to have a clean HDMI image. And because some cameras are not able to do this, some cameras have information on the screen or even more information, and that's not really a clean image. This would be a clean HDMI image. The other requirement is that your camera has unlimited runtime. Some cameras turn off after 15 minutes, after 30 minutes, depending on your settings. So that's something to bear in mind because here they have a dummy battery connected to my Canon ADD, and it could possibly run the entire day. So this would be a small limitation. But actually on the cabinet website, we find which cameras work and which do not. An alternative solution to the expensive legato gambling, which is about 120 bucks and icy knower them getting cheaper because of the Covitz situation and how the entire swinging market develops. It's really in-demand right now, so they aren't going to be much cheaper. There is, however, an alternative knock off. We just add this capture card. It's much, much cheaper and the display quality seems to be a bit lower from reviews that I saw. And I've actually purchased it. To show you the results in the next lecture, I need to wait a couple of days before chips, but once I have it, I will compare it directly for you between the cabling and this capture guard. This would be the two possible solutions. In the next lecture, I'd like to show you an additional bonus solution. And then we compare the screen from the capture cars. 19. 05-02. Possible Solutions - 3rd Party Software: The bonus solution, the third solution would be using a third party program to capture your cameras display. And actually canon has made a program itself. And this way, you wouldn't even need a gambling or another capture device. You would only need to own a proper camera. And this utility should work and should be able to capture the image from the list of the cameras. I'll test it myself and I shall compare with you the results between the cabling and the software. To run this lecture up, there are other programs and solutions which seem to be able to capture your cameras, display and display it on your PC. In this course, I wanted to show you working plug-and-play solutions, something that is tested out, confirmed and that I know works. After all, you have work to do. You watch this course to learn how to create tutorials, not learn all technical solutions there are in the world. I'd like you to get started as soon as possible. So let's head over to the next lecture where I will compare the quality of the camera itself on the different devices. 20. 05-03. Camlink VS Webcam Utility VS Cheap Capture Card: At first, let us take a look at the Canon EOS webcam utility. I've installed it with my Canon ADD and I had to purchase a special cable which enables data transfer because my camera, I didn't have a cable included. What's important, this cable is only one meter long, but luckily I have a connection, a USB connection on my monitor, so I could hook everything up. As you can see, everything works almost perfect when it comes to the quality. I have no issues at all. I'm recording a full HD quality video. And as you can see on the screen, the video is pretty crisp and this is more than I need. I need you to know that the color set on my camera are set to be very little saturated. I do not want to be captured too bright to visit. I want a very toned down video when it comes to my webcam, the colors and dynamic range is pretty well captured. Maybe there's a slight bump in saturation, but other than that, it looks brilliant. The only downside I could possibly find, I believe the frame rate is a little bit slow, but it's absolutely no problem. Do you need super high frame rates for webcam recording? I think the cable method works pretty well. Let's switch to the next device and see what the results will be. Here we are on the cheap capture card. You can notice the colors are way more saturated. And I have an interesting story. I actually bought two of these. Both are no-name, same same type of cars. They are a tiny bit different and both were working. But once I tried the second one, right now before I was recording this video, it was working at first, but I was way more red. So the colors seem to vary from device to device. There, which oversaturated and color range is a bit lower. But What's interesting, this one got extremely hot and stopped working. And I mean, extremely hard because I actually haven't parameter. I hope this is how it's called in English because I making sometimes pizza and this has 50 degrees behind my PC and stopped working. So definitely some technical issues may arise with this device. But if you get it to work and you get a device that's working, as you can see, I have a super cheap 15 or capture card. Maybe I'm a bit oversaturated and over-exposed right now, but those are the lighting settings I had previously. Sorry, let me turn off the autofocus bracket. I can't say more bad things because this thing is simply working. I could, of course, tuned down the colors and lighting, but I want to keep the same lighting settings and now compare both the solutions to candling. Alright, this is how the candling performs under the same lighting conditions and the same settings. As you can see, the video seems to be the most balanced, the best dynamic range, and the colors are perfectly as I set them up. This may be also because I was tuning my webcam once I bought the candling. So of course they will work together. When it comes to the frame rate with the candling, there's absolutely no problem. I can set it to 30 or 260. It will work perfectly and seamless. So what about all those capture cards? Can I recommend those? Should you buy a cable if you have a cannon device or should you buy accounting, it's completely up to you, in my opinion, when you strive for quality, in the end, some day you will eventually anyway, end up with the camera because it seems to yield the best results and it's plug and play always working. But in the beginning, I'd recommend this cheap capture card. The quality can be almost 90% as good and such a cheap solution would be really awesome. Let us continue because there is a lot more interesting things I wanna show you during this course. 21. 05-04. Use Your Phone! iVCam: Whoo, I'm really blown away by this software. Look at it. I'm using my phone right now as a webcam. Everyone has a phone. So this would be a great solution if you don't have a webcam or a camera purchase, look, this is my normal phone. I could take it out, I can take it anywhere. I can move it around my studio. Of course, there's something hanging. There are litres microphones, everything is here. So I'm putting this back and this software is called IVI can, what's the beauty here? You can either connect it with a cable or wirelessly. I'm using my Internet connection currently to display the phone screen in the software, look at IBM is a software where you download an application on your phone and you download the application on your PC, wirelessly or via USB cable. You can connect both together and it will shoot your phones video as a webcam. What's great about the software? It costs around $10 per year, or you can buy a permanent license, which is 25 bucks, which is pretty okay. Since my personal PC is connected to the internet with a cable, I had to insert my IP into the application. But that's not really a problem. If you need to find your computer's IP, you can go to start. You can type in cmd here to open the command prompt. In the command prompt, press IP config, and just hit enter. And you should have the IP version four of your computer, your current IP to insert into the phone. And look how amazing and how quick that works. It's almost as the candling, Of course, the campaigning. I'm connected with a camera so you can see, you can see my super professional Rick, my phone is literally standing on on a stand. I just put something behind it and it barely, barely, barely falls off. But just look at the quality. I think it's of course it's oversaturated because this is how the phone cameras are. They wanna capture strong color, which I am not the biggest fan of. But if I would be to compare the quality of a logarithmic webcam. I think it's probably the same or even the phone. Obviously, you will start to beat those cameras. So if you have no webcam, absolutely. Give IV a try. Wonderful software, very easy to use. I've just downloaded on my phone and on my PC. Of course, with the free version, there are some restrictions like the watermark, but that's not really a problem. If I would like, I can position myself better. I can get rid of the watermark like this. I can extend myself. And this is how I could use literally my iPhone as a webcam. What's great. We have both a simple application and it acts as a normal webcam. As you can see, I have my gambling my my login webcam. But at any given point, I can switch to the E2 soft IV camp program and my phone will turn back again here. Thank you Vernor for telling me about this. And I hope this can be very helpful to everyone. 22. 05-05. Lighting consideration: I would love to very briefly touch on lighting. It's actually more important to get some light onto you. But the optimal solution would be to have LED lighting to shine on you to make you better visible. Just look at the comparison on the screen between the camera and the webcam. I have actually two LED light setup in my studio and one LED light behind me to light up the green screen. When it comes to real cameras, lenses are so amazing that they could do without lighting, LED lighting from your room. But when it comes to webcams, and if you have a room without any Windows, you will really need additional lighting shining onto you, not above you too. Appear and look professional. Just look at a comparison. What if I turn off my two LED light? The webcam has really troubles adjusting the light when it comes to the camera. Cameras, as I've said, there lenses are so amazing that the image looks still go OK. But if you are using a webcam, you'll really need to consider lighting. You do not need super expensive equipment, but you need to consider lighting. Just look at the difference. If I put on my lights, I will make them even brighter. I will be a little bit overexposed currently here because I've set my lightings to pretty high. But look at that. If I set up my lights properly, the webcam actually starts to look decent on the camera since my settings are set up to have low lighting, I'm a bit overexposed now and everything is too vibrant, too bright, my faces to white because I'm getting the lighting pretty much in my face. But when it comes to the webcam, it makes a tremendous difference having yourself LET properly. If you have any questions, my studio, I will, of course, explaining everything. The thing I want to show you, sorry that I'm simply recording with a phone now. I have one LED light on the left side. I have one LED light on the right side, which act as a key light and as a fill light, which is filling my sight. And I have this quadrant Light Theatre to 60 lying on the ground to light up my green screen. What I like about this quadrotor light, light. I have a remote. I can turn the brightness up and down. And I can turn the color temperature, and I can simply switch it off. I calls have multiple lights connected. I could have the same light setup here and here. Overall point I want to get across here is if you consider proper lighting yourself, even a webcam can look more than decent. There are numerous solutions, and it all depends on your budget. But in general, you can use flat LED panels. Would you can change the brightness off to get optimal lighting for yourself. 23. 05-06. Green Screen: If you've wondered, why is their green screen behind me? This is because this allows me to have a clean background and actually delete the background around him because a regular, normal human has very little to no green color on him unless he has a green shirt, you can remove one color from the video being that green and it will disappear and your video can possibly become a transparent footage file. I show this here on the screen. I'll take my webcam, I'll place it in the middle. I can crop it a little bit. Then I can do something which is called chroma keying. And almost any video editor, or at least any good video editor that wants to call himself. A video editor will have the ability to remove a color from given footage. In this example, I'm using Camtasia. I go to visual effect and there is a visual effect called Remove color. I drag and drop these visual effect. It automatically has some vibrant green preset. And I'm setting the tolerant since my lighting is very good and the green is very well distinguished from me. I can up the tolerance and I can get rid of the green background. You'll notice, if I will slightly overdo it, i will disappear myself. In my case, about 70% is perfect with the default settings. Then I'm setting myself on the bottom side and I look like a streamer editor or whatever you like, you can purchase special cloth which is in green color and hanging behind you. Or professional solutions like this. For example, behind me there's an alligator green skin empty, but this is a pricey solution. So at the beginning, you either roll with your original background. You can work with that as well, or you buy a cheaper version, like cloth or hard paper, which is in green. There are many photographic solutions to do. What the alternative here is. You can make some kind of overlay for yourself. For example, something like I did here. This is one overlay, this is another overlay. I could take this overlay window number to drop it here into Camtasia or any video editing software I have. And I could put this above me to act as a window for me just to look a little bit better. You can see you have some lighting there. Of course I would need to position this better crop this better. I cropped this from this side. Oh, it's not difficult to select me. I would put myself on the right side, then I would revert the previous crop. And this is how I would appear like a streamer or another professional user. Here in the corner, I will quickly grouped is, I'll make this smaller and this is just as good. Do not feel like you have to get a green screen right away. First, you need to practice with lighting, see what's possible, and then you can consider green screen if you feel it will enhance your video. Let me share something else about webcams and then we will proceed forward. 24. 05-07. Bonus - Webcam Placement: A couple of last informations to you about webcam usage, which can absolutely separate you from the crowd, not only for tutorial creation and video creation, but also on your resume and meetings and any professional meeting you might have. If you want to come across different than other people, please do not set up your webcam above your monitor because webcams have their clips. Everyone is setting it up above their monitor. But actually, you can put the camera to decide to have a much more personal approach to the viewer. And this is what I'm doing. This is the reason why I do have my camera on the left side of my eye view. So you can both feel more comfortable and more maybe not intimate. It will appear much different. That would everyone does. Just sits down here, the webcam is above him and tries to talk that way. This won't look professional and you can be ahead of the game because this entire streaming and webcam usage isn't figured out yet, especially in zoom meetings, you'll both draw attention and look more professional in your work environment. And other nice thing about a login webcam. I'm sure other companies have this as well. I have the C19 22 pro stream. It has its own options. All logotype cameras have them. I can actually manually set the color intensity to be, for example, a bit less. The white balance. I can change the white balance, for example, to have a little bit more of a vintage look. I'm overexposed because of the lighting. I'll try to set up my lighting to be a little bit less and you can actually make your webcam look much better. Okay, I'll close the utility. I go back to a recording program and this would be my end result with my webcam, I am opening up to login recorder. Of course, it is not perfect, but I definitely can look different like that. It looks much more approachable and much more like a camera. Those are a couple of tricks that you can absolutely utilized to your advantage to both be a better swimmer, better recorder, and appear more professional in your work environment. 25. 06-01. Example Footage: The goal of this section is to teach you basic video editing on a real life example. I've recorded example footage which I share in the resources. I'm still working on it, but there'll be something like unpack tutorial. You can click on this unpacked tutorial and there will be a footage file which you can use to practice video editing. You can of course, record your own footage since you already know so much about screen recording. But if not, you can absolutely use this footage and there's a to-do list. What you should do with this file. I'll of course, guide you to that in the upcoming tutorials before you start, however, I want to show you what I think is the best free video editing program outer, which is the venture resolve by black magic design. If you do not know black magic design, this is a digital cinema company. They have camera equipment and gear and also provide editing tools. They're politics is that the venture resolve a super powerful video editor is free and you can download and use it to its full potential. Unless you work in a team and need very specific tools to edit real movies, you can absolutely row with the free version, and it's not a cut down free version. It's a real folly functioning version of the program. If you really feel yourself, you can even buy a $30 thousand console to save some time while editing. The program is available for Mac, Windows, Linux, so there should be no compatibility issues. And once you're done with it, please install the software. And in the next lecture, we will actually start our video editing. 26. 06-02. DaVinci Resolve - Basics: Hello. Once you are ready to work and have installed the venture result, please start a program. A typical screen asked you if you want to start a new project. In this case, of course, we want the new one. I just call it example tutorial. And I press on creating this will open this overwhelming program, but absolutely do not be afraid DaVinci Resolve is actually very user-friendly for the amount of things it can do. On the bottom side of the program, you actually have an entire video workflow here. You can import your media. Here, you can cut and edit. Then you possibly follow with visual effects. And so motion graphics, color grading, audio editing, and delivering new video we just rendering at the beginning, let us import the actual media. Go to the first step, which is the Media tab. Now you will need some footage. Either you recorded something on your screen or you will use my example 15 seconds unedited unzipping tutorial. Please take this example for each file and just drag and drop it onto the venture resolve. This file is located on your PC. Da Vinci is founded and we need to take this media and we need to drag and drop it into the actual media folder of da Vinci. Resolve, it will ask you about the frame rate. Of course, let's change it and now we are ready to start working on our project. You can edit videos boat in the cut section and in the edit section. I prefer this edit window. If you don't see your media, please open the media pool by clicking on the left top side here. Take this existing media and place it on the timeline of the Vinge resolve, put it to the very left side, so it starts from the beginning. And this is a typical view any video editing program, if you are completely unfamiliar with this type of programs. This is a video track. This is an audio track where you see the audio and if yours looks different, do not worry. You can adjust it on the left side here, you can adjust that track height, the audio track hide, and how it is displayed. If you do not like the wave form, you can also make it start from the bottom, which is actually pretty convenient. I do prefer this look. And for the video, you can as well get rid of the frames. If you want just to C, one continuous video. Here on the top, you have other options like disabling the actual audio of you. But I do not recommend this, especially for the type of videos. You are going to produce. More important things about the venture resolve. A couple of elements can be displayed here in the effects library. We have video transitions and titles would we can add like for example, texts or for the transitions, cross dissolve with just the absolutely most normal fate in the world. So this is an effect you most likely will be using repeatedly. You can actually adjust this effect as just its length or simply deleted by selecting it and pressing Delete. On the right top site, you have the Inspector, which is also very important because the inspector will display all properties, all things you can change of the currently selected item. Since I text is selected currently. I can see I can change the actual text. I can change the size, the tracking, and all other properties that I can change for the text like shadow and a background. When I click on the video, however, which is connected with the audio, other options, I get video and audio options and I will not explain in detail everything right now. Just remember that the Inspector here on the top right side is very important and you will very often use it. If you plan to use the venture resolve, this would be enough for the first basic lecture. Make sure that you watch the actual tutorial which I recorded so you know what to edit, what to change. And we will now follow the to-do list and we'll try to perform everything on the to-do list together into venturi resolve. 27. 06-03. DaVinci Resolve - Edit: I have my to-do list. And we will start by importing our footage, which is the first, okay, to import footage, I wanna take the raw footage file I've recorded of my screen. I'll put it here in the wintry resolve. It now located it on my computer and I need to drag and drop it into the actual media bin of the venture resolve. Alright, now, this footage is important. What is our next task to perform? Trim. Trim the first clap. Okay, perfect. You can do this either on the cut page or on the edit page. I prefer to do all the video editing on the edit page. I will take this existing clip and I will put it on my timeline. I will click it, bring it to the left. So it starts when the video should start. If yours look different, do not worry. You can adjust everything here in this timeline view options. You can actually switch off the audio view if you do not like the audio view, but I recommend leaving it on. And you can of course, change the size of the actual individual tracks of video and audio, which is pretty awesome. You can of course, do this as well. Here. I have the video track, I have the audio track, and the audio track shows me that these big one must be the clap. I'll press Space to prevent a sound. Welcome. In this short tutorial. I'll just hover my mouse over the video. I'll click and trim down the clap portion. Okay, like that, living a bit of room. So we will know when the tutorial stars, Welcome in this short tutorial, perfect. We've just performed the first task. If you need more room, you can always adjust the spacing. Do not worry about the workspace at all. Everything you see here can be basically adjusted on the fly if you no longer need the media pool, just close that down. I'm still changing the to do list, but this is what we will do. Okay, we've trimmed that clap portion. The next one will be editing out the mistake part. This should be also pretty fun to do for you. But first, I want to briefly overview the entire tutorial. I'll pull this year. I will pull this little circle. You can also press your left old key and move your mouse scroll. You need to preview this part and then decide how much do you cut off older and move it to the side. You can release the click and from the context menu, select copy here. DaVinci Resolve - Zoom: We are going to the most difficult but most fun part of the editing, zooming in our test number four is a zooming in. Make at least one zoom enlargement of an area. How do we perform that? Actually, you want to first select a place. Where do you want to zoom in? Let me scroll down a little bit. I think we went to the site. You can read this part would be nice to zoom into. We have two separate clips, so we need to connect them first, extract and maybe here, highlighting this and then back again to a normal screen. Okay, how to do this? At first, I went to right-click new compound clip and select Create. So I connect both clips. It will be easier for me to enlarge. I select the place where I want to zoom into the screen. It is right about here on the playhead. I go to the inspector video and we have under transform options, zoom and position. There are multiple ways we can do this, for example, by enabling editing and enlarging it. But I actually want to add keyframes. Keyframes represent change over time. If you've never animated in After Effects or programs like that, keyframes will be something new for you, but you will see how amazing keyframes are since keyframe represent change over time. This one keyframe represents 10 values. I'll move my play head just a tiny bit. I will place more key frames and I will change the values. I will actually click on the zoom here. I will enlarge this and on the position. And I will bring the position a little bit to the right side, just so it looks a little better. Now this keyframe represents those values. Now, what happens between those keyframes is assemble animation. If I move my play head, you can see this is how the animation looks like. You can release deadly, beautiful. We have a nice little zoom into our screen. From this point out. We do not have to do much more. We just move to the place where we want to zoom back again. We take this last keyframe, you can simply precisely click on it, press your left old key to duplicate it and duplicate it. Enter the place you want to zoom out. Ok, so we save the previous values. Now we need to go a little bit forward. We need to go to our transform options, add new zoom and position keyframes. The zoom should be back at one. Deposition, should be back at 0. Okay, that's it. DaVinci Resolve - Render: Welcome in this tutorial and one of the last things we need to add it in this video is adding a fade in, fade out and render a ready video. Actually in the venture resolve, fading in and out is super simple because you just hover over a clip and this white icon appears. You can take this white icon, move it forward and it will automatically create a fade. Just look at this. Welcome in this beautiful fade into the view, maybe a bit too long, but this depends on your personal preference. Now fade out. And done. Nothing else to do when it comes to fading. Pretty okay, right, just on a side note, if you want to add some effects or titles here and de Vinci, You can go to effects library. You can go to video transitions or titles. And you can drag and drop text, which you could edit them inside of the inspector. The inspector is super important because everything you have currently selected. Can we edited and changed in the inspector? Alright, that on a side note, you want to move now to the very last box which is delivered. Delivery will allow us to render our ready tutorial ready file. We have a quick preview of what we did here in the timeline, but this is no longer the editing window. This is now the delivery window. And we can click, for example, on YouTube, which will automatically select the regular, normal rendering options for a YouTube video. I'll change the format to MP4. Because I prefer MP4. The resolution will stay at full HD. But you could do a custom resolution. You could even go to Custom and changed every option you want. Let us stay at YouTube and we can simply add to render queue. It will ask us for the name of the new tutorial. I'll go to my desktop and I will call this new tutorial. Alright, and a new job has been posted. You can see I'm recording this tutorial a second time. That's why I had another job. Okay. This is the new job. Start render. And you can wait for your video to render out. And once it is ready, you are done with the first full workflow of a video editor. Look at the to-do list, tried to do as much as possible here. If something doesn't work for you, do not worry. There are tutorials and learning. Video editing software like that would require an entire separate course. But here, I want to give you a glimpse of just the most important features and the most important things you really do often. So you should be able to produce a simple video. I will be honest. Some programs have easier workflows than that. So I'm excited that I can still show you more. There is so much more to learn and I hope you'll stay tuned and let's continue to the next lecture where we will try to repeat this workflow in other programs. 31. 06-06. OpenShot - Editing: It would be unfair of me if in the free programs I'd only show the venture is old. So I want to show you open shot, which is available both for Windows and for Mac and possibly also for Linux. So again, the unpack tutorial and I'm dropping that in. You click on the profiles and you select a lower quality, lower FBS profile, which will be only for the preview purposes. In my case, I will select seven, twenty eight, twenty four FBS because this will give me seamless playback. Alright, I can preview or preheat, perfect, a folder on Windows. Perfect. It seems to play with smoothly. In open shot. What you can do, you can click here, display and show the waveform. This way, we will see the actual sound. If you remember at first we had to delete the first clap. I know it's on the beginning, so I just take this n omega is smaller. It's too bad that this disappears during editing, but this is how open shot operate. It's a free program. So there's not much we can extract or to turn where I'll show you. I can hear my playback is still too slow, so I again, make either the window smaller or I change my preset to totally low-quality preset, something, for example, like this, 720 per five, 86 only for editing purposes. How to unpack a folder on Windows. You can right click on OK. Now everything runs perfectly smooth. I need to change the display again, shall wave form because I want to hear the sound. OpenShot - Finalizing: I know this isn't a perfect detailed guide, but this is how you would work in this program. I know this program isn't perfect, but I just wanted to show you alternative solutions. This is a way simpler program. You can see both by the interface and by the amount of options. If you want to render, you just click on this red button, Export Video. The default formats should be perfectly fine because we have full HD. H.264 is our codec quality, high export video, and it will render a new video for us. This program is very simple, and if you look for the simplest editor, like only a fade in and a little enlargement. It could be something for you. I'm really excited right now because I want to show you other workflows and other programs. And soon we will get to Camtasia and which is in my opinion, the fastest workflow when it comes to video editing. So you will see the competition between all those programs. 33. 07-01. Camtasia - Overview: Okay. Here we are at Camtasia. I'm pretty excited because I wanted to show you this program for a long time in real use. To kick things off, we will as usual do our to-do list. But in this first lecture, I just like to import the actual raw footage and give you a brief overview of the program. I'll drag and drop the file on the timeline so we see what we work with as an old video editing tools. We have the timeline on the bottom and we can of course, extend and made the trek smaller. This is the limitation I'd like to tracks to be even smaller than that. But this is how TechSmith has made it. This is the minimum amount we can get. I press my left control key and I use my scroll wheel. I can come closer and then I can zoom back out with my most will down. You may think, why isn't the screen filled out? Because the footage is full HD. But my project canvas is actually bigger than full HD. If I go here, project settings, you see this is the resolution I have set up my project with. Alright, apply. I can always take this footage n, enlarge it. Or since you are a pro, you know that I am upscaling it right now. The thing about Camtasia is that since this is a pretty simple program, it can be a little bit advanced with animations, but it's pretty simple. So it works really fast. All the different tabs here. But the most important we really use are the transitions, annotations, and behaviors. Behaviors are essentially animations because if I would give a pop-up behavior to this video, this video would pop up. So it's essentially a transition slash animation. Then you have the animations. But what they call animations is actually zooming in and out of the screen. And a couple of other things. In 90% of cases, I either use the custom animation or the zoom and pan, because the zoom and pan is the most amazing feature. But essentially, you can zoom down to any given place you can reposition like we did previously. And you have this little arrow here and this arrow out automatically adjusted. Welcome to give these enemies. And of course the behaviour is now interfering with that's not important. Everything you do to a file, to each video is reflected on the right side, just as you had individual results. The inspector, we have this right side here. It's called properties. We can of course, hide the properties. Personally. I always have properties up. They do not take up so much space. And the properties, we have, the visual properties, which is the scale of the actual video. It's opacity and some other basic things like position. Then we have the actual sound and the sound. We basically have only the gain. So we can make the video louder. This line, which you see here is an order line. And when sound crosses this line, for example, like here we have the club is too loud, it is over the normal levels. We can adjust the gain by moving this up. And the behaviors we added, we can adjust them here. It's a bit inconvenient. It should be made better, but that's for future years, hopefully for a contagion, we can also delete this and there will be no behaviors, only video properties and sound properties because I've deleted the behavior. This would be a very brief and basic overview of Camtasia. And the next lecture, I'd actually like to go into the to-do list. Camtasia - Trimming: I believe all programs should get equal chances. So here we are in Camtasia. I hope you have downloaded and installed it and we can start our practice. Please go into the example, unpack tutorial footage files. Take this unpack tutorial, drag and drop it into Camtasia. It will be added to your library. I will add it here. And it's on my track. Number two, I recommend having a full HD size for the project. And I will change this right now, product settings. I will change it to full HD. Apply, and it is perfect to the size of the video. Now on the to-do list, that thing number two, which we want to do is trim, trim the first clip, pressure left control key and your scroll up to zoom into the video, we can see the first clap is obviously here. So I prefer to keep the line in its original place so I can compare how close the sound comes to the actual normal line. Alright, I'll just hear what I've recorded. You can right-click on this folder and move it to the side. You can release the click and from the Context menu. Select copy here. Okay, I see exactly, this is my mistake part. In other programs, I had to make a cut here, or cut here, or try trimming down the video with Camtasia. Look how simple it is. I've already found my mistake. So I again, select my play head. So we have two separate files on the track. Let's even make it more interesting by right-clicking here and pressing on separate audio and video. Sometimes you use this because you want to edit the video separately. Of course, you do not need the video to be so big. This is so annoying that I can't make this smaller. Alright, let's make the audio track higher. And let's give us a bit more room. Alright, this video is not from this tutorial, so it's irrelevant. I just want to show you how the edit workflow would be. If you want to enlarge an area and Camtasia, you go to animations tab. In theory, you can only use the zoom and pan. You can also consider the custom animation. When it comes to the zoom and pan, it's a very convenient because you can simply shrink down the area you want to enlarge, not moving the play head. You can move the screen because the problem is, if you move your playhead, if I move my play head or just a little bit and move the screen again, you can see two arrows overlapping itself. And if I enlarge it, this basically would create too weird animations. The nice thing about Camtasia is that I can take this arrow. I can move this arrow if I want the animation to be longer. It takes a while to process. And if I want to adjust the animation itself, I can always click here. So the playhead jumps to the exact spot, and now I can change the place and no new arrow would appear because I'm editing the current arrow. I have actually created a movement on this video and a movement on my webcam. Let's preview this. Right-click on this folder and move it to the side to movements one after another, and my camera has disappeared. If I edit my video and I still want my webcam to show always in the same place. I simply take this and I delete the arrow and click on the arrow, and I delete the Arab. Only the video has some movement, but my camera has no movement. This would result in enlarging the screener and move it to the camera. You can immediately on the same place because if you have multiple tracks, an arrow with an animation will be added to each track. It can influence. All right, so now we have plenty of arrows, one after another. I want to delete all of the arrows and I want to show you how it's really done. I'm deleting my camera and I will enlarge in this place. Okay, where do we start? We start approximately here. I enlarge it. I come closer. Okay. Let control scroll wheel. And the boat here. I would like it to zoom back again. What is pretty nice even though we make a cut here, it's still the same video because it is stitched together. It still has the same properties. I only scaled to fit. And it scales back up to 100%. Of course I wouldn't have to do this if I want. I can press on this arrow and I can now focus on this area, for example. So now the animation moves over to this part where I want to scale to fit, to go completely back again. Is it, I'd like you to test it out. It will be a bit inconvenient at the beginning with what you have to do. You have to go to a place. You have to make it smaller. Then you have to move your playhead forward and scaled to fit data. It, that is how you zooms and enlargement in Camtasia. I hope this is all understandable. If you have any questions, let me know and we'll work on this together. 36. 07-04. Camtasia - Render: So what else is remaining, fate and render? When it comes to fade, we can go to transitions. And there is a fate animation. To be honest, I do not use any of those animations because some of them are pretty obsolete. Like the stretch e.g. will welcome. You, most likely will not use those kinds of transitions. You can of course, test them out and preview them. Maybe something fits your style, but I definitely recommend fate. I can drop the fade on the left or right side. Or if you drop it to the middle, it will attach both at the beginning and at the end of the video. If I want to adjust the fate itself, I can extend its duration. Again. We can precisely click on this fade. We can of course, change the transition, but most likely you want to stay with fade this in this short Hollywood. I will show you at the end. It is already added hyper space and the video fades out. Perfect. Now I want to render, let me show you how a ready video can be rendered out within Camtasia. You go to export. We have two ways of exporting the legacy local file and the normal local file. The legacy. This is what we had previously in Camtasia and in my opinion, this is still a much better. Let me show you. I have a couple of templates for myself. You can add and edit those presets. Let me go for custom, just so it shows you the workflow. I'm going to next. Mp4 is fine. Next, I do not want to produce an HTML controllers for the size. I keep it at my full HD size. You can change the size here. For a video settings, I usually either go for 30 or 60 FPS, depending on the video and creating. And for the quality, I tend to stay 70-80% because going higher doesn't give you a lot more quality. And your videos, we'll probably get processed down anyway. Going to next. Next, you can simply render a video. I prefer to render it on my desktop by pressing finished, I could start the render. And this is a beautiful workflow. Camtasia for 2023 and future versions tries to promote this exporting. I don t think this is better because here I need to open the Advanced Settings. I have all the same settings just laid out differently. I can change the dimensions here. I can change the frame rate and quality here, I would go for 80%. And for the audio icon as well, change it here. I don't like this because I don't have my presets yet. I would like to click export, but have my own preset with all the percentage and frameworks already selected. I don't want to click around each time I export. This is why as exporting, I still use the legacy local file. I hope it will be still available or they make this new exporting feature a little better. This is how videos are exported in contagion, they render a pretty fast, so it's a very clean and swift process. Once your template selected, you're going to press Finish and it renders pretty, pretty quick. 37. 07-05. Camtasia - Bonus: I want to show you one bonus thing when it comes to Camtasia, which would practically make you a probe. Apart from the animations and transitions we can find, we have also annotations. Annotations, again, they could be more customizable and they could add more. But this is what we can work with. We have a couple of features here. We can add shapes or we can, for example, at a spotlight as spotlight like this, where only a part of the video is visible. I still prefer if we couldn't zoom in because we have very little control over that. We can only control the intensity and we can make this spotlight bigger. But what's very interesting, we can add those shapes and motion. For example, for a motion, you can see I have iD, favorite, under favorite, I have the tools that are used the most. And for example, this box now only show you. I have added such an animated, but do not mind the enlargement. This little box can be enlarged. The thickness can be the thickness can be, of course different. And we can change the draw time. If you would like to add a shadow. Here you go to visual effects. And I want to show you a couple of key upgrades that I think are positive and the text mid actually works hard on the software to make it better. Here's one of my tutorials, a pretty extensively edited one, as you see by the cuts and zooming and everything. And what is an improvement? The newest version of Camtasia allows you to reduce the size of the tracks. This is very handy because sometimes I have really a lot of groups, elements, and objects that I just wanted to have smaller. This is perfect if I want to enlarge my audio and I need to have everything else smaller. Another upgrade is groups. Currently, if you want to edit a group, if you open the group, it opens in a new window. This is pretty convenient because previously in older versions like 2020, it opened here. The group popped up and essentially it was here on the track. Currently, we can edit everything here within the group and then we can get back and we can edit on our enlarged group here. The last like biggest update and they applied is transitions. In my opinion, currently they added too much of them, but we don't have to use them. Another year has passed and Camtasia 2022 has arrived, has been released. And apart from a couple of new effects like outline edges, spotlight, or for example, this blend mode. There is one important feature that has been added. Look at the mouse here. If I click on the video in my mouth editing options, they added the ability to scale the mouth not to just 500 per cent, but even to 2 thousand per cent. This is a huge upgrade. It remains Christian. If the system mouse is used. Also, they allow now to edit the cursor pad. If you are unsatisfied with how your mouse flies around on the screen, when you explain something, you can, for example, delete a couple of points. This will smooth out the travel of the mouse and you can even alter what you were showing. You can even create a totally custom path for your mouse movement. Either you have something in mind or here I have just a couple of example topics you could use for yourself, like how to make a Google search. Anyone should be able to do a tutorial like that or make a little motivational speech. I'll do this myself. Let's try and see how that goes with selecting a topic. Task number one would be complete. I'm glad you made it here and that you are interested in this topic. When it comes to microphones, you need to differentiate between a USB microphone and an XLR microphone. What is the difference? A USB microphone like the Blue Yeti or the road and T USB or this year. Sure. Microphone is a device which has a built in preamp and with only one USB cable, you connect it to your pc, exactly like you see here on this road. And to USB. You can connect an XLR microphone to a computer, but you will need a preamp, a separate pre-amp. That's the difference between a USB microphone and then XLR microphone. A USB microphone is a plug and play solution to your computer. Would you connect one cable and everything should work unless it gets broken. While with an XLR microphone, you need the device itself. You need an XLR cable, you need an audio interface, and then you need to connect this audio interface with a USB cable to your PC so it can convert the audio signal to a computer readable format. Both solutions have upsides and downsides. For example, a USB microphone, will you most likely only connected to your PC because you need an active USB port to actually connect this device. While an XLR microphone can be connected to her studio, can be connected to a recording device. Depending on what the audio interface actually is capable of. There are many, many different audio interfaces. One little piece of advice I wanted to do still give you. There is something like a lavalier microphone. And lavalier microphone is this little microphone which we see sometimes on videos, which you can connect to a device directly, like your camera, like your phone or your computer. They will help to get rid of echo reverb and absorbed a little bit of the noisy sounds. Since I still wasn't satisfied with the audit quality, I created this recording boot for myself every time I was sitting down to a recording session in my studio, I was hanging those do vase from my ceiling. Check out the difference in the sound with and without the Do phase. This is how my recording sound without any device behind me. I will try to put them on, uncheck the results afterwards. This is the sound quality I get when I Hank do vase above me. I'm checking the sound quality to know what is better. I have now debased behind me. But this is another way to mitigate the reflection sound which goes behind your microphone. Before we end a brief look around my studio, I was gathering equipment and knowledge about acoustics for several years. At this point, I am only using acoustic panels and diffusers. Some of them are self-made, Some of them are purchased. I still could throw a couple of blankets on my desk, but currently I have got rid of most of the reverb around my recording area. A big change was also hanging absorption material from the ceiling so the sound doesn't bounce off above me. You definitely need to check out first the duties and blanket techniques to see the real difference in your recordings. I hope those informations are valuable for you and you'll throw in some blankets on your recording desk. 49. 10-03. You can DIY: When speaking to the microphone, the sound goes true. This random gradient can generate several types of gradients for you. So you just click a couple of times. And if there is a gradient you like, you can simply use it, let's say for a business video, maybe read, alright, perfect, we have orange red gradient. That should be fine to use. I go back to Photoshop. I create a new layer. I go to my Gradient tool here, I can click down and select either the paint bucket or the gradient tool. I have a previously selected radiant, but I want to change the colors. I click on this gradient. I click on color number one. I copy over the color code. I click and I changed the color code because I want to copy this exact gradient. Now the second color, I click on, the second color. I need to click here again. Boom, pasted in. And this is how I would get this gradient into my Photoshop. I could of course use the UI gradients or generate a random gradient here and copy it over. You can see this rule makes this element stand out in the video and this is perfect for Tamil usage. If you are far away, this would be looking really good. Now, you could add some text. I would hold, for example, phone hacks, like ten phone hacks or something like this. I make this smaller and you can have some more fun with the gradient. For example, this is an existing gradient. I pressed Control j to duplicate this layer. And I can see if I maybe can use this gradient, for example, to highlight the text just so the design gets something out of it. I can rotate this L entire element like this. I don't have to be precise here. Let's say that this is my artistic way of creating this dominate. And boom, I would be basically ready with another family. Of course I could use another given for this element. I don't have to use the same gradient. I can right-click, go to its Blending Options, to the gradient overlay and select another gradient. Maybe. Just out of curiosity, you can of course, change the colors. For example, a yellow, a yellow would look perfect as well. I put a yellow here, I put a yellow here. Is this a perfect design? Absolutely not. But I wanted to show you the power of giving a stroke around an element and we're on the main element you are talking about.
