About This Class

Happy to see you here!

I prepared this class with lots of love, as it a very special one. During this class you will learn how to paint the most beautiful part of the day, Sunset. And as it is still summer, I thought that the sunset on the sea will be an interesting theme to paint.

On this class you will learn how to paint with 2 main techniques in watercolors: wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry

In wet-on-wet technique you will learn to apply the main washes.

Clouds during sunset are golden and red, and make the work even more detailed. For this reason, with wet-on-wet technique, you will learn to create a cumulus clouds that look fluffy, and like golden balls in the sky.

In wet-on-dry technique you will learn to apply the last details on the clouds like stronger shadows, and create more volume to the work, playing with light and shadow.

Then with wet-on-dry technique you will learn to paint the sea. Sea in sunset time is also very colorful and not blue, this is because of the reflections of the sky into the sea. What makes the scene from a fairytale.I will show you how to create these reflections with different tricks that the work looks interesting.

And last, you will add details to the work that it look finished and catch up the viewer eye.

So what, will you join into this adventure with my class?

1. Introduction to Sunset on the sea: Hi friends, My name is Ally, my Sketch Illustrator ends. Watercolor is on today's class. I wanted to share with you a beautiful seascape in the sunsets time. I decided to go with something because of beautiful colors of the sunset. We will see that the sounds that we have, a lot of yellow colors, orange or red. Pink colors as well, a lot of wireless colors. We have a beautiful contrast with the shadow and light as well. I said that this work really represents the summer. And a part of this is such a complex work, even if there is almost no details on this work, it is a minimalist work. It is really complex work because of choosing the colors, of mixing up the colors. So it is a really interesting work if you are a beginner and you want to develop more how to mix up colors and specifically on this beautiful time of the day as it is sunset. So let's get started. 2. Supplies: For this class, I will use the watercolor paper boat honk that 300 GSM watercolor pad. The beeper is sticked to the pet. A part of this I will use the watercolors, White Nights, that is expense being brushes. I will use flavor that. I would like to work for wet-in-wet technique. And then for representing the room. Bigger shapes, I will use my little Rubens number six, watercolor paper. It is square. And for the details, I will use my number for the vein cheap synthetic brush. We will need some plain water and as well, we will use a hair dryer. If you have watched any other works of mine. So for the horizontal line, I will represent it with a washi tape. We want to use today. Any pencil or eraser to work, as you will have me if you have all this already is more than enough. 3. How to paint sunset clouds: First thing that's real, create the horizontal line with this. I will take a look of the size of the beat, or I should say Bring it. I decided that I will go nuts. Try it in the middle with the horizontal line. I will make it a little bit over here. So I will make it to stay to have more seed. Painting them. Sky. I wanted to check currently. Okay. Perfect. So we can start with clean water and tweaking the paper. What I liked the most about sausage seascape is that the colors are mixing up gently one to another. The word coax it really bright, lessened into stink. First, what I will do, I will go with cooler colors that we have here and warmer colors we have. On the horizontal line. I take ultramarine mixing up with ruby color and having beautiful violet colors here. I'll take more ultramarine. And even in the 3a1 blue color, to have it cooler here. And go gentle. Little by little. I take more water. Because here we have transitions. I will take some orange colors. Yellow colors as well. I will mix up ruby color, orange with gold color. We have this kind of color. Taking more in the three and adding cooler blues here. I'm not afraid of getting cholera because as far as you know, if working with the wet on wet technique, usually the colors are getting brighter later. And this time I will take another paintbrush that this femur to work more on details. Take this one and I will work with all be colored with in the 3M glue. To make these kinds of I will take more. This step is really important to take more color and less water as we are working on the wet on wet technique. When working on the wet on wet technique, the color looks brighter when it is wet. But once the paper will get, the worker will lose this brightness of this intensity in color. So pay attention to these details. Why we work wet on wet and wet on dry. Because look how beautiful it, the colors are getting wanting to another how those are mixing and creating really beautiful transitions. Now, I'm not taking only really dark colors, but also into cooler colors back, I'm back to my warm colors to intensify those. Here, I have a lot of fruit color I would say that I have here. Scott. And I'm not afraid of adding more color. If you feel that the paper get joint, just to leave it, don't go over. The edges will be really clearly sooner like I have here. I will show you a trick that you can. Actually here we need some just like I think I'm done with my sky. I can proceed. The weird part. 4. How to paint sunset reflection on the sea, part 1: I have tried to work with a hairdryer and now I remove my Washington. Very important that when you remove your washi tape is that your paper is not getting damaged. You are done. You don't take it week. Take a really, really little by little that to assure that it is at the beginning in an original condition. If you have any smaller washi tape, I really advise you to go with smaller washi tape till now, what we will do here on this scene, we will work with some wet on wet technique. But mainly here, I will try to go more with some track how I will do it. Now I wanted to show a really interesting way to represent this whitespace. Here we have the C with the waves. And the waves as far as you see are light violet color, almost white, heterosexual and not white, but at least it is, it has some color. What we could do is that we can go with the 3D blue collar job dimension. I take ruby color. I take less water. Because already. Now, what I do with this mixture that I have here, I remove the excess of water for my from my team niche. So it has already did the car. And what I do, I apply the paint brush like this and create this effect. Let's take All right. This kind of effect on the water. I'm not applying everywhere the color. If the paper has more details on it, like it is wavy. If it is cold pressed, then you will see these lines are the same I will do with this color that I have here. Okay. I will mix it up, remove the excess of water. And I created here. You have to have less water on your brush. And here what I will do because I put too much water. I will take with synthetics paper, I will remove the excess of water, mixes of color. Now taking back these color, I'm going smoothly year. I can work because my paper is dry so I can touch it. If you can attach it yet. I advise you to try your watercolors with hairdryer. I take more violet color here. And by intensifying this horizontal line. I go smoothly here with the waves. I have here, and some here in flat ground. But we'll work on this. That's where we are going closer here, what I will do, I will take more Morrison tron color. Also had burnt sienna. Burnt sienna. And we'll mix it with the three. And I make this shape. So here we have it. This I will take more in the warm blue color. As I said, the color here is coming up. Why? I wanted to intensify. And I take once again Daniel, here, I have L, So let's choose. 5. How to paint sunset reflection on the sea, part 2: So if I you see that it is too much white, you just add more color like I did. Now. I add the color that I choose that I see here on the water. Because we don't have only warm colors. Cool colors too. For the cooler colors, I've mixed up in a row, column with the Rubin. Because it looks really beautiful here. Now with the details, I will add more details with orange. This site, I haven't been too because here will be super dark and I think that I will use sepia for creating this touches. Here, I intensify these darker shape of these. We have clear pay attention that I'm working at the work instantly in several places. I'm not taking the work or side-by-side working only on some of this work is completed and we need to work as a whole. Pay attention that this kind of effect. It is possible only when the brush is almost dried and has only color on it. And you're not painting like this, but I are going like this. Here. I will add more orange colors. Really bright ones. Go. Now what I will take it told me see, yeah. And I will represent here in the background. I take less color, more water. I will also add some blue colors looking to make goodness. We don't have a warmer colors in the background because of perspective. So I will take for this here as well. And we had to pay attention as well. Shapes that we need two things for the shadow. I will take Payne's gray column. The first dark side is here. And then we have some details here. Then I have them beautiful reflections. I want to reserve. And here already I have a shadow on the water. Then we bring it closer here and we see as well interesting small ones. Shadow. I can't work with Docker. Hub will take some Payne's gray CPAs mouth-to-mouth to get done. I will take Payne's gray and see. I took more Payne's gray. I have some dark. I will come back right to here. Even though I have some details here that are so-called dark and small. Bridging hair. I will try my work with the dryer and then I will add some touches. 6. Last details: I want to proceed with my last duchess, and I'll take Payne's gray. I will intensify the color. I will do another. Let me get these super dark. What I have noticed, meanwhile, I was trying to work is that Because I have added here some details, it's made that this horizontal line to go a little bit on another site. So I will take more violet colors. So create this line a little bit higher. Same, I want here to add more warm colors. I will add to ten m red color with a little bit, but here I will add more color. When you want to make something like, I don't know, it is important that your paper to stay true. If at least a smaller side of the paper is so bad. You can make some incidences that you won't likely. One of the people, it is true that the color is not mixing up. It is only increasing the brightness of the work, and that's it. So I think that's now I'm happier with the results. And what I can do oriented toward my name. The work is finished. I think this time I will work with white color to sign my name. Same you could do. I want to take more color? And when I take it like this is more difficult to control. Clinton time you can apply to with jelly. That's it. Thank you for watching. 7.
