1. Introduction : Hi, everyone. So you know
how sometimes you have a small hack or a
small thing that you understand makes
a huge impact, and then you use
it all the time. Just like when you
found out there's a shortcut in your
keyboard, and then Okay. It changes your life.
You use it all the time. Sometimes the small
things have a big impact, even if you don't realize
it in the beginning. So I want to teach you
how to open a PDF file, and then you can modify
it for yourself. So the most two common file
types are JPEG and PDF. So JPEG is when you're
taking a picture, it's a picture format. Let's say you're taking a
picture with your phone. It's going to be saved
usually as a JPEG. But PDF is a different
kind of file. Let's say you have a
presentation and you close it, it's going to be saved in a PDF, which means that
it's usually more for presentations and
forms and contracts, and it's a closed file, which means that you
can't modify it. You can make changes on it. So AVA has a beautiful
thing and it's very useful, that you can open a PDF file, and it will show
you all the layers, and then you can change it. So let's see how we're
going to do that.
2. PDF - part 1: In order to upload a PDF file, there are two options. First of all, you can go
here in the corner to create a design and
then choose down here, import file, and then
we will choose it and browse from our laptop PDF file. So we import it.
Sometimes it takes a little bit of time depends
if it's a big file or not, but then you can
go into projects, and you can see the
file over here. Then the other way
I want to show you. So let's say you do create a design and then you
do a presentation. So I can just open in my
files the PDF that I want, and I'll just drag
it here because when I do upload from
the bar at the side, it's not going to
upload it for me. It's going to be for
videos for pictures, and I found out that when I do upload for a
PDF, it doesn't work. But when I drag it, you see, now I can find it here
and all my projects. So then I can click it and
it's going to be on my file. So the beautiful thing is
that if I wouldn't upload it, I wouldn't be able to touch it. And then now you
see, it's all open. I can change even the colors. I can modify it, I can change, I can add things. So this is amazing. I'm going to show you a
little bit of how I use it, but then everyone can use it for their own ways that they need.
3. PDF part 2: Few things that I use it for, but I'm sure you would find
many more ways to use it. So first of all, you
can shorten the file. Let's say you have a contract, and it's 20 pages, but you only want to send
one page and you don't want the person
you're sending it to to see all the
rest of the content. So you can just
delete all the rest and save it in the specific
one that you need. So modify the size. And the second thing
is the content. So let's say I'm
an event planner, and I'm doing a company
retreat in a hotel. So I want to use the hotel map. And put the things that
are important to me, and I want to also add my logo, and I just want to change it. So let's say we have this map. And then I can do
Gia, vacation, map. Well, you're going to
do better than that. It's just something that
I did it on the spot. So I don't want all
of this content. I can just instead of this, honestly, I can just
do a small schedule, let's say, Sunday, pool
and dinner at the beach. And then I would do
the number five. And then afterwards, they
can see that five and six, for instance, and
then they would see that the number six is
going to be the pool, and number five is
going to be the dinner. I'm just doing it randomly. It's not really what
they're showing here, but I just wanted to show
you the ways to do that. So also, I'm just going
to go into my brand. And my logo. And obviously, I want to add also my
company logo that I have created in Canava so I
can just add it here. And just change it, and then I can use
the colors from my brand color instead of using the colors that
the hotel use it. So then it's going to be much
more in my brand colors. So another thing that we can do, I'm just going to
show you let's do a location in graphics. And then let's say you want to highlight something special, and then you can just add this. Let's say, we're going
to do it yellow, so it's going to really pop out. And then you can add something more and just
put a number there and add more things that
maybe you created a special event in this location that it's
not a part of the hotel, and you want to mention it. So this is just something
that is useful. You can also add, let's say, the production phone number,
just important information. And then you can use
it for yourself. I'm just going to do this, like in my brand colors
as new that I like. And then, well, it
doesn't look good, but I just wanted you to
understand how to use it. And then when you download it, so you're going to do download, and then you will
do it as a PDF, either print or standard. So this is very useful, and I'm going to show
you another example. Okay, so I want to show you a different kind of PDF
that I am going to change. So, I uploaded PDF files
as an event planner. I did a company
retreated in Thailand. So this is a menu that was
sent to me from a restaurant. If you're going to Thailand,
go to Blue Elephant. It's really good, a little
bit spicy, but excellent. So, They offered me
different variations of close menu in a private
room for my company. So at this point, I
chose one of the menus, and I want to send to my client only the
one that I chose, and I don't want to
set it with the price, and I want to make some
tweaks and changes. So let's close this and I'm
just going to make it bigger. So basically, we
have here one, two, three, four, five, six,
different options. So let's say I want to
choose the first one. So I'm just going to
delete delete delete all the rest and I'm going to
stay with my chosen menu. And then also I don't want
them to see the price, so I'm just going
to delete that. And another thing that you
need to see is you can see here that some things
didn't transfer correctly. So maybe because
it's from Thailand. So let's see what we
have in the original, and then you need
to make sure that it looks good before
you close it. So Okay. Now I see the things that didn't move quite right is the
flop floppy things, This is something that
you need to realize. Usually, it's fine
because most of the PDF files have only words, but just make sure about it. Let's say I want the background
in one of my colors, so you can see that
you can change that. Also, always you can
put brand and add your logo as I show you every time we love to
put our logo there. Then just go over everything and make
sure that looks nice. But the beautiful thing
is that I can play with every single thing
here. I can change it. I can make this one one long
sentence instead of two. We just have many, many options. This is just one that I used. I'm showing you,
but you understood. So this is super useful.
4. The difference between PDF standard & PDF print: That I want to show you about PDF and how to download
in different PDF types. So when you go to Canva, let's say you do download, and then you can see that you have two different types of PDF. You have PDF standard, and you have PDF prints. So what are the difference
between the two? PDF standard is
lower quality that is better for sending
and sharing PDF files. And when you save
it as PDF print, it's just going to be
in higher quality. And then it's going to come out better if you
want to print it. So this is important for you
to know which one to save. Once you're done
modifying everything. And again, even if you finished this and
you did your changes, you can also save
it as JPEG or PNG. So whatever works for you, but now you know your options.
5. Your Project: Hi, everyone. So your assignment
is to upload a PDF file, make your own
tweaks and changes, do your edit and put your
personal touch inside, and then upload two versions, the original one and the one that you modified and
made as your own. So I'm waiting to see
