1. Welcome: Hello, everyone, and welcome to kating glitter textures into the we photo shop. In this course, I'm going to God user. The step by step process of committing a serious of litter textures and sparkle brushes the record in Adobe Photo Shop. We will learn how to create glitter textures using Photoshopped filters in layer styles, personalize them with the use of effects, layer and custom rushes. And finally, we will apply them to both text and the court of graphics. By the end of this class, you will have mastered three different techniques for creating digital glitter Texas and you will have created a series of custom rushes. You be able to integrate in your own designs graphics, text, art and so much more as a walking three or process. No previous experience is required, so let's get started. 2. Base Texture - Method One: in this video, we're going to create glitter textures in gold, rose, gold and silver using three different techniques. The first thing we're going to do is to create a new document. It looks good file and you. Let's make the size of the document of 1000 by 1000 pixels with a resolution of three under . Db I to make sure that we have an image that's good quality enough for both Web and printing. And let's click rate. If you're not familiar with photo shop in your your eye looks different than mine. You can change it in the top corner of the skin by selecting painting from the drop down menu. Now we can create our first sector, which will be in gold. The technique we're going to use now is my personal favorite, because it's really fast, easy and its would love is greater control over the colors of the fun delicacy of texture. So let's create a new layer by clicking on the nuclear at con. Open up to color, pick your menu by double click in the foreground color square In the color menu, you can pick your own golden yellow color or if you want to use the same color as I am using, you can type the X code here in this box. I've also prepared a color catalog with hex codes for gold, copper, rose, gold and silver you can use this is the reference secured the perfect Lichter to match your project. In this case, I'm going to be uses in the bright gold color from the Scotch. A look. Ex goats are great for noting them colors for your projects and communicate them with others as they work. Has coordinates on a map, and they're very easy to input. Most software's like we just did here. Let's do the same thing for the background color, but this time we're gonna choose 100% white. This step is really important because when we start adding filters, photo shop will be simply in the color to add affixed to the image. No, let's craft a bucket. Fill two from the left menu or by clicking G on our keyboard and cook to fill. Then you layer open the filter gallery but never get into filter and filter gallery. He ever want to select the filter Cold grain, which is under the texture job done this menu we can set the intensity to around 60 on. Do we can keep the Contras as it is to around 50. Leslie. Let's make sure the green type is set to this Sprinkles. If a zoom in now you can see the white from the backroom color was used to create sprinkling effect. It's important to keep the background very light. Was all those little white dots will create the highlights for good, her texture in the next step. So let's go back to the filter menu, and this time we're going to go to fix a late and crystallize. You can set the size of the crystal according to how big or small you want your individual closer to be. For me, floor is about the right size for creating a final to effect, which is what I'm going for. For it is example that's click OK now that the base for tech stories made. All we have to do is duplicate it the scripted layer and drag it to the new layer icon here to create a copy, and we will want to rotate it by 90 degrees so well, selecting the new layer control T on windows or command T on a Mac. Click the image and select Rotate 90 degrees and click enter to apply. Now we can set this layer to the multiply blending mode from truck Term and you hear didn't let your panel. We need to repeat this process two more times, so let's copy the layer as we did before, but dragging it to the new layer, I come not irritated again. 90 degrees. I copied the layer again for one last time. It has them in here. You can see that the multiply blending mode has helped creating lots of darker dots, which help Kate depth to our image. While the white dots have stayed broke to Kate in the highlight effect, let's merge oldest layers into one by selecting all of them for holding shift and right click to see left merge layers and the first dexterous finished Let's move onto the next color 3. Base Texture - Method Two: in this video, I'm going to show you how to make a little with a slightly different technique. This time, we're going to use the noise filter. This technique is very good for a coarser or darker glitter effect, as the noise will add lots of very dark speckles in the image. So let's continue layer by clicking on the nuclear back on. Open up to color. Pick your menu by double clicking the foreground color square and pick the color for a glitter. This time I'm going to use a rose, gold or copper color press G to grab the color bucket, too, and click to fill the canvas. Now that we have our base color in place, less navigate to filter noise and that noise for denies settings, make sure that the Guzan and monochromatic checked. And for the amount I'd like to use anywhere between 50 and 60% that's click OK now let's add to cluster is filter like we did for gold texture but navigating to filter, pixel ate and cursed allies. Let's make a copy of this layer and rotated oppressing control T on windows or command T an iMac. The wreck. Click it to select, rotate 90 degrees clockwise to add some contested image. Let's set this blending mode to multiply. Finally, and let's copy this later again and changed the money mode from multiply took probably dislocates, a nice highlight effect on a record. Their texture, as you can see, the colors that are a bit different from our initial car choice, but you said, still given us a nice contrast effect. 4. Base Texture - Method Three: for a friend of textures. We're going to explore the third and final technique, and this time we will be using a pattern to create the base texture. Let's create a new layer by clicking on the new layer icon at the bottom of the layer panel . That's press shift at five to open up the film menu in the film menu in the contents dropped down, you will want to pick pattern. The pattern that we want to use is a partner in which comes with photo shop, but it want to be automatically showing up in the default pattern list to bring it up. We need to click on this little arrow next to the pattern icon and find texture Phil to pattern set. When this window pops up, make sure to click upend. This will add the pattern to your existing patterns, and it will not overrode or delete anything that is already there. The pattern we need is the very last one on this list right here. So let's select it on. Let's click OK, no sense. This is a pretty small pattern. We can see some of the repeat lines, which are not very pretty but it's OK because they're very easy to remove. Let's electrical stump, too, but pressing s under keyboard. If you have already watched my previous class on how to make seamless marble textures, you will be very familiar with this to in a few words. It is used to copy pixels and paint them on to a different area off the image to tell photo shop where we want to start copying just all to click on windows or option. Click on Mac in the middle off the image. Make sure you don't sample to close to decides, or you will end up copying the edge of the image, which will Kate unwanted lines in the middle for textures. For painting. I'm using simple, harder on brush, which comes standard before to shop, with the capacity set to 100% and I can just loosely pain toe until the pattern lions disappear. Okay, this looks pretty good, so let's move on and make a copy off this layer, and then we want to rotate it by pressing control T on windows or command Teavana Mac right . Click it and select rotate 90 degrees, said the Bundy mode to multiply like we did before, and this will carried the darker shades of glitter to add some depth to her texture. Not deserve base is complete. We want to add a little bit more of a silver color souther as a nutter. Warmer, great own. So what I want to do now is to create a new layer. Go to the color picker to and let's choose a warmer, great own. This one looks good. We want to feel the layer we have just created with this great color and set it blending mode to color. I'm quite happy with this, but let's make it a little bit warmer. Let's go back to the color picker to on Let's make the grade just a little bit more saturated. Fill it again and that looks much better. I'm quite happy with this now, so let's grab all the layers by selecting them. Were holding shift on, let's right, click on them and choose Merge layers and we're done 5. Ombre Glitter: in this video, I want to show you really quickly how you can add the number or get in effect to your gutter. Creating a fatal wise omer effect is really simple. All we have to do is scared to new layer and at the white radiant on top. If you can't see the greeting tool in your menu, you can click and hold of the paint pocket two. And a fly out menu should appear where we can pick the great in tow. Let's select why it is there for your color and choose the linear ingredient here at the top menu. This will help us apply degraded in nice straight transition and from the good and drop down menu right here. We need to pick the second option. This will make our foreground color fade into transparency. Now I'm going to zoom out a little bit on pressing shift. I'm going to click and drug ingredient towards where I wanted to fade into glitter. Click and drug a couple of times toe applied ingredient until we get the affected we need. I'm happy with this. Grady, in some going to select the two layers for old and shift and right click, didn't merge layers 6. Glitter Gradients: color ingredients are also really simple and followed the same principle. Let's say that we want to structure to be pink at the top. First, let's create a new layer. That's which its funding more to color. Then let's be called. We want to use very saturated color. Tend to work best for this. Make sure linear Gruden is still select other top. And let's click and drag from the area. We want the color to be. As you can see, we can get a very nice smooth color transition on our texter. We can also make some more complex effects using the Great into. For example, we can pick this blue and orange one. We can apply. It is always it is, or we can click on the gate agent imagery here. This will open up the creating menu. I'm not a big fan of the blue looks, so let's change it to maybe a nice magenta color. We can add as many colors as we want. Just pick clicking onto the radiant. I convinced them around where we want them to be, relate them just by clicking and dragging them away from the brilliant. Once we have the prudent that we like. We can click OK if we click and drag a liquid it before. As you can see, we can get some really nice, complex gedeon effects while maintaining the glitter texture under T. 7. Sparkle Brushes: Now that we have made a few different styles of glitter, it's time to make it more interesting. By adding sunshine and sparkles, you can find the image that will be using in this feed you in the class project page. I have cases a few different shapes for you to choose from and play with. For this project, we're now I'm going to just pick the 1st 1 you can right click it and choose save us and choose a place to save it on your computer. Once you have saved that, you can find it on your computer and right click to select open with four shop. I have an open right here, and I'm going to add a white layer underneath so you can see a little bit better what I'm doing. Okay, we already have the shape for her sparkle, but it's a bit too sharp. So what we want to do now is to blur it slightly, to give it more. They appear and said it's glowing. To do this, we can go to filter in the top menu and choose go simpler and we want to keep the blur intensity to about 5% which should make our star look more like it's shiny and less like a flat graphic That's click cookie, and we're now ready to turn our image into a custom brush. Now they're waiting. The custom brushes are created in for the shop is that anything which is pure black will be 100% capacity in the brush and the lighter it becomes dimmers see through it will be, which also means that any white area will be completely ignored for making the brush to care the brush itself. Let's go to edit, stop in you and defined brush preset. I'm going to call it sparkle one and click OK. Our new brush, you know, appear at the bottom of the brush panel. He can't see your brush panel. You can open it up by never getting to window and choosing brushes from the drop down menu . Now that we have our sparkle brush, we can use it as it is as a stump brush, which means that we only need to click wants to make the shape appear. This is really good. If you want to just add sparkles very precisely in specific places like this, or we can also use it to create a scatter brush, which is great if you want to add a bit of random and natural looking effects. To do this, let's open burst settings. We can do this by pressing F five on the keyboard, or we can also get there by never getting to window on brush settings. There is so much to can be said about this menu and all its setting, and there will be a full in depth classic about creating custom brushes on this channel soon. But it's my already be available, depending on when you watch this video. But for now, I'm just going to take you through how to make a simple scatter brush on the left. Here we have a serious of menus which contain different settings for various aspect of her brush, which we can set up here on the right of this window. Well, all the changes we make on the brush will show up in this preview window at the bomb. Right now, in the people we can see, there are sparkles are about clumped up together, creating a straight line. We don't want this. So the first thing we're going to do is right here in the brush tip shape menu. Um, we want to set the spacing toe around 95% right here, and we can see it know that our sparkle shapes is nicely spread out, but they're still going in a straight line on. We want them to be a bit more spread out. Let's stick on scattering menu right here on the left on. Let's move the scatters later until we see the effect that we like in the preview. For me, around 450% looks good. In this case, you're setting numbers might look different in mind, depending on the size of the brush. Did you started with so always looked at the preview to make sure you're getting the effects Did you need? In my case, I really like the results so far, but I think it would be even better if the Sparkles had a bit more variety in both size and direction. Just to make it a little bit more natural. This is easily done. How we need to do is stick the shape dynamics box on under the size jitters lighter. Let's go to about 50% at some randomness to the sparkle size and for the direction, let's add some angle. Jitter. About 40% looks good. Now let's save the brush. Don't forget this step because Photoshopped reset all the brushes settings if you pick another brush or click on the original once again. So let's go to brush menu and click the new I can't right here. I'm going to name its sparkle Brush to on Click OK, now we can go back and at some shine to the glitter textures for meat earlier, or we can give them for the final touches later. 8. Your Project - Applying Glitter: all right. Now that we have all over textures and Russians ready, we can finally start to plan them to our designs. If you want to follow along with me, I have include the PST that I will be using for this class. Brought it. You can download it on the class project page and feel free to use it for your own cost project as well. And this PST we can find a choose background folder he near. There's a few thin layers with a paint stroke traffic in different colors. You can turn them on and off by clicking on that I could. Next it a layer name right here. My local will be in gold, so I'm going to pick it pink. Want to compliment it? I'm also going to lower the opacity a bit, too, just to make it a little bit more subtle in here. We also have the truce graphic folder, this folder as a few decorative elements you can choose from for my logo. I want to use the brief, and finally we have to text layers. Fun will be for imaginary Brenes name and other one for descriptions. Our goal for a project now is determined that the curative graphic and the text layer into glitter. So let's bring in one of the textures that we're prepared earlier. I still have two PSC open so I can just switch. BST is right here at the top. Click the layered, which has the texture that I want to use and press control A on windows and command a on Mac to select a layer. And then we can copy it by pressing control or command. See now we can switch back to approach a PSD and use control or command Pete paste. You can also import J pegs just by clicking and dragging them onto your project or by right clicking them and see open with sort of shop. Okay, As you can see, our text is a bit too small. So what I want to do is to grab the move to select the layer with their texture. Andi cook and drug it older way to the left, and I also want to make a copy of it to cover the rest of the image. So let's click it by old in salt and drag it towards the right. Let's march them together to create one singular texture by selecting them both together and then clicking Control. Eat two merged on them. Let's also the placate up, since we will be using one off them for text and the other one for graphics outside the top texture. For now, make sure that the texture layer is on top of the graphic layer so that we can apply a clipping mask. A cup in mosque is a really useful to it makes this so that the image on the linked layer at the top will only be visible on the areas which have pixels or type on the bottom layer . So in this case, if way old click between the texture and the text layer, you can see that now the glitter texture only appears on top of the text. No, let's open our graphics folder unless kept the texture copy that we made before and put it right on top off the graphics folder. That's all too quick between the layer again to create a clipping mosque. And because the texture is in top of the folder, this allows us to switch on and off all the different graphics and see them with a texture glitter on top. This is because the clipping mask who is affecting the whole folder and everything that's in it. This is really useful if you want to see how the texture looks like on different graphics and before you choose for your project. So I'm going to choose a couple of graphics that I think look good together and move wanted Next step. We could live this as it is, and it looks really nice already. But I like to give my culture. Let's a bit of death, so I'm going to march just two layers together and apply. It is like drop shadow. If we had to drop shadows before merging the layers, the cooked, their texture will actually show up on the pixels of the shadow itself, and we don't want that to happen. So before you move onto this step, we will need to rest arise type, which will make it so it will not be edit herbal anymore, so make sure you save and check for spelling mistakes before moving on to the next step, so that's select the two layers and right click them to select merged layers. Now let's click onto the effect icon at the bottom of the layer panel and pick drop shadow . I'm going to add just a little bit enough to give the glitter a slight DD effect. You can use this in setting, as I am using here. Or if you're using a different document size, you might have to tweak them to make them work with your image. This looks pretty good for me, so I'm going to click. OK, Emma one. I'm going to show you how to apply the eggs NCM effect to the graphics layer. Easy way to do this is to right click the text layer. Select copy layer style. No, let's select our graphics layer on great click it to select pastes layer style. This is a really easy way to apply the same style to different parts of the image. Her look is almost finished. The last thing we need to do is start some final touches. That's Kate, a new layer on top of everything by clicking the new layer icon at the bottom of the skin. Let's go to the brush panel and select the sparkle brush that we've made earlier, and let's have a couple of sparkles I liked about sparkles and other random elements in groups of three. Because if to me it feels more natural, for example, I cannot a big sparkle here with a small one fairly close to it and the medium size one a bit floated away. And I'm gonna keep doing this over it. Our image and Bergen, our logo looks good. Always left to do now is to save it as a J. Peck, and it's ready to be posted on your cost project. 9. Thank You: for your project, you can use the template provided into download section off this course or create your own design. Your project should shook his.
