About This Class

Hi everyone!

In this class, I'm gonna show you how to make magnetic calendar for your kids with Cricut machine.

I paste the dates on wooden circle, attach magnetic tape on the back of it, and my kids can set up the dates, the months and the days all by her self. It's also a good learning activity for younger kids who just learn numbers.

the calendar SVG file will be provided, you can download it when you join this class. I put each design elements in different layer, so it will be easier for you to arrange in Cricut Design Space.

you will need :

- Cricut machine (or other cutting machine)

- vinyl (removable vinyl, permanent vinly, adhesive foil)

- transfer tape

- magnetic tape : link here

- metal disc (diameter 3cm) : link here

- weeding tool

- scraper

- scissors

- Cricut mat (I use standard grip mat)

- wooden circle (diameter 3.5cm) : link here

- wooden rectangle (smaller size : 9cm x 3cm, bigger size : 14cm x 3cm) : I've go this customised, but you can use acrylic here or cut out from cardboard / chipboard

- clear acrylic (A3 size) : link here

*please take note that the wooden circle (for dates) and wooden rectangle (for months and days)  size depends on how big you want your calendar to be.

1. Introduction: Hello everyone. I'm E far from hanacrochetdesign. In this lesson, I'm going to share with you how to make these calendar. I made this kind of for my girl, she has for years old and she just learn about number at school. So at the server, at my girls school, the teacher handy is Interactive Calendar. It is made of cut stock. And every morning the students can come and set up the calendar. So it is a very good idea for kids to learn about numbers as well as days and months. When I make this, I want something more durable. So I purchased this wooden rectangle for the calendar template. I purchased this a3 equity. In this class. I'm gonna share with you step-by-step to make this calendar. I'll share with you to cutting machine that I used to cut out all the design elements and also the vinyl material for the dates and the days, and also the design elements in the calendar. I will provide the calendar template in SVG file. I put each elements in separate layer so it will be easier for you to rearrange the template, for example, you want to personalize it for gift. The file is also available in my Cricut Design Space. I will provide the link in the class description. And I will also share with you how I transfer that cut out vinyl onto the acrylic surveys. I will also share with you all the tools and materials that I need to make this calendar, such as weeding tool, the metal days as well as magnetic strips. I use magnetic strip so my girls can easily set up the dates on her own. Right? If you have cutting machine at home and you're interested to make this calendar for your children, checkout my class and let's make together 2. Lesson 1 : Tools and materials: In this lesson, I'm going to share with you all the tools and materials that you're going to need to make this calendar. You're going to need cricket machine to cut out all the design elements I'm using quick at Maker tree. But this project is also suitable for cricket joy, as well as Creek up Explorer. For the base of the calendar. I'm using this clear acrylic in A3 size, as you can see in the picture, I've got my acrylic and drift, but I will provide the calendar template in SVG file and you can cut this out on vinyl. I'm using standard grip math for this project. Photometric. You can use any type of vinyl in any color. For me, I'm using this premium vinyl removable met in black color for the month. And also the taste. I'm using this ping mad at VC foil for the dates and also for the flower elements, stars, Elman, the girl image, and also other tasks in the calendar. I'm using this shiny adhesive foil. You will also need to transport tape to transfer your final design. I'm using this scraper tool to burnish my vinyl. A weeding tool to remove the unwanted part of your design. Magnetic tape for your dates and months. A 3.5 centimeter wouldn't circle for the dates, wouldn't rectangle for the months and also the days. The size of circle and wouldn't rectangle depends on how big your calendar is. So later on in Africa, design space, when you set up the file, make sure that the rectangle and the circle template fit the calendar template. I also purchased this metal. This, it is three centimeter in diameter. It comes with adhesive so you can easily attach onto the acrylic surveys. If you can find this method is you can use magnetic tape. I feel that this methyl D is, will look nicer rather than the magnetic tape on your calendar. I will also provide this calendar in SVG file. All the signs element in it are in a separate layer. So you have separate layer for the stars, for the flower separately or for the girl image. So it will be easier for you to set up. That's all for the tools and materials. In the next lesson, I'm going to share with you how to upload the file onto the cricket design space. And we're going to cut all the design elements one by one. 3. Lesson 2 : How to cut with Cricut machine: In this lesson, I'm gonna show you how I cut out the girl image using my Cricut cutting machine. I'm on Cricut Design Space and I have created new canvas. I'm going to upload the calendar file onto this canvas, hit the Upload button and then go to Upload image, select the calendar SVG file. And we're going to upload this onto the canvas. You'll be able to download these SVG file on my Skillshare page. Hit Upload and then choose the file yet you just upload it and add to Canvas. I have separate all the almonds layers. So you will see the girls in a separate layer and then you'll see the template in a different layer, the dates in a different layer. The circles template is also in a different layer. I'm gonna start be the girl. So I'm gonna select the layer and I'm gonna move it out of my Design. And I'm gonna hide the rest of the elements, grouped them together, and click icon underwrite to hide that specific layer. Go to the right top corner and hit make it. I'm going to use the D 0.5 by 30.5 CM mat. Go to the right bottom and click Continue. Choose your material. I use premium vinyl, removable mat. Choose default for the pressure. We are ready for cutting. I'll be using this standard grip mat. And for the material I choose this removable vinyl. Load the mat in Cricut machine, and then you just follow the steps from the Cricut Design Space and you're ready for cutting. Once you're done with a Kathleen, unload the mat and remove the vinyl from the mat. Then with the unwanted part that you don't want from your Design. I have my Cricut transfer tape here and I'm going to cut it as big as my design. Make sure that transfer tape cover the entire design. I'm gonna run through my scraper on top of the transfer tape and I'm gonna press it for me to make sure that there's no bubble. Make sure that vinyl Design stick properly onto the transfer tape, removed the final liner away from the transfer tape. And I'm gonna place it on the top-left of my atria acrylic. With my scraper, I'm make sure that the vinyl stick properly onto the acrylic surveys and make sure there's no bubble. And slowly remove the transfer tape off of your vinyl Design. You can also use this shiny adhesive foil for the girl Design. I think it will look good to. The next lesson. I'm gonna show you how to cut out the stars and flower elements, as well as the dates 4. Lesson 3 : How to cut the months and days: Now I'm gonna show you how to cut out the days and also the month. I'm on Cricut Design Space. And these are all the elements that we're going to cut out. If you want to use cut stock Arctic cardboard for the rectangle. I have prepared the file for you and I put it in a separate layer so it will be easier for you to arrange since I'm gonna use the wooden rectangle, so I'm gonna hide this layer. Then I'm going to attach all the tax here and hit make it. And this is how it looks like on a cutting mat. Click Continue. Select the material. I'm gonna use this premium vinyl removable mat. For the pressure. I'll just stick to default. So I'll be using this premium vinyl removable. I'm gonna use black color. Load the mat and you can start the cutting process. Let's your finished with the cutting, unload the math and I'm going to remove the unwanted fat. I customize this wooden rectangle. Alternatively, you can use ticket stop or chip board for the wooden rectangle. The transfer the vinyl onto the wooden rectangle. I'm using transfer tape. You're saying that transfer tape to transplant a tax. And I'm going to place this on top of the wooden rectangle. In the next lesson, I'm gonna share with you how to assemble these calendar altogether 5. Lesson 4 : How to cut the stars and flowers: In this lesson, I'm gonna share with you how I cut out the stars elements as well as the tax below. Yesterday was, today is, and tomorrow is. I will use this shiny adhesive foil for both elements. Let's go back to Cricut Design Space again, select the layer that we just hide earlier. On, heighten, ungroup them. Now, I'm going to cut out the stars and also the texts below. The Yesterday was today is tomorrow is I'm gonna take out all that to the side. I will also put all the stars element to the side. And I have cut out these girls. I'm gonna remove it. Select the rest of the elements that you don't want to cut it yet, grouped them together and hide it. For the stars element and the texts, I'm just going to put them all together as close as possible because we don't want to waste the final. Select them altogether and click attach. Go to the right top corner and hit make it. I'm using 30.5 by 3.5cm mat. And then click Continue. On the next page, we're gonna use the base material, which is the adhesive foil. And just default for the pressure. And to prevent the material from cutting up during the cutting process, I will just put this masking tape at the four corner of the EPC file. Once you're done with a cutting, I'm just going to with all the unwanted part of my design plays the transfer tape on top of your final and peel the vinyl liner away from the transfer tape. With a scraper. I made sure that the final stick properly onto the acrylic surveys so it will be easier for us to peel off later. Next, we're going to cut out the numbers for the dates, as well as the flower elements in the design. Let's go back to Cricut Design Space. We have cut out these stars elements so you can remove it. I'm going to ungroup this layer so we can pick out the dates as well as the flower elements. I'm not going to cut out the circle templates because I'm gonna use the wooden this for the dates. This is my pre-calc 3.5 centimeter wooden. This, if you don't have wooden this, you can actually use cardboard or chip board. Just take note that only the Cricut maker and Cricut make a tree can cut cheaper. Alright, I have put aside the dates as well as the flowers. Next. I'm just going to hide those elements that we don't want to cut. Don't forget to attach those flowers and also the dates together. Once you're done with that, hit make it. For a base material. We're going to use this mat adhesive foil for the pressure. I'm just going to stick to default. I'm done with a cutting. Next, I'm just going to remove the unwanted part. I have this wouldn't is the diameter is 3.5 centimeter. And I'm just going to peel off the number and place it under these one-by-one. I'm using transfer tape for two digit number. It's just easier to place the number exactly on the center of the teeth. In the next lesson, I'm gonna share with you how I cut out this month and also the days using this removable vinyl 6. Lesson 5 : How to assemble altogether: Hi everyone. In this lesson, after you cut out all the vinyls for the dates and the days and you have paste it on the wooden rectangle as well as wooden circle. Now we're going to put magnet strip on it. I bought this metal disc online. It is available in circle as well as rectangle shape, and it also comes in different sizes. Remove the adhesive tape and paste it on your calendar template, and remove the protective liner, cut out the magnetic sheet, it is solved in different sizes. Mine is A4. Sometimes they also have magnetic tape in a role. Remove the adhesive tape and paste it on the back of your wooden circle. The wooden rectangle is actually quite heavy, so I need a wider magnetic strip to hold the weight of the rectangle. For the part below here, you actually can use a metal plate in rectangle shape. I think it will look nice, but I don't have it. I just cut out the same magnetic strip and paste it on that acrylic surface. That's all for the tutorial. I hope you're Children like playing with this Interactive Calendar. It is also a good learning activity for those young kids who just learn about numbers. Thank you everyone for watching and hope to see you in my next tutorial. By 27
