1. Introduction: any ice and welcome to the how to make drum loops Course in logic Pro. 10. In this course, I'm going to show you how to quickly create your own drum loops in Logic Pro 10. I will also show you how to copy different drum loop and beat patterns so you know where to start. We're going to chop up multiple apple loops and create individual drum elements, and from there we're going to build drum loops. This course covers drum loop creation in the Jonas off Hip hop R and B Future Base Trap Andi M. But the same techniques can be used for all of the different joiners out there. Basically, if you're not familiar with the logic pro 10 that's totally fine. This course comes with the quick start tutorial on how to start logic Pro 10 and two Getting started with the software. If you're already ah logic pro 10 professional user, Just skip the quick guide and move onto the Drum Loops section. You will also get a bonus off free sample packs with a library that is exclusive for you to meet students and is going to be all for free for you that simple pack library contains a lot of different sample packs and new ones are added. Every Friday. You will get free access to them Lifetime with the purchase of the course. Alright, guys. So I hope you're as excited as I am to dive into this course and start getting creative with drum loops and beat making. Okay, so see you in the course.
2. Hip Hop Drum Loops - Part 1: okay, It's time to create some beats here in logic. So first, I'm going to set on eight bar loop here with the cycle tool, and then we're gonna go to a section where I always start with when I'm going to create beats and this is the apple. Oops. They are perfect for, um, like a starting point for beats. And you can also create your own unique beats with only the apple loops, like you're going to take some different elements from the loops and you're going to chop them up a bit. Then you can move them around. Um, you can use combination off several beats to do that, and ah, yeah, just extract the individual sounds from the beats, then combining them to your own beats on. That is actually how you how you create beats. You can obviously create beats in other ways. You can use drum soon's, for instance, or can you samplers with different sample sounds. Or it can use synthesize sounds, of course. So we're going to start out with Apple Loops, so let's go to hip hop for now. I'm going to choose instruments and all drums, so now I'm going to just paste in different loops here, and I'm just going to choose some difference. Random Drumlins, basically, and let's see what we're coming up with. So let's pros around here without bloops and see what we want we get. Let's try that. Some going to drag this out here to our workspace area and, um, zoom in a bit here. So now you can see all over different. Let's hear all over individual drum elements here. So let's see what we get here, and where you can do here is to take the marquee tool like that and you can select a very small let's say, area like this and just President Space Bar like that's they can hear that there's a high. It's see what this is. There's a perfect high it. So let's take this high it. So it's just click on that, and that will create a new region off. Um, yeah, what you selected with the Marquis Ito? Basically, let's see what we have here. A snare. Perfect. Yeah, there we have our high. It's I think this would be our kick drum, a kick drum with and high. It's Let's see if we zoom in even more. Let's see here. So have I. Can high it sound in the beginning of the kick drum as well. So this is too small. Second pair here, it's see if we do it like this. Yeah, it will still hear the Hyatt sound because it's basically in the right in the beginning of the kick drum and the attack off the kick drum is there as well. So you need to have the attack of the kick drum to actually hear the kick drum. Very well, you know. So we will take this region and create that or let it be our kick drum. That's seriously go orbits like this. Let's see, Maybe this kick drum is better. That actually have some kind of snare reverb sound from this snare here? All right, so So what? This is I think that's a high it as well. Yes. All right, so there we have, like, a Cymbal sound. Suman. Yeah, I want to have that symbol as well. All right, so I think we have all of the sounds from this drum loop here. So I'm going to do is to take everything off here case. No, we have a kick drum. See if you go back here. Okay. So what I'm going to do here now is to take another beats from the apple. Oops. I think that's, like, very clean kick drums. I'm going to take the kick drum from this and delete that kick drum that we had in a previous drum loop. That is a nice collapse. Let's see if we can, um, steal the clap from this drum. Appear so I have to have the individual drum elements being very clean. So you don't want that say, um, let's say this crap here we have. Ah, very a lot off. Hi. It's going on right before the collapse. So you want to clap to be very clean? Let's see if it iss I think it's Let's see if we can do something like this. Maybe, yeah, let's take that. See if we have something else want in this struggle. No, I'm just going to use the clap from that. Okay, So I'm going to build a drum loop from the individual elements that I have extracted here, and, um yes. So let's just create a new on your instruments like this. Okay? So that's copy the different elements over here. This was the clap, I think. And this was a kick drum. Wintemute All of these here and just have this track enable here. So we want this to be stereo, So let's do it things.
3. Hip Hop Drum Loops - Part 2: So let's do it in stereo. So, as you can see, the temple is now set to 66 bpm, which was the first Ah, was was the tempo of the first apple up that we imported to this project. So you can see the tempo in different drum loops here in, Yeah, the respective, um, apple loop. You see the temple here as well, and if you're using, like, let's say 66 BPM ass it was for the first apple loop. Then it will actually, um, let's say you import a drum loop in 1 30 bpm. It will actually slow down to whatever temporal have set here in the project settings. So I think we had our Hyatts here. So what I'm doing now is to just copy this different regions and having them set on every singles against see here the beginning. Let's hear there is one marker. There is one marker so you can see the high. It starts there. So we may just get rid of the beginning here. So we know that beginning of this region is actually where the high it's it's is hitting, you know, let's do it like a business than all right. So now we want our clap back again. So let's see if we do like this. Maybe because you can hear the clap is just, like, almost disappearing immediately after, um, after it ends here. And we can do we can actually do it like this. And it may work in this incest because it can see it. ISS liken reverb tail after, um, the clap iss ending here so you can do it like this, but we were going to do instead is to make this short like that. So we don't have the reverb tail there and then we're going Teoh Public eight. This track here and I'm going to move this sample or the region and I'm going to throw in a river beer. So let's go with an silver. Ever know that's, um, that's wrong River, because that is for long River herbs. We want something short. So let's go for a space designer and let's take a listen, Teoh this one. You know, that may work, So let's ah, see how it sounds with other sounds here as well. That may be too much. I think so. You can just, um yeah, just adjusted wits signal there. I think that sounds great. So let's try it out. Now let's copy this high. It's over the high, it's our and a kick drums. The kick drum and Hyatts are basically the most important thing because that sets the rhythm off the drum loop. So if you want a tip here, it's basically just to take all of these different samples and put them on. Let's say here, every single 1 to 2 us against the there, then you have. So you can see this lines here and as soon as against see the the little like it's a lot like a little bigger so you can see there is the marker there. Then you have it a bit bigger there than you have. Small dots almost didn't have a line there, so you always want the samples to be hitting on. Let's say there there, they're so you don't want to sample to be, Let's say random like this. You can hear that it's a bit off, and then there. So you wanted to be like that and same thing goes here so you can see you can't really see a big marker here now, but it's very easy. So chickens here we're at Bar one beat, too. Then if we go to, let's say beat three, there's be three, right? So you want this to be hitting on every single part off the beats and it's we are in the time Signature of 44 Now that is meaning that every beat have four of these parts off the beat. So you can also always go with 1/2 step. So that will be for every beat and one step. Two steps in the middle there three steps, four steps, five steps, six steps, seven steps. So for every beats here we have actually, let's see it. We have four. So if you go with the middle ones as well, we have eight different steps. Weekend puts are a different sample. Seuin So one to let's see middle there 34567 and eight So very easy to remember here. And if we go in, zoom out like this. So now you can see this is the whole bar, right? So this is the first bar. If we do it like this, they have half off the first bar, okay? So if you zoom out even more so let's take 1/4 of this bar. Zoom that in. Now let's take an eighth off the bar. So I'm just doing it half half half. So here you can see you can do it. One step, two steps, three steps, four steps. They can put samples on here in the middle of that, here in the middle. That's and there and so on and so forth. We're going to do that with high. It's here. You can see I have all of these high. It's now placed in.
4. Hip Hop Drum Loops - Part 3: as you can see like that. Let's do it like that. Maybe I should just go with a clapped there. So when I have the 1st 4th off the bar, let's just copy that's that over like this. Okay, so it feels a bit empty there, So let's do it. Something like that. Okay, So now let's take a listen to the other, um, individual drum drums that we had there. Okay, so we have our snare here, I think. Yeah. So let's take this snare and I'm going Teoh, create doublet. Kate, this track here and just copy it over on its mute. That again? Let's see if we can place the snare somewhere here. Because now the snare is on the same place as the clap. Let's take Let's see African move. It's let me work. That's I would like that for now. Que Celestica, listen to this one. That was our symbol. So it's public it it again and do it for the symbol. Okay, so new Thats okay. Okay, I'm going to move the sniffer now, - Okay , I don't think this snare iss really filling here, so I'm going to move it all the way to the end here, off this to bar drum loop. So what I'm going to do here in the end, just to make it a bit different? You wanted to be feeling like it's ending. You know, I'm going to take off the high. It's I'm going to take this snare and make something a bit different here on may be doubling them. So let's see if this is something that will some good. Yeah, sure, that sounds great. So let's take a listen to our whole drum appear. Let's do a copy off the same symbol here. Just so you basically have the same sounds. Ah, in the first bar, as in the second bar? Um, just the end partiers a bit different. So let's just the volumes here bit this snare. I think it sounds way too loud on this because you want the sounds that basically kick drum and the higher to be sounding loudest. Um, but where? I mean, we're creating music, you know. So there isn't no golden rules that you have should have a kick drum higher, or you should have ah, high. It's being the loudest or the quietest and meant in the track or in the beat. So you actually have to experiment with that a bit. But I think that some different, like elements that is just popping up, like for here. The snare that we use here is just being used as an effect in the end. So I just have it that's a bit lower. And yeah, the kick drum, I think, should be the loudest in a beat because you really want to hear and feel the kick drum. But other than that is just by experimenting, you know? Okay, so we're done with this drum loop and let's go to, ah, create one more drum loop and beat. So see you in the next lecture.
5. Copying Existing Drum Loop Patterns - Part 1: alright guys. So I'm going to create one more hip API tear in logic. Let's try some difference stuff here. I'm going to be using loops from the pack, hip hop and also the pack modern RMB. I'm also going to borrow some different stuff from the future base, um, low Peck and you will see why I'm doing this is basically just because they'll have similar sounds in them. And I think hip hop beats nowadays are a mix between hip hop, R and B and the electronic A music electric dance music samples as well. So that's why I'm going to borrow some different drum elements from different styles. Basically. So let's first just look for, ah, basic hip hop beat again and take that kick drum. Um, yeah, because the kick drum, I think the kick drum miss the most important elements in the drum loop. So let's let's look for a beat with a very nice kick drum in it. That is way too much. All right, I'm going to make this drum up a bit faster, so it matches around 80 bpm, so let's make this number of it higher. So I'm going to use this beat here because I think the kick drum is very nice. So let's import it going to drag it out to the workspace area. And it says the added audio file contains temper information. Do you want to imported into this project? And as you can see, I have 80 BPM as my project temple and this Ah, actually, this Apple Loops is in the temple of 80 bpm, so I can import it, and it's still going to be to be PM. All right, so I have it here now and I'm going. Teoh, take the kick drum out from the drum loop. So let's see here so you can hear that the kick drum contains a small Hyatt in the beginning, let's see if we have another kick drum in this drama. But that doesn't have that. There goes. I'm going to use that kick drum perfect. So now we have a kick drum and, um, yeah, I'm going to look for some nice high. It's let's see if I find something in the hip hop Lou pack or if I'm going to choose another Jonah's hip, um, Lubeck. So that's important. That Grant is the first high it. That's a cool drum hope, Um, but I'm thinking I'm going to use this high it and I want a nice snare. So let's see if I find something in the R and B Lue Peck, let's go to the RMB and all drums, and you can also be inspired by these different drum loops. So, um, you can use the same pattern as different drums as well. So actually, I got kind of inspired off this drum oop that I played for the pattern off the drum loop. So going to do that, we're going to import this drum loop. Let's see here. Let's so it. So the kick drum. We don't want that kick drum because we already have one, So let's get rid of that. So the kick drum is, Let's see here. It's on the first and around the kick drum here so you can see the line between where I'm copying this kick drum here, and it's actually lined up with our drum loop that we have in the last track there, the longer beat, as you can see, so there's the kick drum. They have the kick drum as well. Let's line it up like that. We have the snare, so I'm going to borrow the snare from this loop. Um, that's here. Let's creates. I'm going to drag it in like that just to create the track. I'm going to, um, yeah, let's confident over. So now we have our snare like that. There's to kick drums and they're also like some Tom's playing there as well. But for now, I'm just going to concentrate on the kick drum and the snare. Do you have our next snare kick Trump again? Kick drum again. Snare, kick drum, a snare. Then we have, ah, three kick drums in a row. See, there's the 1st 1 There is the next one, and there's the next one. So as soon as I copy, you can see there is a line created between where I'm working on the tractor I'm working on , and it goes through the workspace area so I can see where the drums were lined in this beat here today is very nice to have been a logic still sneer again and one more kick drum there . All right, so now I'm going to just a mute this and let's see what we got up here with great sounds amazing. You, You know, you don't have to, like, reinvent the wheel every time when you grate beets. So this is a
6. Copying Existing Drum Loop Patterns - Part 2: actually the easiest way I think, to create your own unique beats by just copied a pattern off a rhythm first. And then after that, you can, like, exchange your own sound. So now he can. Let's say you don't want need or you don't like this kick drum so you can just exchange the kick drum from this one to another kick drum and use the same pattern. Ah, you can do it as well with, like, meeting instruments. So yeah, but it's a bit harder to and replicate this drum pattern from the piano roll, you know? So yeah, and I also like to work with audio a lot better. I is more flexible, and I think it's like is a lot easier because you can copy paste. You can just move around things without, like, anything weird things happening like in the piano. So now I'm just going Teoh. Yeah, this actually didn't have any high it's, but this is a long be longer beat. Let's see too well, let's see if the 1st 1 has more high. It's in it or not. It has a lot of high it, so let's get rid of this and it's important this instead let's concentrate on the Hyatts here. So we had on high. It's like that Peritus high it now to our new drum. Appear so you can hear the Hyatt there. No, that's a symbol that's a high. It's It's 12 or three, actually. But you can't really hear it. Ah, it's this transience here. You can see the volume going up there and there. I think the Hyatts are there. So I'm going Teoh, do it like that. So let's have the highest like that Now let's see here. There's a lot of fights. Um, I think it's a high it here and then we have 1234 like that. So let's zoom in and let's see here. 123 Or but they are. See, I think we have to zoom it in something like that. Okay, so let's try this out a bit. Here, let's see if we can do it. Something like that. Maybe. I think that the Hyatts are a bit offbeat here just to get that human feeling off. Ah, the highest being played. Something that maybe, um this can sound a bit weird if the timing is and writes on the loop. But if I can see that the timing is actually as it should be, you can see that in the kick drum. It's here that it actually hits on the right on the spot here is you can see, um so this loop is time correctly, as as it should be because it's an apple loop. But you never know, um, can be some timing issues or something of that. But, yeah, the Hyatts are being played as you can see her. It's not really like lined up with the correct see Consider is not really a lime, as it should be, is a bit off. Be tears against. See? This one is actually aligned. This one is not. It's It's between these. It's between this line. Sierra second. See, as I said before, this is just to get like a more human feel off the, um of the drum loop off drama pattern. And if you have everything lined up, assets as it should be, you know, can sound a bit like it's a robot being playing playing your beats because it's not like a human playing on a beat box or on a beat machine or a drum machine because when a human place and a drum machine you would not get it's being played exactly on the grid. You know, because you're because you're playing in a way, their fingers on your hand. So that's a more natural way off and creating a drama, Petr. But let's try this out. Ah, actually, just copy the pattern out off off the drum loop here. Let's see what this is. Sounds great, right? So you can't really hear the ah, that thes are little Hyatts here are not exactly on the grid. I think it's a cool way, and you can do this when you have. When it's like small time differences, you can see we have four. Um, hi. It's being played in such a short time. So if it's not really like exactly on the grade, that's not make. That's not going to sound bad. It's not going to sound out off sinkers on like that because it's a shish very short of time that you're doing that so it sounds great, but I'm going Teoh, see what we have more in this drum appear. So let's take a listen to it tohave my it there, there as well. See her. So you have the there have lot, many men high. It's so let's see that. I think it's one there and one there as well. I want to zoom in again, Cassie. All the transients here off the high end. So let's see there have one there. Actually, let's hear this little window there is popping up is hiding my view here. Um, that is not good. So let's see. Ifwe can do it. Oh, yeah, that's much better. All right. So I'm going to actually delete those. Well, we're Hyatte's there. We go a lot easier. Something like that. I think that's going to sound very good. See, just trimming out the end here. So now we have our all of our high. It's, um yeah, and we want to have it at least one bar long. So let's see what we have in this part. Off the trump strips, that's see. You can see they have a high ads there. I think as well that's take a listen to its Yeah, and there are things. Yeah, and then we're done with the Hyattes. Okay, so let's take a listen to it to our, um, drum loop should be one bar. Very nice. So there's a very easy way, as you can see, to create very nice drum loop by just copying a drum pattern from another existing drum up . And and as you can see, you can just add on different elements on top of each other. Just you can basically mimic what it is in this drum loop. You can see if you have ah, like, snare sore symbols or something about they can just chop up different symbols from different, like other drum loops. Or you can just if you have, um, different drum elements like you have, let's say tens samples off different symbols. You just try them out, switch them out with this pattern and play along like that before I was going to use the loo pack from the future base. But I'm not going to do that because I found my my drum elements in these loops here. So yeah, but I'm going to go over different, generous off loops just so you can see how we work with different genres. So next Jonah is going to be Elektronik dance music and let's see you in the next lecture
7. Future Bass & Trap Drum Loops - Part 1: okay. Ice will come back to the course. So now we're going to take a look at some creation off drum loops within another, Johner. And I'm going to create it now for the future base. Jonah. So let's just get rid of everything here like that. I'm also going to get rid of this prominent. That was before. Okay, so I'm going Teoh, look for some different beats here. And then we're going to take that pattern and copy it again, as we did in the previous lecture. And from that, we're going to get a bill that drum loop and see what we get for results. And in the next lecture, we're also going to do basically the same thing for regulate on. And we're also going to do one for the Electra house. Jonah. Alright, guys. So let's take a listen to the different drum lives that we have here. Obviously, we need to make temporary because we used a hip of tempo and the temple that's it's commonly used in future bases. As you can see here average around 1 40 So let's she's a temple here to 1 40 let's take a listen to the drum loops again. All right, I'm going to use this drum appear so let's yeah, place it here in our workspace. And what I'm going to do now is to just copy the same pattern as we did in the previous video. So now I'm going to import some different drummers and we're going to chip up those samples from them. So I'm going to look for a kick drum first. So I want to have the same kind of kick drum as in this drum appear. I actually want to use that kick drum so that's selected like that. Go to Dublin, Kate it and just copied over like that. So let's take a listen to the kick drums first in this drum. New bullets have in the lower section here, and, uh, let's see what we have. Our kick drums, you can hear the kick drum here is a lot bigger than the kick drum here, so it's actually like it can be multiple kick drums or this kick drum. Just basically have more bass in it or something, I bet. So let's make it. Let's take this kick drum and put it here as well and see what other sounds or other kick drums we have here. The same thing goes here. So this is the kick drum that is going to be used here. I think same thing here. And then we're going to use our first kick drum there. So let's see. Yep. That is the pattern from the kick drum in this drum loop. Okay, so I'm going, Teoh, search for some different drum loops here now to have some different sounds and extract them from from them. Let's take a listen. If this drum loop as some high, it's obviously I think they have. Take this one and just copy or extract the Hyatt from this loop. Great Stood like this. Well, they will have the first time against the M soloing. Both this the drumming up that we try to copy the pattern from as well as they individual sounds sometimes because I want to hear Ah, I can just a b these because I can just do it like this, or I can enable or disable the solo. And then I will hear if some of these drum elements here are nuts in sync with our trump at in here it can hear it's it's in signal. So, um, let's take a listen to this part. There are the 1st 1 this partner, and I think it's the same one ass in this parts. But let's do it anyway. OK, so sometimes the patterns just repeats themselves. Um, sometimes the pattern goes like two bars. And then it's the same thing to bars here, but something else going on in the end section here because you want some variation in drum Libs. You don't want the drama to be sounding the same thing all around, because what the producers are going to be doing later on, when they use your drum loop in your production or in their production, they're going to look that beat because that baby is going to be basically used as main beat in their production. Zoom in on this part
8. Future Bass & Trap Drum Loops - Part 2: art. Just focus on the third bar here. Right? So let's see the fourth there. Have the first time. All right, so it's pretty hard to see where the high it's actually hits. Here, you can see there's some trans, and here you can see a transit here. Um, I'm actually going to leave that as it is on. Just try it with a kick drum. That doesn't sound good at all. So maybe I'm going to use the same pattern as in the second bar here. Yeah. So let's do it like this. So you can basically just copy over different bars. Um, and I'm going to be some big creative just going to actually public ate them like this. That may be let's take a listen to our drummer. Awesome. So now we need some snare drum. So let's look for some snow drums here. Maybe this one. I'm not really sure if this mare is going to sound good with the kick drum and the Hyattes , but let's give it a try. All right, So, solo, this one. Okay. Awesome. So now I'm going to use the snare drum as it is in this drum loop. Try the first bar. Great. There have our second snare there ever. All right, so let's try it out. Now you can hear the snare. Drum isn't really like it's a bit thin, I think, um, we can try to like adding a river beer. I mean, it sounds good, the it doesn't sound bad at all, but I think that the snare drum can be either layered with an understand snare drum or just switch out with them. Something else, you know. So let's see if you have something else here. Yeah, I'm going to your stop one. So this is something that one to use exactly that. And this sounds very a tacky You can call it. Ah, it's It has, like, a very nice click in. It's basically so that would make our snare drum, um, jump out of speakers. I love more. Is that off? Okay, it doesn't make much of a difference, but I think, um ah, if you would have it in a production with other instruments and stuff, the snare drum will cut through the mix a lot better if you have, like, a clicking more of a clicking sound right before the snare drum. Actually, that was some good with a space designer. That sounds great. So I'm going to get rid of this snag drum, and I'm going to use the loop acid. It's like that. So this a basic like a very standard trap kind of future bass drum loop that we have created here and it's against. It's very easy to do so you can as that before you can add in different hires and different small elements in this drum loop and make a variation of it. So let's say that you wanted to be more variation in it. You can just copy all of these I that. Then you can do some different stuff here so you can add up more high. It's or more snares or different snares or different kind of sound effects in it. But the rule of thumb here is to place your different drum element on those like half steps , you know. So here, here, here, here and here, it will be good, and also you can do it if you zoom in a bit. Um, that's a very good pattern to think off. Then you can always place or misplace the samples a bit so like that. Or like that, you can see them. Um, are marker here. This would be our, like, perfect placement for different drum elements. But to have it's sounding more humanized or yeah, like it's been playing by by human. And then you wouldn't. It's good to place it a bit before orbit after I should be a very little variation here of time, because if you misplace it a lot, then you would you would hear that the drum loop would sound not in sync. Really? Alright, guys. So in the next lecture, I'm going to Let's see, I'm going to do a rig, Aton and I'm also going to do a Electra house drum up. So see you in the next lecture.
9. Reggaeton Drum Loops: all right, so it's time to create our Riggott on drum loop here. Let's get rid of that all ones And let's see what we have here in the reggaeton pop flew back from from Apple. As usual, it's too fast or too slow. So we have a temple averaging off mining. BBM. So let's set that to 90 BPM. That's a typical Ricketson, um, beat there. All right, so we're going Teoh do the same thing. We're going to copy the pattern and just extract different sounds from different drum. Oops. So let's look for a kick drum first. I want to use that kick drum. So that's solo this. I'm going to use this kick drum here. Great. So let's take a listen out to where we should have the kick drums in a drum loop. So So, basically on every beat off this bar, we should have ah, a kick drum. So let's see how it sounds here. There's like a double kick drum going on here, so let's do the same thing and let's so low just to hear that we did this at as it should be so you can hear it's ah, bit off So let's do something like that. And now you can see this sample overrides this one. So let's get rid of that and create a new one where it should be. American there can hear it's ah, it's time right here. So basically, what you need to do is to just take a look at the drama, appear and see where the transients are, so you can see the transient. It's starting here, and I moved this kick drum to here. So before I just said it on the beginning off this beat here, Toby three. Um, but you can see this kick drum is placed a bit like that to the right here, just toe have, like a like a different kind of things. Like I'm accidental than that just happens from nowhere, you know. So let's just get back to that. So now we have our kick drum set there, and let's take a listen to the other drum loops that we have in this drum loops. So I'm going to borrow the Hyatt from this drum loop, greats public eights and take this high end and just move it to here. I think high it is here as well. Let's take a listen. Yeah, I think its sound. I think it's like that. All right, so let's take a listen, Teoh the other high. It's that will be placed in this drum up. So basically the same pattern. Ghosts. It follows the same pattern here, so I'm going to just copy it and let's take a listen to the high it and the drum up here. All right, so I'm going to use it like that and, um, no, I'm going to look for a snare. All right? So let's let's look for us now. Here in one of her beats solo snare. Perfect. So let's just extract the snare from here. Rates. Let's move it and see where we should have our snare placed. So, obviously, in Riggott on the snare is the most important element, because that is what defined the rhythm in the in the drum loop. You can also see it's a bit off great here, and I think it should be like that. But let's take a listen to our drama up just to make sure yes, and the same thing goes here regularly is very basic and simple for for that um it's very easy to just, um Yeah, it is just one pattern and depending goes on and on and on. Basically. So what would rig it on drum loops? Iss unique with its the different things that comes up within the rhythm and the basic like , um, kick and snare, snare kick, um, rhythm pattern, you know. So if you take a listen very closely to a regular Tom drum loop, you will hear a lot of different different elements that isn't like the prominent ones, like kick drum or snare Hyatt. There, we forgot a snare. You can hear that sound there. For example. That's just one of the small sounds that I meant. All right, so let's take a listen to our drum loop here. Great. So they would have a very basic Riggott on drum loop. And I mean, um, already like this It sounds okay. Ah, I would use this drum up as it is in my one of my productions. If I would make a regular on, um, right on track, but then I would add some different drums to it, but it is very is a very clean drum loop. And as you can tell here in the apple. Oops, I think, Ah, lot of these drum loops that it comes with logic. It does have too much of elements going on in them, so it's a nice way to just extract the drum loops. Make it a bit unique, you know, because you're adding in difference. A drama was from different loops, and then you're making it also a lot easier. Lot simpler. So, um yeah, and And it's also getting a benefit for you that if the drum up is simpler, then it's a lot easier to mix it later on. So you would have loved, like, a lot less elements to worry when you're doing your mix down. So that is also a nice thing to toe have in mind. So I think less is more is a very good statement for this kind of things, with drum loops and drum elements.
10. EDM Drum Loops & Compression: Alright, guys. So in this video, I'm going to show you how to create or recreate E g M loops from Apple. Oops. So let's search for a drum loop that we want Teoh copy from or copy the pattern from And then we're going to look for different drum elements inside of different apple. Oops. Okay, so that's here. So this is a standard e g m kind of drum loops or Elektronik dance music drama Pierre. So let's see. As you can see, there's a kick drum. There's a high, it's there's, like a lap and the kick drum. So, um, if you take a listen is basically a kick drum clap, kick drum clap thing, then there's also a high at hitting on both of them. So what I'm going to do where I'm going to find Kick Drum first to use, So let's hear. All right, let's use this big room kick so gonna import it like that, and I'm going to use the kick drum only, so that's muted. And now let's find the clap. There's a nice clap, but let's see if we can extract this clap from the drum loops, since I think there's a lot off drum elements in this struggle, But let's see if we can, um, isolate the clap here. All right, so let's try that out and let's take this drum low, period. Just getting here. You can hear some low in here, so we're going to low cut it a bit, and you can also hear that it's like you have, like, a click sound. I think it's coming from the end section here. So what we're gonna do, we gonna take a fade to hear and faded a bit in the end here. So now let's see if that solve it, Not really. So let's see if we can do the same thing in the beginning here a lot better, right? So you can always solve this kind of click sounds and that you're getting if you're like cutting something in the middle off drum move or in the middle off any actual like sound from audio, the best thing you can do is to fade in and fade outs inside of the order region. That way you won't get this kind of clicks. The reason why you're getting this clicks is that you can see this is a sound wave here. So let's see, let's say that you're cutting it in the middle of the sound wave, so somewhere on there, then you will get a bit of a click sound, because the summary of is just ending like that, as you can see here. So you're gonna get ah, kind of a glitch there, so we want to high it here as well. So let's take a listen to the Hyatt in this drum up to the high. It is on the second here, so high it is there and there, there and there. Let's find a nice high it. Let's hear if we find something. So I'm going to use the Hyatt from this drum loop here. Let's take that out. Let's put it on the second. And now let's just copy this over here. Let's take a listen to our drum look. Now there is it to do, right? So what I'm going to do here now is to glue all of these elements together so they sound like one. So let's just select this these three tracks here and ah, create track stack. So I'm gonna do a summing stack. Let's create that as well. And now on this some three that you get here. This is the track. Stacks of the Tracks Act is basically the group off these three tracks, and we're gonna do an audio fix and let's put in a compressor. You can also do that by going to this little bar here. Double click on it and they would have our compressor. So now you can go to the presets here, go to drums, and from here you can actually experiment a bit. But when I always dio in the beginning is to just take the drum makes here, then you just play around a bit with threshold. So what one achieve here is to get like like the kick drum, clap and high It sound like one. So right now, as of now, you may feel like they they do sound like one. But I can already tell that all of these three elements sounds like they're come from different places. So let's take a listen to the drums without the compressor and now with the compressor on. So I don't know if you may sound like here in a difference, but if we A and B This in other words, enable and disable this compressor here. Then you would hear a bit of a difference. It sounds like all of these drum elements are glued together. Just listen very, very carefully now, right? I could hear a slight difference. I mean, in this case, it's actually pretty good dynamic balance over all of these three drum elements. But let's say that you have 10 or 2012 or 15 or even mawr drum elements playing at the same time. Then you will hear a huge difference when you put on a compressor like this and another very good tiptoe have here in the compressed compression is to go with a threshold, but not like the minus five should be your sealing off hitting for the gain reduction here . So I don't want to pass the miners five because other like, if you're doing it like that, if you're let's say that the gain reduction is going up to minus 10 or minus 20 or something like that, then you will get on over compressed sound and it will feel it was sound squashed, and they will all over almost get like a very thin sound. file or very thin sounding sound? Five. Alright, guys. So that is it for this lecture? See you in the next one.
