1. Introduction to American Buttercream Frosting: In this course, I will show you how I make American butter cream frosting to decorate cakes or cupcakes. It is very simple to make. I will walk you through the steps on how to make it, and then show you how I use it to decorate some cupcakes. I hope that you find this course useful. 2. American Buttercream Frosting Recipe Ingredients: In this lesson, I will talk about the ingredients that you need to make American butter cream frosting. All you need is one part butter, four-part powder sugar, and one part vanilla extract. If you decide to use unsalted butter, then add half a teaspoon of salt when you mix all of the ingredients together. The other thing that you will need is a bowl with a tight lid. I got this bowl at ikea for the vanilla extract. It doesn't matter if you use imitation vanilla extract or peer vanilla extract. If you can get your hands on peer vanilla extract, that is better. When you want to decorate cupcakes or cakes with the butter cream frosting, you would need to get some sort of piping bags. Like the ones I have here are 16-inch piping bags. And if you want to color your butter cream frosting, you will need to get some food coloring. The ones I have in this video is from dollar tree, which is basically a dollar store in the United States. And if you're short on time or you just want to practice decorating, getting a box of cake mix is the way to go. 3. How to Make American Buttercream Frosting: After you gather all of the ingredients that is needed to make American butter cream frosting. All you need to do is mix everything together. The recipe I used this one cup of butter, four cups of powder sugar, and one tablespoon of vanilla extract. If you don't have a stand mixer to mix the ingredients, don't worry. You can mix it with a hand mixer or by hand using a spatula. First, I put the butter in the mixer and mix it for a few minutes. Then I add the powder sugar, and vanilla extract. I usually start the mixer on slow speed and then I move to medium speed, wants all of the ingredients look like it is mixed and well, I mix all the ingredients together for a few minutes and then check on it. If the mixture is too thick, I add half a teaspoon of water at a time so that the consistency will be better for piping. And then once the butter cream frosting looks like it is good to go, I take a spatula and wipe it off of the mixing blade. And then I just take the frosting and put it into a bowl or piping bag. 4. How to Store Buttercream Frosting: This is how I store butter cream frosting. I put the frosting in a bowl and then cover it with Iliad, the goddess bowl with lead at Ikea. You can also use a plastic bowl with LID as well. Make sure that the container is sealed tightly. The frosting can be left on the counter for a few days, a week in a fridge, and a month in the freezer, just the frosting frosting before using it. 5. How to Make Color Buttercream Frosting: If you want to color your butter cream frosting, you will need to add food coloring, dried fruit powder or something at a bot that has color. For example, I got a set of water-based food coloring from dollar tree. It is easy to apply to the frosting. I usually start adding a couple drops first and mix it into the frosting. If I am trying to get a marbled frosting look, I will vote the frosting a few times and then stop there. But if I want all of the frosting to be covered with coloring, I will fold in a few more times until the majority of frosting is covered. I recommend voting the coloring instead of using a mixer because you could accidentally over and mix it over mixed frosting looks like curd and it is unusable. Also, if you want to get a color wheel, it is very helpful to help you with the coloring your frosting. I got this color wheel at Michael's, but you can also get it at Joanne's fabric in the United States. 6. How to Decorate Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting: Here are a couple of examples of how I use the butter cream frosting to decorate cupcakes. For the first design, I decorated BREEAM cupcakes in a piping bag, fit it with a small round piping tip. I pipe lines and squiggly lines like this. Once you get the hang of piping cupcake, that grading is pretty fun. If you make a mistake for the design. Don't worry about it. Just use a small spatula in scrape off the frosting slowly. It is also a good idea to make extra cupcakes in case you want to start over again. That way you have several tries to get the design you are trying to achieve. So for the second design, I decorated a simple rule set using a large open star piping tip. Depending on the design you are trying to achieve, you can create interesting patterns and designs on cupcakes with butter cream frosting. 7. How to Make Two Tone Color Frosting: To make to tone color frosting, I put frosting into two separate piping bags. First, you don't need to fit it with a piping tip. But in this video I did because I used leftover frosting. I usually use a tall glass cup to hold an empty piping bag when I need assistance with putting frosting into it. I like to use a glass cup with an opening that is about two to three inches wide on top. That way it is not too big, not too small. Since I am making to tone color frosting, I just pipe two different colors of frosting into the piping bag. And I alternate between two colors. The piping tip I used is a large French star piping to. Then once all of the frosting is in the bag, I use a plastic bench scraper to push the frosting down before sealing it with a piping bag tie. I recommend using a plastic bench scraper to prevent it from scratching your table. If you don't have piping bag ties, you can use a bag clip or rubber bands to Haute the piping bag in place. Here are some examples of how I used the two tone color frosting to decorate on top of deserts. You can create all sorts of designs using just two colors, like school mascot colors, sport team colors, and special holidays or events like Independence Day, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, and Valentine's Day. And also make designs for a baby showers or birthday parties. 8. How to Make Rainbow or Multicolor Frosting: Here's an easy way to make multicolored butter cream frostings first and make it different color butter cream frosting and put them into piping bags. Next, I pleased. A twelv inch by 12 inch plastic wrap on top of a table. With each frosting color. I pipe it out on top of the plastic wrapped like this. I usually pipe it about six inches long before moving onto the next color and I pipe the colors side-by-side. I'd like to leave room on the edges so that I can put it in piping bags easier later on. You don't need to use a piping tip when doing this. I just happened to use them because I am using leftover frosting. After all of the frosting is piped onto the plastic wrap, a gently roll it up like a burrito or sushi roll. Then I trim off a little bit on one side of the role before placing it into a piping bag, fit it with a piping to in this video, I used the large closed star piping tip to seal it up. I use a plastic bench scraper to push the frosting down and then use a piping bag tie to tie it up. Before I would use my hand to push the frosting down. But I found that using a bench scraper is much easier. Once you seal up the frosting in the piping bag. It is good to go and you can use it to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or other deserts. Let me show you how I use it to decorate some desserts. So this is how a rosetta will look like using the multi-color frosting. And then if I were to just pipe some star designs on top, this is how it will look like. You can use multicolor frosting to decorate desserts that involves rainbows, unicorns, or other festive events. 9.
