1. Introduction: The e-learning industry
is rapidly growing. So as the number of
instructional designers, not to mention how the pandemic
accelerated this trend. It's changed our digital
culture forever. Yet, knowing how to
start with creating e-learning content is a huge
challenge for most people. If you're watching this class, probably you are someone
who's expected to deliver e-learning content and you don't even know
where to start. Most probably you heard
of articulate 360, the number one e-learning
suit on the market. In this class, you will learn
how to get started with Articulate Storyline 360
and articulate rise 360. My name is bad for collage. I'm the voice behind
these lessons. I simply love e-learning. So you won't be shocked when I say I'm an e-learning designer. I designed digital
learning experiences that users can enjoy during
the learning process. I use articulate 360 on a daily basis as one of
my many tours for work. And I like to share my
knowledge, insights about it. You will learn how to create your first e-learning content
with Article eight rise. And there's a short demo. I will also show you how to
get started with storyline. Creating effective and
engaging pictures is super crucial for any
e-learning content. Therefore, I will teach
you a very simple, yet powerful tool to create impressive visuals
easily and fast. Let's get started. I will
see you in the first lesson.
2. What is an eLearning authoring application?: As I mentioned before, I'm not going to cover how
to use articulate 360, but I'm going to show you what is it and where
can you find it. But firstly, let's
have a word about what is an e-learning
authoring software. There are multiple
applications on the market, in my opinion, and many other 1000
companies think so as well. Articulate is the
number one e-learning ordering tool on the
market worldwide. You can just go
through a website and have a look around
what does it do? Basically, an
e-learning software is an application that helps you to create your
online course. We'd all the features with
eight in that helps you to create quizzes, make
it interactive. Help the learner to give a learning journey by
learning lesson, by lesson. For that, using all
the mood media, just like you see it here in this mock-up video where you can see the user interaction, how the user can, once during the next lecture. Then moving on, this is arise what you have
seen, we will get there. This is exactly what an
e-learning ordering tool does. It lets you to create the
online course from a to Z. And it also helps with all the features
that can help you to assess your result and assess
your learning progress. And this is what
articulate 360 does. You can just go
to articulate.com and there you can find
the different products. You can have 30 days free trial. So basically it is
really a lot of time to test it yourself. So I think it's a really
good deal from articulate. Download a free trial. You can try it yourself then.
3. What is Articulate 360?: Here's a very quick overview of the articulates 360 package. Articular 360 is just like Microsoft 360 with all the
applications within Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft
Word, and so on. Here you see the different
applications for desktop and web applications. Storyline 360 and arise. 360 is the artist to
that we will focus on. But as you can see, there are many other
applications that you can use. These applications are all
built for e-learning creation. As the name already suggests, 360 means that it's an online based system where there are updates
almost every single day. So updates are always available and if
you are subscribed, you will see old and new updates available on your
applications right away. Install the updates yourself. As you can see here, they're already
updates available, available for story-line. This is the overview of
all the applications that articulate 360 includes. Now here we are
inside my account. And the first sample one update. They just the layout
because they are always working on making
the software better, which is really cool. This is the dashboard
of articulate 360. Here you see the
rise application that you have
already seen before. Here you see exactly
the ice cores that I created for this course. Review 360 is another, it's like the Google
Drive for articulate 360. Here you can upload your
videos or export it formats. And then you can stories,
you can share it. There is the name of the
reviews that there is a common section for every
item that you upload. Stakeholders, your customers,
your students can view it and the comment there,
if they have questions. There is articulate
360 training, which can be really useful. In my opinion as a start, I don't find it
helpful because it really only focusing on the
features, which is important. You have to learn how to divide used the divider blocks
exporting courses and so on. But the overall
e-learning experience is not how it starts. It really starts from
the learning experience when you really start
from the exact problem, the project, where you have to create the
e-learning course, e-learning courses
just the output. It's not the problem itself. The problem itself, how
you start a project and e-learning software will be
the tool, in my opinion, is not good to start with the software because
it's just going to get you lost in the details and you're not gonna
see the big picture. This is an amazing tool. This is an amazing software, but you have to start with a real project from a to Z or
the at the very beginning, it doesn't make sense to start with the features because you still don't see
the point of it. But this is what I'm
going to help you with in my upcoming classes here. Still, you can already
start yourself and you can do already
lots by yourself. This is the overview
of articulate 360. Once again, if you already
installed your free account, this is what you will
see in your dashboard and you will have already
prebuilt courses. This is shortly articulated 360. Once you've downloaded
the free trial account, you will see exactly what you
see right down the screen.
4. What is Rise 360?: Let's learn quickly
about articulate rise. Here I am again in my
dashboard and here, as I already mentioned before, arise 360 course templates. And he received many, many templates that
you can start with. Actually, it can be really helpful at the very
beginning when you really didn't even touch
articulate rise before. These are mostly
compliance training because compliance trainings are the most typical trainings that companies need
at their workplace. Training at just the very basic
well for fire prevention, safety and so on. But there are also other
topics like health wellness. It is the topic, but now what we are talking about
is that the format, how you can start
to use this here, you can just select, for example, this template. And then it's going
to open right away D editing surface
of the template. Here you can already
have your name on it or you can hide
it as you like. And I'm just going
to review preview. Here is already
ready-made template. You can start a course,
as you can see, it is very the same
structure and it works in a very similar way that I
already showed you before. There are different blocks,
different interactions. The different lessons, the
navigation bar is the same. You can close or
open the height, the menu bar if you like. And you can jump to different
places or you can also set up how to have the navigation should
function and so on. So this is one example and you
can already edit yourself, and this is what I'm
not going to do here. In the same way you can
choose any editor template. And here I am going to
rise tab right away. Here you see now
it's already created because I just work with it. So it's already being, it has been saved in
my rise dashboard, but I'm not going to use it. You can already
continue and they didn't get I'm just
going to delete this. What I'm gonna do
is just shortly open what I have made
for this course. And here you see the basics. So you can have a basic
understanding how I use those beautiful
duotone pictures. This is already
within the slide. I mean, this is still
a preview version, but that's exactly if
I want to go to Edit. Go to Edit now. And you see here are the
pictures and built in and how easy it was. You can start your own
arise course by yourself, the way I just showed you. And you can start to use one of the templates from
the dashboard. And then you are already had everything to start with wise, but you still need a lot
to create quality scores. And I will show
you in my upcoming classes how to do that.
5. How to create your first eLearning Content with Rise?: So in this lesson, I'm
going to show you how to create something in
rice from scratch. Once you have your
attention for just click on the new course. And here you see that the
rise already offers you many templates as
options to start with. Here we will start
with a blank course. Here, I'm just going to add
the title for my course. Working remotely. That's an easy one. And for
the sake of simplicity, I will just have three lessons. Let's say the first one, obviously now I'm
just improvising. It's not how you create
a complete course, but it's better about the
software, how to use it. In the first one, benefits
of working removed. Let's say this is chapter one. Chapter two challenges him. I'm going to add to
the work remotely. The third on how to
overcome those challenges. Let's say just how to
help to work effectively. Okay, So surfaces really simple and straightforward with the zooming in a
little bit closer. There are settings.
Here, everything is template-based,
everything is default. You can customize a
couple of things, but not many things. Here is a design, for example, and I'm going to pick
a specific color. I will show you how. And here is just a heading
font and the body for now these you can specify, I will go with, I already have
some self uploaded fonts. I will go with this bold for the headphones, for the header. Then you can see already
here and what does it, how does it look like? I'm going to pick some thin
font for the body texts. I think this will do it. Again. This is not how a complete design conceptualization works, is just showing you briefly how to start from
scratch in rise. All right, so these are
going to be my font, but I still need a theme color. You can change the colors. It already shows you how
how is it going to be implemented within the course
with the theme colors. Here's a PowerPoint
that I collected and also with pictures. Now even though we don't go into so many details
about methodology, this is one trick and inside it, I suggest you to use whenever
you have anything topic. Now I collected
obviously about working remotely some specific pictures. When you have these
pictures in advance, it already helps you to better focus in the content
creation process. Here I can, for example,
decide now what could be a good coworker
picture for this course. Obviously, I selected pictures, so actually all of them could
be really good picture. But I like this one, so I'm going to
go with this one. Now, colors. I'm going to upload this PowerPoint so
you can use it yourself too. Then you will have
the color codes. I have some pre customized
color combinations here. I picked this one. The reason for that is
simple because it can make such a huge difference
if you upload the picture unedited or edited, but edited in the right way. For editing, I'm only going
to use monochrome colors. This is super simple
in PowerPoint. You just click on the picture and you
go to, first of all, right-click form a picture
and then go to Color. And click on Recolor. And here you have
the accent colors. So when you have a PowerPoint, you always have a
setup, design setup. For this, you have
to go to Design tab. Click on, and here's
the UC, the colors. Normally it's always the
Microsoft default colors, but I already have so many custom-made
color combinations. I already picked mine, which is already here. If you go to the customers, you see here the x
and 123, It's pretty, it's focusing on soft green with a nice combination
of some dark colors. This is this theme color, and that's why when I go to re-coloring my
picture in PowerPoint, you see here this is the light green accent
color one dark, light green x and
color light and so on. Simply face. See this one. This is actually quite okay one. But I want to go with
the light green. You see here. Again,
right-click and Form a picture and you
have many other options. But now we're going to go into those details in this class. I like this one, but I might go with
this one is quite cool. Alright? So what I have just done is
to use the Format Painter. It's going to speed up
your work. Amazingly. Click on the picture
and go to Home tab. And here you find
the Format Painter. Double-click, not single clip. Very important. Double-click. Go to the next slide, click on the picture. Next one. Click on Always the pictures, and then click Escape. Now we have a set of
pictures which is quite a good start
for the course before we even use arise. I liked this one because it's really good for core pictures. Just giving you the right
impression right away. Activating emotions
is super important. But for some reason I liked this because it
resonates really well. We topic that I'm
trying to teach through rise how to work remotely. I'm going to stick
with this one. Right-click. And I'm
simply going to do is just to export the
pictures from my PowerPoint. And that's it. Nothing more. Glucose. And I will
be really simple. I will just say course
1234 and that's it. Alright, so I will just select, I will save everything on
my desktop for simplicity. Now I go back to my
arise ON by the weight. Now I need the color courts. So I go back to my PowerPoint. Very simple way to grab out immediately the theme color
that you are looking for, you just add a shape that
rectangle is going to be fine. And click on the shape. And here you can select the theme color that
you prefer to do. Gonna go with. You see you can already hear. Compare it with
the picture which shade would suit well
to that picture? I think a little
bit lighter version would suit better. I'm
gonna go with this one. All right. Right-click on
the shape and go to Format, Picture and color
and more colors. And here down there
you see the hex code. And this is going to speed up
your process a lot as well. Copy paste that, and
go back to your eyes. Now, you can click
on the Custom Index and colors right here, just based on the color code and see it we're getting there. Here. You see as well if you do any
kind of interactions here, it's going to create the
same excellent colors for the template based items within rice, which
is really cool. For example, this icons the plus icon and here
the plus sign and so on. Alright, save it. And now we are getting one
step closer navigation. Here. I would just leave
everything as it is. You can customize it later. You can just have
a look What kind of you can restrict
the user if you want, or you can have it free. I would suggest to
liberate free as a star. You can start the
sidebar on the left, open or closed or
no sidebar, no, this is actually a new feature, so it's really cool. It was not available last year. Yeah. And you can customize
it in different ways. I'm going to be fine
with this translations. It's also cool if you aim to create a course in
different languages, labels, labels, for example, at the end you add
the beginning, you see Start Course, and you can rename it. Let's start, for example. And then you will see how, what difference it makes. And then collaboration is not so important
right now, close it. You can still not have a review because you still
didn't add the content. Let's have here three options. Now, I will only use basically what matters
is the lesson and the quiz. The business content is against some template that we don't need templates because now we
do from scratch the quiz. We will do at the end. But for now, we've
started with the lesson. Now you are within the chapter, and here you can
start to add blocks. If you click on all the
blogs that you see here, taxes paragraph and subheading. Let's say I'm going to
just add the text box. Now you added one block here and you can add blocks
as much as you want. So this is one block
and as you can see, it is quite a good
combination with this header and body font. I'm going to hide the older to create some enough whitespace. And just again here, you can always change the
type of paragraph statement. I'm going to go just read
the paragraph and pictures. Yes. So either you add the block from the plus sign or down here, all blocks, but when you are already have more blocks
is just makes sense. Click on the plus icon
and then you can hear add very easily New Media, video, picture and also gallery. So let's click on gallery
and then click on. I want to show you
the flashcards, which is the image. This is still not yet. You have a specific one
category for interactive items. And here you see all of them. Let's start with the flashcards. This is the most simple one. You can click on the
card and you can decide if on the
front card should be a picture or text or the
other way around and so on. And this is also really nice. So I'm going to delete this. I'm going to leave it here. I will just go back to
lesson. Once again. Now you can go back and
let's have a preview. See now we're getting somewhere, but it's still not really there. Once again, I want
to hide the older. So you see now it's more clean. You get again. You
see going back. Here is the label
I just changed. Let's start, sort of
start from course. Let's start. Very nice. Okay, I want to add
the core picture. Remember that we wanted to
add the core picture again. Here, up, down, up, up here you have a review share. We are just focusing
on settings right now. Theme, logo, we don't
need it to cover, we'll need that font and
color customizations. We just set it up. So here we will add the photo I just edited
from my desktop. And here you can decide
about the contrast. What you will see here, if it's 50%, 30 is not. So I think 40 person,
that would be nice. Yeah, let's go with that. Then close it and now previews. Nice. I like it pretty much. Let's go back and
yeah, that's it. Okay. Another thing is that
also good to have a cover for different chapters. Now. For that I will just go to I'm not going to do
it now step-by-step. I saved all of these
pictures on my, on my desktop and I can upload to my rice
course from my desktop. Here I want to add
another covert picture for this chapter benefits
of working remotely. Now I will open the plus icon
and I want to add image. I'm going to use
the text on image. I might even add the text, but I will use it without text. I will just delete
the text editor here. You can delete it shifted or you can change
the format of the picture. I will leave it like this. And here you can edit. You see there is a layer. You can change the layer. It's dark now, I will just
start getting a little bit, but you can change it later. I'm not going to on the
top, it's really important. I'm going to make it no
padding on the down. It shows the distance between
the blocks. On the top. I don't want to have
distance between this line and the picture here. Of course I want to
have some whitespace. So this is what means
if you go to the Edit and it's really intuitive if you would figure
it out yourself. Now, I want to change this
picture, edit, replace. Here are all the pictures
that I use and this is what I'm going to upload
all the pictures, benefits of working remotely. I'm gonna go with this one. The cool thing is
that it's responsive. But obviously if you change
the size of the web. The page, it changes with the
picture so you cannot see, you cannot know in advance the user what window size
the user and the user has, or is he or she
watching the course from the phone or an iPad? So the best thing, the best thing that you can
do is crop the picture right here and make it
much, much smaller. So if you go like this distance, you can make sure that
the face will be in. Then you will sacrifice
the rest of the picture. But here, the face is what
creates the attention. And obviously, you can guess the cheese working
from their phone. And that's going to sum up the benefits
of working remotely. All right, so you can
add here now some, let's add some interactions. Going to go with this one. Here, I can ask questions. Let's say I'm going to
add here the header. So what are the benefits? Here? I can always change
the background. I'm going to do with the
f, so that's the white. All white, right?
Now, here you can add different, right? Wrong. Item. 1123 are the right choices. 456 are the wrong choices. Close. I would just have to
remember for what was wrong. Was wrong too. What happened? All right, so I made some mistake. Here. You already have some feedbacks and you can add some continue
buttons super easily. This is one chapter now you are unable on Chapter challenges. The cool thing about it is
that you can save templates. You can click on the
Plus blocked templates, new and just click on
this picture, save it. Challenges. And
I'm gonna go ads, block templates, and here it is. I just have to
change the picture. I have d's and I think I'm
gonna go with this one. And I'm gonna, I'm gonna
show you one more trick, which is also really useful when you don't want to sacrifice
too big part of the picture. Either you can add some text. So outside, the outer maybe to
believe it too short, but you get the picture. You can change the size. And this is also how
you can control. If you have a look
at the preview, looks also quite cool. Then you get the picture. I'm not going to have too
long for this lesson because now it's already showing
you the basics. Here. I'm going to also add
still among them were header for this one. The other challenges.
Now without text, I will just like mental burnout, whatever, too much
isolation and so on. Again, it will list
the question again. I would just ask them
some stupid question. I have to avoid too
much isolation. I will make it bold. Bigger choice now. Choice to choice, three, choice for, and this
is multiple choice, but you can change it. So not multiple choice,
but multiple response, meaning you can have
more good dancers. Choice 24 are the good one. You can also set up
different responses. Now I'm not going to well, let's say a correct this is
the correct answer. Yes. That's right. You, you can hear, add some motivational items, some more personalized, customized reaction for
a good or right answer. And no. Unfortunately
that's not correct. So some gentle rejection though, that's not the right answer. Let's see. You can already
desk did from here submit, though that's not
the right answer. So we know that the choice
24 is the right one. And yes, that's right, cool. Again, lets them continue. And then the final quiz. And remember, I told you that I will show you
shortly the quiz. Now this is a completely
built in a Quiz Template, which is super fast and it's easy to create
exams, for example. Here is okay, So this
is your final exam. Here you can add
again question here. I will just leave it as it is. I will remember that
in the first one, choice, one, choice 14. And let's preview
it. Start a quiz. Choice, one. Correct answer. And choice. Correct answers. So I
made it perfect score. 100%, Hundred percent. Awesome. Let's see how is
it been incorrect? Let's have a 50%
score. That's correct. Here you can set up also someone already reached the 50%
that can be passed. Or you can customize that here. 80% is the minimum. I reached 50%, so I
did not pass the exam. Alright, let's go back and I think we have a complete
mini-course already. Let's start. Here
is the first one. Challenges. They
didn't add here, a car Continue button, but I can do that as well. There it is. This is how you
make a course really fast. And I really
recommend you to use monochrome pictures because
you can see how many, how much difference
you can make with it. It's really the look and feel
is much more sophisticated. There's whitespace, it's
clean, it's simple. And believe me,
people love simple is just attracts the
human eyes so easily. Here we go. You already
have a content topic. You already educate the user
with a simple knowledge. Checkers knowledge
check examples. You engage with nice pictures. You organize the knowledge, you control the focus also with a nice pictures that suits, that supports the
message is the content. And at the end you have
a nice final quiz. This is how you can teach very easily online with rise shortly, this was how you can create
a rice courses with rice.
6. What is Storyline 360?: Unless lady says a
storyline application, now, I just opened the storyline
desktop application. This is the user interface. As you can see, this
is not a Cloud-based, not under, not even a browser. This we are going
to discuss again in detailed details in
the upcoming classes. Here I will just go through
step-by-step how I built in the pictures and then I just played
with the interactions. So you can see that everything that you have seen
from the previous lesson, this is a source
file for that one. And you can see here there are many other things going
home on the screen, which I'm not going
to include now, this is how you can build
yourself a storyline. If you can open up your
storyline file and within the file you can
just enter the pictures, the duodenum pictures
that you have quoted. And that's it. And this is how you end up with a story that I'm
going to show you steal the preview mode here too. You can see, you can also
see in different formats. In terms of responsibility. Sometimes it loads a
little bit longer. Here you have the whole feature, as I said on the menu bar. You can hide it or unhide and you can click
on the exercise. It's pretty similar to the end result or
when you publish it, when you export it into
different formats, it's going to eat can cover the whole picture and then
it looks also really nice, Lee and without the editing
features, of course. But this is also really cool
that you can already hear. To see everything you build
and you see the functions, how the navigation works, and the interactions like I
just clicked on a button. Now what happens then? And now here is the
quiz, instant feedback. And that's it. It's
super easily done. You see the whole purpose. Now using these pictures was
how to make a difference. How to elevate your
e-learning course with these kind of pictures. This is how you can
do it in a storyline. Once again, you just have
to use your free account. Then you can download for the storyline application
for free as well, of course, and you will
have the possibility to practice 30 days. Go ahead, download the free
trial version of articulate 360 and then you can start right away also with storyline 360.
7. Share your eLearning Content easily: In this lesson, we
are going to do the last step that you need for every e-learning content
is publishing and sharing. Here's arise scores
that I just created. And either you can click on
the rice course or you can start from here too. Export the course sharing. You have to click on it. And you have seen
here two options. You can also export
it from here, but here now you can also get the share link,
and this is done. Now. This is still not the very
less move when you export the course into a squirm
format or other formats. We will get to that in a second. This is one very simple
example, how you can, I'm just going to open
up an incognito page. So here's the link. Enter. There you go. Here is a complete course with a simple link
and this link, you can send it to anybody. Now this is still not in an LMS, is just simply from
the rise server. And here you can send this link to anybody
and then you can already sent the course
that you just created. And that's just
super, super simple. You see this is the same
what we've just done, but now this is from an
external browser window tab. And this, again, you
just have to copy paste the link and you
can send it to anybody. And that person or organization or stakeholders
can have a look at it and have rights and
impression right away. Now the other thing
is to export, which obviously you're
going to need as well. Now here we are again in the
editing surface, so export. And here you go. You can choose the
trekking options. Now, here you can also set the different
rules for completion. I'm not going to talk
about now trekking. We can get into it
in another day, in another course,
in another class. Here just to have the basic functionalities that you can't set up before
exporting your course. Here are the most
important form. It's two elements. So you can also
export it to an LRS, which is not the
LMS form of LMS. For elements, you will
need a scoring format, the classical scone format
here you can choose the older version of
the newer version. If you want to have more
specific tracking options, then obviously you're
going to need x API. But that's a complete
different story. Most users use simply the score. But if you use x API, then you have much more
trekking possibilities to read and track
what the users do, right from the enrolling to clicking the Start
button and so on. From that perspective,
is more limited option. But I can personally
recommend you simply use the score
that you have already. A lot of, lot of information
about users while they do. So these are the two, most of you, you can just pick, pick the last one, so scorn. And here you can also
have different options. Even PDF web format if you
just want to export as a link. But most people needed
with the elements and then export after them. It will download a
zip file based on the pictures or media
items that you've used, it can range between 30 megabyte or even one gigabyte
if it's so big. And then you have
an external file, the zip file and the zip file you can upload to
your own elements. So that's how you can share and publish your
e-learning course. We'd rise.
