How To Find Your Art Style: A Hands-On Guide!

1. Introduction: are you tired off teary lessons about art styles? Do you want to take matters into your own hands? Then this is a glass for you. I'm Patricia, a digital artists and online teacher, and I'm here to help you figure out your own art style for the practical and hands on approach. At the end of this class, you're going to have a develop, unique art style. This will be based on the few exercises that will be working throughout videos we'll be covering What exactly is an art style? Deciding what draw? Creating a very inspirational mood wards for your specific tastes as well as stealing. Yes, you heard me, Right, Stealing. But thesis is ethical side of stealing. Trust me. This will help me get a better feeling off how I want my character to look. What do they like? And what do they do, for example? And these things are things that I know about my character. And if I want to draw something that shows a bit more story and with background, these things here are here to help me into use as reference. Anderson goes for art style so it can be very helpful to make a mood board off the things you like and that you can inspire to create your own our style. And my last one is Tim Burton. So for a long time, I would watch his movies over and over and over again, especially nightmare before Christmas. And what I like about his drawings is how the contrast in the drawings. So you have, like, a torso here that is rather big. But then the arms are very thing that almost just like Luns, then they have really huge hands. The head here is a circle, and then you have a very thin neck going from the heads of torso that you can't almost see . Now these are a bit more about the inspiration than to use directly on your art style. So we just three artists. And now I want you to pick immediate something from media. So a favorite movie, a cartoon, a book, some Mangus and comic books, whatever you want. But it must be something that you watched or read and that it talk to you. So, for example, in my case, I chose Dragonball. Now I've probably Mission Dragonball and the artist a lot of times on my classes, because honestly, it was probably the thing that most inspired me. I really like the style. I have some art books at home, and it's the thing that I always go back to whenever I'm not sure what drove anymore. And I liked to make studies off those. So I started watching Dragonball very young, and sometimes I still watch it. So it is something that I think maids, quite a mark in me and my art style might be very connected with that, even if it's not directly. So do choose something that inspires you and that you enjoy and that you feel that to take a lot inspiration from it. And next is a photo. Just choose. Afford that we might be something that you took. It might be something that you found on the Internet. What matters is that something that you like? So it could be a favorite place, an object, maybe foods an animal, whatever makes you happy. So in my case, I chose here a photo of nature not you might have noticed. For example, let me show you here very quickly. In all these characters, there's one thing in common. There's lecturing them. I always like my characters to be connected with nature, and that's the reason why I want you to put here a photo off something you really like, because these things, the things that you like are things that you're going to put in your art almost at all times. Even if it's unconscious, you're going to want to put that into your art because you like to share and show people the things that you like and enjoy doing. So this is it for this video. Look up pieces off, mediated to like and that inspire you and use those to your advantage. Use those in the future for your own art style, for example. We're not very directly using Dragonball here, but I always I think, that the way I drew draw hair really came from Dragon Ball. It's very if you notice the hair the way a kill it, Auriemma draws the hair is very all about the shapes, so if the hair is curly, he is going to draw. Pick up some things from your those artists, but I also want you to pay attention to the other two things that you chose pieces of media and photo off something you like and help that into attention when you're drawing something because you'll notice that even in cautiously, you're going to draw those things. It has nothing to do with any of those artists. It's very different But I did look at them. I pick up things that I like, and I tried to adapt those into my own art style. And here it's a bit more the proportion and straight lines if you notice there's a lot of strange shapes in here, and I really enjoy those. So this is also a lot about experimentation. You can pick this things. You picked one thing from each artists, and now you're trying to mix everything up. But this a lot of options here does not just one option. Maybe I could have tried to just draw very thin arms and the rest of the body, but more proportional, for example, I've could have drew the eyes much bigger if you noticed in sailing one, and they'll in a lot of animal, especially from the nineties. It's like the eyes occupy almost 90% off the face, and I could have played with that. I could have just it saturates the size off the eyes, make it much bigger. Eso When you're doing this exercises, remember to experiment. Don't just stay with the first thing you do. Try other options. Play with everything with your own style, with things such picked from other artists. Maybe you decided, Oh, I really like how the healthiest artist rose their hands, but maybe when you're drawing, you realize that you really don't want to do that in your art style. You don't want to add in your AR style, and that's fine. So pick something else from that artist. Look for someone else because sometimes we look at artists and we think we want to do that , and we actually don't. It's a very different thing, toe like a style and wanting to do that kind of style that even though I draw in this style or and you don't need to have one style, because if you notice if you see my art on social media, my arse. L has nothing to do with this. This is the thing that I do. It's more sketch. It's a quick style.
