1. Introduction video: One of the reasons I love illustration is because I can create different scenarios in characters from my head. Some places are stories that probably never existed. It took me quite a lot of time to let myself free from the comfort zone and start to expand my art boundaries. Hi, my name is Sasha. I'm a professional digital Illustrator. In this class, I'm going to teach you how to escape your creative comfort zone and bring yards to the next level. We're going to replace our views when it comes to illustrating things that you don't normally illustrate and create unexpected scenarios for our art. Violating fate. To decide the female for. This sound fun with this tablet. 2. Preparing our tools : First of all, let's prepare the tools for our class. You're going to need three bowls, paper sheets, and illustrating tools of choice for the bolts. And we're gonna use these ceramic bowls that I made a while ago. And I think it's perfect for this challenge. The paper cheese is just a beggar and I find my table and I cotton thesis and I think, is that a work of Charles? I'm going to use my iPad. Let's move to the next video. I'll show you a cartoon resource for our experiments and how to lead the facing design or illustration. 3. Creating illustration scenarios: Now that we have our tools, we can start the experiment. You need to prepare ten paper sheets. You should write things on it. E.g. I want my illustration to have a character or characters. So in the first row, I'm going to put paper sheets with some writings of the character or a character on it. I can show you mine and you can make the same ones. Or you can come up with e.g. probably eat bugs, Reform, skeletons, those aliens, dogs, businessman and mice. And I put all of this in the first row. And I turn them around. So I wouldn't see why I'm choosing in another bowl. I'm going to put some actions for my characters because I want my characters to be dynamic and fun. So I came up with this. The first one is making Frankie watering plants, looking at stars, riding your bike, playing instruments. Getting married. They think around bonfire, eating ramen noodles, celebrating a birthday, and feeding pigeons. And the last thing I'm going to do is to choose some backgrounds and environments for my characters and actions. So I came up with these background, which is Japan. Rock concert, perfume shop, Forests, office, parking lot, fast food restaurant, Halloween party, and lake. Okay, So these are all done. I can shake it. I can mix it just so I wouldn't know what's in there. I'm probably going to close my eyes just so we can be more serious for me. Now let's move to the next video where I lead the fate to illustration. So excited. 4. Letting fate decide our art: Alright, one moment of truth. Now I'm going to choose the theme for my next illustration. I need, I'm going to have my eyes closed. Okay? Okay. So my character is going to be a grandma. What are you going to see? Grand mom is gonna be looking at. All right. At home. This doesn't sound like a very crazy scenario, but it's something I wouldn't come up with when I'm creating the new illustration. Okay? Okay, let's get started. 5. Creating a character: Let's create our character for me. Eat grandma. I'm trying to recreate the grandma from memory of my own grandma. She used to have curly hair. She would wear some needed sweaters and pants. He was her favorite outfit. The second grandma is gonna be probably a bit older and have acute vary on her head. Does the neck is Grandma I'm going to add some meeting tools. Goes grandma's like to neat stuff for their kids and grandchildren. I think we're going to go with this one. She's seen as the most interesting. 6. Creating action for our character: Okay, and now let's create the action for our character. For me, it's looking at the stars. Okay? So someone can look at the stars in different ways. E.g. my grandma can look at the stars through the window or maybe she has a very cool house with a glass ceiling and you can just lay on the bed and just look up the stars. And maybe she had a telescope to look at the stars. Let's create all of these scenarios and then choose the best one. The first action I'm going to create for my grandma is her sitting in the chair and watching stars through her window. The next one is grandma watching it stars through her telescope. Many grandmas have telescopes in their houses, but it's possible in this letter. And the last one is grandma watching the stars through her awesome glass ceiling. Honestly, I'm jealous of this one. I think I'm gonna go with the first scenario. This grandma seems more authentic and I can imagine creating so-called light coming from that window. 7. Creating background: And the last thing for our illustration is the background, which is very, very important for us. So I have the background of ramus home, and I will get some references on the home. Grandma's grandmas have a can have liver specific code like within all furniture and maybe like many details. Like, I don't know, like crochets is things like we need to. Today's biggest sounds, details and you can have important to, the references are fun to my procreate document. And now I'm going to pick up the things that I like about them. I'd like to split Barton on the couch. I can use it in my illustration. This wooden chair looks very suitable to them. I like this window with beautiful vintage questions on it. Seems like a very grandma lifestyle. Pictures and frames on the wall seems like a good addition because grandmas always have some photos in their houses of them yank or maybe their family. Here. I like the bookshelves with many books and my grandma used to display some vintage niches on shelves like this as well. I can add some plans to grandma's wrong because grandmas like to take care of plants. This one has nice shelves and also some interesting curtains on the window. Maybe I'll add chimney to my illustration, but I'm not sure yet. Now I'm going to create a very rough sketch. And just to put the things I want to, this illustration can see how it looks in the competition. Now I'm going to refine the sketch so it would be a better base for our illustration. 8. Adding colour: Now that we have the place for our insertion, we can add color. So it will look more fun and interesting. I feel my canvas with the darkest color from my palate. So it will be easier to choose colors that contrast with it and compliments it. This way, our illustration is going to look more consistent and well put together. I chose the pellet with colors that are more in a warm side and have vintage feel. For this illustration, I use dry ink brush that you can find in Procreate brush library under inking brush bolder. 9. Final details: Now, for the last part, we should just add some more details and shadows, lighting and our illustration is going to be finished. Since my grandma can only see stars in the nighttime in a dark room, I put a layer of dark blue color over my illustration and make it lower opacity. Now, I need to see where my light source is placed. Seems like the only light source in this scenario is the moonlight coming from the window. He's going to lay on Grandma's face and body facing the window and also some part of the room. The rest is going to stay dark. I'll also add some darker shadows to places that are completely trashed by the moonlight. This is it for this project. Thanks for joining me. I hope you really liked it and I can't wait to see all of your creations in the project section. I'll make sure to look at them all and leave my feedback for you. Thank you so much and I'll see you in the next class. Bye.
