About This Class

One of my favourite things to draw are flowers, especially lavenders.

They somehow bring tranquilly to the soul.

In this course, we will learn to make beautiful illustrations of lavenders with gouache.

You can use this artwork as room decor, a journal, or a gift for someone special.

First and foremost, you will learn how to find inspiration for your paintings.

So, next time, whenever you wish to paint flowers but are still stuck in the so-called "artist block,"

you know where to start.

Then, you will learn to let yourself loose from the nervousness of filling a blank page.

You will also learn the principles of light and shadow.

For the final project, you will combine all these to create a beautiful lavender illustration.

In the end, you will have all the skills you need to create even more floral illustrations.

You will need

  • Sketchbook/Sketch pad
  • Gouache paints
  • Brushes of various sizes
  • Pencil
  • Positive attitude (I hope that made you smile)

Transcripts

1. Chapter-1 Introduction: One of my favorite things to draw are flowers, especially lavenders. They somehow give tranquility to the soul. In this course, you will learn to make beautiful ustrations or lavenders with gage. Firstly, you will learn how to take inspiration. Next time, whenever you wish to paint flowers, but are still stuck in the so called artist block, you know where to start. Then you will let yourself lose from the nervousnes to fill a blank page. You will also learn the principles or light and shadow. For the final project, you will combine all these to create a beautiful vender illustration. In the end, you will have all the skills you need to create even more forward illustrations. 2. Chapter-2 Taking inspiration: In this video, you will learn about taking inspiration. Now you just decided to draw lavenders, but have no idea where to start. In this stage, I want you to Google lavenders. This is my search result. Yours can be different due to differences in date and location. You see a number of different images and you don't want to make an exact replica. The main purpose of this step is to take inspiration and start grading something new. In the next video, I'm going to show you how to let yourself lose and gain more confidence in making beautiful lavender illustrations. A 3. Chapter-3 Letting yourself loose: M. The previous video, you learned how to take inspiration. Now you will move on to the next step. Now, before we draw something, we get very nerous. It's like, what if I'm not good at this? What if I make a mistake? What if I spoil the whole painting tends to hunt our minds. To prevent this, you have to let yourself lose. I want to show you something. These are some of the many sketches I made from taking inspiration from lavenders. You see, although I wanted to make my final piece using wash, I used every possible medium. Colored pencils, fine liner pens, acros. This is because it opens the door to creativity and exploration. We can see how I made some rough sketches, simply using pencils and colored pencils. This is the one where I used coach, and experimental different backgrounds. Here I used coach, acrolic. This may be a bit nostalgic. Also, while painting a subject, I want you to do some research on his beef, uses, and so on. We increase knowledge. Now grab your sketchbook and make some sketches and paintings of lavenders using different mediums. You can also use different color combinations along with Perpend. You will be surprised to learn that there are almost endless possibilities for creativity. See you in the next radio. 4. Chapter-4 Light and shadow: Welcome back. I hope you are enjoying this course till now. In this video, I want to discuss with you the principle of light and shadow. No matter what type of level you are on, no matter what type of medium you use. You have to keep this principle in mind. Direction of light following on the subject, the direction of shadow, and so on. Without this, your subject will seem to float in air. Let me show you an example. Take a look at these paintings. This one is without a shadow, and this one is with a shadow. Which one of these paintings are you satisfied with? The second one isn't because it creates a more realistic effect. On the contrary, the one without the shadow. The subject seems to be floating in an empty space. It makes us think it lacks something. 5. Chapter-5 Final project: Today is a big day for you. You are going to make your final project, beautiful lavenders. You will be using gage paints for this one. You will need a sketch book, brushes or various sizes, and of course, gage paints. First, let us make the background. For this, we just make Cobalt glue and gage paint with lots of water to make it a watery consistency. Similar to watercolors. H we need to use a big or medium sized brush and just make a splash like this. Take note here that we are assuming that light is coming from the left side. We will add light spaces on the left side and a little dark on the right side. We will do the same, taking of color, d similar to that of purple. Let this piece dry completely. I have made an extra copy of this. Now we'll start to make lenders. We will make a rough outline with pencil. Then we will paint the petals with ah paint. A can either use it directly or at somewhat. Here I added a little water to make the paint move swiftly. Now we have painted all the petals. You will add a little lighter color more of than before. Note that this is one of the most important steps. We have to show many layers. We have to show many layers using sheets of the same color to capture the essence of the subject. You, Mustering an art is not an overnight process. You have to be consistent with time and practice. We will see the difference in your work. Now moving on to the stems. We will use pale green colored gase paint. Again, you can use it directly or add some water. K. Now we will add a little lighter pale green or more of a white than before. This is my favorite part, adding the details. We will add a bit of borders recapture the essence of lavenders. We will use colored pencils and fine liner pens for the effects of light in shadow. Now it's time to add a note. Since Lavender is associated with love, we'll write Love you. K, here we go. I hope you had fun while making this illustration. Make sure to submit it in the final project so I can have a glance. M 6. Chapter-6 Thank you note: Congratulations, you have reached the end of this course. I hope you enjoyed it and found the lessons valuable. I want to share with you that throughout your art journey, there will be moments when you will feel insecure about your paintings, and this is quite normal. It happens to all of us. Just grab your sketchbook, trust the process, and the results will shine. Thank you for making time to learn this course. I wish you all the best in your Illustration journey. Stay blessed.
