1. Introduction: Hello. My name is Jada K. J. You might know me as a small witch streamer and content creator, or you might know me as an artist. You might follow my Etsy or you might not. But if you don't know what I sell or what I do, I sell, switch overlay packs, channels and scenes and overlays. That what we're going to be learning is how to make said switch overlays and what you need to do to upload them to Etsy. Really, any e commerce platform, my goal for this account is to make it a full time thing. Here, I love educating people, telling people what I know. I love seeing people create art. I love it. I love, I love seeing people create art. That and to teach people more about the industry, it is amazing to me because the things that people can come up with in their art is inspiring. It's so inspiring and motivating to see someone go from level one to level two is a goal. It's a goal for everyone, whether you want this to be your hobby or something you make full time. It's a really good feeling to have when every grow something, whether it's skill or numbers, it's genuinely satisfying to watch. In this class, you're going to be seeing the thought process behind all of my overlays. You're going to see how I animate all the overlay Ses. You're going to class names, the file names, and what you need to do to the files to be able to upload them to a limited e commerce platform like that's. You're also going to learn how to upload them to Stream Labs and use them in your actual strings. If that sounds beneficial to you, I would appreciate any follows to keep up those future videos on the subject. Putting your art out there can be extremely intimidating at first. And I get that I've been there, we've all been there. But putting your work out there for the first time is like the most crucial part of starting anything. I'm a very interpreted person. I do not talk to anyone like it life. You got to put that first video out there. You have to, I hope this course is in any way, shape or form, helpful, Beneficial. If you see improvement with my courses, make sure to tag me in any of my social media. I would love to see all of your guys' arts because we don't gate keep here. And I just want to be the teacher that I wish I had at first when I first started. It's going to be a learning experience for the both of us. If you would like to see more educational content by me, you can follow any of my social medias or you can follow me here in Skillshare to help support my growth here. I really appreciate you guys being here. I hope you follow along with me for the rest of the class. 2. What Softwares You Will Need: Now that we've got the intro pushed out of the way, we can now talk about the different types of software and apps that I used to draw and animate my overlays. The very first app that I use is called Procreate. It is $10 in the app store and exclusively for IOS. As far as I know, I've been on Procreate for like four years now, so it could be different. I use Procreate on my ipad and I do all of my drawings on there. I sometimes do animations on there. Yes, you can do animations on procreate, sometimes I don't. Animating on procreate is actually a lot easier than it looks. And I will walk you through how to do that in one of our next videos. I use procreate to draw and finish my overlays. And then for my scenes, draw my scenes and procreate and take it over to Canva and put animated text over it. Or a little animated elements with after effects. If I wanted to make a animation all across the same, and there's just a little short, little moving animation like this. I'll take it over to Adobe After Effects and Animate there, because I can get a much smoother look at Adobe after Effects than I can procreate. I've noticed it's a total time saver for me if I just take it over to after effects, rather than trying to animate it frame by frame on procreate. I also take my art over to Adobe After Effects. If I want a different text animation, if there's not a text animation in Canva that I like, I'll take it to Adobe After Effects there. And the reason why I use three different programs is because there's more tools available to Yes, after effects is the intimidating tool to use? Yes. It is a little complicating and confusing to learn at first, but once you have it down, it's actually a lot more simple than everyone says or than it looks. If that confuse you at all, don't worry. Because in the next few videos I'm going to be talking about every single program that I used step by step. I'm going to be dividing it up into different videos so that you can see more in depth how to use every program. So that you can become more knowledgeable on how to use the programs rather than just me talking about them. So you'll get visuals, don't worry. So in the next three courses, we are going to be talking about procreate canva and after effects more in depth, so that you can get a better visual on how to use it. So without further ado, let's talk about procreate. 3. Creating Twitch Overlays in Procreate: So the first thing that you're going to want to do is open your procreate and you're going to want to go to a blank screen. What you're going to want to do is go to canvas information and dimensions. And what it's going to tell you is that this project is 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels. These are the typical video dimensions that you would see on a TV or even in the twist stream. The first thing that you're going to want to do after you find the dimensions is start to get. I did not have a sketch to start out with because I deleted it. But these outlines give you a really good idea of what the sketch looks like. Also look at all these layers. First, I want to talk about the chat box that I made for this overlay. Doing this reverse gradient is honestly the easiest thing to do, as you can see, also has its own layer so it doesn't get mixed up with the background whenever we have to go edit it later. How I made this is I just clicked on the Lasso tool and I scrolled over to freehand so that I can just draw it myself. And this just allows you to outline it so that you can select everything by hand. After everything is selected, then you can go straight over to your Pin tool and start drawing in it. What the lasso tool is, it basically allows you to go in and select an area that you want to edit so that you don't go outside of the line. This tool just makes it so much easier so that if you have to go in and select an area and make a nice little grading for it, this is a perfect way to do it. Now, I do have a lot of layers for this project. Let me go through all the layers that I have in how I did them. Layers are a really good practice because you can just go in and edit one certain thing rather than the whole picture in a fold. Also, back to the chat box, to where I added the dotted lines on just to make it a little bit cuter and it has a nice border on it. I scroll up to the whole picture and we start looking through all these layers that I have. For layers of this overlay, I have the outline for the cow's ears. I did end up duplicating them so that they are the same on both sides and just looks better. Next, I added this little leaf to indicate that it is a strawberry related theme. I also added the outline of the cow horns, which I turned into strawberries. Because what's cuter than a strawberry cow with strawberry horns. The next thing I did was added colors to the horns, the strawberries as well as the ears. I also lasso tool and put little like decimal dots in the ears just to give it a little bit more style and design for those of you wondering which brush it is in the textures pack. And it is called decimal me flipping through it, trying to find it, There it is. And I did go ahead and outline the border with a darker pink and a lighter pink so that it did pop and make your webcam stand out while in stream. And what kind of file type are we exporting this file as PNG? The reason for that is that you can keep your transparent background in the back. Whenever I do export it into Stream Labs or OPS, let's say you accidentally upload it as a Jpeg instead of a PNG. It's just going to have a white background on it and it's not going to be transparent once placed in Stream Labs or OBS. 4. Animating Scenes in After Effects: You're wondering, how do you animate your scenes on Adobe after effects? As intimidating as it is, I am here to show you how to do it. In today's video, we're going to be talking about how to animate, switch overlay scenes, and Adobe after effects. And trust me, it is a lot easier than you think. So bear with me now. I know that whenever you first open up Adobe after effects, it is just one big intimidating mess. I get it, trust me. But whenever you have like all of the basic stuff down, it's super easy to find everything and you just know what's going on. In this video, I'm going to be covering what is Adobe after effects, How do you use it and how do you animate on it? I just want to go over some basic information that you need to know about Adobe After. Whenever I use this program, I usually take my drawings from Pro Create and then transport them into Adobe After Effects. The files that you take from Procreate to Adobe After Effects has to be labeled as a PSD file. That is going to be your Photoshop file. Once you have that PSD file, make sure all the layers that you want to animate, you have to send over as a separate, transparent PSD file. Psd transparent. Whenever you transfer that over to your computer, you're going to want to just the first thing that you're going to want to do, open up after effects, create your canvas. So you're just going to pick out all of the dimensions. It's preferred to do 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels, especially if you're doing a twitch overlay or scene, because that's going to be the usual video size or twitch stream, any movie. That's just the standard video size. And you're going to press, okay, I have all of my different layers in the program and here is one of them, that's my moon outline layer. It's really beneficial to rename all of your different layers before starting your masterpiece because you're going to get lost somewhere in there. You're going to get lost. It happens to me all the time. I've been doing digital art for years and I still to this day get so lost in everything. Whenever we're animating files on after effects, you're going to want to use a tool called the puppet pin position to a long name I know, but that's the tool that you're going to want to use. What that does is if you click on it, if you go to the layer that you want to a, it's like a little neon cloud light. If you go to that tool, then you start putting pins all around it, wherever you want it to be moving. This mesh should pop up. If the mesh does not pop up, just go up here to this little box and make sure it's so I'm going to go ahead and as you can see we got our points here. Have this little thing down here called the Current Time Indicator. What you're going to want to do with that is you're going to want to move it just a little bit. That's going to allow you to basically put on the next position that you want to be mesh to go into. Then whenever you have all your points, your new points spread out, you're going to want to take this and move it again, and then you're going to move those again. And as you can see, these gray dots are here are going to tell you where your frame was last set. Now if you go back down here and move this current time indicator, you will see that moving around like it looks like a little bird flying in the wind. That is because of those little points, those points telling the image where to go. In order to make the video shorter, I usually do about 5 seconds of footage just because that's basically how much time you want a animated scene to be. You're going to go over here to this work area and drag it to where you want it. In my case, again, it's 5 seconds to drag it there. And you're also going to want to go to this time navigator per here and move that to the same spot. If you go to preview it, it'll basically loop it so it doesn't go on forever like it would have. Do keep in mind I don't use this unless I'm using text. Whenever you use text on this app, if you go and you add some text, what I mean by the text animations, you're going to want to find your text layer and it's usually going to be a different color. You see all of these are gray down here except for that one red bar, that's going to be your text screen. Over here is where you're going to get your effects and presets. All of your text effects. I usually go to animation presets and put the dropdown. Go to text. All of these different options for your text. I animate and animate out. But there are so many different animations to choose from. If you click and drag all the way to your check screen, I put it in the beginning and you press play. Let's see what happens. Whoa, that's crazy. If you want an Anime out, you're going to go to the Anime out, drop down and go to any one of them. Anyone that you want to put it at the end of your animation. So you're going to want to go back and press play. It'll do its thing here, then it'll fade out. You animate text. Now you can play around with all you want and just figure out what you like and which ones you like. Just figure out your flow here. It's honestly so much fun. Now, the very last step of making your MP four animated scenes, you're going to want to make them an MP four, right? You're using Canva or Procreate to make your scenes, they have the option to download it as an MP four with after effects. You're going to have to take one extra step to download P four. What we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and save as downloads as an EP file, after project file. If you're paying for after effects, then you're probably paying for a media encoder. It's going to be this logo right here. Do start paying for after effects. It gives you the option to also include the media encoder because without this, you're not going to be able to download all your files and the file types that you want to. The media encoder will just allow us to take our new AEP file and put it in and make it it in four. Basically what you're going to want to do for the media encoder is find your file you're going to want to drag and drop into the encoder right here. Now what's going to pop up is comp one. It should pop up like this. What you're going to want to do is you want to press the play button and play it all the way through. Not halfway, all the way through, or else it's not going to download as before. Press play. And you can see down here, it's encoding, it's doing its thing. All right, now there's nothing there. Where did it go? Typically, whenever I encode, something goes directly to my desktop and it's super easy, super quick, you know? It's just the most efficient way to do like really simple animations. I hope this video taught you a little bit more on Adobe after effects and just how to use it. Just the basic animation presets. I hope you guys can target in some of your creations. Because I love, I love seeing animations. I love seeing what people come up with and what people draw. So it's really fun. It's really fun. It gets really addicting. So be careful. But overall, adobe after effects, Ana Tim will see you in the next slide. 5. Outro: I hope this course was in any way shape or form informative. We discovered how to use procreate and adobe after effects on how to make and animate your digital art for your overlays and scenes. And just how easy it all is. We learned the file types and just how to upload everything to any software, and we also learned how to encode an AEP file. Again, I have been doing digital art for ten plus years and I'm still learning a lot. My courses will include, but are not limited to, any type of digital art that are used in software. Procreate, can buy paff. Those are going to be my main softwares. As I learn new programs and create new things, I will be taking with me, teaching you how to replicate everything basically. And how to make your streams more unique. How to be able to animate. I'm always learning new things and I'm always willing to share all of my knowledge with all of you at any hour of the day. If you guys have any recommendations on any courses that I should do next with any questions that you might have about digital art, just let me know and I can definitely 100% help you guys out with that. I hope I can be your new favorite art teacher should I give a follow on all my social media to help support what I do and to bring some more educational content for you guys? With this, I hope you guys have a wonderful day or evening. And I hope to see you guys in the next video be
