1. Introduction : Hello, everyone, and welcome to my course. In this course, I will show you how to turn your bedroom into a relaxing retreat in eight simple steps. My name is Linda, and I am an interior designer based in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2000 and nine, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my bachelor's of science and interior design Citizen. I have worked in both residential and commercial settings. In this course, you will learn how to create a floor, arrange furniture, have a confidence to select a close, seen and so much more with the angle of 80. A relaxing retreat review can get away from it all. I created this course for anyone who would like to redesign the bedroom but doesn't know how or where to get started. Please look over the course description, and if this sounds like something that you would benefit from, then go ahead and roll this sauce, and I look forward to working with you. 2. Course Overview : hello and welcome. In this course, I will give you a simple and easy step by step guide on how to turn your bedroom into a relaxing retreat. In this course, we will cover the following eight steps. How to measure your room and create a floor plan. How to pick furniture and create the perfect layout. How to pick a color scheme that will look great. How to pick the right window coverings for your room. How to pick the right lighting in order to create the perfect ambiance. How to pick the right art and accessories, how to create balance and serenity with plants and how to incorporate essential oils into your space. 3. Measure Your Room : Welcome to Section two. Today you will learn how to measure your room and created for doing this will help you to better understand scale in proportion. So this started. For this section, you will need a piece of paper, a tape measure, a ruler and a pencil. You will start by measuring the length and width of your room and remember to make a note of doors and windows. Next, we will draw our floor plan on a piece of paper. And don't worry. This drawing does not have to be to scale, and it does not need to be perfect. Here's my example. My room is 11 feet by 10 feet, and I've notated where my doors and windows are. For example, I know my window is six feet wide, and it's three feet from this wall. The entry door to my room is two feet 10 inches wide, including the frame. My closet door is two feet five inches, and it's three feet nine inches from this wall. Hold on to your drawing, as you will use it as the reference in the next step 4. Create a Floor Plan : Now we will create our floor plan. There are three space planning tools that I would recommend they are. DWR got room. Styler dot com planner five d dot com and home styler dot com. These websites will also be listed below. For the purpose of this course, I will use dwr dot room styler dot com, and we will use the floor plan we drew earlier as a reference to move our walls and place our doors and windows. We will get started by clicking on design your DWR interior that will open another window, and we will go ahead and click on start from scratch. Then on the left hand side, you'll see you'll have different options. We're gonna do the drag and drop room shape. You can pick any of these options, but for the purpose of this video, I will go ahead and pick this one here, click on it and drag it and drop it onto the white space. Now there is a camera here, and you can use that at Asus will render a three D picture of your room. But for now, since we're just concentrating on the floor plan, I'm gonna actually move that to the side. Now I'm going to get started. By moving my walls, you can click on it and drag it, and that will move the walls. Now, up here, you can either use meters or feet. I right now is in feet, which is what I want. But if you wanted to use meters, you can. And that won't change the number two meters. And then But for this purpose, I'm gonna go ahead and use feet. Now, I'm gonna go back to the floor plan that I drew earlier. And I know that my room is 10 feet by 11 feet. So in order to move this here, I'm going to click on this wall, and I'm gonna drag it up until I get to 10 feet. So now I am going to do the same for this wall here. This one needs to be 11 feet, so I'm gonna click on the wall and drag it until I get toe 11 feet. So there we go. I'm also gonna just make this drying illiterate bigger so you can see it. Okay, so now it is. There we go 10 feet by 11 feet, and that's the size of my room. I'm gonna go ahead and click here. It's like a piece of paper with the pencil, and I'm gonna go to doors. And I didn't pick this store here as my entry door to my room. Right Click on it. I'm a dragon and place it where you need it. You can always slide your door toe wherever it is that you needed to be. My door is that's a good, good place to have it. And so I know that my with of my door, it's actually two feet 10 inches. So I'm gonna go ahead and move that there. Then I do want to show you that you can always you can always change the hinge to the right minus left. So that's good. But you can also make your door open to the other side. Okay, so now I know that I have my closet door on this wall here. I'm gonna click on the wall and I'm going to click on this green button there and I'm gonna take this circle and I'm gonna move it down because I know that my closet door is three feet nine inches from this wall here. So I know that my door is going to go there. I go back. I'm going to pick this store here as my closet door and I mean, they drag it over and drop it. So now I can move it to the opposite side. But I can't move it to this side, which is good, because I know that it needs to stop right. At three feet nine inches, I'm gonna change the hinge because it opens this way. It opens to the right, and then I'm going to make the with a little bit smaller. Two feet, five inches. It's what I had measured previously. Then I am going to go ahead and do the same on this law where my window is permanent. Click on the wall. I'm going to click on the green dot Here that don't get me this blue circle Gonna go ahead and move that to three feet. I know it's three feet from that wall Here click there again And now I'm in a click on the windows tab Ongoing Click this when No here, click on it and I'm in a drag it and I'm gonna drop it So There we go. So now I'm gonna click on the window because I know that this window here is six feet wide . So I'm gonna go ahead and click there until I get to six feet. And again, you could always click on the number and put in six feet. But this is what I'm doing now. So there is my window. That's how wide it iss. And then here is my finish four plan. For the time being, I've added my doors I've had in my window, and we are actually going to save this so you can register. Um, it's free. You don't have to pay anything. Um, you could always use your facebook, but you can also register be a room, Styler. If you click there, you put a user name and email address and create a password, and then you were registered. Once you register and create an account, make sure to save your floor plan. We will come back to this in the next section to add furniture 5. Furniture : Section three is all about furniture layout and creating the right balance between your furniture and space. We are going to get started by first thinking about the desired furniture pieces that we would like to incorporate in the room. For example, in my case, I'm going to need a bed, a dresser and two nights cents. Now I will take an inventory of the furniture I already have. I have the bed in the dresser, but I will need to purchase two nights sense. I will add the two nights stones to my list of things I need to purchase. Make sure you hold onto this list because depending on your situation, you will add more items throughout the rest of this course. 6. Incorporate Furniture : Now we will add furniture to our floor plan. We will start by opening the drawing we created and saved in the last section. Go ahead and click on log in and use the email and password you created in the last section . Once you're inside, you're going to click on design your DWR interior and again that'll open this window here, go ahead and click on open saved room. Now, here the room said I have been working on, uh, the top one is the one that I'm going to click on. I removed the camera. That's why it's not showing the rendering. But I'm going to go ahead and click on Edit A three D Room and the floor plan that I was working on will appear. I mean, I go ahead and make this a bit bigger, that down, making a little bit bigger. Then I'm gonna go ahead and click on furniture, which is the picture of a chair. Then click on bedroom, click on bedroom furniture and a minute click on beds. I have a queen bed, so I'm gonna go ahead and click there, and that will give me options of different beds that I can pick from. So I'm gonna look through that, and I'm going to go ahead and picks. Probably this one. Probably this one here. So I'm gonna go ahead and click on it, drag it and put it inside my room. Then I'm gonna click the bottom part that will move it because I wanted to go against this wall Here. There we go. Now, this gives me the whip and the death of my bed. And this is the similar measurements of my actual bed, So that's good. Now, if you click on this green bar here, it will take you to the top, and I'm gonna click on bedroom again. And now, um, bedroom furniture. And now I'm looking for a dresser because I have a dresser that I will be keeping someone. I looked at her here and again. This I will give you different options as to what type of dress. So you would like to put into your room? I'm gonna go ahead and click on this one. Um, just looking through that, and then I'm gonna click on it, and I'm actually gonna move the bottom and put it where I currently have that dresser. Okay, So that the within the death and similar to the dresser that I have now, So that will work. And now I'm going to go back into the furniture's tab, click on bedroom again. And now, um, going, I'm looking for, um, a night stance. I don't have the night stand, so I'm gonna look through here to see what type of what measurements my nights tons will be . So, I mean, I know I have this much amount of space to work with on either side of my bed, someone electricity here and see which one I would like to get. Think I'm gonna go for this one here? Some in it, click on it, drag it, I'm gonna drop it, and I'm gonna move it to how I want it to be. And then I'm gonna put it where it will be. So when I go shopping, I know that I will want to buy a night stand that is similar to this measurements here. So I'm gonna go back, and I'm gonna go ahead and click on another one position to how I wanted to look. So there we go. Okay. So here s my finished floor plan with the furniture. Now, I do want to show you that you do have the option. If you want to change the flooring, you have different options. If you click on the paintbrush, you have different options to pick from. It will also give you If you want to paint your walls, you can do that as well. Once you're happy with how your furniture looks, you're going to go at the top and you're gonna click on Save. Now. I will go ahead and look for the camera and I will put the camera inside the room. This will show you a picture of what your room looks like. Here is a three D rendering of your room. Now, I would like for you to share a screenshot of your finished floor plan with the rest of the class and I'll see you in the next section. 7.
