1. How to Boost YouTube Views for Underperforming Videos: One of the easiest
things that you can do to get more views
on YouTube and grow quickly is not to continuously pump out new
video after new video. It's to give your past videos another chance at
algorithm's success. Now, there are a few things
that you can do to spark past videos so they get another
opportunity to blow up. And that's exactly what
you'll learn in this course, will specifically cover how to upgrade your thumbnails and why click-through rate is one of the most important metrics
that you can focus on, even though it's often
overlooked by so many creators, how to upgrade your titles. Now this is one of
the simplest ways to get more views on a video. Often creators come
up with a title, right when they
upload the video and then they leave that
same title forever. Now, this is a major opportunity missed and we'll cover how
you can capitalize on it. How to get the most out of your description
by giving YouTube the information it needs to suggest your video to
the right audience. Why tags can help
give your videos some visibility on specific
search terms even today, and how you can
find the best tags for your videos very quickly. And finally, why
attempting to boost your past underperforming
videos is the smartest and quickest
thing that you can do to grow on YouTube ultimately
will cover all this and more. And by the end of the course, you'll have mastered
the skill of turning past
underperforming videos into powerhouses that the YouTube algorithm
can't stop suggesting. This course is for
anyone who has a current YouTube channel and wants to grow
and get more views. But it's also for
anyone that wants to start a YouTube
channel in the future. Now this skill is extremely
valuable for creators of all shapes and sizes and it's not going away anytime soon. This course is for the
absolute beginner, all the way to the most
advanced YouTuber. So with that being said, let's hop in and get started.
2. Upgrade Your Thumbnails: Perhaps the best thing that
you can do to increase the click-through rate on your videos is to
improve the thumbnail. The first thing that people
see is the thumbnail, and that's the biggest
factor that goes into determining whether or not
they're going to click. If the thumbnail
is eye-catching, then they'll read the title. But if the thumbnail
isn't clickable, you'll never get any views. It doesn't matter
how good your video is if your thumbnail and
your title aren't clickable, no one's going to watch it. So you want to upgrade
your thumbnails. That's one of the
easiest things that you can do to then rerun your videos and give them a better chance to take
off in the algorithm. Because if you can increase the click-through rate slowly, they'll slowly get more
and more suggested and it's a snowball effect
that will continue to go. So as you can see if we scroll through some
of my videos here, you can see the ones
that I've upgraded recently versus some
that I haven't like. This one is an old one. This one is an old one. This one is in dire
need of being upgraded. There's a few ways that you can upgrade a thumbnail
really easily. Perhaps one of the easiest ways and one of the cheapest ways is to just sign up for
something like Canva and then pay for their
premium subscription. Now you don't need to pay for
their premium subscription. There are a few templates
that you can use 100% free, but if this is the route
that you decide to go, I highly recommend just
signing up for it because it gives you access to
so many other templates, as you can see here that
you can just utilize. You can switch out some
of the images, the words, and make tens of thousands of different high-quality
looking thumbnails so quickly, e.g. if this was about cold
e-mail marketing, we would say the secret to cold emails Over can obviously switched the size up and all this
is drag and drop. And you can just
play around with it. And you can pretty
much personalized any of these templates
to say whatever you want and then just switch out the images and make
them look great. So the secret to cold
emails that work. And then you could change
this to a cutout of you. Or you could put
like a picture of an email sequence there or
something along those lines, then you just change
out the words. You adjust the picture slightly change out some of the pictures. And it really just gives you good templates that are
already look high-quality. So you don't need any
graphic design experience and you can just drag
and drop things. Now obviously this one doesn't look the best, but
you get the picture. I'm just kinda going
through fast and giving you a run through of what's
possible with this. So Canva, definitely one of the best options
that you can have. Another thing that you
can do is you can hire a graphic designer if you don't already have graphic
design skills yourself. If you do, then you
just want to emulate other thumbnails and make them and recreate them yourself. But if you don't,
that's totally fine. You can just older
thumbnails from people on Fiverr very, very cheaply. And there are
high-quality designers on sites like Fiverr that
do a really good job. I'm not just saying this. You can see I'm ordering thumbnail after thumbnail
after thumbnail, after thumbnail because it works same thing with somewhere
like online jobs dot ph. You can just go
right to the source, hire somebody from the
Philippines that has graphic design experience and
that's exactly what I did. You can even go to
a site like Upwork. Although on a site like Upwork, you might end up paying
a premium for somebody with graphic design experience
on somewhere like Fiverr, you're only paying like five
bucks a thumbnail roughly. So it's very affordable. And on somewhere like
online jobs dot pH, you're paying hourly for that person so you can
just play around with it. So if you're ordering a
gig on Fiverr or you're hiring a graphic designer on somewhere like
online jobs dot pH. How do you give them
instructions on what to recreate
for your thumbnail? So let's use this
example right here. You can become a
millionaire if you read these ten books and
you want to go to YouTube and you want to see other thumbnails are
the creators that are roughly your
same channel size and see what designs
catch your eye. Number one, because
they catch your eye, chances are they'll
catch somebody else's are high-quality and also seem to be working for that creator and
getting them views. You want to recreate
something very similar to what's already
working on the platform. That does not mean copy, but that does mean
that you can utilize their design and give it to your fiber or your
online jobs dot ph, graphic designer, or you
want to use Canvas, e.g. you want to recreate
something very, very similar because it's
proven to work on YouTube within that specific category
and that type of video. So this one was on books
that you should read. So we'll say like
top books 2023, and we'll see what pops up. Now. This is a good one
because it's simple. You can see that I literally did this same exact thing on this video right
here that was dropped a month ago and got 131,000 views on a channel size that
was roughly similar to mine. Because if you look
at this thumbnail and then you come back and
you look at this thumbnail, you can see that my
graphic designer had a lot of inspiration from this thumbnail and pretty much recreated it with me
behind it, right? You can see the question
marks in the books. He put me behind there. It's red backgrounds me behind there the
question marks on the books and I told
him to put three words in the thumbnail that
said worth it to read. And I just changed this
thumbnail out a few days ago. So hopefully it reveals the algorithm and
gives this video a better chance to
obviously get seen since it didn't take off like
some of my other ones did. Initially, this 150000,
clearly that thumbnail work, this 1,600.83 views. Clearly this thumbnail didn't really work initially and that's why I rewrote it and tried
a different approach. And this is one of the
easiest things that you can do if your
videos don't work, change the thumbnail because it's the number one thing that is going to have the biggest impact on
your click-through rate. And once you improve
your click-through rate, YouTube will then start suggesting your video
out to more people.
3. Upgrade Your Titles: So the second thing
that you can do to upgrade your current
videos and kinda give them another rerun at the algorithm is to
upgrade the titles. The reason being is
click-through rate is the most important metric
that you can focus on. And it's the one that you
have the most power to change with both your
thumbnail and your title. Ultimately, it's about finding the right combination
of title and thumbnail that go together and actually get the results
that you're looking for. So here we are scrolling down some of my videos and
we're going to try to find one that doesn't
have a lot of views on it. Here's a perfect example. All of them have
thousands of views here, but this one right here for
some reason only has 925. It really didn't get pushed by the algorithm and it
hasn't really been seen. You can see I've
already worked on the thumbnail and
upgraded that here. So now the next
thing that we can do is upgrade the title. So there's two really
cool methods that are going to help you
rewrite your title. Very similar, but also let you change it so it gives
the algorithm and other shot to take more
information in from a different angle and suggest
it to the right people. The first thing that we
can do is we can use a paraphrasing software
called quill bot. It's completely free if
you're just rewriting titles so you paste
your title in here. You can pick standard, you can pick to expand
and make it longer, which I don't
recommend obviously. Or if your title is long, you can shorten it and that tends to work very well as well. Because now on YouTube, shorter, more concise Titles
typically work better since most people
got carried away with the long titles and trying
to stuff them full of keywords so we can paraphrase
it using standard. And it's going to spit
out a very similar title, just slightly worded different. And this can really
have a positive effect on the views and
the click-through rate of your video because it's basically a very similar title. But sometimes the way that you can pick words and enunciate certain phrases might not be relayed by some viewers
as well as other phrases. And so this is why this
is super effective. So we changed the most
difficult part of growing an e-commerce business to
the hardest part of it, expanding and online store. Now this just gives you ideas. You can obviously rephrase
it again if you want to. And then it pumps out
the hardest part of expanding and
e-commerce business. You could also shorten
it and then it pumps out growing in e-commerce
business is hardest, that doesn't really work for us. So let's try one more here
with standard growing in e-commerce businesses
most difficult aspect, we could change that and then literally just
paste it in there. Here's another 1985 start
these five online businesses. This one didn't really get
picked up by the algorithm. So we take the title
here and we take it into the paraphrasing software and you can use creative as well. That's another good one
that tends to work well. We're going to paraphrase it. In 2023, launched these
five online businesses that might do better than start these five online
businesses in 2023, which we clearly know
already doesn't work well. So we're going to
take this title. We're gonna paste it in here, and we're going to click Save. Now another way that you
can change the title is you can use AI
software like chat GPT, and you can have the AI
software spit you out five or ten other phrases
that are very, very similar. So we're gonna tell chat GPT, which is a completely
free AI software, to rewrite this title
five different times. Let it do its magic. And as you can see, it's
starting to spit out different variations
of the same title. So those are two
ways that you can rewrite your titles
and upgrade them to hopefully increase your
click-through rate and give your video another shot at being picked up
by the algorithm.
4. Give the Algorithm More Information: Now the next thing that
you can do to help give the YouTube algorithm a
little bit more information. So it can suggest your video to the right people is to put your YouTube script
in the description. The reason that that's so
effective is it doesn't take much more effort on
your part to do this, but it also gives YouTube more information and more
keywords about what you're specifically covering
in the video so that they can then suggest
it to the right people. So if you're like me, you already write your
scripts out and then you read a lot of them like I do on YouTube, a lot of
people do that. But if that's not you, you can simply just
have it dictate with a text-to-speech software
on your video, or you can download the YouTube transcript and do it that way. So e.g. if we were
doing the dictate, you could use something
like Microsoft Word. A lot of different
softwares have these. There's apps on a phone
that will do this as well, 100% free for you. So here we are in Microsoft
Word as an example, we come to Home, we click
on the dictate button. And now you can see it's ready to listen as it
types that on the screen. So we're going to space down and I'm going to play the video. And then it's going
to just dictate the words on the screen
about what's being said. Another really easy
way to do it is just go to a YouTube
script downloader. So if you go to google.com, you type in, download
YouTube scripts. You can just download
your YouTube scripts, find a good one, and then you
paste in your YouTube URL. And you can download the
text file or the SRT file, and in seconds it will give
you your YouTube script. Now if you put all this information
into your description, It's not going to instantly
spike your views, but over time it will get you more views and it will help.
5. Find Specific Long Tail Tags: So another really easy
thing that you can do to give the algorithm more
information is to input tax. Now, YouTube themselves has said that tags don't matter
as much anymore, but they still can help give you more views on specific
search terms. And they can still help give the algorithm more information
about what's in the video. There's two really easy ways to get the perfect tags
for your videos. First and foremost,
you could just go to YouTube and search out a video that's very similar to yours with very
similar keywords. And then just see
what's working for the top videos in that niche
and around that topic, that's perhaps one
of the best ways. So if we use the e-mail marketing video as an example from
the last time, and we just go to cold
e-mail marketing and we see what videos are doing well recently with relatives
similar channel sizes to us. And we just utilize
their tags in their videos and come up with
similar tags on our own. There's a high likelihood that a few of them
will hit for us. So right here we have 20,000
views six months ago. Let's see how big this
guy's channel is. He's a little bit bigger. But just as an example here, you can see that if
we have two Buddy, which is a free extension that I always recommend if you're
trying to grow on YouTube, there is an upgrade that
we'll talk about in a second, but you don't need it to use
this specific aspect of it. It will show the
tags on this video. Now, it will also show you the search rankings within YouTube of these specific tags. A really cool feature. You can use that
information to then come up with similar
tags on your own. So e.g. lead generation tool, cold e-mail template called
emails that get responses. You can come up with cold
e-mail personalization, cold email sequence, cold
e-mail lead generation. And so you can do this
on a number of videos. Let's pick this
one as an example, even though this one
is a little bit older. And there you can see the tags for this video pop
up on the right. We'll, we'll click
Show search rankings. And there you have it. How to cold email clients, cold emailing new clients. And so that's one of
the best ways that you can get great tags
for your videos. But another really cool feature of two buddy is that it will suggest you the tags and what you can rank for underneath. So then you can just go through and click a bunch of London. You don't even need to come
up with them on your own. And yet another cool feature. Now you do need to pay
the upgrade for this. You don't need it,
but it is cool. So I wanted to show it to you. You can launch the
keyword explorer. Then type in a specific keyword that you potentially
want to rank for or that you're curious about
and see if you're able to rank for that based
on your channel size. So let's see cold email
marketing strategy. And we'll see if a, this has a lot of
search traffic. And B, if Q body thinks
that we can rank for this based on our channel
size. There we go. This one is an excellent one because it has a lot
of search volume. There's not that
much competition. And obviously this video
is optimized for it. Now you always want to
have waited on because that's going to take into
account your channel size. If you go unweighted, you could be competing
against channels that have millions
of subscribers. And obviously that's not
something that you want to do. So always click waited. Let's try one more. If we go into
dislike cold emails, it might not be as
good because it's a shorter keyword and it's not as long tail. There you go. This one's only a 42 out of 100, still a lot of search volume, but the competition
is a lot more beers on this specific search term. So keyword explorer is
another great way to do it. You could also,
again come up with inspiration from other
similar videos that have other similar
keywords that are doing well on the platform based
on your channel size. Or you can just go
to your actual video and to Buddy will suggest a
bunch of keywords for you.
6. How to Apply this Skill: For your course project, make a checklist of each of the four specific things
that we've covered. So that's upgrading
the thumbnail, upgrading the title, adding a detailed description,
and adding tags. Then go through your past
underperforming videos and apply each part of
this checklist to them. You'll see that with
consistent adjustments using this checklist, your videos will eventually
catch the algorithm wave. You just need to find
the right combination. Remember it won't have a magic effect on every
video immediately, but some videos
will significantly improve a lot faster
than you think. Make sure to take that
screenshot of the analytics on your best-performing video
that you apply this to. The rest of the class
can see the spike in views after you
made these changes. Upload that screenshots of
the course project area. I really hope you enjoyed this course and got
a lot out of it. If you have any
questions whatsoever, do not hesitate to
reach out to me and ask until next time.
