About This Class

Hello everyone and welcome to this class!

Here i am sharing with you how i create my album covers with procreate.

I actually create album covers as a music producer so i know first hand how difficult it is to have a great song and try to show that through the artwork of your cover. I have developed a really simple and easy approach to this creative process that develops high quality aesthetically beautiful album covers that are versatile, adaptable and unique.

So, in this class you are going to learn:

  • How to create album covers that meet the setting requirments for all the main online platforms like spotify
  • How to correctly create a harmonizing composition that is not only technically correct but looks great too
  • How to use gradients and layers to tweek and modify images and colors
  • How to incorperate fonts and logos into your album cover that match the design and composition of the work

By the end of this course you will not only be able to do all this (above) but you will undersand the creative process that is behind making album covers.

How a song transforms into colors images and finally a captivating album cover the truly represents what your music is all about.

I'm really happy to be here sharing this with you and i know you're going to love this class!

See you, thanks

1. What you will learn: Hello and welcome to this class and my name is George Jo and I'm a professional and graphic designer. So in this class you will learn how to make album covers specifically for music. I really believe that the strong point of this class is that it's extremely beginner friendly. In fact, you don't need to have any prior knowledge about graphic design or drawing, for example, because I will guide you step-by-step from the start to the end to create the album cover the you need for your music, for example, in this case, this is basically you will learn the basic of the procreate up. You will understand how to move into the environmental DR. but then after we will go and understand the brainstorming, so the whole creative process behind creating the album covers, how to find the right images or to find the right pictures for free on the internet. How to masker in all the other processes required to create the album covers. I don't think there's much more that I have to tell you because this course is really straightforward. So let's jump straight into the course. 2. Procreate Environment Basics: So the ice. Welcome again to this course. And for the very first lesson, we have a look at the procreate environment just in case you know nothing about these. Let's see the basic. So when you open the app, this is where you go. You can see all you are all here. But what we want to see is how to create a new campus. And you do that by pressing on the right top corner this plus button. Then for now we select screen size. And now we have our new campus. Now, let us see the menu on the left top corner, you can see this reading gallery. If you press ego back on your work, then you have the settings. Here. We use this menu to, for example, instead of photon to add text and at the end to share our project. Next we have adjustment. We use this use saturation brightness menu just to put down and fix little b, the saturation of the, of the picture. Or probably she went out a little bit of noise or the blur, stuff like. Next we have the selection tool and I gave an example with four there because it's really handy. For example, if I have this amazing growing now and I press the selection tool. And let's say that I want just a part of a, for example, this circle. Okay? Now I can take out from the drawing and just the part that I've selected. So the selection to actually does this and much more, but that's what we need to know for the moment after we have the Move tool that as you've just seen, it allows you to move anything they you select or stretch the drawing or the picture, whatever you select. Okay. If i'm on the right top corner, the menu, the first panel is the brush library. This is really intuitive. You have the categories of the brushes and inside each category of like few brushes available. Next we have this tool that we use for, I guess it's managing. I'm not quite sure if that suburb in English, but I guess it's managing. So that's the result of the US manage your drawing actions and use that a lot. Sue, you draw realistic drawings. So we're not going to use this for the course. Next we have the Rabaa, which leads stuff we know. And then the layers panel that is really, really important. We're going to speak about this later on in the course. But basically what we do here, we just layer, layers one on top of the other. And that's the core of the course because for the techniques of masking pictures on top of gradients, on top of texture that will gonna do after. It's really important to know how to understand this pan on. I'm just going to show you like it is. Then we have the color palette panel. As you can see, you can pick any color here available. And you can also save presets. And you can see by selecting, choosing the color you want. And that pressing on an empty space down here, you save the preset. There are also other ways to find colors. Depending on where you find yourself more comfortable. And you have some presets, some palettes of colors available, really indifferent times. Let's go back now. Black. Down here, on the left down corner, we have these lights, the top one. And you can see the brush size. So you can increase or decrease the size of the brushes. Then the others Light is the brush capacity. So you can increase or decrease the capacity of the brush. Okay? Then we have the undo button, which is this curved arrow here. Okay? And the redo Bultmann. This one in the middle. Let me give you an example. Okay? This d square rich figure in the middle issue press gives you this lens. This is the color picker. So let's say color black selected. But I want this red here. So without stressing me too much, finding the exact read that I'm looking for, which is the same of the i select the color picker, moving to the red and the selects the, any code you or you are on top. Following, use it a lot in this course, but it's good. They, you know, so I think that for the basic, this is why you have to know nasa, of course, while we move on to the course. So we're going to see more specific features. Any, everything is really basic and Beginner, beginner friendly so you don't have to worry about, I like de facto making courses. There are four people, they are beginners, so everything is really easy. You can apply any thing that you learn here straight away. So that's it for this lesson. Let's move on into the other lesson. 3. Brainstorming: So for this lesson, we will have a look at an important thing. Didn't a lot of people underestimate, which is brainstorming. I can't stress this enough guys, but Brainstorming is, for me the 50% of the job. If you don't brainstorm enough, you see this sooner or later your procedure will get affected because you're going to do album covers that are really plain and simple. They don't actually reflect your message, the message of the song. So one important thing to do, just take your time to brainstorm, find the right ideas, the right photos that then you're going to use on your own, on your album artwork. So for example, I open up this blank, this blank canvass, and I use it just to write so you can, you can actually use a piece of paper or nodes for this project I want to show you now, we will work to make this album cover. We're going to make this one at the end of the course. And this one is for a real song that I've made, that it's called asleep. So what I do is that I've adenine Festival of the song. And you need to keep in mind the message of your song for one end of the song is it's like, it's not actually like a personal sleep, sleeping in the bed, but I wanna give a feeling of lightness, leap in a dream, reality, dream and R can sound a little weird. But this is the thing that I want to give. So I pictured in my head that sun floating in the air. So this is what our None at the end. But when you brainstorm, I think you guys know what to do. The first thing that I do is that I want to come up for week three to five words that are related to the song. So for example, makes me think of morn, makes me think of night, bed. And then of course, because I know the meaning of this song, person flooding. For example, on the other, on the other side, I usually like write down the colors that I like to use. For sure. Dark tones though. Sure, it's spelled like the colors. So this is a bridge, so that is quite, quite weak. But I have to tell you, to be honest, I spent hours brainstorming has been even more, more time finding pictures. We're not gonna take too long for this project because it would be like really boring watching a course like that. But I have to tell you, just take your time like on an average you spend like you spend a lot of time finding the right photo that I gradient derived picture for, for your artwork, you just eat a lot of trial and error. You try a picture, they finish the artwork and then day after, for example, last year, 100 anymore you want changes. So that's eye works. Unless you are really straightforward with your, with your intention, a urine, you don't care that much about what Islam as it's sufficiently nice looking, you're okay with that, then it's fine to spend a lot. But if you care enough lists like crazy like me, then you're going to spend a lot of time is about the song. And then go ahead and look for the right picture, for the right gradient, for the right texture on the internet. And this we're going to do for the next lesson. 4. Finding Pictures, Textures or Gradients: Now, as we just say, do we have going to look and search for the right photos or gradient or the text of your album cover. I know a lot of you may already know these up this website, which is called an splash. Our went directly into an splash because our unfilled Google is good enough for this, for this purpose. Because on Google you can find a lot of pictures that are really ugly. And there are also not you can use for commercial purpose. So this actually royalty free photos and I really, I quality for those and there's a lot of studies up. So this is the best environment if you don't have this up, I suggest you do a lot. Is Sarah away? It's called Splash. Oh, go on the Web Science pledge.com. And here what we're going to spend a lot of time finding the right picture for what we said before the brainstorm. I'm looking for something related to asleep. And I mentioned words like moon. So let's start line like this, moon. And here you have all the moon related peak shows that these Splash suggest us. Actually, I like this one and I'm gonna download it. Then. Like these one. Actually, I'm not going to spend too much time. So I'm going to download this a couple of photos for each word. And I remember I wrote bed. I really don't think we're going to find something interesting in bed. In fact, that's IDs. I don't know, maybe this one. I'm just going to download one of four bed because already, already can see that there is no much unless we want to allow more colorful hotel. Then another words. The word was bet some flooding, which is a night. Actually what I, what I decided to do. So let's go and write down night, night, some really interesting photos like this one. For example. Like this one. Because my intention is to pull my logo in the middle. So it's going to be on top of this little more moan, moan looked up good. Probably will cover too much the moon. Let's see. Talk this one. It screening, gradient and person floating. Let's see if I can find. This is nice just to read and didn't mean to. So this is the guy that I found that actually actually used this photo for the, for this project. Now you can ask, but this guy is not floating in the no is not is jumping from one rock to another. But I think that if I trace over his silhouette, it can look like he's floating or maybe like folding like an astronaut. So this is what I've done. Actually, I use this folder and I started tracing over disfigure, creating a silhouette that then I will use to apply the technique of masking to create something really, really cool. So we have all pictures and I think that we can move ahead with our project. 5. Creating a HD Canvas ready for every music streaming service: So guys, now for this lesson, we're going to create now book cover that is least 3 thousand by 3 thousand pixels of size. This is important because if you're a beginner, you don't know a lot about the requirements that you need you are worth to be. So generally, every single PRF from service ask you to provide them. Now boom, cover that is least 3 thousand by 3 thousand pixels of size. So we're gonna create this now by pressing the plus button. And you have to press just down below the plus B2 does this icon here to create a new canvas. But the first thing that we do is click on the title Untitled canvas and rename with album cover. Then one would need to do is you probably have 5 thousand by 5 thousand now and buy what you do is you click on width and you type 3 thousand, you click on hate. Any type 3 thousand. This is the size that you need your output to be. It can be bigger, like 5 thousand by 5 thousand. Feel like OK, if it's bigger than it can look even better. I quality. But the problem is, as long as you do an album cover that includes follows, the bigger you make it. The other way is to find the right folder because it's not that common to find a photo that is so big, like 5 thousand pixel by 5 thousand peaks. So you're going to be stretching a lots of photos to make a fit into this big artwork. So what does it just that the minimum requirement is 2 thousand by 2082, ready, like yb. And also because at the end of the day, your album cover will be shown in small devices like a smartphone or a tablet, or an iPad. So you don't need something really big if you want to print your album covers still 3 thousand by 2 thousand is still a big size. So my suggestion is to start from two thousand and three thousand. And the DPI, we're not gonna spend too much time understanding what the DPI is. But it's, we can say the resolution, how many pixels per inch you have in these artwork. So it set up on 350 n. You can solve from 150 up until 500. This is a good range. It's not fundamental. You can leave a 350 and, and it's really, really extremely fine. So this is the setup, the media cover, Naidu Create. And now it's gonna, it's gonna open up Town Bus. Unless theme is that. The next time you go and plus, you don't need to create it again, because if you can see down here, you have your album cover preset. The if you want, you can hold on and you can drag it on top. You can see how bone cover here. So the next time you don't have to put the numbers again, even if it was extremely easy. But plus album cover and it's done. And now you're ready to go. So this is how you create an HTML canvas ready for every music streaming service. Now, let's move on to the other lesson. 6. Importing and Layers: Okay, so now that we have a canvas ready, we have photos. We did our brainstorm, so we're ready to import the photos that we have done. So to do that, you go, as you remember on the left top menu, we can see this a year. Open up the settings panel, then you go on insert of photon. Then open your library. And here you have all the photos available that we have done in order. So let's say for example, I actually really like this one to another. You saw the end result of this the album cover. But I probably may change my mind because I like this one with the moon. So we're gonna do this probably. But once you are the photon, well, we want to do is that we want to make this photo fit the entire Columbus. So to do that, we press the move to then in the menu that appears down below. E, press fit the screen. What happened is that sometimes if fits the photo for the entire canvas, or sometimes like now, it just fit for the haze or for the width for examples. To now we have to drag the blue dot, the corner of the photon to fit the entire canvas. That's what we do now, okay? Now it's ready bus, as I can see. And unlike them much that the moon is two squashed towards the top. So when I do, and I think you want to make sure you select this in this menu down below is money magnetics. This helps you because it creates a guideline, so it doesn't make you go randomly. So as you can see, this blue line makes you go straight. I want to put them on just a little town like this. Okay. And now this is a photo that I live by. I want another alternative because I may like this one. But maybe it doesn't work. So let me try to add the photon like this guy and make it fit. Because with this guy we're going to do something different. And I think we're going to use this photo because you're going unless something really important, we trace over the guy to create a silhouette and then to create a nice effect like this. And I'll show you now. So this is the guy floating and this is the FET is going to come up with. So, yes, let's choose this guy. Let's delete the previous folder. Let's move on and talk about the layers. Because now that we learned this technique of layering falls on top of another, we need to know about the layer panel, which is this one. Okay? So the layer penance tasks with the background color, background color, symphony, you never touch. But I just want to let you know what it does dimensionally, how you can use it. So let's move a little bit. So the background color nasa is quiet, but if you change color, change for the called the u1, this is one usage of the background color, even though it's a little law. Another really commonly use of this background call ether if, if few takeoff is going to be transparent. So you can see. And it's really nice if you want to create cutout images. For example, let's turn on the guy and let's take the selection tool. Let's pretend really roughly they were cutting out the edges of this silhouette. Copy and paste. And we're gonna put it into another layer. So this is what happened. And now the background color is set on transparent, and R can export this image without the background. So this is a really, really cool feature to have cut out in edges. Otherwise he didn't use it a lot. But let's go back. Equivalent before. Okay. Then two other new layer. You press the plus button here and it creates a new layer. One thing that you should do with the layer painter is to be organized. So not to be like me. If you press on the name, which is layer two, in this case, it appear a menu. We can see Rename. And now we do, for example, called Guy. Another thing that you have to know is this n. If you pass the n, it appear are menu for the opacity and all these effects. So for example, you can see the photonic capacity down start to become transparent. Or if you change the effect is something we're going to see after Union CD effect or each one of these effects are cool. Because we use these a lot. Then of course Cp few take-off will disappear. You might, or you show the layer. Then if use light to the left, you can clear the layer, which means really everything that it sees inside this particular layer selected. You can duplicate. You need to know this. Or you can lock layer. You needed a lot. Now, let's say instead we have three layers. You want to select just two of them. And you do that to select a layer, you just press one time. Or is light towards the right. This is, sorry. This is the way you select. So let's say that you want to select the first one and the bottom one. That's how you do. Okay? And this is everything that you need to know by the layer panel. So we're ready to move on and trace, unmask this guy to create a silhouette. 7. Tracing and Masking: So now we're going to create a silhouette of this guy. And to do so, of course, we need the brush, which I chose calligraphy section and modelling. We can just like pretty much anything that is really like straight and thing like a pen. Dont choose obviously like something like this, bloodshed because you can trace with a brush like so choose monoline or probably go on inking. H is this one. Okay? Then one thing is that we have to do is we click on this layer. And this layer, we select the letter N and we turn down your city until he can still able to see the edges. Ok. Why would you saw? Because it helps us when we trace, because now I can see my pen really well. But for example, because is pants black and my pen is black. If a trace on top of black on black, I can still see by, can be really annoying sometimes. So it's really important that anytime you trace something, you turn down the capacity. So once we do this, one thing that we are going to do is create a new layer on top because we don't want to use in trace on the same layer. When we want to grow another layer. By pressing the plus button. Then we select the brush and we start tracing. But away, you can't see this. But I move the Columbus our want with pinching, zooming in, zooming out and rotating with two fingers. So zoom-in tracing, for example. Now I think the, if you can see, I'm a little bit, I'm trembling and wobbly because first of all, the Brush size is too much, so we have to decrease the size. This is too thin. This is still too thin for me. Okay. This is fine. Another thing to prevent these wobbly lines. We go on the brush panel. We click again into the monoline. Brush. It's going to open up its personal option panel while we have to do we want streamline. And we set streamline up to a 100% was streamlined. Do I'm going to show you, is the makes your lines motor. As you can see, you can be wildly. But he makes his mother. Otherwise, if turn that stream line down. You can see my lines a little bit worse. Okay? You can see that if friends up, you can actually like follow and see the correction. Live. Okay? This is important when you try to, because it makes it look it makes you look more professional. So once we do that, we were ready to trace. The more detail you going to do, the more realistic this figure it's going to look. But B-Raf to be, it doesn't have to be perfect because steel is just a silhouette. It's not a drawing. You don't need to do to be perfect. But you can take your time and do things extremely perfect, like like I'd like to do. Okay. You can see it doesn't have to be extremely detailed. And both, so okay, so now we have the silhouette. One thing that you have to do now is another, we're going to color everything like this because it's going to take ages. But we go on the color partner. We don't have to click on it. But just to make you see what it is, you take the black and you drugs straightaway, the black. So now if you go here, you leave. It's gonna call everything inside the path, the youth clause. Only if there is a close path. If the path is like this, that it's open, you do the same thing. Of course is gonna call everything. So the path has to be closed. And then this feature we call anything inside this path. And because as silhouette was a closed part, came up good. Okay, now we have our silhouetted. We can actually get rid of the original photon by hiding, but I prefer to the later. Now we have the silhouette. One thing that I want to do is that I select the Move tool. And because it seems like it's not flooding is going down, I just want to buy drug rotating the screen dot B. So it seems like it's going up. So it's not actually going to march down. Okay, he's alive. And then I want to make it a little bit smaller. So I pinch, zooming. Oops, what happened? So let me rotate it again a little bit less. If you do enough magnetics, it can be more freedom, but you don't have to guide. So in this case that enough magnetic because I don't need. But when I zoom in and zoom out, I want to turn on Magnetics because it helped me stay in the center what it was. So now I want to zoom out a little bit until I find cells that are like which is this one, then I make sure is it's centered. Wanting the programmer doesn't have is the alignment are no wide but you cannot, does not abandon this says aligning the center vertically or horizontally. You have to do this just by looking at it. So you have to develop this quantity or understanding like when it's in the center cannot be perfect. No, but if looks good, listed center, it's fine. Otherwise another technique that we use, but we are going to speak about this after me when we talk about composition spacing. So now that we have a silhouette ready in dissent, what is supposed to be, what we're going to do? I want to show you how to do the clipping mask technique. And to do so, I have to import a photo. In this case, we want to import, for example, a gradient. This is just an example in 1B. Just make the gradient the size of the silhouette. Now you go in the layer panel. And what it means clipping mask is the layer that is above. So in this case, these red gradient, the silhouette, It's going to be masking the silhouette itself. So you select on the gradient menu. And then you go on clipping mask. But make sure it's above. And what happened is the now DES layer. It's going to go on top, Creating a mask of the shape of the silhouette itself. The cool thing about these is the, if you have selected this gradient and the ego and the Move tool, you can actually move the layer that is above. Because another, it's not, you can't see them much, but you can see this gradient moving, this yellow. This is really cool because sometime you can see the, the orange moving a little bit. This is really, really important to do. And you see after Y to create contrast. So this is how you do the clipping mask. So this is how you do the clipping mask. So now we're ready to move on to the other lesson and go ahead with our project. 8. Adding more layers: So we're going to actually add all the layers, the gradient, and the texture we need to add until we get to the point. And then after we just have to add text, let's delete this because I don't want this gradient and option. Insert a photo going in library. I need to choose a background layer, something that I like. And I'm see there I'd use this blue sky, but now I like this much more. And I want to use this chi. So I'm going to fit it to screen. I'm going to put it down a little bit because I don't want to show the mountains, but are likely fates down till it gets a little bit white. This is what I like is a brick ground. Press the move to, to get out. Now press the Layers panel. And because it's a bag ground photo and now is on top, of course you have to old and pull it down to be organized. Just don't do it like me at the star. It's nice if you're gonna rename same background here. Now we have just few layers, but imagine when you have 20 or 30 layers, it can get confusing if you don't name them. So this is the background, this is the Si Lu. It will go. So now we have this nice background or really, really like and this is the first layer, then we have the silhouette. And then we have to have an another layer, which is going to be the clipping mask for the Silva. And I want to use the same background layer, the same photo. So what I do, I go and select the background layer as light towards the left and a duplicate. And then I drag by holding onto it on top of the silicon Earth. And what did we should remember? I press again the layer and then I do clipping mask. Now it's clipping the silhouette image. You don't see this now because the background image, and that's why we have to rename the clipping flow what this eclipse insulin image are actually the same. But now show you if you select the Move Tool and you start moving. You can see some cool is if you can see the guy in the center moving. So that's why we want to reduce and we want to rotate. So you create contrast where in the background you can see that the darker tones are here and the lightest tones are here. But in the clipping silhouette layer, the lighter tone psi here and the darker tones on here. So they cleared this contrast at the make the silhouette popping up still long enough because you don't see too much the duet. So that's why now you can be creative. You can be creative as much as you want. You can add as many layers as you want. And this is really the fun part. Because you see a nice gradient to put on top. And you do a using another nice layer you want to put on top and you do, you just try and show your creativity. This is where it gets interesting. So now let's find another photo, another gradient, pretty much, which is better to put on top of just the silhouette. Because we want to make it pop up a little bit more. You don't see them much. See just a little bit option. Insert folder. Let's see what we have here. So I want to put a gradient and I like this one. Okay? Before showing you these, if agon the clipping further with these before ns and I click on the end. And I reduce the capacity. It's going to show a little bit of the black underneath. But now I can start using these effects. Not too much because there's not much to show because it's black on top of another dark color, but you can see that it changes a little bit. And then after it's gonna be even more interesting, for example, I'm adding this gradient just on top of the clipping silhouette. And now I click on the n and I reduce the capacity because I don't want it to be so strong to see it just a lot is different and now it's popping up. And now you decided you can be creative. Here it is, how much you want it to show. So if you do this is just really light, like, like this because I like to show the gradient. You can see a little bit of the orange on its feet. You can see the lighter colors on his head. So this really nice, but now you can start changing the effects. Mek gets really interesting. Especially if you do like this one. A lot of this was normal. I like this one. For example, you can be even more creative. And another photon, if it doesn't work to too much. But for example, let's use this moon. Let's fit the screen. Let's pretend that you want to add these photo just above the background. It's supposed to be like the bar. If you reduce the capacity, you can do this. You can blend distinct together. You can change the effects, and now it's really cool. You can see how creative you can be. I won't do this, but you guys can, can go ahead and do a really cool effect is alive a lot. Then you change and you see how much for you. Look at Luca, cool is this looks floor. But anyway, this is to show you alternatives. But I do want to actually something else. And I wanna try another thing, which is this. Cuz I like this guy. This guy looks really good. And let's do the same thing. Let's do this and try to change GC. The difference. These effects are really, really important. Can create really cool stuff with this. For example, to make it bigger because I don't want to show the actual background like this, for example, just show the rupee down here. As you can see, because labeling is really important. Because I've put this layer just on top. The Background layer will effect just the background and not just the background and not what's above. The image won't be affected. But these ones, managing layering is really important to understand. I made a mistake, sorry. Okay, this is to show you other alternatives. Now, let's insert another photo that I want to actually keep. But these were I want to move it. But I want to move this on top. When I move this on top, I don't know why, but it does the clipping mask automatically, which I don't want to. So I select again and I'll deselect clipping mask. So this image I wanted on top because it will affect everything below. This keeps us sense of glues everything together. Let's see if there's another cool effect that we can apply. Otherwise we stick to normal. We can actually stick to normal was fine. Because it shows a little bit of the colors. I don't want too much, but this is okay. So now we actually added more lay on top of that. There is no limit to this. You can actually like change and do it again to find different silhouette took trace. You can find this fun and follow. You can find different effect. And this is like just limit less, it just your creativity. You can be really, really creative here. So I'm going to show you just diesel alternative bar. You can actually take your time to create and do really cool stuff. So for this lesson we've done, I encourage you guys to be really creative. And let's move on to the other lesson. 9. Adding text: So now let's add the text. But I want to do like before we go on with the text, we want to add another, another gradient top. Because yes, elegant, but I want them to be glued together even more. These gradient here. Put this gradient on top. And I start playing with capacity to see what happens if we put them, if we put it like this. Because he adds a little bit more mushy. But I want to do the reverse because I want these orange to be on top, probably on not because stay down here. And let's see if there's a cool effect. Just a tiny bit like this. And it's not a lot but something else. We can try to gradient. For example, this is another style, but it's really cool when you see a lot of colors and he completely changed everything. This looks really nice. This is around the I won't do this because I didn't plan to do so. It gets a little bit of colors. And see now the change effects. Now it gets really interesting. Like this. These are like so much. Sorry, this was meant to be like the lesson first text, but we're really excited about trying this. As I told you, here is where you get creative already out there like three more layers on top of already. Philip was already meant to be done. That's one saying you're going to lose a lot of time with a lot of time around distinct. These were I always do. And I was thinking to show you this process like I was actually doing in real life because that's actually what I do. You have to waste your time around something to make it look better. And it's it doesn't actually come up always good. It's trial and error, so you have to go ahead and try and go back and then try again. It is, looks nice. Let's do this. Let's change a little pity idea. Let's do something like this. Because if you guys remember final project, it's like that we actually need something a little bit different. We're going to end up like this way, a little bit more colors. So now we can start with text. Text, text, you go on option. And as we do like with adding a photo, we up text. Okay, so what we want to do is routing the name. Of course, I use a style that is capital letters because if fits pretty much everything, but you can play around with this as well. And I usually do. I want to do now is see so the, the riding vehicle on the left side. But then we see alternatives. You can put it on top, you can put it down. For now. We stick to the plan and reduce the size and festival. I change the font. I use a sun setting font that I really like, which is called a veneer. And I use the black, the heaviest style. And I think that I do is that I add a little bit of coming. So on the left of this font menu, you have the font families here. So the font that you have, okay, then you have the style for each family. Let's say we have Avenue. For each family you have different styles. Thin, thin, metallic, metallic, light, medium, heavy, black, black italic. Then you have the design panel, which you increase and decrease the size, the canning, canning ad space between the letters. For example, this is really important because when you put, when you want to put your your title, your artist name on top, you want to use canning. You don't want new led us to be squashed like day doesn't look good. While it looks good is the give space. You probably see a lot in other album covers. So you add space, but in their makes you look elegant and modern. So you use canning a lot for this example because I put in them vertical in a duplicate and I use a lot of cutting, then the attributes is something that we all know. And the left dissent on the right. And underline. Key is this. These are like sometimes do use can look cool. Old capital. So once I've done a quick down, then I select the text. I selected X layer. Then the Move tool in US ups. Start moving this here. And if I rotate with the green, and after I do this I want to preheat. Then a duplicate. Sorry. Then I duplicate. And I moved it to replicate a layer next. So this is what I want to do, but as you can see, is no center. So I select both of them by sliding the set on one to the right Move tool. And I start dragging this until I think is sent them, as we said before. Going to turn this. As we said before, we have to do this just by looking at it because we don't have, we don't have like an Align button. But there is something really annoying that I don't like. Any, it's not centered ratings. So what you can do to make sure it's centre, you are the new layer. Your brush. Any star, drawing a square. Here. You hold on if you all don't, and then you click also with your finger, is going to create a perfect square. Now that you have d square, you want to duplicate and make sure magnetic season news light all the way on the other side. But needs to be perfectly here. Okay? And now you can see that the o needs to touch the square as well as the a. So in my looped Center before, but now we can see that it wasn't centered. So what we do now is that we select both again. And this, sorry, we select them both again and we make sure we drag the a. Just to do this, you have to turn off magnetics because it can get really annoying. Otherwise, it drug this slowly, slowly, just the start of the a. Make sure the o is the same position. Ok, so now we know that the center, this is a trick that you can use. I don't need a root anymore, but I have a center writings after we're going to speak about composition and spake ins and spacing. Because I'm going to tell you one thing that you need to pay attention on to make sure you use the correct spacing and composition so that it looks good. Now another thing that I want to add a for this, I think that we're not going to spend too much time talking about the logo, but you probably already have a logo. But if you don't have a logo, you just can use riding. This is not a course about the login. I'll probably make a call somebody for beginners. But in this case I already have a logo. You pull your logo into your iPad and you import that, you insert a photo. You now for example, I went on my photo here. This is the logo. And actually I have to do nothing because it is really important in the center. It is nothing that I have to do. I like decides is already done. And another logo that I have for you guys don't have to have. Of course, this is just me being super crazy about it. It's sort of logo label that I put here, which I like to do. So this is my composition and I tell you after why and what can we change to make it look a little bit better because of composition? So before we move on, one thing that I want to change on this, on this text and the logo is the opacity because it looks good that it's white, bright wise, but it doesn't seem like it's blended with the entire cover. So to make a glue together, you select each one. Let's start for example, with this label. Pstn. You reduced capacity a little bit. Like say 60%. Let's see then at the end, you do the same with the logo 60%. You do the same with the writings, 60%. Okay? And now you can see that it looks like the blinding. They even better. Like for example, by zooming in here, you can see the stars coming through the label. So gives you this effect, the gluon together. This is much, much better. You don't see these bright white, even though equal lu, goods. That's the difference between mature a professional, if your professor, you can do this and he makes them all tied together. But I have an issue like the y because looked good anyway, you can live what language? Because it can be a style. Now we're ready to move ahead. And I want to tell you one thing that is really cool. 10. Finding fonts online: As I said before, just indicates you choose your own fonts because you ban on like that font human, unlike any fonts that it's on their own, procreate. So it's good to have the freedom to choose your own fonts that we use, a font that it was already installed in procreate. So you find Avenir, the font that we use before him procreate, but they don't like that font human, unlike any fonts that it's some program that our own procreate because there are lots of cool and cool-looking fonts on the internet. So what I'll show you, and this is a good feature, a really nice feature, the procreate, of which is the, you can import your own fonts. And here, again, it's another thing that makes you waste a lot of time because it gives you a lot of freedom. So you want to create even more. So now you're gonna see them more time because you want to find lots of fonts. They, you like an Italian website, which is called font. Here in this, in this, in this website you can find thousands of fonts. We're going to focus much more on if you can see this menu that you see on top where you have all the families of the formed like fancy for an look, techno bitmapped, ketotic, basic script, Ding bats. And today we're going to focus more on basic fonts, script fonts, because that's why you use the most, however you can use even the other ones. But a cool thing about this website, and it's something that you want to do is that let's say for example, you go on basics. Here you find all the basic Chandra's of fonts. But the cool thing is the if you go on the filters and you click on More option and you select a 100% d and percent free. And you submit the website's going to show you only the website. They are a 100% fee and you can use in for commercial purpose. This is really important because I know it cannot happen by, it's important to use fonts, the EDA you pay for your funds, or these fonts that you can use for a commercial purpose. So this makes you feel really more, much more comfy. The, you know, the, Anything, any one of these fonts that you download this free you can use for your album cover. So let's say you want the sunset is font on a tell you the distance between the sunset is form sans serif font is this bolt without these really straight fonts and Serif fonts. All of these funds, they have these things at the hand. Is little wings at the end of the letters. This pretty much the difference you can tell is like an old-style fonts. So that's why you use the most is sans serif, serif, then E script font. And this is reintroducing because you can choose a script font here. A make your own logo, like I did preimage was really easy, like I choose a font that I like. And just for my name, I rotated a little bit, a fan, a composition, putting the m here inside it to cheese. And I met a log of this arrow, a font. So if you don't want to be extremely refreshing, you want to do by yourself. Just go with Henry ten, for example. Or calligraphy. Just go ahead and look for a front view like a create a logo of this. So once you have important frontal procreate and then you can write your name with this font is going to look like a logo. Because now it may seem like the, you understand the idea of, for example, this ballot admonish. You think that it's going to look nice with your name on it. But a good feature is that you go on this filter beyond preview, you type your name, for example. And now the website will show you every font. But which a name. So you have a preview, what it will look like with the font applied. This is fundamentally a cubic. Sometimes you like a font, but believe me, than when you're going to use an Iranian nation like Arthur, I liked it because it looked nice, but whenever I'm my name, it doesn't look nice anymore. So it will make you waste less time because you don't load fonts then install and utilize the union-like. So in this way, you have a nice preview of what will be like your logo, for example. So let's say they we like. For example, let's say we like this Mamma, Mamma fonts here. Okay? What do you do? You download, download and will appear here. Now you press it, it's going to open up the folder which is on your outlawed try probably. Now it downloads the CSP file of this Mama fonts. You click on it and once you click, it will unzip the file into this folder. So now you have the actual font here that you can important procreate. Let's move in to procreate. And that's text. As you can see on the right. There's import font on top of the attributes panel. Now it brings you and just look for the folder is cases download Negro mama. Then you choose the font, announcing ported the font, it's called Mama. You have to remember because now you go on the list, you'd search for M, M, M, M, mama, and it's here. So now you have the font there. Uh, you can actually type your name, for example, and create a logo. And you have a one. And let's say the of Daniel logo like this. Really, really easy. I'll just we didn't, we didn't waste too much time finding the right logo, the right font, but it's just personal taste. But that's how easy it is. You don't have to do anything else. It's going to look like that. So this is how you find fonts on the internet. Are you import them on procreate? And let's move on to the other lesson. 11. Composition and Spacing: Now a little bit of theory, nothing crazy, nothing really overwhelming. You can understand the simple concept of composition. Unify Europe, begin. So let's start from the easiest thing. When something goading the center has to be in the center of a sample. My logo here. It's really easy if you decide to put it in the center, make sure it's in the center. And foodies, we're done. But the most important thing is why these look good here. These priding, Let me add a new layer bracket, right? Why this bribing Luke, good here, which is in the right space, because and also why? How can we improve them? Because the rule says that if you see the space between the border and the start of the running here, the same space should be here. And this is how we can improve this driving by either increasing the space or the decrease in the space. She's more. In fact, let me clear this. If we try and fix, make sure you select magnetics. To this little bit more. You see that it can look a little bit better. Because now what you have, you have a really nice square here that makes it look really good. Another thing you have to learn is that the same distance that you have here, you will have to have for the other object. So let's say for example, they will want to use the same distance. We pretty much have the same distance for these other label object. Now, it can look better. Already put these elements in a good position. So you can actually understand maybe too much the difference by, let's say they, you put this, this layer here as a mistake because probably you don't know. And let's say the you put the writings like here because you don't know. You have this feeling that there's something off, something that, that is not properly done. Or even the opposite, probably you want to put the new routing. This is a common common mistake. Believe me, the you put the writing just to squashed KIA. Some feed doesn't look good. Some x if you like, oh my god, something's wrong here. The same. This doesn't look exactly like the best, like it's supposed to be like this. The same is for the logo. Like imagine if it was just a tiny piece like this because he didn't understand what the center was. This doesn't look good. This is not a good composition. And we're talking about like the finest details, but they make the difference. So let's put everything back where it was in the center. I undo steps. If you can see. This is much better, much, much better Alibaba. I would actually, I don't want to waste too much time, but I would actually put the writings. It'll be closer and I will probably make them bigger. So for example, because I want to choose this distance. Now, that's what I do. One, duplicate. So I wanna make sure now like we did before, make sure you take off magnetics n2. Okay. This can be an option. And now you see if you actually liked this. Yes, I like it can be a little bit less probably. It can be even a little bit less like this. So now I want to make sure it's in the center. Because after a while when you develop like the experience, you actually have feelings if you like INR, filling its fine. And now I have a feeling or there's something wrong, you start tweaking and that's what you do. You don't even like take the measurement even though you should do, but you start tweaking, you feel like, oh, it should be a little bit more like this or more like death. For example. This is what I like. And I will put the label probably will try to adjust. There'll be more to put on magnetic level, a little bit more like that. Okay, so this is what I like, but just to make you understand the composition and the spacing technique, which is make always show that you pull everything the same distance, everything at the same distance. So if you're going to add, for example, another riding, let's say that we duplicate this one. You want to add another rotting here. So you wanna make sure is that the same distance, for example, for example, take this one. As you can see, it was like pretty much at the same distance. So I'll take my entities. So now I feel like the composition is good for anything you add makes sure it respect the laws of composition spacing you apply for the other object in the R word is going to make a whole defense. You're gonna make look your outward. Who really, really good. So now we're done for this lesson. Let's move on to the other one. 12. Alternatives: So for this lesson, gas, we are pretty much at the end of the course, but I wanted to show you alternative. So the point of this whole course is to learn like couple of techniques that gives you the freedom to space between everything that you want to do. You don't have to stick only to the style. You don't have to do this. You can buy, you don't have to you don't have to put the writing's on the left, login decentered the label on the right top corner. You don't have to do the same studies and calls the same photo. That's just a technique that you've learned that gives you the freedom to do different things. So let's take, for example, this alternative name of the title in the center. And you can see technique number one, spacing, same distance here and distance c, r. This is the center. Ok, you use the font that we say it's not a logo. For example, this is the same font, but it's the name of the artist. You use the technique of the clipping mask, as you can see, with the same one image. So it's a completely different album cover by using the same two techniques that we've learned. This is freedom gives you the freedom to, to do different things. Another alternative that you can do, it's this one here. There's actually one more thing you have to learn. And I'm gonna tell you now, for example, now you can see that the riding, it's the same pretty much the same distance. Okay. But it looks good. And you say, why? Because he does the same space here. Pretty much does the same space. But why this space is too much, because like we didn't do with the other album cover. Now we are playing with the photon in this photo as this component. And this component is an active part of the album cover. So now if you can see the, this one, this space, it's completely different. So it's pretty much the same space now because this component, it's active part of the Columbus. So that's what we do. But apart from this, we use the same technique and spacing, and then we use the photo. So everything started with only one background photon. Then I had it. This one in a blended them together with the same technique of the opacity. I choose one affected alive. I like this one. Reduce the opacity and make them look blended together. Then I started adding the text and the clicked in Moscow vertex, then another vertex and the clipping mask, text clipping mask. Then I wanted to add this new layer to glue them together. And at the end I didn't like it. But just to show you that there could be another alternative you can go on. But I like them playing like this. To make understand. It's the same technique of composition spacing and the clipping mask, or you can create war you want. Another alternative is this one. This is really, really easy because I used only, again one. One photo, not even afford it's a gradient. Gradient. Then I did a tracing technique that we learned to do. This was a real father trace this guy sitting and now it looks like it's floating in the air. And once again, I'm obsessed with this floating. And then added a clipping mask with the same background image. And as you can see, and the see just one gradient not even up for I didn't have to be body like looking for a photo than RDD, the text center, the name centered. One thing that I can tell you about fonts now, the probability and say before is, as you can see, you have the same family font, which is Avenue for the title is the same for the for the Addis. One thing that I want to say is that as you can see, the majority of the other cause they didn't even have a logo for the artists. You can get by with these like it's fine, you don't need to have a law. It looks really good. Not every artists have a logo. You actually use the same font of the title, but you have to differentiate. You make it smaller and you change the family. I'll show you. So you have the same font by you change the family. The family now is light, medium, medium, oblique. So you can't have black. It can look good because it's smaller. But if you had the same size of the title, is the same size of the iris, the same style, the same feminist. You won't look good. Tell you when Lucas, so you have to differentiate. This looks good, it's fine. But if you want to make something even better, you do even the same weight. But Italica, these already better. You can do even better if you reduce the wave. And you do Italy. Or you just do this. Because the principle behind this is that you have to differentiate meaning like what's important is cover like the most important thing, of course has to be bold and big. The less important thing has to be smaller and lighter. So in this case, all right. Which is the tidal, I want it to pop up more than the areas that was more important in the name of the artist. So this is the constant, that is how you have to reason. Pretty much. What's more important, the title of or DRE's, what do you think is more important or that other more important then have to put in the center, have to make big embolden. Then the Alice comes after you put below, but still we apply the same techniques. Again, this is really simple. You see lots of album covers like this. Now I think that grief away our renin like that there's too much space. I can move like this. Little bit, a tiny bit. So for example, this is easy, it's just one photon. Study. I choose this photon because it made me think of grief. I don't know why this guy thinking. Sadly, at the beach. Then I inserted this gradient that I apply with an effect. As you can see, to add a little bit of character, character, and personality. Nest I hadn't title on top artists below. Here, we use the same technique of spacing, same technique of clipping, technique of policy and blending things together. But one thing that I want to remind you as we went through before, we fonts that I use the canning, GCD makes everything look better. Because imagine this was originally done like this. Originally was like this, is to make you understand this was the original file. It doesn't look good of course, but spacing it out and make it look amazing. A really small font. The occupies lots of space. In regards the spacing, what you do is that you make sure that the hand of this coincides with the end of this. Now it doesn't because just slide the striking. And I went over but before he was. So that's why you make want to make sure to a little bit less. So you can feel like it's the same. It's pretty much, it's pretty much the same. But you can waste your time doing anyway. But you understand the principle. These really simple or really cool because lots of values they like to put a photo, for example and do these effects like these are the alternative I want to show you now, like this one. Let's say the disguise, the actual artist. You put a really nice black and white photo yourself and white title and artist below this. This is actually like we do. We don't use any of the technique we have used till now. But still it's really, really simple and good-looking. So just a picture and title and artist that say No Logo, just little bit of spacing. That is all, nothing more. The last salt energy can be. This is really common to see. It looks like an Instagram post with the white frame. This is common. And what you do is the same you import of picture before you was to show you. Because before it was vertical peak shot. Now it's square, r u d square is the, you. You make the picture bigger than the canvas. And once you press again, you get out of the move tool. What happened that he actually cares out Dalvik shop. So it makes a square. That's how you cut it with this picture actually did something that I want to show you. I went to adjustment, use saturation brightness and I put the saturation down to make it look a little bit because it was too bright, was like this and I didn't lie because if you put too much color on a wireframe, this too much contrast you wanted to blend with the white and bead, almost black and white, just a tiny bit of color. So that's what I did. Put the brightness up. It looks better to see. You'd actually see this guy does, is really cool. For example. See when it's too dark can look really good. So this is what I did that just played with saturation brightness. And once again, the spacing. It's now how to understand now because you guys Noah, Now the same distance. Same distance here. Here. Here if fits exactly the photo, the same. C. Really easy. These are all different alternatives using the same concept that we either need to know anything more than one we already understood to create dozens of different alternatives or uncover. So this is it. Let's go on to the last lesson which is exporting. 13. Exporting: So this is gonna be a really short less than because it's so easy to sport. And once you finish your artwork, you just gotten settings. You go on share, and then you explore in JPEG. What I do, you have different option. I don't think after explaining this so much, you can save it can save your image on the iPod and then from there you send an email, you use it, you want to, you can stay away to use AirDrop or send an email directly from here. So that's how you share and save it on the iPad. Now I can find the album cover here, ready to be poor on the streaming platform. So this is a you do. So guys, the course is finished and I'm really, really, really proud of you and happy you joined this course. And I hope you find this course really helpful. And the problem make more courses about the logo and I embedded this will help you a lot more. And yeah, let's see, this is done in, see you on the next course.
